A new key visual for Kagami Yoshimizu’s (Lucky Star) original anime “Maesetsu!” has been unveiled. It will premiere in 2020.

"The anime centers on four girls at the full bloom of their youth, working hard to achieve their dreams as they struggle valiantly. In Japanese entertainment, Maesetsu! refers to an introductory talk or explanation addressed to the audience before the broadcast of television programs, usually performed by assistant directors and particularly comedians in variety or comedy shows."

Precious Adams and Michaela Deprince are two amazing dancers of color (African American).  

If you’re looking for WOC that aren’t African American and are prima ballerinas then there’s Hee Seo (Korea) and Stella Abrera (The Philippines) at ABT; Francesca Hayward (Kenya) and Akane Takada (Japan) at the Royal Ballet; Soo Youn Cho (Korea), Karina Gonzalez (Venezuela), Nozomi Lijima (Japan),  and Yuriko Kajiya (Japan) at Houston Ballet; Xiao Nan Yu (China) at National Ballet of Canada; Erina Takahashi (Japan) and Shiori Kase (Japan) at English National Ballet.  There’s also the Joburg Ballet in Johannesburg that is mainly black dancers.  

I admit that my main ballet knowledge is that of Russian companies which are mainly white with some Asians mixed in (even though the Mikhailovsky has Adrian Mitchell who is African American), but there are more dancers of color than make the news.  I will tell you that just because you don’t see the diversity on a professional stage yet, it is there.  In my adult ballet class, I was the only white person and a huge percentage of my studio as a whole are POC.  So I definitely encourage you to get interested and try it because you don’t know who you’ll see at your local studio.

Maesetsu, presentato il cast dell’anime

L’originale serie animata da Studio Gokumi e AXsiZ andrà in onda nel 2020.

Il sito ufficiale di “Maesetsu!” (Maesetsu!: Opening Act) si è aggiornato rivelando il cast dell’originale serie animata prodotta da Kadokawa e ideata da Mugendai∞, che andrà in onda nel corso del prossimo anno e seguirà delle giovani coppie di cabarettiste in erba. 

Per il concept design è stato coinvolto nel progetto Kagami Yoshimizu, l’autore della popolare commedia slice of life “Lucky Star”, il quale ora si sta occupando di una versione manga 4-koma dell’anime.

Meet Comedian Candidate Girls in TV Anime MAESETSU! Teaser PV

    For its premiere in 2020, a public presentation for the upcoming original anime MAESETSU! - Opening Act- was held in Akihabaraha yesterday on January 7, 2020. A teaser PV to introduce its main characters screened at the event for the first time is now also streamed on KADOKAWA's official anime YouTube channel. In Japanese entertainment, "Maesetsu" usually means a short introduction talk before TV show recordings performed by assistant directors or rookie comedians. The anime's story centers on eight girls' struggles in the comedy entertainment business.

    Synopsis: 

  Four 19-year-old girls: Fubuki Kitakaze, Mafuyu Kogarashi, Rin Shintani, and Nayuta Asougi, who aim to become professional comedians, practice their joke materials hard while working as a part-time worker day and night. Their motto is "Make everyone happy with laughter! then their happiness makes us happy, too." But the success is still far away from them.

  Their goal is to stand on the stage of Namba Grand Kagetsu, which is considered as "Budokan in the comedy entertainment world." But for now, they have decided to try to be on the nearest stage for them, the lowest level of Mugendai Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, called "Farm Class." This is a struggling success story of the eight girls in four units.

Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid, quattro character video ci ricordano che l'anime tornerà nel 2021

La prima stagione della serie e lo special sono disponibili in Italia su Crunchyroll.

Dopo aver svelato la locandina l’estate scorsa, Kyoto Animation torna a ricordarci che l’attesa seconda stagione di “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid” arriverà nel corso del 2021. Per farlo, lo studio ha pubblicato quattro character video, incentrati sui quattro adorabili draghi creati da Cool-kyou Shinja, protagonisti della popolare serie animata tratta dal suo manga che mescola senza soluzione di continuità commedia, fantasy e slice of life. 

Il primo è dedicato a Tohru, interpretata da Yuuki Kuwahara (Nozomi Gakuraku in A Centaur's Life), e al suo amore per Kobayashi. 

Il secondo è dedicato a Kanna, interpretata da Maria Naganawa (Yukimusume in Kiitaro's yokai picture diary), e alla sua vita quotidiana. 

Il terzo è dedicato a Elma, interpretata da Yuuki Takada (Aoba Suzukaze in New Game!), e ai suoi tre cibi preferiti. 

Il quarto è dedicato a Quetzalcoatl (o Lucoa per gli amici), interpretata da Minami Takahashi (Megumi Tadokoro in Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma), e al suo esuberante modo di vestire. 

Una prima stagione di 13 episodi, diretta da Yasuhiro Takemoto (Amagi Brilliant Park, Hyoka), tristemente scomparso nel tragico rogo appiccato all’interno dello studio nell’estate 2019, è andata in onda durante l’inverno del 2017.

La serie è disponibile in Italia in streaming su Crunchyroll, in versione sottotitolata, assieme all’episodio speciale “San Valentino e le Terme (Non aspettatevi troppo, però)”, uscito originariamente solo con l’edizione home video dell’anime.

La signorina Kobayashi è una giovane impiegata che vive una vita solitaria e noiosa, divisa tra casa e ufficio. Finché un giorno non salva un drago in difficoltà. Il drago in questione si chiama Tohru e, tramite la magia, si trasforma in una adorabile ragazza umana (a parte corna e coda, ovvio) ed è disposta a fare qualsiasi cosa pur di ripagare il suo debito. Cosa ne pensi a proposito la signorina Kobayashi è del tutto irrilevante. Con un drago come coinquilina, la vita di Kobayashi non sarà più la stessa (e vorrei vedere…)

Il manga viene serializzato sulle pagine della rivista Monhtly Action di Futabasha dal 2013 e, ad ora, conta 10 volumi pubblicati in Giappone.

Welcome New Maesetsu! Character Designs to the Stage

  Eight aspiring stand-up comediennes are aiming for the top in the upcoming Maesetsu!, and the latest news from the new series includes full character art for our main cast.

  Anime fans will immediately recognize the distinctive style of Lucky Star creator Kagami Yoshimizu in the art. Yoshimizu is credited as the creator of the upcoming original series, as well as supplying character designs. The show will follow four college-age girls, paired off into duos, and their rivals as they chase their dream of breaking into the stand-up comedy scene.

  Also revealed in the new art drop were character designs for Freak!, a real-world comedy duo who will be appearing in the series. Junji Tomita (left) and Ubu no Hatsuna (right) will be voicing themselves:

    The series is set to premiere in Japan on January 7. A related broadcast, Maesetsu! Channel, will be premiering around the same time, with guest appearances by comedians and cast members.
