Of a toddler and Loki's sanity
Warnings: Reader uses she/her, but since she is crossdressing, the guys use he/him on her. Requests are open
⚽️Blue Lock belongs to Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura ⚽️
🌱🩷: Ngl, I had so much fun writing these. Writing about toddler Blue Lock is very relaxing
Ego was pretty much at his wits end. If it wasn't for the few Blue Lock members who gave him hope that Japan will win the World cup, he would have left the job.
"Shut up already." Ego groaned as the 2 years old Charles started crying more and more. Loki had found the boy this morning and brought him to the office. He left the other French boy just for 10 minutes to look for a toy, and already chaos has started.
"Anri, please shut him up!" The woman groaned as she tried to look for something to pacify the toddler. There was nothing she could find.
"I am trying, Ego. But, we threw everything out after (Y/n) turned normal a few weeks ago." Anri argued back, only to realize the French boy had stopped crying.
"Huh?" Ego raised an eyebrow as he watched Charles blink at Anri for a few moments and then looked around the room.
"(Y/n)... (Y/n)..."
"Huh? That calmed him down?" Anri raised an eyebrow, moving closer to where Charles was. Ego was intrigued as well since the French player and (Y/n) didn't have many interactions to warrant this reaction.
"(Y/n)?" Anri repeated the name, only to watch Charles grin and nod his head.
"Do you want to see he-him! Do you want to see him?" Anri asked, quickly correcting herself.
"This is off..." Ego wondered as Loki finally came into the room, looking nervously at the adults.
"Found the item..." Loki gulped, handing Charles the plush toy.
"(Y/n)..." Charles giggled, hugging the plush version of (Y/n).
"Loki... where did you find that item?" Ego eyed the French player suspiciously.
"That's not important. Can we first focus on Charles and keeping him away from... you know who." Loki begged as he eyed the plushie Charles was busy playing with. Anri and Ego were a little spooked by everything, but nodded their heads. There wasn't much they could do, anyway.
"Sure..."
Well, keeping Charles away from (Y/n) proved to be a task since today of all days she came to practice with Shidou, Rin, Tokimitsu, and Karasu. Loki felt like the universe hated him by now as he watched Karasu and Shidou argue over something, and (Y/n) standing to the side. Loki thankfully didn't fully open the door, so Charles didn't see the (h/c)-haired girl.
"Hm?" The French toddler blinked at Loki, wondering why they didn't enter the room like planned.
"It's nothing.... let's do something else. I have a TV in my room, we can watch some cartoons." Loki smiled nervously as Charles quickly nodded his head. The captain thought that finally luck was on his side, until Karasu and Shidou decided to yell.
"Shut up, you maniac! (Y/n) will be in my team!"
"And I said Goodie two shoes will be my partner, Crow head!"
'Karasu and Shidou... I will make your lives a living hell.' Loki groaned as he saw Charles turn back to the door.
"(Y/n)..."
"You two, please stop arguing. Loki-san already works hard enough, he doesn't need to stop unnecessary fights as well." (Y/n) spoke up softly. The words caused Loki to let out a sigh of relief, at least someone cared.
'Why couldn't he be in my team instead?'Loki groaned as he picked Charles up, noticing the way his eyes widened.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)-" The midfielder started yelling, but before he could finish another word, Loki took off with him.
"I hate this job sometimes."
It took Loki a good hour to calm Charles down, but after coaxing the boy with cartoons, it eventually worked out.
"I am exhausted.... and it's only 14 o'clock..." The coach of the French stratum groaned to himself, glancing at Charles, who was immersed with some random cartoon that was running on the TV.
"At least he calmed down." Loki smiled softly when a knock was heard.
'Shit...' The boy gulped and slowly got up to the door, making sure not to catch Charles' attention.
"Yes?" Loki asked as he opened his door a little, sighing in relief when he saw it was Tokimitsu.
"Loki-san, the guys and I want to go eat lunch. (Y/n) thought we should invite you as well."
Loki was surprised that someone thought of him joining, especially someone from another team, but he was flattered.
"Oh.. uhm, thanks. But I can't. I am really not hungry." The coach answered, glancing at the distracted Charles.
"Are you sure? You shouldn't skip meals." Tokimitsu said in worry.
"I am not hungry now. Don't worry, ok?" Loki smiled reassuringly, and after a few more minutes Tokimitsu left him alone. Loki closed the door after and loomed back at Charles, who was looking back in confusion.
"Don't worry about it." He smiled, waving his hand.
"Loki-san, are you in there?"
'I knew this was too easy!' Loki cried inwardly as he heard (Y/n)'s voice and her knocking.
"I-I-"
"(Y/n)!!!" Charles yelled as he heard the other midfielder's voice, running towards the door.
"No! Charles!! Come back!" Loki yelled at the boy, who tried to open the door.
"Is that a kid inside? Is everything alright?" (Y/n)'s worried tone made Loki feel guilty as he grabbed onto Charles, pulling him away from the door.
'This toddler weights a ton!'
"I am coming in." (Y/n) warned as she slowly opened the door.
"Shit..." Loki mumbled as the girl walked in slowly, holding a tray of food in her hands.
"I brought you some lunch, in case you are hungry- Who is the kid?" (Y/n)'s eyes slowly widened as she saw Charles, who tried to fight himself out of Loki's grip.
"(Y/n)! (Y/n)! (Y/n)!" Charles chanted with a grin as Loki gulped nervously. (Y/n) closed the door behind herself, looking at Loki in confusion.
"I... I can explain."
"Ok.... Is that a plushie of me?" (Y/n) wondered, noticing the item on the ground.
"I can't explain that."
"So... you have to babysit that bray now?" Kaiser asked in a displeased tone, watching as Charles cuddled up to the girl on the bed.
"Yep." (Y/n) said simply, going through a fairytale book with Chrales.
"Does he have to sleep in your bed?" Ness groaned, trying really hard not to pull Charles away from her.
"It's just for tonight. Loki-san needs some rest." (Y/n) shrugged her shoulders, not noticing Charles sending the German duo a smirk.
'That brat! Who does he think he is?!'
'I will kick his ass on the field!'

Merlin's Champion
@arrival-layne
You asked, I delivered. Full warning, I have a bit more...uh...personal experience with drowning so that part is pretty fucked up.
Jim wiped his hand across the fog of the bathroom mirror. His own face looked back at him. The potion Merlin had given him filled the tub. He sighed and stepped up to the tub.
"Don't do this young Atlas!" Strickler's voice called through the bathroom door. Jim paused one foot on the edge of the tub. He could hear his mom calling out to him as well. Then Toby's voice. Then Claire's. They were all there, pounding on the door. Begging him not to do this. He looked at the black ooze in the tub.
They had come for him. Just like they always had. This thought brought his whirling mind to a halt. They were his family. They had always been there for him. Toby never left his side since they were kids. Claire had risked her life and soul for him. His mother had fought for him nonstop ever since his dad left them. Even Mr. Strickler had come back to Arcadia, despite the price on his head.
Jim realized in that moment, they would always come for him. Just like they came for him in the Darklands, his darkest moment. He set his foot back on the bathroom floor. They would be there for him when he faced Gunmar. They would help him face Morgana. Any trial that came they would face together.
He walked to the bathroom door, and unlocked it. His mom immediately threw open the door and wrapped him in a bone crushing hug. Walter pulled the two of them out of the bathroom with a look of disdain at the dark potion in the tub. As soon as they were out in the hallway Toby and Claire immediately joined the hug. Strickler put his hand on Jim's shoulder, then wrapped the boy in his arms as well.
Jim immediately felt tears start to pour down his face. He loved them all so much, and he had almost…
"I'm so sorry! Everything felt so hopeless and I thought it was the only thing I could do to save everyone. I'm so sorry." Jim cried and cried. He pressed his face to his mom's shoulder while his family pressed themselves against him.
"It will be ok Jim.  We are here for you. No matter what." Barbara said, choking back her own tears.
"This is all very moving," a gravely voice said. "But I thought I had made things clear to you, Trollhunter."
They all turned as one to face Merlin. The wizard was standing at the head of the stairs his arms behind his back.
"I thought I had made it clear that your human form would not be enough to defeat Gunmar. You are not enough."
Jim sagged below the weight of the wizards words. Claire and Toby immediately stood in front of him. His mom and Strickler flanked him on either side, their hands on his shoulders.
"Of course he won't be able to defeat Gunmar by himself! None of us would be able to." Claire shouted.
"Yeah, but he's not going to be by himself, we'll be there." Toby said, just as loud.
"That's well and good, but I need my champion." Merlin said, taking a step forward.
Toby and Claire immediately extended their weapons, creating a wall in front of Jim. Strickler transformed his hands going to his collar, and coming away with knives bristling in each fist.
Barbara was never one to stand and posture, she darted forward and punched Merlin as hard as she could. He stumbled backwards and fell with an incredible clatter to the bottom of the stairs.
"If that's how it's going to be." Merlin pulled out his sword again. "But know Jim, their deaths will be on your hands."
Merlin put a foot on the first step and all of Jim's friends braced themselves for a fight. But Jim himself pushed past them and leapt down the stairs. The last time he had jumped down the stairs he had been seven and had broken his arm. Now he had spent the past year training his agility daily, and had a wizard to break his fall.
Jim summoned his sword, helmet and shield as he hurtled through the air, crashing into the wizard. He pinned Merlin against the wall.
"Young Atlas!" Jim heard Strickler call from behind him. He immediately spun away leaving Merlin exposed. The changeling hurled several handfuls of knives. Some were blocked, but one stuck in the wizard's shoulder.
Merlin reached to pull the knife from his shoulder, but Claire appeared beside him out of a portal. She struck him across the face with her staff. Then with a roar Toby threw himself, hammer first down the steps, knocking the wizard through the wall and into the front yard.
Jim kicked open the front door and dashed into the yard to face Merlin. Toby and Claire moved wide to flank him. Jim tried to keep his distance while he fenced, he didn't want to give him the same advantage as before.
The three kids kept Merlin at bay, till he suddenly shouted in anger. An emerald wave knocked Toby and Claire to the ground and sent their weapons flying. Daylight also flew out of Jim's hand. Before he could summon his glaives Merlin stepped inside his guard grabbing one arm and reaching to pull the amulet from Jim's chest.
Jim pressed his own hand against Merlin's pinning the older man's hand, and preventing him from pulling his armor off.
"You'll find I'm a quick learner." Jim said, then sealed the faceplate of his helmet and slammed it against Merlin's face. The headbutt made Merlin stagger back and gave Toby and Claire time to recollect their weapons.
Merlin saw that he was surrounded and threw his sword at Toby who blocked it with his war hammer but still screamed in pain. Claire hesitated between continuing the fight and going to check on Toby.  Merlin used that distraction to jump at Jim again, this time when he grabbed him he didn't try and remove the Amulet, instead he stepped sideways.
Jim felt the same stomach churning feeling as when he went through one of Claire's portals and he realized he and Merlin were now in the bathroom again. Jim could only shout in fear as Merlin pushed him backwards into the tub. He tried to break the wizard's grip but he was too strong.
He felt the water flow into his mouth and nose. He tried to take a breath to scream and water filled his lungs. His chest was burning and he couldn't focus. His arms and legs flailed uselessly. All he could feel were the hands on his armor holding him under. He tried to scream and cough and cry and couldn't, the water burning his lungs. Jim felt himself sinking, getting pulled further and further away, his vision fading to black as he fell.
The hands holding him down jerked and let go. A new pair of hands grabbed him and pulled him upwards. Hands he recognized, hands that had held him when he cried, hands that bandaged him up when he was hurt as a child, hands that brushed through his hair as he fell asleep. His face broke the surface of the water.
His chest heaved as the water poured itself out of him. Someone held him so the water flowed out of his lungs. Jim pressed his face against the floor he could only focus on coughing up the water so he could breathe. Slowly as oxygen flooded his starved body his world broadened. His mom was patting his back, urging the last water from his body.
When no more water came, Jim leaned back against the tub, his mom holding him close. Toby and Claire were watching from the bathroom door, and Strickler's head could be seen behind them. Merlin lay unconscious, the shattered remains of the porcelain toilet cover scattered around him. Jim turned his head and looked in the tub, but the water was draining away, the black potion gone, its magic spent.
Barbara carefully helped Jim downstairs to the couch, while Strickler and Ms. Nomura escorted Merlin out of the house. Morgana was free, but Jim needed some time to recover. And everyone else needed time to remind him, both matter what Merlin had said or done, they loved him, and would never leave his side. They would face the coming battle, together.

The meeting between Noctis and Stella in Versus XIII, but done with Sora and Kairi in a Kingdom Hearts IV scenario instead (though this isn’t a meeting for them, of course).
Because, even while I don’t think it’ll happen... it could happen, since Nomura went out of his way to make Sora and Kairi like Noctis and Luna Stella in KHIII.
And while you’d think he’d just do this with Yozora and Stella 2.0 in KHIV... would he really? Since he won’t have as much time to devote to them, as the still main love interests of this series: Sora and Kairi?
Anyway...
Home
“Sora, you can see the light?” Kairi asked the love of her life, before she could stop herself—as she sensed him coming up behind her, and saw in her peripheral that he was looking into the same mysterious beam that she was.
…Surely the part of her had been influenced by her Other, Naminé, when they’d temporarily merged—the one who had used to explain things to everyone—was responsible for this line of questioning.
…Since she and Sora had been tragically separated for years since what had happened at the Keyblade Graveyard, Kairi should have been running towards Sora for all she was worth… and embracing and kissing him, but instead she was talking in circles.
But it wasn’t only for the fact that Kairi sensed that this was all important and led somewhere, that she was saying this.
No.
There was also, in fact, a strong part of her that was amazed Sora could see this amazing thing that she now could:
Ever since Xehanort had- had killed her—something that was still hard for Kairi to think about. And she imagined it was only worse for Sora—she had had this ability…
But she had had no one to talk about it with—save for Xion, who had only a bit of the same ability: Since her newbody hadn’t perished yet, but her old one had.
“Y-yeah,” Sora muttered, looking at Kairi like she was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen—something that Kairi felt deeply honored for, since she had thought that of him for ages: long before he had even noticed she existed—and acting just as shyly as she had, when he had complimented her, flirted with her, and hit on her all at the same time, when she’d brought himback from the dead.
“Was it after- after you used the Power of Waking to save me?” Kairi asked, hating herself once more as she did so… that after she’d trained so hard—and she’d actually succeeded in saving Sora—he had had to die to rescue her, because of that evil man.
And strongly wanting to be with Sora again, as those memories assaulted her, Kairi finally sprung forward and caught her love’s arm between her hands and placed her face against his shoulder blade.
It took all that Kairi had within her to not cry here. But she’d promised herself that she wouldn’t allow it, since she didn’t deserve it. And she held onto that notion even now.
“Sora, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for what you had to go through for me. Agai-”
But before Kairi could even finish the sentence, she found her lips otherwise occupied as Sora pulled her into his arms.
And though while she was thoroughly enjoy it—it was everything she had ever wanted: Sora tasted like mint; and the feel of his lips was what she’d imagine feathers falling and brushing her forehead would be—Kairi couldn’t get over that their first kiss had to be like this:
Not after they’d shared the paopus, or after they’d won the Keyblade War with no casualties in some alternate universe… but instead after they hadn’t seen each other since they’d moved past this World.
Sora was the first to pull away—though he didn’t do so for malice, Kairi knew—but the fact she was still holding onto him spoke well of how much she never wanted to let him go again.
“Sora, I-” But Sora interrupted her, as he went and sat down on a nearby loveseat: clearly tired from his long journey back.
And while Kairi didn’t believe she quite deserved these following words of comfort, she greedily took them into her heart anyway.
“Kairi… don’t apologize. None of it was ever your fault. And I’d do it all again in a heartbeat… Kairi, you were trying to fight for the first time. And you did well! Better than I could have done in your shoes… And you saved me. Thank you.
“Anyway, it wasn’t because of you, that Xemnas tried to get back at Roxas for his speech… and used all of our shock at Roxas’ words, to nab you before anyone could do anything about it. It was least of all your fault, what with the painful way he held you.
“And when… that bastard summoned you unconscious, and he- he… all so he could create the X-Blade… Kairi there are still times I wish I could do it all again, and end him for what he did to you.”
Kairi gasped—nearly falling onto the couch alongside Sora in her shock at this—just as it got even darker outside. She couldn’t help it… It was just the first time she’d ever heard Sora be so violent and hateful.
And as a Princess of Heart, she probably should have frowned at this attitude… But she couldn’t.
Instead, Kairi felt oddly… grateful for his love and protection of her. And safe.
She’d just been so sure that everything laid with her, and always had.
And furthermore, that if given a second chance… all the others might choose to let her drown so they could have Sora back…
And that maybe even Sora regretted his own sacrifice—how would she know differently? She hadn’t seen him—and would have chosen himself over her, if he could have done it again.
So hearing the exact opposite of all her fears, was almost too much for Kairi to bear.
But she didn’t let it deter her. She’d promised herself that she wouldn’t bawl, hadn’t she? And so, she still wouldn’t.
Maybe that was why she decided to get back to the new development:
“So… back to the subject at hand—about us now being able to tell when people are about to die—do you think I should mention it to anyone? It probably seems dark for a Princess of Light, right?”
Sora smirked at this. And at first, Kairi didn’t understand why. Was he just glad that she was subtly trying to get them back to the less heavy subjects, when they should have been relishing in happiness right now?
Or was it, now that they were pretty much engaged, Sora got the sense that she was saying that if she wasn’t allowed to be dark, it was okay: because her mate could somewhat be that way for her, if need be?
“Yeah,” Sora laughed—suddenly picking Kairi up in his arms: something she “oofed” for at first, but quickly greedily took in as she leaned her cheek against his chest. “I prob’ly wouldn’t mention it to anyone, if I were you… for the reasons you said, Kairi. At least not ‘til we can ask someone about this world’s lore. We may just be effected this way here, for this world’s laws.”
And it was in hearing Sora talk about the “world’s laws”, that common sense and an act to guard Sora, too, seemed to return to Kairi…
After all… from what Sora had told her about his second adventure, he’d come across laws for certain worlds already: When he, Donald, and Goofy, had been unaffected by the cursed treasure in Port Royal.
And apparently in that moment, Sora had felt a great bit of loneliness in realizing they were just always passing through… and wondering when they’d finally get home.
And while Kairi supposed she should have seen herself as the “home” at the end of that scenario right now—wasn’t that what she’d told Sora twice? After he’d defeated Xemnas the first time, and when he’d found her in the light?—she got the feeling that right now… At least with how they were now entangled in something that never should have been able to touch them…  That she wasn’t his home, and if they tried to bridge the gap between them too soon, it would end in disaster again.
And Kairi wouldn’t let that happen.
...Suddenly feeling like a girl fleeing a party from a guy she realized she liked too much— something Kairi’d never actually experience because she’d only ever dance with Sora and she was ready for this, even if pretenses were a thing now—she stumbled away from his arms, and spun around into a curtsey… and lied to his face.
“I… I have to go now, Sora. We’ve just started dating, I mean… And while I felt I might see you tonight, before I came here… I didn’t fully believe it, and wasn’t ready for it yet. So, I didn’t get made up like I like… like I would’ve wanted to do for you. And tonight, I’m too tired to look like anything but a drowned rat now. So tomorrow, Sor… Tomorrow our hands will get closer to reaching each other’s once more.”
Sora was clearly taken aback by this at first—as his eyebrows shot up—and he looked as if he was about to beg Kairi to stay, as his mouth opened and his hands shot out.
But then he calmed down—reigned himself in—and said just this, with a soft smile: “Tomorrow night then, Kai.”
And Kairi fled the mysterious castle, accidentally snagging a piece of her hair on the banister as she did so and hoping that Sora would find it—and deliver it to her, oddly enough—and that it would be like the tale of Cinderella she’d heard of from Aqua.
Outside, the moon seemed to widen as the night turned ebony.

20 & P with barbmura for the fanfic prompts?
(20) Werewolf AU - (P) Pining
One Could Hope
Nomura pauses in front of her door.  Her hand holds the key just outside the lock.  She feels it again.  The prickle at the back of her neck.  The sense that she’s being watched.  Barely moving her head, she glances up.  A shining, full moon sits in a cloudless sky.  Nomura knows what that means, and the knowledge causes her heart to ache.
She waits, but nothing more happens.  If she doesn’t go in, it will be strange.  She can’t be sure what will happen then.  She needs to keep acting like everything’s normal.  No matter how much that hurts.  It’s the only chance they truly have.
Nomura takes a deep breath, unlocks her door, and walks inside.  Her footsteps echo through the empty stillness of the house.  She ignores the longing that rises in her chest.  Yes, when there was someone else living there, that person often got home later than her, but still.  Just knowing she always came back made the house feel a little less empty to Nomura.
Nomura doesn’t think about her smile, her laugh, or her warmth.  She can’t.  The longing for them will cloud her thoughts.  It’s exhausting.  So exhausting.  Too exhausting.
She goes to make herself some tea.
Concealed in the shadows of the shrubbery outside, a reddish-brown wolf regards the house.  Her eyes are an uncanny blue; the only indication she’s not exactly what she seems.  A chilly breeze ruffles her fur.  She ignores it.
Barbara wants to go home.  To walk through the front door, put her keys in the usual spot, to find her (ex)wife, and wrap her arms around her.  To kiss Nomura until she laughs.  To dance around the house with her.  To feel like they had.  Before.
She can’t do that.  Never.  Not even on nights that aren’t the full moon.  The full moon will always, always come.  Over time, Barbara has managed to gain more and more control during her time as a wolf.  She knows how to hunt now.  She has territory deep in the woods where it’s unlikely humans will stumble across her.  She goes there for the transformation itself.  The urges are always greatest in the first hours.  She hunts.  She eats.  She sustains herself.  She doesn’t hurt anyone.
That doesn’t mean she can’t.
Barbara rises, takes one last look at the house, turns, and strides away.  She’s never lost control.  Not yet.  But she’s seen for herself what happens.
Once upon a time, there was a critically injured man in an Emergency Room.  He’d been hit by a truck and somehow managed to survive.  The driver brought him in.  The man had been panicky.  As a doctor, Barbara tried her best to calm him, to tend to him.  He bit her.  He hadn’t meant to.  He apologized profusely, begged her forgiveness.  Then, he ran off, despite knowing, with his injuries, he wouldn’t get far.  His corpse was found a week later.
Barbara bandaged her bite wound, and tried to move on.  She managed to.  Until the full moon.
She didn’t remember much from that first time.  She’d been home.  She’d felt weird.  Nomura worried about her catching a cold and fussed.  Then pain.  Nomura’s scream.  The rest was foggy.  She’d woken up naked in the middle of their bedroom, surrounded by broken belongings.  Nomura had locked her in, and fled to a motel.
When they reunited after that night, Nomura grabbed Barbara’s hands, squeezed them, and promised they’d figure out a way through this.  Together.
Barbara waited until Nomura left for work, and then she herself left.  She didn’t know where she was going, but she did know she wasn’t going back.  She could never go back.  No matter how much she longed too.
Nomura’s tea sits forgotten on the kitchen table when the sun rises.  She wakes at dawn, every muscle in her body aching from an uncomfortable night on the couch.  She doesn’t sleep well these days, but it’s worst on full moon nights.  Night when she knows Barbara is out there somewhere.  Hurting.
She checks her phone.  As per usual, there’s a few messages from Jim.  He asks the same questions he always does.  She gives him the same answers she always does.  She wonders if she should tell him the feeling she gets during the full moon, the feeling that Barbara is close, watching, but never does.  Nomura doesn’t want to raise his hopes.  It took more than a year for her to convince him to go to college (and even then he hadn’t gone far).  Raising his hopes would just bring him back to Arcadia, to where his life, like hers, would be on hold in an agonizing waiting game.  She couldn’t let him do that.  She knew Barbara wouldn’t want her son to do that.
Nomura sighs.  She puts her phone down.  It rings.  She snaps it back up.
“Hello?”
“…”
“Barbara, is that you?  If it’s you, please, say something.”
“…”
“Please, please, listen.  It wasn’t your fault.  None of it was your fault.  Just, come home.”  Nomura pauses.  Her heart thunders.  Every moment she’s not saying something feels like a moment where the person on the other end will hang up.  “I love you,” Nomura whispers.  “I love you so much.  That hasn’t changed, and it never will.  Come home, and I promise we will work through this.  Together.”
There’s what sounds like a cry from the other end.  The line goes dead.
Nomura squeezes her eyes shut.  Opens them.  Blinks away tears.  Maybe her words were enough.  Maybe Barbara would show up on their doorstep later that day.
One could hope.

Hakuoki asks: 1, 3, 9, 10!
1. Why/How did you decide to start playing Hakuouki?
When I first got into the otome fandom here on tumblr (circa 2012) one of the first blogs I started following was @otomeinsanity who posted quite a bit about Hakuouki.  The characters looked hot and the story intriguing (I love anything with demons lol) and so I did a search to find out if it was localized. Lucky for me it was and I found it on Amazon for the 3DS (Memories of the Shinsengumi)! I then immediately bought Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms when they were released because I was dying to romance Shinpachi and Yamazaki.
3. What is your favorite character and route? They don’t have to be the same.
Honestly probably Harada for both.  The way he fell for Chizuru just made the most sense to me.  Like, she wasn’t his therapist or his nursemaid or his crutch or obsession. He just loved her for who she was.  I also loved his gentlemanly, protective manner. Also the way Chizuru was protective of him was very much how I would have acted in the same situation.  Lots of crying was done in that route!
9. Is there a character that doesn’t currently have a route that you really want to see with one?
The blue-haired god Miki was the character I most looked forward to in Kyoto Winds and yet they made him an NPC whyyyyyyyyy
Definitely Miki, he obviously needs someone to guide him, which is what Itou does.  After his brother dies, Miki is just so lost. Chizuru could be his north star.
Shiranui also needs a route, it would be interesting to see how that wildcard would act in love. And he has to have a pretty intriguing backstory. I mean, he’s also a clan leader so he has to have some leadership qualities that put him in that position.  Would love to learn more about him.
I also have a soft spot for Takeda; as someone who has also had to work damn hard for what I have I can understand his resentment towards people he thinks had everything handed to them on a silver platter.  I think he could be redeemed by the right person and pure hearted Chizuru could be that for him.
And Nomura cuz he’s just adorable!
10. Did you cry at any point during the game?
ALL OF IT.
When Chizuru was begging Harada to let her go and he refused; when Harada told Chizuru he’d kill her father so she wouldn’t have to live with the guilt; Yamazaki’s burial at sea; every freaking time Inoue dies; every freaking time Nomura dies; EVERY FREAKING TIME HEISUKE DIES
Thanks for the ask!

Let’s talk about Kingdom Hearts 4
I know KH3 just came out, so I’ll not spoil anything.
Mostly, I just want to get my list of wants out there, so Nomura could potentially see it and take my ideas. (Yeah right)
Basically, these are the Disney worlds I want to see in KH3 graphics. (Enough to make you cry)
Atlantis- Starting the list strong. This movie is the BEST for Kingdom Hearts and I don’t know why they haven’t used it? I know it’s not the most popular film, but surely I would have been better than Pinochicco again or Troy Legacy? But I digress. Sora, Donald, and Goofy join the expedition to Atlantis. So you get a little chunk of London, then the ship, then the caverns, then the city of Atlantis! Since they like flying battles so much, they got those flying fish ships! Come on! Besides all this, the heart of the city being the giant crystal is like a giant target for [antagonists] and could potentially have a lot of story to move.
Sleeping Beauty- This is mostly my personal preference, because this is my favorite movie, but the route they picked in BBS would be SO awesome to see in the new graphics, especially given the teaser we saw in 2.8. Basically, I just want to go into the two Castles, Malficent’s Forbidden Mountain and Stefan’s Castle. Story wise, what if Aurora was finally getting married to Prince Phillip and Maleficent came back home just to mess with them? Either way, I just want to go in some Castles.
Incredibles- Nomura loves Jungles/Forests, I guess. Let’s join up with Bob on the island from the first film and go from there. Island and facility. And a city at the end, if we wanted to.
Lilo and Stitch- But in Hawaii, instead of deep space. I think Sora would feel right at home on the Beach. Story wise, perhaps Sora is the only one who can tame Stitch at first, until He warms up to Lilo. Having Sora and Stitch team up to save Lilo from Gantu would be cool.
Treasure Planet- But just the ship in space, like ‘Deep Space’ in BBS. Or like Captain Hook’s Ship in KH1. Sora loves being a pirate, he’d love this one too.
Radiant Garden- Not a Disney World, But I want it back so so badly! I want to go into the castle like in KH1 and see how it looks after being renovated. Please Nomura, I beg you!
Jungle Book- Personally, not my favorite movie, but there are abandoned assets for the world already in BBS. Those Ruins would be pretty cool to play in.
Destiny Islands- Again, not a Disney world, but I want to play on the island again! Maybe go to the main land too! Meet The trio’s family! (Isn’t that wishful thinking??)
Hunchback of Notre Dame- Yeah, it was in DDD, but like BBS, the graphics were a step down from the first game (in my humble opinion) Sora could go and try to be friends with Quasi, but since the world was asleep, he doesn’t remember him. But Sora knows what happens in the world’s timeline, so he knows how to help.
101 Dalmatians- PUPPY HUNT 2.0
Honestly, I would love to see any of the old worlds in Unreal Engine. KH3 was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. There were a lot of New worlds in KH3 (not complaining, it was too fun) but if the game is about Friendship, I feel like Sora and the gang should be revisiting old friends. Hence, worlds that have been explored.
For now, I’m content with anything.

Oh yeah, forgot. Which character(s) in KH are you most interested in seeing saved? Most fans are either excited to play as Sora to how Roxas and/or Aqua get saved. But there's also Xion, Terra, Namine and Ven who called out to Sora and we have no clue either how they're coming back.
Hmmm. great question anon! (and yes I’m still gonna get around to answering your other questions, too!)
Here be serious KH3 spoilers that include the most recent promotional material.
Not gonna lie, because of Blank Points and because of Sora’s connection to Ven, I am pretty excited to see Aqua’s rescue. I’ve been meaning to write a post saying why Aqua’s rescue has been set up so well (and why Sora should be the one to do it), but it’s gotten put on the back burner a bit. Can you imagine her looking in the eyes of the boy who has done so much for the worlds, the boy who made her smile and cry, smiling and crying at her because he’s so happy she’s safe? Because he longed to save her and Ven inside his heart longed to save her, too? KH3 is going to leave me an emotional wreck, you guys, because this has all been set up so well.
Also, she looks like she’s turning into a Heartless (a Darkling, to be exact) in the most recent promotional material. Sora has been a Heartless. He knows exactly how she feels, and that means he’ll have a good idea how to help her, too.
But Sora wanting to save Roxas has been set up really well in Re:coded and DDD, too, and in that Famitsu article from E3 it said that Sora will be doing everything he can to rescue Roxas. Xemnas and Ansem tempt him to give into the darkness in several trailers, and that temptation would mean nothing if Sora didn’t care deeply about Roxas and about saving him. I can imagine it now, Sora torn between doing the smart thing and doing what his heart is begging him to do. Roxas’s fate hurts him deeply, and he is not okay with his current state and will do everything he can to fix that. So I’m pretty excited about that rescue, too.
And Sora has his promise to Naminé to thank her that’s been a thing since KH2. When he tried to in DDD, the anguish in his voice, the emotion - argh, I know I want to see him rescue Naminé, too. I want him to remember her as well, if that’s at all possible.
As I’m saying this, though - I want to make it clear that while I want Sora to have a role in saving all of them, I don’t think he’ll do it singlehandedly. He will absolutely have the help of his friends, and that’s the whole point. I don’t think him saving them will rain on Riku’s parade or make him seem incompetent or unworthy of his title of Keyblade Master. I’ve seen some concern that Sora will steal Riku’s spotlight, and all I can say is, we actually know surprisingly little about Riku’s role at this point, other than that he and Mickey initially search for Aqua, at some point he gets a new Keyblade, etc., etc. I doubt the deuteragonist of this series, who Nomura has done a great job of developing thus far, is going to be pushed to the sidelines :) And Kairi is… well, pretty much required to save Naminé, since Naminé’s heart is inside hers and all. No, this won’t be a solo effort, not at all :)
Anyway, continuing on. I also want Sora to rescue Xion because he would be so touched by her sacrifice. Sora really gets what it means to sacrifice yourself for the sake of someone you love, having firsthand experience and all, and I just get the feeling she would be so precious to him? He loves all his friends, of course, but I think he would have a special place in his heart for Xion.
And Ven. Ven, his oldest friend, the person he’s known since the day he was born. Ven has shaped Sora into who he is today, and Sora literally does not remember a time in his life without him. I don’t think he even knows yet that Ven is inside his heart, but once he does, you better believe he’ll try to save him. And Ven has such a special bond with him, the part where he smiles at the end of DDD as Sora is playing with the Dream Eaters is just such a parental thing to do and it warms my heart.
Terra is the real wild card here. We’ve seen a few milliseconds blip of him so far and we have no clue as to how he might be rescued. I think he and Sora might bond over the fact that they failed to achieve the Mark of Mastery on their first go around, that they have to deal with this darkness inside of them. If anyone gets a critical role in saving Terra besides Sora, it’ll probably be Riku, since they already have that connection.
But then again, Young Xehanort did use Terra-Xehanort’s chess piece to checkmate Sora’s… hmmm…
I think we’ve seen so little of Terra because his rescue will happen near the end, if not last. If we assume that he is still Terranort after Xemnas and Ansem SOD were restored, un-norting someone sounds incredibly difficult. Like… how are they going to get Xehanort’s heart out of him? Xehanort isn’t going to willingly release Terra, that’s for sure. Either Terra is going to fight it and free himself or Xehanort is going to change his mind and release him. I don’t think the latter would happen unless someone strikes a bargain for his freedom.
Or I could be totally off base and Terra’s rescue happens early? I don’t know though, of all the characters, Terra seems like the most difficult to save. Xehanort has his claws sunk into him and he is not about to let his prized possession be snatched away. Terranort is the body he wanted to use to see the future. He doesn’t even see Terra as a person anymore, just a tool.
Since we really don’t know about Terra yet, I’m pretty curious to see his rescue… and what it might cost the Guardians of Light.
So to answer your question, anon, I’m looking forward to seeing all of their rescues :) I think we’re in for a real treat with KH3, because we have watched these characters that are so near and dear to our hearts suffer and feel despair, and now it looks like we’ll finally get to watch Sora, the character we’ve witnessed grow into the dearest one of them all, save them and bring them hope and healing.
Thanks for the ask!

Weight of the Waters
AU: Claire doesn't make it back from when she retrieves the bridge from the shipping container in the ocean. Rated T for semi-graphic descriptions of drowning. There’s some very vaguely implied Toby/Claire if you squint. Credit goes to @infographicisminetocommand for giving me the idea.
Read on FFN
Toby hated the ocean. He had hated it since before he could spell the word hate because it was what had taken his parents from him. As a kid, there had been two things that terrified him to no end: storms and being submerged in water. It had been a struggle for Nana to convince him to take baths. As soon as he was able he started taking showers instead. However, it had been fourteen years. Toby had thought he had gotten over his fear, but then the universe proved him wrong.
Toby stayed where they had retrieved the pieces of the bridge until Steve began to stir. Toby had deleted the video from his phone (no need to ruin Jim's name for something he had no affect on). He had had a plan for when Claire finally made a portal to send herself back. However, even with his gravity hammer Toby didn't think he had the strength to send the bully back to Arcadia, so he grabbed NotEnrique, and ran to where they had stashed the bikes. He contemplated giving NotEnrique the glamour mask, so that Claire's parents wouldn't worry, but decided against it. He still needed to pretend to be Jim, and maybe Claire had made a portal straight to her bed so that she could sleep it off. Or maybe he hadn't been the best emotional anchor and she was somewhere in the woods. He left her bike so that she'd know where to get it and tried not to feel like she was dead. She had once said to save his anger for the Darklands, back when they had thought everyone – well, everyone but AAARRRGGHH!!! – was going there to rescue Enrique as opposed to just Jim. Toby figured he may as well honor Claire’s wishes as best he could.
He was able to keep pretending that there was a chance Claire was still alive until he arrived home. He was about to say something to his Wingman when he remembered. In just over two weeks, Toby had lost two of his closest friends, and Jim was nearly a third. He had almost lost NotEnrique as well. It sucked, knowing that for hope of rebuilding the bridge and getting Jim back meant that, just like his parents, Claire had to die in the middle of the ocean.
"Why?" Toby asked the emptiness of his room. If he had a chance to get Claire back, would he have traded away Jim? Jim was his best friend, but only people like Angor Rot, Nomura, Bular, and Strickler deserved to drown, and even those were iffy. Jim had decided to go to the Darklands without them, but Claire had decided to send herself and NotEnrique into an unknown location.
His room wasn’t empty, however. Gnome Chompsky walked out of the dollhouse and stared up at him. Toby remembered back to when he had first met the gnome. Jim had been smaller; all of their problems had been so much smaller back then, even if they hadn’t felt like it. Toby let out a sob as he remembered how he was going to drown Chompsky and then hide the remains using the garbage disposal.
“I’m so sorry, you didn’t deserve that,” Toby cried, not sure who he was speaking to. Did it matter though? None of them deserved drowning. Not his parents, not nearly NotEnrique and Chompsky, and certainly not Claire.
Claire saw Suzy Snooze float upwards towards the top of the shipping container in a dead man’s float. It wasn’t just a matter of if she could muster the anger to save her friend anymore. It was ow a matter of if she didn’t act now she’d be losing her other brother after finally getting back her first one.
She couldn’t lose anyone else.
Saltwater burned her eyes as she opened a portal to Toby and another, larger rupture opened in the side of the shipping container. As NotEnrique passed through the portal to safety, Claire swam to a crate slipping away from its trajectory. She pushed it back into place; her body slipped through the rupture. She tried to swim back through it, even though her limbs felt heavy and exhausted from the vast number of portals she had made.
The portal closed once the crate was through, leaving Claire stranded in a dark abyss. In some ways, it was not unlike where she had found herself when she had taken the Staff from Angor Rot. There were a couple major differences, however. She had been weightless, and a light had filtered through the area from where she and the assassin had passed through. Also, she could breathe there. Here, there was neither light nor air to be had, and the weight of the water around her threatened to crush her.
Claire’s fingers twitched along the edge of the staff. Her fear had saved NotEnrique, why couldn’t she use fear to save herself? As the lack of oxygen burned her body, anger burned her mind. Anger at the staff that refused to obey her, at Steve for calling Jim a fake even though the bully couldn’t have known the extent of Jim’s heroism, at herself for not having practiced more. Were she more practiced, she might’ve not risked them drowning. Anger at Gunmar and the goblins and Strickler and even NotEnrique for kidnapping her brother, anger at her parents and herself for letting him get kidnapped, anger at Jim for going to the Darklands in the first place because it was everyone but Toby’s fault that she was drowning!
Claire opened her mouth to scream. Maybe her anger needed multiple outlets as opposed to just the Staff if she was going to make it out of here alive.
Just as natured abhorred a vacuum, water rushed into her mouth before she could realize her mistake. She tried not to cry, not to open her mouth or inhale through her nose even as her body begged for air. The lack of it and the pressure of the water felt like she was splintering along her jaw, up her fingers, and outward from her eyes.
Claire opened her mouth again, and this time she felt a sticker substance than saltwater exit at the same time as the last bubbles of carbon dioxide. Briefly she tasted bitter iron, but the taste of salt overwhelmed her. She fought against the undercurrent to bring both hands upon the Staff as one last call for it to help her, one last desperate attempt to save herself.
Anchor. She needed someone or something to anchor herself to but thinking of anyone was so difficult.
She thought she saw the area near her hands and the Staff grow darker than the choking blackness that surrounded her.
Claire gasped for air as she pushed herself above the waves before collapsing on the rocky shore. She coughed weakly as the cold air and feeling of wariness hit her, reminding her of the seawater clinging to her clothes. She coughed, and a mixture of saltwater and a black liquid came out. Once again, the tastes of salt, iron, and a bitterness not unlike the 100% baker’s chocolate Jim and her Papi had in their respective kitchens filled her mouth. As she brought her hand up to rub at her mouth, she frowned. It was as if the veins in her fingers and hand had turned black. Was that what she had coughed up? Blackened blood? When she wiped her chin and jaw, the skin felt oddly grooved.
Where was she? She doubted she had been close enough to shore that she could have drifted upwards to shore and lived. However, neither Arcadia nor Guadalajara were exactly coastal, and she didn’t have any poignant memories of beaches that she’d dwell on in times of crisis. The only pond, lake, or similar body of water that she’d care so deeply about that it would appear in her dying moments was currently trapped in the Darklands.
Claire coughed once more before a yellow light appeared at the corner of her vision. The water evaporated from Claire’s clothing, hair, and lungs.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that, Child.” Claire looked up to see a woman in golden armor levitating in front of her. “You have a rather strong grip on the Skathe-Hrün. It took a bit of time for me to get to it so I could save you.”
She extended a hand tipped with armored claws to Claire. The sight of it, as well as the woman’s words about the Shadow Staff, made Claire more uneasy than she had when she had first washed ashore.
“You’ll probably have questions, but you’ll want to rest first. I know just how much damage drowning does to you,” the woman said.
While she had been taught not to look a gift horse in the mouth, Claire also had been taught to trust her instincts and be cautious when accepting a favor. According to her mother, often times what looked like a good deal would have strings attached. Claire’s instincts were telling her to make a portal and go home before her parents could realize she wasn’t there. She was already going to be in enough trouble since she had ditched school. However, she didn’t have the strength to try and make a portal to Arcadia. The staff might not even be hers to command at the moment. Claire looked up at the woman’s masked face to ask to be sent home. Instead, she couldn’t help but notice just how similar the woman’s eyes were to Toby’s.
Claire took the woman’s hand and let herself be led away.

i beat kh3 and oh boy do i both love it and am kinda just :/ towards some of it
thoughts under the cut (and its gonna have spoilers so pls dont look if u avoiding them)
first, my gripes:
the story is fukin wild, which i expected from kh3 dont get me wrong, but u can rlly tell what parts nomura was just like “what do i do with this”. KAIRI AND NAMINE IN FUCKING GENERAL are the biggest damn example of this. i already dont like how theyre written in kh, but my god nomura had a chance to fix it and he didnt, its now objectively a lil worse. kairi is reduced to a damsel in distress AGAIN after showing some potential of improving that with her training with lea/axel, which rlly fuckin stings. shes in ONE on screen battle actually fighting, the other battle she’s in? doesnt fight, sits on the sidelines protecting a knocked out axel and then getting whooshed away. she’s always been the implied love interest for sora, and nomura rlly just reduces her to tht in the end on top of the damsel in distress. namine is in the game, but its p much a blink and ull miss it. the most interaction she has with someone is with sora in the final world as a star. the next time shes shown is being waking up and being whisked away by riku n then playing on destiny islands. she had no plot relevance and she also doesnt have a reunion with her friends like everyone else got, which is p sad to me. these girls deserve better smh.
the gimmicks in some worlds are p meh, the one i hated at first was the ship battles in the carribean, but it grew on me during my trophy hunting. the hundred acre wood mini games are so boring and forgettable, and i would argue that the world is too. u literally pop in, help them gather food, then pop out after reassuring pooh tht sora will always be in his heart. they dont explain why their bond got weaker at all.
the ultima weapon in this is stupid to get bc its locked behind annoying minigames for most of those orichalcum+ materials. theres also one locked behind a long gummi ship boss battle so that sounds horrible and im not looking forward to it lol
i played on proud and i found it isnt really....difficult. aside from me not using block bc i always wanna be hitting things, it was fairly easy to beat. its a shame really.
let me play as the other keybladers other than sora aqua and riku thanks
enough with my gripes, now for what i love about it:
I KNOW I WAS SUPER CRITICAL ABT NOMURA’S WRITING IN THIS ONE BUT I STILL LOVE IT. EVERYONE REUNITES WITH THEIR FRIENDS AND IM SO FUCKING HAPPY ABT THT IT MAKES ME TEARFUL!!!! MY GIRLFRIEND AQUA IS BACK AND HER HAPPY FAMILY IS (mostly) WHOLE AGAIN!! THE SEA SALT TRIO LIVES AGAIN!!!! ISA AND THE TWILIGHT TOWN GANG JOIN IN ON IT!!!! I CRY!!!!!! THEYRE ALL BACK AND IM SO HAPPYYYYYY
the music in the game is just so SO SOOOO GOOD. yoko shimomura did another excellent job with the themes and the arrangments, her music just makes me so emotional ;;;;;;
i rlly wish i was kidding when i said i was up at 4am crying bc of the ending. the implications it has left me with an immense sadness and the whole thing was bittersweet, so im glad the secret movie might be implying that theres much more after this. nomura u put him back now or i swear to god ill find u and cRY REALLY LOUDLY UNTIL U DO
NEW OUTFITS!!! xion’s new outfit is my fave its so cute
the game is rlly pretty, like holy shit. it runs fairly smoothly for looking like it does, i only rlly got frame drops in the carribean air boss. the nice models for pre rendered cutscenes look so cute
NEW UTADA HIKARU MUSIC, the orchestra version of dont think twice is so pretty, cant wait to hear it during the world of tres concert in june
the worlds were pretty enjoyable,  i adored the toy story monsters inc and san fransokyo worlds so much. the trio were rlly cute in the carribean too even if tht world was rlly meh to me. all these disney characters having no clue what any of the darkness villains are talking abt keeps me young. the way sully and mike deal with vanitas is hilarious, the way sora and co are just kinda THERE during elsa’s let it go song, hiro please i beg of you let me have a baymax PLEASE
riku’s reaction to mickey saying aqua was like sora is hilarious as well
the combat feels so GOOD, the keyblade switching is so fun, and how magic works in this game is soooo good and apparently broken lol
THEY GAVE SORA A PHONE. THEY TOLD HIM COMPUTER STUFF AND THE POOR BOY DOES NOT UNDERSTAND ANY OF IT. “I don’t computer.” -Sora 2019
there is so much snark and im absolutely loving it
axel looks so good in this game, i have never been an axel lover as much as i am after playing kh3, i am now a newly inducted axellover69
im glad this wasnt the end for kingdom hearts, bc while yes its been a while, kingdom hearts is one of my favorite series, and i couldnt imagine it stopping with 3 even when 3 was announced. I know itll end one day, but im glad today isnt that day.
im sure i missed a bit but all in all, even with its flaws, i love kh3
