'Olimar always crashes into the same planet haha he's such a bad pilot' is the 'Peach is just some damsel who never does anything' or 'Jonathan Harker is so oblivious' of the Pikmin fandom. 2 and 3 do not feature any crashes from Olimar.

He was stranded in 3 by his ship being destroyed on the surface by the Quaggled Mireclops. The final scene of the Olimar's Assignment mode has him expect a smooth return to Hocotate, which only makes sense if the Hocotate Ship hadn't been Mireclopsed yet. Meaning it was only destroyed, thus stranding him, after he was abducted by the Plasm Wraith and couldn't do anything about it.

Also Hey Pikmin, which does have him crash, is set on a different planet. And the cause of the crash is a malfunction in the warp drive putting Olimar right into an asteroid field, an unexpected machine error. Additionally you can't use it against Olimar in 4 unless you can explain how he goes from the S.S Dolphin II to the S.S Dolphin I again.

Pikmin 1's manual also states that the S.S Dolphin was on autopilot when the meteor collided with it, so his own piloting skills weren't even a factor there. The Guard Satellite is stated to be an automated defense mechanism, reliable enough to consistently fend off space pirates, so Olimar had reason to believe threats like the asteroid wouldn't strike before he could get to the pilot's seat.

In the grand total of the series Olimar has crashed on PNF 404 twice, and those times were in different continuities (you have to do absurd gymnastics to say 4 isn't a reboot), with one other crash into a different planet.

In 1 and Hey it was due to the failure of a ship feature that previously proved reliable. In 4 there are clear implications of a mysterious force making everyone crash like what caused the S.S Drake's crash in 3, and people don't say Alph is a shit engineer for the S.S Drake's one showing having it crash for reasons he can't even figure out.

You know what has actually caused Olimar to go back to PNF 404 repeatedly in the same continuity, the president of the Hocotate Freight Company. Both of his visits to the planet in both 2 and 3 are ordered and overseen by the Hocotate President. That's four of the five visits there in the original continuity, the crash is the odd one out actually.

One of Olimar's 4 treasure notes even mentions a special good pilot license he has that lets him skip the license renewal bureaucracy, which he mourns the inevitable loss of due to crashing on the planet, meaning it's his first time crashing in a long time at least, if not ever.

Their name is Mint and they live on PNF-404

I don’t know what the collective species that Hocotations, Koppai, etc fall under like humans do, but they’re inhuman* basically

I don’t know what to call them tbh. A shapeshifter maybe

Mint landed on PNF-404 years ago. Their species is designed to be great hunters, since they’re shapeshifters and whatnot. Maybe I’ll try to delve into the species or not I have no idea at the moment

In my opinion, Pikmin 4 takes place after Pikmin 3. Olimar just crashed and got stuck again for like the 4th time idk

Anyways. Koppai trio comes in and Mint is curious about them and starts mimicking them and filling them around. Koppai trio is equally curious because how tf is someone living there. Mint can’t communicate with them so yeah. She gets to know the crew + Louie and Olimar. Very much likes Louie because he’s weird and eats creatures too.

Mint travels back with them to Koppai since they think she’s a castaway, but they can’t find her on any databases which is just… puzzling. Even more, blood tests say that she’s not part of any known species. She becomes an oddity because of these things including her PNF-404 orgins, but the Koppai trio protect her and keep her safe.

She’s stays with them for the time being, they teach her english* (whatever they speak), and she slowly gets integrated into society. Alph even teaches her a thing or two about engineering. I don’t know how many years it would take for these things so idk how long yet. Probably speaks a broken english*.

Once she can communicate with others efficiently they still don’t know where she’s from because she doesn’t know either. She just woke up on PNF-404 and lived there until the Koppai trio’s mission. She’s learned to be more secretive about whatever her mystery species is because like… a shapeshifter is not a common sight to see or know about and Mint doesn’t like a lot of attention.

I want to give her a dog or something similar. I’m working on it

Idk. She gets recruited on a treasure trip to PNF-404 because it’s very known that she’s lived there and probably knows her way around things. Thing is, the people who hired her are shady as heck. She ends up not liking them and tends to avoid them and run off while exploring the planet

In the end something happens, could be the group is getting attacked or whatnot, but she gets left behind. She’s kinda sad but not helpless. After some time she gets her communicator working and messages the S.S. Drake to check in and ultimately chooses to stay on PNF-404 because she’s felt homesick

The communicator actually breaks a year or so in so she’s actually stuck, but she brushes it off because.. eh

Pikmin 4 appears ✨

Meets Olimar and Louie again and is happy. Helps them out. Olimar goes missing uh oh-

A lot of ships seem to be crashing lately and Mint doesn’t really know why, not looking into it much. This red leaf b-word also showed up and now everyone’s day is ruined

Enter Rescue Corps 👌

Mint kinda just stumbles into Collin, Shepherd, and Oatchi and decides to help out. They accept her help because who else is gonna go out in the danger planet? At first, Mint doesn’t stay during the night to which the crew worries because how could someone possibly be living out there? It’s dangerous?

Okay so this is an new Pikmin au I had in my head recently and it is supposed to be an alternative ending of Pikmin 3 after Olimar gets rescued from the plasm wraith the koppaites go home but except for one which is the captain of S.S drake and that is captain Charlie

So what really happened was Brittany purposely lied to him about the plasm wraith coming back to life to get Olimar and while not noticing the team and Olimar took off without him Alph did not know where Charlie was and got worried quickly when they were in space Olimar helps alph clam down and said that he’ll be found soon and Brittany said she agreed with Olimar (with a fake look on her face that others didn’t knew that she was responsible for Charlie missing)

Meanwhile with Charlie he was still waiting for his crew to come back with S.S drake but it turns out that they made home and Charlie did not knew that and was stuck on PNF-404 until someone finds him and returns him home

I just completed it, so I haven’t seen any other reviews for One Of Us Is Lying season two yet so I don’t know if this is controversial or not, but I enjoyed s2 more than s1. Mostly bc for as much as S1 was up my alley, I looked at it as a poor adaptation of the book, and I looked at S2 as a Pretty Little Liars reboot.

And a good one.

Like, it wants to be a pll reboot more than the actual pll reboot. And I enjoyed Original Sin, it was just missing a lot of the elements that made the OG what it was.

But like, halfway through the series I realized how badly it wanted to be pll, and honestly… I think it made me enjoy the series much more.

The show wants the characters to call the big bad ‘A’ so bad. ‘_ is totally Simon Says!’ ‘We’re not Simon Says!’ ‘We gotta find Simon Says’. And they kept calling it a ‘game’, and the villain spoke about how much they liked to ‘play with my toys’. And- And- And you know what? More power to them.

And Jake’s lines in that flashback in the finale. ‘Can you keep a secret?’ ‘You gotta take this one to the grave’. I realize that those aren’t unique phrases, but… c’mon…

And you wanna know the best part? This A/S.S. reveal was good. It was better than the Drakes. It was better than the Principal. It was a character with enough plot relevance. When it was revealed, there were things both the character and Simon Says did that clicked. The motivations weren’t contradictory. The main characters were the ones to put it all together. And enough build up to …other twists as well.

Look. As a writer, I hate that they betrayed the source material to do this. But as a Pretty Little Liars fan… I’ve found satisfaction.

My first time drawing the captains and crew members of the S.S. Drake, and they weren't as bad and was spot on, Brittany was a challenge to draw ^^;. Other than that, they are awesome! This was drawn last night ^^

My attempt at writing (Cpt. 1)

Alph woke up with a start. His eyes darted left and right as he took in his surroundings. “W-wait. Am I on PNF-404?” he murmured to himself, “Ugh. how far did I fall..?” He looked down at his hands. They seemed to be replaced by… Paws? It was at this moment he noticed something, or someone, standing above him, 

“Hey… you took a pretty bad crash..” they (Or rather, she) said. Alph responded with a nervous nod. “Name’s Fawn.” she said. Alph could feel his heart racing. “U-um, yes..” he answered, Stammering. Fawn nodded, “I see that you’ve noticed your ‘different’ body?” Alph let out a shaky breath. “Y-yeah.” “It was the only way to save you.” Fawn replied. Alph stood up and brushed the dust off his legs. “So… what exactly are you?” he asked. Fawn sighed. “I’m a wraith.” she said this a little hesitantly, Alph didn’t notice. “Huh, where have I heard that before?” he whispered to himself, before shaking his head. “I’m sorry. I didn’t introduce myself, did I? My name is Alph. formerly the engineer on the S.S Drake. Now the Engineer of the S.S Hydra.” he avoided eye contact with Fawn, he just couldn't look into her deep purple eyes… he shook his head again. “I-I’m sure you saw others fall as I did?” Fawn nodded. “I did the same with them.” she glanced at a female sheargrub before continuing her sentence. “Brittany and Captain Charlie. I believe?” Alph nodded. Answering her question. Then he walked around, studying the place where he had fallen, taking mental notes. Before turning to Fawn. “have you seen a medium sized ship anywhere near here?”

been in my head for a little while! drew this at work, sorry it's so messy/low quality! dialogue typed out below (and also revised a bit) sorry if it's hard to follow in my drawing, sorry for ooc too

this starts after the plasm wraith fight, and the koppaites invite the hocotatians on the drake so that they can go back to their planets

alph, teaching olimar how to start the s.s. drake: ...so then, you press this, then this... and you're done! it's not very different from hocotate ships i've studied

olimar: interesting! this is the first switch, correct?

alph, starting to walk away: correct! ....if you excuse me captain olimar, i'd like to check on my crewmates. if you'd like, you can start the s.s. drake once you are familiar with the controls! (after all, how many other chances will you have to start our drake?)

*jump to after checking on brittany and charlie

alph: *sigh* i might as well check on louie, wherever he is

*checks whole ship for louie

alph: (where could he be? i checked everywhere! could it be possible that he...) NEVER CAME ON THE DRAKE?

alph: (it'll be okay! i'll just make a quick trip off the drake and find him, then we will all go home!)

*alph goes onto the formidable oak surface, looking for louie

alph: louie! you need to come on the drake! LOUIE!

louie: *incoherent*

alph: louie?

louie (uneasy): it's not dead..

alph: what?

louie, pointing at the plasm wraith: the wraith... it's alive..

alph, grabbing louie's hand: louie. we need to GO.

*alph and louie run back to the drake, but olimar had started the ship, and it took off

alph: WHAT? no! no! we're still on the surface! no! they can't leave! are you kidding me?!

*they watch the drake leave the sky, alph absolutely snaps

alph, borderline tears: THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! what were you thinking by not boarding the drake?! so irritating, so irresponsible! you have always just caused trouble and look at us now! WE ARE TRAPPED HERE. i wish i would've left you here. alone. should've NEVER went to check up on you.

*louie stares, turns around and walks away

alph, crying: okay! bye! just leave!

The King of Bugs and the Keen Engineer: in which Louie and Alph get left behind after the events of Pikmin 3

OKK so i know its not completely original (since it basically is pikmin 2 debt ending, just with more), i have no idea if anyone has done this with just louie and alph? little parts of this concept have been in my head since jan 2021, with king of bugs louie and alph being like "the queen of bugs" (but that title doesn't make much sense for him). i'd really like to develop a relationship between alph/louie, like how they become comfortable with each other and how they start to become more than just "im stuck with some guy on a planet." but i think it would be very rocky, with louie's communication style and with alph's fear/emotions plus more. but i do want it to be alph x louie at some point, so i tagged it

to explain this a bit: louie was untied, but i don't think he ended up boarding the drake out of pure curiosity due to the plasm wraith (no one saw him board either, because of the excitement toward the cosmic drive key, no one was worried about louie too much). the wraith makes him uneasy, so he wanted to confirm it was gone, since he feels it could mess up their way back home if it was still alive. he does see it, alive, and it shocks him. meanwhile, alph is teaching olimar the basics about starting up a koppaite ship, specifically the drake. olimar is interested in alph's engineering viewpoint, while also being curious about koppai technology. alph happily explains how the ship works, and offers olimar if he wants to take it for a spin whenever he's ready. alph checks on brittany and charlie, who are in their respective areas (still cooling down after the plasm fight). alph figures he might as well check on louie also, after all, he doesn't think louie is too bad of a guy, he was probably just scared and that's what caused his actions. alph looks around for louie and can't find him, which leads him to the conclusion that he might have never entered the drake. alph freaks out, prepares to leave, but forgets to tell anyone that he's making a trip out, 1. he thinks he could make it in time before the ship takes off, and 2. he's too worried about louie to remember to notify. he leaves the drake and finds louie up the formidable oak (right before u drop down and find olimar laying). louie is scared of the plasm wraith and scared that it is alive still, and alph is shocked/scared as well and runs with him back down to the drake, but olimar had started the ship. (he probably in there like yeahh woo! did it alph! alph? ...alph?) they watch the drake take off, and alph starts to get extremely upset and angry, he can't believe the drake is taking off without them. he starts to blame louie for even being out there in the first place because alph is so scared and upset and says things he doesn't mean. louie gets yelled at by him and just walks away, in which alph is still pissed off (they both temporaily forget about the wraith). not drawn, but something i want to get to at some point is alph apologizing to louie (after he finds him again) about his outburst and from then on they stick together. annnnd a lot more

aaahh if anything doesn't make sense or if there's like a plothole or something just ask me about it, ill explain if i have an answer!

i do plan to make a bit more for this idea/concept (i think i posted some earlier, there's a king of bugs louie drawing "this is my planet, i am the king" that reminds me of this). if you want to make anything for my specific version of it ummm just tag me, or use the hashtag for it (the king of bugs and the keen engineer / tkobatke) used below? i think that will work yes? IF ANYONE HAS A BETTER ABBREVIATION let me know!!!!!

sorry for the long post!!! forgive me, and i will like, half promise on this looking better next time i draw it, this paper i use at work is hella small (literally as tall as a bic mechanical pencil) and im half hiding my drawing when i do it, so ill try a little bit better next time on the quality aspect. im also not good at comics sorry lol

why the fuck does the play nintendo website refer to Charlie as a "crack pilot".

like... piloting the S.S. Drake is Alph's job. Charlie's kinda just there. he's meant to be the leader of the expedition, but realistically he's kind of just... the mascot. like "yeah let's get this heroic guy that people love on board to make this expedition look more legitimate"
