Nearly at the end of bayonetta and honestly whoever green lit that missile/Jeanne final fight chapter -

#Like I'd seen all the boss fights and the general plot overview and the lore and of course the hitless stuff #That did not prepare me for the 1:30 hour SLOG without a save point that was that chapter ToT #Like I'd just come from the barge angel boss fight man give me a break 😭 #And I had to fight that stupid spinning four fingers guy again. HATE HIM. HATE HATE HATE. #And I died sooooo many times to Jeanne too which fair enough!!! #But I was so wired and tired even before we got to the fight because of the STUPID long missile sequence!! #Literally half that time would have got the message across. Why did it need to last that long?????? Ten minutes straight?? #Never mind how many times I died there at had to restart the whole thing :') #If I quit at Jeanne I'd have to do that again. No thank you!!!!!!! #Literally had to pause the game put the controller down and lie down mid fight I was sick of it #My fingers were genuinely sore q-q #There's a very small sweet spot where the slog repays in triumph and relief and then past that you're just glad it's over #That chapter passed that point somewhere back in the first missile phase FOR REAL #And to make things worse I'd used up all my healing items in the missile phase so I had to do the ENTIRETY of Jeanne ITEMLESS #It would have gone better if I'd ever been able to really practice my combos. I wish you could go into that loading area at will #The technique try zone doesn't count because it doesn't have that list along the side and the book you have to memorise and hope you know #When you do it right #Lmao the game loads too fast now!! #Anyway that was absolutely awful. You can really tell that game came out so long ago it would not have flown now #In fact I can't think of many games that still use stuff like save points it's all just save in settings and autosave areas #Definitely one progression for the better XD #Outside of awful chapter lengths I'm having a FANTASTIC time I'm definitely going to replay many other chapters #bayonetta #Bayonetta chapter

i'm really enjoying pathologic 2, actually. i mean, i didn't think i wouldn't enjoy it as much as i was worried it would just, i don't know, muddy the water. and maybe it will, but i'm not really bothered by that anymore. that said, i do think patho 2 took a fairly unsubtle game and increased its unsubtlety by about tenfold.

well. calling og pathologic 'unsubtle' doesn't feel quite right, but i'm not sure what word would feel right. maybe it's 'distinct in its sensibilities'. I think og patho felt more obtuse, whereas patho 2 is like. here. take it. do you get it. here is the information. do you see the themes. i am announcing them to you in such a way that you know that i am saying something thematic. i'm not far enough into the main story of 2 to be able to say that there's less reading between the lines, but it feels very much so far like there's less reading between the lines. whereas the original had a somewhat different... i don't know, affect? it felt like a hostile workplace where everyone recited shakespeare about even the mundane. in patho 2 nothing feels mundane in the first place, everything feels loaded in a way that og patho was but didn't feel, if that makes sense.

but i think that's okay. at the very least, it feels very much like leaning into the 'theater' aspect of it, which is enjoyable. pathologic 2 feels to me more like... bonus content? not to be Stuck Up For Pathologic HD but i enjoyed the feeling of grinding my face against a cinderblock, having to tease out information and conclusions. it felt like a game that you had to figure out, but you actually weren't really doing any ground-level figuring out of much; you're not a doctor, your character is, so the puzzle of Solving the Plague belongs to The Story, whereas the question of What the FUCK is This Town's Deal is your job. it's a very linear game in most respects, but all three playthroughs come through as a thematic package deal.

i so far get the impression that pathologic 2 can be played on its own and be enjoyed in its own right! however it exists to me as like. director's commentary. i'm really liking the playing with different character relationships and alternate things, the expanding of steppe language and the kin, love my worm guys, but i like it because of how it enriches my eternal mind rotation of og pathologic. sorry guys i played the original pathologic and it broke me and remade me in its image. sorry.

#sorry to be the quintessential 'guy who played pathologic and now doesn't stop thinking about pathologic' #i'm having a lot of fun trying all of the different things in marble nest though #i do worry in general that the inclusion of sprinting and fast travel will really fuck up my flow #the walking feels SO much slower now so while i was content to plod along in the original i feel like there's not a middle ground #so it feels a bit contrary to it all that i'm sprinting everywhere and just chugging bottles of water and calling it good #though at the very least it does seem like it will take some of the weight off of the 'route planning' aspect of the original #which was. honestly a load bearing part of... gestures vaguely #and i understand why people don't like it! i think that's a very reasonable thing to not like #having a game on a time limit that requires you to walk slowly across the map multiple times #i don't know what brainworms it activated in me but i quite enjoy it #on paper i should not like this game but here we are #that's not true. i play a lot of Bad To Play games for the story. #but 'guy who has no sense of time' playing 'time limit: the game' is... well i'm not arguing at the results #so that's my main Thing that i 'dislike' but even that word is too strong #i don't dislike it as much as i am keenly aware that i will have to play the game differently and i Don't Like Change lmao #that said these are preliminary impressions as i'm only about 4-5ish hours into the main game #pathologic

Thoughts about Hades 2 as a tech test player

Everything is under a read more bc. 1. Long post. 2. Spoilers for Hades 2.

1. The game is fucking s m o o t h. Loads quicker and everything feels more stream lined.

2. It’s somewhat harder than Hades 1. Idk if it’s bc of not having a super buffed character but I am definitely finding it a little more challenging. Not a bad thing though!

3. Melinoë plays a little different from Zag which is to be expected! We now have a sprint, spells, and new weapons. Already loving how regular casts and specials don’t have a cast limit. Also love the twin blades. Fast weapon go brrrrrrr.

4. I’m definitely interested in seeing what they do with gathering, farming, ect. Great way to add more stuff to do in and after runs.

5. This ties into 4 but, I love how there’s a bunch of stuff to do in Crossroads! In Hades 1, I never spent too much time in the house. I was always dashing through to do another run when not stopping to talk to people. The Crossroads is definitely a nice cool down area for after runs!

6. THE ART. Man everyone looks so good!!!! I can tell some of the sprites are still being worked on but everything still looks so damn clean. I love how everyone has backgrounds in their portraits!

7. APOLLO, HEPHAESTUS, HESTIA, SELENE. All of them look and sound so cool. Really looking forward to seeing their full boon lists and how they play with different weapons ect.

8. I’m really happy to see some of the OG gods returning. All of them look so sick and every time I see a boon from the first game I go “YOOOOOO”. Also Artemis physically appearing is sick as hell.

9. Really excited to get to know the new crew better! They’re all really compelling already!

10. The areas seem to be shorter. Like, I’m going through less rooms to hit the boss room. Idk if it’s bc it’s a tech test or if it’s intentional.

Speculation and questions

1. WHAT DID CHRONOS DO. ARE THEY DEAD? WHERE ARE THEY? Istg if Zag is dead I am going to c r y.

2. WHERE IS THAN, MEG, ACHILLES, NYX, EVERYONE FROM THE FIRST GAME? WHERE ARE THEY?

3. Hecate said something about Hermes trying to find a way to get from the underworld to Olympus. There was also some stairs going blocked by a ward in the weapon/training room. I wonder if there’s gonna be more areas to go through. Like. Erebus, Elysium, Asphodel, Tartarus, House, then Olympus? Maybe Olympus is gonna have its own areas completely. This would make sense for why the areas are shorter. Really interested to see what they do.

4. If the game looks like this already in its tech test stage….. this might be my game of the year if it gets a full release this year. (I love you P3RE but holy shit Hades 2).

Me and Bill were playing super mario on the tv, clicking at our consoles trying to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Then suddenly I felt a strong wind coming from the TV, I looked over at Bill and saw him being sucked into the TV, I gasped as I began to be dragged into the TV too.

We woke up, rubbing our heads and looking around. I yelped as I saw Bill in a mario costume, looking down at myself and realizing I had Princess Peaches outfit on, her beautiful bright pink dress with her white silky gloves.

"What the actual fuck is going on right now" I looked up at Bill in a panic "i knew we shouldn't of gotten that stupid console, the guy was so sketchy" he groaned, rubbing his temples in frustration.

I heard a loud melody play and looked up, in the sky the words 'Ready 3, 2, 1 go!" play, I looked at Bill confused "what do we do?" he shrugged, looking around for answers.

Then suddenly the sky went black, dark clouds forming everything and lightning bolting into the floor. "Holy shit!" I clung onto Bill, my whole body trembling in fear. "Are we gonna play the game but..as ourselves, does that mean you're gonna get kidnapped?" Bill eyes widened as a huge hand came closer to us and snatched me away, I gasped "Bill!" I screamed, reaching out for him.

Bills POV: I watched as Y/N got taken by a big yellow hand, I looked up and it was bowser, he was massive. "Y/N!" I screamed back, panicking. I knew I had to finish the game to get her back, who knows what would happen if I lost?

I started to do all the obsticles, jumping on the mushrooms and getting coins. Fighting all the bad guys and nearly dying a million times.

I finally got to the last boss, Bowser, I winced as I saw Y/N locked in a cage, high up in the sky. "3 2 1 GO!" the game said, showing a health level on bowser. Nearby, I saw a little candy gun and I picked it up, shooting it at him repeatedly. His health didn't go down by much and I cursed under my breath "fuck..how will this big motherfucker die" I grabbed a sword and just decided to go all in, battling with Bowser. His health became significantly low and I continued to slash at him.

He then took a big swing at me, hitting me and sending me flying nearly off the edge. My heart was beating so fast as I slowly got up, running towards him and battling with him again. My adrenaline was so high, I felt unreal, invincible almost.

I finally got the last blow, defeating bowser. His large body fell to the floor and a big green text popped up in the sky "success!" it read. I sighed in relief, Y/N's cage lowering, a key landed in my hands and I unlocked the huge padlock and removed all the chains surrounding it.

Y/N leapt into my arms and we got teleported to a loading screen. Y/NS pov: "That was terrifying Bill, I thought I was going to fall out of the cage it was so high and so rusty of my god" I nuzzled my head into his chest, his arms wrapping around me.

I woke up suddenly, realising it was all a dream and none of that happened. I sighed in relief to see Bill next to me, sleeping peacefully. I smiled and kissed him softly, wrapping his arms around me and falling back asleep. E/N: THIS WAS SO FUN TO MAKE OMG

First Line Game

I was just thinking that I haven't seen one of these floating about in a while, so decided to start one. These are the general rules but I think people should play fast and loose with this - take part however you want and please tag me, as the last time we did this as a fandom, I found loads of brilliant fics to read and was reminded of many more I had already read! Here are mine: all Drarry except one Dron.

List the first lines of your last 10 stories (if you have fewer than 10, just list them all!). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening line. Then tag 10 people!

Howl (M, 9k, werewolf Drarry): Draco woke up on a Friday morning in a field hospital in Grasmere, without a single memory of how he had got there.

Take the Moon (M, 15k, dad Draco, stepdad Harry, also werewolf Harry lmao): “I’ll do it, of course I’ll fucking do it,” Draco was saying, which didn’t make any sense, because he was supposed to be at work; maybe Harry was hallucinating him.

The Edge of Something (M, 1.5k, ghost sex which was basically the very reason i wrote the fic): “Well, the good news is that I’m not dead,” Malfoy said, the voice so very much his that it brought Harry out of bed and to his knees.

Far Side (M, 1k, werewolf Harry yet again and also good dad Draco yet again, what can i say i'm in a loop): Harry has a photo on his desk; he says it’s his favourite.

Snow on Snow (T, 1.1k, fake dating turned into safe house shenanigans): On the first night in the safe house, Harry was woken every hour by church bells.

Dreaming Skies (Dron, E, 20k, dragon tamer Ron and Draco who has nowhere else to go): Everything tasted better after working so hard all day that your palms bled.

Countdown to a Life (E, 3.5k, little moments in the first year of their relationship): Night-time, all the lights of London laid out in front of them from the balcony of Dean Thomas’s mum’s flat, the week before Christmas.

A Little Death Never Hurt Anyone (E, 4.2k, Master of Death Harry who is going through the Veil to try to raise the dead to help him defeat Voldemort): Draco was the only one awake when Harry got back.

Relic Radiation (M, 1k, Draco goes into space): “At least he waited until now. For Scorp's sake, I mean.”

Mortal Frame (M, 6.6k, Bellatrix left a Horcrux and Draco and Harry must track it down): The pub is called the Red Lion, and Harry thinks Draco might have chosen it on purpose, just for the name.

Hmm, I will admit that I don't think any of these are absolute bangers if I'm honest. Howl was supposed to start with "Something was burning" which I loved, but I had to switch things around so that's now further on in the fic. That said, I think my writing is better now than it used to be, even if the first lines don't necessarily reflect that. I have no patterns, clearly, though I was surprised to see myself starting with dialogue in quite a few of those, as I don't usually think of myself as a good dialogue writer.

My favourite of these is probably Countdown - I'm weak for a long run-on stream-of-consciousness sentence. Or maybe Edge as that would make me as a reader want to know what is happening (why might Draco have been dead??), or Snow because that gives a nice bit of set-up without feeling too heavy.

I did also cheat as the line from Dreaming Skies isn't the first line of the fic, it's the first line of the bit I wrote - @sweet-s0rr0w no doubt did start with a banger but it didn't feel right to nab that as my own.

I'm beginning to think that Jungkook isn't running that In the Seom account anymore. At first I was like aw he's having fun, and woah he accepted a jikook shipper- that's sus, etc. I was just happy that he tried out the gamr. But now I'm wondering if maybe he was asked to post that account on his story by the company as a marketing strategy? Because it's definitely working like one. More people tried out the game, more people are sticking with the game because they feel like they're interacting and competing with JK. Idk but as more time goes on I can't help but feel that maybe this whole account is just run by some Hybe employee? I just severely doubt he's that bored + has that much time on his hands to keep leveling up every few hours. I know they're technically on break but he's still not jobless lol. Maybe I'm overthinking it? I've only seen one other person bring this up so I'm curious to see what other people think.

🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨 I - why would he lie?! That's his Instagram! Lol and all these ways he wants to 1) play games and 2) interact in a special way with ARMY is soooo on brand for him. Those are 2 of his favorite ways to spend his free time. Lol and let's remember that they have more control over what their schedule is looking like these days and how much free time they might have. On top of that, JK has always had a weird and not so great sleep schedule. Meaning he doesn't get enough of it. Lol

He LOVES gaming and has shared on multiple occasions how he spends his free time gaming and how he can do it for hours and how he can get really competitive about it and not want to stop until he beats it or is insanely good at it. He used to post clips of him playing overwatch. They've shared that he used to game often at the dorms with Tae or with Jin. Tae shared a story once from an old clip where you could hear him playing League with JK, Yoongi, Jin and Hobi (those being the members who spoke into the mic at least). Staying up all night to play a game, not off brand for him. Especially also considering all the armys who are busy IRL and have full time jobs who are over level 100 in the game too. PLUS considering that JK has lots of disposable income to spare to get extra hearts, blue diamonds things and anything extra he can buy to help him level up faster and spend less time waiting for things to load etc. That's gonna speed up his game time too. Examples of JK talking about gaming:

AND I don't think having army visit his island or join a club is just a marketing strategy. It's just legit JK loving spending time with ARMY. It's super on brand for him to carve out time to spend with fans. He spent hours doing Instagram Q&As in the middle of the night, not just during quarantine, but also after a performance when they still had schedules the next day too. He spent HOURS in the middle of the night on vlives with army and singing to us, on days he has to wake up for work the next day too. He spent HOURS talking until the middle of the night, just to then go and hop on a bus to go film ITS. He used to join fancafe group chats with ARMYS. In 2018 he held weekly fancafe dates with army every single Friday for a long time. Where he would create a group chat and the first X amount of people who could guess what the password was could join his GC and he would sit in there and chat with the armys for 15 to 30 minutes every single week. And in 2018 they were so booked snd busy it was insane. But he still made time to hang out with army AND still made time to work on GCFs and his own music AND go work out AND some off time gaming. And whatever else he wanted. And he did this fancafe date thing without telling the company his plans to do it at all. Lmao it was all him. Some Fancafe posts about his Friday ARMY dates:

You don't have to be jobless to spend a few hours playing a mobile game before you go to bed, or while you are eating your meals, or while being driven somewhere. He really honestly isn't leveling up that fast compared to a lot of other people I've seen to make it seem like he isn't doing ANYTHING but gaming. Lol

So I guess, I DO think it's JK. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be. And I don't think it's out of character at all for him to be doing this either. And I don't think Hybe has to worry too much about marketing it. The game was doing just fine before JK shared anything on his story about his island and his club. But you are all free to think whatever you want 😅 this is my opinion though 🤷🏻‍♀️💜

speaking of animalisms! i like the idea that roxy has a game called "hide and sniff", where whoever's playing gives roxy a scent sample, and then they have to hide elsewhere in the plex so roxy can sniff them out. it can be played with kids and animatronics alike, roxy loves it, and it's lowkey a training things for her because she can locate lost folks by their scent, or detect other problems like health concerns or smoke and stuff

They could blindfold her so she has to rely entirely on her nose too and you know what? This is probably the only version of hide and seek she's allowed to play lmao

She can see through walls, can track via smell and has probably the second or third best hearing in the Plex. She's been banned from hide and seek games since the very beginning so this is could be the new version they came up with to keep her included. Every time she's the seeker, it's now a game of hide and sniff and when it's just between the animatronics, she knows their scents well enough that she doesn't need a sample or anything and you know what? I bet the others would come up with some wild ways to mask their scent from her lmao

And the practical uses are great! Lost a child? Roxy can find them! A child lost their favourite toy? Roxy can probably find it! There's a fire? Roxy's a walking fire detector! (And probably the cause but shhh) She's an expert at all of this stuff! And you know, I bet that's really helpful in detecting leaks on the go-kart fuel tanks, especially when there's been a crash. No one's going boom on her watch that's for sure.

Ohhh you know, the blindfold games of hide and sniff would be really helpful in the events of Security Breach. Like, if she wasn't infected by the virus, she would just default to using her nose and ears which uh. Yeah maybe a good thing she wasn't in control to think about that because otherwise Gregory would have been fucked lets be honest. Her threat level would barely have dropped at all I think.

On a more fun note, I bet that's a fun game they can play in the daycare and Gator Golf in particular. There's loads of places to hide in those places it'd be so fun. Everyone silently hiding and waiting for her to go by, throwing things across the room to distract her and hearing loud swearing when it accidentally leads her straight to someone else. Chica just throwing a ball directly at Monty, leading to him getting pounced on and caught while Monty screams "CHICA YA PIECE OF SHIT-" and Chica's sniggering gets her caught too lmao. I bet that'd be a really fun game for her to play with the Minis in particular too. They're small and fast so not only does she have to sniff them out to find them, she has to catch them too and Roxy loves chasing shit. Oh sdfsfdsf the Minis sabotaging anyone else playing the game too that would be funny.

Oooo and Chica could have a game with her where she runs around the maze and then Roxy has to try and find her way through it blindfolded through scent alone. It's all fun and games until Chica moves the maze around while she's in it and Roxy walks into a wall lmao

The Empire with Clay Feet

I'm an out and proud Nilfgaard hater but Nilfgaard isn't nearly as invulnerable as the games portray. Here's why:

They've gobbled up too much too fast. The Northern Realms are a full third the size of the rest of Nilfgaard and riddled with mountains, swamps, and Northerners rivers. That means there's plenty of terrain that hinders Nilfgaardian legions and tactics. Like the Ancient Romans, they're a well-oiled machine but their advantages are nullified in wilderness. Loads of people just fucked off into the mountains until the Romans left lmao. (Good for them.) The law and order Nilfgaard is infamous for will be difficult to impose across the board when they're stretched that thin in a foreign land of people who hate them.

Logistics. Shit is going to be a nightmare. You have long supply trains winding through swaths of devastated enemy territory full of desperate people. Let's not forget the Red Death. (No, seriously, CDPR. You forgot the fucking Catriona Plague.) This is a disease named after a Nilfgaardian ship that brought it to the Northern Realms. Nothing inspires hate and fear like a plague. People will be suspicious, hostile, and ready to take advantage of weakness. Local support will be grudging, at best. The Nilfgaardians will lack local labor that they don't enslave, which will take more resources from them and deepen animosity and fear. You're very far from home, the land has been devastated, there aren't people to work it, and those that are present want nothing to do with you...for a span of land that's a third of your empire. Good fucking luck, soldier. The population hates and fears them. That means they won't assimilate very successfully. Nilfgaard violated, butchered, and enslaved its way through the Northern Realms three times. They're also viewed as having unleashed a disease of unparalleled virulence onto the North. They don't hide their views on Nordlings as inferior and barbaric. That leaves a mark. People remember. They'll be much more loyal to a local government than outsiders from the country that killed friends and family, took their land, and/or took their kin to be slaves. That persisting local identity, that narrative of freedom, is what ultimately breaks the backs of empires. Economics. The North represents a forever war. You have lots of angry disaffected people. A lot of soldiers turned to banditry or rebellion. Keeping the peace, or at least keeping the trouble outside of Nilfgaard, will cost money. It will keep costing money. It will cost people. It will keep costing people. The Guild didn't like it before Emhyr invaded and they'll like it even less when factions and splinter groups endlessly harry them within their own borders. (This was one of Rome's great weaknesses, too). As long as there's a history of The Struggle, there will always be dissent. That dissent is now internal. It won't just be rustic Nordlings against the legions. It will be partisans attacking Nilfgaardian citizenry. The Third Nilfgaardian War didn't end, it just changed faces. The power of example. Vernon Roche and his partisans were an effective and persistent problem. They were such an effective problem that Nilfgaard actually negotiated with them. Even with Radovid's assassination on the table, for an empire to condescend to make deals with partisans and then hold to those deals speaks of weakness on Nilfgaard's part. Temeria went from being a conquered state to a vassal. The rest of the North will see that. The blueprint is out. Nilfgaard likes to manipulate local rulers to do their bidding. That's going to be a lot harder when local rulers have more options.

Homeland. Resistances and rebellions are inevitable. Small groups of determined individuals, fighting for their homes, can wreak havoc on long stretched out supply lines. Guerillas can strike and disappear. They know the land better and they're ideologically motivated. Nilfgaard's own tactics of decimating villages ensured further hate, fear, alienation, and partisan recruits. It's much harder to infiltrate, co-opt, and/or bribe groups of hard-liners who'd die for their homeland's freedom.

Ethnic chauvinism. Nilfgaard is rigid and hierarchical in its social circles. Its society relies heavily on slavery and expansionism. There's only so much land left to conquer and that land will be harder and harder to hold. To their west is the ocean and to their east is a hugeass desert. If Nilfgaard doesn't expand, it will collapse. Since its legions are preoccupied at its borders, when one frontier collapses then enemy forces can flood in. Nilfgaard lacks any ability to compartmentalize such a catastrophe because those backwards barbarians could hardly manage it, right?

Unclear succession. The final death blow. Any kingdom, big or small, is in danger when there isn't a clear line of succession. Voorhis is the logical heir for the longest time, but then Ciri shows up. Both have a rightful claim to the throne. Ciri's is more immediate. If she accepts the throne, she's still a Northerner elevated above the most well-bred peerage of Nilfgaard. That will create strife. Especially with a much more socially acceptable replacement in the wings that they need not sully with Nordling blood. If Ciri rejects the throne, Emhyr loses face and his position is weakened. This also gives rise to turmoil in Cintra, whose loyalty to their sovereign no longer acts as a counterbalance to memories of the Slaughter.

In conclusion, fuck Nilfgaard and fuck those frilly little ruffs.

Ah, well, see, depends on the type of sleep. For just 'getting some rest' kind of sleep, he can do that anywhere. But he'll wake up at the drop of a hat, too, you know? However, if he's home with Cinder? Oh he conks out, dead to the world (unless Cinder gets upset, that'll wake him up always).

Ghost is mostly practical about it. He'll work through it as much and for as long as he can, maybe a bit more. It's just sniffles. Now, Kam, however, will fret. To Kam, Ghost is invincible, and sniffles? Those should not leave Ghost looking groggy, tired, or unwell. Does Ghost need to go see Zech? Is he sure it's just sniffles? It's not something more serious is it? Does he need anything? Kam can go get it for him! (Ghost tolerates this pretty stoically but easily.)

Harlem: What makes your OC feel safe and secure?

Isn't that a loaded fucking question when it comes to Harlem?

He feels safe when Maverick is with him. For a long time, he only felt safe around Maverick, and even that didn't make him feel secure. (He knows he used to feel those things, before, when he was still young - with his mom's hugs, riding on his brother Calle's shoulders, etc. But that was long ago, when he wasn't who he is now. He can't relate to the kid he was anymore.)

Then of course, Harlem meets Zech, who takes one look at him and goes "Is anyone else going to protect that prickly asshole?" and then did not wait for an answer (okay, okay, he ignored Harlem's answer of 'fuck off') and did it himself. Which, Zech will tell you, was a long process of basically treating Harlem like a feral cat.

Now, of course, Harlem feels safe with his brothers, and he feels safe with the friends and community they've made over the years, and he feels safe with Zech. He feels secure in his place in their lives, in that if he does get hurt or taken again, they'll tear the realms apart to get him back (Maverick, obviously, but also - especially, even if others might not expect it of him - Zech.)

(After all, Zech's supposed to be the levelheaded of the two of them. He's not also supposed to go nuclear if something happens to Harlem. Little do most people know lmao.)

Finally got my new PC and even with all my mods it loads so fast 😭😭😭 I used to have to wait a good 10 minutes to play, and it would laggggg gggg g gg every few seconds. Mostly bc i had too many packs, but having, like, 7000+ cc didn't help is what i'm guessing lmao

Small question for you! Your Kokoro skins are divine (it's so satisfying building up a face using the Face Kit!), but EA scars don't show up on it, and tattoos don't show up on the back (iirc?) but do on the arms.

It's funny, since most times with skins that override things like that, the Face Kit doesn't work.

I don't want to mess with your cc, especially since i have literally 0 experience, but is this something about layer order, and can it be altered in like the studio?

And yeah when I was packaging the Kokoro skins I did make a few oversights, it wasn't until it was a few days published that I noticed and then was informed about some tattoos/scars not showing up over the overlay. 😭It's totally my fault but I've been too lazy to fix it (mostly cause I had to stare at that skin for months and it gave me slight PTSD 🥲)

But you can totally fix it in S4S going into the warehouse tab, scrolling down the right side list on the Data tab until you see the Sort Layer and changing the sort layer from 2200 to 2000 for all the swatches.

I plan to add on another package to the skin set so I'll update the rest then.

I WANT TO BUILD A SECOND MOOMINHOUSE ON THIS LOT SO BAD

and I do mean second... bc there’s no way I’m moving the one in Henford-on-bagley because that’s the only world where I can just enjoy countryside - no roads, no traffic... The runner up is def the island in Windenbug (after bulldozing every other lot there) but it’s still not “countryside” enough. (For a while I was gonna use Brindleton Bay because of the Lighthouse, BUT IT IS SO LOUD. Why sims, why?? I deal with enough noise pollution irl haha)

and Copperdale of course is your “high school movie” stereotypical world all American high school kids apparently live in xD which isn’t Moomin-y at all. It’s just this lot. Looks so good. The lake, even the bridge - they aren’t part of the lot of course but they’re very nicely placed. And there is access to the boardwalk without going through the loading screen, which would just be fun to play around with (I say that knowing all the rides are rabbit holes :/)

Hope we can swim in this lake...

as for the pack itself, well, I’m not a teen anymore lol. I’m not interested in it. I’m particularly concerned because “Prom” apparently happens once a week. That is way too often IMO! I don’t remember how often it happened in Sims 3, but I do remember that it came up way too often. Maybe that’s not a problem for players who play Sims the “right” way, by having their Sims age up and stuff... Uh, I’ve got aging turned off... I never change my households hahaha. I’m not interested in legacies etc. But that does mean ENDLESS PROMS, especially if they’re once a week...

However, the key to avoid it is probably just not to have teen sims. And I do generally not make teens anyway, because they can’t do anything young adults can’t, and they have to go to school, so you might as well just make them a young adult and avoid that lol. So now they are developing teens finally, so I suppose I’ll de-age my Digimon sims to teens and play it for a while, then age them up again when I’m bored. But otherwise I’m gonna continue to avoid teens thanks to weekly proms lmao. (Yes, I know you don’t have to go - but having to opt out week after week is going to get old really fast. There’s already way too many pop-ups in game >.<)

I don’t care about the imaginary social media stuff, but I am excited that we’ll get dual monitors. At last, I can give Koushirou that computer wiz setup he deserves. Also super want those boho chairs. They’re so adorable it’s almost cringey haha. But I love that aesthetic. Not enough to pay for it IRL... (Laziness is another thing, I could string fairy lights if I wanted to, but like, the effort...) So I live vicariously through sims :P

yeah so as usual my main problem with Sims is I don’t play it right x’D I make Sims, never age them up, have really long seasons, and rarely bother with any actual gameplay that isn’t gardening or fishing (bc I love those for some reason??) I cheat and make everyone millionaires so I don’t have to make them go to work and I cheat and fill their needs so I don’t have to feed them/send them to the toilet/etc... Yeah, I just totally play Sims the wrong way. What do I like about it so much? Idk man it just makes me calm. I’m not a gamer. Sorry I’m the stereotype of the “sims girl who doesn’t play ‘real’ games” lol. Might have been different if I ever played games as a kid, but hmm, I don’t know how that would have happened. My brother played, but I didn’t have an interest in any of his games. The only one I thought looked fun was a Zelda game, but I guess other things interested me more because I never finished it.

I don’t really enjoy having set goals, for one. I guess I don’t get a victorious feeling from accomplishing them (in games, I mean). Defeating bad guys and stuff. First game I ever played was Pokemon Yellow when I was like 7, and I still remember that I was just constantly stressed every time my Pokemon fainted, or especially if it got poisoned xD I felt so bad for it. But I’ve heard that nowadays you can interact with Pokemon in other ways than being a trainer, so if that had been around when I was a kid, maybe I would have liked games. I’m just not into fighting stuff. Except if it’s in a book or TV show, because then accomplishing the goals is part of telling the story. I think there are games these days that do a lot more with story-telling as well, so again, if those had been around when I was a kid, I bet I’d be more of a gamer. But as it is, I don’t care, and my sims live in perpetuity hahaha

(Everyone tells me the Zelda games were great, and if I had just managed to sit through it I probably would have been hooked. I think what I mean is, I needed a much lighter-type gateway to get me interested in sitting that long to play a game. But I would play for a few minutes and lose interest and go outside or something. So I just didn’t sit still long enough to learn what was cool in it)

One of the things I like about this game is how gentle the kid is with Yorda. Like okay he can yank her around a bunch while they're running, but he is an energetic child and they are operating on somewhat different timetables I think.. Outside of that though, like with the animation for helping her up onto a crate, he takes his time.

Another thing Bestie really liked is, when they wake up after you load a save, she wakes up first and she's looking around and vibing but she keeps her hand -almost- touching his, like she doesn't want to wake him up but she just likes being near him. Just little details that show how, even though they're kind of bound together by this circumstance, they do care.

The way that he catches her when she has to make a death defying leap, every time. Egg me playing this when it came out and I was like 10 thought, if I have to be a boy, I'd like to be this reliable. Like if I can't even match that energy what's even the point.

Fast forward to now and I'm a transbian with a best friend that chastises me if I fret over her too much when she's sick but like, I tried lmao

im boutta load up bg3 but first i gotta get some thoughts abt my tavs backstory out lmao

as you may know my tavs name is astyr and hes based on the oc thats my minecraft skin, so cuz of that i gave him the outlander background. but ofc the game offers you dialogue choices based on being baldurian and i have selected some of them SO im gonna say his parents were those off the grid, isolationist types. didnt trust other people, hated towns and cities. for the first few years of his life he was raised out in the wilds, only taught what was necessary for survival, hunting and fishing for food, building tools and shelter from scratch. but, he was always a curious kid, and even tho his parents forbade him from approaching other people, he would occasionally see travelers or adventuring parties down by the river he liked to fish at

astyr overheard a LOT of these people talking abt baldurs gate, which ofc piqued his curiosity, and eventually while tryna eavesdrop on an interesting conversation abt magic and sorcery vs. wizardry, he got spotted. now obviously this was a dirty, ratty little feral tiefling kid, so they assumed hed been abandoned and offered to bring him back to the city. and, well, these people were nice, and his parents were mean, and he wanted to know more abt the city but he could never find out how to get there, so he agreed

im thinkin that these adventurers ask his name, and he has no idea what a name even is, and these people are devastated. how long has this kid been out here??? and then he says his parents always called him "you" or "child" or "boy," are those names? and these adventurers are like "what the fuck??? kid are you okay???"

ANYWAY astyr is brought to baldurs gate and set up at an orphanage or smth (im not that far into the game idk if theres actually an orphanage or anythin actually in baldurs gate) and holy shit, this kid now has access to books. this kid learns fast, and as soon as he grasps the basics of reading hes basically teaching himself. its around this time he also discovers hes a sorcerer, and has a propensity for thunder/lightning magic, and starts teaching himself how to be a storm sorcerer! and also picks out a name for himself. he just thought it sounded nice

he eventually leaves the orphanage or wherever he was brought to and starts just livin out on the streets of baldurs gate, sneaking into school classrooms to learn whatever he can whenever he can and spending most of his time in libraries and whatnot, while slipping back out into the wilds to hunt for his own food and spending most nights sleeping in trees. hes just out here bein a forest cryptid and masquerading as a normal lower city kid, and by the time hes in his late teens its only partially acting. hes like a weird mix of feral wild-man and street-smart urchin, and is all the while honing his magic. and lemme tell ya hes a damn good sorcerer. hes not famous or well known, hell, basically only other ppl living on the streets know who he is, but he ended up being the go-to guy for magic stuff if you have no way to pay. just give him smth to eat or a potion or smth and hes down to do whatever

ALSO cuz hes a tiefling he obvs faced all the discrimination that tieflings face, so most of his social interaction was with other tieflings. hes pretty connected to tiefling customs, culture and history and takes pride in himself and his people

last thing, cuz he is p much a self insert, hes my age (24 almost 25) and this actually makes him one of, if not the youngest of the group? like, the only one i could see as being around that young as well would be shadowheart. maybe karlach too, depending on how young she was when she was sent to zariel, but i read her as being late 20s-early 30s anyway. so this rag tag group of adventurers on their way to save the world has inadvertently made the youngest member of their group the de facto leader. like ofc astyr is still a grown ass man but almost the entire rest of this group are in their mid-30s at the youngest, and yet this 25 year old is the one in charge while out adventuring. and while hes GOOD at it but he does still have his moments that remind the others that hes the youngest of them. idk i just find that whole dynamic interesting and kinda funny

...to get a bit angsty for a sec, one of these "he really is the youngest of us" moments was the reaction to kar'niss' pleading after astyr convinced him to walk into the shadows (based on my own negative reaction to that moment). that slightly smug smirk of satisfaction from outsmarting and avoiding a fight drops from his face in a second, ears lowering and tail freezing, and for the first time since the companions met him, astyr pales. he seems to snap out of his funk when the harpers speak to them again, and he goes onwards like everything is normal, but his tail still isnt moving. normally, it sways when he walks, flicks like a cats when hes content, idly wraps around the ankles of whoever hes standing closest to, but no, its just been dragging limply behind him ever since. and sometimes, in the silence and the darkness, he gulps, and shivers, and if theyre listening carefully, his breaths shake. and while he talked the toll keeper into killing herself with no problem, when the party was on the roof and spotted the drider and his caravan again, now shadow creatures, they all saw him freeze for a moment, but only astarion, who was stood in front of him to shoot the creatures all down from the edge of the rooftop, saw the shine of welling tears, the obvious signs of reliving that memory, in his eyes
