LM3 Headcanon: The evolution of ghosthunting
Ghost Hunting can be separated into two “eras”. Pre-Modern and Modern
The pre-modern era was…basically before the invention of the Poltergust! Ghosts were usually “kept at bay” most of the time with stuff like charms that could ward them off rather than being caught!! Though catching, wasn’t entirely out of question, though it would take a lot of more magical means, like entrapping them in a jewel or something of the like. Usually mage like people would do this!!
The modern era of ghost hunting came around the time of the first Luigi’s Mansion game,as E.Gadd revolutionised it himself with the invention of the Poltergust!! He sold them around and they became a hit!! People could just grab a vacuum and suck up a ghost that was haunting them…or just because they could! And ghost portraits can be hold for very hefty prices,so that’s a win win!! E.Gadd gets a very big profit regardless!! In other words,E.Gadd essentially started the ghost hunting renaissance!
Unlife was never really easier for ghosts before the modern ghost hunting era,as ghost warding charms can be very painful for a ghost to be around, especially if people are shoving them in their direction if they’re being mobbed out by a whole, well…mob, and once again, ghost catching still existed!!
But with the modern era, things were…different. And not a good different. Ghosts who experienced the shift to the new era were…frankly horrified!! Ghost catching was once a worst case scenario sort of thing, but now…anyone could do it. Ghost capturing went from a rarity to something frequent enough that spectres had to actively look out for it!
And how it was accessible to anyone. Not the experienced few,but anyone who could get their hands on a Poltergust. Many of which ghost hunted because…they could. Because it was integrated in their minds that all ghosts are naturally malicious and catching them is a good thing. Some people just want a powertrip in knowing that they can capture people without any real consequences! Or maybe some just…don’t think that ghosts are people who’ve past, and it’s a hobby like catching bugs or fish.
There’s no consequences to capturing a ghost. Bowser captures Princess Peach and it’s always a big deal. But anyone could catch a ghost and no one would react as they would with the first example. Mario is there to save Peach, but no one comes to save a captured ghost. Most don’t even consider how the ghost feels about their loss of freedom…or how they feel at all!! You could call it a double standard!

KB as Luigi's toxic ex.
Listen.
Me, @istadris and probably many others who have seen their post have headcanoned that King Boo is Luigi's bitter, toxic ex who is pissed off that he was dumped and wants him back. Last night I came up with a literal timeline of how everything went down from LM1 to LM3 and I want to talk about it.
Lm1: KB was just another villain trying to show superiority, didn't even think Luigi would show up to save his bro and didn't have any traps or plans to defend against him, didn't even think he had to, hence why only the boos and poltergeist were actively aggressive towards Luigi, as it was under KB's command since he didn't want him getting Mario back, who was the actual priced possession at the time. Heck, there weren't even any Toads to save from paintings which shows KB's main goal.
Aftermath: KB is defeated and is shocked that he was defeated by Luigi, the second, shadowed brother of the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom with only a damn vacuum and some tiny elemental spirits he found hidden in the mansion. He wants to be mad but he's more curious and intrigued instead. This then leads him to try and learn more about the green man, heck even getting into Mario Kart, Mario Party and other games like this to try and approach him after hearing that Bowser was invited to these events too (He couldn't get into Smash Bros cause then it'd be too many Mario characters).
Start and end of the relationship: Luigi and KB know each other more personally now and they it ends up with them dating. But, KB is still an egotistical king that wants more power and he finds the purple gem stone that he replaced the red one with and it makes him more insane and aggressive. Luigi is scared and has to break up with him, trying to do so as lightly as possible so KB isn't too hurt emotionally and they can still be friends. Take three guesses on how that went based on LM Dark Moon. KB is furious and in denial, not wanting to let go of Luigi, but when he doesn't succeed he's so enraged that he swears to get revenge for this and keep him forever.
LM Dark Moon: KB learns of the new, docile ghosts that stay calm thanks to the power of the floating crystal called the Dark Moon (which I honestly want to look more into) and shatters it to unleash chaos and gain control over them. By this point, he knew how Luigi was the only one who could actually take on ghosts and boos and that he was more closely associated with EGadd so he was certain that he'd be called to do the job. Also because he kidnapped his brother again. The toads were just there and why not trap them to make it more fun? Afterall, the Toads were proper assholes to Luigi in way too many games so he took this chance to punish them for it. I don't think KB created all these mansions, he just found them and used them as his arenas, letting the ghosts figure out the how each one operated and use it to their advantage, with the boos often keeping them in line to the king's goal at hand. Even so, it was obvious that KB was more focused on doing actual harm to Luigi, with the creatures he created thanks to his new gem, to controlling the ghosts and even cursing the broken pieces of the Dark Moon, to going as far as to open a portal and let so many ghosts in that it nearly lead to the dimension collapsing on itself! All of this in a single night! I also want to point out the part in the scene at Secret Mines, where the boos had the ghosts in those red crystals to make them more powerful, taunting them while they themselves looked scared and trying to free themselves before having all that power forced into them and driving them crazy? That probably gave Luigi PTSD since he went through something similar with a worse outcome. And to top it all off, when he had finally all the pieces and thought he could go back to the lab to prepare to get Mario with probably the help of the ghosts, KB sabotages the camera that pixelated Luigi and went him in a pocket dimension that no one would be able to reach them and he couldn't escape from on his own. Honestly, I loved how they didn't have KB move at all besides him floating and staring at Luigi like that the entire time he mocked him, it made him look way scarier, like the calm anger mixed with menace. KB probably tried to make a deal that he'd let Mario go if he came back to him and ruled the land with him but Luigi refused and the fight started, if he couldn't make Luigi come to him willingly then he'd look lovely in a painting above his throne.
LM3: KB. Has. Lost. It. He is royally pissed and more psychotic than ever. He has become more ruthless and desperate to make Luigi pay before he is captured, knowing he couldn't save anyone, especially his bro and the princess. He was truly lucky he found such a naive ghost to willingly and obediently do anything he asked for and made the hotel probably as luxurious as his own castle as a way to show Luigi that this was the luxury he could have had but won't be able to enjoy now that he controlled ever spec of it. He is set on punishing Luigi in the worse way possible, the bosses using terrifying methods to defeat him, all unique and terrifying. Have you seen the T-Rex one? All ghost bosses had some strategy but that boss fight was immediate with no strategy except brute force and desire to kill. And the hotel is filled with deadly traps, spiked walls that slowly close in on you, locked in a room with deadly gas, axes swinging from the ceiling to slice you, the ceiling being threatened to collapse on you in a slow and torturous way, the list can go on but you get the idea. Luigi is greater danger than he'd ever been and at this point, KB is set on having Luigi alive or dead as long as he's his. He is sick to double-death with him slipping away from him when none of this even needed to happen.

LM3 Triplet headcanons(such as who is who, their personalities and likes/dislikes, would Luigi adopt them and be a good dad(considering they appear to be you by children)?
Well...
Lindsey is the oldest triplet who is kind, protagonist, clever and the leader of the tribe. She does like to help other ghost such as goobs who wants to learn about magic.
Nikki is the middle triplet who is hardcore, obnoxious, antagonist, annoying and crazy who has no time for anything but herself. She does like to make pranks on others even on her sisters and easily gets away with it.
Ginny is the youngest triplet who is shy, quiet and understanding to other ghost of the hotel. She sometimes stays in one place to be alone and to read books.
Luigi does look out for them like a good father figure he is, the other ghost would give him permission to babysit them if they wanted him to.

Do you have any more lm3 headcanons?
Cause I have seen some of yours and they are very cool!
I'm SO sorry I didn't get to this ask earlier. A lot went on and just general life happened so that's why it took so long. Again, I apologize.
Anyway, to the headcanons!
.I think of Lindsey, Nikki and Ginny thinking of Hellen as their mother. This is because I headcanon that the triplets were abandoned at a young age, so they preformed magic tricks on the streets to help take care of themselves. Unfortunately, their efforts weren't enough, so they perished. Hellen probably took in the frightened ghosts and decided to give them the proper life they deserved.
. Chambrea is addicted to caffeine. That's all.
. Amadeus tried to teach Gloria how to play piano, let's just say she's not aloud around pianos anymore. Gloria also tried to teach Amadeus how to be "hip" but he didn't see the point in it.
. Chef Soulfle gives the dead fish he doesn't use to Clem. Soulfle doesn't know what Clem does with the fish, and frankly he doesn't want to know.
. Chambrea tried to help teach Ug how to socialize better, and now they're best friends.
. Morty has made a lot of popular movies in his time, but credit was always stolen from him.
. Johnny's whole personality is basically if Gaston from Beauty and the Beast was a himbo.
.Clem is one of those people who thinks ducktape fixes everything. Car troubles? Ducktape. Broken heart? Ducktape.
.Kruller actually dreamed of owning a bakery before he became a cop.
.King MacFrights felt challenged when King Boo was brought into the picture, this led to MacFrights proudly challenging King Boo to a duel. MacFrights's ego was soon crushed.
.Dr. Potter has been called Harry Potter so many times he's about to go feral.
I think that's enough headcanons for one post. I hope you enjoy!

Alive Headcannons~
Blue used to eat the same thing everyday, toast and water, because of his work to help his family out! Sometimes on holidays he adds butter. Now since he’s a ghost he doesn’t eat much (still a work thing) but he is always open to try food.
Red loved volunteering for helping out the elders, helping to save animals, food give outs, ect! He just loved helping out people! He still likes helping out ghosts at the hotel, even though he will not speak anymore.
Yellow liked movies with action and a good plot to it, but he was guilted of watching them by some people in his life. But sometimes he watches them in private, trying to hide the fact he is. Nowadays, he visits Morty with his friends to watch movies and talk about great plots and storylines for a movie.
Purple had a interest in writing stories, he was interested so much he had a notebook on him everywhere he went. He would write stories of adventures and sometimes, he won’t admit it, romance! Since he is now a ghost, he does still write but it private so no one will bother him. But sometimes…he lets someone look at his little stories.

LM3 Headcanons: a shark’s several losses
(Boy howdy,we got Fishook angst!)
Fishook loved his crew very much. They were the very merry group of plunderers he’s known since he first took up the role of captain!! Or he had them join the crew. He loved em all equally!!
Though…there’s one of the many downsides of living the life of a pirate. Death. This man had to watch his crew mates die. Be it disease, losing battles, anything. He had to watch most,if not all of his crew members go limp as their eyes became glossy and their hearts stopped beating.
Understandably, this took a very big toll on the captain. For the life of glory that he firmly believes the life of plundering to be,there was a heavy amount of mourning. One that probably wasn’t healthy for a man to handle!
But…he kept pushing forward!! He did try to make sure his mates were okay! If he wasn’t busy there was a good chance he was keeping an eye on them…and in some cases,he ended up being in their last moments of life because of this.
He misses his crew very deeply. He still to this day has no idea if they ever became ghosts like him. He thinks about it from time to time though.
Also!! Because of this…
If Mary ever were to get sick, even if not from anything too bad, like a cold or nausea or something…Fishook would easily be reminded of his crewmate’s untimely fates…
Next thing you know,a staff member walks in on the pirate holding the ambassador close as he sticks the sickness out with her. If he’s not tightly embracing her in human form,he’s curled around her in shark form. (I do think he instinctively goes into his human form though!!)
Yeah,Fishook knows that she didn’t contract scurvy or anything! She doesn’t have spongey bones or bleeding gums!! But the thought of it…the thought of losing someone he loves so deeply again…let alone someone he thinks of as his daughter…you can see why he won’t be leaving her side!

Boouigi headcanons please 😭👏 can be as cute or degenerate as you like, I need the crumbs 💔 Bowuigi is great and all but Boouigi has so much unrealised potential!!! 😖
OH MAMMA MIA LET'S-A GO
So the way I ship it is a mix of love and kind of bullying from King Boo. Yeah he's very very fond of his human and wants to spoil him and posses him but DAMN is he going to do everything to make him squirm and squeak in fear. It's just too cute. If he can't get him in a frame, he'll just have to torture him in the most delicious ways.
At first he wanted to dismiss Luigi as weak (just a coward! Just beating him through sheer luck!!) but after his third defeat he insists on Luigi's prowess. He can't have been beaten by a wimp, can he?? King Boo managed to capture Mario three times and yet Luigi always beat him, ergo Luigi is the badass around here.
In a couple of my AUs, Luigi has a kind of appeal to ghosts. VERY strong appeal. Is it his fear? His aura ? His cute little face when he's surprised? In any case, Boos and ghosts are all after Luigi to scare him, yes, but they also desire him. Very much. Yes, in that way.
In one of these AU, a divergence from LM3, King Boo manages to corner Luigi at the beginning of the game before Luigi can flee through the laundry chute. KB is about to trap him in a frame but then he smells that delightful fear, and notices it's not the only emotion Luigi is feeling right now... Very amused, King Boo changes the rules : Luigi wants to free his family? He'll have to find King Boo at the top of the hotel...but instead of fighting each floor boss, he'll have to seduce them. Oh, Luigi is going to be very tired by the end of the night.
Why does King Boo never use his telekinesis on Luigi ?? Especially in LM3, when he uses it on almost everyone? Well, my theory is that either King Boo likes to play with his food, either Luigi has some kind of immunity/resistance to Boo powers. Which makes King Boo very frustrated
Listen. LISTEN. I have never been particularly into the tickling "kink". Just wasn't my thing. But then I got into this fandom, and mamma mia. Luigi is just. He's so sensitive and reactive, he NEEDS to be mercilessly tickled by someone, and with this pairing? Oh boy. King Boo's tongue. You know it's all kind of prehensile and tickling, and once he holds you down, it's all over. If his telekinesis doesn't work on Luigi, it's fine. He has a LOT of Boos who can hold down Luigi, and that's without counting all the other ghosts with grappling abilities or very long and dextrous fingers...
But on the softer side, King Boo loves to flaunt his wealth and taste, and Luigi happens to be a perfect sugar baby if you're kind to him. His face is such a delight when he discovers a comfy place or a cool-looking room or tries on new clothes, and he blushes so prettily when lavished with attention, King Boo can't help but spoil him. Especially after making him go through "torture" (the sweet or spicy kind).
They spend hours talking about art. Sometimes their tastes match perfectly, someone they call each other uncultured swines and Luigi is two inches away from turning the poltergust on King Boo.
I need to stop myself lest this post becomes an entire essay, but please keep asking me more about stuff like my theories on Accidental Ghost King Luigi, or that Thing he Does With the Tongue, or the Horny Version of Luigi's Mansion 3.
