In honour of that new Vampire Academy television show being released publicly for the 1st time ever this week, I felt like posting some of my photos from the Vampire Academy movie premiere pink carpet in Sydney, Australia, from when I was 16 and left school early to go and wait and line up and meet Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Sarah Hyland for the 1st time ever. I was the 1st person there and waited for hours, with my Vampire Academy book. I’m not sure if I ever posted these photos on tumblr before rn. So Vampire Academy premiered today on Peacock and, as someone who loves the books and recently reread them for this day, I'm pissed.

Spoiler warning here: books and tv series

They really threw the books out the window and it was a very bad decision.

1st, what is with the wannabe classic vampire style? Why do the royals dress like 19th century vampires when the girls literally talk about their clothes being for Target, Forever 21, and GAP. I think the movie did better with balancing the gothic building and modern clothes.

Lissa and Rose start the series as seniors! As in, Lissa is a senior when her family dies.

Who TF is the 1st queen? Well, actually I know. The series starts with the queen before Tatiana.

On the topic of Tatiana, she is is her 20s and has ssx with Andre the night he dies!

Oh, and Andre is openly dating and planning to marry Mia...

Lissa has a coronation as head of the Dragomir family too

Before which, she has to learn to recite something in "old moroi" which is when she meets and starts getting along with Christian

Victor Dashkov doesn't look sick at all. He's literally supposed to be dying, which is why he kidnaps Lissa in the 1st book

Natalie, Victor Dashkov's daughter, doesn't exist!

But don't worry, Victor has 2 daughters now: Sonya Karp and Mia Ranaldi who is apparently a Karp now but still non-royal as the daughter of a royal moroi????

Lissa apparently doesn't know about her and Rose's psychic bond?

Lissa burns in sunlight (don't even get me started on this) instead of cutting

Lissa and Rose NEVER RUN AWAY

Meaning Lissa never feeds off Rose

Meaning the Psy Hounds don't attack them

Meaning Lissa still doesn't use her compulsion to live life

Meaning Dimitri never hunted them down! He just randomly appeared after Lissa's family died

Rose has an accent meaning she can't make fun of Dimitri by calling him "cheap foriegn labor" like she does in the book

Also, Demitri is Irish? So wtf is gonna happen when he gets turned strigoi and runs off? Will he not be a Russian Strigoi mob boss? What about his family is the dhampir village?

And Dimitri isn't even that attractive. Or tall. Or have a ponytail. Or wear his signature cowboy duster, which is the worst of it.

AND THEIR FUCKING DORMS Lissa and Rose live together in the Moroi dorms????

Then, Rose gets moved to the dhampir dorms that look like the barracks from Divergent. No walls. No dividers between beds. Nothing!

And the moroi dorms are huge and the windows aren't tinted which is ridiculous considering they decided the moroi can't be in the sunlight.

Mia and Lissa share a room, which sets it up for Mia to be planting the dead animals even though Sonya will definitely be the one turning strigoi to help Victor.

If they're roommate and Mia's dad ks Victor, there's no way they get the severe rivalry of the books.

And wtf is with the Dhampir rankings thing? Is Meridith going to be important now? She was mentioned, like, once in the books.

Holy fuck! I almost forgot the weird feeder thing! The feeders aren't in private cubicles by the dining hall, they're in the basement in one big room with red velvet couches and, once again, no dividers between people. And the feeding scenes are fucking weird.

Y'all, I haven't even finished the pilot. It's so much different from the books that it could almost be it's own thing.

something underdiscussed about mia’s storyline is how she’s supposed to be a combo of mia rinaldi and natalie dashkov. she’s victor’s daughter and sonya’s sister, so she has a different understanding of lissa and even rose than book mia did. she was who lissa first used compulsion on, and she saw lissa heal dean in ep 5. she also knows about spirit because of sonya, so she would recognize lissa’s abilities in the way natalie did.

considering her father is dying, her sister is about to/will go over the edge, and her developing relationship with meredith, her priorities of being a royal are going out the window. it’s likely the natalie side of mia will come out when things reach a head with victor and sonya. i doubt they’ll make both karp girls turn strigoi, especially since mia karp is a lot more level-headed (and less desperate for victor’s attention) than natalie. however, i’ll be watching mia and her actions closely throughout the next five episodes. something tells me she’ll be the catalyst for when everything goes wrong leading up to the finale.

Hi, sorry if these are dumb questions. But what happen to Natalie Dashkov in the vampire academy series? Also are Mia and Sonya sisters whose father is Victor Dashkov ? In the VA series Victor seems to be playing the father figure of both of them. This just bit confusing for me. Do you mind clear this up.

It's not a dumb question. Natalie won't be in the tv show(as far as the creators have told us so far). I think Julie talked about how Mia is a mix of both Mia and Natalie. And Mia and Sonya are Victor adopted daughters.

Vampires Academy keeps it going...

Well. I've made it past episode 3....barely. I'm at the point where I keep watching because I want to see how much more they can screw a tv series up based on a book that's fairly straight forward in the writing.

Don't get me wrong. The acting is good and everything but they're putting everything out of order from what I remember. Like for instance they're already talking about the quorum...like as far as I remember that doesn't happen till the end of the book series when they are at court after school....

And also after watching this far I'm realizing that there is no Natalie Dashkov. Like if you didn't read the books then you wouldn't realize how important she is but in the end of the very first book 'Vampire Academy' she's actually a key person in what's happens behind the scenes for everything.

Also Mia and Sonya aren't supposed to be related. Mia is supposed to be Mia Rinaldi not Mia Karp. In the book those two had no interactions with each other what so ever! Like Mia is supposed to be her enemy in school. The only part they got right about Mia was her getting screwed over by Andre, Lissa's brother when he was still alive.

I got 2 more episodes to go before I'm caught up on peacock folks. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the chance to watching them.

Those boulders blocking Lissa’s exit in that car were clearly done by Viktor trying to test her abilities. Those boulders perfectly blocking their path and then again those other boulders falling exactly at the right moment to block their exit, too, with Strigoi just happening to be in that tunnel (I think during daylight) randomly. An Earth magic user, like Viktor, did that. Like how in the Vampire Academy books, Viktor would do things to try to get Lissa to use her abilities to see if she could and how powerful and useful she could be to him, with the help of his daughter, Natalie. Totally not a coincidence that Mia saw Lissa heal and then in the literal next episode, Lissa’s forced into a situation where she attempts to heal somebody.

Totally not an aroace headcanon born purely out of arrow puns. I mean. This man's entire color scheme is purple. This is impossible not to headcanon, right?

I see him as biromantic asexual, and specifically sex averse so he can be very tired of his sex positive partner (be it Loki or Sylvie, or B-15) constantly telling him about their conquests.

3. Luna Lovegood

I am not very into HP but I love the Harry/Luna ship and just. She seems like an ace vibe, idk. She's either ace or HELLA kinky. She may be both.
