My partner introduced me to MapleStory a few months ago, and the first character I decided to play was Lara. I fell in love with her relationship with Gri, cause Grumpy x Sunshine is one of my favorite pairings. Anyway I drew art of them enjoy!

the incel problem in the kr game industry has been there for years, but it really seems like projmoon started a chain reaction to the recent things going down. the company in the spotlight currently is nexon, involving maplestory n blue archive among other games. and nexon doesn't have the "indie company" excuse

dudes are currently complaining any time they see anything resembling a 🤏 pinching hand gesture. an artist from an animation studio working with nexon (studio ppuri) has been fired. art is being edited or taken down because of incels combing through literal seconds of clips to catch things that look like 🤏 . studio ppuri is under investigation; associations and unions have been holding conferences and protests against nexon

blue archive is also.... currently under a lotta heat online for other reasons including this...

+ these guys brought up the gesture when they harassed the limbus cg artist too but it didn't cross my mind at the time

a korean radfem group, megalia, did use the pinching gesture as a symbol in the past, but they're defunct. and obviously assuming all feminists are like that or that anyone who does/draws the pinching movement is one of them is still ridiculous. so is claiming any instance of it is hate speech like nexon is doing

a couple days after i initially wrote this post it came to light that the artist who was fired wasn't even responsible for that part of the storyboard. she was scrapegoated. nexon has also been coddling the incels and harming women employees by doing things like giving out the social medias of said employees to fans of dungeon & fighter (what the hell)

Im having thoughts abt Worldbuilding and all the time i fall in love more and more abt it—

Crafting a world that feels alive is so hard but so charming and rewarding at the same time

As a fan of Tolkien, Star Wars, Zelda and DND in general i feel like if im writing a story i want to reward my readers with a world they can toy with. With a world they can seek more info and actually find it. A world they can create a character, maybe even a whole narrative, using the world's rules and details and information. Cuz it makes it feel more alive when the audience sed that world and see the possibilities right?

Thats a reason MMORPGs are so appealing to me. Genshin and Sky COTL are the biggest examples for me, cuz you can live in that world as a character and explore it as you wish! World of Warcraft is a big example too, but i can point out others like Maplestory and Trove!

Baldur's Gate, Elden Ring, BOTW & TOTK, Red Dead II, Rain World, etc, really shows a big example of a good and alive worldbuilding without it being a mmorpg, you LIVE in that world

RPG games work that well when well made! Hell, Undertale and Final Fantasy always intice the imaginary! Sandboxy games as well, the better the worldbuilding the more you crave to explore it! (Good job Minecraft)

I can even bring examples from anime! Frieren, One Piece, Witch Hat Atelier, Boku No Hero, Ghibli movies etc! It invites you in, it wants your attention and with a rich worldbuilding, simple or complex, you want to be part of it and create things!

And thats a reason that when i craft a world, i want to give it the most details i can. How is the flora & fauna of the world, politics, the environment, religion, the magic system, different people and cultures, the different species, the forces of good, evil and neutral, architecture, languages, the art!

Cuz i want people to toy with it, do their own thing inside of it! I want to look at the community and see personas and ocs and self inserts! I want to see aus and lore expansions! Especially original narratives!

If i ever make a game, it might be a MMO im not sorry im saying that. Or just a vast action-RPG! Who knows—

I cant wait to create worlds and make people fall in love with it— i cant wait

Notebook #15! The binding on this is absolutely trash, and nearly all the pages are falling out. Still, it holds ink very well. Scans of select doodles/journal entries below.

A brief summary of my trip to Oakland and San Francisco for a Halloween bar crawl. It was not a very long bar crawl, but I did feel like crawling at the end of it.

Left: I'm a huge AJR fan! Every album release I start crying. Lyrics are, "I wish I was me, whoever that is / I could just be, and not give a shit / Hey I'll be whatever, makes you a fan / 'Cause I don't know who the hell I am / ONE! TWO! PANDEMONIUM!"

Right: Maplestory had a Hyper Tera Burning Event or something like that. I started playing in the middle of my first semester in grad school. No one was happy about this.

Left: Observations from when I visited the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Arts, and some Bruce & Yoichi doodles.

Right: Me being so so so normal about treating Prime Torino as a dress-up doll. He'd look so good in long skirts. I know this in my heart.

Left: There was a month when I really got into Sandman! Not the Netflix show, though the fanfic certainly bases all the dreamling fic off that... I thought the early comic version of Dream was hilariously pathetic and weird. Huge pity that the hair and robes don't translate to real life.

Right: Stardew Valley came out with the update, and I fell right back into my habit of marathoning SDV into the wee hours of night. That's Lark. He's an older Farmer who's surprisingly hardy for having been an IT guy for a decade and some change.

Left: The first rough draft for All for One's "Abbey" PMV. As you can probably tell, camera shots are not my strong suit, and the sequence went a little off the rails at the end.

Right: I don't know what to tell you guys. I dipped my toe in the FFXV AO3 archive and then I found The Promdyn (TYL!Prompto x Redeemed!Ardyn) fic of all time, and now they haunt me. Everyone else is posting "Bad Touch Chancellor Izunia" and I'm here contemplating Ardyn's whimpers.mp4.

Were you named after anyone?

no, i technically named myself! i had troubles learning languages when growing up, and whenever speech therapists tried to teach me to say my birth/legal name, i kept on saying "mimi" instead, so the nickname stuck! aside from that, my other nickname kao is taken from a maplestory npc of the same name,, a character who's supposed to be the "future version" of your player character, so things keep going full circle

When was the last time you cried?

a few nights ago;; i was rewatching some satoshi kon films, millennium actress and tokyo godfathers definitely got to me esp since i'm a sap in the first place, his filmography does not hold punches when it comes to hitting emotions

Do you have kids?

i have endless neglected OCs, other closest option is the local murder of crows i befriended ghghkdj, there's some new fledglings i've seen fly after me along w the adults (you can tell bc young crows have the insides of their beaks be pink!); aside from that, i think this stray black cat that visits me a lot could count, but he could be an old man and not count, idk how old he is

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

i do like dry and/or deadpan humor (esp in the "jokingly points out the obvious" way), so sarcasm's def a thing i like to sometimes hear and say! regardless, it's still p lowkey and modest, i don't want to be overly dramatic or annoying w sarcasm

What's the first thing you notice about people?

for both online and in-person, usually how they present themselves, like visuals (clothes, icon, art style, etc) and how they talk and interact!

brown 👁️👁️ they're super dark they're nearly black too

Scary movies or happy endings?

BOTH,, TECHNICALLY,,,,,, i'm a fan of both "horror" and "kind" stories esp for elements of both something something harrowing ordeals of existence, the struggles, etc but still earning better outcomes and surviving esp w loved ones, and one time i got compared to (Both) miyazaki and ito in this meme 😭

i don't know, maybe crocheting and plush sewing...? or befriending animals esp those w "bad luck" stigma like crows or black cats

storyboard artist!! especially w good union networking and experience to collaborate w other cool peers and have financial stability, health insurance, retirement savings, etc; aside from that, i'd consider also posting youtube videos esp for talking about or creating more art, but i don't want to have that be my main source of income bc of how stressful that can be esp in a practical financial sense, not to mention i don't have nor want to have the,, self-aggrandizing Performative Act ghdfjkg
