thinking about how expectant of her own death scully always was, but how completely struck by shock she was in mulder’s, despite how clear it had always been that he would one day die for the cause. tragedy in the x-files as something you should have been prepared for, but never could be, in scully standing at a funeral, as her mother had stood at her father’s, and barely being able to speak. she should be able to do this? bred to be a war widow, attached to an endless line. but no matter how many times she saw him put that gun to himself, or run off in front of another, she really did believe that he would always come back. she really did believe that there would never be a day where he didn’t just appear in the doorway again.

#‘oh my god you’re so naive / you’ll leave this world in a drunken heap / who’ll make the arrangements baby / them or me?’ #oh father john misty we’re really in it now #that song (‘please don’t die’) has been discussed RE: msr before but it’s that ‘who’ll make the arrangements?’ line that sticks with me #in the song it’s from his wife’s point of view in his addiction/suicidality. how he’s always running off with ‘reptilian strangers.’ #but it always makes me think of scully standing at that funeral and saying….he was the last one. #his sister is GONE. his mother is gone. his father is gone. #and that realization of…she had to plan that funeral. the flowers and the people and the priest and the grave. #she’s pregnant and she’s alone and he ran off after someone else or some answers as he always does. but who will make the arrangements? #in that moment at the funeral when skinner says….but he’s NOT the last one….. #she has to keep going because he’s left her this baby she’s carrying. and she is so ill-equipped and she carries so much perceived shame. #her mother did it. her mother WOULDVE done it- had ahab not come home one day. the women on the base she grew up on did it. #and anyone in the world could’ve told you that she would have to do it one day- no matter how many years she spends chasing after him #as he jumps onto moving trains or pulls the trigger on his own head or runs to the arctic #but she never actually thought she would. and now she’s realizing that she can’t. #and she’s planning a funeral and decorating a nursery at the same time and she is ‘just not capable’ #txf.txt

i think that shameless showed how fiona had to take on such a huge parental role in her family system almost too well??? because even seeing her being young and taking care of her siblings and knowing that this probably started long before she'd reached adulthood as we do in the first couple seasons, we as an audience tend to hold her to a higher standard? like i've seen so many people excuse the other kids (especially the younger ones) because, "well, what do you expect when they grew up like that?" but just because we saw them grow up like that doesn't mean that it wasn't worse for fiona, the first born, the one who had to go it and learn it all alone. and then for lip, the second born, who maybe had fiona to give him some tips and pointers, but still struggled. and with every subsequent birth, it seems like their situation was maybe a bit (???????) better for having older siblings with experience to love and care for them, and yet we somehow afford them more empathy and understanding than the eldest ones, who had to figure it all out on their own.

Then to use that and say Nessie had a crush on her OWN SISTER (Diana, so like informally adopted, but still 😡) now????

It just makes me so mad. Freaking guys. They could have used another name like oh my god. She's not even the first silver swan why the fuck would they do that if they're not going to explore her history w diana (which she no longer has!!!!) or how intensely fucked up everything got for her. What is even the fucking point of this then other to drag a main character of the ww supporting cast through the mud again for genuinely no reason. My favourite thing when writing for hotgw, now that I'm so far into the story that the in universe timeline has reached winter, is outlining a scene where I go "Maybe there is an adjacent late show scene I could use as a point of comparison for my dialouge."

Only to pull up any season 7 episode transcript and instantly close it like, "I could smash the keyboard with my face and write better dialouge then this. Nevermind."

#they've been there for years. i love dead things and insects :) #ive been an insect thing since forever. dont post abt them much bc one of my mewchies dun like em so i just think abt them #my dead stuff collection is extensive and amazing if i do say so myself. my best are a flat blue tongue that got squashed by a car and drie #out on the road and a baby bird from an egg that had broken onto the footpath and was drying there before i picked it up with a leaf #japanese insects really excite me bc the beetles are SO big! #and the ants too. ive noticed this #ive played animal crossing on my sisters switch and seeing the butterflies from it in real life is really funny #oh thats green butterfly of animal crossing fame #ive also been seeing a LOT of dragonflies and asian hornets.

when my sister worked at wendy’s she had a manager that was an alcoholic and would be sitting at his desk in the back puking in a trash can every night going through alcohol withdrawals. he also lived in a tent in his mom’s front lawn with his girlfriend because he lived with his mom and the mom “wasn’t comfortable” with the girlfriend being inside the house. and he was in his mid-to-late thirties too. and i can’t remember if it was him or the other guy who would tell everyone who worked the drive thru to drop customers’ change on the ground on purpose but make it look like an accident because most of the time they wouldn’t bother picking it up and then he could go out later after they closed and grab it himself. the other guy also told her that testing positive for covid and showing proof of that “wasn’t an excuse” and he expected her to come in to work anyway. and this wendy’s is of course also where she met not only KEVIN but also kevin’s cousin who recently got arrested for killing a guy

#there was another manager who was like 29 and she would flirt with the high school boys that got hired #and then she got fired and burger king immediately hired her as a manager there #and kevin works at cookout now. he’s still not even a manager #he still can’t drive. he’s like almost 28 i think. he owes several thousand dollars in rent even though it’s only $500 a month #and he makes like $2000 a month at cookout but he spends it all on weed which is not legal here due to sc being one of the worst states ever #and i still haven’t even met him on account of if i do i will kill him instantly and everyone knows this #all the local fast food places are literally just passing around the worst managers & employees possible #like the world’s most pathetic and fucked up blunt it’s so sad #oh yeah AND kevin’s ex-wife after they broke up got with another guy. had a baby. and then they both went to jail for killing it #and she used to work at wendy’s also. literally multiple people who used to work at that wendy’s with my sister are now in jail for murder
