I want to write a novel with a largely POC cast, and I'm looking for opinions and feedback before writing the first draft.
The main poc identities that I'm looking for feedback and input on are:
Native American/Indigenous Americans
Black Americans
Japanese Americans (or immigrants to America)
Muslim Americans or Muslims who live in America, especially of Middle Eastern ancestry
If you aren't part of these cultures but still want to see your culture represented, I want to hear it. There may or may not be space for a character in the draft, but I will write down anything you say for future works too.
I want to write a. urban fantasy novel about queer werewolves and fae (with a diverse cast of both supernatural and human characters) but as a half-white, half-Latina author living in the USA I want some input on what you as a POC person would like to see more or less of in fiction. I want to hear about your culture and the type of characteristics that you do or definitely DO NOT want to see in a fictional character. I'm apprehensive about giving animalistic traits (because werewolves) to POC characters since in the USA there is a long history of propaganda giving such traits to people of color to dehumanize them, so I would like to primarily discuss what exactly I'm thinking for that and why, and if you're okay with the way I want to write it, if you want to set some boundaries, or if it's a hard no.
I mainly use DMs on Tumblr, but I also use Twitter DMs and I made a Discord account specifically for this. Mind you, I don't know how to use Discord so you'll probably need to explain it to me first. Thank you!

A fun little character sheet to celebrate 100k, featuring stats and dialogue yet to appear in the published work! Thanks for sticking around so far, and I can't wait to share even more of my babies with you all!
Stick around for more from inFAMOUS: Erosion and its efforts to not only tie off the story of the Conduits, but to answer the single question everyone's been asking since Cole MacGrath zapped those on the bridge to the Warren -- why exactly do Conduits exist?

🍂🍃 After watching “Peter Pan & Wendy” on Disney+, I thought that I should also watch Universal’s live-action “Peter Pan” from 2003 on Netflix. I either saw this in the theater when it came out when I was maybe eight or nine years old or saw it for the first time on VHS or on DVD. Ben and I watched this movie a few nights ago, but I decided to watch a little bit of it this afternoon and revisit this particular scene. I gravitate more towards Tiger Lily‘s character in this movie and the Disney remake whenever I am experimenting with my own interpretation of the character. Other than that, this is my favorite scene in the movie.

Even knowing ahead of time that comics released around 1940s-1980s were very racist towards Native Americans, nothing will ever prepare you for just how absurdly racist those stories are until you read them.
This mostly stems from the fact that, during that era, Natives weren't even seen as human by a disturbing number of people, and things have only barely gotten better.
But still, damn. I was not prepared for how bad it was until I stumbled upon a page from a 50s comic because I thought a character was neat. Holy fuck.

When it comes to textured hair there’s many styles, here some I’ve seen at powwows. Braided locs have to be my favorite style so far 💖
(Edit)- i didn’t communicate this very well but this is a merging of cultures. Culturally/traditionally no we didn’t have cornrows/locs these are black hairstyles, and then mixed with our hairstyles because of the influence of Afro indigenous people (the two braids)💖 having two braids for some regalia is very important and so these are hairstyles I’ve seen Afro natives wear for powwows. Not saying two pigtails are just a native thing but cultural context is important

Reminder braids are not a universal hairstyle between tribes! I’m coming from the perspective of Great Plains tribes. I just thought I might share what braided hair means to my community and people. I see people trying to make ocs or redesigns of characters who are native but don’t actually represent us too good. Reminder to always research a tribe before making a character learn their protocols and at least try to learn something new! 🌸💖🍇

I just wanna say I love our hair! It means so much to us please take care of it🥺💖

Today’s Native/Indigenous Character is Kahhori from the upcoming Season 2 of Marvel’s What If?
Kahhori is of the Mohawk Tribe from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
RIP Joanne Shenandoah, who worked hard to get this character made. I don’t care if season 2 ever comes out, i love Kahhori.

on the point of including black people in the show (or any period show), a lot of the outrage can sometimes come across as performative to me. it's one thing to feel upset about how little screentime black characters get compared to white characters (a valid criticism, believe me, I Know! give me an hour and i could talk your ear off about how this constantly annoys me as a black person who's damned to enjoy period pieces), but it's another to Only get upset while not actually creating content for said black characters, Especially when fandom (not just hbo war, but in general) is famous for taking Extremely minor characters and creating entire worlds with them, to the point where you wouldn't know they're minor characters at all until you check out the source yourself. richard macon, alexander jefferson, and robert daniels each have only 20 or less posts about them (at the time of publishing this post). in my own fandom experience (within fandoms both big and small and old and new, whatever), i've seen more content (posts, art pieces, analyses, fics, etc) made for minor white characters in less than a mere week's time (it's not a competiton lol i'm just giving a perspective here). so idk. obviously, there's nothing anyone here can do about a show that's already been filmed and released. we got what we got. thas it. at least in the great wide world of fandom, you can actually do something about it, turning the big into small. there's precedent for that. otherwise it just feels like complaining for the sake of complaining

Someone also linked to a thread which claimed comradecamgirl is actually a white lady pretending to be a Native, with a Native dude fetish. Absolutely no evidence provided, and she could be a white-looking Native, so I’m only mentioning it without endorsing it.
But I wouldn’t exactly be shocked.
Also, CCG apparently deleted the account or got banned.
