For the prompt, let's see... how about #7? I don't think you have done that one yet?
7. What inspired you to join the fashion?
A big thing that changed was my financial situation lol! I didn't even look at the fashion before since it felt like 'what's the point', then my friend leant me a couple volumes of princess Jellyfish and I liked the silhouette a lot! Seeing representation of a character that does ID as a man but enjoys fashion regardless was empowering, it wasn't done in a creepy or weird way it just was. (I haven't finished yet!)
Thanks for asking!

For the ask game, how about #7, and #14? ^_^
7. What inspired you to join the fashion?
Hm, well ever since I was a little girl I’ve always loved dressing up and I was obsessed with princesses. I think I’ve just carried that over throughout my life, even as I got older. I found out about lolita fashion when I was 13 and was just MINDBLOWN like, ur able to dress like this irl??? A year after I got my first coord and I’ve been pretty into it ever since (with some breaks in between)
14. What is something about previous eras of lolita fashion that you'd like to come back?
I really love the hair from peak sweet lolita era.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two are my favorite styles. I usually have my hair just down but I want to try doing my hair like this every once in awhile. My hair is naturally curly and when I keep it down I think it blends in nicely with whatever I’m wearing but twin buns and twin tails will always hold a very special place in my heart.
I haven’t seen many people wear twin tails in awhile, it’s a shame since I love them so much.

Hi. I'm glad I discovered Your blog. Is this maybe possible for You to recommend some safe egl blogs that are 100% free of misstagged content with the"old men" stuff or some other scary things? Because i just boil when I think wow a nice pastel blog and the boom untagged triggering stuff thank you for mentioning importance of not spam tagging unrelated content because it's the first time I see someone talk openly about this and it makes me happy because I'm terrified to look through" lolita themed "blogs recommended by Tumblr algorithm.
thank you!! i think it's crucial to talk about, and i appreciate that you see the importance. the EGL community struggles deeply with bad associations, assumptions, misinformation and all. drawing the line and keeping NSFW and other harmful content out not only serves to upkeep the image of the fashion itself, but protects people who genuinely take interest in it for its intended purpose.. and of course, those who actually wear it. i discovered lolita online at around 10 years old and fell down awful rabbit holes due to fetishizers and people who involve kink with a fashion that has nothing to do with sexualization. i do my absolute best to keep my blog clean for those reasons, it means a lot to me personally.
with that being said, i absolutely have recommendations for blogs with lolita content! i'm not sure what constitutes as scary, so i suggest you stick with what's comfortable for you specifically content-wise! but these are my personal favorite blogs that don't fetishize lolita.. in no particular order:
@porcelainerose @rainedragon @lovecraftian-lolita @mymlody @sakurateabunny @arbokzee @harajukugirls @sweetiemeringue @meowshmelo @doll-lashes @la-vie-en-roselilth @lilac-nites @ephemeral-lace @flufflekiss @lacentears @ringlets @missjenniferrose @20dollarlolita @angeecarlate @frillyfish @angelbabykittyprincess @deer-thing @egldreaming @frillgoblin @sallamb @marble-sodaa @melondiary @pretty-and-angelic @faeryndipity @journal-d-une-sucrerie @frillyfix @velverettt @heartfluttered @cadaverette @velveteenusakumya @fossette-promenade @inaloriel @didonette @balljointedlamb @beeftapa @dinololita @silverdawnarrow @maistress @seaprincess-selkie @softlittleheartsandsparkles @depressiondoll @meltysky @lolitaprints @heckyeahlolitafashion @sweet-dreamworld @allaboutthatlace (i think those last three are inactive, but fun to look through the archives still!)
so sorry for all the tags! if you wish to be removed from this list, feel free to let me know.. and sorry if i forgot anyone ^^
and just as a warning, seeing as you are looking to avoid this content: there's a blog with seemingly normal EGL coord photos that's being reblogged around lately, but it's unfortunately fetish content. if you'd like to block it's @/sutiblr

For the ask game, how about #4 & #10?
4 - What lolita staple do you love or consider completely necessary?
Maxicimam boleros! I have a bunch of them! They are true workhorses in my wardrobe. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are warm enough for SoCal winter and can be thrown in the washer/dryer no problem! I don't care if my coordinates look cookie cutter because of how much I wear them, they're the best.

10 - What is an underrated print/design motif?
This is kind of hard because I don't pay much attention to major brand prints, especially current ones. I am going to go out on a limb and say Phantom Night Merry-Go-Round from Enchantlic Enchantilly. Screen print version specifically. The concept of a merry-go-round coming to life at night is so interesting to me. It's so unique! Im obsessed and have 7 so far. The puffs of smoke by the horses coming alive, the movement of the flag at the top, the glitteriness of the printing, ah, I love it! Tsubaki Torii, who made the print, has beautiful art outside of the work she's done with brands as well.

It’s the baguette that really makes the whole outfit come together
from floured wigs to just slapping a whole baguette in there

Bodyline and Rape Culture in Lolita Fashion by rainedragon
“Before I go any farther, I want to say that this is simply an explorational piece and I am not calling attention to the people who used these memes, own these body pillows, made these videos, hosted or attended these panels in an attempt to condemn or shame them. Instead, I’d like to take an abstract look at the meme of “Mr. Yan” inside the lolita community. I encourage readers to draw their own conclusions and determine on their own how they feel about these things.
That said, let’s look into the history of the Meme of Mr. Yan. For starters, the first exposure the western lolita community really had to Mr. Yan was through cheesy images and videos used by the Bodyline site to promote sales. Most people who viewed these images and videos found them funny, and thought very little of it at the time. Though there were already mentions of him being a bit of a creep.“

Hey have you started your major brands plus size pieces master list yet? I’m very interested in the project and want to send stuff your way but I don’t want to overwhelm you if it had not started yet! If you need an idea about how to start it I recommend looking at Rainedragon’s brand washing directory for layout inspo. Love your account!
Hi! I have started and I would love help!!! Please dm me!! I want to gather as many people as possible and maybe make a Google sheet!!! I might start a private discord too so who knows

hi nuzzle!! do you have any tips on how to wash lolita :'O i want to wear my elizabeth op and my cherry berry bunny op but im scared of the dye potentially running for both since dry cleaning isnt really a thing where i'm from TT
hello!!
it differs from piece to piece, but most modern dresses will often have washing/care directions on the tags found on the inner seams!
if your piece doesn't have wash tags, or you're unsure if the print will bleed or not, it's always best to consult the various community compiled wash lists. there are a bunch, but the ones i use are the old livejournal one and rainedragon's. they cover washing specifics for a ton of dresses!
before anything, i would recommend to remove all of the detachable parts of the dress (any bows, extra adornments. anything that has a pin! and waist ties) and put them aside safely.
for dresses that are machine washable, i find it's best to turn them inside out and to put them into a delicates bag first. for dresses that bleed (i recommend washing them alone to avoid staining other items. especially bolder colors like reds) include a bunch of loose color catching sheets with the load on a delicate wash cycle with cold water.
hang drying will always be the safest (if there's elastic don't hang it by the straps! it'll weigh them down and deteriorate it) but the sun will fade prints and color so make sure it's not in direct sunlight.
while newer prints don't bleed much, older ones tend to.. so cherry berry bunny is one that may be a concern for you, depending on which colorway you have.

Sarara wears Metamorphose’s retro flower print skirt in pink
Example image via Pathie on LM
The photos of Sarara are from this post by @rainedragon (whom I credit my lolita research heart to) but the photos seem to be no longer on the lolita’s website. I think this is because Raine’s post was from before Geocities died and the wayback machine hasn’t archived everything that was once there.
