Not to harp on about the "would you tell your friend they could be a trans woman" poll more but another result of it we saw that I don't think has been mentioned as much is how bio essentialist ideals are really prominent in those transandrophobia/transmisandry/"everyone is affected by transmisogyny" groups. Trans women consistently got hit with "I wonder why afab people would be afraid to tell a cis man he's acting like a woman" from transmascs and it's like 1) it's declaring that men are inherently violent, a talking point you'd think these people who are so anti misandry wouldn't want to support 2) it's grouping cis women with transmascs and vice versa, the implication is trans women are violent "cis men" before coming out and 3) the hard push for that friend definitely being a cis man, as if that's how gender works. If that friend is someone you consider a friend and think might be a trans woman (again this is the premise of the poll, it's not random cis men in the wild) why are you pushing so hard they're a cis man. It feels like you're deciding their gender for them, not the people saying "hey transfems do this."

It's just very clear these groups have foundational terf talking points. All men (read: trans women) are inherently bad and inherently violent and you can never try to tell someone they can choose to get a woman.

I had to come here after seeing the hellfire that formed on 911twt.

I cannot believe that now that bucktommy has reached 1k fanfics on ao3 the BoBs felt like it was time to talk about henren.

Now?! Not when a big number of the henren fanfics weren't even about them but buddie? Not when buddie, a fanon ship, has accumulated (up to today!) over 20k fanfics? Now they wanna talk about henren?

It just feels like they want to use anything at this point to bring down that ship, to the point where they even scream about something that, oh surprise, they caused.

(I am aware that it's also a big issue in fandoms though, I'm not denying that the lack of henren fics isn't concerning to say the least, but this is not something that's only closed to 9-1-1, it's a grand scale problem)

What do you mean it's racist to ship and write bucktommy fanfiction? What about oh idk, the writers comparing a black foster child to a dog?!

I'm not black so I can't speak for any other black sapphic out there, but I can definitely say that it's so convenient how they remember that henren exists now that buck and tommy are becoming more prominent, but not when buck had just kissed a man oh no that's when the show suddenly became “the gay firefighter show", which completely omitted the actual queer relationships/characters that exist on the show.

I feel like my wording may not be the best so I apologize if anything came off weird, but it's 2am where I live and I'm writing this with everything I have.

Rambling about Raphael again: I’m getting more and more convinced that stealing from Raphael is an asshole move no matter what.

I just killed Raphael for the first time yesterday. I had gotten the scene where he comes home before but that was way back in my first playthrough and I chickened out back then. The battle itself was awesome, don’t get me wrong but it felt…unsatisfying? Sad even.

I’m obviously not excusing anything he’s done to Hope, but we don’t really know anything about Hope before we have already taken the decision to go to his house.

I found something in the House of Hope that I hadn’t seen before (it’s on the ground in the main area where the fireplace is iirc):

Like yeah, we know that we don’t really need the Orphic Hammer if we’ve played the game before and all that. But does Raphael? It seems like he genuinely thinks it’s a fair trade. Dude lives in the Hells. I’m sure he really does expect the worst from people (especially someone like the Emperor). So he offers us a deal that he really believes is fair, and what do we do? We go robbing his house, fucks/kills his incubus, meddles in his business and essentially spits him in the face. Bonus asshole points if the last thing you ever say to him is that he’s a shit at sex.

Raphael is evil, no doubt, but he hasn’t really done anything to us. If you don’t take the deal, he simply leaves you alone (unless you refuse the Emperor in the end…in which he essentially calls you a dumbass but still helps if I remember correctly) even though that deal is the closest he’s been to the crown in millennia.

Which brings me to his reaction. Obviously, he seems angry right before the fight, but mostly I got the feeling of a man who has been utterly humiliated. His quote that went along the lines of: “Take away their free will and they’ll call you a tyrant. Let them indulge in it and they become tyrants” is kind of stuck with me. I think that Raphael could have potentially treated us a lot worse if he wanted to, but he chose not to (obviously that’s also to get us to trust him, but still). Which is why it stings even more when we fuck him over.

Think about his diary entries. The man has nightmares about us besting him. Imagine how stupid he must feel when that fear turns out to be true and that he shouldn’t have trusted us to keep our word.

Time to remind everyone that Karlach was:

1. Performed a wicked surgery on where her actual heart was literally ripped off her chest

2. Was so badly burned at some point that her entire right arm, chest and torso’s skin has MELTED and scarred horrifically

3. Was tattooed against her will with the language of the place she was captive in, with THE NAME OF HER OWNER over her chest and her status as slave soldier

4. Has so many injures at so many points of healing, including her fucking horn torn off, that there’s basically no part of her left unblemished

idk who the hell decided that masks are no longer mandatory in health services (hospitals, drugstores etc). like i went to this public health service yesterday, and although there were free masks for the public to use, the staff WASN'T wearing masks. and the place was filled with ppl, many of them likely sick.

that is insane. only 1/4 of the whole room wore masks. and none of them were from the staff. i am not exaggerating.

A constant thing I run into with the "actually everyone is a victim of transmisogyny" crowd is this vague argument of "what if a tme person is confused for a trans woman" and I'm like. Well that's misgendering. Transphobia likely. Kinda depends the situation, but what exactly happened in the situation that makes it transmisogyny? "They think they're a trans woman" again, that's just misgendering. And it becomes this loop. They can never tell me what specifically in the interaction was transmisogyny. "I get mistaken as a trans woman all the time!" Ok but what are they saying? What are they doing? Misgendering alone isn't transmisogyny. Just being perceived as a trans woman in a scenario doesn't mean transmisogyny is happening. It doesn't overwrite who you are. I used to get mistaken as a trans man on this site pretty often back in the day, am I suddenly not a trans woman? Of course not. So why would such a thing change your interaction with transmisogyny? What are you claiming to experience?

You know what I hate about modern mice? how pointlessly anti-repair they are. I have had plenty of mice break over time, and often it's just that some fluff or skin-flakes got wedged in the mouse wheel or under the buttons. You just need to open them up and clean them. Except.. where are the screws?

OH THERE THEY ARE. under the little skid-pads, which cannot be put back on once you take them off, because the adhesive has been ruined! You have to buy replacement pads, if they're available, and maybe cut them down to size, as well as clean off the residue of the previous pads.

You know how this problem could be fixed? JUST DON'T PUT THE PADS ON TOP OF THE SCREWS!

Then you'd have no problem. Easy to disassemble and clean.

But then it'd look 5% uglier because apparently people are scared of seeing screws, and also people might not just throw it out and buy a new one!

It's the terrible sort of weird planned obsolescence that happens as an almost accidental side effect of improving the product. Like, ball mice? They were designed to be disassembled. You didn't even need a screwdriver! Because you had to clean them regularly, or they'd gunk up too fast. Modern optical mice? They still get gunked up, the buttons and wheel still die eventually. They can be cleaned and repaired. But now that it's not required for all of them to be cleaned regularly, that function has been removed. they're designed to be disposable.

The same thing happened with TVs way back when. If you open up a TV from the 50s (or just look at the back, honestly, many of them were designed to be always-open), you'll find a schematic showing where all the tubes are and what models they are. Was this because the 1950s was a golden era of reparability? NO! it's because they burnt out all the time and you had to replace them! As soon as TVs got reliable enough that replacing tubes was no longer needed, the schematics became hidden behind paywalls and for authorized-service-personnel-only.

It would be only a minor change in aesthetics to make your mouse repairable/cleanable. Hell, most of the time when it's not simply fixed by cleaning it, it's because one of these broke:

This is an Omron D2FC-F-7N microswitch, used in a bunch of mice. It's designed to last about a million clicks. With a soldering iron and some solder (like 25$ on amazon) you can trivially replace it. New switches cost between like 10 cents and 2 dollars, depending where you buy it and how many you want. A couple bucks of parts and half an hour's worth of work, you can repair a 40$ mouse that's "died".

But they make it unnecessarily hard with the slide-pads being unreplacable. You have to find ones that match, you have to carefully clean off the old residue with IPA, or the new ones you just bought will fall off. All to make it look SLIGHTLY better (how often are you looking at the aesthetics of the bottom of your mouse, exactly? (no furries are allowed to answer this question!)) and maybe, just maybe, to push it over into "not worth it". You could do all that, but you have to buy new switches, new slide-pads/mouse-feet (SHUT UP FURRIES), and can you remember where your solder even is? you last used it when you were trying to fix that keyboard...

Basically one thing that is maddening to anyone with the very basics of electronic knowledge (seriously: the amount of skill you need for this is the kind you can get in less than an hour from watching a youtube tutorial) that we're surrounded by all this electrical nonsense that will break and have to be thrown out, but is mostly breaking in ways that could be fixed in a very short amount of time with relatively little work.

It's infuriating to go on amazon to buy another damn mouse and it pop up "hey you last bought this in 2021, you fool" and you're like I KNOW, IT SHOULD STILL BE WORKING TODAY!

I have computer parts from the 80s in my room right now that are still working when stuff made in the last 5 years is already dying! There's no reason it should be this way. It's an endless waste of time and money and resources and it's just to make some logitech or whoever executives slightly richer.

It's deeply bullshit. The modern day is going to be identifiable as the geological layer where most of the trash was generated. We're living in the middle of the quisquiliarumferous period: the layer of garbage.

AROACE IS A SPECTRUM, NOT A BINARY

As someone who is on the AroAce spectrum myself, it’s beyond frustrating that people claim to advocate for AroAce rights and representation don’t understand this.

The Aromatic spectrum can mean someone isn’t interested in romance at all to someone(like me) who only wants a romantic relationship after developing a deep connection.

The Asexual spectrum can mean someone is repulsed by sex and sexual things, to someone who is okay with having sex and doing sexual things while having no sexual desires themselves.

I understand that some people are just misinformed but I’ve seen some genuine animosity floating around in the Hazbin Hotel fandom specifically.

Alastor is canonically AroAce, but we don’t know what points are of the spectrums he’s on. On top of that Vivzipop herself has stated she’s okay with people shipping Alastor with other characters

In addition to that, QPR(queer platonic relationships) exist.

Look I'm sorry but the USA is, like, the quintessential liberal (writ large, as in the hegemonic political tradition of the modern world) state. Insofar as fascism is a coherent alternative to liberalism, it is in large part defined against the United States.
