Day 8: Pumpkin!

“Alright! Let’s get started!”

Roman set down the two large pumpkins he had brought in from the Imagination, smiling proudly at them. Janus had begged him to show him how to make jack-o-lanterns, and Roman had waited to find the biggest and bestest pumpkins in the whole of his kingdom to make that happen! And now he had done it, and he couldn’t be more excited.

“First, we have to…” Roman trailed off, tapping his chin in thought, staring at his perfect easels for the scariest jack-o-lanterns in all the land! Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Janus sit down in a chair and pull his pumpkin slightly to him.

“You know how t’do it, right?” Janus questioned, and Roman huffed in defiance. Of course he knew how to do it!

“Of course I know how to do it!” Roman defended, summoning a carving knife into his hand. Roman hadn’t spent hours all day looking for the perfect pumpkins, and most of the night looking at images online for inspiration, just to be doubted! Janus shrugged, seeming to be persuaded.

"Alright, first what we have is…" Roman trailed off once more as he thought, before jabbing the carving knife into the air with a triumphant noise.

"Yes! We start with the eyes!" Roman declared. He could already see the vision in his head, and just as he wasn't to stab the pumpkin right where he thought that beautiful triangle eye should go, he felt a gentle arm touch his bicep.

"No." Janus said. Roman stared, confused. No????

"No???" He asked.

"We need'a adult." Janus said, sliding our of his seat and walking off towards the exit. Roman blinked, before putting his arm down. Yeah, maybe the did need an--

Hey! Wait a minute!

"I am an adult!" Roman argued. He wasn't regressed in the slightest! He knew what he was doing!!

"Need'a bigger adult." Was all Janus said, before toddling out of the room.

Patton patted Roman's arm sympathetically as he stared grumpily at his pumpkin, which was firstly cleaned and gutted.

"I'm sure he didn't mean anything, he just probably sensed you were tired." Patton tried to assure. Roman huffed and turned to look at Janus, who had pumpkin guts in his hair, marker marks up his arm and hands, and giggling as he stuck his finger through the eye hole Patton had helped him cut. He sighed fondly.

"I know."

What do you mean I’m a bit late for Janus’ big day? Of course not, how could you say such a thing! I definitely didn’t forget all about it in my absence and only get reminded in the incorrect quotes video live chat; that’s not like me at all ;]

Anyways I decided to dress our sassy snake in some different outfits I think he’d like. He seems like the type to get all dolled up on his birthday and it goes with Thomas posting pics in outfits inspired by the sides on their appreciation days!

Virgil Janus and Remus are angels

Roman and Remus are brothers (ofc)

Roman used to be an angel but he fell and is now a fallen angel

The fall hurt :(

Roman then befriends Logan and Patton (or rather patton befriends him and logan warms up to roman)

Janus is a seraphim, and a pretty high ranking angel

Virgils role as an angel is to “deal with” and kill demons

Virgil and roman used to be good friends in heaven, but after romans fall virgil lost all respect for him and tried moving on from whatever friendship they had because hes a demon now and virgil assumes hes a bad guy

Roman still thinks fondly of his friendship with virgil :)

Remus really misses his brother

Felt like going back to my roots and drew the Sanders Sides! I hope I finally did them justice.

I honestly have no idea what I’d be like today if I never watched this series. To me it acted as a guide on self reflection and gave me the vocabulary to talk about things like anxiety. And it did this in a fun, digestible, memorable way. I think the first video I watched upon release was “Fitting In,” and I remember the hype in the hours leading up to it. So that one will always have a special place in my heart. Also, Sanders Sides was my first fandom, and it made sure I was in a good online community. Even though I don’t think about the series as much now, it still means a lot to me.

Finally finished the Pony Sides, I've had so much fun tbh, not just designing them but also drawing, since I haven't used the binary pen in so long

I think the hardest part were the cutie marks and names, especially since I've been trying to choose ones that share nicknames with their original names (not the proudest of Logan's especially, might change it in the future)

Design notes under cut plus Goopy’s general uhhh….vibe(body horror warning)

If we were to say Mew are basically the equivalent of Alicorns, then like…That’s almost the entire cast man how do I EVEN-

So I took that idea but tried to make certain attributes more prominent?

Zeus relies on their psychic abilities most out of the cast so their horn is longer (cuz longer horn means stronger magic DUH), but their body is weaker and their wings aren’t too strong

Fuji’s a very phsyical fighter, so he’s got that strong Earth pony body but weak wings and magic (but now his horn is broken…)

Bella is all about speed and agility, so she gets wings that are far too big for a filly her age with a not as strong body or magic

Mosy and Janus are both pure Mew so they’re a lot more balanced (Janus is very strong despite looking dainty they WILL stomp you)

Gave Janus, Fuji, and Bella some traditional Unicorn features because fun

And lastly…Goopy….he ain’t doin so hot.
