i love your enthusiasm for prodigy and yes I agree it's awesome!!!!!

i love it so so so so much

it gave me just about everything that i've been missing across new trek and new shows in general and you just gave me an excuse to talk about it

a lot of it goes back to the fact that the first season is 20. fucking. episodes. when was the last time you got a show from western countries with 20 episodes in the last hm. 10 years?

and i honestly believe that that fixed sooo much

character development that didn't feel rushed? got it

found family that was *shown* instead of told? got it

time to explore new and old characters? got it

holodeck adventures? got it

background to new characters? got it

of course i'm biased, i absolutely adore Janeway, which is different to e.g. Picard, who I like, and maybe ST: Picard would have hit differently if he had been my captain (tm)

but then again, i feel like Janeway was there to draw old fans in, and they certainly caught me, but it's not entirely *her* story. Her story is in there, it's important, but each and every story of each and every new character is also important.

they don't have to cram cameos in there. they don't have to connect every single detail to anything that happened before, but there are ties and that is OKAY.

basically what i'm trying to say, they manage to honor the legacy of trek while also expanding on the universe.

somehow i feel like star trek should just go ahead with the animated series, idk they really got something there with prodigy and lower decks

#on that note: i'm so fucking scared of season 2 of prodigy bc i'm afraid they'll ruin everything i just gushed about #in that they make it all about janeway and chakotay instead of the new young crew #AND I LOVE JANEWAY AND CHAKOTAY OKAY BUT I'M SAYING THIS AS A FAN OF TREK IN GENERAL #and as a fan of new characters new adventures new storylines #ANYWAYS yeah i'm so glad i finally watched prodigy #it's probably my favorite new trek at the moment #asks #maliciousalice #star trek prodigy

this is such a farscape agenda thing of me to say but im pretty sure at LEAST david kemper worked on some TNG episodes and id love to just pick his brain because he always writes such great ideas im ENVIOUS of like howd you come up with these things my brother in christ. id say kate mulgrew but like i lived out my meeting ur idol fantasy with gillian anderson and i dont have that dawg in me no more. but she would be fun to meet i just can’t imagine me taking it seriously im such a freak lmao. idk if it counts but id LOVE to meet christie golden and kirsten beyer im soooooo curious as to what their vibe is with each other. its probably amicable but im so curious. its not the kind of thing i think you can research very easily on the interwebs lol. like it would never happen I WOULD NEVER ASK but what was it like collabing/taking over each others stories and killing off each other’s characters or erasing each other’s works with stuff like character memory wipes lololol. maybe it was all higher ups but im SO CURIOUS if they have beef lol.

i wanna say the easy answer to this is janeway just so i can scold her on her plant caretaking regime lol or,,,,,, if you wanna say she’s simply built different at taking care of stuff like bonsais in space,,, ask her for her plant hacks,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but i actually think if i was on voyager id be more inclined to befriend the maquis crew members lol,,, doomed narrative me thinks id end up befriending someone like Seska lmao 🫶 i would want to be her friend shes problematic. i would hope that i could be the friend she would confide in and tell me she was going to join the kazon and steal some of chakotays juice to impregnate herself like thats how close we’d be as friends and then id be like wow girl thats crazy hahaha slay and then shed do it and id be like so proud of her for commiting to her spiral. this isnt exactly in line with what the question is asking but i feel too background character extra core to imagine myself being friends with any of these really smart successful people 😂 maybe barclay and then i would bully him. if i had my way i would befriend Surpiria i can fix her.

Hmm i just want to say your animation ability is really gorgeous and admirable. I struggle to animate at the best of times--too bogged down with the technical. It's so nice to see such fluidity and confidence in your work. Is it something you just developed on your own and have you always been interested in animation? I’ve always been interested in animation ever since I can remember, I made lots of flip notes with the dsi flipnote studio when I was a kid hehe and eventually got photoshop and now I use procreate. I pretty much developed through trial and error, just lots of random attempts over the years but I’ve gradually improved, but I should try using actual tutorials and learning properly (you’d think I’d have done that studying animation at university but it wasn’t a technical course which was a bit surprising!)

Ah Jellybeans my beloved!!! I always adore how much you investigate my work. It's gives me the warm and fuzzies! The little kid with the gaped-teeth is the (at times neglected) one and only Edward! Tried to give him a little bit more detail. It's not quite there yet however but I thought I'd drop the sketch into this group of things. Edward's style is becoming a little unconventional, he enjoys observing trends and making his own groove. He is starting to challenge the idea of a hair cut. While he isn't the fiercest of the bunch the little dude is beginning to present his non-federation compliant persuasions, he finds the uniformity particularly gross. Instead, he prefers the care-free attitudes of his 'Papa'. Edward would keep a rotation of mundane objects that he deems are spiritually significant to him, including small toys, pieces of hull, utensils he's picked up from the mess-hall, etc. He'd carry them on his person until another interesting piece comes along. His goal is to find his own medicine bundle but he can't quite assess what is required. As for bugs, I'm sure he would stash some. He understands their value, and would present them as offerings to other crew members, and in-spite of lack of actual interest from them, he'd find a way to charm them into trading him for things he'd like. Failing to do that, they always come in handy if he's peckish or interested in examining his food. --- That IS grown up Liam and thank youuuu. I've only drawn him once but I was going for him favouring his Dad's upper half. Baylardo and I have discussed that he is more of a grounded character, he is well-liked in his adult years, though keeps mostly to himself when he can. He is heavily involved with horticulture and agriculture, this is due to Kathryn's progressive appreciation of gardening in her later years, during which sparked a keen interest in him and something he has honed over his life. His skills are reputable and sought after throughout space as he has an acute understanding of modern and historical techniques. I plopped him in a pair of heavy overalls, fitted with tools of both up to date, and old-fashioned design. He doesn't work for starfleet, however they do commission his skills every so often. I'd love to draw him more but it's straying really far from a canon time-line, however I do adore how much interest there has been in Liam (as well as the rest of the Threshold AU haha)

Okay quick rundown...So the 'Loss' scribble is referring to a (now) dead meme. During a drawing session Baylardo scribbled Janeway running to see that the warpcore had been ejected, she formated like the original Loss comic of all things. (oof!) Without a beat my real reaction to it was 'is this loss?', the exact thing thing people would say when noticing that the original comic had been appropriated-it's so ingrained. And so, I scribbled down a Janeway, with Chuckles, as if SHE were reacting to the comic. Silly, I know.

--- The Emh comic/set was drawn during a discussion about Janeway returning to see him during the Beyer books. I haven't read them all but I know that they meet at some point. Baylardo and I like to think about how AU Janeway would seek him out at some point to get a solid confirmation of her status and discuss her options. Without spoiling the books, he is thrilled to not only see her in person again, but also that she would be after his council. I scribbled a bit more to it but unfortunately lost the file, it's unlikely I'll do more at this point. :( Heheh thanks for reaching out friend! I'm sooooo glad you liked my sketchdump.
