Locator has practically just began to tuck her poor excuse of scabby little wings under her sweater. She was disappointment with them, mad at them, furious with them and herself for how they've turned out. She doesn't even know if they're done growing in, or if they will always be these stubby little things when her creators promised her so much better..

Locator is eating fistfuls of dry cereal out of the box on the kitchen floor.

public libraries in the usa offering free digital library cards to people not in their areas (as of october 2023):

brooklyn (13-21yo us residents)

seattle (13-26yo us residents)

boston (13-26yo us residents, EDIT: just commonly banned books)

los angeles (13-18yo california residents)

san diego (12-26yo us residents, not the whole collection just commonly banned books)

these books unbanned cards (unless otherwise stated) get you access to each library's complete libby/cloud library collection, no hoopla/kanopy/physical copies included.

ebook collections are expensive to maintain (many american libraries have annual fees for non-residents because of this) but because of an uptick in book banning (particularly brutal in mississippi last summer) larger libraries have opened their doors more, which is very kind of them!

i've used my seattle card for the last several months and their libby collection has about three times the books that my local library does, which is wonderful for accessing more niche titles or skipping a waiting list. would love to hear of similar ebook initiatives internationally!

i use library extension (firefox/chrome/edge compatible) to check all my collections (+ the internet archive) at once, works for several different countries highly recommend it.

spotify seems to be offering 15hrs/month of audiobook listening to premium subscribers and while that does seem useful if you're already paying and are after a new release with a long library waitlist, libraries are better for everything else.

The more time that she was given to isolate herself the more locator had stewed in her own hot bitterness. Her eyes were red and puffy, strained by the tears that won't stop falling despite this being usual distaste for the world around her.

The new gowns that her watcher has given her were scritchy in comparison to her old ones. The fabric had been a much softer blend of cotton instead of the plasticy feeling of this rough polyester- But the smell had been light with a dull citrus, recently washed. She had to way her options; a bloodstained, body odor and sweat drenched robe would be less appealing to the viewing eyes than the uncomfortable one. So she bitterly wore it, not like she had a choice.

One day she hopes that she will maybe get her own choice of clothes to wear. If she keeps her head straight and her shoulders squared, and survives longer than the other test proxies- why, her investor would get her all the nice clothing she would want. Something soft, and not that boring pale hospital blue. Maybe her rations would get better too? If she even got to the last ones picked, surely there would be a reward waiting for her at the end of the tests.

She just had to hold headstrong.

Locator's cell was much more comfortable now, but its still a cell. Its still a cell. The young fledgling had realized that as long as she can't spread her wings, whether theyre clipped or not, it was still a cell. Yes, her food options are better, yes, shes no longer stuck in some scratchy hospital gown... But she still finds herself selfishly wanting more again. More that she could have gotten if she was chosen. Chosen instead of that golden brat.

She balled her fists against her arms, nails digging into the skin just enough so that the pain could keep her clarity. That bastard of a program had the same code as her, but BROKEN, And shes living the fucking life... she saw it. Such a big family of "investors" for her future. She even had the frivolity to throw away her beautiful hand picked name for some bullshit like "Seven".

She found herself biting the inside of her mouth, letting the ichor fill her taste.

She would of loved a pretty little name like "Cheryl"... She would of loved to be named.

Hey, PSA:

Then go back to Other Privacy Settings> Google location history> Turn off Location History &/or Turn-on Auto-Delete (you can set a time period of how long to keep it)

Then, staying on Other Privacy Settings, go to '+ See all activity controls'> Web & App activity> Turn off (you can also turn-on Auto-Delete for here too)

Then Scroll down to Personalized ads> My Ad Center> Turn Off Personalized Ads.

Google has no business knowing/storing everything you do online, and knowing/storing where you go everyday. Turn it off.

These instructions are for an Android phone, IOS might be different. If you have IOS or another operating system feel free to add on with your own map to where they've buried these settings in your phone to help others.
