National Banana Lovers Day
Today we celebrate the banana—the most popular fruit in the United  States and around the world. The average person eats about 100 of them a  year, which comes out to about 25 to 33 pounds worth. They are the  cheapest fruit and are also one of the most perishable. They may appear  to grow on trees, but they actually grow on plants that have 10 to 20  feet high trunks. The banana plant is an herb—the largest herb plant,  actually—and bananas are its fruit. The plant grows in the tropics.
Each banana is about 100 calories and is high in fiber and potassium,  which are good for treating high blood pressure, ulcers, calcium loss,  and some cancers. Bananas are also a good source of manganese, vitamin  B6, and vitamin C. There are over 1,000 varieties of bananas, but the  kind most eaten in the United States is the Cavendish. The Gros Michel  was once the most commonly eaten, but in the 1950s it fell victim to a  fungus that causes Panama disease, so farmers had to switch to the  Cavendish.
Bananas are the oldest cultivated fruit and likely were first  domesticated in Southeast Asia. Centuries later, shortly after Europeans  arrived in the Western Hemisphere, they were brought from the Canary  Islands to Hispaniola. They then spread to other islands, before making  it to the mainland. They didn't become widespread in the United States  until the end of the nineteenth century. They were so popular in  American cities in the early twentieth century that banana peels on the  ground became a nuisance and an issue that had to be dealt with. This  led to the gag of slipping on banana peels, which was frequently  featured in early movies.
Bananas were popularized in part by the United Fruit Company, which  was founded in the late nineteenth century, and is now known as  Chiquita. They encouraged people to eat bananas with milk and corn  flakes, and they put out banana recipe books until the end of the 1950s.  The books oftentimes contained adventurous recipes and aimed to get  people to eat bananas at every meal. They cast the banana not only as  something sweet but also as something similar to a vegetable, like a  potato. One example of a recipe from the book is ham banana rolls with  cheese sauce. Nowadays, bananas are still eaten in many different ways.  Besides being enjoyed plain, they may be fried, may be included in  sandwiches, and may be used in pies, puddings, muffins, breads, and  cakes—among other things. On National Banana Lovers Day, the sky's the  limit as to what can be done with them!
How to Observe National Banana Lovers Day
You should be eating as many bananas and foods made with bananas as possible today. While doing so, perhaps you could read Banana: The Fate of the Fruit That Changed the World. You could pick up an old United Fruit/Chiquita recipe book to help you decide what to eat, but we have also put together some recipe ideas for you here as well:
Elvis Presley's fried peanut butter and banana sandwich
Grilled banana s'mores
Fried sweet bananas
Honey-rum grilled bananas
Eat bananas with corn flakes and milk, just as United Fruit once encouraged everyone to do.
Try bananas in milk, with a little bit of sugar and a few drops of vanilla extract.
Banana bread
Banana muffins
Banana cake
Banana split
Banana cream pie
Banana pudding
Banana cocktails
Banana smoothies
Make some matooke, which is the most popular banana dish in the world and from Uganda.
Make Bananas Foster, a New Orleans specialty.
Make the original United Fruit ham banana rolls with cheese sauce!!!

I HAVENT EVEN STARTED DAY 29 OF FEBUWHUMP AND ITS MARCH
Alr it’s march now which means…………
NATIONAL PENUT BUTTER LOVER’S DAY.
So here is what I think the chain’s favorite penut butter combos will be:
Time: smoothie with peanut butter, banana, and Lon Lon milk. Go to breakfast when with Malon. He will always want to savor it because he loves it so much but then like 2 hours later it is room temperature pretty much melted (?) and he only got halfway done. At that point Wind would probably steal the glass and chug it just to annoy him
Twilight: peanut butter on almost burnt toast, he toasted it too high one time and now absolutely loves it. Everyone judges him for eating burnt toast and is not convinced he actually likes it but generally does. Bonus points if it’s smooth peanut butter.
Sky: allergic to peanuts will eat it if someone makes it for him because he can’t say no but typically doesn’t eat it for obvious reasons. Surprised he’s still alive
Warriors: will take a slice of plain bread, not toasted, coat it with three times the amount of peanut butter and stuff it down in 0.2 seconds flat as he is used to not having enough time to sit down for a meal ( :( )
Legend: Makes the sandwiches but never eats them. He will only ever eat chunky peanut butter if it is smooth he will hate you. It is also 80% jelly and only 20% peanut butter because it’s “spicy”.
Hyrule: peanut butter and dirt mud pies. No other comment.
Wild: will spend 12 consecutive hours in the kitchen making a perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich with homemade pb and same with jelly. Will get bread from Malon, toast it just right, butter it, and assemble it in the perfect format… only to accidentally drop it on the ground (we all know he’ll still eat it anyway)
Four: He needs structure, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich has to be perfect, a nice layer of smooth peanut butter, with a thin layer of the crunchy stuff on top. He also adds some almond’s for ✨aesthetic✨ he also uses the strawberry jelly that comes in those little packet things.
Wind: If he is not chugging Time’s old have drunken smoothie, he will legitimately reach into the peanut butter jar and scoop HANDFULS out. No spoon. Everyone hates him for it because he literally contaminates the jar for everybody but he does it anyway. Oh if he is “buying” his own peanut butter it’s probably stolen.
Ok I completely approve of Legends peanut butter to jelly ratio😌😌 especially if it's home made jam MMM. Delish
Any time I make a smoothie like Time I also usually only end up drinking half🥲 I wish I had a Wind around to steal the remains 😂
What's your favorite way to eat peanut butter Blare?? I usually eat a spoon of it alone🤗 no bread or sugar for me😭 (I'm on a diet LOL)

Alan Arkin, who has died aged 89, was a star at the beginning of his career and a beloved character actor until the end. Though best known for comedies, most notably Catch-22 (1970) and Little Miss Sunshine (2006), lightness was not necessarily his forte; even at his funniest, he exuded gravitas. “I’ve studied acting seriously,” he said in 1982. “I’m not the clown who wants to be Hamlet or anything like that. I just think that regarding oneself as comic means that one’s primary obligation is to get laughs.”
He could be a prickly figure. “Alan does not meet you halfway as an actor,” said the writer-director Marshall Brickman, who cast him as a brainwashed scientist in the science-fiction comedy Simon (1980). “He’s a very serious actor. I think he’s brilliant. But he’s not interested in winning you over via personality. The way he photographs has a kind of austerity that’s a little hard for an audience to take. You either like Alan or you don’t.” The Oscar Arkin won for playing a heroin-snorting grandfather in Little Miss Sunshine ratified his status as a US national treasure.
Arkin was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Beatrice (nee Wortis) and David Arkin, both schoolteachers. As a child, he attended acting classes. The family moved to Los Angeles when Alan was 11, but trouble befell the family when David was accused of communist affiliations (disproved posthumously) during the McCarthy era.
Alan studied acting at Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences (now California State University, Los Angeles) before transferring to Bennington College, Vermont. In 1955, he married Jeremy Yaffe, and became active in the folk music scene. Along with fellow members of his group, the Tarriers, he was credited as co-writer of The Banana Boat Song (Day-O), an adaptation of a Jamaican folk standard. (A different version was a hit for Harry Belafonte.)
After an inauspicious film debut with the Tarriers in Calypso Heat Wave (1957), he threw in his lot with acting. He made his off-Broadway debut in the late 1950s and joined the Chicago improvisational group the Compass Players in 1959. This led to a stint with the Chicago improv troupe Second City and his Broadway debut, in 1961, in the company’s show From the Second City, which he co-wrote.
Arkin did not forgo folk music entirely: he formed the children’s group the Babysitters, which also featured Yaffe until their divorce. The band was later joined by his second wife, the actor and writer Barbara Dana, whom he married in 1964.
He left Second City after landing the lead on Broadway in a 1963 production, Enter Laughing, for which he won a Tony award. In the same year, he wrote, scored and starred in the Oscar-nominated short film That’s Me. Norman Jewison gave him his first major film role in The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming (1966), a comic take on cold war paranoia. Arkin received an Oscar nomination for his performance as a lieutenant on a Soviet submarine that runs aground in New England.
His range was indisputable. Comparisons to Peter Sellers abounded even before Arkin took the title role in the misguided, off-piste comedy Inspector Clouseau (1968). He accepted a rare villainous part in Wait Until Dark (1967), terrorising a blind Audrey Hepburn. In the same year, he played one of Shirley MacLaine’s lovers in Vittorio de Sica’s portmanteau film Woman Times Seven. He won a second Oscar nomination for playing a deaf man in The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1968), adapted from the novel by Carson McCullers, and starred as a Puerto Rican widower raising his children in Popi (1969).
His landmark role came when he was cast as the anxious bombardier Yossarian in Mike Nichols’s film of Joseph Heller’s Catch-22. The New York Times critic Vincent Canby summed up Arkin’s appeal: “[He] is not a comedian; he is a deadly serious actor, but because he projects intelligence with such monomaniacal intensity, he is both funny and heroic at the same time.” The eight-month shoot was an arduous experience for the actor. “If they had shot footage of the making of the film,” he said, “it would’ve been a hell of a lot closer to the book than the movie was.”
Arkin had already directed several shorts when he embarked on his full-length directing debut, an adaptation of Jules Feiffer’s blackly comic play Little Murders (1971), set in a fractured and hostile New York City. The film’s critical reputation has grown steadily along with that of Arkin’s follow-up, Fire Sale (1977). Both pictures exhibit an acidic, rueful comic tone consistent with the mood of 1970s independent cinema.
In the same decade, Arkin played a long-distance truck driver in Deadhead Miles (1972), scripted by Terrence Malick; unsure how to market this eccentric road movie, Paramount shelved it, though it has surfaced occasionally on television. He teamed up with James Caan in the action comedy Freebie and the Bean (1974), with Peter Falk in The In-Laws (1979) and with Jeff Bridges in the 1930s-set Hearts of the West (1975). In The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1977), he played Sigmund Freud, who welcomes Sherlock Holmes (Nicol Williamson) as a patient. He was a washed-up superhero in the Australian musical comedy The Return of Captain Invincible (1983) and a concentration camp prisoner in Escape from Sobibor (1987).
During the 1990s, Arkin’s movie career began its second flourishing. He specialised in sympathetic father figures in Coupe de Ville and Edward Scissorhands (both 1990) and Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), and played a desperate salesman in Glengarry Glen Ross (1992), the film of David Mamet’s play. He was also memorable as an assassin’s psychiatrist in Grosse Pointe Blank (1997). An acclaimed performance as a troubled insurance manager in Thirteen Conversations About One Thing (2001) attracted further awards.
The independent smash Little Miss Sunshine exploited Arkin’s contradictory qualities of coarseness and warmth. After that, most of his films felt minor: in 2008 he delivered another beneficent father routine in Sunshine Cleaning and a helping of spy antics in Get Smart, and was a twinkly editor in the family hit Marley & Me. More challenging was Rebecca Miller’s drama The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), in which Arkin played a man married to a woman 30 years his junior. His fond portrayal of a grizzled movie producer in Argo (2012), Ben Affleck’s thriller set during the Iran hostage crisis, was hugely admired and was nominated for a best supporting actor Oscar.
He starred with Al Pacino and Christopher Walken as ageing crooks reuniting for one last job in Stand Up Guys (2012), and with Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman as retirees who plot to rob a bank after losing their pensions in Going in Style (2017). He was also in Tim Burton’s live-action remake of Dumbo (2019) and played a Hollywood agent in the Netflix series The Kominsky Method (2019) with Michael Douglas.
In 2020, he published Out of My Mind, which detailed his 20-year friendship with his spiritual mentor John Battista, though Battista’s full name is not mentioned in the book, nor his fall from grace (Battista was charged with the sexual abuse of several women and one girl) and suicide. The scandal caused a kind of paralysis in Arkin for six months, he told the Guardian in 2020. “But I doggedly went on and I’m glad that I did.”
He is survived by his third wife, Suzanne Newlander, whom he married in 1996, two sons, Adam and Matthew, from his first marriage, and a son, Anthony, from his second marriage.

Back to the magicbaker!reader headcanons in Inazuma, but this time with Ayato. The news of a new bakery opening up gets to the Kamisato commissioner and he asks Thoma to go get them some treats and drinks from the new place. He returns with a wide assortment of baked goods and a few selections of brewed tea and coffee (cause you know Thoma wouldn't be able to go into a bakery and not buy every single thing to try like the house husband he is). How did he carry it all back? A maid never reveals his tricks.
Anyways, he brings the treats to Ayato's office, who is hunched over piles of paperwork, stressed. Thoma hands him a scone made to relieve anxiety, a relaxing potion mixed into the recipe created with rare mood inducing herbs and spices you've learned to grow after traveling the world with your dendro vision. Ayato takes one bit and immediately his stressed, wrinkle inducing face turns into a relieved smile. He takes a sip of one of the teas, Laughter, and he giggles a bit, much to Thoma's surprise after seeing him so focused on the mass amount of work that was laid out for the day.
They share the treats, both feeling the different emotions expertly mixed into the recipes, impressed by this seemly impossible feat. Finally, they get to the final sugary treat, a slice of banana nut loaf with a heart outlined in the center of the soft bread. They split the treat and affection immediately fills their veins. The treats intended feeling seeps into their brains, Love.
Now, Thoma has known what love feels like. He feels it every day towards his friends, his dogs, even towards his job he so dedicatedly works. He is reminded of someone he use to know in Mondstat, a lovely person whom he shared an unbreakable bond with. Happy memories fill his mind and he leans back on his chair with a smile.
But Ayato is different. While he feels the same love Thoma does for his friends and his sister, unlike his handler he hasn't had the luxury of finding a person who he can love to the fullest extent. His schedule is jam packed with political nonsense that was forced on him at a young age. To put it simply, Ayato has never been in love.
However, when he takes a bite of the bread, an overwhelmingly warm feeling squeezes his heart. He feels amazing, yet a soft nagging in the back of his head tells him this isn't something he's felt before. This is something he's been missing out on his whole life.
When the feeling disperse after a few minutes, Ayato is left with a sour feeling. How did he let this happen? How did his life become so focused on making everyone, his nation, his Shogun happy, but why can't he be happy? He puts on a smile every day, creates mischief in his position with his backhanded comments and borderline traitorous actions towards the other political parties in Inazuma. But why don't they make him happy?
After that day, the commissioner's smile becomes more stained. He's more irritable, more aware of how he's feeling and what his life lacks. He confides in Thoma, asking him if that treat is truly what love feels like. Thoma is taken aback by this question, but provides an answer anyway. He says love is a bittersweet feeling. While it can feel amazing, uncontrollable circumstances can turn it into a feeling similar to torture. He opens up to Ayato about his past Mondstat lover who he left behind to come to Inazuma. Having to leave felt like his heart was being ripped out and smashed into pieces, but the beautiful memories never let him forget of his love for this person.
After hearing this, Ayato couldn't stop thinking about that feeling, so he seeks it out again. Next time he has free time, he asks Thoma to escort him to the new bakery so he can buy another slice of love.
Stares always follow Ayato when he walks through the town, but the citizens can see the underlying scowl that he is always desperate to hide from their prying eyes. It's not an angry scowl, evident in the sad look his eyes convey.
They arrive at the bakery, a humble building decorated with colorful, vibrant flowers that you've created. Tables sit on the outside filled with patrons eating delicious treats, giggling, smiling, some even getting in a good cry while drinking your sadness cold brew. It's a shocking thing to see, so many strangers sharing their emotions and not caring who see.
Entering the bakery, anyone would normally notice the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen and the displayed treats, but Ayato can only focus on the person behind the counter. You.
You're looking a mess, having just opened shop a few days ago and already becoming the most popular hang out spot in Inazuma. Word of your creations have reached the surrounding islands already, bringing in more customers than you had ever imagined. In just a few days, it seems like you've already sold out of many of your treats and have had to work long nights and early mornings to restock your shelves.
The chatting that filled the air became quieter as the commissioner walks in, all eyes focused on him while he stands in the doorway staring at you. You notice the silence and look up from packaging your current order, locking eyes with the blue haired man. The feeling he gets in his chest is confusing, like the air has been knocked out of him and all he can do is stare. You're the most beautiful person he's ever seen.
Thoma takes notice of Ayato's hesitation and pulls him to the displays, relieving the situation and bringing the chatter back from the patrons finally looking away from the blushing commissioner.
You great them as any other customer after you notice the way Ayato is reacting, wanting to make him feel welcome. To you, even if he is one of the highest, most powerful political figures in all of Inazuma, you want him to feel comfortable. You want him to feel like a normal person for once.
Ayato clears his throat and pushes through the overwhelming feelings. He greets you and strikes up a conversation, his smooth voice aiding in distracting you from his shifting figure and slightly red cheeks. He asks about your baking process, how you put the feelings into your treats, and you happily share with him how you discovered this amazing ability. He's enthralled by your conversation and your sweet attitude.
After a few minutes of chatting, Ayato orders his and Thoma's treats. He pays triple the price and tells you to keep the change. They go to sit at one of the tables in the corner. Thoma takes the chance to tease the commissioner, having never seen him give anyone that kind of look before. In return, Ayato uses his vision to splash a little water on the blonde shutting him up. He burst out in a full belly laugh after seeing the look on Thoma's face.
You hear the laugh and look up from preparing their treats. Ayato's head is thrown back and a giant smile is on his face. A mischievous glimmer is in his eyes, the complete opposite of the sad hint you saw when you first looked at him. Smiling to yourself, you plate their order, pour their drinks, and walk them to their table. Setting the treats and drinks down in front of the two men, they both thank you and your gaze holds Ayato's a little longer than expected. You make your way back behind the counter with a blush adorning your cheeks, not going unnoticed by Thoma.
Ayato takes a bite of his slice of love, that same feeling he's been obsessing over finally fills his body, but it's different his time. He can't help but notice that little nagging voice in his head is gone. Instead, he is able to feel the full effect of the treat without second guessing himself. Without feeling down on himself.
He steals a glance towards you, but holds his gaze when he sees you looking back. The warm feeling triples in his chest when you give him a loving smile. His face goes as red as a tomato, breaking the eye contact you were sharing making you giggle.
This definitely doesn't go unnoticed by Thoma, who has a shit eating grin on his face. He knew Ayato and what kind of person he needed to fall in love with, he also knew you after being the one to convince you to set up shop in Inazuma City after meeting you in Mondstat years ago on your journey to explore different herbs and spices. Your loving and fun personality fit well with Ayato's mischievous one.
Thoma made a mental note to bring Ayato to the bakery every chance he got.

Indian curry restaurant in Perth
Indian food incorporates various cooking styles from India and its adjoining places. They utilize various flavors, spices, vegetables, and organic products to make remarkable dishes. Numerous famous Indian eateries these days are family-claimed or original foundations. At the point when you are new to this cooking, it means quite a bit to understand what sort of food to arrange. The following are a couple of updates on what to purchase in an Indian eatery:
Know What to Eat
Indian food has various flavors, sauces, and marinated meat and vegetables. Its impact came from various nations, like China, Persia, Portugal, and England. The Indian religion, which is Buddhism, additionally influences food decisions so the majority of them lean toward eating vegetables than meat.
- Tidbits - Most Indian hors d'oeuvres are broiled baked goods with cream soups and crude vegetable plates of mixed greens. They frequently serve it with sauces, like a chutney or yogurt, to adjust the zesty flavor. The most popular hors d'oeuvre is the samosa, a broiled baked good with blended vegetables, meat, and flavors inside a mixture. Another well known cake is a pakora, which is like samosa. The main distinction is that individuals fry it without stuffing the fixings inside the batter.
- Drinks - Indian beverages are sweet to supplement the fiery taste of their food. A great many people favor requesting a lassi, a sweet yogurt-based shake. A sweet beverage, as panakam, with water, sugar, ginger, and limejuice is likewise a #1 among food darlings. In the event that you are searching for cocktails, you can arrange an India Pale Ales or IPA.
- Primary Dishes - There are cafés that offer an all-veggie lover dinner for individuals who don'thttps://thecurryhut.com.au/ eat meat. There are situations when cooks convert their meat dishes with a vegetable choice to suit the client's taste. The best principal dish to arrange is a curry. This is made of meat or vegetables absorbed a yogurt or coconut-based marinade. At the point when you go to an indian eatery, the greater part of the dishes comprise of sheep, chicken, rice, or spinach.
- Sweets - Indians love sugar and milk-based treats with new natural products. Most cafés improve their puddings and frozen yogurts with organic products, like pomegranates, mangos, and bananas. One famous pudding is the kheer, which is a rice pudding with raisins, cardamom, and cinnamon.
Sauce and Spicy Food Choices
Individuals who love hot food sources go to Indian eateries since they have various degrees of heat, from gentle to extremely hot. Never pick the spicier dishes assuming you are simply beginning. Odds are good that you could abandon the food and waste your cash in the wake of having a nibble. Stick to gentle food varieties and request a spicier dish when you want to deal with it.
There is a common guideline in Indian cooking where you request a high-sauce dish with another drier food. The sauce gives a superior taste to rice dishes. You can likewise arrange a Chapati, Paratha, and Naan to adjust the drier dishes.
The rich flavors, flavors, and smooth sauces of Indian food are becoming famous to individuals all over the planet. At the point when you are searching for a scrumptious dish, an indian café is the most ideal way to go.

Q: Have you heard from Dean lately?
A: Yes, he wrote to me a few days ago and it was very Impressive.
Gotta luv a guy who isn't afraid to cry when given a balloon by a
passing clown. Someone who loves kittens and keeps several in his short
pockets at any given time. Someone who still knows why it was called
the BIG band era and who can give you the name of any dixie rag time
song after hearing just a few notes. Someone who has single handedly
funded the NAAMP (national assoc. for the advancement of mime
professionals) who's motto "A mime is a terrible thing to waste" was
penned by him. You don't get a lot of thanks from people like mimes.
Among their community his name is rarely spoken. He is an unsung hero.
Someone who fought the injustice and censorship to have the scripts for
the "Lost in Space" tv show entered into the congressional record by
lobbying congressman Sonny Bonno to use them for several Republican
fillibusters. Who painstakingly highlighted each line of dialogue by
Dr. Smith on those same transcripts for emphasis. What else can I say
about Dean? Nude bungie jumper? Ventriloquist extrodinaire?
Hemophiliac? Liver eating advocate? Survivor of Waco and can laugh
about it? A man who speaks in palidromes accidentaly? (I can remember
him saying to me, "You know John, there are *So Many Dynamos*.) A man
who can name all of the Banana Splits and can recite their biographys
with intimacy? A man who, through a single symbolic act, riveted the
worlds attention by releasing thousands of golden hamsters in Golden
Gate Park with the song "Bless the Beasts & the Children" playing in the
background. Who also endured such hardship from a law suit by the
Winchester Dog Show which was disrupted by said hamster release in the
park.
If you want to know what one thing I am hearing from Dean these days, it
would have to be this,
"Life is a stage.
Make a dramatic entrance.
Be kind to the extras, the little people.
Don't pay the actors more than union scale.
Keep your best profile forward.
Avoid overtly dramatic lighting
like the kind they use in bank commercials.
(It's really annoying.)
Touch greatness.
If you can't touch it then buy
a life size replica of greatness and touch that.
Billy Jean is not my lover.
she's just a girl that says that
I am the one but the kid is not my son.
Make a grand exit.
Make sure that when you make that exit you don't cut off anyone like
the guy I saw this morning driving to work. I got so
ticked that I grabbed the nearest thing I could get my hands
on and threw it at him. Now we'll see how he will explain all of
that
kitten blood on his windshield!"
At this point Dean stopped and stood silently for about 10 minutes and
after some grimacing he pulled a tiny golden bottle from his pocket,
carefully unsealed it, and holding it up to his right eye he shed into
it a single tear. He said "I am saving this for all those people who
can't cry." I am that person he was refering to. He gave me that bottle
and I keep it around my neck at all times.
Long live Dean. May his legacy be as long as this e-mail. (Written in 1997)

Discover What Norfolk Island is Famous For
Tumblr media
Even if you know the basic information about Norfolk Island, you may not be aware of what the island is famous for. Despite being a small island in terms of both population and geographical size, a Norfolk Island holiday goes big on memorable experiences while immersing yourself in a rich history and culture that goes back hundreds of years.
At Spacifica Travel, we offer a range of unmissable Norfolk Island holiday packages that highlight all the incredible things this small island off the coast of Australia has to offer. Let’s take a look at some of the main historical, cultural, and natural attractions that make Norfolk Island so famous.
12 Reasons to Visit Norfolk Island
Norfolk Island holidays quickly fill up with things to see and do, ensuring it is right up there with other iconic South Pacific holiday destinations. Here are twelve reasons why Norfolk Island is famous amongst travellers around the world.
Bounty Mutineers
Norfolk Island’s history is brimming with the exciting stories of how the island was inhabited in the first place. In 1787, the HMS Bounty set sail from England for the Islands of Tahiti. Only, in 1789, a mutiny occurred led by Fletcher Christian that resulted in all the mutineers living on Pitcairn Island. They lived there for several decades before deciding to relocate to Norfolk Island in 1856.
Today, you can visit the Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama on Norfolk Island to see an amazing 360 degree painting that brings to life the events of the Bounty Mutiny.
Pitcairn Settlers
After the descendants of the Bounty Mutiny decided to leave Pitcairn Island in search of more space, they arrived at Norfolk Island in the mid nineteenth century. To this day, when you holiday in Norfolk Island, you are likely to come across descendents from those initial Pitcairn Settlers, including Christians, Quintals, McCoys, and others.
To find out more about this part of Norfolk Island’s history, we recommend you pay the Pitcairn Settlers Village a visit.
Norfolk Island Pine
The moment you spot Norfolk Island from the air, the first thing your eye will be drawn to is the verdant green of the tall pine trees dotted around the island. Norfolk Island Pine is endemic to the island and can be found just about anywhere you turn. Be sure to visit Emily Bay to see Lone Pine, a solitary Norfolk Island pine standing at the entrance of the bay that is estimated to be 650 years old.
Emily Bay
No Norfolk Island travel is complete without a visit to the stunning Emily Bay. While it is the most well-known bay on the island, it often doesn’t have a lot of people there. You’ll find picture perfect sand, calm waters, pine trees, historic sites, snorkelling opportunities, glass-bottom boat tours, and even a raft floating in the middle of the bay where you can often see locals jumping into the waters.
Norfolk Island National Park
This is the place to see Norfolk Island’s unique flora and fauna. From the picturesque Botanic Garden to the historical Captain Cook Monument, you can easily spend a day exploring the park’s many walking trails and ideal spots for bird watching.
Local Cuisine
You will also come across traditional Tahitian recipes inherited from the Bounty Mutineers such as banana phili. If you’re a serious food lover, then you should also spend some time going on one of Norfolk’s many food tours, including the Farm and Industry tour, Taste of Norfolk, or the Greenfingers Tour.

169.
hello! What's your name? A.
Are you more like your mom or dad? I have similarities with both, not sure who I’m more like. Are you a lover or a fighter? A lil of both? Have you ever been in a beauty pageant? Yes, but I chickened out and didn’t show up to the actual pageant :-) What gives you butterflies in your tummy? :) Can you find happiness in small things? Yeah, I can. What keeps you awake at night D:? Anxiety. Have you ever taken a picture in a photo booth at the mall?  Yes, in like 2006. Do rainy days make you gloomy? Sometimes they do. I generally like them and find them relaxing - if I’m at home curled up in bed w/ my kitties and watching tv :)
Do you know anyone with the same birthday as you? Not anymore. When was the last time you felt you made a difference? It’s been a while. Do you really know all the words to the national anthem? Not off of the top of my head. If I’m listening to it, then yes, I can sing along and know all of the words. I just can’t sing it from memory without listening to the song at the same time. If that makes sense? Can you touch your nose with your tongue? I can. Is the glass half empty or half full (: ? Depends on my mood. Lately it has been half empty but I am trying hard to get back to seeing it as half full :) Have you ever won a trophy? Yes. Does fingernails on a chalk board give you chills up your spine? Yeah. Do you consider yourself a lucky or unlucky person? I dunno. Have you ever ate with chopsticks? Yes. Do you bite your lip? Yes. Have you ever smashed your finger in a car door? Yeah. I’ve also smashed my entire wrist in a car door. PAIN. What gives you goosebumps? When song lyrics hit deep and feel like they were written personally for/about me. Have you ever actually slipped on a banana peel? No. When was the last time you stubbed your toe? I don’t remember. Do you believe that if you want something bad enough you'll get it? If you work for it. Do you dress for style or comfort? Lately it’s been for comfort. Don't you think it looks silly when people wear socks with sandals? Yeah. What side of the bed do you sleep on? The middle. If you wake up late, is the rest of your day ruined? Sometimes it is. Where do you go when you just need to get away? Bed? Idk. Have you ever thought about moving far away & starting all over? Yes. Have you ever square danced? Yes. Can you burp the alphabet? I used to. Haven’t tried in years. Have you ever been called slow? As a joke. Have you ever worn your clothes backwards or inside out & didn't realize it? Yeah. Have you ever looked all over for something & it was in plain sight? Mhm. Would you rather be 8'2 or 3'11? 3′11″ Have you ever ran with scissors? Yeah. Do you know anyone who has read the entire bible? Yes. Have you ever lost your voice? Yeah. Have you ever hugged a stranger? I have. Have you ever apologized to someone but didn't mean it? Probably. Did your parents spoil you as a child? Somewhat. Do you believe opposites attract? They can. Have you ever got gum stuck in your hair? Yes. Do you give out second chances too easily? Sometimes. Do you believe in karma? Sure. Have you ever raked up a pile of leaves & then jumped in it? Maybe as a kid. Have you ever done something just because everyone else is doing it? Yeah. Do you feel all fuzzy and good when you do a good deed? Sure. Would you say you have an infectious laugh? No. I don’t know. Do you keep birthday cards or throw them out? Keep. Would you consider yourself a leader or a follower? Follower, I guess. It depends. Are you an adrenaline junkie? No.
