Whew, I have to admit, it’s good. Better than all the remakes.
Spoilers below, but here are my thoughts/theories:
Kelly is not Karen, have we learned nothing guys? Marlene’s game is red herrings everywhere in the beginning. My guess is she is actually happy Karen is dead, having lived in her shadow. I could definitely see her being a nemesis, but she’s still a wild card for me.
On that note, Kelly’s mom has to have been bullied by Imogen’s. She seems to be withdrawn (maybe she knows her husband is cheating/gay?), maybe she was close with Angela. I am assuming most of the adults went to HS together. How wild if Karen’s dad was also Imogen’s?
Would Wes have been in HS with them all too?! He is so sus. I do love that this time around, Tabitha knows what he is doing and recognizes the manipulative tactics he’s using on her.
Imogen’s pregnancy is such a strange plot direction for me. There’s no way there’s going to be a baby on this show? But then, I am not sure what will happen there. Identifying the dad has to be a huge reveal, otherwise we’d know?
Unrelated to plot but what the fuck is with the fashion?! Imogen’s Spirit Queen outfit was such a let down for me. The old PLL was mostly fashionable for its time.
I LOVE that Minnie “Mouse’s” mom is played by Lea Salonga AKA Princess Jasmine!
Finally, A. The jump scares and camera slanting were so scary for me lmao. The shed next to the school- um?! has anyone found the janitor yet? Why is it still up if no one uses it? I think it’s just one A right now. It has to be Angela, Angela’s sibling, an ex, idk. Or someone from this generation connected to Angela in some way.
Lmk what you think/add in my inbox :)

tagged by @sergeantpixie tysm 💕 name: S is what I generally go by here although I’ll slip and say my first name on occasion and it’s not a big deal but I’m still most comfortable primarily going by this here teehee. My pinterest is under my first name, my goodreads which is irl friendly in theory is under my full name + my real face, if we’re moots who talk at all I’m comfortable giving out profile info in private message and also you probably know my first name anyway
pronouns: she/her
where do you call home: depends on the time of year during school it’s NY otherwise it’s either my Aunt’s home in Pakistan or my Dad’s home in Chicago
favorite animal: in concept I have the softest spot for cats I really want one of my own at some point, but my cousin has labradors and I adore them
cereal of choice: my actual favorite is frosted mini wheats but I tend to get plain Cheerios, which I also like.
visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner: a mixture of visual and tactile or kinesthetic I’d say. Actually I best learn things by physically writing them down a bunch, when I’m taking notes in class it is to some degree for reference but it’s more important for internalizing what we’re talking about.
first pet: a goldfish I won in a state fair in 1st grade (I got lucky in ring toss) I named him firecracker. I kept him alive for 2 years actually which isn’t bad.
favorite scent: my usual perfume is poison girl by dior which was a gift from my Aunt for my 19th birthday so I’ve had it for a while and it is getting closer to being finished… but in general my favorite scents tend to be fruity or citrusy (my current body wash is pomegranate and my current shampoo bar is lemongrass-y and I love both) also partial to lavender and rose scents.
do you believe in astrology: I think it’s fun and there could be some truth to it and I like it but I wouldn’t go to bat for it as factual by any means, that being said I am a taurus sun sag moon cap rising and I do think that fits pretty well, whether it’s adaptive or not xd. I mostly just enjoy personality tests I’m more into Mbti than zodiac though
how many playlists do you have on your music service of choice: I have a lot of fandom related playlists public on my Spotify account for different chars and dynamics mostly, I have a few more randomized personal playlists that are private
sharpies or highlighters: colored gell pens xd I use them for literally everything when I’m writing and not typing. between the two I prefer highlighters
song that makes you cry: I feel like with a lot of songs that depends on the mood I’m in but Smother by Daughter never fails to devastate me completely
song that makes you happy: again it depends but one that comes to mind is Paper Doll by Frankie.
and finally, do you write/draw/create: yes writing is one of my concentrations in school xd so yeah I write mostly short stories, some poetry, have come up with ideas/outlines for bigger projects but never followed them through as of yet. I’ve also written some fic I wrote a bunch over quarantine for a few fandoms but then orphaned them, and then I briefly returned to it Summer before last to write this Pll fic: https://archiveofourown.org/works/40940655
I have other fic writing ideas for Pll and other fandoms but again don’t know that I will follow through with them ever or I could who knows truly
tagging: @lovemeafteryou @pinkhysteria @drusilllas @retiredficwriter @louisminyard @myhouseofivyandstone anyone else who wants to do it and also if you don’t want to do it totally cool <3

Some random initial thoughts about episodes 4 and 5 of PLL OS:
Minnie "Mouse"
- I immediately assumed she would be pulling a 'Hard Candy' with the dude, but apparently she's running some type of therapy scenario for people who have missing children?
- The general agreed upon theory on Mouse backstory is that she went missing for awhile and these new episodes keep going in that direction.
Tabby
- it feels like Tabby is starting to release her anger more and that's pretty enjoyable to see. I wanted her to full on beat the shit out of Greg and/or Tyler, but breaking Tyler's nose was good too.
- The Wes and Chip stuff. I don't know what the deal is for Wes other than him wanting to be involved with Tabby. Like what's his overall point in the show? Tabby already has trauma and tells Wes off, so what's his purpose for still being alive on the show? Idk. Chip, I really feel like he's the one who assaulted Tabby. He gives off the same vibe as Beaver from Veronica Mars.
-Tabby and her many movie references but the Chucky quote/mention while Imogen was having her emotional breakdown about her and mom and everything just took the cake. LOL! Tabby got to chill way out with the references.
Marjorie/Noa's Mom
- I hope actually does dispose of her. Not just for being a jumpy, blame passing bitch in the past but for being one in the present as well. The fuck is wrong with her? She jumped with the quickness to say the pills the Sheriff found weren't hers. Marjorie is so quick to allow Noa to take additional blame if it means she doesn't get caught. I can't even be mad that A made Noa snitch. Marjorie deserved it.
Imogen
- I like that she's still investigating because some of the other girls kinda forgot or just wanted to put A behind them because they went two weeks with no new messages from him. Completely nuts for them to consider it as an option to forget about it. Also for Imogen this is the only way she can process her mom's death and her own unsure future.
-I know she has a lot going on but I'm surprised she didn't question why one of her moms former school mates denied having any knowledge of Angela or the og 5, but snitched to Sidney about the investigation later. Like that should have been a major red flag for her. But at least she found one source willing to help.
- so Imogen most likely did get assaulted and became pregnant because of it. Apparently it happened the same night as Tabby's assault. That's fucking rough
- I don't think the girls thought out the whole "Imogen can take over th house payments!" plan. I know they didn't think it out. No way that one Halloween party in their small ass town will allow Imogen to make monthly mortgage payments.
A
- okay, so it's very telling that A doesn't break locks to get into the house but instead uses the keys. Very telling. Telling what? No clue.
-So going back to one of my previous posts, it does appear A is a renegade killer based on his last victim. He's not sticking to a planned target or group of targets. But his killings aren't random either.
Faran
- I'm nervous about her plot because they got her looking crazy for this Karen = Kelly stuff. But I do like how the writers predicted that is the direction the fanbase would go with the twins. It's a total red herring.
-How many times is she going to be knocked out of this damn ballet? She lost the Odille part twice already! Girl, just go to Pittsburgh with your mom and get into a good dance school.
- More Tabby/Faran scenes are needed. I very much enjoyed their interactions. Faran's taunt to Kyle and Greg after Tabby punched Kyle was hilarious. I love her so much.
Kelly
- The Kelly stuff is all 'Single, White Female' about Karen. She wants to take her place and A's involvement gave her the opportunity.
- This finally proves, for me, that Kelly and A aren't working together. Kelly doesn't seem responsible for Karen's death. It's clear that she is willing to take Karen's place as the main twin now.

Wait did you notice that on the pll original sin opening scenes that mouse's missing poster says she was born in 1992 so i have a theory since they said that angela waters was sexually assaulted before she killed herself what if mouse is Angela's daughter also the theme song kinda matches kelly and karen beasly 2 can keep a secret if one of them is dead so they might have a secret
So my original theory was that Mouse was born in '92 and was actually Elodies younger sister who was kidnapped and lost her teenage years so they now pretend Mouse is her daughter to give her a chance to live the years that was taken away from her but I think the 1992 was just them alluding to her "helping" parents who lost their kids cause we don't know when Rachel went missing or any of the other kids so some could have been recent disappearances while some have probably been missing for decades
I do think Angela gave birth the night she died but now knowing the big secret was that Elodie had her through a surrogacy I don't believe it's Mouse, cause she would be aware that she is roughly 6 years older than she is supposed to be (if it was a year or two they could pull it off but the age difference is just too big).
I saw an interesting theory that Madame Ciry is actually Rose waters after she got out from Radley and that Wes is Angela's son.
The Beasley's definitely have a secret (besides sheriff taking advantage of teenagers). I think sheriff is the one who SA'd Angela and got her pregnant.
My current theory before tomorrow's finale is that killer A is Wes and texting A is Chip cause we know Wes and Chip are friends which makes that dynamic plausible (and I know in the pilot we saw Wes seeing killer A from the car with Tabby but I think that Chip was pretending to be killer A to give Wes an alibi but notice how Wes a horror movie buff was completely unphased by someone resembling leather face on the side of the road near the woods in the middle of the night and even wanted to fight him, he knew it was Chip and wanted to play hero in front of Tabby) and A killing Karen was his way of hurting the sheriff because he knows he is his father.
Rose waters has to fit in there somewhere so I believe Wes was put up for adoption, after Rose got out of Radley she went and found him and told him who he was and what happened to his mom and this set him out on revenge and recruited Chip who has a psycho nice guy complex to be his eyes and ears at the school.

The Key Life Of Brass Snake
Cut off a sleeve from the scale sixteen sweatshirt. Pin sample on burgundy felt, and minimize out. Keep this in thoughts and choose a high quality 3×3 for yourself, not some random rip-off at a dollar retailer because it should wreck your cubing expertise. Experience is the perfect teacher. Homemade soup tastes finest when you'll be able to make it the correct manner. Progresso soup tastes similar to homemade soup however it’s quicker to prepare. We test completely different hyper-parameters just like the variety of layers, number of models in a layer, studying charge, weight decay, dropouts, normalization, and many others. inside a feasible range.
The RIF6 Cube is no longer on sale at any major retailers, so it appears like its out of production. The corporate ran afoul of the music business and its major commerce organization, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), which tried to sue Napster out of existence for copyright infringement, however the corporate struggled on for a short time in litigation. If you find that an excessive amount of ran down your slender fingers don’t fret. Next, drop down two lines and describe who's within the scene and what they're doing. Cubing offers a context for folks to grow into their best selves: not by fixing a cube faster, however by constructing better relationships with individuals who happen to solve cubes. If you happen to intend to go for recent herbs, it’s best so as to add them at the top, for dried ones work best when the soupy water begins to boil. Replacing them with the refined ones. But are all ‘hedgehog’ companies great corporations? In a single chapter, he says that all nice companies are ‘hedgehogs’. For example, the ‘confirmation bias’ says that we are typically very biased toward ideas/evidence that confirms our beliefs and notion of the world.
It’s not so easy to get a wise viewpoint within the brief run, as we're always pushed to go further, but when we wish to do properly, clear perception of fact is a should. A cognitive bias is a error that folks will do over and over, till they get aware of it and intentionally change the behavior pattern. There are more guidelines for screenwriting format, but these will get you began. Lots of them assure to teach you easy methods to get your business to prosper. You’ve finally began what you are promoting. A superb instance many enterprise guide critics cite is the ebook ‘Good to Great’ by Jim Collins. The first cube out of the Guoguan division of Moyu, this is a mid-priced mannequin that gets high marks for a robust combination of excessive pace and good control preferrred for newbies. I don’t assume so, in a period when win-win-win organization model is proved to be much more rewarding and belief gaining.
Especially prior to now few months, people have grow to be extra info-hungry on this subject. Most of them have very little or none evidence to confirm the worth of the content material A lot of the theories they characteristic might be empty ideas of the author. This worth perform can then be mixed with MCTS to find roughly optimal conformations. You will see that a great deal of business books on the market. Therefore, if I can cut back my times by the quantities above, I'll theoretically have the ability to execute a 4-second OLL and a 4-second PLL, or, in complete, an 8-second last layer. As shown in Table 2, a model trained without domain randomization can achieve completely low errors in simulation but fails dramatically on actual world data. Both types of models generally required fewer samples to reach the identical level as model sizes increase. Apple has additionally launched a new white coloration option for the Magic Keyboard alongside the 2021 iPad Pros, however bear in mind that the 2020 Magic Keyboard for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro doesn't fit the 2021 model perfectly. A Rubik’s cube is solved when every cubie on every face is similar color as the rest of the cubies on that very same face (i.e. every face is similar colour).

THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS ENDGAME
It is bittersweet that I present to you my last ever theory for Pretty Little Liars. I apologise in advance for the insane length, but this is covering all those frustrating loose ends across the entire series. I hope you can make it to the end so we can discuss. My only fear for this theory is that it is too daring and gutsy; it would re-define the show we thought we knew. Are the writers willing to ‘go there’ in just 10 episodes? I don’t know! Regardless if this is all right, partially right, or so damn wrong, I hope you have as much fun reading this as I did putting this together the past two months! For the last time before the show ends... I hope you enjoy!
ALISON DILAURENTIS
The one storyline that was never confirmed, but was constantly teased throughout the show, is that Alison deliberately faked her death. This story is making a comeback in 7B because the entire show (pre time jump) centres around it.
How do we know Ali was planning to do this?
She was blackmailing Hector Lime for hundreds of dollars and Byron for thousands of dollars - no ordinary 15 year old needs such large sums of money.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 4B, we see Ali doing everything in her power to get more money: she was asking Shana for money, and even Emily tried sending cash to her. Ali was fretting for money whilst on the run. So clearly, there is the evidence that her scamming money off people in the early seasons was to aid her plan of faking her death.
Tumblr media
Also throughout the series, we hear Ali’s mysterious comments, including:
- you're going to miss me when I'm gone, - I’m writing my diaries for you so that you can carry on when I’m gone, - haven't you ever wanted to die in a mysterious way and leave a beautiful corpse? - you were the hardest to leave behind.
WHY DID ALI WANT TO FAKE HER DEATH?
To find out who A is. She had been receiving messages from A/Mona for quite some time and she wanted this to stop. If A/Mona thinks Ali is dead, the threats will stop, which would buy Ali time to find out who exactly is her harasser. We know Ali was determined to find out who A is: she spent ‘that night’ walking around Rosewood crossing people off her suspects list. Also, whilst dressed up as Vivian Darkbloom, she said “I’m watching someone”. Faking her death would be just another way to narrow down her A-suspects completely.
CHARLOTTE AND ALISON’S RELATIONSHIP
Charlotte and Alison are the two most important characters of the show. An alternative name for PLL could be TAACS - The Alison And Charlotte Show. Their friendship began in Cape May one summer, as Charlotte revealed in 307, and they’ve been extremely close ever since.
Tumblr media
That summer, they bonded and they naturally realised their personal similarities. The way they look, walk and talk, and also shared Jessica as a ‘mother’ (Jessica raised Charlotte like we saw in 610, although Mary gave birth). Charlotte confided in Ali that summer and revealed to her that she was born as Charles, transitioned to Charlotte, and that she is the daughter of her aunt. So at Cape May that summer, Charlotte revealed to Ali that they are first cousins.
I know this because of what Charlotte told the girls when she first met them in 307: “our families rented summer homes in Cape May. We went through an intense couple weeks together.”
Well, Charlotte and Ali are family. The “intense” part about it was Ali’s learning of the existence of the Drakes. Besides, Charlotte did tell the girls in 307 that “Ali was going through such a rough time. Like a broken doll”. Well, it must be hard to learn of family you never knew you had.
Charlotte had never met Mary, as Mary confirmed in 7A. In 707 Charlotte asks Jenna “did you find my birth mother?” This is not the same as “did you find out who my birth mother is?” That summer, Charlotte was with her biological father (discussed later) when they rented summer homes at Cape May.
Ali never mentioned me to you guys? asked Charlotte. No, replied the girls. Charlotte is Ali’s secret friend throughout the series; the one who gave Ali that anklet in 306.
Throughout 6A we see Ali asking her father “who is Charles DiLaurentis?” She already knew the answer, and was only asking her father because the girls forced her. By asking her father who is Charles, she at least has an honest answer to report back to the girls. Of course she tries to throw the girls off, by acting sad at the news Charles is dead.
CHARLOTTE WAS HELPING ALISON FAKE HER DEATH
Friends/family that are this close tell each other everything. I mean, Alison thought Wilden got her pregnant and her instant reaction was to seek Charlotte’s help. (Wilden is beach hottie, almost confirmed by Charlotte in 320 when she said Ali thought Wilden was cute.) Clearly these girls are very close. So when Alison was about to pull off the most elaborate stunt she has ever attempted, she needed someone’s help. And who better to ask than Charlotte Drake.
Charlotte was Ali’s partner in crime; she was driving her around town as she executes her plan of faking her death. Here, Charlotte was Ali’s get-away ride from Hector Lime’s mask shop after she had just scammed money off him.
Tumblr media
BETHANY YOUNG
In order to fake a death there needs to be an actual dead body, right? Bethany Young was the person that both Ali and Charlotte agreed will take Ali's place in the grave.
Out of everyone in Rosewood... why Bethany Young? It all comes back to the affair between Jessica and Mr Young, which is proving to be critical to the storyline. Alison was aware of the luxury that Bethany was getting from Jessica - Jessica bloody bought Bethany a horse named Custard, and signed her out of Radley to go riding. Was Ali getting such attention and affection? No. Jealousy drove Ali to want Bethany dead. Maybe then, Jessica will focus on her real daughter, end the affair and restore the DiLaurentis family. It may sound extreme to want Bethany dead over this, but Alison did need a body to take her place in the grave: it makes sense to use the girl whose death would bring a self-benefit, than to use a random girl off the street.
What Ali didn’t know is that Jessica wasn’t “slutting it up” with this affair. Jessica had her own agenda to fulfil by seeing Mr Young.
One day at work, Jessica accidentally pushed (perhaps bumped) Marion Cavanaugh off the roof at Radley, which Bethany saw. (A flashback here would be ideal: maybe the two had an argument and it wasn’t an accident?)  Jessica paid Wilden to rule Marion's death a suicide, but that wasn’t enough to cover up her deadly mistake: she still had her witness, Bethany, to worry about. The affair with Mr Young was Jessica’s way of keeping close tabs on Bethany, ensuring she doesn’t say a word about what she saw. “I love your dad, and if you tell anyone what you saw, your dad will get upset. I know you like horses... if I take you out of Radley every now and then, will you promise not to tell anyone what you saw?”
Jessica was so determined to get some bonding time with Bethany, that she had to pose as her aunty in order to sign her out, hence Jessica asked Bethany call her “Aunt Jessie”. Many people think that Jessica forcing Bethany to call her Aunt Jessie is almost confirmation that Bethany is Mary’s daughter. However, the guy who works at the horse stable told Spencer and Emily that “I knew they weren’t related. There was something else going on”. That “something else” was Jessica bribing Bethany to shut up about what she saw on the roof. Thanks for the clue that they’re not actually related, writers.
Tumblr media
These are Bethany’s drawings. This is how the girl spends her free time: drawing Jessica in a negative way. Clearly, Bethany hates Jessica; she sees her as a killer.
Tumblr media
The 'liar' signifies Jessica having Marion’s death ruled a suicide, and also Jessica’s bribery towards Bethany (with horses) to not tell anyone the truth.
The horns represents Jessica being the devil, as she killed Marion.
And, of course, the drawing of someone falling from the roof speaks for itself.
According to Charlotte, Bethany pushed Marion and blamed her for it. If Bethany truly did it and wanted to get away with it by blaming Charlotte, Bethany wouldn’t be drawing and glorifying her deadly action for Radley staff to see. Instead, she should be acting like it was so tragic what ‘Charlotte’ did. Or even, play dumb like she doesn’t know it happened. Clearly, the plot hole in the timeline exists because Charlotte lied: she wanted the liars’ sympathy so she said that she took the blame for it. The truth is that Jessica did it. Besides, Jessica is clearly authorised as she worked at Radley. I guess we can also clear the ‘plot hole’ of young patients being on the roof alone at midnight, haha.
Tumblr media
How could we forget Bethany’s recordings: "she's a bitch. An evil bitch!" She's talking about Jessica, as Spencer said in 512 (clue from the writers). She’s an evil bitch for killing Marion and bribing her to not tell anyone what she saw. Of course, because Jessica paid Wilden to rule it a suicide, no one believed the Radley-patient’s claims that Jessica is an “evil bitch”.
Bethany was Ali and Charlotte’s target that night. They wanted to use her body in Ali’s grave, so Ali can fake her death. So how do they get Bethany to Rosewood? She was just a couple letters away. Little does Bethany know, that once she arrives in Rosewood wearing the yellow top that Alison gave her, she will be killed in the place of Ali.
Tumblr media
“Did I already thank you for the clothes in my last letter? If not, thank you times a million. Yellow is my favourite colour.” I get goosebumps reading this. Alison was getting ready to kill someone.
As confirmed by Marlene, Charlotte swapped Bethany’s dental records to be Ali’s. (Don’t ask how. She’s the intelligent Big A.) It was also Charlotte that deliberately put the Alison bracelet on Bethany’s dead body, as they needed Bethany to be identified as Alison.
THAT NIGHT:
Mona sent the below text to Ali that night - Mona wanted to kill Ali. However, because Ali had arranged for Bethany to wear the same yellow top, Mona got confused and hit the wrong blonde. Mona killed Bethany instead (of Ali), which is exactly what Ali and Charlotte wanted to do.
Tumblr media
(Minor side note: Mona never knew that she killed Bethany - she always thought she hit Ali and that Ali was later pulled out by someone. “When I hit her, all I could hear was every awful thing Ali ever said to me. But if CeCe hit Ali... Bethany had blonde hair and she was dressed just like Alison. I killed an innocent person”. It wasn’t until 610 when Charlotte confessed to hitting Ali, that Mona realises she hit Bethany instead.)
"Did I get everything you need?" Mona asked Ali at the Lost Woods Resort, signifying Ali indeed was planning on faking her death as she had a runaway kit at the ready.
Charlotte hit Ali thinking she was hitting Bethany; thinking she was helping Ali fake her death. This is major. That was quite the mess, as it’s the opposite of what they had planned... Ali wanted to FAKE her death, not be killed! Thankfully Mrs Grunwald and then Mona came to Ali’s rescue, and she was alive.
However the problem was that Charlotte didn't know Ali had 'faked' her death - Charlotte thought Ali was legitimately dead. She hit her, and Jessica/Mary buried her! Looks pretty dead. Once Charlotte began seeing a blonde in a red coat, Charlotte became suspicious that Ali may be alive. (Marlene has confirmed on Twitter that the below was indeed Ali.)
Tumblr media
Hence Charlotte organised the events at the lodge to find out if Ali is alive. By putting the girls in what seems to be a dangerous situation, Ali may come out of hiding to save the girls.
Clarification on what happened the night of the lodge fire:
Melissa sent Jenna and Shana to keep an eye on Spencer and also to find out who Spencer was going to meet - potentially Alison. Melissa needed to know if Ali is alive, because if she is, that means she buried an innocent person, and she may begin to see the repercussions.
Little did Melissa know, that Jenna and Shana had their own agenda. They were only accepting Melissa’s orders out of fear, as Mona confirmed in 401 (”they’re both afraid of Melissa”). Melissa’s orders to protect Spencer and see if Ali is alive went in one ear and out the other.
Shana lit the fire thinking Alison is inside, thinking she’s getting justice for The Jenna Thing (on behalf of Jenna whom she fell in love with).
Wilden was with Jenna and Shana, as he too wanted Ali dead because if she came home alive, he will get in trouble for doing dirty work as a cop (accepting Jessica’s bribery money to stay quiet on Charlotte hitting Ali).
So Charlotte killed Wilden, for Ali’s sake, and her own sake, as Wilden will throw Charlotte under the bus for Ali’s ‘murder’.
Melissa told Spencer in 404 that “Jenna and Shana didn’t light the fire, it was Wilden. They saw him”. Little did Melissa know that Jenna and Shana lied. They were merely trying to save their own assess; blame the dead guy for their own actions.
Below, we see the alliance forming between Jenna, Shana and Wilden. They all wanted Ali dead.
Tumblr media
Another problem that night, was that Mona saw Ali... the exact person Ali was trying to escape from by faking her death (but didn’t know it). Ali did learn that Mona is A whilst on the run, however. So although Charlotte hit her, she did achieve her goal of faking her death nonetheless. In 212, Emily asked Ali if she knows who A is, to which Ali says “of course I do”. The confidence in that response... it’s almost like “the amount of effort I went through in order to find out... I faked my own death, Emily. Of course I know”. Ali believes Mona is weak, less superior, and won’t hurt the girls, so telling them won’t do them much.
GETTING AWAY WITH BETHANY’S MURDER
Although Charlotte and Ali didn't actually commit the murder of Bethany that they had longingly planned, they needed to ensure that no one finds out about their intent to murder Bethany. If the police knew about Ali (and Charlotte’s) desire to kill Bethany, simple connection of the dots would say that Ali planned on faking her death and that Ali was NOT kidnapped. Faking your death is illegal, and so Ali creates the kidnapping story to play the victim.
So, how exactly did they plan on saving themselves?
One day whilst Alison was on the run, she met a guy named Cyrus Petrillo. In 510, Cyrus expresses that he and Ali used to have “so much fun together”. I mean, they were holding hands at one point. They genuinely liked each other.
Tumblr media
Then Cyrus figures out Alison’s true intention of their relationship: Ali was planning to blame Cyrus for her kidnapping. He was furious at being used like this, and so he stabbed her in the thigh. That’s what the fight was about.
“There’s a warrant out for my arrest. That wasn’t part of the deal we made. I could’ve told the police the truth about you [not being kidnapped, and faking your death]. How we met. All the fun we had together.” - says Cyrus in 510.
Ali hands Cyrus a passport and a plane ticket. It’s like Ali has a load of these just laying around the house.
Ali just got this guy charged for her kidnapping. She sends him away, so that he can escape the charges. It’s a win-win for both of them: he flees, and Ali gets away with faking her death by intending to kill Bethany.
How else did they plan to be safe?
Alison was getting flirty with Detective Holbrook at the exact time Bethany's murder was high on the Rosewood Police's agenda. Getting close with Holbrook may allow her the inside-scoop as to the police's latest theories on Bethany's murder. Ali was keeping tabs on him and therefore keeping tabs on Bethany’s case. If worse comes to worse and Holbrook latches on to Ali’s intent to kill Bethany, because they are supposedly “in love”, Ali may be able to lie her way out of it. Ultimately, Ali wanted to make sure her kidnapping story was being believed.
Tumblr media
In the event the police do latch on to Alison's plan to murder Bethany, she had her Holly Varjack passport (which Spencer found in her house in 513) at the ready, to flee the country. Alison gave Charlotte a passport in 501 to flee the country for Wilden's murder. That parallelism tells us that Ali and Charlotte are willing and prepared to leave the country for murder, in the unlikely event they become suspects in Bethany’s murder.
Again, although Ali and Charlotte didn’t actually kill Bethany (Mona did), Ali’s priority is to ensure no one knows she planned on faking her death; she needs everyone to believe she was kidnapped.
Tumblr media
Flying lessons with Duncan could potentially come in handy here, too. Not that Ali will fly her own plane out of town, but, you never know what you might need if the police come looking for you, or if you’re on the run.
Ali was also experimenting with her Vivian Darkbloom disguise, in case she ever needs to not be Alison DiLaurentis for a while.
Tumblr media
And the final way Ali and Charlotte plan on getting away with it all...
Charlotte sure as hell did speak with Melissa that night. According to Charlotte in 320, Ali begged Charlotte to speak to Melissa, to find out where the NAT videos are. The conversation topic quickly shifted when Melissa told Charlotte “I just saw Spencer and Alison fighting. Spencer had a shovel in her hands, and now there’s a body lying over there. I think Spencer killed Alison”. Charlotte knew that Melissa must be talking about Bethany, and NOT Ali, because Charlotte had just hit Ali herself. Hence, Charlotte had every reason to believe that Spencer killed Bethany.
Charlotte told Detective Holbrook this in 424. “I know who killed that girl. The one you thought was Alison DiLaurentis.” Brilliant, because now, Charlotte (and Ali) can blame Spencer for the murder they planned.
Tumblr media
Side clarifications: when Charlotte hit Ali, she was wearing a hoodie. She later changes into the yellow top for a very specific reason: to look like Bethany. They need to make it look like Bethany never died that night. Hence Charlotte told us in 610 that “Jason saw Bethany, he didn’t see me.” Jason did see Charlotte, but she was posing as Bethany. She lied, to keep the secret.
If you’re not convinced that Ali wanted to fake her death by killing Bethany (with the help of Charlotte), then this will totally convince you:
OUR QUEEN MONA VANDERWAAL GOT IT 100% SPOT ON IN 512
Isn’t this exactly what this entire post has been about? 512 is one of the most important episodes of the entire series.
Tumblr media
How do we know that Mona’s theory is totally correct? Because right after she shared her theories, Charlotte kidnapped Mona to shut her up in order to protect her best friend and her cousin, Alison. Charlotte would not have done this if Mona could be proven wrong. God bless Mona for being smart enough to solve this mess years ago. (And good job Marlene, for having this all planned that far back!)
Tumblr media
Alison popped by Mona’s house just to double check that her partner in crime, Charlotte, took care of their threat (Mona). Ali isn’t crying like everyone else for 2 reasons: she never truly did like Mona (”Mona played me like a fool”) but more importantly, she knows Charlotte never actually killed her. It’s just a temporary kidnapping.
Tumblr media
Ali wrote the below message whilst in jail. Who could she possibly have been leaving this for? Hanna wasn’t yet in jail, and even then, why would Hanna need to see this? This was for the all-seeing Big A: Charlotte. Ali was telling Charlotte that although she kidnapped Mona to shut her up, she was too late. Mona had already told everything, and the girls knew. The girls know everything about luring Bethany to Rosewood.
Tumblr media
Well the secret isn’t safe if she just kidnaps Mona and not the girls, isn’t it? Charlotte puts the girls in jail because Mona told them everything.
Tumblr media
That’s why Mona copped it really bad in the dollhouse. Mona had the information required to get Ali in a lot of trouble. Charlotte needed to protect her cousin.
Tumblr media
Evidently, Mona’s theories in 512 were right!!!
To further back up that Alison was up to something else, in early 5A, the girls are adjusting to their new life without A: Aria had just killed Shana. (Their true enemy was Charlotte, who was not in the country, but anyway...) Alison visits Ezra’s apartment asking for the remaining pages of his book; she says she needs to know what else he found if she's going to stay alive. Why can’t she relax at an A-free life like the other girls? Why is she so paranoid even after A is dead? Ali was worried that Ezra uncovered the truth to her kidnapping story... the true version to this story revolves around faking her death and murdering an innocent girl named Bethany. If Mona could work out Ali's plan later on in 5A, then the information is clearly out there in the wild to crack Ali's code.
Tumblr media
ALI AND CHARLOTTE ARE THE PRETTY LITTLE LIARS OF THE SERIES
So Charlotte lied in 610. She was indeed A, but Charlotte’s pivotal lie was saying that Jessica took her back to Radley after Charles' funeral. This couldn't have happened, because Charlotte had a roommate and was even in the Rosewood High yearbook. Saying she went back to Radley after Charles' funeral was her way of making the girls feel sorry for her, hoping that way they will forgive her for playing the A game. She was free to roam the streets of Rosewood.
Tumblr media
For an episode that was supposed to culminate 6 years of rich story, it was kind of disappointing that the girls who went through A’s torture were not even present during the A reveal, and instead, were locked behind a sci-fi screen. This was actually by design, because Charlotte and Ali knew that if the girls were physically present in the room, they would poke holes in their story.
What story?
Yes - all of 610 was pre-rehearsed between Charlotte and Ali. It seemed very formulaic, didn’t it? Ali asks a question, Charlotte answers it. As already discussed, Ali knew Charlotte was born as Charles. Well it didn’t stop there, because Ali knew Charlotte stole the A game from Mona, too. They were putting on a performance for the liars who are watching on the screen in the other room. They were telling the girls what they wanted to hear.
Because Ali and Charlotte are human, they made mistakes in their scripted story; mistakes that we know as plot holes. All plot holes from 610 are instantly cleared once they reveal in 7B that Charlotte never went back to Radley after Charles’ funeral, and that she was putting on a show for the liars. The plot hole of Marion’s death has already been cleared, as discussed earlier.
Note the camera in the below shot: Marlene, as director of 610, made a clear effort to show that Charlotte and Ali are putting on a show for the liars, with a prepared script.
Tumblr media
Look at the girls. They are practically believing every word Charlotte is saying, with no evidence to back up any claims. I’ll give it to Ali and Charlotte - the story they put together had some degree of logic. But there were deliberate lies to gain the girls’ sympathy, and these lies created plot holes. Ali and Charlotte think they’re getting away with it all.
Tumblr media
The biggest plot twist of the show will be precisely that Alison knew Charlotte was A (and was helping her!) the whole time. The thought that one of the liars was aware of who A is, is certainly a lot to take in at once. I’m not downplaying it - I understand the severity of this claim. I understand this re-defines the show as we know it. I’m scared the writers aren’t going to ‘go there’ in just 10 more episodes, but it truly does just make so much damn sense. Let’s explore.
Why was Ali doing this? Well, Mona got it right again in 512. God bless Mona.
“Alison would’ve gotten bored with any one of you, but all together... She assembled the perfect group”, said Mona.
“For a sociopath to manipulate”, finished Spencer.
Mona points out the below:
Smart - Spencer Loyal - Emily Admiring - Hanna Compassionate - Aria
... which perfectly coincides with this:
Tumblr media
This is Charlotte’s game, and Ali was playing it with her.
You are probably thinking to yourself that it can’t be true, because Ali has clearly been A’s target many times.
Firstly, please don’t forget Ali and Charlotte’s insanely close relationship. It’s not possible for girls this close to have a secret that big between them.
Secondly, it clears one of the shows biggest plot holes: if Charlotte loved Ali so much, why did she send her to prison? We know why Charlotte sent the girls to prison: they knew too much of Mona’s information.
Bravo Ali, for putting on quite the performance here:
Tumblr media
This was Charlotte’s way of telling the girls: “stop saying Ali is A! Stop saying Ali killed Mona! What’s it going to take for you to leave my team-mate alone, do I need to throw her in prison?”
Besides, Charlotte had Ali arrested for a murder that never even happened. The stakes were extremely, extremely low. Only Alison DiLaurentis could pull of that performance, crying like that.
We are talking about the girl who said this.
Tumblr media
Going to prison would clear her name straight away.
We are talking about the girl who left Rosewood, when Charlotte clearly told her that “if you leave Rosewood, I will kill you”. That was a fake threat to scare the girls. Charlotte would never hurt Ali. She even pretended to strangle Ali in her living room so that Emily can find her, and get scared.
Need I also remind you of this slip up? Ali signed -A out of habit.
Tumblr media
And in 301, Emily received the below text. Are we really going to believe this was from Charlotte... someone that Emily had never met before? Alison just loves messing with the girls!
Tumblr media
To provide further evidence to Alison knowing Charlotte is A, we can look at the Ali masks. The mask maker Hector Lime said that Alison ordered masks for all her “friends”. Aria, Hanna, Spencer and Emily sure as hell didn't receive any masks, so who are Ali's "friends"? Well to find out who Ali’s TRUE friends are, let’s just look to the past and see who exactly is in possession of an Ali mask:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well would you look at that... the A team are Ali’s friends: Charlotte and Sara Harvey (who received the mask from Charlotte).
And finally, do you really think THIS is how Ali would react to her friend detonating a bomb right in front of her? Oh please. Spencer pressed a couple buttons and that made her think she disarmed it. The bomb was never active. Charlotte was not going to kill herself after having just gained everyone's sympathy, which is what she needed in order to go to a mental hospital instead of prison.
Tumblr media
However, Ali running from A in New York was out of genuine fear, as Ali knew that it was not her teammate Charlotte on the roof in New York. At that moment Ali knew there was actually a hooded figure after her. And there was; Shana. Ali was genuinely scared for her life when Shana walked on that stage holding a gun to her head - Shana worked separately to Charlotte.
Rather than say Ali could not have been playing the A game with Charlotte because Ali suffered over the years, we need to look at each individual event. A holistic approach/comment is not possible here! I’ve explained a few events, but I’ll move on because there’s so much more.
If you’re still not convinced Ali was on Charlotte’s A-Team the whole time, let me remind you who Alison DiLaurentis is.
- she bullied Hanna about overeating.
- she was kissing Emily just for practice.
- she drove Mona to develop a personality disorder
- she threatened many times to divorce Aria’s parents
- she threatened to ruin Spencer’s relationship with her sister over boys
(A material, isn’t she?)
- she made the girls pass a test in order to truly be her friend - a test that was situated in a haunted house.
- she has been continually making comments throughout the series that make no damn sense. You all know much more about that night than you think you do. Telling the truth to the wrong person at the wrong time is how I ended up where I am. I want to come home, but it’s still not safe for me. ... what the hell!? These comments throughout the series make no sense. Ali is telling us, that combined, the girls were able to work out that Ali’s transgender cousin hit her with a rock and then she was later saved by a psychic? Ali is telling us that she’s scared of Ezra, the author?
She is playing with the girls. She wants them to think about her every day of every hour. Throughout the series Ali is causing mystery just for the sake of it. Her comments have proven to mean nothing. She loves the attention.
- she made the girls go on a wild goose chase in Ravenswood to reveal herself as alive. Rather than reveal herself as alive then and there, she makes the girls chase her around Ravenswood, only to ask them “did you miss me?” instead of telling them “I’m alive, I’m okay! I’ve missed you all!” She is so self centred... she thinks the girls missed HER, rather than her miss THEM.
Tumblr media
One statement that does have meaning... She’s practically telling Aria she’s on Charlotte’s A-Team.
Tumblr media
No one can convince me that this girl is not A material. Alison DiLaurentis epitomises why this show is called Pretty Little Liars. She deceived her friends all these years; she knew Charlotte is A and she helped her. Can we not forget that a flashback revealed Jessica telling off Alison for playing too many games with Charlotte?
How else did Charlotte know absolutely frickn everything about the girls?
Sorry Emison shippers - this is precisely why I haven’t been a massive supporter. I still believe those kisses were for practice.
This is exactly another reason why Charlotte kidnapped Mona in 512: Mona’s theories were so damn right, beyond luring Bethany to Rosewood! Mona worked out Ali is on the A-team (quote Mona: “Ali is A”), and Charlotte needed to shut Mona up. Again, 512 is one of the most important episodes of the series.
(I would like to give credit to @uberaalison for a few points I’ve made about Alison. Please go give this amazing person/blog a follow, and I thank them for inspiring me to look deeper at this character.)

POST TIME-JUMP: AVOIDING PRISON
As emphasised, Charlotte and Ali lied in 610. Why? Emphasising mental instability reduces the conviction and the sentencing. (Not me speaking, but legal systems in general.)
Did you ever find it odd, that Charlotte willingly revealed herself? The genius, who spent years avoiding getting caught, handed herself over to the girls? “Oh, you caught me! Well done girls!” It doesn’t work like that. The A-mastermind doesn’t just give up the game - she had a plan: tells the girls a really sad story, to get admitted into Welby instead of prison.
Why Welby? What’s at Welby? Archer Dunhill, her lover.
At the very beginning when Charlotte stole the game from Mona, she met someone named Archer Dunhill, and she fell in love with him. Charlotte told Archer to take on the alias of the deceased Doctor Elliot Rollins, and to wait for her at Welby, so that when she arrives there, he can get her out. (The ID was provided by Jenna, which she confessed to in 706).
The girls were too close for comfort in 6A: they wouldn’t stop looking into a Charles DiLaurentis. Charlotte decided it’s best she gives herself up now by telling a sad story, and then Archer will get her out of Welby within no time, rather than getting caught red handed (without the opportunity to tell a story, and then go to prison for the rest of her life).
Again, it made no sense for Big A to voluntarily hand herself over to the girls. She did this because she had a plan to fall into the arms of Archer and avoid prison.
“He knows everything about me. My family. My upbringing. Everything I’ve done. Everything. And he loves me. And he wants me out of here just as much as I do.” - Charlotte, 706.
Archer is no doctor. He took on the alias of a doctor merely to get Charlotte out of there, so he is not qualified by any means. When Charlotte arrived at Welby after finally declaring game over, Archer is supposed to help Charlotte get better. But of course, his true agenda is to get Charlotte out of there. He made her (falsely) pass all her tests and he organised court hearings (in “two weeks instead of six months”). During their ‘therapy’ sessions, Archer learns that Alison is now in possession of all the money Charlotte had when they first met. Archer wants it back, as he believes it belongs to the beautiful woman in front of him. Archer convinces Charlotte to allow him to take it all back from Alison. “But honey, I wouldn’t be doing anything wrong. It WAS yours. You worked hard for that. How are we going to start our new life together when I get you out of here? I’m not a real doctor, we have no money. We need that money back, Charlotte.” Charlotte was exposed to those feelings of manipulation all over again... not that she ever truly did get better, because Archer wasn’t treating her. Although Alison is her cousin, best friend, and partner in crime, she hears Archer’s valid claims and accepts his proposal to take Ali’s money. Archer begins seducing Alison.
This may all sound extreme that a man is willing to do this, but don’t forget in 620 he said... “I would have done anything for Charlotte”. He was the only man Charlotte had ever loved, according to Mary. That may be precisely why Charlotte agreed to even go against Alison here and take her money. Your first love is always the strongest.
“It’s like Rollins had an exit strategy for him and someone else”, said Emily in 703. Yes, he did. That someone else was Charlotte. Hence the passports and money. He was going to get her out of there and flee the country; go start up a new life elsewhere together.
Tumblr media
In 706 Charlotte says to Archer: “I can’t thank you enough for being here. I don’t know what I would’ve done if...” She is thanking him for waiting for her at Welby. She doesn’t know what she would’ve done if he didn’t pretend to be her doctor to get her out of there. Perhaps go to prison?
“They used to come to the Bed and Breakfast all the time” and “I saw them kissing once, but I’m not supposed to tell”, says Eliza in 703. “I’m not supposed to tell” is because Charlotte is going against Ali; her long time partner in crime and cousin. Charlotte told Eliza to not say a word after seeing them kiss. They're supposed to be doctor/patient working together to help Charlotte get better!!!
And then... someone killed Charlotte. Archer went through SO much just to be with her. He took on a fake alias, pretended to be her doctor for years and even agreed to steal someone’s money. And all of a sudden, the girl is dead?
Mary tells us the truth in 705: “As we [Archer and I] consoled one another, he began to share his suspicions [of Ali’s involvement in Charlotte’s murder]. I never agreed to [punishing Alison to the extend Archer did]. Archer told me that Charlotte wanted me to have her money and that, for me, was justice. But... he wanted vengeance. I tried to talk him out of it but he was intent on taking an eye for an eye.”
Archer wanted vengeance for Charlotte’s murder, as the love of his life is now dead. As Mary said, Archer wanted an eye for an eye. He wanted more than just her money; he wanted to see Alison suffer the way she apparently made Charlotte suffer. Mary did not think it needed to go that far, hence:
Archer: you being here is not part of the plan. Mary: well neither is what you’re doing to that girl. Archer: you’ve got what you wanted. The money is yours.
Tumblr media
Evidently there is a disagreement as to how far they should go to avenge Charlotte’s death.
THERE’S ALWAYS BEEN SOMEBODY WATCHING. MANIPULATING.
This is the writers speaking to us, through the character of Mona. The writers are telling us that we need to look at someone who has been there since the beginning. We also know it needs to be someone who at least has a connection to Charlotte, as this person is supposedly avenging their death.
There’s only ONE person in the entire show that fits these criteria: Melissa. Notice I never said Melissa Hastings.
Tumblr media
“I have been protecting you since it started. Since before it started.”
Assuming “it” is in reference to the A games, what exactly has Spencer needed protection from, even before the A games started, when life was much simpler?
“You don’t understand, you’ve never understoond!” - what, Melissa? What doesn’t Spencer understand? Her true relationship with the Drakes. Spencer doesn’t remember it! And Melissa is trying to ensure Spencer never finds out, for it will break her heart. Melissa is a firm believer that love connects family, not blood. And there is no love with the Drakes. In fact, the entire Hastings family doesn’t want Spencer to know about her relationship with the Drakes. I quote Veronica Hastings here whilst she was on the topic of the DiLaurentis’ in 504: “your dad and I had an understanding that we’d never involve you in all of the...” Go on Veronica, finish that sentence. “...in all of the Drake/DiLaurentis drama”. Spencer belongs with the Hastings. This is what Melissa is talking about - she has been protecting Spencer from her truth since forever... since “before it started” - since before Mona began the first game.
Just look at the face of concern when he’s confronted with Radley files in 525... is the secret about to come out when they open that lid?
Tumblr media
Let’s not forget Mary’s conversation with Spencer in 701.
Mary: I know enough about your family to know that they are excellent secret keepers. Spencer: why would they keep you a secret?
Everyone in the Hastings family is working hard to protect Spencer from her ugly truth. No one wants her to know she is adopted. They want her to live in the present and be happy with the Hastings.
How does Melissa know this about Spencer? Melissa is a Drake as well. She is Mary’s third and final child, and she knows it. The doctor who delivered Mary’s babies clearly stated that he “delivered two of her babies” - that wording is very ambiguous, implying there could be more than just Charlotte and Spencer.
Tumblr media
It was heavily alluded to in 701 that Spencer and Melissa are biological sisters. It would make no sense for Mary to tell Spencer that "you and your sister look so much alike, almost like twins” if Melissa is not also one of her children. Mary then proceeds to ask if Spencer is close with Melissa, like any mother would hope for her children. Mary’s fascination with Melissa tells me there is more to their relationship, and there is. I am dying for a scene between Melissa and Mary.
Tumblr media
Peter is the biological father of both Spencer and Melissa. He kept both girls, with his wife Veronica, whilst Mary went off to Radley. Peter and Veronica wanted to raise them as the perfect Hastings. That involved totally erasing their history and connection to Mary... you know, the woman who was ‘responsible’ for the death of a baby whilst babysitting. Who knows what Spencer’s birth was? Melissa’s birth name began with an A. Alyssa, or Alessia Drake, perhaps?
MELISSA IS AD
Have you noticed how AD has a very different agenda to that of Mona and Charlotte when they were A? AD/Melissa is NOT here to ruin relationships, trap mothers in basements and send messages exposing secrets. She doesn’t care about any of that petty stuff that Mona and Charlotte once did. Melissa has her own agenda.
Melissa killed Charlotte, and she wants the girls to hand over a name to her so she can get away with the murder.
I know what you’re thinking. “Melissa killing Charlotte is too obvious. It’s too easy. Therefore it’s not happening.” We need to stop thinking like this! The writers told us CeCe is A back in season 4 when they showed her face under the hoodie, and we all said “oh CeCe is in a hoodie? Easy, she’s not A”. Look where that got us!
Yes, Melissa did kill Charlotte. Innocent people don’t lie about where they were on the night of a murder (thanks for your lie detection skills Caleb). Melissa did use the metal rod from her suitcase. No, 6B wasn’t as pointless as we all thought. Actual answers in the season of fillers/romance!
Tumblr media
If the writers pointed the finger to Melissa in 7A, it would be fresh in our minds. They gave us the answers in 6B, hoping we’d forget about it by the time 7B comes. Smart move by the writers - because I’ve seen about zero theories on Melissa killing Charlotte, yet there is just so much damn evidence. Of course, it’ll be the person that the writers built up; the person that makes sense, rather than a person with zero clues. And right now, Melissa is the only person with actual clues towards being Charlotte’s murderer.
Melissa wanted Emily to touch the rod, to get her finger prints on it, so that Emily can go down for Charlotte’s murder. Melissa doesn’t care who she throws under the bus for her crime. ANYONE. She’s supposed to be the perfect Hastings. She can’t have a murder on her resume. We saw how Melissa reacted recently to the thought that her employer potentially knew about her video confessing to burying Bethany... she was about to pass out!
Tumblr media
AD had an obsession with getting the killer before election night. This sent alarm bells ringing in my head to re-watch the election episode, and see who is making their presence known. Lo and behold, the only character is Melissa. Melissa was sick and tired of the girls not handing over evidence, or a potential killer’s name to her. Her temper started to boil, and so she has the idea of giving them a deadline with consequences if they don’t follow through. Maybe then, the girls will do as told.
Tumblr media
Spencer says: “that was Melissa [on the phone]. She’s sending her love for the 10th time this hour”. The writers are very subtly teasing Melissa’s involvement. No other character made subtle features during the election night!
Veronica then says “I swear she's more nervous than I am!” Clearly Melissa is constantly checking in on Spencer/the girls to see if they’ve made progress on handing over a killer, so that Melissa can move on with her life.
Tumblr media
Look at the wording above.
“Thanks for giving me Hanna” - Melissa did warn the girls: “give me the killer by election night, or YOU LOOSE.” Because they didn’t hand over a killer, they lost. Because they didn’t hand over a killer, Melissa takes Hanna; the most recent person who made a confession.
Melissa is smarter than that: she knows Hanna is lying as it’s her own freaking murder! Hence all of this happened:
Tumblr media
Melissa told Hanna that if she wants the pain to stop, all she has to do is tell the police exactly what she told her earlier. Luckily Hanna escaped. Thank god!
Through all this, the million dollar question still remains: WHY did Melissa kill Charlotte?
First, let’s look at the relationship between Melissa and Charlotte.
Note: Melissa does know that Charlotte is her sister, evident in her saying to Hanna in 617 “who gave that twisted sister phone privileges?”
1) Charlotte and Melissa had an ongoing relationship (as they are family). It possibly was strengthened at Rosewood High, as Charlotte was prom queen the same year of Melissa’s prom.
2) They continue their friendship into summer at Cape May - Melissa took a photo of Charlotte, Ali and Wilden on a boat.
Tumblr media
3) Melissa and Charlotte spoke together ‘that night’. (That’s because Ali called Charlotte and told her to speak to Melissa, asking for the NAT videos. I guess Ali was too scared to talk to Melissa directly.)
4) When Charlotte first met Spencer, she greeted her as “Melissa Hastings’ little sister”. Very odd greeting, which teases a history with Melissa. That history is their family connection.
1 to 4 above have been planted across the series to tease Melissa is connected to Charlotte. No other character has such a connection. This connection I speak of is the family connection; sisterly bonding!!
5) Wren says that Melissa called Charlotte to say that Mona is in Radley. (Side note - here’s proof that Charlotte never went back to Radley after Charles’ funeral. If Charlotte were a patient there, she wouldn’t need to be told about Mona being there. Since Charlotte was no longer a patient there, and she was using the new alias CeCe Drake, she needed a visitors pass - plot hole cleared!) Melissa believed that her sister, Charlotte, would serve as a good role model to Mona. She wanted Charlotte to help Mona get better so that Mona can get out, and she can talk to her about Bethany Young.
6) Charlotte calls Wren to tell him that Melissa buried Bethany Young, causing Wren to end his relationship with Melissa as he couldn't look at her the same.
We very rarely get scenes with the Melissa and Charlotte, but their names constantly pop up in the same sentence. This can’t be a coincidence.
Charlotte never truly did get better as she was being treated by Archer, who is not a qualified doctor. She even kept her dolls of the girls, all those years after declaring game over, as we learnt in 703.
Rewatching 617, it became extremely clear that Melissa killed Charlotte.
"That scheming nut job who made your life a living hell has now moved on to mess with mine. Who the hell gave that twisted sister phone privileges? How does someone with her resume get put under penthouse arrest? A leopard never changes its spots. If she’s willing to tell Wren [about Bethany Young], who else is she gonna tell? We all have a past, Hanna. Aren’t you curious what she plans to use against you?”
Additionally, killing Charlotte served as protection to Spencer, as Melissa learnt of Charlotte’s intentions to tell Spencer about their true relationship as Drakes. Again, Melissa is protecting Spencer, like she always has been, since before it started.
I believe Melissa wrote the essay that coincidentally aligns with how Charlotte died, and Spencer thinks it’s her essay. We have seen Spencer take Melissa’s essays before. Just because it has Spencer’s name on it, doesn’t mean she wrote it. Spencer was too paranoid at how bad this could look for her, to look past the fact that Melissa is its true author.
If Melissa loves Spencer, then how do we explain this?
Tumblr media
There were 2 gun shots heard in the house. The first gun shot was Jenna shooting Spencer, and the second gun shot was Melissa aiming to stop Jenna from shooting Spencer. I believe the second shot (Melissa’s) hit no one. And Melissa kidnapped Jenna to punish her for shooting Spencer. Jenna thinks she’s safe with AD, because AD is avenging Charlotte’s death, but she’s wrong. Jenna has been kidnapped BY Charlotte’s killer.
So Melissa is AD because she wants to get away with killing Charlotte. What’s that “G” word that should be coming to your mind right about now? A GAME. If you’re expecting AD/Uber A to be a ruthless killer seeking revenge for something the girls did to harm them, you need to lower your expectations. I mean, Freeform itself is trying to warn us by the title of their video. It’s a game of “who can I blame for the murder I committed?” There are no merciless psychopaths on a murder spree in Rosewood.
Tumblr media
Garret says to Spencer in 302 that “there’s a lot you don’t know, Spencer. Some of it you don’t want to know. Someone that you know well has you completely fooled. People lie but… medical records don’t.” When they were dating, Melissa confided in Garret and told him about their connection to the Drakes, and this is what Garret is talking about. Garret really needed a lawyer to get him out of prison, and so he blackmailed Veronica. “Take my case, or I’ll tell everyone about the Drakes”. That’s why Veronica took his case without pay. Then Garret is released, and later is killed on the Halloween Train, which Melissa was on. Melissa sees Spencer having one-on-one private conversations with Garret, and fears the secret is coming out. Melissa killed Garret, protecting Spencer from her truth.
In 317 we see “A” burying the Queen of Hearts mask, who we know was Melissa. This can’t be Charlotte - why would Charlotte care about burying this mask? Melissa is in possession of a hoodie!
Tumblr media
THE TWINS
Peter is the biological father of Charlotte - he had an affair with Mary, thinking he was seeing Jessica as per normal. Mary did this to get back at Jessica for being the world’s worst sister. Mary is the innocent one and Jessica is satan in disguise. Jessica organised electro-shock therapy for Mary (very inhumane) and took Charles away from Mary the very second she was born. As Mary said, she didn’t even get to hold Charles at the hospital. Jessica even told Mary that Charles’ grave was real - Mary did not know her child was transitioning. Jessica wasn’t giving a cause of death, and even went as far as to say “you gave birth, but he was my son”. And let’s not forget the Teddy incident, where Jessica blamed Mary for the death of a baby whilst she was babysitting. Mary was born first and Jessica was born jealous.
Hence Peter tried to shut down Radley throughout the series: he is embarrassed of his affair with Mary, after already having had Jason with Jessica. He is trying to erase all evidence of it. It really does seem that Peter is the father of everyone in Rosewood!
As we learnt in 7A, Jessica was searching for Ali the whole time. How did she know to search for Ali, if she buried her? Kind of an odd reaction. Peter wanted to give Jessica a little bit of hope that maybe her daughter is still alive, and so Peter told Jessica that Melissa buried a body (Bethany) that night too. That of course implies something is going on; perhaps Ali made it out and someone else died?
Peter and Jessica’s understanding is that he will not tell anyone about the mess with Mary, if she does not tell anyone about Melissa’s secret.
Tumblr media
After Jessica got confirmation in 424 at the police station that Alison is alive, she nearly sent this email to Peter:
Tumblr media
Ali is alive, yet Jessica buried her...
And so in order to save her own ass, Jessica was going to say that Melissa buried Ali, and Melissa didn’t want to take that risk. Melissa proceeded to murder Jessica.
No wonder Peter lied to Veronica about taking Melissa to a bed and breakfast the night Jessica was killed - Peter is helping Melissa cover it up. Veronica gets bad vibes (trust issues), and files for divorce from Peter, taking Spencer with her, leaving her killer ‘daughter’ behind.
RANDOM FINAL NOTES
Noel killed Sara Harvey, because she was going to tell the girls that he is a bad guy. Sara saw Noel helping Charlotte in the dollhouse, and she knows how dangerous he can be. Sara was murdered right after she said to Emily “I want you to be safe. Please, don’t come back. I’m talking about...”
Jenna said in 706: I read about Charlotte wasting away in that hospital. So I reached out. I figured she’d welcome a visit even from a stranger. But I wasn’t a stranger. Mona had told her everything about me. I was a celebrity. This doesn’t seem to align with the pre-time jump, whereby Shana told Spencer that Jenna fears CeCe? The truth is that Jenna did not know that the Charlotte DiLaurentis that she read about in the paper was the CeCe Drake that she feared. She went to visit this girl, and was surprised to see the face that awaited her. Jenna and Charlotte eventually bonded once Jenna realised she doesn’t need to be afraid of Charlotte anymore.
Ian’s reasonings for committing suicide can be read here.
Mona’s reasonings for being A can be explained here.
Uber A is the smartest of all, according to Marlene. Arguably, the smartest person on the show is (Mona, but she’s already been A, so we are left with) Spencer. The only person smarter than Spencer is her sister Melissa, which the writers teased in 225. She is playing a game. She has been there since the very beginning, always watching. Never sent A messages, but always watching. She can be connected to EVERY single plot in the show. No other character can. She has A’s tone, referring to the liars as “bitches” in 324.
Melissa has been protecting Spencer since before it started, and now she needs someone to take the fall of the murder she committed. In 711 she declares it is “play time!” with the girls - she really is getting sick and tired of them not handing over a potential killer so she can walk free from her own crime.
Tumblr media
If you’ve made it this far, I’d like to say THANK YOU! For my final theory ever for PLL, I couldn’t be more proud. So many loose ends were covered here. I will admit, I was scared to post this for my bold claims about Alison and Melissa in particular (more so Alison). If I’ve left out any storylines, it’s because the post is already long enough, but also, I don’t feel they’re significant to the overall plot. Please remember that this is more than 2 months of work, and so rude messages will be deleted and you will be blocked, whilst constructive feedback is invited and encouraged. I sincerely hope you enjoyed my final efforts. That’s it from me... I’m all ‘theoried out’. Goodbye PLL theories, it was fun being a detective for 7 years!

you, me and the taylor swift society [bestfriend!au]
Tumblr media
a/n: sorry if there a bunch of typos and repeated phrases i wrote this one kinda quick but i was excited to be doing something other than school lol reblogs and feedback are always appreciated <3
summary: harry is on the football team and is quite the popular guy while y/n has been to the gym once and is ceo of the taylor swift society. despite their differences, they both love pretty little liars and each other (very vaguely footballer!harry)
wc: 4.4k+
tw: just some friends to lovers fluff
///
“Harry! Slow your long legs down!” y/n yelled, running as fast as she could whilst trying to control her swinging tote.
Halted by her voice, Harry stopped and turned to see his best friend chasing him down. He couldn’t stop the wry smile from growing on his face. He put his hands out in front of him to catch her and braced for impact. As predicted, she crashed into his hands with a soft “oof”, unable to stop herself in time and slow the momentum of her tote swinging her forward.
“Why are ya charging at me for huh?” he asked, taking her tote and hitching it over his shoulder. “I told you to stop putting so much stuff in your bag, you’re gonna get a droopy shoulder.”
She gave him a pointed eye roll. “I was just excited that’s all.”
“Of course, you’re excited. Everyone’s excited to see me.”
She nudged his hip with hers hoping to throw him off balance, but his body barely moved.
“Not everyone is foaming at the mouth and creaming themselves for a chance to hang out with you, you conceited oaf. The Taylor Swift society is having a social soon and it’s finally my turn to plan it. I am so excited, I have so many fun ideas.”
Harry looked down at her and immediately softened upon seeing how eager she was – her wide eyes, her constant smile, and her hands clasped tightly together in front of her. She was too precious.
The pair of them were quite the sight, him constantly in athletic wear and y/n always donning the cosiest sweaters and prettiest pastels. Their opposite aesthetics reflected their opposite personalities: Harry was outgoing and sporty, being a prominent member of the football team since year one and a regular at socials; y/n was less popular and preferred spending her time indulging in fan theories and conspiracies for her favourite shows and musicians online.
Despite that, Harry had somehow weaselled his way into y/n’s life, cementing his position as best friend. She had been in the library one random afternoon watching an episode of Pretty Little Liars, and unintentionally gasped louder than appropriate when A was revealed. Harry was sitting behind her, and he nosily turned to peek at her laptop screen to see what the fuss was about when he too gasped a bit too loudly and said, “PLL!”
After her initial shock and embarrassment, he introduced himself and asked if he could watch the rest of the episode with her. Stunned by his confidence, she didn’t really know how to say no. So, they sat shoulder to shoulder, hunched over a small laptop screen sharing a pair of headphones.
After the episode ended, they stayed and shared their different theories and opinions in excited whispers. Before they knew it, it was evening and neither of them had checked a single task off their to-do lists.
“So, y/n, do you usually come to the library to watch old American sitcoms?” he asked.
Blushing, she replied, “I was trying to motivate myself to get work done by allowing myself to watch one episode. But then, the episode ended with a huge A cliff-hanger, so I had to watch the next one.”
“Of course, you had to.” Harry nodded sarcastically.
She didn’t know what possessed her to return the volley, but she couldn’t help but fall into a comfortable conversation with him. “Don’t make fun of me. You immediately ditched your work once you saw what I was watching.”
Their spontaneous viewing party soon turned into scheduled PLL marathons, which then evolved into regular sitcom nights where Harry would crash on her floor, and they would get a full English breakfast together the next morning, donned in bathrobes and fuzzy slippers.
They sat facing each other at their usual bench behind the library. Harry unzipped his backpack and produced two burritos, one little and one big, and y/n dutifully squirted a dollop of hand sanitiser on their palms.
Just as he goes to bite into his burrito, she asked, “You don’t happen to be free on the 28th are you? I reckon I could convince the girls to let you come since it’s my first time planning a social.”
He hated that he could sense a tinge of uncertainty in her voice, and he hated that he is about to give her one more reason to feel that way.
“M’ sorry love but I have some team building retreat thing with the boys that day. Coach is worried that we are not gelling on the field, so we have to try find mutual peace or whatever. But send pictures of everything yeah, I know you’ll do a great job.” He reached over to give her wrist a quick squeeze.
“Aw it’s okay,” she pouted, “it’s just one social.”
Rationally, he knew it wasn't a big deal and his team obligations take priority, but his heart still clenched when she deflated ever so slightly. Being on the football team meant hosting and attending tons of parties, and traveling for games. And as luck would have it, every time y/n had asked him to accompany her somewhere – her college formals or her dean’s list award ceremony – he always had to bail because of something he’d already committed to. y/n, on the other hand, almost always made time when he invited her to one of his football parties, games or awards.
So, he always made sure to make it for every lunch date and sleep over. He guarded that time like it was sacred because it was, it was the only time they really had to spend time with each other alone. And all Harry wanted was to spend time alone with her.
-
“I’m scared.”
“You’re scared? I should be scared.”
He turned to her with knitted brows. “Why are you scared? You don’t trust me or wha’?”
“Not with my safety.”
“I hope you know that’s hurtful,” he huffed, dramatically crossing his arms as they enter the school gym.
After watching a bunch of fitness tiktoks, y/n was suddenly inspired to start working out, so she enlisted her only jock friend, Harry, to show her the ropes. Harry was in his usual gym shorts and hoodie and y/n was in her one pair of lulu leggings and an old shirt from secondary school. She did feel a like a little kid next to him, but he assured her that people only paid attention to themselves in the gym and people wore ratty shirts all the time. Turns out she did have reason to feel shy because all the hot people decided to work out on the same day. Everyone was yolked and in matching gymshark or lulu sets, and y/n stuck out like a sore thumb.
She tugged on his sleeve while taking in the surroundings. “Let’s come back another day, it looks crowded.”
“Don’t let them freak you out, you’re with me remember.” With his hand gently on her lower back he guided her to the lockers and instructed her to meet him by the treadmills.
Now, y/n knew Harry was popular, she had seen how busy he was at every party and every time they hung out in public at least one person would come up to say hi or flirt with him. But apparently in the gym he was a god. She tried not to get frustrated at how many times he stopped to chat. In fact, she should be used to it by now, but she couldn’t help but feel upset at how everyone barely gave her a once over. Some even had the nerve to look annoyed when Harry would to cut their conversation short to go back to helping her. She had no clue how he did it – charm and flirt effortlessly with everyone – when she could barely get someone to give her a second glance.
y/n was mid chest press when she saw someone coming up to their bench in the mirror. They didn’t say anything for a while and just stared at Harry’s back. He didn’t seem to notice their reflection or feel their stare and after a beat of silence, y/n decided to speak up.
“Hi, did you want to use the bench, I’m almost done with this set?” she asked.
“Actually, I was speaking to Harry.” They took a step closer to him, expecting him to turn to face them, but he didn’t take his eyes off y/n.
Another beat of silence later they continued. “Harry, I don’t know if you remember but we met at the football social couple weeks ago. I was wondering if you want to be my date for a party next Friday?”
“Sorry I’m not interested,” he muttered before saying to y/n, “Don’t lose focus c’mon you got one left.”
Not wanting to just sit in the awkwardness Harry seemed uninterested in diffusing, she lifted the bar one more time with a big exhale before shakily passing it to Harry.
To their credit they were not deterred. “Well how ‘bout I give you my number in case you change your –“
“There’s no need, I’m not interested. If you don’t mind, I’m busy right now,” he dismissed, finally turning to look at them with a tight smile. With a sheepish smile, they finally walked away and while Harry remained looking unbothered.
When they were out of earshot, she smacked him in the arm and scolded him. “Harry that was so rude, they were trying to be your friend.”
“They were not trying to be my friend they were trying to hook up with me.” Before she could respond, he redirected her towards the next machine. “Besides, they were rude to you. Why would I want to hang out with someone who is rude to my best friend?”
“Aw, my knight in shining armour. What would I do without you sacrificing hook ups for my honour?” y/n clasped her hands together and batted her lashes at him to mask how her stomach fluttered.
“Keep it up and I’ll drop a weight on your foot.”
“Yeah, right you love me too much.” She looked up at him and pursed her lips making kissy sounds.
“Okay, okay, noodle arms I hope you have rested enough because we are doing lats.”
-
The teambuilding retreat was as lame as it sounded. They were two hours in, and Harry was bored out of his mind. His coach clearly envisioned himself as a Ted Lasso of sorts because he was unusually perky and optimistic, and the team was supposed to learn a dance routine in the name of confidence building.
Harry’s mind was occupied to say the least. Today was y/n’s Taylor Swift social and he was nervous for her, he wanted everything to go well. She had been so busy planning for it that they didn’t get to spend anytime together the past couple weeks. They facetimed a couple of times but he still felt this weird gap in his life. He knew it was childish of him to feel neglected because her attention wasn’t solely on him for once, but he couldn’t help it, and he couldn’t help but constantly refresh Instagram to see if the society had posted a new story with y/n in it.
Before he could open Instagram again, a notification from y/n popped up. It was a mirror selfie with the caption ‘ootd as promised’. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. She wore a red satin dress with a cream knitted sweater over it that was somehow tucked up into itself, complete with a red lip and a big cheesy grin.
‘You look beautiful love, have lots of fun for me xx’
She didn’t text back, so he allowed himself to look at her photo again. Her excitement must have been infectious because he couldn’t stop smiling. She’s always had a beautiful smile.
A loud “Styles!” pulled Harry back to reality and his head snapped up to look at his coach, quickly locking his phone before someone could peak at his screen. He mumbled a quick apology and settled back into the hard plastic chair, head still floating with thoughts of y/n.
Damn, he really wanted to see her. He needed to see her.
By the time he was done it was nearing midnight, but the urge to see y/n had not subsided. Motivated by the thought of seeing her outfit in the flesh and potentially a hug, he forced himself to make the 20 minute walk to hopefully catch her before she left. The last he checked she was still sipping on bubbly and playing ‘don’t forget the lyrics’ with everyone in an Instagram story 10 minutes ago.
He peaked his head into the now quiet empty room and saw y/n sitting on the floor putting empty cups into a bag. When she spotted Harry, her entire face lit up and she let out an excited gasp.
“Harry,” she squealed, “you made it!”
She clumsily got up and shuffled towards him, enveloping him in her arms and smiling into his chest. He was right, her excitement was infectious because he once again found himself cheesing along with her.
“Hi sweet girl, did you have fun? Sorry I had to miss everything.” he cooed, gently smoothening her hair.
“Oh Harry, it was so much fun and everyone loved all the games and everyone looked so pretty in their outfits and we drank all these fun cocktails and Amber made Taylor’s cookies that were so yummy and I –“
“Woah slow down love, you can tell me about it tomorrow yeah. Let’s finish cleaning up so you can sleep off all that bubbly okay.”
She pulled away from his chest and gaped at him in shock. “How did you know I drank bubbly?”
“Because I’m psychic, duh.”
“You’re not psychic, you were spying on me somehow.” Her eyes narrowed comically. She was too cute.
“C’mon Sherlock, you can sleuth tomorrow. You’re wobbling all over the place.”
Drunk y/n was a delight he discovered. She loved to giggle, and she wouldn’t let go of his arm the entire walk home. They weren’t normally a touchy pair apart from the occasional head pat and arm grab, but he can’t say he didn’t enjoy the way she was hugging his arm and pressing her cheek against his bicep as she hummed under her breath. Why didn’t they cuddle more? The thought of her tucked under his chin, hands running through his curls, was enough to make him shudder. Maybe next time he stayed over he would convince her to let him crawl into her bed for a quick spoon.
When they reached her flat, she flopped onto the couch with a dramatic groan, kicking her legs up over the arm rest. Now, Harry wasn’t a perv, he really wasn’t. But y/n’s dress flipped up slightly when she lied down and her thighs looked too soft not to admire. He wanted to sink his teeth into them. As he squatted down to untie her shoes, his eyes travelled up her body and took in her resting form. Her outfit was prettier in person and the photo didn’t pick up the pink glitter on her eyes which only added to how much of an angel she was. His angel.
He would be lying if he said this was the first time he had noticed how beautiful y/n was. In fact, he found himself doing that a lot lately, eyes watching how her lips formed words and the way her nose scrunched when another adult dates a teen on PLL.
“Harry?” she asked.
“Hmm?”
“I’m sweaty.”
He let out a soft chuckle and reached to take off her sweater and smooth her dress down. “That’s better yeah. Let’s get you in bed love.”
-
Sitting outside was a good idea, Harry thought. Her skin was glowing under the sun and her hair was dancing in the wind so perfectly it was unbelievable. He was supposed to be paying attention to the episode playing but he could barely follow the plot with how often he was sneaking glances at y/n.
“Oi, do I have something on my face, why do you keep staring at me?”
He shrugged casually trying to ignore the way his face heated upon getting caught. “No, there’s nothing, just like looking at ya.”
“Well the episode is about to get good, pay –“
“Harry!” a voice interrupted.
As per usual, it was someone wanting to say hi to Harry. She doesn’t even bother looking up, simply carrying on with what she was doing and trying to not make a face when they try to ask Harry out. Keyword being ‘try’ since he doesn’t let the conversation go on for more than a few sentences, somehow being uninterested again.
When they were left alone, she asked, “How come you never want to go out with any of these people?”
“Because I don’t know ‘em.”
“You’re not gonna know them unless you go out with them dummy.
“Why don’t you go out with anyone then?” he asked, trying to divert the conversation away.
“Well, I can’t go out with people if no one asks me out, can I? And we’re not talking about me, we’re talking about you.”
Clearly done with this conversation, Harry put in his side of the headphones and resumed their episode. “I told ya, I don’t wanna get to know people who are rude to my best friend. Now shh, I’m watching.”
That’s his go to answer whenever she encourages him to continue the conversations, and it made her heart grow three sizes every time. Despite her reassurances that she was never offended or upset by being ignored, he was adamant that those people were too rude to entertain. And the warmth she felt whenever he put her first eclipsed any lurking feelings of jealousy.
y/n followed suit and put in her headphones, gently nudging his shoulder with her head to shyly display some of the growing affection.
-
He was going to lose his mind, he just knew it.
Football season was finally starting which meant that Harry had been swamped with training for the past couple of weeks, depriving him once again of his weekly fix of y/n. The send-off party was the first time he would get to see her in three weeks and he had been buzzing with excitement all day.
After he brought y/n home from her social, he made himself a little bed on the floor with spare bedding and slowly drifted to sleep to the sound of her breathing. He doesn’t know what, but something must have changed within him because he had never been soothed by someone’s breathing before. Perhaps it was because her rhythmic breaths served as a welcome reminder of her presence, and Harry, as he was coming to realise, loved being in her presence.
So, this nagging urge to find her made sense, but it seemed like no one wanted to leave him alone. He knew he was being a little ungrateful, these people were here to support him, so he shouldn’t feel like entertaining them was a burden. It didn’t help that every other person seemed to be trying to hook up with him, like he was the prize of the night.
He knew that people wanted him, they told him all the time, and that didn’t bother him until he realised that they flirted with him more aggressively whenever y/n was with him, as if they had some sort of right to be possessive. And now that y/n was on his mind all the time, it only took the slightest suggestive look to irritate him.
Taking advantage of the first opportunity to leave, Harry bid his group of friends goodbye to look for her. As he made his way to the kitchen the buzzing in his heart got more intense. It was like he had some sort of spidey-sense telling him that she was near. Then, he heard her giggle amidst the noise. He peered over heads and scanned the crowd until he spotted – wait.
Who the hell was that?
It wasn’t that Harry expected y/n to be alone, he just didn’t expect y/n to be with him, whoever he was. Glued to his spot, he tried to remember if y/n had mentioned any guy friends, but his mind pulled blank. So, who was he?
When y/n looked up and met his eyes, his jaw immediately unclenched. He could tell from the dreamy look in her eyes that she was a couple drinks in.
“Harry, over here!” she called with a smile, waving at him enthusiastically. He made his way over, eyes never leaving her. Once he was within arm’s reach, y/n eagerly grabbed his wrist and tugged him to her side.
“Justin, this is my friend Harry, he’s the best footballer ever. Harry, Justin is from my stats class, I found him in the kitchen can you believe it!”
The boys exchanged curt nods, both subconsciously straightening their posture and puffing their chests a little.
Oblivious to the hostility, y/n continued on excitedly, “Justin was telling me about the new record store that opened nearby and all the pretty records he saw. I love pretty records Harry.”
He nodded and hummed in agreement, trying to focus on her fingers around his wrist instead of the unsettling warmth growing in his belly. Unsure of what he was feeling, he thought it was best to just observe.
Seeming to take advantage of Harry’s silence, Justin continued his conversation with y/n as best he could with a broody 6ft tall footballer staring him down. With every smile, gasp and giggle Justin managed to elicit from y/n, Harry got more and more annoyed. He didn’t know how she did it, be so polite and patient whenever people flirted with him in front of her, because this was the first time he was on the other end and he was fuming.
“Love,” Harry turned his back to Justin and manoeuvred their hands so that their fingers were interlaced, “I think the punch was a little weird, my tummy hurts.”
Was the pout a little overkill? Sure. But he was prepared to be shameless if that meant that Justin would go away.
“Oh no, do you want me to get you anything?”
He shook his head pathetically with downturned eyes before saying lowly, “No, I just wanna go lie down.”
“I’m so sorry Justin, but we’ll make plans to visit that record shop next time. I gotta take care of Harry, he can’t play football with an upset tummy.”
Harry fought every muscle to hide his triumphant grin as y/n guided him out of the party and back to hers.
Once she made him some herbal tea, she tried to get him to sleep on her bed instead of his usual position on the floor.
“I’ll only take your bed if you cuddle with me. I’m sick, I need comfort.”
Unable to deny Harry anything, y/n crawled into bed with him, letting out a little squeal when his big hands grabbed her waist to tuck her into his side.
“See, this is so nice,” he hummed, “I can’t believe we’ve never cuddled before.”
She let out a sigh of contentment and allowed herself to sink into his hold and relax against him.
“Yeah, this is nice. We should do this again.”
-
She had been thinking about the night they cuddled a lot. Waking up surrounded by his scent and enveloped in his warmth was a luxury, one that she selfishly wanted to reserve for herself. From the way he clung onto her, reluctant to let her go in the morning, you’d think he was touched starved. But y/n knew that there was a surplus of warm bodies eager to get in his bed.
For now, she shoved that thought to the back of her head and indulged in the fact that Harry chose to spend all his free time with her. Literally all his free time. She urged him to go for dinner with his team after matches or hang out with his friends from class, but she was always met with an exaggerated pout in return.
“Wha’, you getting sick of me or something? Stop trying to push me to other people, I wanna spend my time with you.”
How could she say no to that?
It was probably the third consecutive Friday where she found herself tucked under Harry’s arm, head resting comfortably on his chest. She was half asleep as he studied the match on the screen intently.
Just as her eyes fluttered close, Harry leaned down and muttered softly in her ear, “I love you.”
“What?” Her head shot up, eyes wide open. She was definitely awake now. “What did you say?”
“I said I love you.”
When y/n said nothing, he softly pleaded, “Say something, please.”
“Do you mean it?”
“Of course I mean it. How could I not love you?”
She threw herself forward and wrapped her arms around him tightly. “Oh Harry, I love you,” she proclaimed with her face smushed into his chest. “I can’t believe you love me too. You always make me feel so special but only call me your best friend. And you always turn down everyone who tries to date you, so I just thought you weren’t into relationships. But you love me.”
Harry returns the hug and leaned back to lie down on the bed, pulling her body to lie on top of him. He breathed her in and pressed a long kiss onto her temple.
“I spend every free moment I have with you, I ask you to send me outfit pictures because I like being the only one who gets them, I turn down everyone who tries to get with me because I know none of them can make me feel the way that you do, and I pretended to have a stomach ache so that I could get you away from fucking Justin.”
She looks up at him with a moony expression.
“I’m going to kiss you now,” she whispered. And when he nodded, she did.
Harry felt like his soul left his body. Everything felt different and new, but it all made sense. When they pulled about an inch apart, they just exchanged dopey grins, basking in the moment.
“You are my boyfriend.”
His heart soared.
“I love being your boyfriend.”

I noticed something on my rewatch of PLL.
We know the original plan was Wren was A. Marlene even said it herself.
So all these clues lead up to Wren being A in the first, second, and third seasons.
Then they switch the A lair to an apartment for Ezra but he doesn't wear the kind of suits that are in the closet or shoes for that matter but Wren does.
Just a fan theory but maybe Ezra found the A lair and decided to set up his writing board there. We all know Marlene loves placing red herrings when the real answers are out of reach.
This is marlene doing another red herring because Wren was unavailable for shooting. And they wanted to milk it for seven seasons to get money because it could have been wrapped up in a nice pretty bow that made sense in season 3/4 with Wren being available for the A reveal and story of him being Mary Drake's son and his whole FUCKING MOTIVE.
Also, it was confirmed that in the series finale, when Mona says "I never would have guessed it was you." She was talking to Wren, but that doesn't make any sense when they had that strange interaction in season 4 when she gets locked up in Radley again and he shows her the drawing of Mary Drake - if she worked for him, why would she say that, unless of course she didn't really know it was him behind the hoodie? Just another inconsistency.
Yes, i'm still pissed about it. Yes, i will talk about this for hours because we got jipped out of the BEST A reveal/finale/ending of a series that would have been so good if the actor was available and if they would have just cut out such unnecessary bullshit and plot lines that went nowhere and just stuck with the original plan that they wanted. But instead they had to milk it and damn near destroy everything about the show that could have made it amazing in the concept of making more drama/being unnecessary.
I would also love to see A footage. Like Wren being filmed in the black hoodie with Mona. Toby's A stuff. Spencer's A stuff. Aria's dumb so i don't really give a shit about her in all honesty. But more little snippets of A planting evidence and actually seeing them in the black hoodie. Like they could have put it in deleted scenes and had it be released on the dvd box set. They did that for Toby/Caleb/Paige in season 2 with Toby's reveal working for the A team. They could have easily done a shot with Wren and not release it until the deleted scenes/actual ending of season 7 that could have been like "Alternate ending if the actor wasn't in a prior engagement" or some shit. They had time. He was on set.
Just going to watch Wren is A videos on youtube and read some fanfic because I'm still so fucking disappointed in this show's ending. Troian's an amazing actress but the whole twin thing was screaming "we just came up with this three seconds ago and are hoping the audience doesn't notice."
WE FUCKING NOTICED, MARLENE.

My Pre-release Thoughts/Mini-Theory of PLL: Original Sin
Tumblr media
Now this theory (the first of many) will cover what I assume will take place or be relevant to what will be happening in the Pretty Little Liars reboot Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
Based off of what has been released so far as of date of posting (August 19th, 2021) the reboot’s details that have been released are few but already say a lot about what will take place.
The synopsis of the show, in a statement released by HBO Max, follows below.
“Twenty years ago, a series of tragic events almost ripped the blue-collar town of Millwood apart. Now, in the present day, a group of disparate teen girls—a brand-new set of Little Liars—find themselves tormented by an unknown Assailant and made to pay for the secret sin their parents committed two decades ago…as well as their own. In the dark, coming-of-RAGE, horror-tinged drama Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, we find ourselves miles away from Rosewood, but within the existing Pretty Little Liars universe—in a brand new town, with a new generation of Little Liars.”
So what does this tell us? The reboot will be set in a town near Rosewood which could potentially allow cameo appearances from the original show’s cast, though if that happened, it would need to feel organic. I’d love seeing the old cast reprise their characters for a special appearance but I think it would be best to keep the two separate from each other so as to not mess with the original show’s characters and what those writers and creators intended versus the new creators. Also this tells us that not only will this new group of Liars be getting into trouble and keeping secrets, but that their parents previously did something that someone is out for revenge for the past and present.
Tumblr media
Ok, so what are sins? In view of the Christian faith, there are Seven Deadly Sins and also what some view as the “Original Sin”. The Seven Deadly Sins are pride, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and laziness (sloth), while the Original Sin refers to the belief humans are born to sin through their genetics they inherited from the first man and woman, Adam and Eve who first sinned against God in the Garden of Eden. *(Other religions/faiths have sins but since this story will be set in modern-day Pennsylvania, I believe that if it has any religious allusions, it would be to the Christian faith - no disrespect to the others!)
It has been revealed that Bailee Madison, Maia Reficco, and Chandler Kinney, have been cast as Imogen Abel, Noa Oliver, and Tabby Hayworth, respectively (pictured below left to right as mentioned).

Now THIS is what stood out to me… In a show entitled Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, they created a character whose last name is Abel. In the Bible, there is the famous story of Abel and Cain, where one brother kills the other. To sum it up, Cain and Abel are the sons of Adam and Eve - Cain born first and Abel second. So Cain grows jealous of Abel for the favoritism being shown to him by God, so Cain murders his own brother, Abel.
*Note: the original Pretty Little Liars books even alluded to the story of Abel and Cain as that is the basis for the twins storyline of Alison and Courtney… notice the names have the same first letters, except Courtney is Abel and Alison is Cain (since she murdered Courtney).
Now how does this tie into my theory?
Well I believe that the original sin committed by the Liars’ parents was murder of a classmate/friend/enemy for one of the 7 deadly sins (or maybe it was self-defense?). Imogen Abel will either be killed by her (secret/twin?) sibling (like Abel) or she will end up the killer (like Cain). Since the books twisted the Abel/Cain story to make the killer’s name start with “A” (and ultimately be known as “A”), I think it’s fair to guess that Imogen could be the real killer and “A” in the reboot. Also her parents will definitely be involved in the “original sin” since their last name is Abel and Abel’s parents were Adam and Eve who committed the original sin.
Tumblr media
I’m unsure how much material the reboot will pull from the books and the original show in terms of storyline ideas or plot points, so who knows what to really expect! However, a few key staples of the Pretty Little Liars brand are things that some fans may be tired of but they are what have made the show and the books the phenomenon they are. They are:
1. a group of characters being targeted, harassed, stalked, and tormented by an unknown foe who is always a few steps ahead of their prey
2. the unknown stalker being connected to the group or a specific member of the group, and having their reason for their actions being tied to the group/individual in some twisted/straightforward way
3. the one thing some fans will be tired of but I personally *love* … TWINS. Yupp, there HAS to be twins at some point in the show, and it has to be crucial to the plot. It was the premise of the books’ storyline, and then in the last A arc storyline in the original show.
For the PLL reboot to feel like I’m watching a PLL-inspired show (since I know it’s all new content), there HAS to be the 3 plot points I just mentioned and I believe that will be factored into my earlier points about Imogen and her family. Imogen will be the new Alison, and she will be the one to have a twin or even be the new A.
Final thoughts/mini-theories:
- I’m pretty positive that twins will be involved in the mystery, to what extent I am unsure but I have strong feelings Imogen will be featured in that storyline.
- It’s possible that Imogen may be a twin, and if it’s not her, I believe it will be one of her parents, since their last name is Abel, tying back into what I explained earlier.
- The Liars in the reboot will be more proactive in figuring out the identity of their stalker and the underlying mystery, than their predecessors in the original TV series. *No hate to the OG Liars but it always felt like they never tried hard enough to get law enforcement or anyone to help them out until the later seasons instead of from the get-go.*
- I don’t want this reboot to be a faithful adaptation in the sense of using all the material from the books but applying it to new characters. I have mixed opinions on it being set in the same universe as the OG show but I’m glad they will have a new setting, characters, and plot. I do still wish they utilize the twins storyline because I personally LOVE twins and have always found the PLL Alison/Courtney storylines one of the best ever written in terms of the buildup to the reveal, the details dropped along the way, and just the way my mind was blown apart reading it the first time.
So that’s pretty much all I have at this point based off what has been released. Hopefully this show will bring back old fans, bring in new fans, and we can rebuild the PLL community here again! Let me know your thoughts/theories/comments about the reboot, or even about the original show(s) and books! ❤️

If you had to choose who was A after the Mona reveal, who would it be? I say we should have went for Aria with Ezra as her sidekick to destroy the whole predatory ship after all that glorification. But I think A.D should have been Allison. I think to end the show with Ally being the big bad, or at least her with the upperhand when it comes to having a chokehold on rosewood and its citizens would have been SO iconic.
In a way, I wish the disapearance of Ally made things worse for Rosewood and getting her back was the worst of all evils type of scenario. This 16 years old terrorized a whole town, but its like she's a deity that you need to keep your crops healthy every year ahaha. Thats what i wanted ngl.
I also wished Mona and Ally dated. The enemies to murderous lovers excellence we could have had? ROBBED. Imagine if Mona and Ally rose while Ezria fell, all 4 of those people being A at some point??? Pll would have gone down in history as one of the most iconic shows and it didnt T_T.
Spencer having a twin sister and her being A was even worst then Cece Drake. A needed to be someone there since day 1 or it didnt make sense at all. It was so bad, I forbade my mom from watching the finale online and refused to show her how. She was so mad, but I was sparing her XD
Okay, so I'm gonna contextualize this a bit with the fact that for me and the 3 As, only two were ever a mystery to me: the original A, and A.D. This is because I started watching PLL for the first time at kind of a peculiar time, August 2015. Which if you're a PLL stan, you'll know that's when the 6A Finale aka the Cece reveal happens. There was this gif going around Tumblr at the time of Cece in a brown wig and sunglasses at the airport and it was HUGE during that reveal. The prevalence on Tumblr convinced me to watch the show and I ended up loving it, but because of how I got into it, I knew Cece was A (let's call her Big A for the sake of differentiation b/w A #1 and A #2) from the start of my watch.
That said, I can tell you having watched the show many, many times, despite knowing that from the beginning- it doesn't make it make ANY more sense. In fact, it calls a lot of things into suspect. Part of what makes the Mona reveal so great is that the liars never suspect her, but she was constantly doing things that were suspect. She was always around the liars, existing and pulling the strings, but never directly accused of anything. There's a reason A couldn't be Melissa or Jenna or Lucas or Noel- and it's because those are the characters the liars are CONSTANTLY accusing of being A! It would pack no punch if the Liars were right all along. And that's what ruined the Cece reveal. Because while the reasons why Cece were doing what she was doing were new, Cece as a suspect was not. In fact, I'm watching Season 4 right now and Cece is the prime suspect of the season. This tells me plainly, which shouldn't be a surprise to any fan, Marlene & Co. did NOT have Cece planned as Big A from her introduction in Season 2, nor in Season 3, Season 4- possibly not until Season 6 itself.
On my thoughts for Ali as either Big A or A.D., I'm kind of of two minds. Because Ali was suspected multiple times throughout, and it's also implied before the Ali is dead reveal that the girls THINK it's Ali when the texts first come. But I can't decide if it would be a gag or not if the show told us from the very first episode that Ali was A or if that's just bad. I really can't make up my mind. I do think that it could've been pulled off if done right because Ali for the first four seasons is truly so horrible, but instead they go for an Ali redemption arc.
This is getting unbearably long, so the rest is under the cut.
As I knew Cece was Big A from the beginning, I couldn't get on board with any of the Aria as Big A theories as they came out, but I did partake in the Aria is A.D. theories and BY GOD, did I love them. I would have been so down for Aria as Big A or A.D. As with the Mona reveal, one of the (non-Alison) liars being A would have been the biggest and most interesting twist. Because again, it's no one the liars saw coming, but of course one of the liars WOULD know a ton of secrets about the liars. A could always be one step ahead of the Liars if she WAS a liar. As for which of the liars it could be, the only real option IS Aria. Hanna is too ditzy, Emily too sweet, and Spencer is the biggest perpetrator in finding A (aka though she has the hyperintelligence, she works too actively against A, though I'd say of the Liars = A theories, Spencer was my #2 behind Aria).
There was a lot about Aria = A that just... worked. I mean obviously... Aria. With an A. Aria was also the Zoom in in the title sequence doing the "Shh" for the first 6 seasons, which is peculiar as she is almost certainly not the most important or narratively relevant of the Liars, that honor goes to Spencer. We also got a couple fun gags from Mona- Mona calling Aria "Big A" in S1 or S2, Mona's little "Miss Aria, you're a Killer, not Ezra's wife." [I could go into more details like the Montgomery family's mental illness history + Eddie Lamb's "recognition" of Aria at Radley, but honestly I think there's a lot of tiny details that you could basically convince yourself any Liar was A, just that Aria had the most "proof." If you like the show, watching old fan theories for Aria = A on YouTube is fun just to see all the evidence people used to stack up about it.] She also got hit the least by a lot of the A shenanigans. Other than the constant threat to her relationship with Ezra, she really got off a LOT easier than the other liars. In different respective seasons (Season 3 for Emily/Spencer, Season 4 for Hanna, Season 5 for Ali/Hanna), the liars go through it. And Aria just never gets a season with that. She repeatedly gets off the easiest of the girls. Then with the Ezra = Board Shorts reveal, we really could have had it all. I mean, while Ezria was never gonna be okay, Ezra still deserved jail regardless, but IF Aria was A, she would've known Ezra was Board Shorts the whole time, and that means that the whole time Ezra was playing Aria from the beginning... it was really Aria playing Ezra from the beginning! And maybe, with their "love" she could've convinced Ezra to join her A team.
The Alex Drake A.D. reveal was just... bad. We all know it. And that's mainly because it was a continuation of a series that didn't need to be continued. Seasons 6B-7B could be entirely differentiated from the events of the series before. There was hardly any interconnecting tissue and truly Alex Drake did not matter. She was no one to the girls, so her reveal had no payoff. That said, I've kind of grown to love it ironically in retrospect. I remember Troian having interviews post PLL about how she practiced her accent for months and yet we still got the iconic, "ELLO SISTUH" and furthermore, my favorite detail of the entire fkn series: WREN GETS TURNED INTO A DIAMOND.
So, why did this happen? (Well, firstly, because the show was not planned out similar to something like LOST. Past Mona, which was a pre-written mystery solved in the book series, the show was flying by the seat of its pants. But even without a "solved" mystery from Season 1/2/3, I think the show still could've redeemed itself with a good A, so why didn't it?) I think because PLL was, ultimately, a teen drama more than a murder mystery. The fandom is an interesting disparity in that many people did love it for the murder mystery intrigue aspects, but others cared more about relationships. I think it's impressive how much of the fandom WAS interested in the mystery- as opposed to a show like Riverdale, where in an arguably similar niche, I don't think much of anyone cares about the mysteries the show creates (though, also arguably, those mysteries never make any sense so it's hard to care). But from the show writers perspective, the ships/character side of fandom won out over the mystery aspect.
This meant a couple things. First, that a Liar could not be A in any form. The fandom had invested too much time in the Liars. They were the main four characters. It didn't matter how much Aria = A or Spencer = A might've worked. Each liar had a camp in fandom saying "This is my favorite character, if you reveal them to have been a psychopathic maniac this whole time- I will be upset." But Ali had more wiggle room as the fifth liar, she did not have anywhere near as much screentime and was openly shown to be a really bad person in flashbacks over and over, she could work, right? But that too, was veto-ed by the character/relationship side of fandom. Because not only could the Liars themselves not be A to preserve happiness with the fans, but neither could their love interests. By way of the Emison fans, and Emily's canon romance or at the time of Season 5, at least romantic interest in Alison, Alison could no longer be a candidate for A either. As love interests, neither could Caleb, Toby, or Ezra. A lot of really fanservice-y stuff happens in Season 7 that corroborates all this for me (some of which I enjoyed, some of which I did not), the writers chose to try to appease fans rather than solve a good mystery and I can't say it was the wrong choice, only that it was the choice they made.
But what I will say is I think that the writers knew even as they wrote Alex Drake into the story, that one of the Liars should've been either Big A or A.D. Because if having a Liar be A wasn't a good ending, why would the writers try so hard to substitute this ending with an evil twin? It was like the writers were saying- this is BASICALLY Spencer. Just kind of not.
Also, just if you made it to the end of this read, I'd like you to know I wrote this while listening to Adam Lambert's Trespassing. A classic we all can remember. Pretty Little Liars brainrot will come for us all.

My final A.D. theory...
First of all I just wanted to say that I can’t believe that this is my final theory. I can’t believe that it’s almost over and I hope that this finale is what everyone is hoping for. And with that, here is my final (and somewhat long) theory.
In interviews, the cast (and Marlene and other writers I think) stated that this time around, the girls will correctly figure out who AD is. That means that AD has to be someone from this last season that the girls have been suspicious of.
I made a list (sorry if I forget anyone!) of suspects:
Archer Mary Jenna Sara Noel Sydney Lucas Mona
So, it’s safe to say that it can’t be Archer, Sara or Noel, as they’re dead. I’m also writing off Sydney because I’d like to believe that the writers aren’t THAT stupid. Mona is also a write off for me as I truly believe she just wants to protect Hanna and be a part of the group. That leaves us with Mary, Jenna and Lucas.
Mary: The only way I can see Mary being A.D. is if she’s actually Jessica, which again, I doubt is something the writers will do. It could make sense as to why she is seen hurting Spencer in the 7x20 promo, however also in the promo, Mona says ‘I never would have guessed it was you’, which makes me believe that it isn’t Mary either. Why/how would Mona know Mary enough to say this to her?
Jenna: Again, Jenna is a good suspect but I’m not sure she has it in her. It makes sense if she was friends with Charlotte like one of the flashbacks suggested, but when Spencer was shot she was taken by A.D, which means that yes she probably is working for them, but she can’t be A.D herself.
That leaves us with one person…
Lucas: Lucas has ties to Charlotte, and I don’t believe him when he says he didn’t know about Charles’ transition. Why would she still go by her male name in emails to Lucas if she so badly wanted a new identity and a new start in life? Was she the girlfriend that he used to talk about? Or his other friend in Radley? Also, in an interview, Brendan stated that the look between Aria and Lucas when the girls confront him was intentional, which suggests he knew about her betraying the girls. How would he know? He’s the one setting her up. We literally saw Lucas in a limo like the one A.D was driving. Remember when we saw CeCe in a black hoodie but that was too obvious? Could it also be the limo that someone visited Charlotte’s grave in? Lucas coincidentally ‘lost’ the comic he created with Charles. If he and Charles were the only ones working on it, and Charlotte is dead, he must be the only other person to know about/have access to it.
I don’t think Lucas is working alone, I think that Wren is somehow tied up in all of this, and I also think there’s a strong chance that Toby is too.
Lucas has always been possessive of Hanna, and it makes sense to see the girls as his ‘dolls’. Ali used to bully him and none of the girls stopped her, so it makes sense why he’d want revenge. Hanna, Caleb and Emily have literally been living off of him (in his apartment, using his car etc) and he told the police about his fake alibi for Hanna. I feel like there are so many more clues but I didn’t want to make this too long!
We know he likes games and that he has worked for A before, so why couldn’t he have started the board game?

@dressrosaa and anyone else unfamiliar with pretty little liars, a postmodern tone poem about girlhood and violence, an experiment in storytelling divorced from linear time about how all cops are bastards and dads are even worse, one of the most bafflingly homophobic pieces of media i have ever seen despite the fact that the showrunner for all seven seasons is literally a lesbian like GIRL are you OKAY blink twice for I NEED THERAPY:
pretty little liars tells the story of four friends: spencer hastings (deranged genius/former and future speed addict, perfect); hanna marin (blonde shoplifter/recovering bulimic, an angel we don’t deserve); emily fields (gay swimmer, has no personality but it’s hard to tell if that’s because pll is homophobic or because shay mitchell CANNOT act but is almost hot enough to make up for it); and aria montgomerry (the fucking goddamn worst i know it’s wrong to hold this much hate in my heart for a sixteen year old who spends the ENTIRE show being sexually preyed upon but in my defense it is fiction and frankly barely even that; truly the relationship between pretty little liars and our normal human understanding of narrative is tenuous at best; the point is if aria were real she would be deserving of infinite compassion but she is not so she just sucks). a year after their queen bee alison disappears, her body is found, at which point they all start getting texts from the mysterious “A,” who knows their secrets with NSA-bugging-a-therapist’s-office precision and seems to have nothing to do in life other than to torture them into constantly endangering themselves or betraying each other or doing other horrible things that will then hang over their heads for 800 years.
PLL is sort of like what if a classic dead blonde whodunit has a nightmare octopus baby with jj abrams “mystery box” storytelling spliced together with a sense of pacing even more deranged than the magicians at its most unhinged; the reason i make so many jokes about its lack of interest in physical spacetime is because it’s technically canon that two and a half entire seasons, during which among other things spencer has a nervous breakdown and an addiction relapse and goes to rehab and then gets out of rehab T W I C E, takes place between the first week of school and thanksgiving break. it is not by any means a “good” show and it’s pretty clear that any “ideas” in it were there by accident, but watching 6 seasons in a month was one of the most enthralling television experiences of my life, and it really does love to remind you that no men on earth are good (*except for hanna’s street rat hacker boyfriend caleb played by tyler blackwell whose face makes me feel extremely safe who is the most perfect dreamboat in the history of televisual dreamboats). part of its unhinged M. O. is of course keeping you constantly guessing about who “A” is, taking you through like 7000 red herring reveals (along with some real reveals later retconned as beta-A’s working for the real A - i’m telling you this shit is fucking nuts) in which we spend a couple episodes thinking (if we have never watched a television show before) that so and so must be A, only to have their nefarious behavior explained away by some other mechanism.
i’m giving this context because i am taking your inquiry about the throwaway reference i made as a chance to explain my favorite of the A fake-outs, which centers on ezra fitz. who is ezra fitz? he is a demon in human disguise. he beats out craig manning on degrassi for worst fictional boyfriend in the history of teen melodrama. he is a dude who macks on a fifteen-year-old aria montgomery at a bar the weekend before school starts and then turns out to be, surprise! HER ENGLISH TEACHER. because the show, despite being incredible and amazing and iconic, is also very bad, their relationship, which goes on and off the entire seven seasons and winds up endgame, is sold as like a torrid and angsty secret affair, and not the creepiest thing that has ever happened. despite the fact that ezra is the closest the show has to a male lead and played by the second hottest dude on it, in season 4 they were running out of A candidates and started giving us shady clues to ezra’s shadiness, discovered and mostly put together by spencer, who simultaneously was coping with the stress of trying to get into an ivy league college while also saving herself and her friends, all of whom take turns sharing one brain cell leaving her to do all the thinking, from the constant assault of a blackmailing emotional terrorist who at this point has also tried to kill them several times. one time aria winds up in a box on a train next to a dead body and also it’s halloween and adam lambert is performing on the train, god when riverdale season 1 was good i thought riverdale was like what if pretty little liars but on purpose but with the benefit of hindsight clearly PLL had what riverdale fucking WISHES it could.
in order to deal, spencer has fallen on her old pill-popping ways (for, just to reiterate, the second time after leaving a mental institution in the span of like 10 weeks), and JUST as she is on the verge of really PROVING that their english teacher is A, she suffers a stimulant-induced psychotic break i.e. gives the show their framing device for doing a Theme Episode around the theme of Film Noir, where everything is in black and white and everyone talks funny. you can watch a clip here to get the flavor. sidebar at this point alison has appeared to every single character i think and it’s like still fully a mystery whether they all individually hallucinated her at times of stress or if she’s secretly alive. once again this show owns.
anyway her friends totally freak on spencer when she tells them her theory, because she is literally the only person in town with a brain, but then we get this amazing episode where aria (a child) is at her english teacher’s cabin for the weekend and he’s acting exactly like a serial killer the entire time and she starts to have doubts and has a very tense ski lift ride with him and THEN! THEN what’s amazing is that ezra is NOT A, but in explaining why he has been acting so shady despite not being A they manage to somehow make him not ONLY worse than an english teacher who was fucking his high school student but ALSO make him POSSIBLY WORSE THAN AN ACTUAL MURDERER IMO, because it turns out that he met alison briefly before she died/fake died and then got obsessed with her death and SO he came to town and got a job at the school AND MADE OUT WITH THIS DEAD TEENAGE GIRL’S EQUALLY TEENAGE FRIEND IN THE BAR THAT DAY AND PURSUED A SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HER AS HER ENGLISH TEACHER.............................................. IN ORDER TO DO RESEARCH FOR A TRUE CRIME BOOK. LITERALLY the most incredible thing i have ever witnessed on television. it’s SO incredible and PLL is SO far from being what you could call a “normal” “story” that my love for it is not even diminished by the fact that aria eventually takes him back because this show is evil and she is stupid (again i would NOT say that of an ACTUAL child victimized by an english teacher/pathetic truman capote wannabe, but aria is made up and not around to hear about how bad she sucks and i hate her) (my god she’s so bad guys like you simply cannot watch the show and retain empathy for her it WILL break you). it does help that in between those things ezra gets his dumb ass shot. yeah for “love” or whatever but like he deserved it i’m not gonna complain.
anyway i hope that helps clarify matters. just to stress the important part, this is not in the top 10 most deranged things that happened on this show. one time A snuck into a dentist’s office and knocked hanna out with laughing glass and implanted a tiny strip of paper in her gums which when the liars extracted it later read DEAD GIRLS DON’T SMILE. another time for a fashion show they were getting dressed up and one of them realized she was wearing a corset made of human finger-bones. they all go to jail because they have been framed but then on the way to jail they get kidnapped in an underground bunker styled to look like their childhood bedroom where A makes them milgram experiment each other for three weeks. watching this show will literally change the structures of your brain. i heard it’s finally legal in oregon now.

Spoilers for Roswell New Mexico 3x01! (Idk how to do the line thing or whatever so scroll really fast I guess?)
I am running on 4h sleep (honestly not that bad as I thought it'd be) and here are my thoughts on 3x01 (I haven't rewatch it yet so my memory may be a bit blurry)
Max is so dramatic and I love it (I aspire to write on a typewriter some dramatic letters one day)
The pod squad is happy (well mostly but I love Michael and Isobel teaming up on Max and discussing their love lives)
The bus scene was so cute! Michael fixing his hair! Alex kissing a guy in front of his dad's statue! Still not over the forlex height difference
Liz braking the rules was amazing to see, especially heath's reaction to it
I am so excited for delmanes! And the visions? Who is dying? (Thanks to everyone on discord, I am now going with the theory that it's Maria, but I also like the empty coffin one) and Alex saying they are covering up a murder?! Big pll vibes if you ask me 😆
Really liked the forlex scenes we got. But I am so confused? Did they break up? Cause is saw on one of @bisexualalienblast post that Forrest was going on a book tour, so I am so confused about what Alex is going to do? (I like the spy thing, but as Kyle said, being alone is lonely or something like that)
I love Kyle 😍 he is trying to help everyone, Maria Isobel, Alex.
Pod squad made me emotial, again. Michael saying he was happy 😭😭
Maria teasing Michael about Alex 😂
And finally, what the hell? What was that ending??? Who were these ppl in alien masks????
(Side note, I definitely don't want to see anything related to Wyatt and Rosa or Wyatt and a redemption, that is all I will say about it)

One way to accept that PLL finale was what it is, remember that the fandom is divided into two distinct parties : the obsessive shippers who mainly/only care about their endgames despite the lack of meaningful storyline/character development and the fans who were more invested in the mystery like all these amazing detectives who came up with all those amazing theories (there’s many fans in between ofc who have their OTP + wanted real answers). Marlene chose to please the shippers because she lost track of the mystery and didn’t know how to solve all the loose ends (and still some of them weren't fully satisfied). But thankfully PLL theorists are way clever and provided us with way better stories, answers and alternative endings. PLL fanfic writer also played a huge part with their amazing stories, way better plot than the show had and consistent character developments. So thank you to all of you, you are great and you made this hell that was PLL actually bearable.
