A Promise is a Promise.

So, around a year and a half ago, I wrote a long fic called The Accomplice Effect. Lots of readers really loved it, but I was struck by writer’s block during part of it, so, had always been unhappy with some sections written when I was worst affected. Also, I believe being back in the habit of writing again, has helped me to improve, so I knew the story needed polished.

I removed it from AO3 about a year ago, always intending to rewrite the whole thing, and hands down, of all the stories I’ve written, this is the one, everyone asks me about and when I’m putting it back up.

So, after hundreds of hours on this, (and my current fic on hold for a couple of weeks to get this done) it’s almost ready to go, so what happens?

Ao3 goes tits up.

I wanted this fic to be a humble Christmas gift to all of my loyal readers, and those also unfamiliar with my work. It’s the bullying fic I’m talking about, which is what most people seem to refer to it as. Anyway here’s the blurb (aiming for posting the full 80k+ words by Christmas Eve).

Hi guys! It almost snuck up on us because it’s hard to believe it’s been a year already, but today is officially this blog’s first anniversary!

We clearly didn’t expect such a rapid growth but the blog hit 500 followers three months and a half ago and as of today, we’ve grossed over 5k notes on our posts, and for that we have to thank all of you who like and reblog our recs 🥰 And let’s not forget the couple of submissions we get every month, those are very cool too!

Now, a couple more numbers for the fun of it (and maybe because one of us is a stats nerd, who knew).

For Maïna needs to make her life easier purposes, this is considering every fic in our spreadsheet as of the 8th of June 2021. This includes roughly 30 fics that are in the queue/drafts, that will therefore be posted after our one year anniversary but let’s consider this a detail. So we have:

While we aim for diversity and love to discover new pairings, we do have our faves, the most recced are as follows:

What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?*

I never got on board with Cressi (Cristiano Ronaldo/Lionel Messi) on football rpf. I get it from the two best players of an era point of view, and the rivalry when they were in Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, but I sense no interpersonal chemistry there.

Hockey rpf - it’s more like ship and let ship for me, not everything works for me like it may work for someone else (and I think the fandom is more spread all over anyway, there are so many pairings that not all are fixed as a consensus OTP’s I think, and the big ones actually DO make sense even if they don’t interest me personally)

4. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they a popular OTP?

I think Cressi can be in this one too. And in hockey rpf there are some pairings that have recently been popular that just don’t work for me. Like Leon Draisaitl/Matthew Tkachuck, I can’t think of clicking any of those fics open.

7. Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*

Not due to pairings but due to negative interaction in fandom, if I don’t like the author as a person at all I won’t want to read more of their fic even if I have liked their work earlier.

22. Popular character you hate?

In my fandoms - None really. There is so much fic it’s easy to skip what I don’t like.

23. Unpopular character you love?

In hockey - Teppo Numminen. No matches found for his name on ao3, not even as a side character. He was the first one to come to mind, but in general it’s very rare to see mentions of older finnish hockey players.
