Baroque & Draft Body Overlays
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHONKY NECKS! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
Before you ask, this also isn't a slider (we don't have those yet).
These can both be found in the horn section of CAP - I'd recommend @objuct's No Sparkles Mod (you'll see sparkles in CAP but not in-game).
Yes, this uses your horse's coat and any paint you've applied.
I've had to reshape Rembrandt Designs' braids to fit the baroque neck, but otherwise, these are compatible with like 95% of mane styles - thank you Jessica for letting me do this!
I've also added an extra black swatch to them, and I've done the same for my Multicolor Braids, v2 linked below.
I've not tried these in-game or with poses but I have a feeling they should be more or less okay! Please feel free to leave me some feedback. ♡
I've got a big project coming up, which I'll have some spoilers up for soonish (Patrons only).
Update: (31/01/2024) - v2s added. Do NOT have both the original files and the v2 files in your game at the same time. These versions will remove the original body underneath (AKA no more clipping!)
I will be discontinuing the support of these as I'm now working on a new body replacement which will have it's own baroque and draft overlays. Any seams or strangeness will remain.

SLIDERS THE TV SHOW!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
Hey there, fellow nostalgia seekers! Today, I want to take a trip down memory lane and talk about the incredible TV show that will forever hold a special place in our hearts: Sliders. Let's dive into the awesomeness that was this time-traveling adventure and how it continues to evoke waves of nostalgia among millennials.
Sliders, which aired from 1995 to 2000, followed the thrilling exploits of a group of four travelers as they "slid" between parallel dimensions, exploring alternate versions of Earth. Our beloved characters included Quinn Mallory, the brilliant but socially awkward genius; Wade Wells, the compassionate and resourceful artist; Rembrandt "Crying Man" Brown, the soulful musician; and Professor Maximillian Arturo, the witty and sarcastic mentor.
What made Sliders so captivating was the sheer excitement of witnessing our heroes leap into new dimensions each week. From post-apocalyptic worlds to worlds ruled by dinosaurs, the show never ceased to amaze us with its imaginative and diverse settings.
But Sliders wasn't just about the mind-bending alternate realities; it was the dynamic chemistry among the characters that truly made the show shine. We laughed at Rembrandt's one-liners, rooted for Quinn to find his way back home, admired Wade's determination, and chuckled at Arturo's snarky remarks. Their camaraderie and the way they supported one another in the face of constant danger were the heart and soul of the show.
As millennials, many of us grew up watching Sliders, and it's a show that remains etched in our memories. The excitement of tuning in each week, eagerly anticipating where the sliders would end up next, is a feeling we'll never forget. Sliders introduced us to mind-bending concepts, made us question the nature of reality, and sparked our imaginations with its endless possibilities.
It's worth mentioning that Sliders tackled various social and ethical issues through the lens of alternate realities. The show deftly explored themes of identity, inequality, and the consequences of small choices that shape our world. It made us think beyond our own reality and consider the implications of different paths taken in life.
Sliders may have concluded its run years ago, but its impact continues to resonate with millennials. Whenever we stumble upon an episode or hear the iconic theme music, it transports us back to a time of simpler pleasures, when we eagerly tuned in to see where our favorite characters would slide to next.
So, let's celebrate the timeless magic of Sliders, a show that shaped our love for sci-fi and taught us the importance of friendship and resilience. It will forever hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the power of imagination and the joy that comes from exploring the unknown.

Things I remember watching as a little kid that explain a lot about me:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988): Baby's First Film Noir, courtesy of my older brother but more likely thanks to our mother who loves noir and mysteries and crime dramas. The story itself has a hard boiled detective have to buddy-cop his way through to help clear the name of a cartoon rabbit actor while the Rabbit is hounded by the cartoon weasel secret police and the human judge who rules over Toontown.
Serial Experiments Lain (1998): An anime series where a young girl slowly delves deeper and deeper into the internet and... okay there is a lot going on and don't want to risk spoilers, but it's a mindscrew with lots of tech stuff going on. One part scifi, one part psychological horror, and with a nice big dose of ??????. How I was able to follow it when I was that age I still don't know but I blame Dad's love of time travel.
The Neverending Story (1984): It is a story about a young boy who finds a magical book that shows an adventure of the countless many that could take place within that world to the reader. The adventure he reads is about Atreyu going on a journey to save the world from the Nothing and asking various figures of renown for help.
Sliders (1995): The TV show starts off with the main character Mallory creating a near-magic super science device that will allow him to create portals to other worlds. He shows it off to his teacher, Arturo, and through shenanigans they and a local/famous musician named Rembrandt Brown are forced to randomly hop across alternate Earths to try and find their way back home.
The Great Mouse Detective (1986): As a love letter to various detective series but especially Sherlock Holmes, it shows a world where sapient mice in an otherwise normal human society are running around mirroring the humans. A little girl mouse's toymaker father is abducted by a strange bat, so she runs and manages to gain the help of Basil of Baker Street. She gets the help of Dawson (Mouse Watson) who much like the human just returned home from war on foreign soil and he winds up befriending the detective.
The Meaning of Life (1983): Could I have picked a better image for the Monty Python film? Yes. Why didn't I? Because this scene is the one lodged in my brain. The film itself is an anthology of assorted skits much like the troupe's tv show.
There's a lot more especially later but these are the immediate things I can think of. The only thing I specifically picked out myself was Lain. Everything else was either my parents, my uncle, or my older brother.

Apparently I write fan fiction now
Ok so I've had a really weird couple of weeks.
One night, I had a dream about a TV show I'd seen exactly one episode of in its entirety. A show that I literally haven't seen anyone talk about in forever.
That show? Sliders (1995)
Tumblr media
I woke up from that dream with the need to watch the show, so I did.
It's a mediocre show, really. Even at its best, it's hamfisted and full of plot holes, and the first season or two loves to idolise 1990s USA in a way that comes across as painful to my modern leftist sensibilities.
But despite that, I grew attached to the characters, and then I had to watch each one of them leave the show in increasingly infuriating ways.
By the end, I just wanted to give the characters a better ending. So that's what I'm now doing.
I'm not normally one to read or write fan fiction, so this is highly unusual for me and I have no idea if anyone will even care about this since the show is pretty obscure these days.
I just spent the past 4 days writing fan scripts of an imagined season 6 set in the present day. I've already churned out 3 scripts in that time and also made a rudimentary reader from html, css, and javascript to improve accessibility.
I ended up doing this because fanfiction.net doesn't allow scripts, and my new AO3 account is in some kind of queue until next month, so that's great.
Anyway, you can see the scripts on my website... take 'em or leave 'em. I had to get them out either way lol.
Hit the jump for descriptions of the 3 scripts I've done so far:
"Season 6 in the 2020s" Series
Conjoined Quinns, Part I
Episode 1 | 7464 Words
Over twenty years have passed since the events of Season 5. Mallory and Maggie are married with a child. But Mallory's not well - no matter how much sleep he gets, he is still always exhausted to the point of waking hallucination.
Meanwhile, in another world, a new sliding machine is being built by a familiar face.
Read Script
Conjoined Quinns, Part II
Episode 2 | 6652 Words
The gang attend a fateful concert. Mallory learns to adjust to his new arrangement. Cole really wants to scan some brains.
With old friends being reunited, it seems like things are all falling into place at once. But who could have expected who shows up next?
Read Script
Identical Quinns
Episode 3 | 6266 Words
Unexpected visitors create new hope for Quinn. Rembrandt goes out for a steak dinner with Diana. Cole gets to scan more brains.
The basement gets a visitor. Love rekindles. A ghostly apparition may hold answers to the mystery of the group's recent string of unlikely events.
Read Script
Future Scripts:
I've got several ideas for the continuation of this series. Here are some working titles which will give you a clue to the kind of story it will be:
Mandela Effect
Quarantine
Gender Police
Quinntuplets
Oops! All Quinns
Quinnpocalypse
Bear in mind that my ability to keep working on these scripts is directly related to my ability to receive dopamine from doing it, and that could change at literally any moment. Thanks ADHD!

Okay so here's what my absolutely bonkers Sliders X Quantum Leap crossover fic is up to:
Alternate universe hologram Sam Beckett sings "The Candyman Can" (From Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) to distract Kromaggs, while an alternate Maggie in her 50s who has leaped into a slave without eyes sneaks past them.
Meanwhile we cut to 7 years in the future where he is recounting this to a room filled with original Sam Beckett, Donna, Gooshie, Tina, Al, Sammy Jo, Verbena, Quinn, Rembrandt, original Maggie, Colin (whose personal history has dramatically altered), and finally... Alia.
I promise it all makes sense if you read the whole 108,000 words. 🫴👀

“Sliders” 57 (1998)
Tumblr media
This script by Bill Dial is one of the show's best and darkest. It's a very adult story where Rembrandt falls for a Kromagg collaborator (Valarie Pettiford) being hunted by MI5. It works because the lovers have great chemistry, and there are no trite explanations for what this woman did in the past. There's also no happy ending.
Quinn is MIA here due to injury, so Maggie and Remy carry the episode. Colin is mostly in the library, reading up on the history of this world.
Rembrandt tells his lady of many past adventures, recounting several previous episodes. He also talks about how jaded and directionless the travellers have become of late. Wade and the Professor are mentioned.
I've said many times that Season Four is the best season. Episodes like this are why.

youtube
this owns.
(i thought, "could i just look up the scene where Rembrandt protects a company's stocks via Poker game on youtube" and the answer is "no," because sliders isn't a show that's loved enough to catalogue its best moments online like that. but there's still a passion there, and it just comes out in stranger ways. i love that about it. (i'm so close to finishing the Big Round of Edits on The Book About It).)
