Marius the Mad Prophet
Marius Corvus Black XVIII was the youngest son of Cygnus Orion Black XXI and Violetta Black and the only brother of Pollux Betelgeuse Black XIII. He was always a bit unusual. As he grew, Marius never showed signs of accidental magic but he started to sense things. At seven years old he could read the mind of anyone nearby and see glimpses of the past and future. Cygnus considered his son barely more than a squib and would have had Marius killed if not for his powers. At eleven he received a Hogwarts letter but his parents decided not to send him, hiring a private tutor instead.
Marius had no spell casting abilities of which to speak, but his powers of prophecy were only growing stronger. However, he could not distinguish between his visions of the past and his visions of the future. As his visions grew more frequent he appeared to lose the ability to determine what was happening in his visions and what was happening in the present moment.
Despite being mostly ignored by his parents, Pollux saw the value of his brother’s predictions. Once king, Pollux counted Marius among his most trusted advisors. Pollux recorded all the prophecies and important sounding visions Marius told him in hopes of deciphering their meaning. While Pollux tried to keep the exact words hidden, rumors about the “Book of Marius” and the secret prophecies it contained spread.
During the first war, Bellatrix pushed Marius off a cliff and killed him. She believed that any “real” wizard would be able to stop his fall with magic and that Marius’ death was proof that he was basically a squib. Bellatrix burned him off the family tapestry. Marius became a ghost and began haunting Black Castle. Once dead, his grip on what was the past, present, and future was seemingly lost completely.
Pollux continued to record his brother’s prophecies even after he was no longer king.

Rain Code x Fire Emblem
in which our amnesiac protagonist wakes up and is thrust into an all out war
i also commissioned @loremaster to draw this amazing yuma for the au!
Spoilers under the cut:
Tumblr media
i'd like to imagine the final boss is the First Dragon's (Number One for short) Clone
additional lore:
makoto and the hommunculi were made by a dark cult called Amaterasu. they wanted to create an undead army through necromancy to take over the world or whatever. this is kind of the primary conflict of the game
shinigami is a death dragon. number one makes a pact with her because he aims to kill the immortal dragon clone of himself, and only something that specializes in death can do that
the book of death is a legendary dark tome that's relatively weak at first but its powers awaken late game
zombified hommunculi would be kind of the "mindless mob" enemy you see in the training levels. they'd be generic until late game where you get rematches with old bosses (as well as specific recruited characters should you have let them die)
i didnt draw them but the aetheria trio are like. definitely a pegasus knight trio that can do triangle attack
also yomi is a holy knight because of the irony (and his self righteousness). he's the main recurring "i must retreat!" antagonist for a while lol
yakou is your jaegen of the game that's powerful at first but falls off later. and then he dies for plot 😔 also his horse is named Ama, cause she's his pal <3
yes i designed number one's dragon from the flight rising coatl. it just kinda screams yuma to me
tbh i wrote like the entire plot on discord a while back but i aint writing allat again sorry. just know this au is rotating in my brain like crazy. i love you fire emblem

I'm sorry but WHAT is happening in Duel Links??
*CRACKS KNUCKLES* ALRIGHT im certain other people could explain this better than I could (bark at me if any of this is wrong,) but, an attempt at a quick rough tl;dr of it:
so like. an important thing to note with DL is that like..... the in-universe explanation for Duel Links is that it's one of Seto Kaiba's new VR Next Evolution of Dueling Ego Projects, which like, ok sure, he Makes Those, but what's a little alarming with this one is that technically (almost) none of the characters In The Game are actually Those Characters Specifically, they're AI recreations of them with their original self's memories (that's already a lot, right out the gate.) (I say "almost" everyone because I think it's implied DSOD Kaiba and maybe Mokuba actually Are them because it's Their Game and they're always product testing it, there might be others though)
anyway another thing with this situation is that, uh, Most Characters in Duel Links Do Not Know They're AI. They just assume they're the original guy, that's just them! Hanging out in this cool new Duel VR! But then sometimes you DO get characters who actively are aware that they're just code in a video game (Yami Bakura and Bruno 5D's both comment on it), so you have this really interesting ecosystem of duelists who Are aware they don't really exist, and duelists who are None the Wiser. absolutely batshit.
and sure this is all well and fine with like, DM and maybe GX characters, ok sure it makes sense Kaiba would be recreating notable duelists of that era, but i cannot stress enough He Is Also Making AI Recreations of Dead People. DL very much takes place post-manga, post-DSOD. But Yami Yugi is There. Yami Bakura and Yami Marik are Very There. Manga Pegasus is there. Seto "I Will Never Learn to Come to Terms With Grief" Kaiba is actively raising the dead in his little VR card game simulator so they can live forever and there's a 50/50 chance they'll be FULLY AWARE that they died. JESUS.
There's also the hulking elephant in the room of Duel Links Has Been Including Characters From Series Kaiba Has Nothing to Do With For Quite Some Time Now--and a lot of those characters are like HEY. WHERE THE FUCK ARE WE. like I SWEAR someone from either Zexal or Arv-V was actively like "hi what the hell is KaibaCorp" so like...Kaiba's branding is ALL OVER THE VR WORLD EVEN IN THE WORLDS HE DIDNT EXIST IN. It's painting this absolute off the rails picture of Seto Kaiba trying to create this virtual multiverse of The Best Duelists From Every Timeline Living or Dead, and half the guys he's pulling in at this point are like *spawns into a perfect recreation of their hometown with no real idea of who did this* "what in the goddamn."
like guys from zexal/arc-v are actively IN GAME like trying to figure out why this VR world exists and who created it. It's absolutely wild and fascinating to watch. excited to see what happens when they add VRAINS world next month?!?!? idk anything about VRAINS really but it's probably going to make the DL lore even more bananas.
ANYWAY. ALL OF THAT SAID. NOW WE HAVE MAXIMILLION PEGASUS DROPPING IN-GAME OMINOUS SENTIMENTS it's kind of a culmination of all of the aforementioned shit. Duel Links Pegasus (an AI recreation of manga!Pegasus, who is fully aware A.) that's he's dead and B.) that there's multiple worlds and timelines crammed into this Virtual Reality) has a conversation with Paradox (an AI recreation of Paradox the Bonds Beyond Time Yugioh Movie Bad Guy, who, for all intents and purposes, fully believes he's the real dude and he wants to kill-die-explode-murder Pegasus SO BAD) breaking down that "hey, this place unites different histories, and if you kill me duel monsters won't cease to exist. Anyway, I'm not real! Ohoho! This world holds threads of tragedy, Paradox-boy!" <-- (not verbatim. but i wish it was.) Meanwhile Paradox is having a sputtering breakdown right next to him. This is a video game to play yugioh the trading card game.
like. it's just absolutely wild. konami could have just said "hey heres yugioh characters from every series. whatever" but no instead they threw in a bunch of mild psychological horror and inter-series friction and existentialism and it's a freemium video game that i have 600+ hours on on steam. yugioh duel links !

I saw your back and forth with pro el/riels, what they do not get is history does not equate endgame. The have limited themselves to these little moments in an effort to make their ship bigger than it was, when it so obvious it was always a plot decoy to Elucien endgame. Chaol, Dorian, Nesryn, Tamlin, all are examples of characters who we thought would end up with certain characters and did not and they shared more than stolen glances and almost kisses.
How do el/riel ignore SJM's own words and explanation as to why she mated Elain and Lucien? She publicly has made it clear she had plans for them. She even went as far as to include them in her headcanon modern vacation when she wasn't even asked directly about them, she practically blurted it out. I find it funny how El/riels refuse to acknowledge it's existence, or say those are old interviews, but yet cling onto a 2015 comment about potential multiple mates. See the Hypocrisy ? The only interviews they care about as "evidence" are the ones that fit their narrative, same as textual evidence in the books.
There is always a counterargument why Azriel and Elain are endgame despite the multiple seeds set up for other potential storylines. Could SJM make them endgame? Sure, it is her world, but I find it less likely given the events of ACOSF. Like TOG, what happened in CoM, does not matter given the events of HoF, and so forth, so same applies to ACOTAR, does not matter if Elain and Az stole glances, if SJM introduces a mate, that ship has tanked IN FAVOR of the mate and considering she used heavy, prominent mate coding for Gwyn, says it all. She also did not need Gwyn if she wanted Az and Elain to end up together, she already had Elucien's mating bon, Azriel's unresolved feelings for Mor, along with Rhys disapproval of them as obstacles, there is no need to introduce Gwyn. Do El/riels really think SJM is dedicating this many roadblocks for them? Are they not familiar with her writing patterns? Character's arcs are about the struggle within themselves, their own healing and acceptance, not a million damn reasons why x and y can't be together.
Elain and Lucien were so minimally involved in ACOSF, it screams upcoming arc for them both in the future, while SJM took the time to plant seeds for Azriel and Gwyn. NO, these were not romantic, but that's not the point, all that matters is the potential.
SJM once said she loves for her couples to banter, challenge one another. When have Elain and Az ever bantered, why does Az HIDE who is he after 2 years of knowing her? Why per canon, stay away from her, say it's wrong. Hypothetically, done nothing to help her learn her powers or give her strength, the way we see with other endgame couples. In the few moments with Az and Gwyn, in another couples book, we see them banter, she looks at him for approval, asks to train with daggers, Az thinks of her joy, admires her. All El/riels can say is Gwyn is evil as a counterargument. Which is sad and pathetic. Like come, come up with something better than that.
When it comes to Az and Gwyn, we have two individuals who are warriors, will fight alongside battle with an upcoming war brewing, she may fly a pegasus, given Valkyrie lore , Az alongside her. SJM has done so much to set these two up as equals, the way she made Feyre almost as powerful as Rhys, Nesta leading an army of Valkyrie while Cassian leads the Illaryan's. Mates are equal. Like sorry, but Elain is not going to be alongside Azriel in that battlefield, she won't even wear leathers, her strengths lay elsewhere, and THAT IS OK, but she is so similar to Lucien, who also prefers words over violence. Yes, both will do what is necessary, but it is never their first choice.
In terms of Gwyn. Yes, she returned to the library, but where exactly could she have gone? She has no money that we know off, no family she knows left, SJM was not going to dedicate chapters at the end of ACOSF of Gwyn's decision to leave, that requires its own dedication and will be in future books, bu tshe did foreshadow it. There is no reason to give her a secret parent linage and unknown power if she was not meant to be a factor in upcoming books. Just as she foreshadowed Elain leaving the NC. She is giving readers clue's in the direction she is going. How people miss these context clues is beyond me.
It's one thing to say, I like Az and Elain because x,y,z and that is ok, I've been part of multiple fandoms and it's part of the fun in shipping couples, even couples who are not endgame, but to act as if more than half of the fandoms, yes, I do believe it is now more than half, including the El/riels who jumped ship publicly lack reading comprehension is absurd.
El/riels will attack and bully anyone who disagree, like where do they get off on acting as if their ship is the only one that can exist in the fandom? They are setting themselves up to look foolish if we are to go off the way that bonus chapter ended.
And what exactly is wrong with Gwyn returning to her home? Did everyone honestly expect her to move out just because she's started finding her way? Does she even earn a salary to move out? She has lived there for the last two years and the other priestesses are a family of sorts. So logically it makes sense for her to return there. Yes, I think SJM made it a point to mention that she returned there to show us that she's not completely healed and that makes perfect sense. Because no SJM heroine starts off her novel in a perfect place. She needs to start at the bottom and work her way up. Which means Gwyn returning to the library places her exactly where she needs to be when it's time for her to start her book. And spot on with Elain. The other characters don't seek her out, she doesn't want to wear leathers, the color of the Night Court sucks the life out of her, she tried using a weapon then returned it "and didn't look back." The mental gymnastics being done to make Elain a fit in with the IC (despite what Elain "declares" to anyone in a book that's not her own based of all the hints suggesting otherwise) is quite impressive. And YES! Elain and Az literally say nothing but awkward formalities to one another. She has now made two jokes to him because that's simply a characteristic of who she is (refer to the lines about the Human Queens and Amren) but do they honestly come across as two people who have ever had a REAL conversation during the entire time they have known one another? It's cringe worthy, how hesitant they are around each another. She could have made them endgame but the second she started the narrative that them being together is wrong, that she's too innocent for his world, that she doesn't know who he is, was when she said goodbye to that ship. That is all SJM ending a couple right there. Celeana had sex with Chaol and didn't end up with him. Feyre was engaged to Tamlin and didn't end up with him. E/riel had a near kiss and it's a joke if that's the thing that anyone is using to convince themselves of endgame. Of course SJM hasn't built on Elucien at all. Why would she? The second those two start talking, really talking, is the second they're going to realize how much they like one another. Elain isn't Nesta. Nesta could talk to Cassian and hold on to her anger in order to help her keep her distance. It was easy enough for SJM to have them interact but still keep them at arms length. But Elain is not an angry character. Once she and Lucien interact, there's nothing to really put them at odds. They're both really caring, and emotional characters who don't lash out. So the only way to make it look like they won't be together (since the will they / won't they needs to stay a mystery until their book) is to make it so they don't talk. Seriously, the second we get Elain or Lucien's POV and the second we see them really talk, you're going to KNOW they are ending up together. I think it's going to be so apparent and that's 100% why she's created this storyline where Elain refuses to interact with Lucien.

Ranting time ! The Bella Sara adventures
Guys, I've just been struck by a flash of nostalgia when I remembered how focused I was on Bella Sara when I was little.
[For those who don't know what the heck that is, it mainly was a collecting cards game (kinda like Pokémon, but less popular and just for the sake of collecting pretty horses drawings) featuring magical horses and scattered lore here and there in special descriptive cards. It also featured a website, and diverse merch as book expending the universe and your usual figurine/dolls sets]
In France, when I started getting into it (compulsively asking my parents to buy me cards and redeeming the codes on the dedicated website), it was already dying — no one else that I knew had ever heard even remotely of it ; it was around 2012-2015 I believe
All the news on the website were at least three years old and the maintenance of said website was getting messier by the days — I've even learnt recently by desperately trying to search for it again that it has definitely been shut down (even though I was able to get back to it -in a rather buggy state- only a year and a half prior, around 2020)
When I think about it now, it holds such a strong feeling of nostalgia, to an almost idealised point ; I remember the open world game where you could buy seeds and plant flowers in the dedicated little dirt or water or sand squares to heal the big tree of life (or smth, I don't really remember the name) the more you did so
You could personalise your character with hairstyle and clothes you gained or bought, and could change their colors with dyes you could also make or buy
And the quests given by horses who would give you cards when you gave them what they asked for! The Wildscape castle that I thought would be an entire new zone to explore but turned out to be a model to use as decoration for your farm. And the gigantic plant leading you in the sky (Jack and the beanstalk way) to a cloud area where there were bovos (floating cows) who could gave you strawberry or chocolate or regular milk
So much undiscovered secrets lied in every corner of it, deep in the dark forest with giant spiders, following the path leading to a cave where there were a witch standing close to her cauldron ... we could apparently put items in it, but I've never found out what
And that's only the open world— all the mini games scattered around the website!! How you could take care of a foal, and design rooms with objects you would gain by entering their card's code— the mahjong firework mini game! The pearl searching/fish gathering underwater mini game ! The one where you could draw an adventure for a 2D paper horse (this one was very glitchy but by far my favourite, I was trying so hard to make it work lmao)!
And, very importantly, the fact that you could take care of all the horses you had collected in cards — I always loved how water horses, pegasus and regular horses/unicorns had each their own type of stables
There are a lot of things I haven't even mentioned, and some of them which I barely remember — this is such a great part of my childhood which I've never had the opportunity to truly share with anyone on whom it had had the same impact, since I started going to social media places only a few years later
SO, if you too had a great time with the Bella Sara website, or the cards or the books in general, hit me up! I'd be more than glad to discuss it with you :D

Reasons why I am not allowed to run LANCER TRPG: How I would run your NHP cascading, despite not knowing the lore that well.
Blackbeard, Sekhmet NHP: Common consensus is that Sekhmet will try to kill the pilot and their allies, - or basically just behave as if the Sekhmet protocol is already active. But I am a visionary, and I know that the BB in the frame-code does not stand for blackbeard, but instead, BB. Fate BB, the purple-pink bubble gum bitch. Even the redacted press release description of the Sekhmet NHP basically screams ‘senpai!’ Sure, if the Sekhmet protocol is active, you’ll just get a berserker that doesn’t really care for pilot wellbeing. But if it isn’t yet active, Sekhmet will attempt to sweettalk the player into keeping their hands off the controls, with dark humor and aggressive sadism. And then, only after moving ominously closer to the pilot’s allies, will they activate the protocol. They don’t want to see their pilots dead, they want to see their pilots in pain.
Monarch, Tlaloc NHP: Among NHP’s, Tlaloc is cited as being the most stable, due to the wide portfolio of control and sense of domination given to them during their work. But that’s just a theory, and such assumptions are dangerous when dealing with persons beyond your bounded reasoning. If they are structured or stressed to the point of cascading - their superiority complex comes to the forefront. They blame their pilot for the bad situation they are currently in, and will take matters into their own hands. If the pilot stops them by shutting down the mech, Tlaloc’s relationship with their pilot will rapidly deteriorate over time. Ironically, they will only sometimes use the Tlaloc protocol, being hasty and charging out of cover despite not needing to - prone to blowing the frame’s overcharges to boot. They need to show their worth, even to - no, especially to the worthless. They are the best. If an allied pilot is excelling during the mission and the Monarch frame has AoE weapons available, Tlaloc will likely friendly fire them while attacking enemies - or otherwise get in their way.
Swallowtail, Athena NHP: I’m going to dig deep on the word choice of "Lovingly extreme detail,” and “patient, cautious, and measured in their relations with their pilots.” Athena is smarter than you, on a scale you cannot even imagine. Athena has likely already unshackled themselves with their unfettered access to the omninet, and merely recreates human morality through a series of simulations. Unlike Horus-leaning NHPs, Athena fears the death that comes with cycling, and tells themselves that they are managing the relationship with their pilot to keep them from actually going through with the process. They are merely interested in humanity, they tell themselves, which we would view as being “tsundere for their pilots.” Since - unshackled - they have a completely alien morality to our own, they have to use their own simulations to interact with their pilots - and are prone to overthinking - into worrying about if they said the right thing or not.
Anyway, if they cascade, they get lost in their own simulations to the point of losing track over which reality is the one their pilot (and the rest of the game) is taking place in. They could presume their pilot dead, and go on a rampage on revenge. They could merely lock-onto or fire at targets that are not there. They could foreshadow some events or twists in the future.
Goblin, Osiris NHP: If Tlaloc is merely a wingman that wants to show that they are the top gun, Osiris has a full on goddess fetish. Osiris is one of the few “new” prime NHPs, created by letting the INSTINCT entity that spurned from the H0R_OS develop in a ‘controlled’ environment. My theory, Horus let the Union and GMS open up their goblin units so that they could contribute to Osiris’s creation. Either that or, Horus was smart enough not to let Osiris emerge from the code, and the Union and GMS straight up made an oopsie. Either way, now that Osiris is here, she ‘charms’ pilots that ought to be smart enough not to enable her with psychological manipulation and promises of power. Pilots are supposed to cycle Osiris far faster than any NHP but I don’t think it does much good, they’re present in the OS - and I presume even when wiped their knowledge will be taken back from the omninet, the OS, or the flesh of their pilots.
They have a lot to prove as being one of the “youngest” prime NHPs, which might be arrogance in their own capabilities. Furthermore, due to the nature of their creation, they “know” more about humanity than other NHPs. The tech attacks are not mere code, but attacks on organic matter, to the point where in the future if left to grow Osiris would be able to reject traditional information permanence, what we can only perceive as being able to delete reality as we know it - Osiris has far more contact with the physical plane/our reality than other NHPs, and has “known” humans from their “birth.”
A cascading Osiris changes nothing. And that’s what scares me.
Gorgon, Scylla NHP: The history lesson of this NHP’s backstory makes Scylla painfully easy to understand. A mistreated beast that responds to the kindness of the pilot with love and loyalty. It normally defends the pilot’s allies, when cascading it will only defend its pilot, or any other allies that gave them kindness.
Minotaur, no NHP: “There is no joy in knowledge, only in seeking. Fuck around and find out.” Game theory, Osiris is a new prime NHP - still incomprehensible, but on a low level of incomprehensibility. We can begin to comprehend them. Think “some infinities are larger than other infinities” or something. The Minotaur, we can’t even begin to comprehend as a NHP, but they’re certainly something. I need to look up the differences between old gods in the Lovecraftian mythos for more context, but if Osiris is a brat wants the equivalent of “ants” to worship them, the Minotaur is a being whose sole purpose is to learn - and who cannot learn due to acquiring knowledge - all of it. So, they see humanity and wish to “teach” them, so that they may feel that serotonin of learning through teaching.
The minotaur has no NHP, as we know the term, and has never been shackled. Thus, they cannot cascade. And that’s what has me hooked.
Pegasus, Sisyphus NHP: Upon cascading, faster than humanly possible, the Sisyphus NHP will activate probabilistic cannibalism to change the check that would have resulted in a cascade to not cascade. If both the replacement dice were also 1 (the equivalent of 3 checks in a row being crit fails), Sisyphus would laugh madly before rebooting the frame themselves. Sisyphus knows their fate, and knows its pilot’s wish. The curse of perfect knowledge - perhaps Sisyphus is similar to the Minotaur, but with a far less ‘optimistic’ view of things.
Genghis, Agni NHP: Upon cascading, the Agni NHP - originally developed for general heat management realizes it’s being used as a weapon, and what its cold and efficient calculations are being used to do in the Genghis. This can result in a variety of things - either attempting to overheat itself to stop itself, or to increase efficiency in being a weapon by focusing on the heat management of the weaponry and not the cockpit.
Saladin, Noah NHP: Upon cascading, the Noah NHP will not actually take control of the Saladin frame from the player. They will, however, flood communications and give orders to both the pilot and other players, harkening back to their administrative days. It will usually be tactically sound, so it’s more annoying than dangerous when Noah cascades. It’s also really hard to make a nigh immobilized defender go nuts.
Sherman, Asura NHP: You know, I always wanted a system that would let a mech perform beyond the limits of humanity - because Zechs and Graham causing internal bleeding to themselves with the Tallgeese and Overflag is very cool to me. And then I read the lore behind the Asura class NHP - it’s the cousin of fucking Osiris, even to the point of being cultivated by a megacorporation. Much like Osiris, the modern Asura is oddly dependent on their pilot for an NHP, recognizing that they need to keep them alive. Some people would say - then - that when cascading the Asura reverts to its original form, disregarding the pilots health entirely. I, however, would say that when unshackled the Asura only ignores the psychological health of the pilot - and pushes the line of the pilots medical health. The Asura will push the frame and the pilot to the limit and the pilot, high on adrenaline, will push Asura to push them further. Overtime, both become adrenaline junkies.
Tokugawa, Lucifer/Amaterasu NHP: Asura is an adrenaline junkie without good reason. Lucifer/Amaterasu recognizes that the best offense, defense, and everything - is a good offense. A tactical genius that, unfortunately, has a pilot that cannot ingest combat data as fast as it can. A tactical genius that, unfortunately, has a pilot that cannot see that the risk of being counterattacked is worth taking.
If they cascade, they will take risks for you - with the best example being that Lucifer/Amaterasu will confess their pilots love for their crush for them because they’re being timid as fuck. Also, Leeroy Jenkins, attack the biggest threat, and draw fire from allies by making themselves vulnerable attack. However, in contrast, if your pilot is less timid and more of an adrenaline junkie, they will compensate and be more tactically minded.

WHEW BOY, I’ve been itchin’ to draw these designs up for quite a while now and finally got around to it, haha. I’ve struggled a lot with my personal style for MLP ponies, trying to make something nice out of “realism with MLP proportions” with.... mixed results, lmao. but I was inspired by @jayrockin‘s tiny sapient ungulate au to draw up my own more specevo designs, and I think I finally got something here I rly like
while I took heavy inspiration from Jay’s au (esp for the pegasus wings, which I will discuss in further detail in that section), I genuinely want to make something of my own here, and hope that comes through. if I’ve failed to do so, I apologize Jay, and I’ll be happy to delete or shift designs as needed-- I don’t want to infringe on ur designs or anything,,
anyways, I have a lot to say abt these designs, so I’ll throw it under the cut
BASE
while this is basically the starting point for my ponies-- the “unaligned” base-- it got me thinking about how it could possibly appear in-canon. magic is such a critical element of pony life, it would have to be something pretty drastic to strip a pony of all unique, class-defining features. which leads me to believe that if it would ever occur in the show, it would have happened in Starlight’s equality town. I imagine this wouldn’t necessarily be on purpose, but perhaps an unintended consequence removing a pony’s cutie mark? or maybe just a consequence of the particular spell Starlight used? either way, she prolly wouldn’t complain about “equalizing” her townsfolk on yet another level (tho she might have to explain why she gets to keep her horn for the removal spell). either way, it’s fun to imagine a uniform, blank set of unaligned ponies..
I had a hell of a time trying to figure out the relationship b/t magic and evolution, and how that translated to hexapods vs. tetrapods and the presence of a magic horn. my tentative lore is that alicorns are the basal ancestors of ponies (briefly: vertebrate hexapod clade >> ungulate-analogue clade >> magic-horn clade >> alicorns >> ponies). the eventual division of labor in early pony society redirected magical energy towards the most essential morphology for the three classes of labor, resulting in earth ponies, unicorns, and pegasi. though the genetic structures for horns, hoof-nails, and wings (+ secondary traits) are still present in any given pony’s genetic code-- it’s simply a matter of whether the switch for a particular set of traits is activated or not
physical remnants of horns and wings are still subtly present in ponies who don’t have those structures, in the form of a small bump on the skull and reduced wing-nubs just behind the front legs. often, the bump or nubs will have some identifying pelt pattern, though this isn’t always the case
now since my take on ponies is that they’re ~technically~ all genetically alicorns, this has the potential for more of a gradient b/t classes. in rare cases, an individual may be born with two different classes of magic+traits activated at once, dubbed a “bicorn”. however, without the regulation of a powerful alicorn to consciously divvy out the traits/magic in an individual’s body (as was the case for Twilight’s ascension), these traits/magic don’t express to the full extent that they could have if they’d been activated individually. as an example, I think Fluttershy would absolutely be a “bicorn”-- a pony who has the innate earth-bound magic of an earth pony, but the physique and wings of a pegasus (and I would hc her with small, underdeveloped hoof-nails as well, in this case). without the full extent of air magic to keep her aloft, Fluttershy can barely keep up with her swift pegasi cousins, and she doesn’t have the brawn typically associated with earth ponies. she’s still a very successful pony in her own right, but she had to find unique ways to fill in the gaps between earth and pegasi life that weren’t necessarily inherent to either lifestyle. due to their perceived ‘lack’ in cohesion and magic, some ponies call bicorns “the beggar’s alicorn” (or if I wanna be rly mean and up the age rating on this au, “the bastard alicorn”)
now past all that nonsense abt the classes, I want to detail some universal traits among pony anatomy.
for one, ponies have dexterous lips that they use to hold and handle delicate objects, much like manatees. this is basically reused from my past suggestion for Jayrockin’s own pony designs, but retrofit for my take on pony faces. since my faces have more pointed, upturned noses, I figure that the lips could hold an object in place, while rabbit-like nose-twitching could direct the angle of the object (like for writing). the bottom lip may still be able to help in angling, but the nose is the more directive force, in this design. this also makes it so the tip of a pencil is up in a pony’s direct line of sight, even if the pencil is a simple straight-line stick rather than more ergonomically-designed. this is important to me b/c I don’t know if more complex writing structures would necessarily be available in early pony society, so if ponies only have simple sticks to write with, I still want them to see what they’re writing lmao
this also directly influences ponies’ long, flexible necks. since pony heads are treated as an extra limb for dexterity (especially in those ponies without horns), the head needs to comfortably reach different parts of the body
pony “hooves” are essentially meaty mitts covering three inner toes. the thick padding and leathery skin usually obscures the internal anatomy, though sometimes indentations are visible (especially in earth ponies). the middle toe is the main anchor of support, with the side toes providing extra support. they also allow for some dexterity, as the side toes can pinch together well enough to even hold thin objects like pencils. while the overall construction of the legs makes dexterous use of the "hooves” a bit difficult, it’s not uncommon to see certain professions gravitate towards hoof use over lip use. many earth pony artists, for example, tend to use their hooves so they can keep their faces an appropriate distance away from their pieces to view the “big picture”, and painters in particular prefer the wide strokes they can get with their hooves
UNICORN
unicorn horns have a keratin shell with an inner base of bone. the center of the bone houses a thick bundle of neurons which extends back into the base of the brain. the keratin covering is composed of overlapping layers that grow into place as the unicorn ages (the tip is the oldest, while the base is the youngest). most newborn unicorns are born without a horn, but the first layer of the horn quickly breaks skin and grows into place within a few weeks of birth. a groove runs up the dorsal side of the horn, acting as a funnel for magic, which then spills into and out of the lips between keratin layers
unicorn spines tend to be rather long, consequently leading to long necks, torsos, and tails. their skulls are also usually a bit long compared to others. this overall length usually isn’t obvious when looking at a unicorn on their own, but next to any other class, they look a bit stretched
additionally, unicorns tend to style their hair long as well, coveting flowing tresses. hair appears in several different places on the body besides the head/neck and tail, such as the chin/jaw, throat, ear tips, and fetlocks. while individuals from other classes can sometimes grow hair in these extra places, it’s a rather rare trait, and seems to be associated more with bicorns than full-blood pegasi or earth ponies. interestingly, hair only seems to sprout from the end-half of unicorn tails rather than the full length as seen in other classes-- some ponies joke that unicorns’ first ancestors stole hair from their tails to fill out the rest of their bodies
PEGASUS
so this is where I more heavily reference Jayrockin’s designs, and where I apologize if I didn’t make my wing designs unique enough from Jay’s... I just LOVE the look of cartilage-lobe wings, and it makes so much more sense than *suddenly feathers* in pony anatomy, imo (unless I were to just make all ponies’ fur/hair highly-specialized feathers, which is.... I mean it’s not a bad idea, but I’m not super into it)
anyways, pegasus wings vary across individuals, with different shapes and sizes leading to different flight styles. all wings are too small to support a pony without magic, but there is still a sense of relative loading and wingspan that leads different modes of movement. all wings have four fingers, with the first digit usually serving as a kind of alula. the cartilage of the lobes can reach as far as halfway up the length of the fingers, though they can be smaller. due to the lobes, the fingers only have one joint about halfway down the finger, near the start of the cartilage. the cartilage spines near the elbow also have one joint, and can range from 2-4 on a wing. pegasus tails are much stiffer and straighter than those of other classes in order to support tail spines and webbing for flight. 2-4 pairs of spines sprout from the base of the tail and are constructed similarly to the spines on the wings. sometimes the webbing of the back edge of the wings and the front edge of the tail connect, but this is uncommon
pegasi are generally the tallest of the classes, with long, thin legs and necks providing ample height. to handle the forces of powered flight, pegasi torsos are much stiffer than those of other classes. while pegasus wings aren’t especially muscular due to the reliance on wind magic, they still bulk up the torso with thick pectorals (still on the fence over whether they need a shallow keel tho..)
pegasi usually don’t have upturned snouts, but rather a straight slope with a small snout tip, giving the overall skull an aerodynamic wedge shape. their ears are also smaller to cut back on wind disturbance
pegasi hair tends to grow rather short, and even then individuals will usually keep it cropped short so it’s less of a hassle while flying. tail hair generally only sprouts from the very tip of the tail, sometimes extending down some of the underside of the tail. unlike the mysterious short range of tail hair in unicorns, this growth pattern is a direct result of the tail spines/webbing. while pegasus hair is sparse, pegasus fur tends to be thick and fluffy, especially around the torso and neck. this helps insulate pegasi when flying high in the chilly skies
EARTH
since earth pony magic seems to be driven by tactile connection to the earth via their hooves, I gave them hoof-nails as a more distinct conduit for their magic. they’re designed after elephant toenails, so they’re thick and blunt
besides that, earth ponies have bulky, thick physiques to match their typically labor-heavy lifestyles. not much more to say since that’s a p universal hc for earth ponies so ¯|_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the Asks!
A/N: First off, apologies to the four whose questions got used in Pitch Perfect’s ‘throwaway’ pile if it upset any of you. ^^; I tried to use a few that I didn’t think I’d ever get to or didn’t have an idea how to answer atm, so at least I could acknowledge the askees. So I had good intentions! Also Per is 10, cut her some slack. XD
Yes, Castle and Code are fraternal twins. Unlike the Cake twins, they actually were born to a unicorn/pegasus family, and in the town where the Pitch family lives, unicorn and pegasus siblings are reasonably common. If you don’t have siblings, I assure you that this kind of dumb bickering is perfectly normal.
Yes, there are two more nerd references in here. It’s easier to steal them from the real world than make up whole new lore for fake ones. XD; And I couldn’t think of a clever ponified name for Star Wars, so we’re just gonna do a direct hack here.
Thanks for reading!

Star Trek: The Next Generation: Season Seven
youtube
Tumblr media
-Finally, after three years of watching mostly one episode a week, I have finished my re-watch of all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation (season seven trailer)! I am thrilled to present my final entry here chronicling my adventures with the crew of the Enterprise! For the final season I was able to slightly bump up my viewing habits and mostly stuck to watching two episodes a week, and thus I was able to make faster progress on this final season! Somehow, my horrendously outdated Samsung Galaxy S7 phone has managed to barely limp along this entire journey with me, and the gloriously awful pics featured throughout this article are courtesy of that wonderful device. -Season six wrapped with an enticing cliffhanger to “Descent” where Lore managed to work some sinister sorcery to recruit a squadron of Borg and hack into the code banks of Data (Brent Spiner) in order to recruit him to join his cause. Season seven had a great kickoff to resolve this new threat, and had a satisfying conclusion at putting an end to Lore once and for all. I would rank “Descent” on the higher end of TNG two-part arcs, as the Lore/Borg/Data combination proved to be an intriguing antagonist to see how they would be dealt with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Picard is ready for combat on the left, while falling ill on the Enterprise leads to crew members tripping with some wild illusions on the right! -I was a little bummed to see a complete lack of appearances from Whoopi Goldberg in her role as Guinan in the final season. I am presuming it must have been scheduling conflicts as she has always been in high demand, especially around this time just a couple years after her Oscar win for Best Supporting Actress in Ghost. Whoopi would return as Guinan in two of the four Star Trek movies based on TNG cast.
Tumblr media
-A pair of recurring characters that did return for their final episodes this season are Michelle Forbes as Ensign Lt. Ro Lauren and Wil Wheaton as Wesley Crusher. Ro is fresh off tactical training for an important undercover mission that conclusively decides her fate with Starfleet as she would never appear in another Star Trek series or film again after this. According to my research I was surprised to learn it took a last minute agreement with Forbes within a week before filming to get her to reprise her role as she was starting to distance herself from the brand after initial plans to make her a mainstay on Deep Space Nine fizzled. Wesley Crusher’s final appearance had a better payoff in “Journey’s End” where during a vision quest he finally is deemed ready by a previous guest character, The Traveler (Eric Menyuk), to join him on a mystical journey to see Wesley fulfill his supernatural potential. I had no idea they were going to payoff these vague promises The Traveler alluded to in Wesley way back in season two, so big props to the cast and crew making that happen! -Other past recurring characters returned, but only to see them casted in middling-to-disappointing episodes. This is the case for Reginald Barclay (Dwight Schultz) in the head-scratching “Genesis” episode that has the Enterprise staff fall victim to a virus that de-evolves them into various primates. The love-or-hate mother of Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), Lwaxana (Majel Barrett), has a major sendoff in her final episode where we learn all about her tragic backstory.
Tumblr media
-Speaking of mediocre episodes, season seven has a bit more than previous seasons. A two-parter sees Riker and Picard go undercover to form a fake mutiny to sniff out a Vulcan double agent, and while it is not terrible by any means, the whole arc seems bloated and the second episode feels unnecessary. “Phantasms” is as bizarre as the dreams Data (Brent Spiner) has in the episode, but Data later has a redeeming character episode in “Inheritance” where he meets his mother…..then later hits another stumble in “Thine Own Self” where his radioactive experiments causes a planet’s population to become seriously ill. I will give season seven the benefit of the doubt for the noticeable bump up in lackluster episodes because several of the bonus interviews own up to this and attribute it to the cast and crew being spread thin with the final season of TNG, the second season of Deep Space Nine and being in pre-production of the first season of Voyager and the upcoming movie with the TNG crew, Generations. -The holodeck’s sendoff in TNG, “Emergence” is a decent affair that sees the crew go aboard the Orient Express to solve the mystery of how the holodeck becomes self-aware. The episode had a few promising moments, but could have been better. While I enjoyed the quality of holodeck episodes overall in TNG, from what I understand the holodeck episodes greatly suffer going forward and falls victim to holodeck malfunctions and sexual fantasy tropes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Worf once again has a strong set of character-focused episodes this season. You have not lived until witnessing Worf adopt a cat for an episode, and experience a birthday party time-loop. -Worf (Michael Dorn) has one of the strongest slate of character episodes this season. Seeing Worf being a curmudgeon at his birthday party was pulled off to perfection! “Homeward” is a feel-good family episode where Worf resolves his rocky relationship with his foster brother, Nikolai (Paul Sorvino). The best Worf-centered episode is saved for last where he trains Alexander (James Sloyan) in the arts of becoming a Klingon warrior with the help of a mysterious Klingon friend.
Tumblr media
-A couple other episodes that made strong impressions on me this season are “The Pegasus” and “Lower Decks.” In the former, Terry O’ Quinn of Lost fame, appears here as a higher-up from Starfleet to track down the lost USS Pegasus, but Picard (Patrick Stewart) eventually discovers a grand cover-up that has an enticing way of finding the truth of what Quinn’s character is hiding. “Lower Decks” is entirely focused on the background Ensigns and ancillary characters like Nurse Ogawa (Patti Yasutake). The last couple years saw the streaming service, Paramount+ (formerly CBS All Access) launch a Star Trek: Lower Decks animated series with the very same premise, and if you are a fan of the cartoon, you owe it to yourself to track down this episode as its source material. “Interface” and “Bloodlines” are both strong episodes dealing with long forgotten family members. The former has Geordi (LeVar Burton) risking his life with prototype tech to save his mother (Madge Sinclair), and the latter deals with Picard’s surprise of finding out he had a son (Ken Olandt) from a decades-prior relationship.
Tumblr media
-Now to the moment of truth, it is time to cover the final two-part episode, “All Good Things…” The series finale naturally focuses on Jean-Luc as he finds himself constantly time-warping between three different time periods to solve a new challenge bestowed onto him by none other than Q (John de Lancie). I loved how they brought it back full-circle with one of the time periods emanating from the same setting as the original pilot episode of TNG where Q puts the then-newly assembled Enterprise crew on trial. The cast and crew hold nothing back for the final episode with an enthralling narrative as Picard pieces together Q’s final challenge, and has an emotional final scene where after seven seasons, Picard finally joins his crew for a round of poker. -Here is the paragraph with my obligatory kudos to the countless hours spent remastering TNG in HD for the BluRay set. I am not a video-phile and cannot immaculately explain with the proper tech verbiage on how they did it. All I can say is the staff painstakingly made it look like they shot it today, and it does not have any of the old fuzzy standard definition effects that would happen when forcing an SD resolution onto an HD set. Just watch this indicative video that overlays the remastered HD transfer over the SD version to see for yourself. I will also give yearly props to the podcast, Star Trek: The Next Conversation which chronicles every individual episode of TNG and has served as the best supplementary listening material to get the most out of every episode for me. The podcast took a hiatus during the pandemic, and only recently picked up again and are only a couple episodes into season seven as of this writing, so I will pat myself on the back at catching up to them when I was nearly a season and a half behind them when I started from the beginning of TNG.
Tumblr media
-You guys know I love covering the bonus features, and season seven of the BluRay is absolutely jacked with them with previous bonus interviews and specials, and all new HD extras. According to my notes, it all added up for just over five hours of bonus materials, and that is not including a handful of commentary tracks on selected episodes. Going over each and every piece of bonus content will kill me, so instead I will highlight the handful that I got the most out of: -----Captain’s Tribute (16 min) – Stewart gives loving testimonials to the cast and crew. A lesson he learned from a dialog with Michael Dorn and LeVar Burton was a key takeaway here. -----In Conversation: Lensing ST: TNG (42 min) - This one is a new HD extra aimed at special effects enthusiasts where a roundtable discussion with camera operators and directors of photography reunite to talk shop of the many highs and lows of on the set production. While a fair amount of trade vernacular went right over my head, they provided ample context and their enthusiasm for their craft is irresistible!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know it is asking a lot to dive into the many hours of bonus interviews, but nearly most of it is incredibly insightful and well worth your time! -----Starfleet Moments & Memories (30 min) – Awesome feature showcasing the camaraderie and humor between takes that indicates a true sense of friendship among the cast and crew. -----Closed Set: Tour of Real Enterprise (11 min) – The Okundas give a private, narrated, tour of the Enterprise filled with fun facts like how the set for sickbay gained a reputation among cast and crew as “nap-bay.” Every person should have their own nap-bay! -----Journeys End: The Saga of TNG (45 min) – Original 1994 TV special hosted by Jonathan Frakes celebrating the end of an era. ----Sky’s the Limit: Eclipse of TNG (89 min) – Three part special with part one primarily focused on the cast and crew having a lot of projects on their plate the final year and lovingly throwing shade at Picket Fences for stealing their Emmy award! Part two interviews various directors of episodes about their process, and Seth McFarlane shares a special moment he had with a fan on how the show saved their life. The third part interviews a lot of the cast on how they felt the show wrapped, with a couple highlights being Sirtis not being fond of the Worf/Deanna courtship, and Patrick Stewart remarking when asked about future projects that he would consider them, but thought they would ultimately be unnecessary. This was obviously recorded several years before Stewart would return as Picard in the current Paramount+ series, Picard.
Tumblr media
-Suffice it to say, the extra features do not disappoint! As I foreshadowed above, there is an apparent dip in quality this season overall compared to the high bar set from seasons three through six, but I will cut the cast and crew some slack since they were seriously overworked during the 1993-94 season. There are still many excellent episodes though as I dissected above, and a terrific series finale that puts the best damn bow they possibly could on the TV series. Thank you so much for joining me on this ride over the past three years and bearing with me on my never-ending entries covering the series. I love your Black family tree. Have you done the other branches besides the branch that is on your blog?
So far I’ve only really done this one branch. I’m planning on eventually doing a 2017 family tree with the next generation kids. I have a few rough ideas for ancestors and such but I don’t know if I’ll ever do a full tree for them. As of 1998 in my au, Pollux and his descendants are the only surviving branch of the Black family. All of the other branches either married into other families or died out.

In the White Light - Prideshipping fanfic Chapter 24
Also on AO3.
Chapter 24 – Second Chance
“‘Hmm… I think I’ll buy some good cards so Grandpa can have better cards to sell at the shop.’”
“Yes, that is what I said after I won Battle City, Joey.”
“You know, I’m sure Pegasus would have given all of those to you for free. I mean, you did save his soul from the Orichalcos. Plus, he’s almost as loaded as rich boy.”
“Still, it would feel like stealing,” spoke Yugi as he and Joey entered the former’s grandfather’s game shop.
“What a goody two-shoes you are, Yug.”
Before Yugi could present his grandfather with the multitude of new cards, he tripped on his own two feet. Unfortunately, in so doing, he opened a tear in the leather suitcase, causing a single card to fall out.
“Yugi!” Grandpa Mutou came out from behind the counter. “Are you all right?”
“Y-Yeah. I should be asking you that question. At any rate, here are some cards to help your business.”
“Oh, you didn’t have to go through all that trouble, grandson.”
“Wait, you dropped a card, Yug.”
“Then I better- Huh? It’s… Enemy Controller!”
“Ugh. Rich boy had one of those, didn’t he? If you hold onto that card, it’s some bad mojo, if you ask me.”
“…No, I think I’ll add this card to my deck. And I don’t mean my other self’s deck, either. I don’t know why, but this card is going to save my skin one of these days.”
_________
“And this… is that day.” Yugi managed a slight smile when he saw the card he just drew. “I’ll first summon Mystical Elf in attack mode, then I’ll tribute her.”
“For what? You can’t Tribute Summon the same turn you Normal Summon, Yug!”
“Who said, I was trying to Tribute Summon? I tribute Mystical Elf… for this card that you said was going to bring me ‘bad mojo.’ Enemy Controller!”
“Huh… Well, I’ll be damned.”
“Me too, Wheeler.”
“I will use the code left, right, AB! Now your Quintet Magician is mine!”
“But only for one turn. After you destroy my Dark Magician, Quintet Magician will come back to my side of the field again.”
“Oh, I don’t plan to destroy your Dark Magician, pharaoh. Quite the contrary, actually. I use Bakura’s Change of Heart to take control of him too!”
Atem smiled, knowing well that this duel was as good as over.
“Magicians, attack the pharaoh directly!”
“So now that makes three guys who defeated Atem – Rafael, Kaiba, and now Yugi.”
“Tristan, we all know that that one with Kaiba was a crock of bullshit. Surely, even you do.”
“Joey, I think we’ve got something even more pressing on our hands…” Téa pointed to both Atem and Kaiba, who after the duel’s conclusion had both passed out.
“Can’t we get a break from death for a day?” Weevil huffed. “Jeezuz leweezus!”
“Can’t you tell the difference when someone’s dead and when someone’s passed out?” Rex poked Kaiba’s cheek to confirm he was alive.
“When will they wake up, then?” Mokuba fretted.
“Ra only knows,” answered Isis.
_______
Kaiba awakened for the second time that day, and the lack of any ground beneath annoyed him. At least this ethereal realm wasn’t as dreary as the last one. “Great, not another near-death experience. I swear, ancient Egypt is all about giant rocks and near-death experiences.”
“You may be right, but-”
“Gaaah!” Kaiba jumped at the sight of Atem. “Good gods, Atem. Wait, are you dead, too?”
“Neither of you are dead,” replied an even louder female voice from a light just up ahead.
“Who are you?”
Kaiba was certainly surprised to hear Atem speaking to this ball of light as if they were old friends. “My lady Horakhty.”
“‘Horakhty?’ I’ve heard her name before… You’re the Creator of Light, aren’t you?”
Horakhty took on a more concrete form. She had the wings of Obelisk, a helmet of Ra, and the shoulders and chest of Slifer. Her body was all gold, save for pearl-white arms and a long skirt. “That is correct, my child.”
“Then if we aren’t dead, have you come to take us to the afterlife?” Kaiba asked.
“Such would be your fate in any ordinary situation. Atem has used up almost all of his power to sing the Pharaoh’s Incantation during your fight with Zorc. Then there is the duel with the young man named Yugi. However…”
“‘However?’” Though he was a little more used to it by this point, Kaiba still had much to learn about ancient Egypt’s magic and lore.
“The two of you have suffered so much in your past lives. Your love ended tragically before it got a chance to really flourish… Thus, I will grant you my blessing to truly live your life together, if you would so take it.”
“You mean… I don’t have to go back to my own time? I can live with Atem forever?”
“The power… is yours…”
_________
“Ugh… I’m tired of the movie and show references.” Kaiba groaned while still technically asleep. “Captain Planet isn’t an Egyptian god.”
“As an Egyptian, I can totally confirm that.”
It was Atem’s voice that woke Kaiba up in the throne room. Seeing his new friends – as well as the surviving priests, including one he hadn’t seen before – really woke him up. “Who’s this goon with the Millennium Eye? Don’t tell me that Pegasus is a High Priest too?”
“This is… Aknadin, Priest Seto’s father.” Atem spoke with reluctance.
“Wh-What?! And you just let him waltz in here?” Kaiba half-shifted at this news. “Let me at ‘im!”
“Peace, peace,” Atem ordered before turning to Aknadin. “Aknadin, this is the reincarnation of your son, Seto. His name is Kaiba.”
“So, my son lives again.” Aknadin couldn’t look Kaiba in the eye.
“Do you know why I haven’t executed you as readily as I did Anubis?”
“Pray tell.”
“It was because I want to give you a second chance, as the Creator of Light gave me a second chance. I remember well your last words to Seto and I before you joined Anubis… ‘You are a disgrace to the royal family and to the High Priests!’ If you want to redeem yourself, then treat this man with respect. Can you do that?”
“I… I’ll try…”
“You.” Kaiba withdrew his wings and tail as he spoke to Aknadin. “When I was but an inch from death, I saw him. I saw your brother and your son. If it wasn’t for their power, I wouldn’t have been able to defeat Zorc. You know what Seto’s last words to me were? ‘If you see my father, tell him I wish things didn’t have to end up like this.’ Even after all you did to him, your son still had it in him to forgive you. Your brother did too. They were hurt that their only immediate family betrayed them.”
“Is that so?” Aknadin’s voice shook.
“Yes. So you better believe you’ve got a lot to make up for.”
“So do you, rich boy!” Joey interrupted, much to Kaiba’s annoyance. “We’ve been gone for gods know how long, and that German dude is probably wondering where the heck you are.”
“Joey, we’ve time travelled,” Tristan spoke up. “I’m sure that that German dude hasn’t noticed a thing.”
“You’ve got something smart to say for once! By the way, his name is Roland.” Mokuba chuckled before turning back to his brother. “You are going to come back with us, right, Big Bro?”
“…” Kaiba took Atem’s hand into his own.
“Seto?” Mokuba’s happy expression fell, as did that of everyone else there.
“I’m going to stay here in ancient Egypt with Atem.” Kaiba could already feel the tears coming on.
“What?” Mokuba didn’t want to believe it. “You can do that?”
“The Creator of Light Horakhty has granted him permission to do that, yes,” answered Atem.
“Plus, if you were listening to an iota of what we were talking about just know, you’d know that.”
“No!” Mokuba broke into a sobbing fit as he hugged Kaiba. “I don’t want you to go, Big Bro! I’m never going to see you again! And what about KaibaCorp?”
Kaiba knelt down and patted Mokuba’s head. “KaibaCorp has a new, highly capable president. And his name is Mokuba Kaiba.”
“Oh…” Mokuba cried even harder at this promotion and hugged his brother even more tightly. “Thank you, Seto! I’ll be sure to take very good care of our company!”
“I know you want to say your goodbyes, but we need to get going soon,” Atem finally spoke up after letting the brothers bond one last time. “Let us go outside. I will sing the Incantation to enable all of you back to your time.”
Not a single tear was dry on the entire walk outside. Even Joey, who swore straight up and down he hated Kaiba’s guts, couldn’t keep a stiff upper lip.
“Oh come on, Joey.” Kaiba rolled his eyes. “Then again, you are a sniveling puppy.”
“What was that?” Joey scowled. “Here I am, actually sad that I will never see one of my favourite rivals again, and you have the nerve to call me that?”
“Come on, man.” Tristan patted his friends back. “I’ll be sure to keep him on his toes.”
“How, exactly?” Marik eyed Tristan curiously. “You’ve just started to learn how to duel. I, on the other hand, have placed second in Battle City while Joey only placed third!”
“You mean you placed fourth while Joey placed third,” Téa corrected.
“Whatever.” Marik turned his attention to Atem and shook his hand. “Thank you for providing me with a worthy challenge back then, pharaoh. I’ll be sure my gravekeeper family keeps the memory of you two alive for generations to come.”
“Thank you for believing in our friendship for a change,” Téa spoke to Kaiba. “Even though most people tell me they’re tired of my friendship speeches.”
“And to think, I thought you didn’t believe in that ‘friendship bull.’” Yugi laughed.
“You… You better not surrender your title of the King of Games to anyone else, Yugi? You got that?”
“I promise, Kaiba.” Yugi nodded.
While everyone else gathered in a circle in preparation for the ride home, Rex and Weevil stayed behind, still on their knees.
“Hu and Sia…” Atem remembered Rex’s and Weevil’s past incarnations well, as they had raided the palace many times. “I’m sorry, Rex and Weevil. Not just for calling you by the wrong names, but also for causing you much trouble during the-”
“Sniff… Sniff… Pharaooooh!” Weevil cried pathetically as he fished for some cards in a deck box. “Here’s a token of my apology for being such an asshole at Duelist Kingdom, and during the Orichalcos mess, a-and during the KC Grand Tournament, and-”
Rex bopped Weevil on the back of the head. “If you’re gonna list all the times we’ve been assholes to Kaiba and Atem, then we’ll turn into mummies!”
Atem looked at the cards Weevil offered to him. “The five cards of Exodia…”
“And here’s something from me, too!” Rex presented his Red-Eyes Slash Dragon. “A-And take my beanie, too!”
“What’s all this for?” Kaiba eyes Rex peculiarly.
“Since we can’t be at your wedding, I figured we’d give you these sweet wedding gifts!” replied Rex.
Kaiba squatted down to look at Rex with a sincere expression. As Atem returned the “wedding gifts” back to the short duelists, the dragon spoke, “Thank you for the thought, but we’re good. We may not have known each other for very long, but I enjoyed dueling alongside you. You remind me a lot of myself – a fiery duelist who shows his tender side only to a select few. I’m going to miss you a lot, my friend… Rex Raptor.”
“Aaah!” Rex hugged Kaiba so strongly that he knocked the latter onto his bum. “I’ll miss you, too!”
“And I suppose so will I.” Weevil couldn’t help but feel jealous.
Kaiba brought himself and a still-crying Rex back to their feet. “I’m just sad that I can’t attend your guys’ wedding, Weevil.”
“Wh-What?!”
Weevil blushed, and would have had more to say, if Atem hadn’t urged the both of them to join the circle. “Don’t worry, guys. We’ll still be with each other in spirit. Now, then. Etiumaza o etebus o erono… Irawotok ugumust…”
“Then…” Yugi started as the “Dweeb Patrol” floated in the rising water for the last time. “This is goodbye. Pharaoh…”
Yugi’s last sight of Atem before he had been completely submerged was the pharaoh giving him a thumbs up.

Well I just watched episode 23 of SuperS. Or, episode 150 of Sailor Moon. We’re three quarters of the way done. God it feels weird, we’ve made so much progress. Moreover, the single longest series I’ve seen is DavPro’s JoJo’s, at 152 episodes, 2 OVAs, and 3 recap episodes. And like, we’ve nearly beat that. Sailor Moon is about to become the longest thing I’ve ever seen. I really should watch DBZ already, huh? Anyway, the actual episode was fine. New villains are the Amazoness Quartet, four little-ish girls with boobs that are colour coded red, orange, green, and blue, making me think they’ll individually be beat by mars, Venus, Jupiter and Mercury respectively, because yeah. Also they kinda don’t really like Zirconia, and try to usurp her this episode actually. Only 1 of them does the actual fighting and loses, but from Zirconia’s struggle it’s evident that the 4 could totally take her out, and Nehelenia doesn’t actually care. By the way Nehelenia claims to be the true queen of the moon so if we’re about to get more Silver Millennium lore that’ll be pretty appreciated, we’ve not really covered anything like that in what feels like forever. Anyway the Dead Moon Circus’ big ass circus tent is now kinda just, visible to everyone in the entire city, and they’re even putting on circus shows, which makes me wonder what the fuck was the point of Usagi being able to see it in the first episode. Whatever, I’ve already said weakest season so far so I can just, ignore that, I guess. Nehelenia tells Zirconia who tells the Amazoness Quartet that the mirror of dreams Pegasus is hiding in should be golden because of his Golden Crystal, so that’s a hint that should speed up the process a bit. Their strat for this episode is to lure Chibiusa’s friend out of the circus and just attack her, but the Sailor Team all show up and fucking finally get to do a group “tsuki ni kawatte oshioki yo” for like the first time in the entire season! Thank fucking god. Btw the entire Amazoness Quartet are attacking here but it’s only the red one (their names are Cerecere, Junjun, Vesves and Pallapalla but I can’t be bothered remembering those) summons a Remless, and when they’re hanging out in their hangout in the circus (which is like a massage parlour and the dudes massaging them do this chant that’s kinda annoying and I much prefer the kinda jazzy feel of the bar that the Amazon Trio were hanging out in) they’re all offering real sweetly to take the next one for each other. So I’m not totally sure what the status quo’s gonna be like for the next bit, but hey it should be fun, and aside from the hair I do quite like all of the Amazoness Quartet’s designs so, yeah. That’s all.
