Textile Minister recommends PPP model to reenergise cottage emporium

Union Textile Minister Piyush Goyal inspected Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIC), a retail outlet under Central Cottage Industries Corporation, a PSU under the Ministry of Textiles. The MTA has many unused real estate assets, such as abandoned NYC subway stations. How much could they earn from leasing the space for an underground restaurant, bar, museum, or other public/private venue? Sound-proof glass barriers could be installed between the platform and tracks and it could be quite an interesting location for visitors, and also subway riders looking in at the space! Or if that's too complicated for the MTA to manage, bright advertisement screens could be installed on the walls (and maintained from the platforms without needing track access). Everybody wins! 📷Immer wieder erklären uns Politiker, dass es doch besser sei "die Wirtschaft" mit ins Boot zu holen und öffentliche Aufgaben an private Firmen zu vergeben. Das geschieht seit 40 Jahren immer wieder und leider immer häufiger bei

der Stromversorgung,

der Wasserversorgung,

dem öffentlichen Nahverkehr,

beim Straßen, insbesondere dem Autobahnbau,

beim Betrieb von Krankenhäusern und Altenheimen

sogar beim Betrieb von Schulen.

Dagegen gibt es Widerstand von den Betroffenen, deren Versorgung durch die Privatisierung schlechter und vor allem teurer geworden ist. In Berlin waren wir als Aktion Freiheit statt Angst vor einigen Jahren aktiv - und erfolgreich - gegen die Privatisierung der Berliner Wasserversorgung auf die Straße gegangen (Unterstützung des Berliner Wassertisch beim Volksentscheid ).

Inzwischen ist die Berliner Wasserversorgung wieder in öffentlicher Hand und sie ist entgegen alle Vorhersagen von CDU-Abgeordneten nicht teurer geworden, obwohl der "Rückkauf" dem privaten Vorbesitzer noch den goldenen Handschlag gereicht hat.

Auch das Stromnetz in Berlin befindet sich im "Rückkauf" von Vattenfall. In Hamburg ist dieser Schritt bereits erledigt und das Ergebnis lässt sich sehen, wie die taz berichtet.

Das städtische Unternehmen Stromnetz Hamburg (SNH) stellte kürzlich seine Kennzahlen vor und konnte zeigen, dass der Volksentscheid über den Rückkauf des Stromnetzes vom Energiekonzern Vattenfall 2013 richtig war. Neben der besseren Umweltbilanz konnten auch die Gelder erhöht werden, die nun in der Region verbleiben (600 Millionen Euro statt der 470 Millionen in 2017). Inklusive Steuern konnten voriges Jahr 204 Millionen Euro vom Unternehmen an die Stadt Hamburg abgeführt werden. Vor 4 Jahren lag dieser Wert noch bei knapp 127 Millionen.

Ähnliche Ergebnisse sollten auch für andere kommunalisierte Betriebe vorzuweisen sein. Das wäre wichtig, damit die Menschen einen Erfolg ihres Einsatzes sehen - am besten natürlich durch eine reale Einsparung bei ihren Ausgaben für diese notwendigen Dienstleistungen. Nicht immer geht es auch "nur" um den Geldbeutel. Bei der Privatisierung von Dienstleistungen um und in Schulen geht es auch entschidend um den Einfluss der Privatwirtschaft in diesen Bereichen (Lehrmittelauswahl, Verwendung von Microsoft Software statt Open Source, Werbung in Schulen, ...)
