ok im making a post about it so i can get all the credit when it happens (unless someone already said this in which case Very sorry have a nice day)
I predict grian will try to get mumbo to be the new king once mumbo is back from his break
im incredibly confident in this prediction and hear me out ok
new grumbot is from a timeline where mumbo won as mayor! cleary this grumbot has experience with turning the tides of favor in mumbos direction. easy
another thing, grian has had a history of putting mumbo in positions of power without mumbo having a say in the matter, we all know this. and what better time to thrust glory upon him than when he Literally cant be on hermitcraft
another another thing. i have not seen ren’s pov BUT i think he’s sorta flaunting his riches right? i believe grian noticed as much at least? well then we’re going to need someone richer to take his place! and lo and behold mumbo is the richest. hermit. on the server. making him king would be easy
also grian says he’s not doing a resistance YEAH WHATEVER FINE then he’s trying to get mumbo to be the leader of the not a resistance SHUT UP I WANNA SEE MUMBO IN REGAL REGALIA

Seeing all the screen caps from Wednesday's episode of the Flash has put me in the mood to ramble a bit more about Hartley, so spoilers below.
It had to be weird for Hartley in S09e02 to be wearing a STAR Labs t-shirt again. I'd imagine that contribute a bit to his grouchiness while talking to Khione.
But, really, he's not having a great day. He gets assaulted outside his club. (Did enjoy that he just has the piper gloves ready to go. It's gotta be this non-secret with his employees that he's the Pied Piper. Sometimes their boss commits larceny to fund social justice and they're just cool with it. I mean... I would be.) The fight goes badly for him to the point where he has to get out of there fast to seek out medical treatment from the only person he trusts to take care of him in this state.
Except Caitlin isn't there, Barry is so damn slow for a speedster sometimes, and Hartley's arrhythmia doesn't just magically clear up like he was hoping though at least the cuff is correcting the problem for now. But had to run away from a fight knowing that every minute he's away is probably bringing Roderick and the rest of his employees closer to danger. Hartley already knows what its like for Roderick to be injured because Hartley's own plans went to hell - he had to live without Roderick for five years and getting Roderick back was a miracle. He has to be terrified of losing Roderick again. Of having to live without Roderick, again, because he wasn't fast enough at repairing his tech and going to save him.
And on top of it all, the only clean clothes options he's got at the moment are spare STAR Labs merch. (Or is it swag? I mean, I doubt he's gonna pay for it.) This was the place that fucked up his promising career as a physicist. While he seems very happy as a former thief and current club owner, going to the place that reminds him of EoWells, the ex that ruined his reputation and used Hartley's work to nearly blow up half the city... that's got be the infuriating cherry atop the whole evening thus far.
So when Khione shows up and she can't help him, Hartley's porcupine quills are all up and spiky and can she go away now? Except she looks at him and sees past the wall of anger and sees how his fears aren't about himself. And she basically tells him, I think you're a good person. And it's not because of Roderick - it's because of you.
I think Hartley struggles to see himself as a good person, so of course he credits Roderick with being the reason why he changed. But Hartley chose to save Barry even when he had no reason to think doing so would save Roderick. Another version of Hartley saved Caitlin and Cisco from a Time Wraith and became a friend to Team Flash. Hartley's not wrong about being capable of making terrible choices that hurt people, but his natural inclination is to help people. Not hurt them. He's just too much in his own head and too much aware of his own flaws and he knows Roderick thinks the best of him... but Roderick loves him. So he's biased.
But Khione has no history with Hartley and no reason to automatically see the best in him and I think he was genuinely touched by her assessment of him. And that's why he shows up when Khione chooses to live for herself instead of to die for Caitlin or Frost. I do wonder how he knew to be there - maybe Khione used Caitlin's phone to call him? It's also why he called her his friend - they're both a bit hesitant and uncertain and shyly pleased to be friends, which is sweet.
People probably don't often take the time with him to see beyond his grumpy facade, so it seems like the fact that the first thing Khione does is exactly that really touched him.
Anyway, I'm really hoping that the Hartley & Khione friendship continues past this episode. Of course that depends on how many episodes Hartley's in. He does seem set up to be important this season. At least for the next while. The teaser for Ep3 makes me think that Hartley is going to get to spend most of the episode being a little shit to Barry and taking charge of the new Rogues when Barry proves incapable of leading bad guys (or incapable of leading at all lately, but my complaints about the writing for Barry belong elsewhere). Which seems like a fun premise.

Listen, I love Louis, but... judge? Him? A judge’s supposed to be fair and unbiased while still maintaining enough good judgement to realize when it’s time to defy expectations. What happens the first time someone brings up cats?

Ok no I do have to make it it’s own post bc I don’t remember the book’s scene in detail but Annabeth seeing the fates cut a string at the arch is so fascinating. Bc we know that’s Luke’s string. He’s not dying soon, but it’s been decided when he will die.
The moment the fates decide that Luke will die and when is right after Percy sacrifices himself. Right after he shows Annabeth his care and loyalty. That she is worth saving. That she doesn’t deserve the wrath intended for her. A set of dominoes has just been toppled and when they all finally fall, she will stand between Luke and Percy and choose Percy. From this moment, from this early on, Luke’s fate is sealed.

I'M WEAK OKAY? i looked up cast and i'm gonna speculate on what i've seen (i’m VERY bad at speculating xD and it’s the flash. they can throw literally anything at us common sense be damned)
S9E5 — is so far the last one with Hartley DON'T YOU DARE KILL HIM OFF. just don't you dare! Diggle's appearance is less interesting. i guess he's just sent towards the team with some tech or info or whatever and he'll stay to help i have a feeling Mark would change sides again sooner than later. double spying or something i hope Ramsey will be on team flash's side i don't think Bivolo will. but it feels like one of them should be. they'd need even numbers for their precious one-on-one's S9E8 — Nia <3 i have no clue what they'll do with her character. just happy we'll see her S9E9 — here we have Oliver and Wally 👀 time travel? seems likely. i don't think team will be able to take engine back. or destroy it. they likely fuck up and then will be fixing everything S9E10 — and okay i'm interested in this ep the most for now. we have Henry and Nora and EDDIE (west-allen drama?) and my second favorite Captain — captain David Singh <3 i'm pretty sure they will try to make us cry S9E12 — we finally have nora west-allen! i hope Bart will be here too. it's still early, they can make changes with cast S9E13 — Eddie's still here which is curious. like i don't believe they resurrect him. no way in hell Eddie's being alive won't ruin Barry and Iris' marriage. well, in the show. it's not like they are bold enough to make thawne/west/allen canon and here we have Jay and Zolomon 👀
i hope we'll have more familiar faces this season. i can't say that i'm all that invested in anything right now Khione's love for plant's annoys me to no end. don't get me wrong she is adorable and made the right choice to live her life. but why plants? i just can't get it. i annoy myself because i'm annoyed by her love of plants chester/allegra drama just… i honestly just don't care. i want them to be done with it already. jeez i saw more chemistry between Fiddler and Jaco in the latest episode i want a damn good reason for Rayan as a bad guy, okay? i wasn’t a big fan of her batwoman, but they canceled the show after cliffhanger and i just wanted to get some closure. and now i have even more questions current ‘rogues’ are pale copies of something we should have had around season one or two, maybe three. “time to light this match” my ass. I’m bias, i know, i just want my favorite two punning assholes back 😭 even if just for a two minutes appearance

Want some more rambling about Hartley Rathaway in S9?
Much as I loathe Mark Blaine, I actually really like the way Hartley has been set up as Blaine's foil thus far. I don't know if that'll get maintained, but here's hoping. (Just like I'm hoping for more Hartley and Khione friendship, but Ep3 did not deliver it so I may have to write it myself. *sigh*)
So far we have their similar stories. Hartley lost Roderick to a technobabble coma in the latest retconning of The Sound and the Fury, circa Season 6. And nothing Hartley did was enough to save Roderick, he could only stick him on ice in Mercury Labs (and somehow Tina was cool with this) while going on to apparently be a very good thief who made lots of ill gotten gains and got a reputation amongst Central City's Rogues.
Then Barry promised to help save Roderick in exchange for Hartley helping Barry with his pesky Godspeed clone problem. But Barry failed to help Roderick and Hartley was given a choice. He could keep doing what he was doing, which wouldn't save Roderick. Or he could help Barry with Godspeed, which still wouldn't save Roderick but it was right thing to do. It was something Hartley could do not just for Barry and Team Flash... but for himself. And so Hartley chose to set aside his resentment of Barry and the rest of Team Flash. He chose to save Barry. And in doing so, they discovered the missing ingredient needed to wake up sleeping beauty. Er... Roderick.
Blaine's story is something of an inverse to that. He gave up being the villain because he fell in love with Frost. And I don't want to debate his feelings or say that because he's a selfish asshole he didn't really love her. If he says he loves her, he loves her. But love doesn't always win. It shouldn't always win. Sometimes love isn't a good thing.
Becoming one of the good guys wasn't something Blaine did for himself. He did it because he wanted her. Joining Team Flash meant he could have Frost because she liked him too. But she loved her sister more than she loved him. And I have no doubt that he resented Caitlin for that. So he supported Caitlin's quest to resurrect Frost and it cost Caitlin her life. Instead of recognizing he'd fucked up... he doubled down and tried to take Khione's too. Against her will even, if he has to stuff her back in that stupid box himself. And Hartley stops him.
Hartley, who chose to save a life of someone who'd contributed to Roderick's comatose condition, knowing he'd get nothing out of it... got the miracle of his loved one back in his arms as a result. Mark, who was so blinded by his desire to have Frost back that he helped destroy the person she'd died saving.
The two of them as foils continues through the Rogues of War episode. Mark has probably already joined Red Death's crew by the time Barry and Hartley show up at the bar. Though it also fits that he may have joined up immediately after that scene, but it begs the question of the listening device getting to Barry & Hartley's meetup w/Goldface on time if Mark was having to negotiate with Red Death to get Frost back first. Was there enough time for him to do that and have someone get there ahead of time to bug the alley? *shrug* I guess it depends on how long it took for Barry to set up the meeting with Goldface.
Either way, by the time all the Rogues convene at STAR Labs to plan the heist, Blaine's already become the mole.
He's made a fool's bargain, but he doesn't realize it yet. Red Death doesn't care about saving Frost's life and odds are Blaine will figure this out too late. As it stands, he at least seems to realize he's in over his head and Red Death holds all the cards.
Both Hartley and Blaine are argumentative and kinda assholes to their fellow rogues. But where Blaine is in it for selfish reasons and destabilizing the group, Hartley is seeking new ways to protect his 'team' - Roderick and their employees at the club - and uses the arguing as a way to bring the rogues together by pushing Barry's buttons so they'd have a common adversary (of a sort).
And when Hartley is offered what Blaine presumably had to seek out - a place in Red Death's crew - he turns it down. It says a lot that while Fiddler and Boomerang both fight their opponents without question (well, okay, Fiddler and Jaco stop their fighting for a bit to flirt and it's hilarious), Murmur stops fighting Hartley to give him the choice of joining her side. Specifically it says lot about Hartley's skill as a thief and his reputation prior to settling down the Roderick. He's someone who fights well, even after being out of the game a while. I think Murmur really respects him as an opponent and genuinely hoped he'd do what she saw as the smart choice - join the winning team. Red Death's team.
And Hartley says no. Because he's been down that path and it doesn't lead anywhere he's interested in going anymore. But it's the path that Blaine is currently choosing to walk.

So! We’ve reached the final curve! Can’t say I’m exactly sad to see this end. Here are my thoughts.
It’s high time Mike started calling himself Nightwing. I’ve been thinking it for a while, the fact that he’s reached the point of inviting Harvey to Jump City cinches it. (I know that’s a tv thing, but shhh.)
Does it count as colluding if Katrina... isn’t really part of the legal team? Like, it would be if Louis and Harvey conspired with Mike (as they were trying to do) or if the whole firm was being sued, but the person on trial is Faye. I guess, if they pulled the same thing that they did with Mike, where listed counsel was PSWW, otherwise it was just a dick move.
I am. LOSING IT. At how much they hate Faye. For what? Telling them to follow the law? I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Wtf. Children. And I know this might sound weird considering Mike’s my favorite character - to be clear, my stance is, generally speaking, breaking the law is bad, so you better make sure that what you’re doing it for is worth is and be ready to face the consequences if you’re caught. If he’d gotten sanctioned for breaking confidence in the Brick Street case, I would’ve thought it sucked, because he’s my fave and he was doing it for a good cause, but he would’ve had it coming. Fabricating evidence 1) was worse, 2) accomplished nothing but letting an abusive company get away scot-free and 3) if Samantha was fine with doing that, she should’ve been fine with facing the consequences. Like. Faye’s RIGHT. She might be a dick about it, but she’s RIGHT. Like she was right to demote Louis for how he treated Benjamin.
The show’s reached the point where they know that Donna should have the spotlight because she’s the leading lady, but they haven’t bothered to build her character otherwise all season and they sure as hell won’t bother to do it now, so they keep shoehorning her into everything hoping it will look like she’s actually doing something.
Still seething about Lily. I wasn’t really the other ep bc the focus was less in downplaying what she did/shoving it under the rug than it was in saying that forgiveness is good and something the forgiving person needs. In this ep it was about not only painting her as a better mother (by trashing Gordon, how cute - makes me think that the writers are under the impression that her biggest crime was cheating on her husband (in which case, painting him in a bad light would help make her more sympathetic, like he had it coming or they were just two flawed people trying to deal with the hand they were dealt and whose natural tendencies clashed in the worst ways, which, maybe!) and not, you know, asking her son to lie about it to the other parent. WHICH ALSO DOESN’T MESH WELL WITH THAT “OWNING HER MISTAKES” BS, DOES IT) but also setting up a dynamic where Harvey has a warped, unfair perception of her and directs a lot of anger at his father towards her, ALSO framing Harvey’s grudge all these decades as misdirected. You see, there’s no reason for you as the audience not to forgive her, since she was under extenuating circumstances and Harvey’s hurt was not only unfair, but not really about her after all!

not to be a soccer nerd but thinking about team dynamics and uniform numbers and how jackie wears a 9 bc she’s a striker - obvs that’s the striker’s number. and shauna has the 6 which is (narratively a foil to jackie) and also defending midfielder. tai is the 8 which is ur classic box to box midfielder like jus well rounded support… nat is 7 a winger/backup striker. lottie is 5, centre back sweeper…. the implications. van as the goalie….. should i write thr whole post bc like i’m going insane and i don’t think ppl talk about their team positions enough

You know what’s so great about Tommy?
He represents hope. He is living proof that people can not only change, but also turn their lives around.
When he was in the begins episodes, he was scared and spineless and sometimes an asshole, all for the purpose of fitting in with Good Ole Boys club. He was deep in the closet and had been in an unhealthy environment probably all of his life. Lou said that Tommy had a rough life, an unstable home and childhood. Add an undetermined amount of years in the army to however long he was trapped at the old 118, I’m starting to think he never realized another option was for him. Not that there wasn’t another option, but that it wasn’t an option he could have.
But then Chimney comes in. Someone on another post of mine pointed out that it was because Chim was an “other” and Tommy didn’t want to be pinned as an “other” too and I agree. Same with Hen, but sadly worse. She got awful treatment from the 118 and Tommy went along with it. But even back then, we got treated to things like Tommy hugging himself during Hen’s speech to the house, to his face falling when the captain uses the “diversity hire” line.
But then Bobby comes in and he’s not standing for people’s shit. Slowly, the 118 starts to move forward and while Tommy isn’t stuck fitting into a toxic boys club anymore, he’s left behind because he can’t move himself forward anymore without confronting who he is. So he leaves the 118 and moves to Harbor.
Somehow, somewhere along the way to where we are now, Tommy came out to himself and with the way he talks, probably started therapy. When we meet him again, he is so gentle to himself and those around him. This is a Tommy we could see glimpses of before, but now he’s finally safe to be himself in all aspects.
And I think this is so important for all people who find themselves with any parallels to Tommy’s storyline. For so many people that have to live in secret. For people trapped in a horrible environment, one they have to mimic to survive. For people who can’t face themselves until later on in life. For people who look successful on the outside, but are crumbling on the inside. And to the person who fits their gender roles to a T, the macho man or feminine woman, who doesn’t “look queer” or “act queer”. There’s a place for everyone.
You just have to find your place. Look what that did for Tommy.
