Katrina has had a small acting and music career in the UK, minor roles in some TV shows and a band with one EP, but she and her mother move to Manhattan when Anne Archibald calls her cousin in a panic over her husband's financial issues.  Blair Waldorf isn't happy to have another It Girl in town, but competition isn't what Katrina wants from her cousin's girlfriend

2 – Eloise Quinn, we meet her as Carter’s “Long Term, Long Distance, Low Commitment, Casual Girlfriend”, she dates Nate on and off and he might be her endgame (but tbh who doesn't she date), Serena’s cousin. her mom being Lily’s younger sister (she might have lived with it been raised by Cece idk) who moves to New York after Eric’s suicide attempt when Serena is still in Connecticut, little bit feral about him

3 – Olivia Olsen in Pretty Isn’t Pretty (gossip girl 2021), Pageant princess who got a modelling gig and moved to Paris, took a new contract that’s based mainly out of New York – maybe with Eleanor Waldorf – so she’s back in the city for the first time in a couple of years, her parents want her to marry for wealth and status, she’s more interested in getting tipsy and hooking up with Max in the bathrooms at Dumbo Hall, sort of a personality mix between Blair/Audrey and Serena/Julian vibes (very smart queen bee type but also the party girl tabloid/instagram princess)

Who would the couriers be? The yiga?? I’m not sure that the yiga are big enough of a role for that, but again it’s an AU, we can make it so they’re more prevalent. What about the rest of The Arcana though? And what would be the boss fights? And most importantly… what would be the Koroks

I was also thinking about maybe switching the sages powers around. Asra and Water fit pretty well, iirc it’s canon that he can cast best with water-related magic. I like Julian and Fire. Nadia and Lightning could work, but what if it could change to be something related to Sight somehow? I don’t know how that would work though. I haven’t played Muriels route so I have no idea if being the Sage of Spirits fits him, but I doubt it, so it would probably be changed to something forestry related. As for Portia, I really don’t feel like wind magic suits her, nor anyone for that matter, but I’m unsure what to change it to. Light, maybe, but considering light powers is pretty important in totk and Zelda in general, I don’t think that would fit for a normal sage, nor would Portia fit Zelda’s role.

If anyone has any ideas please tell me, I should have Anon asks enabled but I’ll double check!

Fiene's story begins in White River, Colorado. Born within the Visser pack, Fi was raised with their customs and traditions. One with the moon and with her wolf form, Fi embodies all of the feral and wild traits expected from a wolf raised in such an isolated pack. Their way of living was something she respected, she believed that it enabled them to thrive and be stronger than the average wolf. Cut away from the outside world, Fiene learned exactly why their isolation was their strength.

She became a mother at the age of twenty-two, a beautiful baby girl blessed her life and little Anna became her entire world. A world that was brought to a bitter end and far too quickly. Two years later, just a normal day became one of horror when Anna and her father were killed by outside wolves while venturing through the vast land belonging to the Vissers. It solidified Fiene's beliefs that remaining away from life beyond their ways was safer.

Something changed within Fiene that day. Every wolf that knew her knew that she became harder, sharper. The warm and nurturing woman no longer existed and died the same day she lost her daughter, her family. She emerged from her grief as a colder woman, harsher and stricter to shield a broken heart that had no way of being fixed.

Years later when the war raged on beyond the land and the Vissers were none the wiser, the Cross pack entered their territory. Fiene was among the loud voices opposed to helping them. When the outside wolves were welcomed and aided, Fi was staunch to her word. She deserted the pack she had always known and braced the world beyond that she never wanted to be a part of.

Fiene remained a wild wolf but alone, stalking through states by herself and refusing to ever seek safety from towns or joining forces with wolves she met along the way. She continued to survive the only way she knew how but being alone and out in the open became her downfall. While breaking through the border to Canada, she was captured in May of 2023 and taken to a holding camp.

It was here she met two wolves that changed everything. A tiny girl was lost and alone in the chaos of the camp and Fiene could feel the harsh and rusted chains around her heart loosen. Reminded of her own daughter, Fi attached herself to the small girl who couldn't even utter a word until eventually she said her name. 'Cece'. Another wolf helped Fi to protect the small girl, even as they were moved onto a facility some weeks later. Harvey and Fiene forged an unlikely mutual trust, enduring the torture they experienced while attempting to shield little Cece from as much as possible.

After the facility was liberated in August, the three of them remained together. Fi was hesitant to leave Cece and then came the long and torturous search for the little girl's family, with next to no information to go from. The months seemed to blur together and then, as the seasons were changing, Fiene returned to the safe town they were settled in to discover it had been evacuated and destroyed. She tried to follow any trail of information to find Harvey and Cece again, praying they were able to stay together. But, ultimately, Fiene was alone again. Sickened by the loss of Cece in the same way she was when her own daughter died.

It wasn't until the October while searching alone that Fi was found by two other wolves, a hesitant and cautious interaction where she had to learn once again to put trust in others.

In 1972, the Club of Rome published "Limits to Growth," which used pretty straightforward modeling to predict that the world's productive capacity would be exhausted soon.

But over the years, the limits in Limits to Growth have proven to be more complicated. Capitalists have many failings, but one thing that they can be relied upon to do, wherever possible, is reduce the costs that they incur.

Oftentimes, cost reductions can be realized by externalizing: polluting, overseas dumping, exploiting labor. Sometimes, cost reductions come from reducing quality or quantity while holding prices steady.

Our electronics are cheaper because they're made by companies in China whose labor practices drive employees to suicide. When they were made by unionized labor onshore, they cost more.

For years, the late, lamented Consumerist blog documented the "Grocery Shrink Ray" whereby common packaged goods got smaller while their prices held steady.

But capitalists also realize savings by redesigning products so that they they use less labor, energy and materials. Compare a stone house to a modern efficient home: the labor, energy and material inputs per cubic meter have been in freefall for generations.

The Billy bookcase you bought this year is visually and functionally equivalent to the ones I assembled at a bookstore in 1991, but they're lighter (less material), pack smaller (eking out improvements in the knapsack problem), and are composed of parts from fewer suppliers.

The same is true of cars, clothes, and other categories of goods. Capitalism doesn't care how it reduces costs (material, energy and labor are the major costs), and it uses a mix of benign and harmful techniques to achieve these reductions.

All of this leads capitalism's true believers to conclude that capitalism is compatible with planetary survival: left to its own devices, capitalist's cheapness will reduce material and energy inputs, and the carbon footprint of our goods will fall even as our economy grows.

The authors say McAfee cherry-picks his stats, missing instances in which the growth that seems to happen without increased consumption is actually just externalizing - consuming resources somewhere else, off the manufacturer's books (but still on Earth's ecological ledger).

They also say that McAfee fails to acknowledge that even where there's growth without increased consumption, that there's a Red Queen's Race: when things get cheaper (because of increased material/energy efficiency), we buy more of it.

This is a familiar pattern: making it easier to travel increases traffic, which erases the gains from the new travel method. Uber and Lyft first increased mobility in cities, then they paralyzed them:

The critique of "uncoupled" growth is correct, but incomplete.

It's easy to imagine a city that uses internal combustion for mass transit but not private cars - and massively increases landspeed relative to horses.

The barrier to such a city isn't tech or economics: it's ideology. No one came down off a mountain with two stone tablets saying "Thou shalt own a personal automobile." Rather, car companies  corrupted urban planning to reduce transit and make us reliant on cars.

Likewise, it's possible to imagine an economic system in which manufacturing relentlessly reduces material/energy inputs while banning externalizing (cheating) and limiting new consumption.

Leigh Phillip's "Austerity Ecology & the Collapse-Porn Addicts" describes this in detail. It's a call for a Promethean Left that demands technology to sustain the planet while giving peasants the lives of lords, not reducing lords to peasants.

what are the biggest problems you have with dair. i don’t really ship blair with anyone so im kinda indifferent to both db and cb so i was just curious what it is you don’t like about them? :)

Mainly, the timing of it and how it came to be. Season 5 is what made me dislike them so much.

I really enjoyed their friendship in S4, their dynamic was fun, and the way they became reluctant friends seemed natural, even good for them. at this point in the show they had invested too much of themselves on significants others that had let them down, and Serena had Ben, and Chuck had Raina, and so it was fair for Dan and Blair to try to move on too; and it wouldn’t had been so weird for them to get together after all, they were friends now, were spending a lot of time together and had a lot of interests in common, in the end they would have realize that they worked better as friends and had an amicable break up.

But having them date at S5 at that precise moment was awful. For starters Blair is at an all time low. Not too long ago she was in a horrible accident, lost a baby, the love of her life almost died, She’s literally trapped in marriage for a year, a marriage her mother, her best friend and Chuck (the people that love her the most) begged her to not go through with. So she’s basically counting Dan as the only one of her friends she can be close to, he knows about it, and he’s like well I have feelings for you, so you either date me or we can’t be friends any more. It’s selfish, he knows how affected she is and if he really loved her we would have been there for her without putting her in the spot like that, who was to say she wouldn’t, have felt in love with him in the long run? And also she’s freaking married and not only that but the dowry is hanging over her head, and again he knows all of this, and he just... doesn’t care.

Also the show was really tasteless at having them kiss at the hospital while Cece’s dying, Serena considered Dan to be the love of her life, and Blair knows this, she was actually trying to get them together the previous episode, by all accounts she knows she shouldn’t date Dan and the show realized how bad this looked and that’s why they have Serena give her permission but sorry, is not enough, it makes Blair even more self centered than ever, because she’s basically making Serena have to watch the guy she is in love with date her best friend and the worst part? Blair’s not even really in love with the guy she’s just distracting herself from all her problems and pain over her situation. Yes I know Serena wasn’t always the perfect friend, but up until now Blair hadn’t disregarded Serena’s feelings in such a way.

And in more frivolous points they do nothing for me as a couple. Dair was really obnoxious as a couple, that episode where they had that saloon is so annoying, they always seemed concerned about only them, Blair practically ditches all her friends for that brief period. They didn’t have that spark, they may have being intellectually compatible (how pretentious is that) but Blair never saw him as an equal and he didn’t really get her either, he literally says at one point “I thought she had change” he likes her the best when she’s acting mellow, and even when it was obvios she was in denial or making a mistake he just enables her, when he takes her to the steps of the Met dressed as a princess it may seem cute on the surface but being like “so you can feel like a princess one last time” it’s no only a bit patronizing but the message she needed to hear was “you don’t need to be a princess, you’re powerful and better than that, you’re a queen in your own righ” or something like that, Blair needs people that challenges her and also called her out when need to, Dan was basically just fell in a routine of telling her what she wanted to hear. All in all I feel they were not good to each other and it also left a bad taste in my mouth that out of all her relationships this one feels really more like her running away from her feelings, a ditch last attempt of not dealing with her relationship with Chuck, it’s just so pointless in the long run
