I love Skyward Sword fans so much. We're just this (small, sadly) group of extremes who will kill anyone who complains about Fi or Zelda or any other character/dungeon/thing. We're always so excited to find other fans like "WHAT?? YOU LOVE SS TOO? OMG THAT'S SO AMAZING LET'S TALK ABOUT IT FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS." We go a little crazy seeing ANY SkSw content bc nowadays it's kind of forgotten; so, naturally, we all went INSANE seeing the announcement about it getting a Switch port. We're also super passionate about like everything from the game, even small stuff. I mean, I've seen people freak out over the doodle of Pipit in Karane's diary, or other such things. (I myself kind of lost it when I first saw the image of Link on Groose's punching bag. I also blabbered excitedly to myself when I found a Goddess cube in Lanayru Sand Sea I hadn't ever found on my other playthroughs. Stuff like that).
Idk, I just wanted to applaud us. *claps* Bravo, SkSw fans. We're an awesome bunch.

We Might Still Get Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker for the Switch
***Disclaimer: I am not a trademark lawyer. I am only a regular person trying to make sense of the numbers. I am not making a formal stance as I may be reading the information wrong.***
***Warning: This is going to be very long with lots of pictures.***
A lot of people are bummed about there not being a Zelda All-Stars for the 35th anniversary. Some are even thinking that Skyward Sword HD is all we’ll get since it is already so close to the anniversary. But I’m here to say that we could probably still get it, or at least Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker separately. Here’s why I think that and it’s the same reason why I knew Skyward Sword was coming: The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). You can also find the same information on the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) database.
What’s so important about trademarks? I don’t know, but I know they are important enough that the government is involved with regulating it. All I know it essentially means you have ownership over that mark. Remember when the Fine Bros tried to trademark “React”? (link) The USPTO and WIPO database are public to search for any trademarks in any category.
A few months ago when people were starting to guess what Nintendo was going to come out with for the Zelda 35th anniversary, I happened to remember that you can use the USPTO database to figure out if a new product was coming out. I decided to look some things up. The first thing I searched was Skyward Sword. **Tumblr ruined the quality of the images, but if you click on it, the quality should be better.
Edit: Clicking on the image will NOT work if you are on desktop and directly on my blog because Tumblr sucks. You can right click and hit view image, but that will take you from the page. You can also zoom in with your browser controls if you don’t want to go back and forth between my page. Both options may still be hard to read, so right clicking, view image, then zoom may be be the best option.
Tumblr media
A trademark for Skyward Sword? With the priority date (apparently when Nintendo filed in a different country), filing date (apparently when Nintendo filed application in the U.S.), and registration date (apparently when USPTO allowed it) all being in 2020? And in the “recorded electronic game programs; downloadable electronic game programs; recorded video game programs; downloadable video game programs; video game cartridges; and much more categories” categories and more? Why would a divisive game that is a decade old get a trademark in 2020? So that’s how I knew the game was coming to the Switch.
So what about the other games?
Ocarina of Time?
Tumblr media
Also a 2020 trademark under the same category that Skyward Sword was in. Should note that the priority and filing dates are in 2020, but the registration date is in 2021.
Majora’s Mask?
Tumblr media
Same as Oot and SS, but we have some differences. Priority and filing dates are in 2020, but there is no registration date. It does have published for opposition listed for 2021.
Wind Waker?
Tumblr media
Same position as MM. Priority and filing dates are in 2020, but there is no registration date. It does have published for opposition listed in 2021.
Twilight Princess? *Spoiler: It doesn’t seem promising.
Tumblr media
Yeah the years on this are 2007/2008. It does have a renewal date in 2018, but it is listed under the category of compact discs and other distinct categories. The other ones are under downloaded games or video cartridges categories. There seems to be no overlap.
Off topic, but when I search twilight princess, only two things pop up: TP’s trademark and that huge monstrosity of a filing. Like look at how many words they tried to trademark?! And it’s from one person! Edit: Turns out it is around 660 words! Apparently she went to court about it, too, if you are curious. (link) Back on topic.
Tumblr media
I should note that I could not find a separate listing for Zelda All-Stars, but I also can’t find a separate listing for Mario All-Stars. Only Sunshine has a 2020 trademark listing; 64 has a 1996/2000 trademark with a 2020 renewal and Galaxy has a 2006/2007 one with a 2017 renewal. Again, I may be reading a lot of things wrong here. All that’s on the USPTO database; I’m getting more info on the WIPO.
On WIPO, I did not find listings for Mario or Zelda All-Stars. 64′s active trademarks are from the late 90′s. Sunshine has 2020 trademarks. Galaxy has some active 2018 trademarks but not in the US. So It seems like there is some differing info. Let’s see about the Zelda games.
Skyward Sword has 2020 trademarks with some pending in Canada (CA), New Zealand (NZ), etc and some active in Australia (AU), Japan (JP), United States (US), etc. All filed under video game categories similar to the ones listed with USPTO and Skyward Sword’s trademark. Not surprised it is active in the US because if we compare it to the USPTO, SS has a registration date (when USPTO allowed Nintendo’s trademark).
Tumblr media
Ocarina of Time has 2020 trademarks with some pending in CA, NZ, etc and some active in AU, US, JP, etc. All under video game categories. Not surprised it is active in the US since in the USPTO, it has a registration date.
Tumblr media
Majora’s Mask has 2020 trademarks with some pending in CA, NZ, US, etc and some active in JP and AU. All under video game categories. It is pending on WIPO in the US and it also does not have a registration date in the USPTO database.
Tumblr media
Wind Waker has 2020 trademarks with some pending in CA, US, NZ, etc and active in JP and AU. All under video game categories. Again, pending in the US and no registration date for the UPSTO.
Tumblr media
Twilght Princess has 2006-2008 trademarks with them being active in JP, US, KR (Republic of Korea). All under video game categories.
What does this all mean? We already know that Skyward Sword is coming. So maybe Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Wind Waker will be coming soon but I don’t know when. I think pending/registration dates may be a factor as to the timeline, especially in countries with a big gaming demographic. But again, there are still decent size countries with pending status for Skyward Sword, so there may be more to it. I don’t think Twilight Princess will be coming soon considering all the evidence and especially since it was already got ported in 2016 onto the Wii U, but maybe one day TP fans. I have been sitting on the USPTO info for a while and wanted to let somebody know, and now seems like the time.
Again, I am not versed on trademark terminology. Any extra information that isn’t directly from the databases came from a quick google search and my skimmed over analysis of it.
Edit: Ignore the next paragraph. I was an angry gremlin by time I finished this and was venting.
If there are any errors and I was not clear, I have been working on this for five hours. I also realized that WIPO was a thing while making this, so I had to go and research it. Tumblr glitched and ruined half my progress. It is also 5am where I am. I am tired.
But I hope you all learned some new information from this post. Also here are the links for the databases if you want to do your own research.
USPTO (click search our trademark database, I used basic word mark search) : https://www.uspto.gov/trademarks/search
WIPO (Just type in the box by text but make sure to delete the search below goods/services if moving on to another search)  : https://www3.wipo.int/branddb/en/

Le Intro!
Tumblr media
🎵 Oh youth, guided by the servant of the goddess,
unite earth and sky, and bring light to the land.
Oh youth, show the two whirling sails the way to the Light Tower...
and before you a path shall open, and a heavenly song you shall hear. 🎵
------------------------------------------
Hey guys! How you doing? I'm Shiro. I'm quite a new Tumblr user and I hope for those of you who see this post (and are veterans of Tumblr) will take care of me 😅
I am a 20 year old (just turned 20 two days ago so a happy late birthday to me XD) girl who's absolutely obsessed with anything Zelda related. I am also a free style fan fiction writer with a wild imagination. I even think I live in Skyloft sometimes! I hope you enjoy the contents I have to offer here!
I'm also a hard core Zelink shipper. Especially in Skyward Sword. The two's dynamics are just so harmonious that it's just hard not to ship them together (can I get an agreement anyone?). Really, I absolutely love the Legend of Zelda fandom and I hope you'd feel the same as me XD
I also loved the Linked Universe idea and is trying to come up with some of my own AUs of LoZ that anyone may be interested of. In fact, I do have some of my own headcanons with some LoZ characters that some of you may agree with. Lemme know if you love the stories that I would write in the future. Can't wait to hear your feedbacks!
Anyways. This is about it. Thanks for reading my cringy introduction. May the Goddess Hylia smile upon you!

blakeworther- I personally I love your hc’s so much- any au’s or anything ya got for them? I really wanna know more about what goes on.
This was once again a BAD QUESTION TO ASK
Aside from the Skyward Sword AU, which I never went back to again, there’s only one AU that I like for Blakeworther, which is the AU that I like for everything ever. I’m not even sure I consider it a true AU, even though it absolutely is. So, okay, I have this thing called the WHAM ARMY, which is a massive crossover group of my favorite villains (led by the eight who make up the acronym but this ain’t about them). Obviously, because Victor, Vincent, and Albert are all pretty firmly villains (even if they lean “those weird morally bereft people we end up being friends with somehow”), I want them to join the WHAM ARMY. So my thoughts for them here are pretty much how they’d react in a multicrossover setting, which of my other villain loves they’d get along with, and what the intro arc is for them. Keep in mind I haven’t gotten here in the fanfic yet, so some of this could change in practice, but here are my plans right now.
Cringe ahead.
-They aren’t the originals. I want to make something that doesn’t trip over canon’s current trajectory, even though I don’t know exactly where canon is going, so what happens is that Vexen (Kingdom Hearts) is going to rebuild the three of them as replicas, since he can easily find memory cores for Victor and Vincent in Myers’ storage rooms and there’s just going to be an Albert core there for no reason.
-Vexen then pulls some Chain of Memories magic and restricts the memories they have access to. They will only remember things we have literally seen in VTSOM/TWDAK, and then I can have him release more of their memory banks to them as we get more chapters. (Even if they all three get redemption arcs, my replica versions can stay little shits!)
-He DOES NOT tell them that they’re not the originals! For all they know, they fell asleep at the last day they remember and woke up here. But they figure it out on their own despite his best efforts. They still want to get their memories back anyway so they know what the people they were replicated from were like and have a framework to build their personalities from.
-Yes, of course they’re cyborgs! Cyborg replicas. Since they’re operating by KH rules, they prooooobably don’t need to eat human meat? But also I like when villains do fucked-up things and I have jokes about the others packaging “cyborg chow” to embarrass them so maybe they still do engage in a little cannibalism, as a treat
-Each was engineered with a different specialty. Vincent’s is raw physical strength; he can walk into a gunfight without even needing a weapon and still have a chance of winning. Victor’s arms have been upgraded to hold a variety of cannons; he’s the team sniper. Albert is the team “mage”; he can conjure Dream Eaters. In this AU, TWDAK Dream Eaters and KH Dream Eaters are basically the same thing. Albert has mastered a strange art of being able to draw Dream Pieces out of the Realm of Sleep and implant them in physical forms of creatures in the waking world, creating his army. They look like they do because he hates the pastel aesthetic of KH Dream Eaters and redesigned his personal ones to look more fitting with his aesthetic. He’s also a speedster.
-The intro mission involves Vexen attempting to track down a newly-rebuilt Xion (this AU is divergent from KHIII) in Radiant Garden so he can bring her back under his control with some brainwashing. I’m also bringing in the Tsviets as past experiments of Vexen’s, so he’s basically pitting his newer models of experiment against his old ones.
-The party he already has built by this point is going to be Demyx, Simon Laurent (Infinity Train), Tsumugi Shirogane (DanganRonpa), skekSil (The Dark Crystal), and a couple other people I haven’t hinted at instory yet and don’t quite want to spoil. But Simon, Tsumugi, and skekSil will all also be Vexen’s creations - Simon and skekSil are replicas and Tsumugi is an android.
-Vincent, Victor, and Albert wake up for the first time, and while Vincent and Victor remember each other as friends, they’re just like “And why is our nemesis from RMU also here?”
-Albert probably fights with Vincent for dominance of the trio and I’m not sure which one of them is the trio leader at this point.
-I moved Nine Bean Hill from World of Final Fantasy to Radiant Garden because Radiant Garden needs a coffee shop and first of all, thanks to Hunger Games Simulator fuckery, my friends and I have an in-joke about Vincent Edgeworth having an eternal grudge against Dunkacino, so I’m going to use the coffee shop to reference this somehow without having to put actual Corporate Brainwashed Al Pacino in this ‘verse
-But also I like to think Lann and Reynn play a lot of bubblegum pop, so catch Victor and Albert dancing to the PA like idiots and then getting Demyx, skekSil, and Simon in on it while Vincent and Vexen are like “Oh God why are these our friends”
-(There are reasons this particular Demyx goes by a different name instory and it’s weirding me out to type “Demyx” for this post)
-Without spoiling too much of the arc, there IS a part where Blakeworther beats up the Tsviets, there IS a part where they battle the Anima summon from FFX and win, and there IS a part where despite all of this, Xion kicks their asses across the city
-They go through this mission seeing each other as partners and friends (though Vincent and Albert are reluctant to use the “friend” word at first), but after they all get back to base, they’re just...suddenly overwhelmed with the fact that they’re strangers in a strange land missing half their memories.
-They room together, and they end up crawling into the same bed for solidarity reasons. This is actually where I first envisioned the “rough day” sleeping position - Vincent and Victor are chest-to-chest, then Albert just snuggles in behind Victor and the other two are like “Okay, we’re gonna just let this happen” and Vincent and Albert touch at one tangent point where their arms cross.
-The days might get a little rougher after they realize they aren’t even the originals.
-Eventually they assimilate into the chaos house with no problem.
-Vincent tends to hang out with the party poopers of the house. Especially Mozenrath (Aladdin: The Animated Series). (P.S. If there are any VTSOM fans out there who also know the 90s Aladdin TV series...I CAN’T be the only one who noticed the surface similarities here, right?)
-Victor Blake and Roman Torchwick (RWBY). Oh, God, this is the hell duo. They’re party animals who love to dance and drink and dance drunk. It was not a good idea to let these two redheads meet.
-Albert and Neopolitan (RWBY)! They both love stabbing people and Victorian button boots! I actually kinda have this idea that they would pick up more fucked-up serial killer types to hang out with them - Mad Madam Mim (The Sword in the Stone) is their patron despite being a much tamer example, but Albert also decides he really likes Scaramouche (Samurai Jack), Junko Enoshima (DanganRonpa), and Jerome Valeska (Gotham).
-For a real deep cut, Albert also opens up a joint Dream Therapy office with Dr. Cheshire Broach (Crypt TV). It’s either called “Krueger & Broach” or “Broach & Krueger” depending on how long it takes either to notice that the other moved his name to the front of the sign again. You should ABSOLUTELY not trust either of these men to give you legitimate therapy (though if you’re good friends with them, they can and will use their dreamon powers to help you best your nightmares in a bloody fashion).
-Actually this ‘verse is the entire reason I thought of them doing drag karaoke to “United We Stand” by Amberian Dawn because the WHAM ARMY is all about karaoke, drag, and any combination of the two
-I haven’t decided yet if their romance will be a slow burn or a faster affair. I’m expecting them to tell me as I write out the fic. But I think in a lot of respects, it’s going to be more of a friends-to-lovers story than their original forms had. The three of them are forced to become an elite cyborg warrior unit created by the same mad scientist, they had a big bonding mission together where they became ride or die (whether or not they want to admit it), and eventually...we can start revealing that they’re CATCHING FEELINGS.
-The WHAM ARMY has many, many power couples and ships of various numbers of people but Blakeworther ends up becoming yet another POWER THROUPLE around base, and it’s understood that messing with one of them will earn the wrath of the other two
-They go on to assist in many, many missions with the purpose of taking over various worlds and kingdoms and just fucking them up
-Vincent Edgeworth will kill the TBTC equivalent of Dunkacino
You have to understand that TBTC is my hyperfixation to end all hyperfixations. Every piece of fiction I touch ends up related to it in some way. At some point the majority of how I interact with Blakeworther is going to be through this AU. I’m just a sucker for crossovers and villains having a place to be bros and party.

Wild SSBU guessing
Just taking wild stabs at characters that might or might not make the roster. Most of these will be some of the popular characters that people have wanted in Smash 4 (as we’ve seen with Daisy, Ridley, Chrom, Dark Samus, and King K. Rool).
First, Echo Fighters of currently-confirmed fighters.
- Ninten (Ness): Likely uses Lucas’s PK Freeze for the standard special, since EarthBound Beginnings doesn’t have PK Flash. - Special moves: PK Freeze, PK Fire, PK Thunder, PSI Magnet - Final Smash: PK Beam Gamma - Black Shadow (Captain Falcon): I’m...not sure how to differentiate him enough from Ganondorf. Maybe just make him mostly like Melee Ganondorf? - Special moves: Shadow Punch, Dark Boost, Evil Dive, Wicked Kick - Final Smash: Black Bull - Impa (Sheik): Hopefully Skyward Sword design so she can use that blue energy to generate her tools. - Special moves: similar to Sheik’s specials - Final Smash: same as Sheik - Shadow (Sonic): Looking hopeful with Richter’s big reveal. Maybe use Chaos energy to expand the reach of his attacks - they could also be slower but stronger. Up special could be a teleport, like from Mewtwo or Palutena. - Special moves: Homing Attack, Spin Dash, Chaos Warp, Spin Charge - Final Smash: Chaos Blast - Celica (Robin): Main differences I can see are: use only Beloved Zofia (better than Bronze Sword, but weaker than Levin Sword), magic in special moves and weak attacks do some damage to herself, and use a variant of Marth’s Counter with Plenitude for refilling health. - Special moves: Ragnarok (like Arcthunder without charge), Seraphim (like Arcfire), Excalibur (pretty much just Elwind), Plenitude - Final Smash: Ragnarok Omega - Octoling (Inkling): The only real difference would be weapons. I’ll guess Octo Shot (which is exactly the same as a Splattershot, really), Octobrush, Range Blaster, Bloblobber (to add range to the smash attacks), Carbon Roller (faster than Splat Roller, but can’t bury), and Burst Bomb (explodes on contact with anything). - Special moves: Octo Shot, Carbon Roller, Super Jump, Burst Bomb - Final Smash: Tenta Missiles (works like Snake’s FS)
Now general newcomers (with possible Echo Fighters to go with them).
- Paper Mario: People have wanted him for the longest time. - He could take cues from all his starring games. Maybe Spin Smash, Tornado Jump, and Quake Hammer for smash attacks... - The spin dash from the first Paper Mario as a dash attack... - Specials moves: Hurlhammer, Paper Plane, Spring Jump, ??? - Final Smash: Fan Thing (mash button for more damage, like in Sticker Star and Color Splash) - Geno: Many found it suspect that the Geno costume in Smash 4′s DLC season got a special mention. Perhaps it’s a step closer to making Geno playable? Or Assist Trophy, but we all know what the people want. - Could be a projectile normal user for some attacks, like with Villager. - Special moves: Geno Beam, Geno Whirl, Geno Blast, Geno Boost - Final Smash: Geno Flash - Bandanna Dee: Popularity card. - Could primarily use his Spear, but might use some Parasol moves as well (like in Kirby Battle Royale). - Special moves: Spear Throw, Circus Throw (grab), Spear Copter, Parasol Twirl - Final Smash: Megaton Punch - Gardevoir: Some leak a month ago predicted King K. Rool, Richter, and Dark Samus (under Samus, he said) in some demo build, along with code names for “Mario2“, Gardevoir, and Gothitelle. Could have been coincidence, but I’ll humor it. Gardevoir does have the popularity card, after all, and can fill in that Gen-3 niche in the roster. - Side smash could be a “small black hole“, with a vacuum effect that draws foes in before sending them flying. - Special moves: Future Sight, Dazzling Gleam, Trick Room, Reflect - Final Smash: Moonblast (Mega Evolves) - Echo Fighter: Gothitelle: This would also fill the Gen-5 niche, I think. And this wouldn’t be the first time Gardevoir and Gothitelle were seen together (Black/White anime, with Anthea and Concordia). - Special moves: Future Sight, Dark Pulse, Trick Room, Reflect - Final Smash: Shattered Psyche - Primarina: Not ignoring the Gen-7 niche, either. Honestly, this could be any of the Alolan starters, but I personally REALLY want Primarina the most. - Special moves: Sparkling Aria, Disarming Voice, Aqua Jet, Icy Wind - Sparkling Aria could generate some water balloons, which Primarina can send flying around with attacks, footstool jump off of, or detonate by using Sparkling Aria again. - Disarming Voice would be a projectile. If it makes contact with a water balloon, it can split into three projectiles through it. - Icy Wind would push foes at mid-range, or freeze them at close-range. - Final Smash: Oceanic Operetta - Alm: Not a high priority, but since Ultimate brought in the lead three of Awakening, then I don’t think I could guess Celica without Alm as well. - He always has a shield, so he could use that for some super-armored normal attacks. And he might be heavier than any other Fire Emblem fighter (since he’s in full armor all the time). One special could also use a bow (which he can use as a Hero/Conqueror). - Special moves: Double Lion, Hunter Volley, Windsweep, Pavise - Pavise here isn’t a counter, but a shield bash that can parry direct attacks, leaving foes open, and maybe also nullify projectiles. - Final Smash: Scendscale - Isabelle: Popularity card. Though I’m not sure what she’d do...Maybe set things around the arena, like small buildings? - Rex: Xenoblade 2 development started in mid-2014, so there must have been plenty of time to acquire him, I’m sure. - Pyra/Mythra might not be on-stage all the time - just for certain moves, like smash attacks and throws (kinda like with Peach’s Toad). But since Rex can change their form in battle, he could use this to become a sort of stance-change fighter. - Pyra’s version of the Aegis Sword could focus on damage and range, while Mythra’s version focuses on attack speed and launch power. - Smash attacks can use Pyra and Mythra’s Blade Specials. - Side smash: Flame Nova/Lightning Buster - Up smash: Blazing End/Photon Edge - Down smash: Prominence Revolt/Ray of Punishment - Special moves: Anchor Shot (grab), Rolling Smash, Crushing Typhoon (with Roc), Blade Switch - Final Smash: Chain Attack - Wonder-Red: Popularity card. Also, there’s already two Wonderful 101 tracks in the game, so why not? - His main feature could be Unite Charge to buff up his Unite Hand’s power for certain moves, like smash attacks, throws, and at least one special. Using these moves, or taking too much damage, will weaken the duration of Unite Hand’s current level. - Smash attacks could be based on Wonderful Stinger, Wonderful Rising, and Wonderful Cyclone. A full-charged smash attack with max Unite Charge level could be dangerously powerful. - Special moves: Unite Hand Flame, Team Unite Morph, Wonder-Jump, Unite Charge - Team Unite Morph can cycle between Wonder-Red’s allies to summon for different effects (or hold to cycle through faster). - Wonder-Blue’s Unite Sword can use a broad reflecting slash. - Wonder-Green’s Unite Gun can fire a few projectiles. - Wonder-Pink’s Unite Whip can reel a foe in closer. - Wonder-Yellow’s Unite Hammer can deal a strong meteor smash. - Wonder-White’s Unite Claw can trap foes in a rapid claw combo. - Wonder-Black’s Unite Bomb can inflict slow status on foes. - Final Smash: Wonderful Forever - Spring Man: Eh, might as well throw this one in. He seems to be one of the more expected Switch characters to join, though also one of the most controversial. - Weak attack might operate differently, by throwing one ARM forth at a time and returning as soon as it hits a foe. You can throw the other ARM out while the other one is flying, and you can repeat this for a while. - Strong attacks could have variable range depending on whether you tap or hold the button. Tap deals a fast close-range punch, and hold deals a long-range punch with more power at the apex. - Smash attacks could use the Megaton ARM. Charge determines how far out it goes. - Special moves: Boomerang ARM, Grappling ARMS (grab), Bounce-Back, ARMS Charge - Boomerang ARM can be curved tightly on input. - ARMS Charge will give a temporary boost to Spring Man’s ARM attacks with different effects. The standard Toasty ARMS for his normal attacks gain damage power, the Boomerang ARM gains launch power, and the Megaton ARM becomes larger and stronger. - ARMS Charge itself can emit a shockwave to repel most attacks and let him drop quickly in midair. - Final Smash: Rush Attack - Echo Fighter: Ribbon Girl: I’ve seen so many people want Ribbon Girl either instead of Spring Man, as an alt of Spring Man, or with Spring Man. Well, with Echo Fighters, the latter could happen. - Main difference, I think, would be her Sparky ARMS and Slapamander ARM. Sparky ARMS, with ARMS Charge, wouldn’t gain damage but a light paralyzing effect. Slapamander wouldn’t curve as tightly as Boomerang, but its hitbox would be big, and its ARMS Charge effect would be extra damage. - Also, her ARMS Charge wouldn’t have the shockwave, but she could drop down even faster. - Special moves: Slapamander ARM, Grappling ARMS (grab), Bounce-Back, ARMS Charge - Final Smash: Rush Attack
And finally, a few third-party characters that I expect will be big picks.
- Shantae: With Shovel Knight in the Assist Trophies, I think Shantae is the biggest indie pick now. And WayForward has publicly given support for Shantae for Smash. - Banjo-Kazooie: There’s quite a bit of Rare stuff in Smash now - King K. Rool, Klaptrap, and Krystal in her Adventures appearance. So this duo seems quite likely. The support has also been given Microsoft’s blessings. - Sora: ...I mean, if Disney allows it, then he could happen. He’s been requested ever since Brawl, after all. But I suppose Final Fantasy would take first priority for Square-Enix in Smash - now that Cloud’s in, anything else from them goes, I guess. - Since I know so much about Kingdom Hearts, I can actually think of some Smash moves for Sora. He’s got a lot of combo steps that he can use for normal attacks and stuff. - Special moves: Strike Raid, Tornado Strike, Flowmotion, Ragnarok - Final Smash: Salvation - Echo Fighter: Riku: My wildest Echo Fighter guess, I know. Still, the two games where Riku co-starred with Sora as a playable hero debuted on Nintendo handhelds, so that could be enough significance to make him an Echo? - Special moves: Spark Raid, Gravity Strike, Flowmotion, Dark Firaga - Final Smash: Dark Aura - Amaterasu: Just another Kamiya pick thrown in just because. Okami was pretty popular on Wii and now Switch, after all, and I’ve seen her requested a lot. - She’ll likely just attack with Divine Retribution for most of her moves, but could use the Devout Beads Rosary and the Tsumugari Glaive for a few other attacks, along with Power Slash. - Special moves: Firestorm, Cherry Bomb, Greensprout, Solar Flare - With Firestorm, draw a path to set off a trail of fire. Or, draw an infinity symbol around Amaterasu to use Inferno, a strong attack focused around Amaterasu’s vicinity. - Greensprout has different effects on the ground and in the air. On the ground, it grows a small tree in front to block attacks. In the air, it uses a vine and a Konohana Blossom to pull Amaterasu to safety. - Solar Flare is primarily a reflecting move, but if it intercepts a direct attack right at the start, she’ll counterattack with an explosive flare. - Final Smash: Sunrise (might be somewhat like Rosalina & Luma’s Power Star)
...And, that is my nonsensical ramble on characters I’d like to see in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Obviously, I don’t expect ALL of these in. Just some of them, at least.

Top 15 Smash Bros Newcomers Wishlist!
Okay, I do have some stuff to stay about and around the actual list, but I know you guys don’t care about all that boring stuff, so LIST FIRST!!!
15) Tracer (Overwatch) – I don’t play Overwatch, and I honestly think it’s influence on the games industry has been a net negative, something something loot boxes. But the fact remains that Overwatch is really, friggin popular, and Tracer is really friggin popular in it. She seems like a good character, and would probably work well in Smash. Plus, it would be really cool to have an openly gay character in the game.
14) Sora (Kingdom Hearts) – Sora is great, and his fighting style would be unique among the sword fighters in Smash. And considering the legacy of Kingdom Hearts as a franchise, and the upcoming #3, it seems like the perfect time to add him.
13) The TMNT (TMNT) – Though not originating in video games, these four were practically made for them, with so many classic and awesome games being made in their image. Each turtle could be an alt costume character, they’d all have they’re own specials, their Final Smash would unite them, do I even need to say anything else?
12) Steve/Alex (Minecraft) – But ONLY if they walk in the same stiff, rigid way that they do in the game! That would be both fitting, and hilarious.
11) Ribbon Girl (Arms) – I honestly can’t think of a way for them to easily incorporate her moves without making her crazy OP, but it could happen! Anyway, she’s on the list pretty much because I think she would be super fun to use.
10) Dixie Kong (DKC) – I’m not personally a big fan of DKC, but I know a lot of people who are, and who are fans of her in particular. So yeah, doeet Nintendo!
9) The Boy & the Blob (A Boy and His Blob) – The NES game would qualify it for a deep cut Nintendo lore pick, the reboot on the Wii was really friggin good, and these guys would provide a unique spin on the Two In One Fighter. Also, if this did happen, it would be absolutely ESSENTIAL that the Down B be a hug, in homage to the hug button in the Wii game. If it was the Down B, it could increase attack power briefly! Or, failing that, it could be a taunt?
8) Captain N (Captain N: The Game Master) – Yet another deep cut Nintendo lore character! This guy almost seems like he was made for Smash. His neutral B would be the Zapper, his other moves could be based on NES sprites, it would be a really cool nostalgia trip, just, ugh, so awesome. They could even build him from the ground up to be one big homage to classic NES stuff, like how Pac-Man represents a lot of arcade era Namco Bandai games!
7) Rygar (Rygar) – My last deep cut Nintendo character, but this one is the most justified out of the three, I feel. Rygar was one of the earliest NES games, it was really cool, and his yo yo shield thing would make for a really unique weapon!
6) Team Rocket (Pokemon) – Not super into Pokemon, but this seems like an obvious choice. If it were up to me, I’d go with Jessie and James as the trainers, but their game counterparts would work fine. As to the actual Pokemon they’d be using, I honestly have no idea.
5) Shovel Knight (Shovel Knight) – Once again, hella obvious. He should just be in Smash. He’d be awesome, he’d have so many cool moves, it would be awesome for the fans of Shovel Knight, it just needs to happen. The only real question here is whether Shield Knight should be included here, and them be a Two In One Fighter. The only reason why I didn’t put her on the list alongside him is because I’m honestly not sure how that would work, mechanically.
4) Impa (Zelda) -I just really want her in Smash. I honestly don’t care if they use her Ocarina of TIme, Skyward Sword or Hyrule Warriors designs. I just really love Zelda, and she would just be really, really cool.
3) Midna + Wolf Link (Zelda) – SO FRIGGIN COOL!!!!
2) Amaterasu (Okami) – Okami was a really, really good game, and Ammy in Smash would be perfect. I close my eyes, and I can picture her moves, her zipping across the stage, her barking at the other characters. And a lot of her moves in Okami could be put directly into the game!
1) Proto Man (Megaman) – I love Megaman so much. It really was amazing for me to see him in Smash, and the way they made him so accurate to the games, even though it clashed with the usual design philosophy of other characters in the Smash? It seemed too good to be true. Now, if they could just do exactly that, but with Rock's rival? That would be PERFECT! Honestly, I would be fine with him having the exact same Robot Master powers as Megaman, but there’s one thing I would definitely have to insist one, if I had any say in the matter: Proto Man is often represented as being more powerful than Megaman, but more fragile. So maybe increase his damage output while also making him lighter to represent that? Idk, but either way, I just really want this character in Smash.
Okay, first thing’s first. Captain N and the Turtles aren’t video game characters by design, and Smash Brothers has always only had video game characters. And yes, that is true, but it doesn’t have to STAY true.
Even if they’re not originally video game characters, they are inextricably tied to video games, by the premise of the Captain N cartoon, and by the fact that the Turtles have had a LOT of good games. Turtles In Time for the arcades and the SNES is considered by many to be one of the best Beat Em Ups of all time. So by the standard of being connected to video games, and to Nintendo’s golden age, they both qualify.
Moreover, I do think that Smash branching out from video game characters as candidates is necessary for the franchise to continue, if it does so after Ultimate, just as they branched out from first party characters.
Also, you may have noticed that there are several characters that are not on this list, being King K Rool, Banjo-Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot and Waluigi. That’s because I personally really don’t care about these characters. And if they did get added, I probably wouldn’t play them, just like probably never going to touch Ridley.
On the flip side of that coin, there were several characters who I REEEEEEALY want to be in Smash Brothers, but I refrained from adding them because they would either be impossible, for not especially viable. And I didn’t want to make this list a waste of everyone’s time by making it 100% self serving. Two of these characters include Fi, from Zelda, and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I want to close off this post by saying that, even though these characters being in Smash would make my day, I honestly wouldn’t mind if none of them made it. I everything I could have hoped and more has been delivered in Smash Ultimate. I am so excited to play it, and I have such respect for Sakurai and crew, because it is very clear to me that there is so much love going into this game. December can’t come fast enough! @supersmashbroscentral

15 Best Legend of Zelda Boss Fights Ever
https://ift.tt/3ine4lg
Boss fights have been one of the pillars of The Legend of Zelda series since its inception. Link enters a dungeon, finds a new weapon, and often uses it to take out the big baddie that’s established residence there. It’s a solid formula that’s worked for over three decades now.
Not all Zelda bosses are created equally, though. Many are easily forgotten. Others, like Ocarina of Time’s Water Temple guardian Morpha…well, we just wish we could forget them. Of course, we’re here to celebrate the bosses that often defined the games they were in and helped establish The Legend of Zelda as one of the greatest series in gaming history.
You might also notice that some of the better Zelda games, namely Breath of the Wild and Link’s Awakening, aren’t represented on this list, while some of the more maligned games in the series do show up. The bosses on this list don’t necessarily hail from the best Legend of Zelda games, but they are among the most unique and creative in the history of this in the storied franchise.
15. Crayk – The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
With its low overall difficulty level and emphasis on using the DS’s touch screen controls, Phantom Hourglass isn’t well regarded by many Zelda fans. Still, it’s hard not to be impressed with the ways Nintendo intelligently used the handheld’s two screens as the basis for one of the series’ most unforgettable boss fights.
Crayk turns invisible on the bottom screen, but on the top screen, you can see the room from his point of view. You have to use the top screen to figure out exactly where Crayk is so you can shoot an arrow at his eye and turn him visible before going in for big damage.
14. Helmasaur King – The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The Zelda series started in 2D, and while those early games are all-time classics, most of the bosses from that era honestly haven’t aged that well. However, Helmasaur King, the first boss in A Link to the Past’s Dark World, is still a standout all these years later.
First, Link has to use bombs or arrows to remove the giant lizard’s mask. It’s only then that you can expose this boss’ weak point and finally go in for the kill. It may sound simple, but that combination of action and puzzle-solving became the template for most future boss fights in the series.
13. Vaati – The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
The Minish Cap is an oddball Zelda game for a few reasons. Capcom handled development instead of Nintendo, it’s the final fully 2D “classic” Zelda game to date, and it’s one of the few games in the series that doesn’t even mention Ganondorf.
The evil sorcerer Vaati may not get as much love as Ganondorf, but he is the star of this epic multi-stage final boss fight. This battle requires Link to use all of the abilities he’s acquired during his adventure just to survive. That means dividing himself with the Four Sword to take out Vaati’s four eyes simultaneously before shrinking himself to enter the mage’s arms and deal damage from the inside out.
12. Gohma – The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Gohma is far from the toughest Zelda boss (he’s actually the very first dungeon boss in Wind Waker), but he makes up for a lack of difficulty with his imposing design and the fact he’s just so much fun to beat up. Gohma may be an absolutely massive, armored, fire-breathing bug unit, but it turns out that armor doesn’t help him much when Link shows up.
The key to defeating Gohma is to hookshot the tail of Valoo (the dragon you’re there to rescue). That will make Valoo drop rubble on Gohma’s head, giving Link the opening he needs to hookshot Gohma’s eye and go in with his sword. This fight is just a fantastic combination of mechanics, environment, and execution.
11. Goht – The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
With its 72-hour time loop and complete absence of series mainstay Ganondorf, Majora’s Mask was the first title in the series to break away from a lot of The Legend of Zelda’s conventions and redefine what a Zelda game could be. Some gamers dislike it for that. Personally, I’m a big fan.
While most of the temples and bosses in Majora’s Mask don’t stray from Ocarina of Time too much, Goht is the appropriately giant exception. This massive bull creature charges around a circular arena throughout the battle and the only way to stop it is to change into Link’s Goron form and ram him at full speed. It’s a boss fight mixed with a destruction derby, and it’s a truly unique encounter for this franchise.
10. King Bulbin – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Most of the better boss fights in Zelda history focus on creative uses of the various items Link finds. King Bulbin isn’t one of those fights. Actually, the first phase is just a mad dash through Hyrule Field as Link, on horseback, tries to hack away at Bulbin while being swarmed by even more riders.
What really elevates this battle, though, is the iconic duel on the Bridge of Eldin. You only have to hit the king with your sword twice to defeat him, but without any guard rails, it’s easy to fall to your death. There’s a reason why this moment has been immortalized as a Super Smash Bros. stage. It’s one of the most memorable scenes in franchise history.
9. Dark Link – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Dark Link is technically a sub-boss, but this encounter is too cool to leave off the list. You meet Dark Link near the end of Ocarina of Time’s much-maligned Water Temple in what at first seems to be an unusually calm room. It’s only when Link’s reflection in the water goes missing that it becomes apparent that something is amiss.
No matter how you attack Dark Link with the Master Sword, he will counter your moves perfectly. It’s that premise, and the way it forces you to find new ways to deal with such a powerful foe, combined with the set-up that makes this one of the most creative bosses in any Zelda game.

8. Argorok – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Throughout its many installments, the Zelda series has actually been really good about coming up with unique enemy designs. So if a somewhat generic dragon shows up, he better put up one hell of a fight. Thankfully, Argorok delivers.
Argorok starts the fight in the air but can creatively be brought to the ground by latching on to him with your double clawshot and then equipping your iron boots to bring him crashing down. That takes care of the dragon’s armor, but it’s not the end of the fight, as Link spends the rest of the battle using his clawshot to zip around while targeting the weak spot on Argorok’s back.
7. Twinrova – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Ocarina of Time is full of memorable boss battles, but Twinrova stands out as the best temple guardian boss in the game.
The first phase of the battle requires Link to absorb this pair’s elemental attacks (fire and ice) with his newly obtained mirror shield before reflecting them back at the sister who controls the opposite element. That’s not the end of the battle, though, as the sisters combine into one entity for the final showdown. This time, Link has to absorb each element three consecutive times before firing back at Twinrova and finishing the job with some truly satisfying sword strikes.
6. Stalblind – The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
A Link Between Worlds really doesn’t get enough recognition for being an excellent spiritual sequel to the beloved A Link to the Past as well as one of the better showcases of stereoscopic 3D on the 3DS. That technology is used to power Link’s best new skill in this game: the ability to turn himself into a flat piece of art and do his best sidescroller impression.
That ability is essential for a lot of the game’s puzzles, but one of its best uses is found in the fight against Stalblind. This massive boss uses a shield to block Link’s attacks, but Link can turn himself flat onto Stalblind’s shield, which confuses the enemy and forces him to put the shield on his back. That’s the only opening Link needs in this simple, yet brilliant, boss fight.
5. Puppet Ganon – The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
While many Wind Waker fans think the final battle with Ganondorf is the best in the game (and one of the best in the series), it’s ultimately a fairly simple fight, even if the setting is quite dramatic. Puppet Ganon is just a much more strategic encounter, and I’d argue that the setting is even better.
First, this is a really cool incarnation of Ganon unlike anything else in the franchise. It probably wouldn’t even work in another game, but here, Wind Waker’s cartoony style gives the puppet boss an especially creepy vibe. It’s really rather haunting watching this entity’s limbs dangle limply as it moves around the room before morphing into its even freakier spider and worm forms. It’s also ingenious how each of the forms requires you to use skills gained throughout the game to put this puppet away forever.
4. Stallord – The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The fight against Stallord doesn’t even feel like a traditional Zelda boss fight, but that actually works to its advantage.
Stallord is certainly one of the cooler-looking bosses in the series (it’s a giant demonic fossil protruding from the sand), but the creature is no match for Link’s trusty Spinner: a top that kind of acts like a skateboard. Even Nintendo couldn’t resist cashing in on Tony Hawk. The Spinner is mostly used to ride rails, but in the first phase of the Stallord battle, Link uses it to dodge enemies and crash into the resurrected fossil. The second phase is even better, with Link riding the spinner up a pillar to take down Stallord’s floating, fireball spewing skull.
3. Koloktos – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Though it was well-reviewed at launch, a lot of gamers have turned sour on Skyward Sword over the last decade for a simple reason: its motion controls were unreliable. Still, there’s a solid Zelda game under the frustration, and when the controls do work, they really enhance the game. So far as that goes, Koloktos is the prime example of Skyward Sword at its very best.
To defeat this six-armed automaton, Link first has to use his newly acquired whip to remove the arms Koloktos uses to guard his weak point. Deal enough damage, and Koloktos then grabs six swords for each of its hands. You’ll again have to use the whip to remove his arms, but this time, you have to pick up one of the swords it drops to slash at the weak spot for massive damage. It’s an oddly visceral and satisfying boss fight that stands out even when compared to the best encounters in the series.
2. Majora’s Mask – The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Between the magical masks, 72-hour time loop, and the ever-looming threat of the moon crashing into everything, Majora’s Mask is one trippy game. It’s fitting, then, that the final battle against the titular villain is truly psychedelic. After stopping the apocalypse and entering the moon, Link finally comes face-to-face with Majora’s Mask. The first phase just sees the mask floating around a hallucinatory room, but for the next two phases, the creature sprouts legs and, finally, tentacles.
There are actually two ways to defeat Majora’s Mask: the strategic way or the badass way. The first method requires switching masks and strategies and quickly moving around the room while carefully avoiding attacks. The second method, which is arguably more fun, is to obtain all 23 masks in the game and collect the all-powerful Fierce Deity Mask for your efforts. That mask allows a nearly invincible Link to just beat the hell out of Majora’s Mask in a couple of minutes. No other Zelda game ends quite like that, but then again, there’s no other Zelda game quite like Majora’s Mask.
1. Ganondorf/Ganon – The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
There might be some bias here for those of us who grew up playing Ocarina of Time, but more than two decades later, this boss fight still holds up remarkably well.
First, there’s the atmosphere and sense of foreboding. After several dozen hours adventuring through Hyrule, gathering the seven sages, and breaching Ganondorf’s castle, you finally confront the face of all evil in the land…and he’s eerily playing his theme on the organ. Admittedly, the first phase of this fight is kind of silly (it’s basically a game of tennis as Link and Ganondorf exchange a ball of energy back and forth), but where this boss fight truly stands out is in its second phase. It’s there that you confront Ganon: a towering pig beast wielding two massive swords in an arena surrounded by a ring of fire. The strategy here is pretty simple (just get behind him and strike his tail repeatedly until Link can land the killing blow) but it’s such a cinematic moment and satisfying conclusion to a classic game that it’s hard not to consider it the best boss fight in franchise history.

In the Legend of Zelda series from Nintendo, Ganon is often depicted as the final “big bad,” desperately trying to take over the Kingdom of Hyrule. From 1986’s The Legend of Zelda to 2020’s Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Ganon is continuingly trying to spread his corruption across the peaceful lands of Hyrule.
While others have also attempted to take over Hyrule, such as Chancellor Cole in Sprit Tracks and Ghirahim from Skyward Sword, none have made such an impression as that of the flame-haired Gerudo King. Thankfully for the many races that inhabit this vast fantasy world, Link is always there to ready his weapons and put Ganon back in his box time and time again.
Related: Zelda: How Old Link Is In Breath of the Wild
As the Legend of Zelda series has developed over the 35 years since its debut on the NES, so has the character of Ganon. His plots, and incarnations, have become more convoluted, extravagant, and cinematic. Here is every time Ganon has attempted to take over Hyrule (and every time Link has prevented him from doing so).
Tumblr media
The game that started it all. 35 years ago, gamers were first introduced to the Kingdom of Hyrule, its plucky hero Link, and the porcine Ganon in The Legend of Zelda. During the game’s introduction, players learn how "Prince of Darkness" Ganon stole the Triforce of Power. To prevent Ganon from finding the piece of Triforce in her procession, Princess Zelda broke the Triforce of Wisdom into eight pieces. Before she is captured by Ganon, Zelda sends her nursemaid, Impa, to find a hero (enter Link) to collect the eight fragments before embarking on defeating Ganon. Link will only come face to face with Ganon in the game’s climatic final battle in Death Mountain. On defeating Ganon, who ends up being an especially difficult foe given his penchant for turning invisible for most of the battle, Link will collect the Triforce of Power from his remains, thus saving the Princess, the Kingdom, and the day.
Tumblr media
While Ganon does not feature per se in this installment of the Legend of Zelda series, his minions are still alive and well, and doing his bidding from beyond the grave following on from his demise in The Legend of Zelda. Should the player receive a Game Over while playing The Adventure of Link, however, Ganon’s henchmen will take the blood of the now fallen Link and sprinkle it over their Master’s corpse to revive him. On doing this, players will receive the sinister message “Game Over. Return of Ganon.”
Tumblr media
Despite being the third time that players will have to save Hyrule from Ganon, chronologically A Link to the Past serves as a prequel to The Legend of Zelda. In this game, Ganon is already sealed away in the Dark World (formerly The Legend of Zelda's Sacred Realm that has now become corrupted with Ganon’s dark influence) after he invaded it and obtained the Triforce. While Ganon is stuck in the Dark World, a wizard called Agahnim captures Princess Zelda in the Light World (Hyrule) and uses his power to send Zelda and Link to the Dark World with Ganon. This all part of an elaborate plan to break the seal that confines Ganon to this realm.
Related: Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 Leaked Names: Every Fake One So Far
Meanwhile, in the Dark World, Ganon controls an avatar of Agahnim within Ganon’s Tower, using this influence to build up his strength before he can proceed to overcome the Light World of Hyrule. When Link finally defeats this avatar of Agahnim in the Dark World, Ganon will rise from the wizard’s now useless body, turn into a bat, and fly to the Pyramid of Power. Here, Link will fight Ganon in his typical hog-esque appearance. When Ganon is finally defeated, Link will be able to touch the Triforce and use his essence of good to return Hyrule and the Sacred Realm to its former splendor. A Link to the Past is also notable for being the first time that the famous Master Sword appears within the Zelda series.
Tumblr media
Perhaps one of the most famous incarnations of Ganon, in Ocarina of Time players learn more about the King of Evil’s history and finally see him in both his human (Ganondorf) and eventual porcine form. This time, Ganon uses Link and Princess Zelda to uncover the three Spiritual Stones within Hyrule to unlock the Door of Time by cursing, releasing monsters into, and infecting the Great Deku Tree, Dodongo’s Cavern, and Lord Jabu-Jabu’s belly. These stones act as a key to the Sacred Realm, where the Triforce is kept.
Not realizing Ganon’s plan, Link uses the stones to unlock the door while Ganon lays siege on Castle Town. As soon as Link pulls the Master Sword from its pedestal, which is hidden behind the Door of Time within the Temple of Time, he is plunged into a seven-year slumber. Ganon takes this opportunity to enter the now open Sacred Realm and steals the Triforce. What Ganon did not count on, however, was the Triforce breaking up into three pieces due to the unbalanced nature of his desires. While Ganon maintains the Triforce of Power, the pieces of Wisdom and Courage go to Princess Zelda and Link, respectively.
In the seven years that Link is in his magical slumber and Princess Zelda is in hiding, Ganon rules over Hyrule while searching for the final two pieces of the Triforce. Once Link awakens as an adult with the power to wield the Master Sword, he sets off to undo the evil that Ganon has allowed to take over Hyrule during his rule. Eventually, Link is able to obtain enough power with the help of Princess Zelda (who has been hiding behind the pretense of being an enigmatic ninja named Sheik) and the newly awoken Sages (who are revealed as Link cleanses certain areas of Hyrule) and can head to Ganon’s Castle to do battle for Hyrule.

After defeating the human form of Ganondorf, and destroying Ganon’s Castle, however, a beast rises from the ruins; Ganon, his dark and powerful final form. Even though Link wins this battle, Ganon still possesses the Triforce of Power and ultimately cannot be killed. Instead, the Sages use their powers to seal Ganon away in the Dark Realm. Before he is fully sealed away though, Ganon vows to “exterminate (the) descendants” of Zelda and Link.
Tumblr media
While this game initially starts on the islands that are scattered across the Great Sea, eventually The Legend of Zelda players will be taken under the waters to the submerged Kingdom of Hyrule. In The Wind Waker’s history, Hyrule was flooded by the goddesses to contain Ganon, and its people fled to higher ground. But a little bit of water will not stop the mighty Ganon from trying with all his might to claim the power that he believes should to be his.
In this game, Ganon is shown several times on the islands above Hyrule, although it is not revealed to be him at first. Instead, he is shown to be the master of the Helmaroc King, who is kidnapping “girls with long ears” for a mysterious reason (which ends up being a bid for Ganon to find the descendant of Princess Zelda). Eventually it transpires that this incarnation of Ganon is a “returned Ganon.” Soon, Ganon recognizes Tetra, the feisty pirate comrade of Link’s in The Wind Waker, as the descendant of Ocarina of Time’s Princess Zelda.
He kidnaps Tetra / Zelda in the hope of uniting the pieces of the Triforce and finally securing his rule over Hyrule. After battling Link and revealing him to be the ancestor of the Hero of Time, Ganon manages to claim the three Triforce pieces and asks the Gods to “expose (Hyrule) to the rays of the sun once more” and to “give Hyrule to (him).” Obviously, he is ultimately unsuccessful. With the help of the King of Hyrule and Princess Zelda, Link once more takes the Master Sword and, after an intense subsea duel, plunges it into Ganon’s face. This results in Ganon being turned into a rocky edifice.
Tumblr media
In the GameCube offering of Hyrule, Ganon once more uses others to do his bidding before his true intentions are exposed. In the case of Four Swords Adventures, it is Shadow Link and Vaati who initially pose a threat to the Kingdom of Hyrule. As the game unfolds, Ganon is revealed to be the brains behind the nightmares that have gripped Hyrule, having stolen both a trident that was full of a powerful magic as well as a Dark Mirror, which he used to create the evil counterpart of Link.
Related: Complete Legend of Zelda Franchise Timeline Explained
Using Shadow Link to kidnap the powerful shrine maidens within Hyrule with the hope that he could add their power to his, Ganon proceeds to murder the Knights of Hyrule and trap their souls in the World of Darkness. Thankfully, Link possesses the Four Sword, and creates three additional clones of himself to battle the forces of evil. Once the Link quartet free the shrine maidens, Link uses their power and the help of Princess Zelda to overcome Ganon and seal him inside the Four Sword. Once more, peace and prosperity are brought back to the Kingdom of Hyrule.

Again, Ganon uses others to do his bidding in Twilight Princess, this time using Zant, King of the Twili, to reign darkness over Hyrule. Zant and Ganondorf made a pact to grant each other the power they desire by overthrowing Hyrule and the Twilight Realm of the Twili. As the story progresses, it is revealed that the Sages of Hyrule once banished Ganon with the Mirror of Twilight after he tried to steal the Triforce. Zant tried to break the Mirror of Twilight, but instead just scattered the pieces across Hyrule as he is not the true ruler of the Twili (it is actually Midna, who is Link’s companion throughout Twilight Princess).
After a lengthy series of quests and temples, Link and Midna defeat Zant before heading to Hyrule Castle to take on Ganondorf. When they find him, Ganondorf possesses Princess Zelda to act as his puppet, before finally turning into a gigantic boar-like beast. Once Link slays this beast, Hyrule Castle begins to collapse. Midna uses her powers to transport Link and Zelda to Hyrule Field, and to safety. This safety does not last long for the heroes, though, as Ganon once more rises up in his human form to do battle with Link. On horseback, and with the help of Princess Zelda and some well-placed Light Arrows, Link knocks Ganon to the ground. Using the always-faithful Master Sword, Link finally plunges it into Ganon’s chest, once more releasing Hyrule from his evil grasp.
Tumblr media
In the most recent games in the Legend of Zelda franchise, Ganon is depicted as a beast of malice and machine. For the Switch era, Nintendo switched it up and created a Hyrule that was already under a significant threat from Ganon and his cronies. In Breath of the Wild, Ganon has already taken Hyrule under his control with the help of the Blight Ganons and hordes of bokoblins and lizalfos when the player's adventure begins. As the story is revealed through unlocked memories, it is shown that Ganon initially tried to conquer Hyrule 10,000 years before the game’s narrative.

At that time, he was locked away by four Champions of Hyrule in their Divine Beasts, a Princess with the blood of the goddesses, and her appointed knight. 9,900 years later however, Hyrule has unevolved and no longer commands the ancient tech of its predecessors. Princess Zelda, along with Link, Impa, Purah, Robi and the other races within Hyrule, have recognized signs that Ganon is once more going to attempt to break free of his seal and reign supreme over their Kingdom. In effort to stop this from happening, the heroes endeavor to learn the ways of their ancestors and control the mechanical beings that won the battle against Ganon 9,900 year prior.
Sadly, Ganon is wily, and manages to possess the Divine Beasts and the Guardians, and Hyrule falls to his malice. During the battle that eventually becomes known as the Great Calamity, Princess Zelda manages to seal Ganon in Hyrule Castle with her newly revealed magic, and a wounded Link is sent to the Chamber of Resurrection. After sleeping for 100 years, Link awakens to a derelict and fearful Hyrule that lives in the shadow of Calamity Ganon, who is trapped within Hyrule Castle and only being kept at bay by Princess Zelda, who is trapped there with him. As Link gets stronger and learns more about the world that he now inhabits, he is able to free the Divine Beasts from Ganon’s power and uses them to fight the malicious beast once more. Soon, Calamity Ganon transforms into his final form of malice and hatred; Dark Beast Ganon. With the added help of Zelda’s Bow of Light, Link defeats Dark Beast Ganon on Hyrule Field, and Zelda is once more free from her entombment within him. Using her magic, Zelda seals Ganon away, and peace is restored to Hyrule.
Age of Calamity, meanwhile takes place before and during the Great Calamity itself. Here, players meet Astor, a Prophet of Doom and follower of Calamity Ganon. Astor uses a Diminutive Guardian that is infected with Ganon’s malice to create Harbinger Ganon. Throughout Age of Calamity, Astor uses Harbinger Ganon to see the future, witnessing the devastation that Calamity Ganon is destined to bring to Hyrule. However, in his final moments Astor is consumed by malice and absorbed into Harbinger Ganon. This combination of powers results in Astor and Harbinger Ganon becoming the game’s ultimate boss; Calamity Ganon. While the end results of this rendition of the Great Calamity differ from how they play out in Breath of the Wild, this final incarnation of Ganon that players face during the games' finales is the same for both Legend of Zelda games available on the Nintendo Switch (so far…).
While Ganon has appeared or been mentioned in other The Legend of Zelda games, he is often being used as part of a greater plan by other antagonists, such as within Oracle of Ages and Seasons. Needless to say, he is certainly one of the most iconic and terrifying baddies in gaming today. Thankfully for the Kingdom of Hyrule, though, Link and Princess Zelda also happen to be two of gaming's most reliable heroes.

Zelda Breath of the Wild news: Incredible Nintendo Switch sales stats REVEALED
Tumblr media
NINTENDO
Zelda Breath of the Wild has sold more units than Nintendo Switch consoles
Zelda: Breath of the Wild has somehow managed to sell more copies than Nintendo Switch consoles.
A month after the Nintendo Switch release date, Nintendo has released official Breath of the Wild sales stats.
Nintendo Switch sold 906,000 units in its first month on sale, while Breath of the Wild racked up 1.3 million sales between Switch and Wii U.
Bizarrely, however, the Nintendo Switch version sold 925,000 units, which is more than the console itself.
This kind of attachment rate is more impressive when you consider that Breath of the Wild wasn't bundled with the Switch console.
It's possible that some fans purchased the Collector's Edition on top of the regular version.

GAME INFORMER 1 of 7
Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild launches March 3
The sales figures are accompanied by the news that three new Zelda amiibos will be released soon.
Nintendo revealed that they will launch three versions of Link based on models from previous games, including: Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword.
On the official Nintendo site, all three figures are listed as compatible with the Nintendo Switch game: Zelda Breath of the Wild, as well as the Wii U version.
“This amiibo figure shows Link in a classic pose from the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game, where he joined forces with a mysterious creature named Midna to lift a shroud of twilight that had fallen across the land of Hyrule,” reads the description.
It's likely that they'll be used to unlock new outfits in Breath of the Wild.
Fans will also be hoping to see more Breath of the Wild updates, similar to version 1.1.2.
Despite vague patch notes from Nintendo, the recent update is believed to have improved the frame rate.
“Adjustments have been made to make for a more pleasant gaming experience,” a message from Nintendo explains.
Tests showed that the game is running smoother, although more work is needed to fix the particularly troublesome areas.

Zelda more than just a video game
Today I wanted to share with you an experience that for me at least was unforgettable...
Since we were kids my brother and I have always been great fans of the Video Games Saga "The Legend of Zelda", we followed the saga from the Nintendo 64 to the Wii, acquiring each one of its copies only weeks before it was released in Chile, always followed by days of confinement until completing it a 100%. We were always faithful fans of the saga, fanatics of the adventures that the game offered us. With its dungeons and puzzles to solve, epic fights and unpublished objects to obtain... but nothing would have been the same if it weren't for its great music, work of Kōji Kondō... From the arcade songs of GameBoy to the wonderful orchestras of Skyward Sword (game that by the way came with a soundtrack CD of the of the saga in celebration of its 25th anniversary)...
But before that, around the first decade of 2000, we found out that there was a Zelda orchestra! Our excitement was such that we imagined plans to travel alone for the purpose of listening to it... which at about 14 years old was not very realistic...
But it wasn't until a few years later, in 2012, that the orchestra began doing tours for countries like the United States and Canada. Later in 2013 for Australia, France, England, Australia and Mexico...
After these years, the videos that came out online were becoming more and more common and we were anxious to see the show live, but we didn't want to get our hopes up... the idea of thinking that the orchestra would perform in Chile seemed a little remote to us at that time...
But it happened...
In 2016 the news came... The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses was presented in Chile... our emotion was such that the same day of the sale we bought first row tickets with all our savings (haha), we didn't even have to think twice... and I must say that I have never regretted it.
The day of the performance was June 7, 2016 and we were heading to the Cariola Theater to witness this long-awaited event... I must say that the infrastructure of the place left a lot to be desired, but the truth is that we ignored that... once inside, we only had to wait. We saw the crowd arrive, some cosplaying characters from the saga and others with their portable consoles in hand, ready to start a game with the orchestra playing in the back!
After a few minutes of waiting, the lighting in the room began to dim, the curtain rose and little by little the music began to play, rising slowly, at the same time as a chill that ran through my whole body and stayed there... And I can swear that it didn't leave until the end of the session. The moment the first violin sounded my back was straight as an arrow and it stayed that way for an hour and a half... It was a moment of emotion that I have never felt again.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
This post is the written version of a podcast episode on YDWMY Reviews about my feelings on having completed The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the very first time. Listen instead of reading here.
I’ve been a fan of the Legend of Zelda series for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I spent countless hours exploring Hyrule in the NES Legend of Zelda with my older brother, and I remember playing through dungeons in Link’s Awakening DX by the light of passing street lights on a family road trip. When the N64 came around, I was all in on both Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. I loved Wind Waker on the Gamecube, and it’s weird offshoot/sequel Phantom Hourglass on the DS. Twilight Princess was great, and I even played through most of Skyward Sword. I’ve nearly played through Breath of the Wild three times! While I really liked A Link Between World’s on the 3DS, playing it illuminated one of my gaming blindspots… I’d never really gotten into A Link to the Past.
I feel like I was always aware that the Super Nintendo Zelda game existed but, for some reason, I had no attachment to it. My brother and I had a Super Nintendo when we were growing up, but I think we must never have picked up this game for it. The first time I can really remember playing it was when I bought it on the Wii Virtual Console, but I never really got hooked on it there.
With Nintendo Switch Online’s classic games library, I ended up going back and beating the original Legend of Zelda on the NES a few months ago (something I never thought I’d do), so I decided it was finally time to move on to playing my biggest miss in the Zelda franchise. I started up a save file on the GameBoy Advance version of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past on Twitch back in January, then moved over to playing the game both offline and on my Audio Only Let’s Play podcast, TroytlePower Presents: The Power Play-Throughs Podcast, with TroytlePower, all while cataloging my impressions as I went on the Your Day, Week, Month, Year Reviews podcast for the We Can Make This Work (Probably) network. I’m mentioning all the different ways I tried to make content out of this playthrough partially as shameless plugs, but also because I felt like I was accountable for finishing the game because of making my progress public.
Last week, on the morning of Valentine’s Day, I finally finished the game. Now, I know this will come as a shock, but it turns out it was actually pretty good.
There wasn’t really anything about the moment-to-moment gameplay that came as a surprise to me. Having played a fair amount of 2D Zelda games and all of the 3D Zelda games, I was pretty used to the basic loop of find a dungeon, go into the dungeon, beat up baddies, solve puzzles, find a new item, beat up a boss, and repeat. However, just because the gameplay loop didn’t surprise me doesn’t mean it wasn’t good. The combat in this game felt great (especially in comparison to the original NES game), and the puzzles and the dungeons were, on the whole, really satisfying and fun to play through. There were a few times I got stumped, but far less than in the NES game. I do think that the exploration in this game was a little dissatisfying, though, because while there is a big world full of lots of interesting secrets and stories, the game didn’t really push me to engage with them for the most part. At any time in A Link to the Past, you can look at the world map and see a marker showing you where the next dungeon was at, so it was really easy to run from one to the next without really engaging in the overworld much at all. I think I would have liked it if, instead of marking exactly where the dungeon was, I got a marker for where someone was who could guide me to the next dungeon. Even just that one interaction with an NPC between each level would have made the world feel more alive and engaging, and I think it would have made me more inclined to explore a bit as I went.
The story in this game was nothing to write home about, really. Ganon’s evil, he used the power of the Tri-Force to create a dark world, and eventually is going to take over the light world, unless you can unite the power of the sages… you know, maybe this story was something special before Ocarina of Time, but since I played through that game so many times before getting to this one it just feels comfortable… like it’s a standard Zelda story. I think those connections between The Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past were the most surprising things to me in this play-through. Both games have you completing three dungeons in one world before everything goes south and you have to go to a corrupted version of the same world in order to harness the power of the Sages against Ganon… It feels like these two games are far more reflective of each other than the rest of the games in the Zelda franchise, which is maybe why, while I had fun playing A Link to the Past, it didn’t really stand out with a, “Wow, what a crazy new experience” feeling even as much as playing through the original Zelda (which I liked a lot less) did.
I’m happy to say that I’ve played this game, and it was a lot of fun, but it doesn’t really feel like as much of a triumph as I thought it would. It was good, but familiar instead of distinct… like getting served a really good pepperoni pizza, but you were expecting something like a pesto base with sliced tomatoes.
I’m going to replay Ocarina of Time next, and then might move on to one of the 2D Zelda games I’m not as familiar with, either the Oracle games or Minish Cap, and I’m interested to see if they end up wowing me more than A Link to the Past did.

Top 5 favorite games
Alright so here is the second, part I’ve been spending a lot of time working on this whole thing so I hope you enjoy!
Number 5:The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap                                                Developer and Release year: Nintendo, 2004 Japan, 2005 NA                            What it can be played on: GBA/ Wii U Virtual Console
So I’m not gonna pretend like 4 of my top 5 picks aren’t Zelda games, that being said the Minish Cap is a game I played more recently, around last year, and at first after beating it I sort of just put it in my top 20, I loved it yeah, but I never really thought about it until now that, even though it was short, every thing about this game was solid and fun to me, the shrinking mechanic was challenging but very well done aesthetically, and the story was good, with the relationship between Link and Zelda, them being childhood friends and Link doing whatever it takes to have his friend back, and the villain Vaati was interesting in his relationship with the Minish (The inhabitants of the tiny world) and his final boss fight being very difficult for me, and the story wraps up nicely as usual, all in all it was a Zelda experience that I truly loved, and my favorite 2D Zelda game.
Favorite part(s): Definitely the Aesthetic and design of the tiny world, and all the charm around the entire game
Number 4:Sonic Adventure 2                                                                                  Developer and Release year: Sega, 2001                                                              What it can be played on: Dreamcast/Gamecube/PC/PS3/XB360
There it is, probably the most controversial pick on this entire list, unless maybe the next one is too i dont know, but I am a Sonic fan, which is something sort of rare these days, unless you like Mania which is pretty awesome but I’m more of a 3D guy, but this game is my favorite Sonic game because, even though the story is confusing I love it, it was dark and i legitimately felt like Dr.Robotnik was actually a major threat. There are 3 types of gameplay, the Classic Sonic/Shadow, The treasure hunting, and the robot/mech levels that make up the game, the best is the Classic gameplay of Sonic and Shadow, that usually isn’t up for debate, the other modes are pretty fun, but I love the game for the Sonic/Shadow levels, and the game to me really picks up on the Space Colony Ark in the Final Act. The *spoilers ahead* part where Shadow (who I forgot to mention is one of my favorite characters and not because I’m an edgy frick) turns to Sonic’s side and fights the Biolizard to buy them time, Shadow’s character arc was amazing in this game, and the final boss was really fun too, not to mention the soundtrack i mean, it’s a sonic game of course there’s a good soundtrack.
Favorite part(s): Shadow the Hedgehog, his levels, character arc, and general mystery surrounding the black and red anti-hero was amazing to me.
Number 3:The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword                                                  Developer and Release year: Nintendo, 2011                                                        What it can be played on: Wii/Wii U virtual console
I have defended this game in so many tweets and irl debates it’s incredible, Skyward Sword released to a 10/10 from IGN (that doesn’t matter to me much but it is an accolade) a 93 Metacritic score, which I do care about since it is an overall score and even got some Game of the Year awards in a year where Skyrim, Portal 2, Minecraft, Mario Galaxy 2, and many more were up for contention, but that proves nothing I just wanted to prove that I have argued about it enough that I know what I’m talking about. The main problem everyone has with this game is the motion controls, they say they are not accurate or don’t work, which can sometimes be true but, Scott Falco (he makes the “”with a side of salt series which he has some very good opinions on) says it the best, he said that he didn’t like it sitting down just waggling the wii remote, you’ve gotta stand up and play, then you fell immersed like YOU are the one doing it and not the wii remote, that is what i agree with and stand by anyway. Now past those criticisms I don’t think there are many more, some people don’t like the story, but to me this game has the BEST story in maybe any game I’ve ever played, the Link and Zelda relationship is better than any other game in my opinion and only Breath of the Wild comes close to that relationship in my opinion, now, the rest of the story is intriguing too, the origin of the master sword (I’m not going to comment on Fi, some people got too annoyed with her to focus on her amazing character arc in my opinion) the existence of Skyloft and the very first Link, Zelda, and Ganon in the form of Demise, all of it was done well and was very interesting to me. I liked the gameplay too, I think the new sprinting and stamina system was revolutionary to the series and made movement a lot more improved from previous entries in the franchise. The final act with the boss battle with Ghirahim and eventually Demise were very cinematic and awesome, and with Zelda’s life on the line during the whole thing it made it just that much more intense.
Favorite part(s): THE STORY, I can not say enough how much I love the story but also I loved the boss battles,  Demise,Ghirahim,The Ancient Automaton, and all of them were fun to me.
Number 2:The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild                                              Developer and Release year: Nintendo, 2017                                                        What it can be played on: Switch/Wii U
This game is a new staple in the Zelda series, the highest selling of all time, a new open world, a Game of the Year winner in almost all the awards shows, and even still people love to pick on this game a little bit, with all the weapon-breaking criticisms, and I know that can get annoying, but it does add a new layer of difficulty to an already difficult game, anyway Breath of the Wild was first known as Zelda for the Wii U, and it was revealed with a trailer at E3 2014 and was slated for release in 2015, of course it got pushed back and with Nintendo now finished with the switch they announced Breath of the Wild as a launch title, March 3rd, 2017 will always be one of my favorite days of all time, as I got my switch and had the first mainline Zelda game release as a fan of the series, and I did NOT stop playing it that night until about 1 AM (thats a rookie number now i mean c’mon I tweeted at 3 AM last night then went ahead and watched a movie) which was super late for me at the time though and I went to bed ecstatic about the game, I had gotten to a part where the story was starting to go forward and I couldn’t wait to finish it, about 6 or 7 days later I did and BOI let me tell ya I loved every second of that week, the gameplay is smooth and fun with combat being re-invented and then the Guardians were really fun because up until the end i didnt know about the shield thing so I would just bash them with all the brute force i had, the final boss fight was incredible (thats a common theme with my favorite Zelda games) and the Dark Beast Ganon fight was really atmospheric and entertaining as well and the ending with the re-uniting of Link and Zelda was so well done and just makes for a perfect ending.
Favorite Part(s): I loved the massive open world and all the secrets and new enemies and shrines to discover, it just made my time playing the game very enjoyable! Plus everything else like the story and the combat.
Number 1:The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker                                                Developer and Release year: Nintendo 2002 JP/2003/ 2013 HD                            What it can be played on: Gamecube/Wii U
The Wind Waker. My unwavering favorite game for who knows how long now, the first Zelda game I ever finished and my introduction to great single player games as a whole really. The Wind Waker released in December in Japan and followed up the next year World Wide, the art style of the cell-shaded characters had never been seen before in a Zelda game and people were skeptical about whether or not it would go down well. Well it released and the people of December in Japan and of March World wide were very pleased with the game and loved it for its gameplay, story, vast ocean and many islands to explore with many hours of gameplay to be put in discovering everything the game had to offer, as for me i wouldnt get to play it for a while longer considering i was VERY young at the time of its release, so I would get to play it when it re-released for the Wii U in 2013, about ten years after the release of the original, I didnt get it though until Christmas of 2015 (or 2014 Im not honestly sure) but it wasnt even my gift, as I’ve said before it was my brother’s and i just watched him play it for a bit and tried it myself after being intrigued, and I dont know if I stopped very much over the course of the time I played it, I was challenged by the puzzles, and from the very opening at Outset Island I loved the art style and loved the characters in the story, with the new unique take on Zelda as Tetra, having Link sailing instead of walking, heck even having Hyrule not even the setting (for most of the game anyway) was new to the series and as my first 3D Zelda game I was captivated by all of it, everything about my favorite franchise now was fresh and new and thats something I’ll never get to experience again which is probably why I remember and still play the Wind Waker which such a fondness today, because of how new everything was to me and how much I enjoyed all of it, not to mention the final boss fight (here we go again) was and is still my favorite, with the world being submerged around you and you and Zelda enclosed with no way out other than through Ganondorf, the games story as always (I hate how repetitive I am) ended very well and to this day it remains one of my favorite stories ever told, and I don’t know if anything will be able to top this game just because of the time in my life in which I got to experience it and with how solid the game as a whole is.
Favorite Part(s): The Wide-open sea and the islands are all so cool and creative, plus the Final boss fight still stands as my favorite to this day.
Thanks a TON for reading through all of this, I had started work on it some time last year and got super busy doing other things during all this time but it really means a ton to me that people would actually care enough to read what I write, or even just skim it,
                                                         Thanks -Ben :)
