#Mi in April Sol in July

I'm probably going to sketch out rough poses for my Bomber-Girls OCs. Yes, you heard me right, OCs.

All of them are expy's of the Elemental Knights, and the final one is the daughter of Lilith and Rukifelth (probably mis-typed that).

Just know that while yes, I don't like the blatant fan-service (the Break images), I do love the references to past Bomberman games. Like, they seriously made a Bomber-Girl based on Sirius!

I'm still open for requests, but I am also mostly focusing on pose practice.

Also I uh.. got finished with them all before posting this post. Gosh dang. They are all sketches, but their bios are also under 'Keep Reading'.

They all have the branding of Sol-Knights. Anyone under this branding has a shorter tail than other Bomber-Girls. The longer the tail, the younger they are. They are also what's called 'Knight-type', being able to place more bombs, but move slower than others. They also have projectiles depending on who you ask!

Blaze is much more fiery than your average Bombergirl! She entered the tournament to compete with even stronger opponents than her sisters Frost and Gale.

Frost was born to train with her arm-cannon at a young age. She was also born to keep Blaze in-check, and to make sure Gale doesn't get lost following the wind.

Gale is a very playful Bombergirl who likes to go wherever the wind blows.. which usually gets her very lost! It's a good thing she has a sister like Frost to keep her from getting hopelessly lost!

Dislikes : "Shiron needs to stop getting upset when we wander off together! It's not like the wind makes me suddenly good at directions!!"

Sparx is a hyper-active Bombergirl who plays with a thunder-drum themed paddle-ball! This just causes everyone around her to feel the glorious taste of lightening!

Sol is the eldest of all the Sol-Knights, and as a result, has the most responsibilities out of all of them! She creates light with that bulb on her head, and makes sure her enemies see stars!

Grusha is the strongest, and seemingly most attractive member of the Sol-Knights. Never under-estimate her strength, because that's how you get a stone fist to the face!

Likes : "Platinum seems tough! Don't know if she likes me back, what with her lying all the time."

Dislikes : "If 'yer weak, stay out of my way!!"

A long time ago, Darkly lost her left hand in combat. She then replaced it with a blade, and also learnt how to use the Shadow Stone. Since then she has become cold and preserved.. but that somehow hasn't stopped Shiro from getting to know her!

Talia is (supposedly) the daughter of the great thieves of space Lilith and Rukifellth. She often steals stuff just to satisfy her corvid tendencies. As a result, one night, she got hold of the Chaos Stone. But uh.. it didn't corrupt her? At least.. not yet.

Lee Jung-Hoo Also Kiwoom's Troubleshooter

Lee Jung-hoo started as the third batter and center fielder in an away game against Lotte Giants in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Sajik Baseball Stadium in Busan at 6 p.m. on the 22nd and swung three hits, one walk, and one RBI in three at-bats. 토토사이트 Lee Jung-hoo's batting average this season has risen slightly from 0.313 to 0.319. Kiwoom had only 13 points and 1.63 points per game during the eight consecutive losses before the game. There was no clue to the attack in the lineup. Lee Jung-hoo was at the center of the lineup, but the performance of the rest of the batters except Kim Hye-sung was too weak. That's how the team lost eight games in a row. However, Lee Jung-hoo stepped up once again to escape the team's losing streak and eventually stood tall as a troubleshooter. Lee Jung-hoo also led the team to victory with three hits in four at-bats against the NC Dinos on the 5th, the last victory of Kiwoom in eight consecutive losses. When Lee Jung-hoo exploded three hits again, the team won.

Lee Jung-hoo's performance is getting fiercer over time. Lee Jung-hoo was sluggish with a batting average of 0.218 in April. By modifying his form, the batting balance completely collapsed. However, when he returned to his form last season, he succeeded in rebounding. Lee Jung-hoo hit 0.374 in June after hitting a batting average of 0.305 in May, signaling the return of the troubleshooter. And his batting average in July is 0.435 (20 hits in 46 at-bats. The on-base percentage in July also reached 0.518. If you go to bat twice, you will get on base more than once. Despite the victory, Kiwoom is currently in ninth place 39 wins, 2 draws and 47 losses. However, if Lee Jung-hoo continues to take the center of the lineup, there is plenty of room to hit the mid-range.

6th Avenue (No. 6)

1271 Avenue of the Americas is a 48-story office building located in Rockefeller Center in New York City. It opened in 1959 as the Time & Life Building, designed by architect Wallace Harrison, of Harrison, Abramovitz, and Harris.

1271 Avenue of the Americas was the first of four in Rockefeller Center designed by Harrison, Abramovitz, & Harris on the west side of Sixth Avenue. Harris served as the building's project manager and was responsible for overall planning. The Time & Life Building was the first expansion of Rockefeller Center west of the Avenue of the Americas.

Construction on the Time-Life Building's steelwork started in April 1958, and the structure topped out in November of that year. The cornerstone of the building was laid in June 1959, after the building's structure had been completed, and the first tenants began moving into the tower in December 1959. 

Air rights were purchased from the Roxy Theatre to the west. The Roxy was torn down in 1960 to erect an office tower connected to the Time & Life Building.

The building is clad in green glass and features column-free floors of 28,000 square feet (2,600 m2). Large murals by Josef Albers and Fritz Glarner adorn its lobby, which integrates a serpentine patterned sidewalk design found on the sidewalks of Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach with the adjacent sidewalk, a salute to its location on The Avenue of the Americas.

Time Inc., the publisher of Time, Life, Sports Illustrated, Fortune, House & Home, and Architectural Forum magazines initially occupied 21 floors. CNN's American Morning was based there from 2002 to 2006. The ground floor studio is now occupied by the studio of SportsNet New York and CNBC Squawk Box.

In July 2002, the building's ground floor interior was made an interior landmark by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

In May 2014, Time Inc announced that the company was planning to leave the Time & Life Building for the Brookfield Place complex in lower Manhattan.

Current tenants include Bessemer Trust, Blank Rome, H.I.G. Capital, Latham & Watkins, Major League Baseball, and Mizuho Securities USA.

The Hemisphere Club, a members-only restaurant during the day, was located atop the building on the 48th floor; in the evenings it opened to the public as the Tower Suite. The restaurant was operated by Restaurant Associates, which also operated The Four Seasons Restaurant, La Fonda del Sol, The Rainbow Room, The Forum of the Twelve Caesars, and later Windows on the World. The Hemisphere Club closed some time after 1991.

La Fonda del Sol was a Latin American–themed restaurant opened in the Time & Life Building's lobby by Joseph Baum in 1960. It featured bright, colorful, whimsical interiors designed by Alexander Girard and furniture by Charles Eames. It closed in 1971 and was replaced with a Fidelity Investments branch.

In addition to furniture for the La Fonda del Sol restaurant, Charles Eames designed iconic chairs for the offices of Time Incorporated which have become known as Time-Life Chairs. Eames designed them as a favor to Henry Luce, who had allowed Eames to use photos from the Time-Life archives for the pavilion he designed at the 1959 American National Exhibition in Moscow. The chairs remain in production and popular to this day, manufactured by Herman Miller of Zeeland, MI, though the original design with four legs at the base has been revised to include a fifth leg, referred to as a 5 star-base, for stability and to meet updated codes.

2019, what a year

So many things happened, I don’t even know how to start.

January

At the start of the year, I promised myself I would open up, meaning I would try and make new friends, open my heart to people, stop pitying myself, enjoy my life and simply live...

We had our last rehearsals before the tour, in a country I had not been in for over ten years, it was exciting. It was the promise of new memories, of starting off the year with the right foot

February

It was finally time, we arrived to Panama. Firstly, I spent the most time apart from my mother despite being ‘together’, nevertheless it made me realise how much I needed to breath and just how much I’ve been living for her sake

We danced and danced, though not as successfully as we have been other times. I got exasperated many times with the girl who was in “charge” of us, though I grew closer to Zoe which I appreciate, she’s nice and had we not lived together for over a week I doubt I would’ve befriended her. Also when I went back to school I saw the original signature of Hernán Cortés of 1521, what a welcome back!

Panama also meant something to my heart. For the first time someone looked at me in a way I didn’t despise. He was a musician, the singer from the group who accompanied us as we danced. We had great chemistry, he was interested and his easygoingness made me like him. He flirted and I flirted back, we exchanged numbers so when I returned home we continued texting; well, I did, he voice-messaged me and thank goodness he did because he had terrible grammar and spelling.

He was really charming and got me hooked, he knew what to say and I fell for it. The effect of his words didn’t last long though

March

We continued our conversations but they were few and far between, they got less exciting as time went by, honestly as I realised how uncultivated he actually was and how he kept on flirting with no substance underneath, it was starting to get old real fast. He sent me pictures of himself and asked me to send him some, I never openly refused just avoided it or changed the topic, but he was set on it.

When he kept on nagging me and I was at work, I left his message on seen and he had the guts to throw it back at me, I had had enough and apparently he got the memo I was not interested for he texted me to have a good day and so did I, never spoke to him again. Months later I would discover he had been married all along

April

A not very exciting month, time to focus (another word for worry) on school. I suppose the most relevant thing I did was seeing a ballet narrated by Mario Iván, it was a play for children but it was charming.

May

A month that meant much for my heart. I went back to San Joaquin after five years of absence, I started having so many negative thoughts the last time I was there, it was the start of my anxiety I just had not realised. I went back much mentally healthier, it was great to go and enjoy the contest despite me not participating. I danced and I was inspired to dance again and again.

June & July

They come together cause I cannot remember anything particularly special. We danced at Tultitlán, visited some archives but other than that I only worked

August

Oh the start of my downfall, August. Omar was designated as my mentor and we started working together. I had always like him, when I first met him I thought he was handsome but even better than that he was just... nice. So, when I was assigned I found myself quite happy about that.

We started sharing memes and texting and diverging from work, I found myself liking him more and more. I will never forget the smile he gave me when I told him he might not believe how socially awkward I actually was and he asked why, it was the kind of smile that reached his eyes, the smile that made my heart stop when I met his eyes. His smiles, his eyes, his laugh, I was growing painfully aware of how much of an effect he had on me, to the point of stupidly smiling in my classroom when I left his, of looking at the glass door hoping to see him when he left. When he came into my classroom because he had “forgotten” to give me the list to sign... I couldn’t help but smile every time.

September

Oh my lovely September, what else could I have asked? It was probably the happiest month of my life, unapologetically so.

He was the first to congratulate me on my birthday, the day after he asked me out under the excuse to celebrate (I’m still waiting to get that coffee) I was so excited, that meant he was interested, right? He was. I went to his classroom and our students saw right through us. Every time I saw him since those last days of August my heart raced. Days later he confessed he had a crush on me and it was as if my heart did a backflip, my smile so big but faltered a little when he said he had a son and an ex wife. We spoke about it the next time we met, I felt guilty for second guessing but I had made up my mind even before meeting face to face, I wanted him. He told me his story and asked if I wanted to give it a shot, if I was willing to jump, to which I replied with a “yes, I want to try”. And so, our lips met for the first time.

The next day we met before classes started and he gave me a real kiss, I can still recall his smile when he left my classroom.

We texted everyday, our mentoring sessions also became make out sessions. He was exciting. He was smart and funny, handsome and charming, caring and sharp. He was the kind of man I had waited for all my life, the kind of man I wanted to keep for as long as I could.

October

The up and down month. We had started to call each other love, to speak about more delicate topics, to tease each other sexually.

We went to the cinema but he ended up fingering me and us kissing and feeling each other up for most of the movie. He walked me home a couple times and one of those times I blurted out no one was home, I lost my virginity that day. I was not afraid, not with him, he made me feel desired and I had no more second thoughts, I just felt. I started wondering how his hot seed would feel inside me. We had sex again some days later, he had brought his bike and I asked for one last kiss before he left so he took off his helmet to kiss me once more, I’m glad I did.

Our plans didn’t work out most of the time, at the end of the months his wife sent me a message, telling me they were still married. I was so pissed, I shook in anger. The next day I saw him and he smiled at me anyway and it broke my heart, I couldn’t help but cry as he held me close to him by the waist as he came clean. He said “te quiero” and I wished he had said so before, for I did too.

November

I was so conflicted. My feelings for him still there, but my pride and morality on the line as well. I came to the conclusion I wanted to sleep with him twice more, that I would give him and myself the month to say farewell, it didn’t go as planned. We kept kissing, shorter ones, our conversations reduced but we still felt the attraction and more than that how comfortable we felt with each other. We slept together again when I got my period.

I realised how I made good friends with Caro at Uni, I trust her, I enjoy her company, so unexpectedly we became close during the year

December

I lowered my grades, I couldn’t focus. I need to work on that for my next semester. I also got assigned higher level groups at work which makes me nervous and makes me feel like I need to up my game

Omar and I continued talking and flirting and just spending time together while apart. We slept together again and that day I felt so loved, everything was so easy, he held me in his arms after, we laughed and played with each other, it felt so right, it still does.

I drew his portrait and his hand, we sexted, we joked and had heavy conversations that probably would have been better left for when we were face to face.

He makes me so happy, I cannot deny it. But I can’t deny how many questions I have either, and how guilty I feel some times. I want him to choose me but I refuse to ask him.

2019

All in all, it was a great year. I allowed myself to feel and it brought me pain but also love and much happiness. I feel I smiled so much more than in the past few years.

under the cut you will find, #177 faceclaims that can pass realistically as high schoolers and/or college students. i made this list because of three reasons: a) most of the lists i found were old and at least a good few years old so the ages are largely inaccurate b) and hence there have been more and more child stars that i feel that need to be added to this list c) and it’s about time we stopped playing ian, milo, holland, crystal, jack etc as high schoolers because let’s be honest rpc, they can’t. i love them too but let’s be real about their ages. most of them should have resources made already but almost all of them have videos etc that you can make resources out of.

The nominees list for the 12th edition of the Headies is out.

In a press statement released by the organizers of the Headies, Smooth Promotions, on Friday, April 13, 2018 “the awards academy released the list after short listing thousands of entries submitted in the year under review (from July 2016 – December 2017).” In the 12th edition of the Headies, there are over 25 categories and 77 nominees. Nigerian pop superstar Davido leads with six nominations. Singer Simi, Wizkid and rapper Olamide follow with five nominations each. There are new categories in this year’s award ceremony. They are ‘The Viewer’s Choice Award’, ‘Best Performer’ and a special category to recognize the efforts of brands that have supported the entertainment industry for the past 3 years. Run the gambut?

Q: I keep hearing “gambit” misused, as in “run the gambit,” which doesn’t make sense. What’s the deal with people confusing these two words?

A: Yes, “run the gambit” is on the loose, but “run the gamut” is much more popular in the Corpus of Contemporary American English, the British National Corpus, and News on the Web, a database from online newspapers and magazines.

The original idiomatic expression, “run the gamut,” which means to extend over an entire range, showed up in English nearly three centuries ago.

The earliest citation in the Oxford English Dictionary is from The Courtier, Robert Samber’s 1724 translation of a 16th-century etiquette book by the Italian writer Baldassare Castiglione:

“When they talk with any one, after a Pause, [they] renew their Discourse in such a Tone as if they were running over the Gamut.”

The next example is from Flim-Flams! (1805), a novel by Isaac D’Israeli, father of the British statesman Benjamin Disraeli:

“He runs through the whole gamut of the heart, from bass to treble.”

Those two early citations reflect the musical origins of the expression. As an etymology note at Merriam-Webster Online explains, the term comes from a musical scale developed in the 11th century by the musician and monk Guido d’Arezzo:

“Guido called the first line of his bass staff gamma and the first note in his scale ut, which meant that gamma ut was the term for a note written on the first staff line. In time, gamma ut underwent a shortening to gamut but climbed the scale of meaning. It expanded to cover all the notes of Guido’s scale, then all the notes in the range of an instrument, and, eventually, an entire range of any sort.”

The first English example for the noun “gamut” in the OED is from a treatise on counterpoint, written sometime before 1445, by the English composer Lionel Power:

“Gamut hathe 3 acordis: re, mi, sol be proprechaunt; re a 12, mi a 13, sol a 15.”

The dictionary notes that “run the gamut” has the rare musical sense of to “perform all the notes of the scale, or all the notes within the compass of a particular singer or instrument,” but adds that the usual, more expansive meaning of the expression is “to experience, display, or perform the complete range of something.”

When the word “gambit” showed up in English in the 17th century, according to the OED, it referred in chess to “a game, or sequence of moves, involving a sacrifice to launch an attack or gain some other advantage.”

When used in chess now, the dictionary says, the term usually refers to “an opening in which a player offers a sacrifice, typically of a pawn, for the sake of a compensating advantage.”

The earliest citation in the dictionary is from The Royall Game of Chesse-Play, Francis Beale’s 1656 translation of a work by the Italian chess writer Gioachino Greco: “Illustrated with almost an hundred Gambetts.”

In the mid-19th century, Oxford says, the term “gambit” took on two expanded senses: (1) a “remark intended to initiate or change the direction of a conversation” and (2) a “plan, stratagem, or ploy that is calculated to gain an advantage, esp. at the outset of a contest, negotiation, etc.”

The dictionary’s earliest citation for the first sense is from the Jan. 1, 1853, issue of Punch: “Would you think I … played Knight’s gambit, or rather opening, if I ventured the colloquial critique—‘very fine oysters!’ ”

The earliest example for the second sense is from Memoirs of the Court and Cabinet of George III (1855), by the Duke of Buckingham:

“The dashing gambit which his opponent directed, was neither evaded with caution nor defended with skill.”

As for “run the gambit,” the misuse has been around for dozens of years. The earliest example we’ve found is from Fuad: King of Egypt, a 1936 biography by the Indian author Sirdar Ikbal Ali Shah:

“Zaghlul was the popular idol, and anyone who was even faintly critical of his activities must perforce run the gambit of mob disapproval.”

And here’s a double whammy from the official record of an April 1, 1959, hearing about freight car shortages, held by a US Senate subcommittee in Kansas City, Kansas:

“All the cars that go out to my district, the main industry of which is lumber, have to run the gambit in California, or they have to run the gambit in Washington.” (The speaker, Rep. Charles O. Porter, an Oregon Democrat, addressed the Freight Car Shortage Subcommittee of the Senate Interstate and Foreign Commerce Committee.)

This excerpt from a 1947 book in the Foreign Relations of the United States series, the State Department’s official record of major American foreign policy decisions, describes Soviet policies toward the West:

“The zigs and zags have run the gambit from out and out revolutionary hostility to the Popular Front with Social Democrats during the 30’s, the pact with Hitler, Big Power unity, parliamentary ‘cooperation’ and now back to anti-parliamentary, anti-imperialist revolutionary hostility and noncooperation.”

We’ve found hundreds of more recent examples for “run the gambit,” including these:

“Food offerings run the gambit from Wisconsin classics like cheese curds and pretzel sticks to salmon and sirloin” (from the Aug 10, 2017, issue of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel).

“Let’s run the gambit of possible outcomes, which not surprisingly range from ‘everyone dies’ to “everyone dies’ ” (from a Jan. 20, 2017, item on Huffington Post).

“They also run the gambit as far as really good guys” (from a May 23, 2016, post on the website of Entertainment Weekly).

“Villa options run the gambit from deluxe pads to rustic fincas” (from the July, 18, 2015, issue of the Guardian).

“Wedding flowers are an expression of individual taste and run the gambit from lush exotics to simple handmade arrangements” (from the Feb. 15, 2015, Hartford Courant).

“The Forest Service has closed 886,000 acres of forests to the public because of the infiltration of pot growers, who run the gambit from ‘flower children” caught in a ’60s time warp to dangerous organized criminals” (from the Nov. 2, 1988, Christian Science Monitor).

Garner’s Modern English Usage (4th ed.) says, “Misusing gambit for gamut is an increasingly common malapropism,” but Bryan A. Garner, the author, lists it at only the lowest stage in his five-stage language-change index.

The term “malapropism” refers to the unintentionally comic misuse of a word, especially by confusing it with a similar-sounding one. The misuse of “gambit” for “gamut” may also be called an “eggcorn,” mistaking a word or phrase for a similar-sounding one.

A 2005 entry by the linguist Ben Zimmer on the Eggcorn Database cites “run the gambit” and includes several more examples.

The database also has a 2005 contribution by the linguist Arnold Zwicky on the variation “run the gamete.” A “gamete” (1878) is a male or female reproductive cell.

Interestingly, “run the gamete” is almost as popular as “run the gambit” in general online searches, and one of the examples we’ve found even uses the expression correctly:

“Hotels run the gamete” is a Nov. 3, 2005, headline in USA Today about Caribbean procreation vacations that include romantic dinners, spa treatments, and island potions said to increase the chances of a pregnancy.

Finally, here’s a comment about “run the gambit” from The American Heritage Guide to Contemporary Usage and Style:

“As is often the case with idioms, the original meanings of the words composing them can be lost, obscured, or confused. In this case, the uncommon word gamut is sometimes confused with the word gambit.”

Although the term “gambit” has expanded significantly from its original chess usage, American Heritage concludes, “the phrase run the gambit is a mistake.” We’ll add that “run the gamete” is too, despite that procreative exception.
