Wild strawberries would soon turn rotten, so it was Sona’s last chance to go searching for them. They would still be good for making jams and canning them for the winter - a must for her mood during those miserable, cold months. It might as well have been medicine! So it was important to find what she could - along with any other wild edibles she could find along the way.

A bit of dandelion grass here and there, some wild marjoram, a few late summer tree nuts she could dry out and roast, mushrooms- ... mushrooms? Wait...

<What sort are these?> she thought, inspecting the strangely large, reddish caps. They almost looked like agaric, but lacked some of their usual properties. Sona wasn’t about to eat mushrooms she couldn’t identify, but at the very least she wished to record them for her own studies and take a sample. Maybe the apothecary would know what it was. Out came her little pocketknife, and with a leather gloved hand she held the sturdy mushroom to make the cut...
