The Women in Media group has been for Mary Stott a major focus for the fight for women's equality. Founded in 1970 by a small group of women journalists, including Mary Stott, the group quickly expanded to include women from radio, television, magazines, publishing, advertising, the theatre, cinema, and public relations. 'Concerned that so much of our culture trivializes and exploits women we wanted to break down discrimination by examining the conditions of women's work and promotion opportunities, and to provide facts to influence change. We had no rules and there was no membership qualification. Any woman concerned to help free women from the limitations imposed on them by society in work, at home, in public or in private life was welcome,' she wrote with Josephine King in 1977 in their Introduction to a selection of articles on women in the media.
'Many members knew what it was like, personally or through friends and colleagues, to be told either bluntly or by implication: "You can't do that. You're a woman." Many worked at the BBC where until recently it was almost Holy Writ that women couldn't read the news, much less be seen to read it' (1977, p. 1).
While I don't want to put a dampener on the achievements of Women in Media - which have been considerable - I still think it is important to point out that 'progress' isn't as simple as it seems. There was a time when the BBC did think women were suitable news readers - during the war when it was thought desirable for the men to hear a woman's voice! Those women disappeared very quickly when the war was over, and the BBC quickly reverted to its policy of declaring that women's voices weren't suitable for the serious business of reporting the news - and sporting results.
And even today, while there are more women newsreaders on the radio (although they are by no means half) it has to be noted that radio is the poor relation and that the pattern of women's employment has generally been to 'let women in' after power and prestige have left. (My sister, Lynne Spender fervently declares that one of the reasons women have been ‘let into’ publishing in increased numbers of late is because the printed word is becoming the poor relation with the explosion in 'high tech' information: in Britain there are now more video shops than book shops: see Lynne Spender, 1983.)
Sadly, when it comes to women's issues there is no such thing as winning a battle once and for all: too frequently some women are let into particular positions in response to a demand, but when the demand ceases, so too do the appointments. We find that there is a drift back to males being considered the most suitable candidates. No doubt if Women in Media conducted a survey at the BBC today there would be many who would vehemently declare that there was no discrimination against women, who would be prepared to argue that there were as many women newsreaders as men - and who would even go so far as to insist that it was just the other way around, and that it was men who were likely to be discriminated against because outright favouritism was being shown to women! The name given to this form of behaviour is called backlash: it means protesting that things have gone far enough before inroads are made into your power base. Such is the effect of a few women main newsreaders for a relatively short period of time.

Novel Syllabus 2024
This coming year I think I'm going to be on here more often than I am on twitter or elsewhere, and as part of that, I'm going to start documenting the process of writing my novel more actively. so i have some random questions, maybe you could answer, and am curious if any have had any academic papers written up about them, or if you just.. know where to find the information? Bit of a meta question: How much information do we actually have of the gang on their days in Geneva around the time of digging into their ghost stories? Is it just ex. what you've posted before of their journals of the time, or do we have other later recollections akin to Mary's own in her intro of Frankenstein? Just how much remains, and how much can we pull from various sources etc? (research is fun, go off on this on, i love to read it.) The evening before mary's waking dream, do we have any further recollection by the others on their discussions on the principle of life, other than her account? Or even in general by the squad thru their lives, does anyone dig into the technological advancements and scientific theories of their time, or even those of the Enlightenment thinkers? (Newton, Hooke, Boyle, et al.) I assume since it's the Romantics with their general dislike of the prior period it's a no, and also because I'm asking about bloody poets, not academics, but..? Likewise, anything written by the gang on her waking dream and the effects after? (could've sworn I read something about Mary appearing gastly pale?) (I'd love to hear your thoughts and rants and rambles on the following, :D): Or do we have anything written by others outside the gang in reference to her dream after she gave her Intro? Something like.. (I can't articulate this well, pls bear with me; ) Has there been any sort of mysticism, or poetic acknowledgement of Mary's 'waking dream'/'hallucination' being written as something 'supernatural'? Anything written akin to that one parody/horror film you mentioned where everyone basically hallucinates that night lol. like.. Mary's Intro gives such an inherent je ne sais quoi (lol) of.. this entire fragment of history? It reads like a frozen slice of a gothic novel/poem in itself. Very 'based on a true story' but the true story holds more substance than Frankenstein itself. As if Mary herself was in a gothic novel writers could only dream of. Has nobody noted this? Tried to catch it, wax poetic on it? I feel like there's a.. gravitas here but I don't see anyone speak of it? (other than that horror film.)
This will be long!
Re: Geneva 1816 sources: We have letters, journals, records (like receipts), accounts from the other people on the lake, accounts from aristocrats Byron visited at Geneva without the Shelleys presence, and some accounts from Lord Byron's Geneva servants given to inquiring tourists later on. Lake Geneva was an insulated aristocratic vacation town and gossip abounded.
First-person documents: - Polidori’s 1816 journal, his prefaces to The Vampyre and Ernestus Berchtold. - History of a Six Weeks Tour, Mary’s first book, co-written with Shelley; travelogue containing letters and journals from their travels in 1814 and 1816. - Mary Shelley’s other journals and letters. - Mary Shelley's (voluntarily uncredited) contributions to Thomas Moore's biography series on Byron, where the time in Geneva is talked about and where most of the funny stories come from, and a handful of comments in Thomas Moore's diaries/letters regarding Mary's recollections. - Byron’s letters, found here on Peter Cochran's site (he was an editor/scholar & leading Byronist) https://petercochran.wordpress.com/byron-2/byron/
Best books about the summer of 1816: - Byron in Geneva by David Ellis, - The Poet and the Vampyre by Andrew Stott, - The Making of Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" by Daisy Hay.
Books on Frankenstein or the tech & science of the time in relation to Mary & other Romantics: way too many to mention! Frankenstein is one of the most written about works of all time, and tech discourse is inherent to Romanticism — there are tons of books & articles written about all topics. Percy studied science with James Lind and was inspired by Erasmus Darwin who Mary refers to in a Frankenstein preface.
On if others at Diodati recollected specifically about Frankenstein or Mary being pale: Percy wrote a review of Frankenstein as well as the novel's introduction section (he wrote it from Mary's POV), and he mentioned the novel in his letters; Claire discusses it several times in her letters with praise, Byron mentions it once or twice with brief compliments; Polidori mentions it in the preface to Ernestus Berchtold in compliment but with possible jealousy beneath. Your "pale" reference likely refers to how she and Byron said she looked when learning of the news of Percy's missing boat; I made a post about that (https://www.tumblr.com/burningvelvet/710178692214784000/from-conversations-of-lord-byron-with-the-countess?source=share).
My Interpretation of Mary's "waking dream": This was largely metaphorical. Mary probably did have an inspirational dream (scientists have found evidence: https://m.csmonitor.com/Science/2011/0928/Frankenstein-moon-Astronomers-vindicate-Mary-Shelley-s-account) but at the same time I do think she sensationalized the trip a bit. From the novel The Poet and the Vampyre: "these [visits to Diodati were] not always convivial - Mary describing the 13 August visit in a single word: 'War.'" Mary, like everyone else, mythologized the summer of 1816. The preface to the 1831 edition of Frankenstein (different from the 1818 original) sensationalizes the origins with a gothic flare because that’s what she knew her fans wanted; she was a widowed single mother in her 30s determined to make a living off her writing, and she enjoyed the immense popularity of Frankenstein, helping to proliferate it through the wildly successful stage adaptation which was spookier and showier than the philosophical novel.
Mary “said the three or four months she passed there were the happiest of her life,” (source: Thomas Moore’s journal, vol. 5, p. 178, via Internet Archive). Before, and especially after this summer of 1816, Mary experienced many traumas which left her with severe depression, and so she romanticized that time, ignoring all of the many ongoing problems surrounding it.
1816 was extraordinary fun for all of them, but it was not paradise. The summer was littered with actual storms as well as emotional storms. In the 1831 preface Mary makes no mention of Claire’s existence, though Claire was the only reason they were even there, since Claire wanted to visit Byron who she was having a horribly drawn out affair with. The two dramatically broke up that summer, made worse by Claire then revealing she was pregnant with his child. There was also a lot of drama with Polidori (writer, and Byron’s doctor) who fought with Byron and Percy, threatening Percy to duel him over a sailing race.
Mary was also in denial about Percy’s many problems. Shelley was mentally and physically ill, perpetually on the run from debtors who had imprisoned him, disowned by his family for being kicked out of Oxford due to atheism, publicly notorious, had a wife and children back in England, and more than likely had an ongoing affair with Claire, causing Byron to briefly wonder at their child’s paternity. Still, Mary was madly in love with Percy from the time she met him until her last moments on Earth when she died staring at his preserved heart which she requested to be buried with. She shared his struggles and spent much of her life defending him, and she's the reason he achieved posthumous fame thanks to her relentlessly promoting, annotating, editing, transcribing, publishing, and republishing his works.
She occasionally does hint at the drama of that time, and how hurt she felt at times, but generally Mary ignored these things, as well as their many other flaws, so that she could remain on good terms with all of them (especially Claire and Byron after their break-up). Despite the drama, she had felt the good times at Lake Geneva were the best times of her life thus far. She was in the most beautiful place in the world, she loved traveling, she felt inspired to write, her baby was healthy and had a good nanny, her own health improved, she spent fun times with her lover who was happily preoccupied with sailing, Claire (who she loved but also found annoying) was preoccupied with Byron, and she found Byron fascinating.
Not even a year after the trip, she was already painfully reminiscing about her good memories:
“that time is past, and this will also pass, when I may weep to read these words, and again moralise on the flight of time. Dear Lake! I shall ever love thee,”
“We may see [Byron] again, and again enjoy his society; but the time will also arrive when that which is now an anticipation will be only in the memory. Death will at length come, and in the last moment all will be a dream.”
“why is not life a continued moment where hours and days are not counted — but as it is a succession of events happen — the moment of enjoyment lives only in memory and when we die, where are we?”
Frankenstein was started in the summer of 1816 and first published in 1818. Then there was an 1831 edition, the most commonly read today, which is slightly different (slightly less radical for Victorian audiences) and which includes the preface which refers to the “waking dream.” Scholars have noted that Mary’s recollection is partly based on her mythologizing and romanticizing her youth. This is even more obvious considering all of the traumas she had experienced afterward. In her journals (via Project Gutenberg) she often refers to her youth as being like a dream before Percy's death. She was seeing her life through rose-tinted glasses to cope, and possibly experiencing depression-related derealization.
Condensed timeline of Mary’s traumas to show what I mean about the Frankenstein period being a relatively happier time for her: Her mother died giving birth to her. June 1814: her and her step-sister Claire run away with Shelley. Problems with her father for years after (though they eventually rekindle). Feb 1815: 1st child dies, becomes pregnant a few months later. Jan 1816: has 2nd child who is healthy. Summer 1816: Geneva summer, begins writing Frankenstein; Claire in love with and pregnant by Byron before their relationship dissolves. Oct 1816: Mary’s half-sister Fanny kills herself. Dec 1816: Shelley’s wife kills herself; Mary marries Percy to protect their kids & so he can gain custody of his first 2 kids. Mar 1817: they stay in Marlowe; Mary described this as maybe their happiest residence, and this is where she wrote much of Frankenstein. 1817 misc.: court denies them custody of Shelley's first two kids due to his unorthodoxy; Percy self-exiles from England, they move to Italy, move around continuously, & suffer illness. Sept 1817: 3rd baby is born & dies. Jan 1818: Frankenstein published. June 1819: 2nd child dies while Mary is pregnant with 4th child. Nov 1819: has 4th & only surviving baby (Percy Florence, who lives a long life). 1821: Polidori dies from suspected suicide. April 1822: Claire & Byron’s baby Allegra dies. June 1822: news of Allegra’s death. Mary almost dies from a miscarriage, Percy saves her life. July 1822: Percy dies in a boat accident. Their social circle splits up. Claire moves to Russia. After comforting her, Mary’s closest friend Jane (whose husband died with Percy; the two couples lived together) breaks up their friendship & moves abroad. Mary suffers multiple social conflicts which are largely not her fault, & becomes socially isolated. 1823: Byron & their mutual friend Trelawny join the Greek War. 1824: Byron dies. Mary writes her apocalyptic novel The Last Man as a tribute to her broken social circle & it’s members.
From her journal, Oct 2, 1822: “Father, mother, friend, husband, children—all made, as it were, the team which conducted me here, and now all, except you, my poor boy (and you are necessary to the continuance of my life), all are gone, and I am left to fulfill my task.”
Several times, she wrote that the only reason she didn’t kill herself was because of her son Percy. However, note: Her life did improve after The Last Man. It's a bit of an outdated view that she was just a stereotypical depressed widow forever after. She was a strong and determined woman, and she eventually had a full social circle, friends, married son, daughter-in-law, flirtations, a successful writing career, hobbies, and so on. She found meaning through motherhood, writing, and paying tribute to Percy. However, for all these reasons, she saw the period of Frankenstein and prior to be some of the happiest times of her life and a "calm before the storm" (literally, the storm that killed Percy), which explains all the above.

Old October Tales: Dr. Thomas Neill Cream
Tumblr media
October 02, 2022
Thomas Neill Cream was born in Glasgow, and raised outside of Quebec City, Canada, when his family moved there in 1854. He went to school at McGill University, in Montreal, Canada, and graduated with an MDCM degree in 1876. Ironically, his thesis was on chloroform.
Thomas trained at St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School in London and in 1878 he obtained qualifications to perform as a physician and surgeon in Edinburgh. Thomas returned to North America looking to practice in a community that needed more doctors. He first began in Des Moines, Iowa, before relocating in London, Ontario, Canada.
In 1876, Thomas was living in Waterloo, Quebec and met a woman named Flora Brooks. The two began dating and Flora became pregnant after Thomas had promised to marry her. However, Thomas attempted to perform an abortion on Flora, but failed, and it left her severely sick.
After this Thomas tried to leave Montreal, but was caught by Flora’s father, who then forced him to marry her. The day after Thomas married Flora he left to go to England to continue his medical education. Flora and her family never saw or heard from Thomas again, and Flora died of consumption in 1877, despite almost having fully recovered from the failed abortion.
When Thomas returned to North America in 1878, he was charged under Ontario’s Medical Act with practicing without a license. Thomas pled guilty to these charges, but this did not end up losing patients for him.
In 1879, a woman named Catharine Hutchinson Gardner was found dead in a privy behind Thomas’ office at 204 Dundas Street. Catharine had been pregnant, and had been murdered with a handkerchief soaked with chloroform. Apparently Catharine had gone to Thomas for an abortion, to which he refused to help her. Thomas told her to accuse a local businessman of being the father.
Thomas said that Catharine had threatened to poison herself when he refused to perform an abortion on her, and she had written a letter that stated the businessman was the father of her baby. Catharine’s roommate however, denied that she had ever written a letter, as the signature and handwriting did not match Catharine’s. The letter was dismissed as forgery. There was evidence that Thomas had everything to do with Catharine’s death, but authorities took no other action.
Thomas began a medical practice close to the red-light district in Chicago, offering illegal abortions to sex workers. In August of 1880, Thomas was investigated after a sex worker, Mary Anne Faulkner died, and it was alleged that Thomas had operated on her. There was a lack of evidence and Thomas escaped prosecution.
In December 1880, another one of Thomas’ patients, Miss Stack, died after treatment, and Thomas supposedly attempted to blackmail the pharmacist that filled Miss Stack’s prescription.
In April 1881, a woman named Alice Montgomery died of strychnine poisoning after an abortion. She died in a rooming house a block away from Thomas’ office. Her case was ruled a murder, however it was never solved.
On July 14, 1881, Daniel Stott died of strychnine poisoning at his home in Boone County, Illinois, after Thomas had given him a remedy for epilepsy. His death was ruled as natural causes, but Thomas wrote to the coroner on the case, and blamed the pharmacist for Daniel’s death.
Both Thomas and Mrs. Julia A. Stott who was supposedly Thomas’ mistress, were both arrested. Julia had supposedly gotten poison from Thomas to kill her husband, Daniel. Julia put all of the blame on Thomas, which left him facing the murder conviction alone. He was sentenced to life in prison at Joliet Prison. Daniel’s friends got a tombstone for him which read, “Daniel Stott Died June 12, 1881 Aged 61 Year, poisoned by his wife and Dr Cream.”
Thomas Cream was released from prison in July 1891, this happened due to Thomas’ brother allegedly bribing authorities.
Thomas’ father died in 1887, so he took the money he inherited and sailed to England, arriving in Liverpool on October 1, 1891.
On October 13, 1891, Ellen “Nellie” Donworth, who was a 19 year old sex worker, received two letters from Thomas, and agreed to meet up with him. Nellie became severely sick that night and died from what was later found as strychnine poisoning. Thomas again, wrote to the coroner on the case under a pseudonym A. O’Brien, a detective. This A. O’Brien asked for £300,000 in exchange for the name of the person who killed Nellie.
Thomas also wrote to a man named W.F.D. Smith, who owned W H Smith bookstalls, accusing him of the murder and asking for money for his silence.
On October 20, 1891, Thomas met 27 year old sex worker Matilda Clover, offered her pills and told her to take 4 before bed. Matilda began experiencing violent, painful spasms in the night and died shortly after. Her death was thought to be heart failure due to alcohol withdrawal.
Thomas, under the name M. Malone, wrote a letter to physician Dr. William Broadbent, claiming Broadbent’s involvement in Matilda’s death and asking for £25,000 for his silence. Dr. Broadbent actually contacted Scotland Yard and set a trap for the blackmailer to be caught by collecting the money he wanted, but he never was.
On April 2, 1892, Thomas returned to London after vacationing in Canada, and met Louise Harvey, a sex worker. He offered her two pills and insisted that she swallow them immediately. Louise was suspicious of Thomas, and had pretended to swallow the pills but secretly threw them into the River Thames.
On April 11, 1892, Thomas met two sex workers, Alice Marsh aged 21 and Emma Shrivell, aged 18. He spent the night with them and gave them each 3 pills and a can of tinned salmon. Both women died from strychnine poisioning.
Thomas was eventually caught through his blackmail letters. Police were quickly discovering that those who were being blamed for the deaths had nothing to do with them. Thomas had referred to the murder of Matilda Clover in the blackmail letter, except Matilda’s death was initially ruled from natural causes related to her drinking.
Police realized that the person writing this blackmail letters was actually a serial killer, and soon became known as the “Lambeth Poisoner.”
Thomas met with a policeman from New York City was who visiting London. The policeman had heard of the poisoner and Thomas had given him a tour of where the victims had lived. The policeman mentioned this to a British police officer who thought Thomas’ knowledge was suspicious.
Police put Thomas under surveillance and watched as his met up with various sex workers. They also learned about Thomas’ history, including his conviction of murder by poison in 1881.
An inquest into Matilda’s death was held in July 1892, with a letter signed by “Jack the Ripper” declaring Thomas as innocent. This produced laughter from the crowd including Thomas himself. The jury concluded that Matilda died from strychnine poisoning administered by Thomas Neill.
On June 3, 1892, Thomas was arrested for the murder of Matilda Clover, and on July 13 he was formally charged with the murders of Clover and Donworth, Marsh and Shrivell, the attempted murder of Harvey and extortion.
Dr. Thomas Neill Cream’s trial lasted from October 17-21, 1892. After deliberating for 12 minutes, the jury found him guilty on all counts and he was sentenced to death.
On November 15, 1892, Thomas was hanged at Newgate Prison by James Billington. According to Billington, Thomas’ last words were, “I am Jack The...” Billington believed that this was proof that Thomas was the infamous Jack the Ripper.
However, many police officials and others who were present at the execution say that there was no mention of any of this happening. Thomas was also in prison during the Jack the Ripper murders in 1888, so he wouldn’t of been able to kill anyone.
Others believe that right before being hanged, Thomas lost control over his bodily functions and may have been saying “I ejaculated” which would of sounded like “Jack.”
Ripperologist Donald Bell believed that Thomas had bribed officials to be let out of prison before his release, and Sir Edward Marshall-Hall actually suspected that Thomas’ prison term had been served by a look a like.
Writer Chris Scott actually won an Arthur Ellis Award for Best Crime Novel in 1989, titled “Jack” which is based on the premise that Thomas was Jack the Ripper.
In addition to his charges, Thomas is suspected in the murder of his wife Flora Brooks in 1877, along with at least four other women who died in his care.

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg: “I believe that people always need religion”
COGwriter
A reader sent me a link to a German language article titled: KARL-THEODOR ZU GUTTENBERG: „ICH GLAUBE, DER MENSCH BRAUCHT IMMER RELIGION“ 12/28/23 (URL: https://www.augsburger-allgemeine.de/politik/interview-karl-theodor-zu-guttenberg-ich-habe-mit-meinem-damaligen-scheitern-frieden-geschlossen-id68462711.html) and machine-translated the German into English, which is as follows:
Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg: “I believe that people always need religion”
The former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg analyzed the situation of the churches in Germany in a 90-minute RTL documentary {12/26/23} … For him personally, faith is “a basic support in life”.
In the ntv interview, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg expressed the conviction that people would not be able to get along without religion given “so many unanswered questions in life”. He emphasized:
“I believe that people always need religion. No yoga mat can replace that. …
“The core message that the church spreads is still an extremely comforting one. One that can give people support. This is important.”
Personally, his faith helps him “almost every day.” Even though he doesn’t go to church every Sunday and he “occasionally” struggles with his faith as well as with the institution of the church, …
Zu Guttenberg even believes that troughs in faith combined with a critical debate are important because they keep the debate “active”. He emphasized that when it comes to wanting to change the church, “one should be part of ‘the club’ and not just try to influence it from outside.” That’s why leaving the church is “not an option” for him, said the 52-year-old. …
He sees it as an important task of the church to offer “a clever translation” of the Bible into our time. …
Overall, he is “worried about the church, but I’m not completely worried,” Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg summed up to n-tv.
This is of interest for several reasons.
One reason is his idea of “a clever translation” of the Bible is concerning as the WEF, certain ecumenical promoters, and others want to re-word parts of the Bible as they want the biblical truth changed for political (see SN: WEF Calls for AI to Rewrite Bible, Create ‘Religions That Are Actually Correct’) and other inappropriate reasons (see PETA uses ChatGPT to make blasphemous Bible)–to do so is a blasphemous heresy. Baron Guttenberg is presumably a supporting member of the World Economic Forum (WEF) as he once spoke at one of its conferences (Stott M. German minister fears “infectious momentum” in Mideast. Reuters, January 28, 2011), hence his comments may align with what some in the WEF are advocating.
Another reason the documentary Herr Guttenberg was in was of interest is that I posted the following here a month before it was broadcast:
Another thing I have speculated about him was that Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg would be involved with religion. (Thiel B. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is to become a ‘media brand’? Another COGwriter speculative prediction confirmed? COGwriter, November 25, 2023)
Well, that documentary suggests that he is involved in religion and his comments suggest that he wants to change it.
That is something that the coming King of the North will do. The Bible teaches:
38 … he shall honor a god of fortresses; and a god which his fathers did not know … (Daniel 11:38)
Related to Karl Guttenberg and Daniel 11:38, back in 2010, I posted:
I consider that Germany’s Defence Minister Baron Karl-Theodor von und zu Guttenberg is someone to watch as both a potential future King of the North and final political leader known … as the Beast …
From the passages in Daniel we see that this king is not truly devoted to any existing religion, but that he somehow promotes another. One way this could be done would be to come up with a new order within Catholicism (which is not that hard to do as my great-aunt Mary did that last century). A new order allows one to have certain unique characteristics while still claiming to be part of the Roman Catholic faith. And in the King of the North’s view, if he promotes an order that (at first at least) seems fairly Catholic, this ruse will work for some time. …
He has the right to select the priest for his parish.  Hence, the idea that political leaders should be involved with religion is something he was raised up believing. A leader combining church and state is prophesied in Daniel 11:37-38 and Revelation 13.
Also, if certain Catholic prophecy about the “Great Monarch” is correct, this leader will change the Catholic faith and offend many of the Catholic clergy:
Francis also speaks in a series of letters to Simeon de Limena, Count of Montalto in great detail of a future Great Monarch who will be a Roman Emperor. Limena was a great patron of St. Francis’ order and also a great military protector of the Church…Several potentially confusing things are now told about this future Monarch. He is described as founding a new religious order. To the reader this may sound like he also become a priest. That is not the case. What happens is that he founds a religious order, part of which contains military men who take religious vows. He will be the head of the military arm of this order. In this sense it will be like the Knights Templar of the Middle Ages.
St. Francis of Paula (15th Century)…“He shall be the founder of a new religious order different from all others. (Birch, DA. Trial, Tribulation & Triumph: Before During and After Antichrist. Queenship Publishing Company, Goleta (CA), 1996, pp. 276-270)
Franciscan Friar (18th century). “All the religious orders will be suppressed, except one, the rule of which will be as rigid and severe as that of the monks of the past. During these calamities the Pope will die. As a result, the most powerful anarchy will prevail within the Church.”  (Dupont, Yves. Catholic Prophecy: The Coming Chastisement. TAN Books, Rockford (IL), 1973, p. 79)
Sister Marianne Gaultier (18th century): “…the Prince shall reign, whom people did not esteem before, but whom they shall then seek.  (Dupont, p. 75).
D. Birch (commenting after the above in his book), “Many of the prophecies speak of the fact that the Great King at first will not be well-liked, especially by the French clergy” (Birch, p. 276).
Even if the above is in total error, the biblical fact is that the future King of the North and final political leader known biblical as the Beast will not truly be a devoted Catholic.  He will likely simply claim that religion, change it, and ultimately attempt to destroy it. (Thiel B. PCG Claims Karl Guttenberg is a “Devoted Roman Catholic”, COGwriter has a different view. COGwriter, March 16, 2010)
Could Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg possibly establish, officially or unofficially, a new order of some type of ‘Catholicism’?
Yes, but that would NOT be the faith of the original catholic church unless he repents.
If Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg does establish, officially or unofficially, a new order of some type of ‘Catholicism’ that will be even more reason to “watch” (cf. Mark 13:37) him as a Beast candidate.

The Middle East, Prophecy, and Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg
Iran and Israel have been involved with various attacks and threats against each other. Does the Bible seem to prophesy that Iran and Syria will attack Israel? Will God always protect Israel? Will Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ protect it? Is “great damage” prophesied to come to Jerusalem? What about damage to Syria’s capital Damascus? What was Isaiah inspired to write? Could a peace deal come after a regional conflict in the Middle East? Could Baron Karl-Theodor Maria Nikolaus Johann Jacob Philipp Franz Joseph Sylvester Freiherr von und zu Guttenberg (KT) be the “prince” of Daniel 9:26-27, who becomes the King of the North of Daniel 11? Was KT spurned, rejected, and passed over for advancement consistent with one rendering of Daniel 11:21? Does KT have the ancestral and religious background to be the “Great Monarch” of Greco-Roman Catholic prophecies? Does KT have the digital background to be able to be involved in the 666 controlling of buying and selling (Revelation 13:16-18)? Should you be watching the Middle East and Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg? Dr. Thiel answers these questions and more.

SNOWBALL FIGHT IS FOLLOWED BY ASSAULT CHARGE,” Hamilton Spectator. March 14, 1931. Page 7. ---- But Case is Dismissed By Magistrate Burbidge --- Big Brothers Told to Look Into the Situation ----- Stole Scrap Metal, George Odenski is Remanded --- Samuel and Mrs. Mary Ginaberg. 6 Windsor street, were before Magistrate Burbidge, in police court to-day on a charge of aggravated assault, preferred by Peter Skoretz, 15 Windsor street. Skorets exhibited a bandaged thumb and said it was broken, but his worship examined it and decided it was only sprained.
The children of both families were involved in a snowball fight, and the Skorets boy came home crying When the complainant went to the Ginsberg home to remonstrate with the parents, he claimed that the accused pair assaulted him, causing actual bodily harm. After hearing the evidence, which covered many phases of the neighborhood strife, the magistrate dismissed the case, and commissioned Reg Stott, of the Big Brothers, to investigate the juvenile angle of the case, and use whatever methods he thought necessary to bring peace to the district.
Got Three Months Lee Yon, no address, was convicted of vagraney, and sentenced to three months in jail. Yon was taken into custody when he acted strangely in a local hotel where he was staying. Breach of LCA Charles Histead, no address, was found in possession of a liquor per mit which had been obtained by him under a false name and address and he was fined $100 or three months. Theft From Railway George Odenski, 92 Woodleigh avenue, pleaded guilty to stealing scrap metal from the C.N.R., and was remanded until Wednesday for sentence. Police found the man in possession of about 350 pounds of scrap, which he was about to sell for 50c. When the car from which the scrap was taken was weighed, It was found that 2,000 pounds of scrap was missing, but no account of this large amount is available. The accused states he only took the scrap which the police found. William Schreiber defended Odenskl.

'You know all about the Co-operative Women's Guild of course,' [Mary Stott] said to me, defying disagreement, and then added, 'even if its only from the books of letters from Co-operative guild women, edited by Margaret Llewelyn Davies.' She went on to give a glowing account of this magnificent woman - the niece of Emily Davies who had founded Girton College - and who put all her energy into the working-class women's movement. 'It just wasn't true that the women's movement was a middle-class movement and that working-class women weren't involved,' she said, 'It's not true that it was just a fight for the vote and that only bourgeois women were concerned. It went on after the vote, and working-class women were in every campaign.'
Mary Stott reminded me of how much I take for granted and how much of what I take for granted had to be fought for. ‘We had to have a campaign for birth control, a campaign for a minimum wage for women, a campaign to end the marriage bar - so women could continue to work after they were married - a campaign for women police officers, a campaign for equal divorce laws, and custody, and property settlements. The list goes on and on - and it's still going on and on, despite the Sex Discrimination Act,’ she declared heatedly, ‘and sometimes you young women forget that. But it's a tragedy if you think it all started with you, and you don't see yourselves as part of that tradition of women - working-class women among them - who campaigned for the rights you do enjoy today. And those women of the Guild were marvellous campaigners,’ she added.
I had read the collections of letters edited by Margaret Llewelyn Davies so I did know that Maternity published in 1915 and which consisted of letters from Guild women describing their often horrific experiences of maternity had done a great deal to raise public consciousness about the dangers - and the despair - that were part of enforced maternity, and that the book had helped to pave the way for the birth control movement.
‘The birth control movement wasn't easy,’ said Mary Stott, 'it was very much like the abortion movement today - and by the way, the Guild came out very early in favour of women's equal rights in divorce - and there was a great deal of pressure on the women to abandon the campaign. At one stage the Co-operative Wholesale Society, the financial body, the men that handed out all the money to the various bodies, threatened to withdraw the grant it made to the Guild if they didn't stop their campaign for reforming the divorce law. It was a sizeable amount and they probably could not have continued without it, but they wouldn't give up the campaign,' she said.
They wouldn't give up either when it came to birth control; when birth control clinics were started and when coach loads of women were 'imported' to protest, on religious grounds, about birth control as murder, they remained firm. As Mary Stott described the birth control campaign of the thirties I realised that it could just as easily have been a description of the abortion campaign of the eighties. No doubt next century, (if Dora Russell's fears don't come true), women will be fighting yet another battle over reproduction and control over their own bodies. Although with the technological inventions that seem possible - and which are primarily in male hands - future issues might well be very different.

S Lewis, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, or other popular Christian intellectuals. Even G. K. Chesterton may be cited from time to time. As an Adventist, I hear citations by E. G. White frequently.
And yet, many Christians have no understanding of early Christian popular works - No, these works aren't canonical - neither is Stott, Sproul, Wright, Lucado, Graham, Lewis, or White - but these earlier works informed the Christian faith at it's inception.
Works such as - 1 and 2 Clement Shepherd of Hermas Didache Epistle of Barnabas Apocalypse of Peter Third Epistle to the Corinthians
Other highly influential works included - The Book of Enoch The Gospel of Nicodemus Gospel of Mary/Protevangelion of James
All these works influenced the thinking of early Christians. I am not going to claim that I have read even half of these works, however, it seems rather hypocritical to argue that the Didache or Shepherd of Hermas is non-cannonical, and by implication heretical - and yet contemporary exegesis by preferred mainstream scholars, that are completely divorced from these historic underpinnings, are accepted without question.
The Revelation of John barely made the cut to canonicity. And when it was accepted, it was based upon St. Andrew of Caesarea's particular canonical interpretation.
To continue my point, Saints Augustine, Anselm, and Aquinas, are single points, elevated in their ideas to extreme preeminence within the Protestant Western mind to the exclusion of every other Saint, while Saints such as the Cappadocian Fathers, St. Gregory Palamas, and a host of others are completely absent. There has been a continuous line of Christian commentary since the time of the earliest Christians, all forgotten because, "they're non-canonical", or, "they espouse human tradition", as we pour over the latest articles in Christianity Today possessing no greater historicity beyond the latest news cycle.

Dr Hough Gregory Arthur
Registration with the HPCSA is a pre-requisite for skilled follow and additionally it is a authorized requirement to maintain all private details up to date always. A welcome change from the materialistic and fast-paced energies of recent life and relationships, ‘Ticket for Your Love’ is a gentle reminder that love may be effortless. This year noticed a document entry of a hundred and fifty five swimmers participating with an outstanding 47% of the sphere swimming the occasion for their first time whilst Mary-Anne Stott, Stanford Slabbert, Ralph West and Andre Kleynhans swam their 9th consecutive Bellbuoy Challenge. Eight swimmers this year received their 5 yr attendance award which was a smaller version of the distinctive wire and bead Bellbuoy duplicate trophy which is hand crafted by local trader Cosmos Zvichauya.. Makoko T. An investigation into the experiential world of kids awaiting trial at Dyambu Youth Centre. Police are warning these operating as 'skoppers' that it's illegal while also urging stokvel golf equipment to take the mandatory precautions in safeguarding their cash, particularly presently of 12 months. The socio-demographic data used to represent the socio-structural explanations of crime in Tshwane were obtained from the SSA Census for 2001. Firstly, to check the notion that social disorganisation accounts for post-apartheid South Africa's crime developments, I included measures of divorce or separation, head of household and father mortality standing. These measures are meant to reflect family composition or, extra particularly, the diploma of familial construction within communities. It is predicted that an increase within the variety of separations or divorces will signal declining casual social control. Also included is the percentage of female-headed households and the percentage of residents whose father is either dead or estranged. dr greg hough In all situations, the path of the connection between the socio-structural factors and make contact with crime is consistent with expectations. Brown63 found that socio-economic variables were extra significant determinants of crime in South Africa than deterrence variables . However, Brown's examine was restricted when it comes to the time interval and geographical areas that had been thought-about. Because of a number of constraints, her analysis might solely be undertaken for crimes committed in 1994 and measures for certain variables had to be contrived from datasets at a lot coarser aggregation ranges. In addition, Brown used simple Pearson pairwise correlation between the crime rate and the predictor variables to have the ability to acquire her results. A frequent rationalization for these excessive crime rates relates the nation's distinctive socio-political previous to a system of ineffective social control mechanisms that recommend excessive ranges of social disorganisation within sure communities. Other explanations emphasise the presence of disaffected youths and deprivation, in addition to the rapid immigration of people from neighbouring African countries into South Africa. I examined numerous these socio-structural explanations of crime on contact crime charges in the metropolis of Tshwane, South Africa. The findings are largely according to the social disorganisation theory, as properly as with what has beforehand been suggested in native literature. The last clarification attracts closely on Hirshi’s24 influential social control principle which posits that strong social bonds to family, school and friends deter individuals from committing crime. The first mannequin presents the results from analysis estimating the impact of the identified socio-structural explanations of crime on contact crime rates throughout the whole of Tshwane. In order to gauge any attainable interplay between the racial composition of suburbs and the socio-structural explanations of contact crime rates in the metropolis, three further regression fashions have been run separately for these suburbs categorised as being occupied by predominantly Black folks, White people or each ('Mixed'). Dr Pienaar, Gregory Edward, is a healthcare practitioner, specialising as a Psychologist - Educational, in Boksburg, Gauteng, South Africa. These guidelines require a staff approach to the selection of appropriate surgical candidates, pre-operative preparation, peri-operative care and life-long post-operative follow-up to ensure on-going good well being. The surgeon, endocrinologist, and other staff members as nicely as the hospital are absolutely accredited and are registered with the CEMMS to carry out this procedure. Gastric bypass surgical procedure stops the traditional signaling from the abdomen to the urge for food centre in the mind, thereby effectively decreasing meals cravings. The small pouch at the high of the stomach, created in the course of the bariatric surgical procedure, quickly fills and stretches, which prompts alerts to the mind to powerfully swap off urge for food and forestall over-eating. The effects of two of the three social disorganisation measures of contact crime for the overall model are supported, with both the parameters share divorced or separated and share father deceased or estranged, being statistically important. Thus, according to the social disorganisation theory, suburbs with higher familial instability are inclined to have larger contact crime charges. Other statistically significant effects have been discovered for the younger male inhabitants and for the measure of African immigration. In this study, I think about the social organisation of families as a measure of social disorganisation. Firstly, family and group ties related to household structure and composition have been typically strained underneath apartheid. Secondly, the household displays the primary socialisation and supervision establishment in the lives of people. Lastly, household and neighborhood ties have an result on the ability of the family to collectively establish informal social management. The last clarification attracts closely on Hirshi's24 influential social management concept which posits that strong social bonds to family, faculty and friends deter individuals from committing crime. The concept of casual social control on the particular person degree is, nonetheless, most often operationalised to social disorganisation perspectives on the macro-level. Suburbs had been categorised as Black if more than 80% of the residents have been Black, as White if greater than 80% of the residents have been White and as 'Mixed' if there were neither an 80% Black nor an 80% White majority within the suburb. While the identification of crime determinants in racially stratified suburbs within Tshwane was not a central goal of this paper, I felt that this information would supplement the principle findings of the examine by offering additional perception into the influence that completely different socio-structural components have on crime rates throughout racially numerous suburbs. In order to gauge any potential interplay between the racial composition of suburbs and the socio-structural explanations of contact crime rates in the metropolis, three additional regression fashions have been run separately for these suburbs categorised as being occupied by predominantly Black people, White individuals or each (‘Mixed’). Suburbs had been categorised as Black if greater than 80% of the residents have been Black, as White if more than 80% of the residents had been White and as ‘Mixed’ if there have been neither an 80% Black nor an 80% White majority throughout the suburb.
