In honor of Kwame Ture (born Stokely Carmichael), we did something special over the weekend. In Conakry, The Kwame Ture Foundation decided to give Guinean girls black dolls at a school in The Ratoma neighborhood Kwame Ture used to live in. Kwame used to bring black dolls back to Guinea after his trips abroad and gift them to young black girls so that they would grow up understanding that “black is beautiful” and appreciate their own beauty. There were only white dolls accessible at the time and unfortunately even today black dolls are rarely found at the market in Guinea. For most girls it was their first doll ever and for others it was their first black doll. Representation is important. We also gifted the local kids some backpacks, toys and soccer balls. We plan to continue this activity. Stay tuned! ✊🏿 #kwameture #stokelycarmichael #momodione #momodionegoinghome #blackdolls #guinea #conakry #blackisbeautiful #ratoma #blackpower #organize #representationmatters (at Conakry, Guinea) https://www.instagram.com/p/Chb79-DNhYl/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy Revolutionary Birthday to our brother and comrade Kwame Ture. That great son of Africa is more alive now and lives on eternally! He inspired and continues to inspire freedom loving people all over the world. Through his example, we can learn so much about how to understand the world we live in, what ideologies to guide us and the basis for the political strategies to achieve Pan-Africanism. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Under the tutelage of Kwame Nkrumah and Ahmed Sekou Toure, Kwame Ture recognized that organization and constant political education are the key to liberation of African and all oppressed peoples. And this is what Kwame Ture unselfishly committed his life to doing - everywhere and under any circumstances. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The best way to salute Kwame Ture is to carry on his work – to build the AAPRP or another similar political party or movement and continue his key message for revolution and Pan-Africanism – the total liberation and unification of Africa under scientific socialism.
Long live the revolutionary spirit of our beloved Kwame Ture! Long live the African Revolution!

Today, we recognize historical figure and former Howard student Kwame Ture (formerly, Stokely Carmichael), a Trinidadian-American political activist of the Civil Rights Movement. Once the National Chairmen for The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and a Freedom Rider, Ture later became the prime minister for the Black Panthers. In 1969 he moved to Guinea, West Africa, devoting the rest of his life to the Pan-Africanism movement and changing his name from Stokely Carmichael.
