Scene: a yacht is anchored in a secluded bay on a Greek island. It's the early 1960s. As the camera pans in, you see there are two middle aged blond men sitting in the cockpit. The deck boards are up, revealing the engine, and there are various tools strewn about. A third man, with chestnut hair, is passing cups of tea out to them from the cabin. There is a general air that a difficult bit of work has been done and they are taking a well-deserved break before finishing things off.
"I've always wondered where you learned mechanics," Laurie commented, handing the cup over.
Rob glanced at him. "You've never been on board a submarine. It's one of the entry requirements to know how all the pipes and valves work, and how to apply basic first aid while you wait for the real engineers to show up."
"It's true, they're horribly complicated," Jonathan added from further inside the cabin, "I've visited quite a few, not that I saw much beyond the wardroom. You need an advanced degree just to go to the toilet. They tried to show me once and I decided 'it's ok, I can wait!'" He sipped his tea before adding, "Of course, we were only ever alongside at the time."
"You were inviting him to parties then?" Ralph smiled, leaving back against the gunwale.
"Oh no, I was only First Lieutenant at the time."
"I assume that made you the president of the wardroom?"
"Yes, but ultimately the skipper has control of who's allowed on board." Ralph opened his mouth to respond, but Rob hadn't finished. "It was very awkward, he had no space to host things himself. I suppose technically I could have told him to take his parties elsewhere... Not that I would have banned Reverend Lawrence from joing us."
"I should hope not!" Jonathan said, before adding more thoughtfully, "I don't think I was actually ever on board Sword."
"Poor old thing," Rob murmured.
Ralph glanced at him as Laurie, out of sight, asked innocently "What happened?" His remark was addressed to Jonathan but it was Rob, outside, who responded first
"I don't know if that was ever properly determined. It seems likely we hit a mine and it didn't go off fully. Defective or something." In the short pause, Laurie's face had the stricken look of someone who knows they've put their foot in it. No one noticed. The other two were watching Rob.
His eyes had taken on a distant look. He brought his cup up as thought to take a sip but instead continued, still staring into the horizon and the past, "What I know for certain is I was sat in the wardroom finishing a report when there was an almighty bang. By the time I'd made it to the doorway there was water flooding up the passageway ankle deep. It was clear there wasn't a future in fighting it, so I started herding everyone I could find into the fore-ends." Another brief silence descended. From his seat just inside the door Laurie couldn't see Rob's face and was watching Jonathan's. From his rapt attention it was obvious he'd never heard any of this before.
"You get drilled and drilled in how to escape, but you always hope you'll never need it. Luckily I'd come off watch about half an hour beforehand and had a pretty decent idea where we were." This time, the pause seemed final. Jonathan slowly closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Outside, Ralph said quietly, "You were very lucky."
"Yes. Yes, we were." Rob shook himself and seemed to return to the present. "Right. Well. This engine won't put itself back together." He downed the last of his tea, putting the cup to one side. The practical manner his friends were familiar with had returned.
"No, they don't in my experience," Ralph replied, reaching for the same tone. Laurie leaned through the doorway almost sheepishly to take the empty cups.

Kirkus Reviews says:
By turns gritty and sweet, the book deftly captures the confusion of adolescence. A finely executed, wonderfully evocative tale of teen discovery.
Check out the review here: https://www.kirkusreviews.com/book-reviews/christopher-stanton/nick-pope/
I'm so pleased that readers have responded to my graphic novel Nick Pope! It's the illustrated diary of a troubled but resilient high school sophomore in 1987.

Escape from New York (1981)
Tumblr media
Escape From New York is a man’s movie. It makes you want to grow up and become the same kind of tough, play-by-your-own-rules, get-it-done kind of man as Snake Plissken. If your brain tells you this isn’t possible, you can still gather enjoyment from the terrific premise, memorable characters, dialogue and imagery.
In 1988, a 400% increase in crime has pushed the U.S. government to transform Manhattan into a giant maximum-security prison. Walls surround the coasts. The waters are patrolled. Ways out have been destroyed or mined. Criminals are sent in and allowed to do as they please but can never leave.
Nine years later, the President of the United States (Donald Pleasence) is forced to land inside Manhattan after terrorists hijack Air Force One. Taken hostage by the Duke of New York (Isaac Hayes), the only viable tactic is to use a man who will fit right in: former Special Forces soldier Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell).
The premise is wild but the film knows it. There’s a cynical and ironic sense of humor throughout, such as intercom messages that announce that, should they choose to, prisoners can choose suicide rather than be sent to Manhattan. The Statue of Liberty overseeing the world’s biggest and most inhumane prison is not a coincidence. It allows us to accept the wild setup and move on. You can see the film’s influence everywhere from video games such as Batman: Arkham City to thinly-veiled homages like Neil Marshall’s Doomsday. There’s a certain joy that makes you mutter “… yeah!” after every one of Kurt Russel’s lines. He’s so cool with his one-liners and remarks about how crappy the situation is you can’t wait to see more. Watch this picture and you’ll never see an eyepatch the same way again.
Made on a shoestring budget, the picture feels authentic. Had it been filmed today, it would feature big stars in cameo roles and elaborate set pieces. Instead, the prisoners living in New York have crude weapons whose simplicity is brutal. They try to glamorize their world as best they can with the resources available, but you never forget the hell they’re living in. The gladiatorial ring Plissken ends up fighting in looks like something you’d see in some middle-of-nowhere American town whose name you only hear about because the locals went too far and got somebody killed. Instead of going for spectacle, the film focuses on its characters and the ticking clock: if Snake can’t get the president out of there within the time limit, the world will be plunged into nuclear war. With a hero like Snake, you can’t be sure of the outcome. The man lives 60 seconds at a time. He’s only doing the mission because it’s his way to a presidential pardon. Even so, our antihero is so bitter he may botch the mission just to stick to police commissioner Bob Hauk (Lee Van Cleef).
Multiple viewings of Escape from New York bring to your attention the details that make it a special picture. It makes an immediate impact but the film’s climax, its willingness to go all the way with its premise, and its iconic moments give it lasting power. (On Blu-ray, August 4, 2018)

Gibbs x Reader One Shot
Prompt: You’re Gibbs’ wife and an NCIS agent and see your underage son at a bar while out on a sting operation.
Mentions of drinking.
You fixed your earrings in the car mirror and made sure your ear piece was secured.
“Testing audio. Y/L/N, you look absolutely ravishing in that dress. You should wear it more often,” Tony flirted.
“Jethro. Smack him for me please.”
All you heard was the familiar sound of hand meeting head and smiled.
“Alright so we need to make sure he either provides us with the name of his boss or the address where they’re hiding him. Remember, he only agreed to this meeting because he thinks you’re a double agent. Don’t leave the bar with him and if he gets spooked, we’ve got Torres inside already at the bar,” your husband lectured.
“Yes honey. I got it.”
You walked across the parking lot and into the semi crowded club, looking for your mark without seeming obvious. You spotted Nick first, pretending to nurse a drink at the bar and then saw your mark, sitting not far away at a high top table.
You walked over and took a seat across from him.
“Powell?” you asked.
“Yeah. You must be Agent Stanton,” he confirmed.
“So how do you want to do this? You gonna give me the name of your employer? Or I’ll settle for an address of where he’ll be.”
“Slow your role Agent. We’ll get there. First I wanna know a little bit about you. How is it that an NCIS agent with an outstanding background turns on her own?”
Remembering the backstory Abby created for you, you rolled your eyes and recited your lines. “It was a good run for a while. But doesn’t pay nearly as much as gun running.”
He nodded and sat back in his chair, thinking.
“Listen. If you’re not the guy to come to for stuff like this, I can find someone else. You just seemed like someone in charge.”
He scoffed, clearly offended, “Oh I am, and if anyone says anything different they find out the truth real quick.”
“Did Agent Carter find out the truth?”
He squinted his eyes at you in suspicion just as a familiar laugh broke through the silence.
Turning your head, you look over towards the VIP section of the club and can’t believe what you see. Your 17 year old son laughing and drinking with a bunch of older men and women. Had you not been on an important op, you would’ve walked over and dragged him out of there by his ear.
“Before we continue, I need a drink. Would you like one?” You ask, grabbing your purse and trying to contain your anger.
“Another Jack and Coke.”
You nodded and turned to walk toward the bar.
“What are you doing?” Tony asked through the ear piece.
“Jethro. I just spotted our son laughing and drinking with a bunch of people in the VIP section. Do something now before I march over there and blow this whole operation.”
“Torres. Get over there and bring him out here to us. Quietly,” Jethro ordered.
As you reached the bar, Torres left and you ordered 2 whiskey and cokes, genuinely now needing a drink. While walking back over to your table, you saw Torres pulling your son aside out of the corner of your eye.
“Here you go. Now. Where were we?”
————
You stomped over to the surveillance van and threw open the doors, meeting the eyes of your son who already looked like he had been thoroughly chastised.
“Tell me why on God’s green earth were you in that club with a group of people twice your age!”
Tim and Tony were both quiet as your husband stood in the back with his arms crossed. “I wasn’t even drinking mom. My friend invited me and knew the bouncer. I was just having fun.”
“Having fun? You do know that is a place where very dangerous individuals like to hang out don’t you? You could’ve “had fun” in so many different ways than what you did. You put yourself at risk for all different types of dangers, not to mention arrest, had anyone knew you were underage!”
He stayed quiet, not looking you in the eyes and took a deep breath. “Out. Now. You’re riding with me and your father.”
“But Tony said I could-
“Hey now, I didn’t exactly promise anything,” Tony defended himself with his hands up.
“Get. Out. Now.”
Both him and Jethro exited the van and you all walked over to the secondary car with Jethro driving. For about half the ride, it was completely silent until you broke it.
“You are grounded for a month. No games, no computer, and you get the emergency phone only. We expect you home every night at exactly 6pm, any later without a solid excuse and your grounding sentence gets added to. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yeah.”
“Don’t yeah your mother. Does she make herself clear?” Jethro said sternly, backing you up.
“Yes, sir.”
You closed your eyes and tried not thinking about all the ways the night could’ve gone wrong. Jethro must of sensed your anxiety because you felt his hand rest on your thigh and give it a reassuring squeeze.
“We’re not trying to be mean S/N. We just want you to really understand the dangers in what you did and that it can’t go unpunished. We love you.”
“I know. Love you guys too,” he answered, softly, making you tear up.
“Now we’re gonna go home, you’re going to give us all your electronics and then help your father down in the basement.”
There was an obvious groan from him and you both smiled. Putting your hand on top of Jethros, you lock eyes with him and he gives you his famous smirk.

Master List and Preview below:
Tumblr media
Frank was looking at a Los Angeles icon, Dodger Stadium.  It was his new home, his new team and hopefully his new life.  He asked a security guard where to go and was met at the door by an assistant.  She was a shameless flirt, commenting on Frank’s forearms and his tattoos, cooing about how good of a player he is.  There was zero chance of Frank being interested.  His Friday Night adventures were reserved for road trips only. His one-night stands worked out just fine, in his opinion.
As he was guided into the conference room, Frank was met with the president of operations, Nick Stanton. “Mr. Stanton.”
“Frank! Good to see you again.” He shakes hands with Frank. “We’re waiting for everyone so can I offer you a drink?” He gestures to Frank to sit at the table.
“Just a cola, thanks.” Frank took the seat next to the head of the table.
“How was the move?”
“Smoother than I thought it would be. Mary, my niece, threw a couple of tantrums but between me and my nanny, we managed to get her here.”
“Nanny?”
“Oh yeah, Scott, he’s great. He was willing to move with us, which is great since Mary seems to only listen to him.” Frank chuckles. “Who would listen to your uncle/pseudo father?”
“I remember that story,” Nick replies. “You are brave to take on a baby right after bring drafted.”
Frank shrugged. “Its not that big of a deal. You would do anything for family, especially Mary.”
More voices float towards the conference room and Frank stands as he sees his agent and lawyer walk in and shake his hand. Then the general manager for the Dodgers comes in, making small talk with Frank.
“Ok, I think we are just missing the team doctor and our legal team,” Nick tells everyone. “Its not Natasha, she’s busy with another client.  She’s sending in their new associate.”
Frank just nods as the GM goes over the training schedule and when he would meet the team.  The conference room door opens and Frank turns to see and his stomach drops. He feels himself become clammy and pale. Because this shouldn’t be happening.
Fuck.
He looks at the brunette that walked in.
she’s definitely not supposed to be here.
What the FUCK!
Abby Hernandez, his ex-girlfriend, love of his life, walked into the room.

What music do you think the knights of camelot and merlin would listen to? like if they had spotifys what would they be filled with? this is such a random thought I had omg im so sorry but id love to hear your thoughts!
Tumblr media
I love this question!
・Merlin, Gwaine and Lancelot are diehard Whitney Houston fans
・Unholy by Sam Smith would definitely be in Arthur's and Gwaine's playlists
・They ALL love Ms Jackson by Outkast. It could probably be their group song - like when girls get excited in the club and all look at each other when their song comes on
𝐌𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐧:
・He would LOVE Fleetwood Mac, especially Rhiannon and Dreams. He would turn that sh*t up and dance around the room with his eyes closed, absolutely vibing
・Kate Bush!!! Running Up That Hill!!!
・Also loves Greta Van Fleet, especially their song Heat Above
・His music taste is very indie, pop-rockesque
𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐫:
・Kings of Leon, would blush when he first heard Sex on Fire but absolutely fall in love with their 'Come Around Sundown' album
・Loves House of the Rising Sun but the cover by Muse
・The Arctic Monkeys. He would have their album AM, 24/7. It drives Merlin insane
𝐋𝐞𝐨𝐧:
・Really likes Leonard Cohen, particularly
・One of his favourite songs is O' Children” by Nick Cave. Another is Hoist That Rag by Tom Waits
・Leon likes music that touches the part of him that he doesn't show. The deep part, the emotional part.
・LOVES MITSKI!!!! Even though Mitski talks about women's issues, Leon can feel her through the music. He feels the exact emotion that Mitski does
𝐆𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞:
・ABBA he would die anytime Dancing Queen came on. Like do this lil squeal and pull Merlin onto the dancefloor
・Loves Kylie Minogue's Spinning Around - would totally make up a dance for it
・Lana Del Rey! Oh my god he would so romanticise himself when he listens to her music
𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐭:
・This could be argued but I kinda feel like he'd love heavy metal. Like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Led Zepplin
・Would LOVE the band Idles, especially Never Fight A Man With A Perm
・Is strongly against the fact that Elvis stole a lot of songs from the black community. Elyan showed him Big Mama Thornton's original of Hound Dog and he nearly transcended when he listened to it
𝐄𝐥𝐲𝐚𝐧:
・Destiny Child - can sing Say My Name word for word. Literally has perfect timing.
・Loves loves loves soulful, passionate music that has a lot of history or a story behind it
・Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Stanton
・Labrinth; Yeah I Fcken Did It & All For Us
・Double Trouble by Otis Rush. I think Elyan would love the electric guitar, the saxophone, but I also think he'd be really good at playing an instrument?? I'm thinking the drums or maybe even piano. Like a headcanon that his father or mother made him learn it when he was young, and he hated it but later on in life it's useful
𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥:
・He would love movie soundtracks/scores. Like Flying with Mother by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon) and Dance of the Druids by Bear McCreary. He would have so much knowledge about movie scores that it shocks the other knights
・Tame Impala's One More Hour
・El Tango De Roxanne

DAYA RAY // POLITICAL RENDEZVOUS
Daya arrives on the arm of her husband, A-list actor Nicholas Stanton, in a custom leather and silk dress. Nick has been loudly vocal about his support of Julian Berkeley's bid for the presidency, and would never miss a chance to enjoy a little bit of the spotlight. Daya stays close by his side with a demure smile, but feeling incredibly out of place.

1980s Horror Film Character Names
I totally forgot I’d started making this last year! I think I never posted it because I wanted to find more names, but there’s already a decent amount and I don’t feel like being that tedious about names right now lol.
It’s first & last names (separated for mix & match potential) of characters from iconic late 1970s & 1980s horror movies. I think I started looking for cheesier B-movies to pull from, but yeah it’s been a whole year so I forget.
First Names

Good capture of Halloween! This was filmed on the aisle so you can see some people getting up and walking around at times. LOTS of latecomers during ready set I had to get up to let people into the row, so there is no video there. The guy in front of me wouldn't stop moving so his head can come in and out of frame at times but it's always worked around.
