In different worlds, there are different what-ifs.

Here’s ten what-ifs for Red Son

Fire.

It burned around him. Through him. In him.

There was something about it though... but did it matter? No. No, it didn’t. All that mattered, all that remained was the fire. He walked, focusing on the flames as he walked, focusing on the heat, the-

“Red!”

A voice?

Ignore it. It doesn’t matter.

“Red! Listen to me, please!” The walking stopped, although he wasn’t sure why. Some part of him demanded it, demanded he focus on the voice. It brought a different heat then the soothing flames. And... a memory. A memory of a pretty smile...

“Please come back to me.”

Then the heat was wrapping around him, almost overpowering the heat of the flames. It stroked... what? Pity? Sadness? Grief that the pretty smile’s owner was attached to something so foul...

The heat’s voice spoke again, in a whisper, low enough that he had to strain to hear it.

“I love you too.”

And then the hoop was around his neck and Red Son was back.

It had been bugging him since he had been knocked out.

Red had barely caught a glimpse of it, but the gold around everything revealed that it was the truth.

Xiaotian was currently rummaging through his closet, looking for a hairband before they headed to the arcade, leaving him to sit on his bed. Now was a perfect time.

Red took a deep breath and blinked. When he opened his eyes, the world was cast in a lovely shade of gold. Then Xiaotian stepped out of the closet. “Hey, Red. Ready to go?”

But he couldn’t respond.

Because the sight in front of him was both lovely and utterly awful.

Xiaotian was green, like a pretty jade figurine. But cracks ran through him, blue-green and yellow bouncing off each other to create an unsettling image. The worst part was the dragon wrapped tight around him, claws digging into his eyes, which were now nothing but blue-green.

Then Red blinked again.

“Red?” The world was back to color and Xiaotian was normal again. Except he wasn’t. “You okay?”

Was he?

Red groaned as he poked his head behind the corner, looking around. He resisted a shiver at the cold temperature- he had plenty of time to get used to the cold. “I can’t believe you had to wake me up of all people.”

Behind him, the dragon girl snorted. “You’re welcome, your Highness.”

The title was only reminding him of the blue and white robes he wore, stuff he would save for his mother’s stuffy dinner parties. Stuff that Xiaotian had dressed his sleeping body in.

Okay, time to go away from those thoughts.

“All that power going to his head,” Red explained, looking around again. “He needed something to tether him to what’s real. Someone on his side.” And Red had happily been that tether, making sure Xiaotian didn’t do something too wild. He whirled around on her.

She needed to know how badly she’d screwed up.

“In the dreaming world, I could talk to him any time I wanted. What you just did-”

And the chill became an overwhelming cold.

Red breathed out, noting the clouds that had formed at the breath, and sighed.

“You just took a knife to that tether.”

When the message about his father’s defeat at Sun Wukong’s hands came, Red turned back to his meditation.

Princess Iron Fan waited for her son to come home, but he never did.

When Xiaotian came down, he found DBK madly cackling, red painting his hands.

Red Son turned the necklace over in his hand, considering it.

The Demon Bull family’s symbol was on the front in careful red strokes. His mother had assured him that he’d always worn it. And besides, it would remind their enemies who their defeat came at the hands of... except that had been a lie. It had all been lies.

“I think I had a traumatic childhood.” he admitted out loud.

Both to himself and the black-furred monkey next to him.

Red stared at the image.

He blinked, rubbed his eyes, and then returned to staring.

On-screen was the campus’ latest meme. He couldn’t tell you if he wanted to what the words were. What he was focused on was the image that created the meme.

It was of him.

Dressed in what could barely be called an outfit, just a piece of gossamer fabric that had been wrapped around him for practice of fabric, lunging at Qi Xiaotian. He could remember the event- it was last Friday, his most recent modeling session. He and Xiaotian had been doing their regular argument when the latter had said something and...

He hadn’t been able to control the urge to throttle him.

And now the outline of his ass was out for all to see.

Red barely noticed the screen of his phone cracking under his grip. All he could focus on was finding that stupid noodle boy and finishing the job.

His father was gone.

His father... was gone. Had left him. Had disowned him and cast him out and abandoned him. Was never coming back for him.

Red Son felt his knees grow weak. He collapsed onto them, staring at where he had last seen his father. Unnoticed by him, tears rolled down his face, turning to steam as they touched his skin.

He wasn’t sure how long he stayed there, on his knees in the little corner his father had secluded them in. At least he had given him the mercy of privacy before disowning him.

Finally, Red Son staggered to his feet.

With nothing else to it, he disappeared in a rush of flames.

Heading towards Flower Fruit Mountain.

Xiaotian and Xiaojiao stared at the scene- the empty digsite and the fact that Red Son was digging in the middle of it.

He paused. “Don’t worry. I won’t attack. There’s no need anyway. It’s all gone.”

“Then...” Xiaotian paused to reach the bottom of the slope. He held out his staff just in case. “Why are you digging?”

“Oh, it’s simple really. My parents needed this artifact to power Father’s armor since going after the staff would be a waste of time.” Unwillingly, Xiaotian’s grip tightened on his staff. He and Xiaojiao shared an uncertain look. “Since I failed my last mission, I thought hey! A chance to make up for it! Except,” Red gestured grandly to the dig site, empty of people.

And artifacts.

“And I can’t go back empty-handed! Not like last time! So,” Red Son returned to pawing through the dirt. “This is my grave.” He glanced over his shoulder, his wide grin and messy hair revealing his unravelling state. “Want me to dig you two ones as well?”

The two shook their heads.

“Suit yourself.” Without another word, Red Son faceplanted in the dirt, dragging dirt over his head.

Xiaotian and Xiaojiao shared another worried look.

Oh boy...

Red Son stared at the scene in front of him. Finally, he had to speak.

“And, pray tell, do you want me to join this little...” He picked up one of the figurines. It looked like the Noodle Boy’s little sister, the real one glaring at him, except this figurine was dressed in white and blue. “Gaming session of yours?”

“Uh, because it’s fun?” The Dragon Girl handed him a figurine. Much to his displeasure (and secret amusement) it was of him. A little scowl on his face and all. “Come on... It’ll be fun!”

“That’s your opinion.” the pig demon said. The next moment, he winced as if she kicked him.

Red eyed the rest of the room. Sun Wukong didn’t seem to be paying attention, quietly whispering to the Noodle Boy’s sister. The Noodle Boy himself seemed to be unsure but was still smiling gently. The pig was rubbing his leg, whispering to the scholar.

“Fine.” He sat down at the table, resisting an urge to make a face at the cheap beer that was pushed over.

“Now that’s settled,” Wukong grinned from his place. “Let’s begin.”

not too much at all! i asked ppl to ask, anyway :)

D: is there a song/playlist to associate with W&W?

to be honest, there's nothing in specific! however I do listen to a lot of music while i write, specifically the caves and cliffs soundtrack (when I want instrumental) and a LOT of glass animals and los camp! I'd say you could safely associate Hot Sugar by Glass Animals, Your Love (Deja Vu) also by Glass Animals, By Your Hand - Los Campesinos!, and anything with a soft, silly lovesick vibe. Nothing too specific tho, since there are so many scenes and varying situations across the fic as a whole. i think id have to make a playlist for each chapter to accurately answer this question

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

OH GOD YES!!! I'm such a fool for silly flirting and sloppy love stories. little touches that sound so simple but they matter so much more than you could ever imagine. just small details and when things are referenced in later chapters and held onto by the characters AGH! it makes them so much more human because people hold on to things that the people they care for say and do and they flirt stupidly and they love so easily, but when it comes to forgiveness they hold on to it and never give it. Grudges and complex feelings that are described in great detail rather than just labelled as conflicting are also a personal favourite. I just love it when the characters feel more human than characters, when i can really relate

Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?

I do, actually! i don't think i could post any now because i may use them for a future AU or chapter for W&W! I'll post them once it's finished, i think

(TW: UNREALITY) i also have an old dream SMP fic that I've discarded. The prompt was that cc!dream and c!dream start to merge, as cc!dream begins to dream his dream smp plotline. He slowly starts to get "infected" by c!dream and starts to be unable to tell the difference between his world and the dream SMP and his friends have to help him get out of it. He keeps a dream journal throughout the story, but it starts to become more of a diary as it progresses. All of this happens with a DNF subplot. I abandoned it because i got tired of keeping up with the dsmp lore, and that was a huge part of the fic :')

R: Are there any other writers, fanfic or otherwise, that you consider an influence?

yes! my editor (@obsidianlightx3) is a huge influence since we've written stories and characters together for forever now. my favourite fic authors are tbhyourelame, TheeQwerty (DEAR GOD PLS READ INEFFABLE IF UR OKAY WITH NSFW IT WAS SO GOOD), and honestly anyone else who rlly gets into the nitty gritty with emotions and rough experiences. I love a cute storyline, but god, am i a sucker for some classic, emotionally overwhelming angst. regular book authors - my fav is Marie Lu, but i also read a lot of Agatha Christie, Rick Riordian, and i like to read a lot of classic greek myths (if that counts for anything).

S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?

YES YES YES!! avian grain, obvs. Mumbo just being a nervous wreck half the time and fidgety is also a fav of mine, also him being constantly covered in redstone. I also love anything the fandom does with Scar! god, all of the textpost memes where they put his little mc skin by it,,, so accurate. also hybrid hermits!!! i absolutely love the idea that nobody on the hermitcraft server is rlly fully human, i just find it so fun and will definitely be using that for a future fic (wink wink, nudge nudge)

A/N: Awww we’re serving soft Ezra today. I loved thinking about this! Also i am not my usual meme-self and I took this way too seriously but when do I not

Warnings: sick reader, loads of fluff for once, soft!Ezra, I think this is gender neutral but most of my work is i think maybe?? i hope so lol bc Ezra is a whole bisexual but child that’s another story

if you’re not feeling well in any capacity consider yourself a quadriplegic bc ur ass is not going anywhere or doing anything

Ezra loves with blinding fury and cares with his whole chest, so it absolutely breaks him to see you so suffer.

Ezra knows how to take it easy; he knows all the soft things to be enjoyed as he discovers them with you, like a butterfly that’s first exploring a forest.

He speaks softer and wills himself to do it much less. It’s difficult, it’s always difficult for him, but he wants you to be able to enjoy moments of peace like specks of white space in the scenery of your aching, screaming body.

He lays with you. He knows how powerful body language is, how energy and thoughts can travel from fingertip to fingertip, so he lets you crawl into his cot and burrow into the safety of his embrace. He’s always wanted you to feel safe.

Hearing your soft, pained whimpers make Ezra feel the most helpless he ever has, so often he’ll whisper sweet nothings in your ear. People that talk a lot tend to be better at saying those little fragments of words. Those sweet everythings.

“I’ll never abandon you, my brave firefly.”

“Oh stardust, don’t apologize for having moments of weakness. It’s the universe that’s culpable.”

“Why not rest with me, hm? You have my word that when you wake you’ll still be in my embrace.”

“You’re doing so good, sweet rose.”

Ezra is quick to adjust for dynamic situations; we see him think on his feet a lot, his tongue forged in silver and mind always racing. So he makes sure you tell him how your symptoms are progressing so he can act accordingly, because “these ailments will not decelerate for your sake, my starlight. Let me stay vigilant for you.”

If you get bored laying in bed all day, he reads to you. He is drawn to fantasy literature, words painting dreams and majesty, because “nothing real could ever be powerful enough to express how I love you in a manner that seems impossible.” He holds you with his body, his chest a pillow in which you can escape and your leg around his hip. His left arm rests in the dip where you neck greets your shoulder and his fingers hold the book open - learning to turn pages single-handedly was one the first things he ever adapted to. His voice is quiet, almost like the silence in the air is filling your ears, but it’s the sweet cherry drawl of your beautiful poet.

Ezra is, however, understanding if you don’t want him to touch you. When you’re febrile or suffering in a way so physical that if anyone where to touch you, you think you might die. But he won’t leave you alone; he never wants you to feel alone. So he’ll sit at the side of your cot, ready with a cold towel or an extra blanket or a vomit bucket and a head rub. Ready to take care of you at a moment’s notice. He’d wait a lifetime for for you to be ready to be touched again.

When he can, he is avidly researching your symptoms, trying to figure out the best way to treat you, because he’d rather die than be the reason you’re getting worse.

He’s absolutely weak for you, utterly soft and compliant, so when you’re begging him not to make you eat anything or drink any water he’s begging you back to please eat something, anything. While he’s at your mercy and could never force you, Ezra is a persistent man, and he eventually wears you down until you’re powerless to refuse him. Watching you drink water is probably the proudest he feels throughout your entire ailment because it makes him feel like he’s doing something. It makes him feel like he’s good for you.

And of course, he comes locked and loaded with forehead kisses and nose kisses and chin and neck and eyelid kisses. His lips are one of the primary ways that he physically shows his love.

His romances tend to be powerful bonds of mutual dependency; he needs you as much as you need him. So when you’re feeling “poorly,” Ezra pours his heart into making your feel right again. When you aren’t right, he isn’t either. He can’t be.

At the end of each day, when the Sun goes down and he decides to retire for the day, you can be rest assured that no one will ever love you as passionately Ezra. But that’s not the worst thing in the world, since he doesn’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon.

Do you still do Mysme requests? If yes, here's a fun one: how would the RFA gang respond to MC has their own cooking show (not a TV show per se, think Youtube channel like Rosanna Pansino)?

awe this is cute! i...really suck at cooking, but ill try my best with this lol ^^

YOOSUNG:

* When MC tells him about their Youtube channel, he’s so thrilled!

* He immediatly hops onto his computer, searching up their name and looking through their cooking videos. He actually learns a lot from their channel, and can’t wait to apply them in his own cooking!

* He’d absoloutely help MC think up new recipes and ideas, joining them at the kitchen on lazy days and baking/cooking together, even if the end-result isn’t always what they were going for

* When MC suggests Yoosung join their Youtube channel for an episode, he’s really flustered. Sure, he likes cooking, but him? On youtube?! He’s so embarassed!

* If he does agree to it (eventually, he will lol), he’s a flustered mess during the filming; if MC flirts with him/kisses him during the filming, he’ll honestly just drop like a jelly puddle on the floor lol

* That being said, he’s so proud of his MC, and will brag about them and their channel to all his online friends

* He’ll also often send photos of their cooking to the RFA, making everyone both jealous and hungry lol

ZEN:

* When MC told him they had a youtube channel, he wasn’t expecting it to be a cooking one-he knew MC makes amazing food and cakes, but he didn’t know there was a whole youtube community about it! (Yet again, im honestly just glad he knows what youtube is lol)

a synopsis. ok so for this gal, let’s all give a big, warm welcome to sadness ( no, i was in no way at all inspired by salem from sabrina for that line ) bc boy oh boy, her life has been constant grief and pain, tbh. strap in for the bumpy ride, i’ll give u cookies for compensation. OK SO, camille was abandoned as a baby, never did—and still doesn't—know her biological parents and she doesn’t want to either, tbh. she bounced around from foster home to foster home, never sticking in one place for too long. given her turbulent upbringing, she was somewhat of a difficult child. too boisterous, too unruly, too stubborn, too inquisitive. too much of everything but never enough of anything. never enough for anybody to want her. it didn’t take the girl too long to figure out that it was just her alone, against the big bad world. from the age that she was old enough to realise it, camille knew that she had to fend for herself—that she could never truly rely on a single soul but herself. the hollowness inside her chest never quite satiated, leaving her empty and only too well aware of the lack of her real parental figures. as a young adolescent, this started to crawl under her skin and mess with her mind. it rendered her void of affection and unable to form genuine bonds with others—filling her with deep-rooted resentment that festered beneath the surface of the indifferent demeanour she plastered over herself every day. she always felt starved of love: as if some integral part of her heart was missing, leaving a gaping void that nobody could ever fill. anywho, she fell in with the wrong crowd which did little to aid her foster families hostility toward her. truthfully, most of her experiences in various homes were ... not pleasant. she’d encountered abusive ‘parents,’ horrible ‘siblings,’ and even worse schooling days. pressing the self-destruct button is this gal’s speciality thus she found herself gravitating towards her vices: things and people she knew were no good for her. drink, drugs, people, you name it. quickly, she realised that these things were no longer any good at keeping her dark side at bay: she needed something more, something deeper. thus, she began going down the road of petty crimes—stealing cars, smashing windows, theft, setting fires both metaphorically and literally. due to this lifestyle, she wound up entangled with some real shady folk who did … even shadier things. most specifically, she started dating a real jackass who was violent and truthfully, a horrible person, really. stupidly, she decided to run off into the metaphorical sunset with him * insert eye roll emoji here. * so, fast forward a year or so and things took a swift nosedive when her lowlife boyfriend’s hands were round her throat and not in the kinky way. while she’d clawed at him and tried to fight him off, she struggled against his weight and strength until, eventually, she lifted the first makeshift weapon she felt: a rusted pair of scissors. [ TRIGGER FOR VIOLENCE, GORE, BLOOD, MURDER, DEATH ] and, in a blind state of panic, she jammed them right into his jugular vein, his blood squirting out and decorating her face in crimson splatters. he’d stumbled backwards, clutched onto his neck, blood spurting from the webs between his fingers. naturally, camille was shook about this but somehow managed to flee the scene with less guilt rattling her soul than she’d imagined. [ TRIGGER OVER ] in her mind, it was an act of self defence. it wasn’t too long after the incident that she found herself in a rather perilous situation that resulted in her sudden realisation that she needed to get her damn life on track. therefore, she done the responsible adult thing and got herself a decent education. somehow, she managed to get into university where her life started to shape into a positive one—the kind she’d always dreamed of. once she graduated, camille decided that she wanted to see the world. following a couple of years travelling, she wound up in santa ysabel where she quickly fell into the employment of mayhem. admittedly, this was a far cry from the future she’d envisioned when she was just a sweet, innocent lil child. still, all in all, she kind of digs who she is and what she is: after everything she’s been through, she loves herself. it’s been a long and winding road but camille finally believes that she’s settled in her life now. tho she still refuses to let people in, her abandonment issues terrifying her to the degree that she feels that anybody she’d ever let into her life would eventually leave her in the end. * insert sad face emoji here. *

favorite thing about them:

her goofy/upbeat personality! she’s got so much chaotic energy (she’s the definition of a goblin tbh) & just having her in a little bit of ‘tower of swallows’ & ‘lady of the lake’ made the books such a joy to read. from calling milva and regis auntie & uncle, to her loyalty to the hansa (she was the youngest of the hansa but still chose to go to castle stygga despite the risks), to her more complex side involving her issues w/ abandonment, she’s just a very interesting character & i thank sapkowski for making her so realistic. characters that are playful/funny/comedic relief with a dark or unhappy past are usually my faves & angouleme is no exception.

the fact that her life up until the hansa had been so shitty & awful, but she still chose to be funny & teasing & so full of life... like sure, i’m sure some of it was fake or an ingrained defense mechanism (bc if ur the ‘funny’ one then no one will think of u as a threat, rt? meaning u can be at an advantage if u decide to attack or, simply, it allows u to not be targeted by violence in general), but i also think she enjoyed her time w/ the hansa--that it was probably the most fun she had ever had w/ a group of ppl. & also the first time she really felt like she had found a family, a place in the shape of people that she could call a home... & mean it with all her heart.

tbh her & regis are my faves out of the hansa & it’s a shame she isn’t featured in any of the games or at least mentioned bc i know that she’d be a v popular character if she had been.

angouleme/milva!! their dynamic is /so/ good. i live for found family tropes & milva acting as an older sister to angouleme is just everything 2 me. i like to think that milva taught angouleme how to use a bow & hunt & kept an eye on her in the midst of battle bc angouleme is so /young/ & up until the hansa, she’s been on her own. milva probably saw a lot of angouleme in her headstrong younger self & wanted to be the adult/friend/family member that she needed when she was angouleme’s age ;v;

i wish angouleme & ciri had been able to get to know each other.... they’re both spunky kids around the same age who look alike. like can u /imagine/ the shenanigans they’d have gotten into? i could see them getting along immediately (& teaming up on teasing geralt lol) & pulling lil harmless pranks on the hansa. 10/10 good dynamic

i also like angouleme/regis bc regis is someone who i think would understand where angouleme is coming from the most tbh. they both had less than stellar ‘rebellious’ phases. angouleme, after escaping from the abusive orphanage w/ some of the other kids before ultimately joining an even worse thieves’ guild vs. regis who basically lead his own plasma gang after developing an addiction to blood & promptly got his ass handed to him by some rando villagers w/ pitchforks. anyway, that aside, regis is all for redemption arcs & after really getting to know angouleme, he becomes enamored w/ the idea of passing down whatever ‘wisdom’ he can abt addiction (esp since it’s implied that she might be addicted or at least dependent on fisstech to some degree), fighting, making alcohol, vampires, etc., so that she’s prepared for /anything/. tldr; angouleme as a protege to regis? good stuff rt there

APPEARANCE.

FACECLAIM: Abigail Cowen SEX: Female HEIGHT: 5′10 WEIGHT: 150 lbs. BUILD: Reedy, but hidden muscles from carrying the weight of the newspaper on her shoulders. HAIR: Red and naturally wavy. Is too lazy to straighten it so she’s just got long loose curls. Long, down to the small of her back. The kind of hair that when you roll down the windows actively attempts to suffocate you but she doesn’t want to cut it or pull it into a ponytail. So it’s either braided, in a bun, or down. Mostly down. HANDS: Delicate hands, but long fingers, like she should have been a piano player. SPEECH.

ACCENT: Barely there Southern/Carolina, only noticeable in certain words. LANGUAGE: English, some latin from books that her parents having laying around, but not fluent. More so can pick up certain words. ARTICULATION: Being a journalist she is extremely articulate and good at explaining her points. EDUCATION: Prefers direct language, but is at least vaguely aware of internet culture and uses memes. When texting refuses to use things like “u” or “ur” and will correct other people’s grammar and spelling. Has two extremely educated parents and it shows in her speech. LAUGHTER: Does not laugh often, mostly because she’s never had a reason to laugh, and is cautious of people. Her laugh is almost silent. BREATHING: Sighs. So much. All the time. HEALTH:

DIET: Both her parents like to try to eat extraordinarily healthy. They grow plants on their balcony. But they free range eat with no set meals so often Holly will either forget to eat or she will eat at Marie’s. Eats the leftover pastries at All Ground Up. SLEEP: Has not been sleeping well lately at all. Even before the nightmares started up she didn’t sleep very well, but now it’s gotten worse. The usual is 2 hours of sleep a night if she is lucky. EXERCISE: Spends most of her life slumped over the table typing but walks around on her feet during work. Is carrying Edwina around considered exercise? Because if so, she lifts. ACTIVITY: When she becomes dedicated to something she will exhaust herself doing it. CLEANLINESS: Showers every other day, keeps herself well groomed, and likes to have her life organized and put together. Most of the things in her desk are filed to a particular order even if that order makes no sense to anyone else. ODOR: Always kind of smells like essential oils because that’s what her house smells like. Specifically peppermint. MEDICINAL DRUGS: Attempted to take melatonin to help the sleep and nightmares but it is not doing much. ADDICTIONS: Caffeine ILLNESS: Insomnia, Night Terrors, Anxiety. Allergic to roses and some other flowers. INJURIES: The scar on her eyebrow hurts occasionally, but not much.

PERSONAL.

INTROVERT/EXTROVERT?: Introvert. She doesn’t mind having a voice in being in charge of the room, but she values her quiet independent time. She needs it to recharge. OPTIMIST/PESSIMIST: Realist, practical, assumes what’s going to happen is the most likely scenario that is going to happen and tries to look at it that way. GENDER: Female. Gender identity matches sex. SEXUALITY: ??? Possible Demisexual or somewhere on the ace spectrum. Holly views her sexuality as a bunch of question marks. It’s difficult for her to develop attraction for someone simply because she’s has a difficult time letting her guard down. ROMANTIC: Biromantic. See above in reference to difficulty letting her guard down enough to let people in. Would not mind a little bit of romance but much prefer something quiet, genuine, doesn’t even need to be public. There has to be wit and intelligence there. MEMORY: Has a memory like a steal trap. If she focuses on something she’s able to remember it relatively well. PLANNING: Probably plans too much about everything. There has to be a good throughout plan or she doesn’t want to follow through with anything. Extremely organized. INTUITION: Likes to think of herself as a sleuth when it comes to mysteries but can be rather ignorant when the truth does not meet her expectations. PROBLEM SOLVING: Loves puzzles and mysteries and uncovering the truth. Can become too focused on a problem when she thinks there is one to be solved. GOALS: To get out of Normal. Holly wants to find a way to leave this place and escape to a situation where no one knows who she is and she has the chance of starting over. Another goal would be to find a place where she feels like she fits in. INSECURITIES: Insecure about a lot, despite how much she hides. She’s always felt incredibly lonely her entire life, alienated, so she’s insecure about her place, especially amongst the murder club. Her writing (the poetry, not her journalism) she is insecure about as well because it is something that matters to her. ACHIEVEMENTS: Her newspaper. Every issues fills her with pride even if not everyone respects what they read. Won a lot of science fairs as a middle and grade schooler because of her parents. ANXIETY: So, so much. Her night terrors/dreams, the relationship she has with her parents, opening up and feeling human connection. SELF-HELP: Has seen a doctor for nightmares but the melatonin is not helping. COMFORTS: Warm blankets, fires, hot tea or hot coffee. Feeling warm and safe. And her stuffed dog Max which she tends to keep hidden from most people out of embarrassment. BAD HABITS: Drinking all the energy drinks and coffee she can, chewing on her pencils, erasures, and pens. PHILOSOPHY: Atheist, but understands the importance of religion in providing comfort to people, however she doesn’t think there is any proof of the existence of a God. TRIGGERS: Tight spaces. Neither of her parents ever explained why, but being in claustrophobic environments can cause her to panic. It likely has something to do with trauma she experienced growing up in the orphanages before she was adopted. She also can’t be crowded by too many things or people.

THE PAST.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS: Has no idea who her birth mother is, or where she was from, other than the fact that she was a young mother who felt she would be unable to raise a child appropriately. She was adopted by Maggie and Lizzie and taken to Normal when she was 3 years old. Holly loves both of her parents immensely and is fiercely protective of them, but ever since she became more skeptical of their beliefs their relationship has been somewhat strained. They are free range parents and there has never been much structure or rules in their household. In a lot of ways she raised herself. Lizzie is stricter than Maggie is but they both still don’t set rules like curfew. LIFE EVENTS: Once gave Norman Normal a love poem in Middle School and he read it in front of all of his friends. She was mortified and hasn’t really had a “crush” on anyone since then, at least not one she’s acknowledged. Growing up and having no friends also shaped her life because she doesn’t really know how to interact with people she wants to be affectionate towards. She also vividly remembers going hunting for ghosts in an old abandoned house with her parents. Maggie gave her the flashlight and told her to count how many times she saw flickers of light, because those were ghosts saying hello. WORST DAY OF THEIR LIFE: The day she realized the nightmares weren’t going away. They make her sick and scared and on edge, so nervous she sometimes lashes out. Realizing that there was no way to cure these and they would be happening for a long time to come crushed her. BEST DAY OF THEIR LIFE: The day the murder club showed up and started getting in her hair. Her first memory of walking into Marie’s with her moms and them telling her she could have whatever she wanted. She wasn’t used to that so she got three milkshakes and didn’t even finish one of them, got carried home and tucked into a bed that was hers and fell asleep around a brand new stuffed animal (Max). LOOKING BACK: Holly isn’t sure she would want to do anything different, because she feels like nothing in her life has ever been in her control. She didn’t get to choose to be given up at birth, or who she was adopted by. She feels like she’s never been in charge of her life.

RELATIONSHIPS.

FAMILY: Holly’s only family she knows are her moms. They are not particularly close with either of their parents. Maggie’s parents are both dead and Lizzie has a strained relationship she doesn’t discuss after they attempted to put her in conversion therapy growing up. She loves her moms, and they love her, but the more skeptic Holly has become the more strained that relationship is. More and more there’s a disconnect from them. They’ve always been a bit absentee. When she turned 13 they could finally leave her alone at home for extended ghost hunting weekend trips. FRIENDSHIPS: Growing up, with a name like Holly-Eve Knights, it’s not hard to imagine why she wouldn’t have friends. Most people labeled her the same as they did her parents and wrote her off as someone to be ignored or bullied. She has a hard time making connections but when she does they are ride or die. Holly is affectionate with her friends, albeit awkward as she fumbles her way through proper etiquette. She knows her parents probably hugged her way too much growing up so she has to fight that primal urge to hug a friend even if it makes her just as uncomfortable as it makes them. FRIENDS IN NEED: Holly’s new to this friend thing and she’s trying her best to figure out what’s the proper way to do anything. She offers her friend brute honesty regarding the situation and then offers for the two of them to figure it out together. Possibly with color coordinated highlighters. NEEDING A FRIEND: Tries to deal with her problems on her own because she isn’t used to relying on other people. She won’t outright reject other people’s help but she is very cautious in accepting of it unless she trusts the person explicitly. ANNOYANCES: She’s always been a bit too quick on her feet or to go on the offensive when it comes to retorts, but lately she’s been getting snippier and cattier than even she is comfortable with because of her exhaustion. ROMANCE: Relationship-curious would be a good word for it. She’s open to the idea of being in a relationship but it also scares her after the last brush with romantic affection left her humiliated. Supportive, but honest, would always make sure the person feels like they are wanted, heard, and acknowledged. However, has absolutely no idea how to woo anyone and is terrified to try. ADVERSARIES: Despite having a general distrust of other humans, you have to put in a lot of work for Holly to waste the energy into hating you. You would have to do something pretty heinous. ENEMIES: Anything to hurt her parents or her friends. Be a ghost and make her realize all her fears are a reality. STRANGERS: Respectful and quiet. Very reserved around strangers unless they say or do something she finds to be moderately offensive. FUN STUFF: Watching all the movies she never got to watch growing up, staying up for hours talking, would love a slumber party but would never vocalize that out loud DATING: Nothing too over the top. Flowers aren’t appreciated (she’s allergic to roses) and there’s no need for overt affections. She wants someone she can have an intellectual conversation with or go and watch a b-rated horror movie to make fun of the bad acting.

BEST FRIEND: TBD WORST ENEMY: The entire state of Florida

INTERACTIONS.

MINGLING: Is incredibly inept at making new friends and being around people as a general. Does not know what small talk is or is too aggressive in using it. COMFORT LEVELS: Feels okay talking to new people if there is a reason for it. She can socialize in class or work settings, even enjoys some of the people at the coffee shop she works at, but she’s almost always on edge around people. PHYSICAL: Is occasionally affectionate and even likes touch from other people under the right circumstances. Was comforted with physical affection growing up. GROUPS: As comfortable in a group as she is in any social situation. Awkwardly accepting of this. OPENNESS: Takes an incredibly long time to open up to someone about the aspects of her life she deems to be more relevant than others. GENEROSITY: Is incredibly generous to the best of her ability. She likes buying her friends food, bringing them drinks, and seeing them smile. JEALOUSY: Jealousy is a strange emotion and one she is not usually prepared to handle. Most of the time growing up she felt jealous about people who lived relatively normal lives, not having to go on ghost hunts with her parents or man the crystal and oil shop they have downstairs and pretend like everything was haunted just to get people to buy. She’s jealous of people who are good at making connections and opening themselves up. TEMPER: There are certain buttons you can press that are an immediate flare, but otherwise she tends to be pretty level headed if not unnecessarily sarcastic. EMPATHY: Awkwardly empathetic. Holly understands people emotions but has a difficult time knowing what to do with that empathy and how to place it properly. AFFECTION: Gentle things. Occasional gifts without thought, gentle touches, generally making that person feel important and needed. Once she opens up Holly is an incredibly kind person, it just takes some time for her to open up. Like a cherry pit to a cherry blossom if you will. DISTASTE: Arguments, biting words, purposefully hitting places that she knows are inappropriate. ETIQUETTE: Her borderline hippie parents didn’t teach her much about etiquette so she has no idea what spoon goes where. If she’s not wearing sneakers she just doesn’t wear shoes, even if the situation likely calls for shoes. RESPONSIBILITY: Doesn’t like being wrong, but is willing to admit when she was the one who made the mistake. Will make others take ownership for their contribution in the mistake as well. SELF ESTEEM: Has incredibly low self-esteem but does her best to mask it. Being so socially and emotionally isolated she always lingered onto the feeling that the must be something wrong with her. CONFIDENCE: As much as she hates to admit it, Holly still cares what people think about her. HONESTY: Brutally and perhaps inappropriately honest sometimes. LEADER OR FOLLOWER: Leader. Has a difficult time taking orders. Would do well in a second in command position, but she’s the editor of the newspaper so she’s used to being in charge. PRAISE: Is incredibly awkward when it comes to accepting compliments. Does not know what to do with the compliment and might assume there is an ulterior motive to it. FAILURES: Probably a lot. The unwavering skepticism, a barbed tongue, the lack of filter as a general. She also loves to be right which can rub people the wrong way. CRITICISM: Takes criticism okay. Open to growing as a person but does initially find it difficult to swallow. INSULTS: Quick to bite back with something equally as insulting and then regret it a few hours down the road. EMBARRASSMENT: Fluttered, not embarrassed. There are very few things that can make Holly feel like she is embarrassed but once you unlock them she’s about as red as her hair. FLIRTING: Does not know how to flirt. Does not know if someone was flirting with her. ATTENTION SPAN: Used to have an easy time concentrating but with the nightmares it’s been harder and harder lately. SITUATIONS: Depends on the context of the social situation if she’s good at it or not. In tense situations often is able to keep a level head but if someone is asking if their outfit looks good Holly might implode.

LIFE.

DUTY: Runs the newspaper, works at All Ground Up, and whenever her parents are out of town is obligated to help run their shop as well. TECH: Decent at modern day technology, mostly out of necessity though, since neither of her parents own a computer. POLITICS: Incredibly strong convictions when it comes to human rights and people. Please don’t read her article from election season. or maybe do if you’re into some light masochism. COMBAT SKILLS: Probably very scrappy in a fight. Has never had the reason to fight but is very fast on her feet when it comes to running. HOME: Her room is more organized than the entire household she lives in. The little space is full of bins that she has carefully labeled in her own head. DAILY LIFE: Lately has felt very out of her depth. The nightmares are starting to consume her entire entity and purpose and it’s starting to frighten her. INDEPENDENCE: Very independent thanks to incredibly flaky (albeit well meaning) moms. COOKING: Is better with drinks than cooking, but being a barista gives her certain talents. Good at following recipes and a quick learner, but it isn’t a passion. BUILDING: Absolutely cannot put shit together. Is hilariously bad at it but thinks she would be great. CLEANING: There aren’t any chores in the Knights household, but she’s the one cleaning up most of the messes her parents make. Someone has to clean the pig’s blood up off the dining room floor. SHOPPING: Does not usually go shopping, but when she does she likes thrift store finds because they can be repurposed and used in a variety of different ways. DRIVING: Yes she can drive and her broken old as dirt minivans name is Velma. FINANCES: Both her mother’s are incredibly talented Doctors of differing sciences with a few books written each, however outside of that they don’t get much money coming their way. She lives comfortably enough, but doesn’t like to talk about her money and is uncomfortable taking it from her parents when she feels at any moment their ghost hunting business could go tits up. So she works to help pay for the things she wants. PETS: Was given a pet rosy boa named Lilith for a birthday one year. She loves her long danger noodle. TRAVELING: Would nothing more than to get out of Normal and go as far as the west coast. Has gone with her parents on a few crazy ghost hunts and visited “haunted” places. Fell in love with the West because of those visits. MEDICAL: Has become a frequent visitor of the doctor given her need for any form of sleep aid. ILLNESS: Night terrors and anxiety. Panic attacks when confronted with claustrophobia WORRIES: Everything keeps her awake at night. Literally. The demonic nightmares are the biggest part though. She worries that she is going crazy and doesn’t understand if there is something in her family that would make this happen, her biological family. She doesn’t know anything about them so she sits and worries a lot about how they might affect her one day. PEACE: Appreciates the silence immensely because that’s what she’s used to. PARTYING: Has never once in her entire life been to a party. HOBBIES: Enjoys writing poetry in her spare time, when she’s not writing papers. Occasionally volunteers at the animal shelter to pet the kitties and the doggies.

6. Why are you no longer together with your ex?We work better as friends, its less stressful.

7. If you had to choose one way to die what would it be?See I’m really torn with this question. Part of me thinks itd be nice just to go in my sleep, with a heart attack or something. Its quick and painless you know.But equally I wonder if it would be better to maybe, like, have something where I knew I was gonna die. Because then I’d have time to try and do everything on my bucket list and say goodbye to everyone. Also maybe at that point I’d welcome death lmao.
