Jews are indigenous to Israel. That's a fact. Just because some of us, although not most of us, look white doesn't mean we are not indigenous. Do you know how close Israel is to Europe? Do you know how many Arabs look white too? Are you aware of genetics? Do you know that 58% of Israelis are not white? Do you know that Jews lived in Israel continuously for thousands of years? You cannot colonize your ancestral homeland. Stop forcing your own white narrative from other places in the world onto the Middle East.  This land was not stolen. Every piece of land the Jews lived on prior to 1948 was legally bought. Then the Arabs started a war and most Arabs left at the encouragement of the Arab countries. Some were expelled from their homes but that's what happens in wars. Those were the minority of cases. The ones who stayed enjoy equal rights in Israel - much better than they would in any other Arab country. In contrast, ALL Arab countries expelled their Jews including my family from Egypt. 900,000 Jews left their homes in Arab countries and 700,000 Arabs left their homes in what became Israel. It's called a population exchange which is common all over the world in wars and happened around that time to many other people. But you only protest this one? Ask yourself why .

March for Jobs and Freedom, On This Day in 1963
#OnThisDay Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” Speech in 1963 at the March for Jobs and Freedom in Washington D.C. to thousands of union members.
Lost to history is the emphasis on the March for the fight for jobs that paid a living wage and the role of the labor movement in organizing this massive demonstration.

The March On Washington 60Yrs later- What does it mean?
Mainstream Media is almost tripping over themselves to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of The March On Washington... Seriously?! Black America is WORSE OFF now, than We were 60Yrs ago! We're still being oppressed by the Same Institutions that Dr. King & 'The Big 6' were marching to protest. I respect my Elder, but Andrew Young is speaking for himself when he says he's 'No ways tired'- more than a few of Us are Sick & Tired of being sick & tired!
U KNOW Mainstream Media had to play Dr. King's 'I have a Dream' speech; I think it's the only MLK Speech allowed. Maybe its just me, but the crowd participating in this 'Event' looked as disingenuous as the Event itself. Why were they there? What are they celebrating? They remind me of the Yuppies that make their pilgrimage to Newburg, N Y. to celebrate the glory & wonder of Woodstock; but the Event itself was a literal Mud Bowl that tested the resolve of the Attendees.
The Kumbaya Coalition looked happy to be part of 'History', but do they understand The History? The individuals that were interviewed ran the usual talking points of 'I have a dream'; are they aware that Dr. King famously said that he 'feared integrating Us into a burning building'? He also said that 'America owes Us a debt & We're coming to Washington to collect Our Check'. Once again, I feel like Black American Culture is being looted to suit another's purpose. MLK is being lauded, but he's just a prop. At the time of his assassination, Dr. King was disliked by 2/3rds of America. Over 160 Newspapers denounced him.
The 'Cloth' of Black American Culture is literally being removed from Us & placed on other groups. First Barack Obama calls his Immigration Policy: 'The Dream Act', & labels the children of Illegal Immigrants 'Dreamers'. Next, (White) LGBTQ... Individuals appropriate Civil Rights to normalize a Counter Culture. NOTHING is politically 'Black Specific', Everything is 'Black & Brown'; meanwhile, Latinx, & Asian Americans get specificity for their respective communities. It's the same thing w/ The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC). Their Mission Statement offers more to Immigrants, than the Black Americans that put them in Office.
As an Indigenous Black American, I feel an all out effort to remove & replace my lineage group. Efforts to rewrite American History, as it relates to Anti- Black Racism is gaining traction. Democrats & Republicans appear to be in agreement w/ placing Illegal Immigrants in Black Communities & instigating competition between Us for the same resources. Los Angeles was just The Beginning. The blatant culture appropriation by folks that We thought were 'Family', is forcing Us to revisit John Henrik Clarke's assessment (30Yrs ago) that: 'We don't have any friends'.
-It doesn't look good.

Reposted from @prismreports Sixty years have passed since 250,000 people mobilized in Washington, D.C. for the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom for Black Americans’ economic & civil rights. Created by labor unionist #APhilipRandolph & activist #BayardRustin, the march brought together Black labor advocates; unions like the @UAW; organizers; civil rights groups like the @NAACP & @sclcgkc; Black activists; & workers as a united front.
Tumblr media
While the march was exceptional in its sheer scope & pressured then-President John F. Kennedy to push the #CivilRightsAct through Congress, there were & remain many critiques. Malcolm X called it the “farce on Washington”; #JohnLewis revised his speech after organizers asked him to tone down critiques of the Kennedy administration; #JamesBaldwin was barred from speaking because of his identity as a gay man; & no woman was included in the line-up of speakers.
Tumblr media
In an effort to reach a wide audience, the march lacked the radical critiques of capitalism, white supremacy, & imperialism in calling for racial & economic justice. “Capitalism was built on the exploitation of Black slaves & continues to thrive on the exploitation of the poor, both Black & white, both here & abroad,” stated Dr. Martin Luther King in “The Three Evils” speech, a year before he was murdered.
In the six decades since the march, the U.S. government & the lobbying power of corporations systematically hacked away at labor power, unions, & critical workers’ rights gains. Black Americans disproportionately continue to live in a hyper-surveilled police state & are terrorized by police forces that murder with impunity.
From our on-the-ground coverage, we’ve seen how workers have been—& still are—fighting back, including the Black working class, incarcerated laborers, & Black women organizing service workers in the South.
Prism’s reporting reflects the lived realities of Black families & communities, & the fight for labor rights & everything it touches. The March Continues because it must, & we’re here to report on it. Read more about our project using the link in bio or on prismreports.org.

By the end of this month (August 28) we will have marked the 60th Anniversary of the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. Please take some time this week to learn about the remarkable accomplishments (and the struggles!) of that event's organizers, and the many OTHER speakers besides Dr. King. Learn about the lives of Bayard Rustin, Asa Randolph, Whitney Young, and of course the much-missed John Robert Lewis.
Learn also the reasons why such luminaries as James L. Farmer or James Baldwin DIDN'T speak, the role played by Prathia Hall, or why Daisy Bates ultimately was the only woman to address the crowd, that day.
Start here, if you like: http://petervintonjr.com/blm/lesson05.html

#MYBlackHistory Did you know? I once lent my #Bullhorn to the leader of the #NFAC during the #MarchOnWashington in #DC at The #MLK Memorial. He went on to give a very moving speech with it, as we stood together in #unity. It's disheartening to see that they locked him away for no reason... Wondering where all the STRONG black leaders are? They lock us all away before we can reach the masses. #BLM757 #ActvistAF #BaneJones757 #ProtestSaturday #PicofTheDay #BlackLivesMatter757 #PicofTheDay #BlackHistory #BlackHistoryMonth (at MLK Memorial. “I Have A Dream”
On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. to describe his vision of America.
More than 200,000 people-major black and some white-came to listen. They came by plane, by car, by bus, by train, and by foot. They came to Washington to demand equal rights for black people. And the dream that they heard on the steps of the Monument became the dream of a generation.
“This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with new meaning: My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And if America is to be a great nation, this must become true. And so let freedom ring from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire. Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of New York. Let freedom ring from the heightening Alleghenies of Pennsylvania. Let freedom ring from the snowcapped Rockies of Colorado. Let freedom ring from the curvaceous slopes of California. But not only that, let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia. Let freedom ring from Lookout Mountain of Tennessee. Let freedom ring from every hill and molehill of Mississippi. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring, when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children, Black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: Free at last. Free at last. Thank God almighty, we are free at last.” - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
