wait im new to mass effect and am romancing thane for hot dilf reasons pls tell me all about vakarios, i only ever see people talk about garrus not thane
Tumblr media
Oh BOY anon you’ve got a big thing coming on my vakarios brain rot Okok SO sit back and lemme just word dump on you on why and how I just really love me vakarios so much:
SO first things first don’t get me wrong I am a huge sucker for thane/Shepard, garrus/Shepard and specifically thane/shepard/garrus because i have personal headcanons etc and my canon is always Shakarios BUT vakarios is my thane/garrus part of all this
I love the idea of garrus/thane realizing they have a lot of parallels to eachother and thane seeing a bit of himself in garrus:
Example:
Thane talks about being in battlesleep for 10 years after the death of his wife Irikah where he basically went on a revenge quest and killed everyone involved in her murder. He comes to realize he made a mistake in terms of not staying with Kolyat and ultimately revenge not giving him the fulfillment he needed.
Garrus can be labeled as a man who is going through his own battlesleep after Shepard dies. For 2 years he basically said fuck it and went to omega to “clean up” and seek Justice against the criminals that he couldn’t take down in c-sec. It’s implied that he was devastated after Shepard died no matter if fem/bro shep and then it just snowballs when he’s betrayed by Sidonis. Garrus falls into his own small form of battlesleep given you can’t really talk to him much as Shepard until he tells you about his revenge quest for a loyalty mission.
I like to see the Normandy crew in me2 as a ragtag group of people who come together and become something of a family so they all get to see the ugliest and best sides of eachother and I love the concept thane and garrus would become good friends based off being snipers at first but then relating over the histories they’ve had. Thane is able to relate to Garrus’s seeking of revenge and has a different perspective over it.
Now when you play as Shepard and you go the route of stopping him from killing Sidonis consider that you’re kind of replicating the whole thing that thane went through with Irikah. Irikah stepped in thane’s way to stop him from killing someone and Shepard is doing the same for garrus.
It’s not until after this that Garrus will begin to see things clearer and differently and I love the concept of both thane and garrus realizing they have so much in common. This also can happen if Sidonis is killed. Garrus may be filled with that void of it not really helping him solve anything. He killed him via battlesleep and is barely coming out of it with the help of Shepard and crew.
Another thing is Garrus isn’t a stranger to losing someone close to him because of illness. His mother becoming sick etc has him as one of the only people on the Normandy who would probably know how to care for and make things as relaxing/comfortable for someone going through something similar (thane w his keprals) and like consider them just bonding over this in general.
And last but not least thane and his dry fuckin humor would make him and Garrus really close.
All in all I am a fan of every ship/crackship/rarepair etc because It’s fun to pair characters so i know vakarios isn’t for everyone but hell it makes me happy and lots of possibilities for it so :3 thanks for letting me ramble anon.

I am a fan since: I first played in September 2022 and it's consumed my life since! I had the OT since like 2018/19??? but i couldnt play because it gave me motion sickness kjdfhgkdf then I got MELE free cause amazon was doing a thing and by that point i had friends who taught me to mod the game and i can play with relatively few issues now :3
Favourite game of the series?: oooh idk i love them all and i played them first time all in a row so theyre kind of like one game to me... probably me2?
MShep or FShep?: femshep. ive yet to complete a game with anyone other than femshep. well, anyone other than sarani specifically lmao but hopefully that'll change xD
Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?: earthborn!! (sarani again xD)
Biotics or Tech: tech (again... sarani. she is not a biotic)

Favourite Companion:
Least favourite Companion:
you could put a gun to my head and i still wont answer those two i will not choose
My squad selection: i dont really have a main i think? it depends on who's narratively appropriate for the mission, then on who will help me most with their build. i try to make sure everyone has equal time cause i wanna see them all....
Favourite In-game romance: well it's def thane if youve known me a while youd know i used his name for like over a year while i was figuring out my gender stuff xD also garrus and tali ofc <3 but tbh they're all good!! with the exception of jacob cause bioware did him so dirty ugh
Other pairings I like: joker/edi, miranda/ashley, miranda/jack are some of my faves but tbh this world is my playground i WILL mix and match them xD
Favourite NPC: jenkins nihlus and aethyta, i kind of really want her to [liara shoots and kills me]

Favourite Loyalty Mission: Tali!!!
Favourite DLC: arrival. ok no lmao. omega probably!
Control, Synthesis or Destroy: destroy i guess but only because i pretend the geth and edi dont die lmao.
Favourite Weapon: black widow!!!!!
Favourite Place: Rannoch
A quote I like: Tali's 'The difference was you.' and 'I got better. I got you.' (very romance specific i know i love her okay) garrus's 'gray... i dont know what to do with gray.' legion's 'do these units have a soul?' kolyat saying 'the prayer was for you' when wrex says shepard is a sister to him
im gonna go cry now

heyyy i love your writing and i was wondering if you have any requests you’re working on👀
Thank you so much! I'm happy to hear you like my writing this much <33 Yes, I currently have 3 requests. One still baking in the oven, while the other two are finished cooling down and now awaiting frosting. A fluffy Jack one for valentine's day, A reimagining of the whole Citadel DLC but with Thane instead during all of the missions and lastly Helldivers 2 smut.
Here are snippets.
Jack fluffy headcanons
Jack always hated the concept of true love. That one person is supposed to magically fix all of her problems and flaws.
It just doesn't seem realistic, not to mention how weird it is to imply that people need to be fixed. That living beings are just broken on their own and require this special random someone else to put them together.
And since she has met you, she realised how right she is in her belief.
You didn't fix her. You didn't even attempt to. Not once did you imply that she should change who she or water her traits down for others.
You accepted her, flaws and all. Shitty personality and all.
It made her feel weird. To realise she has been deserving of love all of that time, that it was never something wrong with her that made others leave her.
That she was complete the whole time. Despite everything Cerberus did, not once did they manage to steal her from herself.
Thane Citadel DLC - Citadel: Party - Afterparty scene with Kolyat
You're reminded of the first time you've seen Kolyat, of the first meeting between him and his father during your time at Cerberus
They've really grown closer and somehow managed to overcome all the obstacles and muddy past they had. Kolyat forgave his father, and Thane was grateful for being offered a second chance again.
And yet, he risked it for you, the life he worked hard to fix and turn around.
For the second time.
You notice the bag of medicine Kolyat was carrying and the open water bottle in Thane's hand.
His son must have come here all the way, first thing in the morning, just to deliver his father's medicine.
You give them their space, not wanting to interrupt Kolyat's angry lecturing of his father.
The last thing you see before going back inside is Thane pulling his son into a hug. Reassuring him that everything will be alright, his dad is right here.
Going back inside and checking with the rest of your crew and passing the hangover pills around, you gather them for breakfast.
Thane enters shortly after, and you stand up from the table and go to meet him at the door.
Offering him to bring Kolyat to join you and the rest for breakfast.
"Siha...I wouldn't want to impose."
"Nonsense Thane, you're as much part of this team as everyone here."
You step closer to the man whose extended lifespan feels nothing short of a miracle, the man you've come to love with all of your soul. If it wasn't for the war, you would spend every second you could spare with him until his last breath.
His hands feel cold against yours, his touch so familiar and full of longing.
Your eyes are full of promises when you meet his green ones, surrounded by abyssal darkness like the deep ocean. Promises to fight this war, to make the world a better place.
For Kolyat. You'll make sure his son gets to grow up in a safe world. That even when Thane is gone, he can entrust you to be a guardian to his son and look out for him after the fight is won.
But for now, you ask nothing more of this life than this one chance to share a meal with the two of them. Sit around a breakfast table and have a glimpse of what a normal life with Thane must have looked like in a different world.
With a nod, Thane accepts and goes to bring his son inside.
At first, Kolyat is shy and unsure at sitting next to so many people, most of them legends and hangover at that too.
You're amused at how much this scene reminds you of how Thane acted at the start of the casino mission, like father like son.
But after some time, Kolyat starts opening up to others and answering their curious questions. Surprisingly it is Grunt who is the most interested in him and continuesly asks him about sharks and if Kolyat has seen any.
He answers that he has swam with many, and just like that, Grunt is hooked and pushes James out of the seat next to Kolyat so he may claim James's seat for his own.
The two of them click immediately. By the end of it, they exchanged contact information. Grunt promising to share his secret stash of shark videos with Kolyat, who turned out to be very knowledgeable about marine biology.
Helldivers 2 - heavy smut
Of course like any other activity that involved sexual Intercourse with another human, it required an immediate report in the aftermath to the ministry of healthcare in the form of paperwork. In the case the activity could result In a child, an extra paperwork is in order to request a permission slip that you could forward to the ministry of population regulation in order to start your work towards getting pre-pre-approval for the right to create a child, with additional screening and tests required to pass through plus an additional wait period depending on how many other people are requesting the permission to repopulate during this year. All fall under the rule of C-01. Failure to do so might result in having the right to your reproductive organs revoked for not meeting the standards of civility expected of every loyal citizen to uphold the constitution of managed democracy.
Paying no mind to your numbing kneeling knees, much like you had to crawl through dirt and kneel during combat to get better accuracy on your machine gun, you could endure staying in this position for hours.
You were made to fight, your body honed for combat, endurance, and stamina. The officer could be as rough as he wants with you, and you'd still take it because that is your purpose in life.
It was decided for you, like everything else in your life. You don't need to ponder or get curious about anything. You don't even need to think because your government will do the thinking for you.
You don't even need to touch yourself, just say the word and your loyal officer will bend you over the nearest surface and fuck your brain out In front of everyone, even other helldivers in the room getting their weapons setup.
the armoury is already placed in the middle of the ship after all, it's not like all your officers and engineers haven't seen you naked while changing equipment. There is very little courtesy offered in times of war.
So it won't be any different to have you pressed against the armoury wall, thighs wrapped around him as he fills you with his cum before zipping you up and shoving you into the nearest landing pod to get ready for your mission.
Landing on the planet with legs all wobbly and stuffed to the brim with his cum. Feeling it slowly leaking down your legs and staining your armour as you fight for your life while simultaneously trying to finish your mission.
Having to work with the teammates who just watched you take a load inside and scream in pleasure, just to join them afterwards like it's nothing. Feeling their eyes on you the whole time and knowing they know what the growing stains between your legs are.
Their touches start to linger, squeezing your thighs whenever one lends you their stem injection after you run out. Groping your back as you help them reload their weapon before another breach arrives.
That's the humiliating fate that you could be subjected to. That's the life of a soldier you signed up for.
Instead you're here, laying on a semi comfortable bed as with your hand held tenderly while someone prepares you with their fingers.
Taking you to his own quarters, giving you the luxury of privacy and going out of his way to be kind to you. Your superior must really care for you.

What are your Thane/Steve headcanons? Would Thane call Steve Siha, or would he use a variant or different name? Does Steve have a favored thing he calls Thane? Where do they retire after the reapers? Bonus question for fun: What's Shepard up to (or not up to) in their canon?
General headcanons: Thane lives, having got kepral's treament from Mordin and Miranda at the end of ME2, he decided to do it to have more time repairing his relationship with Kolyat, and with the loving support of his new Normandy family. He and Steve meet pretty much the way the Shepard/Cortez romance plays out in 3. There's an instant spark, but they tread carefully and measured, as they are both such careful measured men themselves, and Steve is still reconciling his mourning. Thane is a great comfort through that and they grow close, eventually becoming romantic. Their romance is sizzling, they have excellent chemistry and are just so deeply into each other it's unreal. Steve fully becomes part of the Krios family over time, marrying Thane, being stepdad to Kolyat, dad in law to Feron and grandad to Mina. Would Thane call Steve Siha? I have considered this one a lot myself and this has prompted me to finally finish up my ideas. First off:  Steve is a protector of sorts, so Thane could absolutely call him Siha and it would work beautifully! With their range of gods and angels there could be a name more suited to Steve specifically however, which is what I have worked on.  (and I think even as platonic friends, Thane would still see Shepard as a siha. But maybe he’s hit the triple siha jackpot). My idea i’ve worked on is: Melithas When a drell of the old gods see’s a shooting star, they offer a prayer to these angels of the fates. For surely these scouts are doing work of great importance, weathering the roiling seas of creation and destruction to weave together the tapestry of life as the God’s will it. In the greater drell common tongue lexicon, melithas has endured as simply a way to describe shooting stars, meteors and comets visible from a planets surface. There’s something about Thane calling him his shooting star that is making me very soft. But if this ask is secret santa and you are writing and don’t want to have to aside for a long winded explanation of his nickname, siha is absolutely fine, as is any made up name of your own! You are also welcome to take melithas and roll with it in whatever way your brain goes. Regular pet names like sweetheart also work. Does Steve have a favoured thing he calls Thane I think Steve is very generous with his affectionate naming conventions, but is of course a consummate professional in his work, so it will be situational. My sweet, love, my love, darling, sweetheart etc. And during more vulnerable, intimate moments he gets more syrupy sweet, especially when being praising/encouraging. Thane is a strong guy but when he gets to be a melted puddle of goo with Steve he absolutely loves being coddled and that’s when the more syrupy names from Steve like baby and sugar come out to play. Bonus points if you can get a kitten in there without it sounding like a shitpost lmao
Where do they retire after the reapers?Ooh that’s a tougher one. Steve I feel can be happy just about anywhere with his skills as pilot and requisitions being useful on all sorts of ports, planets and stations alike. He’d also make an excellent piloting teacher. Thane is the tougher one.  I like to think that Thane has grown and wisened enough to realise he can be more than his training, or can at least adjust his training, and isn’t stuck as “assassin or fail and die” mode still. I have all those kolyat x Feron headcanons with them getting married and having a kid (Mina), working as information gatherers for Liara the shadow broker but moving from mostly field based work to mostly work from home research roles once kiddo arrives. So maybe they settle on a station somewhere when they have a kid, somewhere with good ports to do small journeys regularly, and Thane and Steve decide to semi retire on the same station to be with their family and also do similar work. Thane would have some basic grasp of how to research marks, Kolyat trains him in greater general research techniques (and just imagine the hilarity of Kolyat teaching Thane, I'm sure some sparks flew at times) and Thane splits his time between home office based extranet sleuthing with kolyat, and occasional field work with Feron (planting monitoring devices, making information trades, that sort of thing). Steve ferries them around, and otherwise teaches piloting lessons from the port. Maybe Shepard makes sure Steve gets a really nice small ship/luxury shuttle as a retirement from the alliance/post war thank you gift. Sorry that was a bit meandering let me sum up a bit more clearly : they semi retire on a nice big comfy station, could be the citadel, could be a made up one. They have a great apartment filled with comfy nick nacks, and as they are in a hub location Normandy friends drop by all the time. Steve still gets to fly, doing lessons and occasionally taking Feron and Thane to jobs. Thane gets to spend time with his kids and grandkid, and still use his skills on a part time basis doing a little light espionage for Liara. They work in little bursts as needed, and spend the rest of the time enjoying each other, the multi cultural fun of the station, and babysitting their granddaughter.
What's Shepard up to (or not up to) in their canon? I have no specific headcanons for a Shepard in the Kriotez universe. I have a vague idea of it being a Shepard that is in a relationship with Liara, romantic or just a very deep loving platonic friendship,  and post war (Shep survives) they work together running the shadow broker business (as a force for good, mostly using it to keep a check on all those pesky backstabbing governments and corpos making sure they aren’t using post war turmoil to do shady shit, and also making sure that extranet and logistics is able to reach outer systems). Shepard absolutely adores Thane and Steve and was stupidly giddily excited when they got together and lost their shit when asked to officiate their marriage, Shep ships them! No specific gender/looks/names for this Shep.

For the Shepard questions, 21, 22, and 34?
21. Do you have any AUs for your shepard?
well, i'm technically writing one. but is it also weird that i think about butcher of torfan background a lot? my last playthrough was a ruthless shepard (that i tried to play full renegade and failed, because i am soft) and it was very fascinating to think of a lot of the potential choices.
also i am soft in general over meeting-before-the-story type meetings - i absolutely want to see ranch kid shepard interact with aliens! especially awkward cadet garrus!! i have so many thoughts about how their interactions could go, most of them hinging upon the fact that ranch kid shepard has never known a day of self-consciousness in her life and would drag very self-conscious and semi-sheltered garrus into things like playing with herding dogs and running through pastures until they're both muddy and exhausted.
and the age differences would be very funny, too, because a) wrex with a bunch of kids/teens/etc hanging off of him like a jungle gym, b) young father thane looking at these hellions and being scandalized. protectively holding baby kolyat like "you will not grow up to be like those" (sorry, thane, kolyat is worse)
22. What’s the last thing Shepard ate before the final reaper showdown?
lmao this is one i've never thought of! i'm going to answer "copious amounts of booze", because i love unhealthy and desperate coping mechanisms, and i definitely believe my shepard uses alcohol WAY more than she ought to, enhanced body or not.
34. Got any tattoos?
nope!

🕯️ ⇢ on a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? why is that?
Eh... 5??? Don't love it but I don't hate it hate it - editing can actually be kind of fun in the way untangling a massive yarn ball is fun, you start off with this immense mess and pull one errant strand and suddenly it all lines up and makes sense xD
🛼 ⇢ describe your latest wip with five emojis
🥑 ⇢ you accidentally killed somebody, which mutual(s) do you text for help?
... good question. Probably @schmendrickmagician due to The Warrior's Bond and also I inherently trust New Yorkers for helping with that kind of thing.
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
Ghost713! I tend to be more for one-shots or single stories & not authors as a whole in terms of what I seek in fic but Icca's stuff has been some of my favorites since first getting into ME fic.
🌻 ⇢ tag someone you appreciate but don’t talk to on a regular basis
@teamdilf ! Always quite encouraging c:
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
It's been a Shrios thinkin' week and maybe it's having had a miserably exhausting run at work, or that it's spring... anyway. Here's a happy one xD
I've always had it in my head that sometime during ME3, Adrian & Thane do actually get married in a private, very quick little ceremony; mostly because Adrian doesn't trust one half of her family and would like to ensure, in the very likely event of her death, there's no dispute over her assets going to Kolyat.
But in the alternate little canon I've been going with - so yes like, legally they're married, but it's kept quiet from literally everyone because A: there's a whole ass war going on and B: ... they're. Actually a tiny bit afraid. Because as much as they click, it has been a rather short time together, and neither of them actually believed they'd make it to the other side and see peacetime.
So there's that persistent fear of... 'what if we're too different, once we have a chance to grow outside of a pressure cooker'? (Doesn't help that these are also two people who've been deeply stifled in terms of deveolping a personal identity vs Really Fitting Into A Mold), and it probably does get brought up - and ultimately, well... it's scary, but if they drift apart, so be it, but might as well continue enjoying the ride until then, right?
Anyway about ten years later, a lot of people get invitations to a renewal/actual wedding ceremony and it's quite lovely :>

5, 10, and 26 for the artist asks? :D
Hey Pigeon! How you doing?
5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself
You know, it used to be I would feel like I had to post content every week, and at my zenith of this weird rule I put on myself, it would sometimes be more- 2-3 times a week, even.
I burnt out, funnily enough. There were other contributing personal factors to my art block/social media silence as well, but I needed to go to fallow, if you see what I mean. I used the time to read, garden and recuperate. (I got ill.)
I’m now back, and I’m actually hoarding art. I have several things to post, if I wanted to, but I don’t feel inclined until the projects are done. I also am juggling more WIPs, which is something I never used to do. I used to have a very clear idea > start it > finish > post it pipe line, but now I just work on what I want, and I’ll shove it online when I get there.
10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw
At the moment it’s hats.  Used to love putting Ori in fancy business casual, though.
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
I did a series of little father/son vignettes of Kolyat and Thane on vacation in New Mexico, and I intended it to read as awkward and a little lonely, and a step away from antagonistic. Kolyat is not having a good time in most of the paintings, but the comments/tags didn’t really see it as this.
Only a few clocked it for what it was, so it did resonate there with some.
Thank you for the asks! They were super interesting. Taken from: Weirdly Specific Artist Asks

Since Thane can't see some colors, do you think when he dresses casually, it's an absolute clashing nightmare?
I actually put on my serious hat for this very innocent joke because I love the symbolism behind style so I am pulling you up a chair and trapping you in the vortex of my passion and info dumping.
No! Because the only colors he actually gets uncertain on are Dark Red and Black! But in exchange it makes him capable of seeing UV light. Also, people who have different forms of color blindness (or visual impairment) that I’ve heard have their clothes labeled with the correct color :) (labeling his stuff is something I could definitely see Thane doing, at least with the few important things he has or even his sniper bag)
So technically, the only thing he may have some difficulty pairing is black and red (which— in his alt outfit he actually does just fine if we don’t discuss the sunglasses)!
Thane dressing casually is literally something I think about 85% Of the day. Would he tend toward black? Something tight fitting or loose fitting? And because his worth is so heavily tied to how he expresses his appearance and carries himself, fashion is a natural extension of that.
Yes I think he has the potential to dress outdated— he’s angsty and sad most of the time before he meets Shep n Crew and post Irikah so that doesn’t leave much time to develop a hobby or interest, especially not one considered so luxurious. That is indicative of his attitude toward himself and the value he places on his role as an assassin. But he’s aware of outdated and unfashionable things. He refers to his music that Kolyat wanted to dance to as such.
But I think once he starts “waking up,” or seeing the worth in himself past assassinhood (as a friend, father, or lover) he begins to alter his dress to reflect this. I think there’s a lot of stumbling and image protection when he’s tentatively moving from this state of deep depression toward opening up. Rarely are such long term mental pitfalls easily resolvable with “wow you changed me! And it was so easy bc u were just so good!” It’s more like backsliding, falling forward, then backsliding again as you hope that between the rocking you’re actually getting somewhere good.
So there’s a period in his fashion where he doesn’t stick to pure armor but can experiment with softer clothes: a trenchcoat, a turtleneck, nice shoes even? All in black or dark colors still, but it’s because he’s still holding onto this image of all he’s known of himself. It’s terrifying to separate too quickly, and there are many ways he still sees himself as a “darker” force of balance. I think he’s extremely thoughtful about the colors he wears just like we as people are! It’s hard to wear a bright red or flower print right away without feeling wrong or uncomfortable because “that’s not who you are” and all you’ve known is black leggings and hoodies.
And softer clothes ARE different— theres no utility for wool in a fire fight, there’s no speed advantage to wing tipped dress shoes. It’s an experiment with himself as a person and a version of growth. He’s visualizing himself outside of his role of assassin even if he’s still keeping to the “shadows” and familiarity with the color. He’s testing the waters.
One day, if he lives in your canon or maybe even in me3, he can start the full mental separation from his role as assassin to whatever his next step is. Colors can come abound, because that portion of his life can (presumably, with healing) start to feel like it is ending.
I think the hardest color for him to wear is white. Because he IS so thoughtful and emotional toward the weight of symbols and reminders of himself (his hands, the water, his weapons), white would symbolize a complete departure from where he was when we met him. White cannot disappear in the shadows. White does not compromise or absorb the rest of the colors to blend in. It is symbolically glaring, like snow, an announcement of himself and used as a representative color of the affluent and domestic (like the councilors or politicians we run into).

you know if the Keelah Si'yah doesn't make it safely to Andromeda I think I'm going to riot. Please let the funky little aliens survive, if we find that ship and it's blown to bits like Natanus was I will Scream. Continuously. for Hours. BioWare this is a Threat.
Also there's drell on that ship, if we ever go back to Andromeda can we have a drell companion? Or a hanar? I'd like that for me5 regardless but it'd be extra fun for Andromeda. Can you IMAGINE the Blasto jokes if we got to team up with a hanar? Also drell are so ridiculously underutilized like HELLO??? You make really cool lizard people with TWO SETS OF EYELIDS and really weird hands that for once don't have 3 fingers and you only include 3 of them in the whole series!!??! And you only bothered to make ONE OUTFIT so Kolyat and Feron just have barely modified copies of Thane's outfit??? HELLO?? YOU COULD'VE DONE SO MUCH MORE???
Also I would literally actually KILL to see alien fashion that isn't just the same basic suit/dress 300 times. The asari are rich as fuck, their fabrics and couture must be TOP TIER. I love the pastels of the angara but what the actual fuck is the shit the civilians wear? How does that even work, how do they put it on??? The material is so strange, what is it? I love to imagine the couture on Aya includes fabrics that look like molten lava. Fabric that glows like the plants on Havarl!
I'm falling down the rabbit hole here so to make it all make sense, some random hopes for me5:
drell companion. PLEASE. BIOWARE I AM BEGGING. I have a track record of falling for drell but even if I didn't, if we got a female drell companion I'd fall in love with her instantly and she'd own my whole entire soul, same as Isabela from DA2
for the love of all that is holy bioware PLEASE TALK ABOUT LANGUAGES. A whole codex entry about the bazillion different languages of the angara, and Jaal doesn't even call a romanced Ryder by a cute name in his language?!?!! TRAGEDY
more hanar. i don't even care in what capacity tbh, they're just so funky. space jellyfish!! what's not to love!! They TALK through BIOLUMINESCENCE. Also we know so little about them like what is up with that? What is the nature of their relationship with the Protheans, back when the Protheans were alive?
KROGAN BABIES!! I WAS PROMISED KROGAN BABIES I WANT TO SEE KROGAN BABIES!! And baby salarians and turians and i'd love to see them all be friends,,, can you IMAGINE a baby salarian though??? Their eyes must be so bonkers disproportionate to the rest of them like baby horses and their spindly legs...if a baby alien looked at me I would die immediately. I love you baby aliens. To die ensuring that you won't see the horrific monsters that inhabit these galaxies would be the greatest honor
if Shepard shows up - which, can't tell a lot from that trailer but imo it looks like Shepard might be the PC again - just let them rest. If it were up to me, the only game Shepard would be in post-ME3 is one in which they're happy and healing and not having to sacrifice themselves to save the fucking world again. Shepard's suffered enough, they've more than earned a chance to rest. The thought of seeing them have to pick up the gun again to fight and suffer and die again breaks my heart.
Quarian ark!!!! What on earth happened??? Did someone bring the plague back? Did kett cause a plague or catch the ship? DID THEY END UP WHEREVER THE JARDAAN RETREATED TO??? the quarian ark dlc haunts me every day. I really hope they're alright :(
I really doubt it's coincidence Cora and the Illusive Man have the same last name. I mean, extended family is a thing, and Harper is probably a really common name considering how many humans there are in the galaxy, but...hmmgh......it eats my brain
and, finally: WHO was that SHADY-ASS MOTHERFUCKER ALEC AND JIEN GARSON WERE DEALING WITH????? The benefactor??? Is it TIM? Is it somebody else entirely? TIM and his somehow limitless money seems like a probable suspect, but where in the world did all that money come from? Why was Jien murdered? How on earth did only the Hyperion not fall into enemy hands immediately on entering Andromeda???

hi, i'd love to know more about your shepard! like what class is she, what's her background, etc. any details about her would be cool :]
Hiya!! I’m so happy you asked about my gorl 🥺 I have many thoughts and headcanons about her 💕 I am working on an official ref sheet of her but it isn’t ready yet :’) so I’ll summarize on here for a bit but here’s a quick doodle of her ♥️
Tumblr media
Her name is Isani Shepard!
-Sentinel
-Mindor background
-Sole Survivor
Isani is Mexican and she grew up in Mindor up until she was around 4-5 years old. My headcanons are that the attack on the colony happened way earlier for her than what canon gives us and she lost her entire family during that attack. She is almost taken into slavery but is saved by Anderson who eventually adopts her like his own (look he’s a real dad ok)
My Shepard was initially plotted to become one of the alliance’s assassins (there is more lore to this concept such as she met Kai leng much earlier than canon too but that’s for another day) and she is trained as an assassin but the one flaw she has is that she relies way too much on her brute strength and biotics and she is TERRIBLE at trying to sneak or be stealthy which of course is a staple as an assassin and because that’s just something that she cannot change she instead goes through the n7 training and goes through the whole sole survivor incident which leads to her becoming commander of the Normandy eventually.
During ME1 Isani used to sport full body jumpsuit/under suit almost at all times because she suffered ALOT of scarring from the thresher maw attack. She’s not really self conscious about it but she knows that others get judgemental and doesn’t want anyone to try to pity her so she just covers them up.
Isani is very Paragrade but usually is Renegade with missions and how things are supposed to get done vs with her crew/friends she’s very paragon. Of course she isn’t entirely easy to get along with though because I headcanon she has a lot of issues with how certain people have gone through life. Example: Thane.
Isani is my canon for my Shakarios trio but the dynamic between her and Thane/Garrus is very different than what the game gives us lol. Like Thane/Isani are almost on a Rivalromance because Isani doesn’t take Thane’s choice to leave Kolyat/his family too well. She UNDERSTANDS why Thane felt the need to leave but it doesn’t mean she accepts it. Thane and Isani have a rocky start but Thane also sees right through her when it comes to how she ends up handling the fact she was brought back against her will.
Her relationship with Thane/Garrus comes also very differently than in game so that whole reach and flexibility talk doesn’t really happen or Shep telling thane “I want you” after that lore dump of his wife 💀 but the details of them coming together is for another time
Isani deflects serious conversations with jokes and flirting so for a long time no one actually takes her seriously on her flirting/etc and only some crew mates are able to have a serious conversation with her for a while (Joker, Liara, Samara, Chakwas)
I have a lot of thoughts about Isani but these are a few things about her! Thankie sm for letting me ramble kahdjshd

Prayers of the Father
Pairing: Miranda & Thane (gen) Characters: Miranda Lawson, Thane Krios Fandom: Mass Effect 2 Rating: General Warning: Discussion of terminal disease
Summary: Thane meditates alone after witnessing Miranda and her sister reunite, the similarities (and differences) between their circumstances not escaping him. On the Normandy, however, he is not a man alone, and being a member of a crew means accepting help from unconventional places.
This was my gift for @celestialarcadia for the @spectre-requisitions-exchange! It was a pleasure to write! You can also read it here on AO3.
They were twins, alike in every way, down to the finest strands of their DNA. Only Thane did not see a mirror when Miranda stood with her sister; their faces wore their years differently.  Oriana was bright with only the faintest thought lines impressed between her brow. Though Miranda’s face was smooth, it was haunted by ghosts— they lingered in the corners of her eyes and the set of her jaw. All the pain she had borne so her sister could know a life of leisure.
The only reflection was their smiles: they were identical in their joy, in their gratitude for this opportunity to share their lives with one another.
Every detail of the scene he’d merely glimpsed at Shepard’s side was etched into his memory. It burned in his mind with greater brilliance than a reunion between a distant co-worker and her long-lost sister had any right to.
Perhaps it was because he was glad for her. Perhaps it was because he could blink, and in the millisecond before his third eyelid opened he could imagine himself standing in Miranda’s place, and Kolyat in Oriana’s.
Perhaps it was hope that gave the memory its gauzelike glow.
Or perhaps it was envy.
Be it jealousy or yearning, he was alone now, meditating to the electric hum of the Normandy’s engine. Though his hands were clasped before him, all prayer failed him. He had come to his gods in times of bounty and hardship, but in that moment he fell silent. His heart was too clouded with desire to see the path ahead, and he would not invoke their names until his thoughts ran clearly.
In that state of silent contemplation, estranged from the gods he put his faith in, the doors to life support hissed open. He expected Shepard, or else Chakwas, there to listen to his lungs, but the hollow sound of heels tapping against the floor announced Miranda’s arrival.
“I’m not interrupting, am I?” she asked, drawing to a smooth stop a few paces behind him.
He angled his head towards her, body still facing towards the Normandy’s rear engine. “No. I was seeking favour with my gods on your sister’s behalf. She has a long and dangerous journey ahead of her.”
And like that, the words find him. Suddenly the hands folded in prayer held meaning in the empty space he cupped between his palms. “Arashu, goddess of protection, guide Oriana safely to her future home. Amonkira, Lord of Hunters, shroud her father’s eyes, protect her from his sight.”
Silence at his back as his prayer finished. Humans, he found, spoke rarely of gods, and when they did it was always in passing. Miranda’s silence felt different, as though she wanted to grant it a window of deference before she deigned to speak again. “Thank you,” she said, voice low then rising in volume, easing into the secular. “I won’t turn aside help from anyone, least of all a goddess.”
With a sigh, she ventured further in what had become his quarters, nails drumming against the desk he leant on as she drew level with it. “There’s no saying when my father will get wind of what happened today, but I’d wager it won’t be all too long.”
Thane watched her suck a breath in around her teeth, a moment’s weakness, quickly quashed. When she drew her gaze from the engine, she was poised, precise. She did not come here on a matter of business, but neither for idle conversation. “But she’s safe, for now. Thanks to Shepard, and to you.”
He blinked. What he expected when she entered he couldn’t know, especially now, but he could safely say he did not expect this. “It was my duty as an assassin in Shepard’s service. I made a vow.”
“To stop the Collectors, not solve my family’s problems.”
“It was a… worthy diversion.”
“And that’s why I’m thanking you.”
He sensed she would chase the subject until he relented, and so he did. His head bowed in resignation, and acknowledgment. “You are welcome.”
But Miranda lingered, arms folded over her chest as though waiting for him to say more. The distance between them tipped like a scale, and he got the impression that she wasn’t used to feeling indebted to anyone. With Shepard he imagined she could operate safely with the knowledge that she’d brought the Commander back from the dead, but with him she had no such leverage. He was a stranger who had bled for her sister’s freedom and she was grateful, but she was resentful.
It comforted him to consider such duality could exist in her, as well.
Thane allowed the silence, giving her time to count her chips and measure them before placing them on the scale. “As I understand it,” she began, “I’m not the only one on this ship keeping tabs on long-lost relatives.”
If she anticipated surprise he could only disappoint her. “I see you’ve been diligent in your surveillance.”
“With the company we keep I have to be.”
“It was not a judgment, merely an observation.” He’d never been under the impression that his time aboard this vessel was his own, in fact he was quite confident that for every time he’d caught a camera’s lens blinking at him there were at least two more occasions he never noticed its stare.
Seeing no reason to retread covered ground with her, he pushed himself out from the desk, aiming his chair towards her. “What have you learned so far?”
“You have a son— Kolyat, and from the sounds of it he’s taken up the family trade.” Her gaze lowered, dark lashes resting on porcelain cheeks. “How long has it been since you last saw him?”
“He was still a child,” Thane said, “I… abandoned him, left him for family to raise. My instincts as an assassin had more practise than my instincts as a father.”
“I know the feeling. I’ve had a sister for almost twenty years, but I never felt like one myself until today.”
“You became an older sister the day you gave up everything for her safety.” There was much about Miranda to be admired: she had breathed life into a corpse, helped pull together a team ready to face the end of the universe from whispers and rumours, but he had no choice but to honour that decision above the rest. It was a choice he should have made years ago, after they committed his wife’s body to the sea, but he had chosen the easier path. The path of violence.
Now he lived every moment in fear that it was too late to rectify that mistake.
“It wasn’t as selfless as you describe it. I knew what my father had in store for her because I’d suffered it myself, it was only a question of whether I’d leave with her or without but…” She breathed, it hitched on her nerves. “Thank you, anyway.”
He gestured towards her with his head, and a silence descended between them, settling like mist between two mountain peaks. Thane was content with the silence. Words offered distraction as often as solace, and Miranda’s remark served to remind him how much work had yet to be done. His life was ending, be it by the Collector’s hands or time’s cruel grip. As they spoke, Kolyat was drawing plans, gathering intel, sizing up his arsenal, and though Thane lived his life at Shepard’s pace, he wanted to hit the ground running when they reached the Citadel’s docks.
Miranda seemed to sense that anticipation in him. Her hand made a fist on the table and she said, “I can see what intelligence I can contribute, although I imagine you’ve built quite the network of contacts over the years.”
“It is quite formidable, yes, but I would not turn aside help from anyone, least of all yours.”
Her lips twitched into a smile, recognising the words as a permutation of her own. “I’ll see what I can do.” Miranda’s knuckles rapped once on the table, a punctuation to mark their conversation’s conclusion. He watched as she withdrew from his side, her gait long and fluid as she made for the door. The exit yawned widely, and she hovered in its precipice a moment before she reached for a button that forced the door closed.
“When you see him again,” she began, “will you speak to him?”
Thane thought of his vision, of his and Kolyat’s smiling faces where Miranda’s and Oriana’s shone. It wasn’t like the pictures in his memory, their vision clear and crisp, like he still lived and breathed in a moment that otherwise lay buried in the shores of the past. No, the edges swam with sweet nostalgia, the memory of Kolyat’s round, youthful face eclipsing the grown man he had become in the years since he’d left.
If he allowed the harsh light of reality to touch the frame, the smile turned cold. It would take divine intervention to repair the bond he had broken with his son.
“I haven’t yet decided,” was the answer he settled on.
“Hm.” The little sound Miranda made in her throat was discerning, but she didn’t do him the dishonour of stripping his every fear bare. “You ought to. If nothing else, he deserves to hear he still has a father that loves him.”
His lungs tightened against his ribs, a pang of pity dropped in his chest. He was certain Miranda would resent it were she to know. “I will consider it, certainly. Thank you, Ms. Lawson, for your consideration.”
“Don’t thank me until he’s safe.” Her hand reached for the door operator, then hesitated, just once more. “Oh, and one more thing. Say a prayer for your son, for me.”
Thane nodded, hand lifting off the back of his chair to once again face the electric blue engines, cupping his hands together in a display of reverence for the gods that had followed him beyond the white sands of his homeworld.
“Arashu, mother to us all, shield my son from those who would do him harm in this time of trouble. Lord Amonkira, clear our eyes and sharpen our wits. Kalahira…” He swallowed, and breathed. It came easier with their names in his lungs. “Kalahira, I ask your tides to carry me to Kolyat’s side one last time before I embark across the sea. I ask only for the chance to call to him by the name his mother gave him.”
The doors closed behind her, but in her absence, he was not alone.

What would you say are the biggest mistakes Mass Effect 3 made?
Okay this is going to be a long one, but these would be the biggest mistakes ME3 ever made in my opinion
Choosing Cerberus over The Reapers. The thing that annoyed me most about ME3 is the fact that Harbinger is not the main threat. The Illusive Man is. Harbinger has been built up as the big bad since ME2. "YOU HAVE FAILED. WE WILL FIND ANOTHER WAY." He says as he discards the Collectors. Then his speech to Shepard as the base blows up. "Human, you've changed nothing. Your species has the attention of those infinitely your greater. That which you know as Reapers are your salvation through destruction. You will surrender your potential against the growing void. We return, and you will rise. We are the harbinger of your perfection. We will bring your species into harmony with our own. Your species will be raised to a new existence. We are the beginning, you will be the end. Prepare for our domination. Prepare for our coming." Then in Arrival, he came pretty damn close to unleashing quick subjugation and harvest upon an unprepared galaxy. Upon Shepard foiling his plans. "Shepard. You have become an annoyance. You fight against inevitability. Dust struggling against cosmic winds. This seems a victory to you. A star system sacrificed. But even now, your greatest civilizations are doomed to fall. Your leaders will beg to serve us. Know this as you die in vain: Your time will come. Your species will fall. Prepare yourselves for the Arrival." The perfect final villain right? Unfortunately, Cerberus was more focused on than The Reapers. My problem with Cerberus and no Harbinger is Too many Cerberus, too few Reaper forces in plot. We fight Cerberus more often than the reapers. Hardly any boss fight and the one with Reaper Destroyer on Rannoch was more an interactive movie than fight. During the Horizon mission in Mass Effect 2, Harbinger was solidified as the Big Bad. It was menacing and ominous, with just the right amount of annoying. It taunted us throughout the game, telling us how insignificant we were, and how our actions were pointless. It was willing to posses drones through the Collector General to fight us personally, and when we killed the host, it tossed them aside. Harbinger even gave the typical “You haven’t seen the last of me!” villain rant. It made any fire fight frustrating, and that made me want to kill it even more; I hated Harbinger. Many games fail to do that. Harbinger was an enemy which I looked forward to defeating. I had the desire to annihilate. In Mass Effect 3, I got a codex entry and a cameo. Harbinger just swoops in at the last second and blows my friends and I to hell(and lets the Normandy save them), then flies off. Personally, I would have loved to hear Harbinger’s menacing monologue, it drove me on. I would have felt a deeper motivation to take the fight back to Earth if it told me how much destruction the Reapers were causing, how many lives were lost. I felt cheated when I got to the final mission, only to suddenly realize it was largely absent from the game. Harbinger has been replaced. Replaced by the Illusive Man and Kai Leng. The former is an old acquaintance, albeit one now controlled by the Reapers. The latter is a space ninja from a terrible book. What would've been amazing is if Harbinger IS the Catalyst. Harbinger taunts and haunts Shepard throughout the game He uses the memory of that child to haunt Shepard as a symbol of humanity lost. After Shepard activates the Crucible. Harbinger appears. He explains to why and how The Reapers were made. the AI Leviathan created to solve the equation is Harbinger all along, Harbinger manipulated The Leviathan into giving it Reaper form and birth at first it did what it commanded and what they asked of it was to look at the dark energy building up which back then was only an anomaly that Leviathan was concerned with but then the first harvest began and Harbinger and The Reapers were born. Funny enough, Leviathan reminds me so much of FMA:Brotherhood. The Intelligence tricked Leviathan to create the Reaper is very similar to how the Dwarf in the flask became Father. So what I think should have happened is it would've been revealed that Harbinger is the AI that convinced the Leviathan that harvest was the only way to survive and justifies the harvests not because organics and synthetics can't coexist, but because of the dark matter crisis. Throughout the game we would have more confrontations with Harbinger. Have him "ASSUME CONTROL" during fights. Give us a voiced confrontation between Shepard and Harbinger. Make it clear that Harbinger chose The Illusive Man and convinced him of together they could uplift and empower humanity over the lesser races. The Illusive Man is to Harbinger, as what Saren was for Soverign. Then the Crucible will grant us the choice to Destroy or Control The Reapers or Harvest this cycle to survive the Dark Matter crisis. You could either. Destroy Harbinger and The Reapers, while the united races would discover a way to stop the dark matter problem. Give in to Harbinger to harvest humanity to save the galaxy. Control The Reapers to stop the harvesting and to work together to stop the dark matter crisis.
Choosing to have a smaller crew than ME2 and focusing solely on the ME1 characters and screwing over or ignoring the ME2 crew, especially romancing Jack, Miranda and Thane. If it were up to me, this is what my ideal ME3 line up would be Ashley/Kaidan EDI Garrus Liara Tali Javik Jack Miranda Thane(EA forgot about him and simply chose to kill him off, I think Thane could’ve rejoined the crew and even had a mission where we find a cure for Thane and Kolyat) Grunt Mordin(you'll see how later) Legion(You'll see later) Balak or any Batarian Squadmember. Ideally it would be someone who survived the Bahak system or even a Batarian freedom fighter who puts his people’s survival over the pride and prejudices of the Hegemony. His sole goal is to liberate Khar'shan and save his people. But for a more memorable person, Balak would be the squad member. I would make killing Balak not an option. The last high ranking officer in the Hegemony. Instead of causing deaths on the Citadel, he seeks Shepard out. It’s an enemy of my enemy is my friend. Over time, Balak would show remorse for his past actions as a terrorist and for the Hegemony’s past. Shepard and Balak learns to overcome their differences and see each other as friend and works together to destroy the Reapers. We would get a Priority Khar’shan where we could liberate the planet and the Batarians would be in a fighting force.
Keeping James alive. I like James, but he added absolutely nothing to the game. We already had an Alliance character. Ashley Williams/Kaidan Alenko. James should have been the Jenkins/Wilson of the game. He should have died in the crash to take out Eva and Ashley/Kaidan should have been with us from beginning to end. James is a character we barely know. We’ve waited a long ass time to see Ashley/Kaidan and it was downright disappointing that neither Ashley nor Kaidan did not get to interact with Garrus on Priority Palaven and Wrex during Priority S’Urkesh.
Mirandafying Ashley Williams. Mirandafying Ashley Williams for Mass Effect 3 was shallow and unnecessary. Wearing loose and long hair and skimpy clothing? Ashley Williams is a by the books soldier. She would not look like this. She would not grow her hair or let it down like this. I mean, it’s not that they changed her face so much, but they just tried too hard with the makeup, hair and outfit. Ashley didn’t need to be model-sexy and run around in heels and showing cleavage. She was already sexy as hell in her own way. All they needed to do was give her the Alliance Crewmen outfit as her casual look and the Phoenix Armor and the current Alliance type armor she was given in ME3, as well as a unique Spectre armor. It's not just the shallow Mirandafying. It's the fact that Ashley has little to no interactions. Ashley barely has any interactions in the game. Compared to Kaidan, Ashley is not interactable. I don't like that Ashley barely has any interactions and just feels...hollow. Ashley should have crew moments with Joker, Adams, Ashley at the monument mourning those who died with the original Normandy, Liara, Tali and Garrus. Was it so much to ask for simple interactions? And really, Ashley in the first game had a personality, Ashley in ME3 feels hollow.
Choosing Diana Allers over Emily Wong and Khalisah al-Jilani. Emily and Khalisah are two reporters we actually know and respect. They earned their place on the Normandy. Emily reported on crime and traffic controllers. Khalisah gave us hard hitting questions and actually cared about reporting on what the fuck was going on in the galaxy. They earned their place on the Normandy as far as I'm concerned. Compare that to Diana Allers. What has Diana Allers done to deserve a spot on the Normandy? Nothing. They created the Battlespace to make her seem like a hip and cool Alliance News Correspondent. Allers looked, weird and she just comes off as annoying and she's a waste of space on the Normandy when we could've had a whole new or returning squad member. God, I WISH Javik could throw her out the fucking airlock. You had TWO perfectly great reporter characters and you did jackshit for any of them. Just so you could have an excuse to hire Jessica Chobot.
Not letting us see Tali's face on Rannoch. Legendary Edition fixed the mistake by finally showing us Tali's face, but it's still exclusive to Shali romancers. What should have happened was we see Tali's face when she unmasks on Rannoch. If we don't romance her, she unmasks and gives us a smile. If we romance her we see her face and kiss her. Something simple like that. It would've been great to see
Not having the ME2 squad members join in on the Citadel DLC. I mean for fuck's sake, it's like they want us to know "fuck you, ME1 squadmembers only" Again, why? Why wasn’t Jack, Miranda, Grunt, Samara, Jacob, Zaeed and Kasumi not added? If we romanced Jack or Miranda, why didn't they come to save us when we were being hunted? Why not REALLY making it feel like Team Hammerhead by actually adding the ME2 Squad members to the Citadel DLC before the party? There was no reason why you couldn't include the ME2 squad members in the Citadel DLC
Making Cerberus the villains instead of uneasy allies, when The Batarians were the perfect allies for The Reapers. This might just be me but I think Cerberus should have been on our side in ME3 and The Batarians should have been fighting for The Reapers. Makes sense Cerberus has just been a rouge organization doing what the job no matter what the cost(even if the cost is atrocities) and instead of indoctrinating themselves they could of studied it to make themselves immune to indoctrination and The Illusive Man's goal was to use any means necessary in order to destroy The Reapers. I also like the idea that you know you can't trust him, but he does get results. The Council and The Alliance are desperate, so they accept a partnership with Cerberus. The Batarians have always held a grudge against The Alliance, The Council and would have wanted revenge for Bahak/ Viper Nebula. The fact that there are no consequences for what we had to do in Arrival from The Batarians just doesn't make any sense and you'd think this would give The Batarians the motive to turn to The Reapers. Hell in the Terra Nova DLC in Mass Effect 1 it seemed to me that Balak was already indoctrinated and Balak’s revelation of the “Batarian rebellion” makes it seem like they would be the perfect tools for The Reapers. Balak will be the new Saren figure. If you killed Balak, then The Reapers would just bring him back. The first act of war for the Batarians was the destruction of the Viper Nebula, so their retaliation was killing Udina. Prior to the Reaper invasion of Earth, Udina would go to Omega to make peace talks with Aria. The Batarians attack and gain control of Omega, Aria is ousted(but saved by General Petrovsky) and Udina is executed live for the galaxy to see. Because of Udina's execution and Anderson leading the resistance on Earth. The Illusive Man is now the Human Councilor. Miranda and Kai Leng would be squad members. Depending on if you gave TIM the Collector Base or destroyed it, he will either keep you in the dark or help you at every turn. Just think of the Cerberus War Assets Cerberus Scientists General Oleg Petrovsky Collector Base Cerberus Fighters Cerberus Phantoms Cerberus Engineers Project Phoenix We would get a big mission to deal with the Batarians, Priority:Khar'shan. If you do not deal with the Batarians, there will be major casualties. However half of the Batarian forces are not indoctrinated and just want to end the mistakes of their government and live. Balak wants to kill the rebellion of his people. Ironic. Somehow Balak has placed enough bombs on the planet to destroy everyone who is resisting Reaper indoctrination. We can either. Talk Balak out of it. Telling him to resist and fight for your people(which WOULD gain Balak as an ally) or talk Balak into killing himself. Or the true Renegade option is to kill Balak and order a strike that wipes out the Batarian forces, but sacrificing the Batarian Rebellion. By the time we get to Priority Earth everyone is on the same page and united against the true threat, The Reapers. And it is Harbinger who is the final boss
Not having Maelon be there with Mordin in ME3. This isn't really a problem, but I had a thought. If we spared Maelon and kept Maelon's data for the cure. Maelon should have been on board to help Mordin with the cure. If we warn Mordin and Maelon about the sabotage, then Maelon would choose to sacrifice himself to save Mordin. And after that, Mordin would choose to join Shepard's crew.
Legion's "death" is pointless. He....is software. He could easily copy and paste The Reaper code without sacrificing himself in the same manner when he was broadcasting the Reaper signal to all Geth. Or he could've disseminated himself after he made a copy and transfer that copy over to his platform. I just get the feeling that they didn't want to keep Mordin, Thane or Legion alive....for reasons.

Who kisses who first, Thane or Steve?
Oh my god I could have sworn I answered this the day I got it but apparently I saved it to my drafts and just completely forgot?! I am SO sorry! Reading it back I can see why I drafted it, it's my usual rambly thoughts all over the place answer that I probably wanted to make it make more sense... and I still haven't made it any clearer but i'm hoping any answer is better than none. Sorry for the delay nonny: I think Thane and Steve would have lots of long deep heart to heart conversations and a lot of inching closer, closer, hands brushing, suggestive tones, lingering looks. Like I think most likely the first kiss wouldn't come out of nowhere is what i'm saying, but have had some obvious build up to it with them both showing signs of wanting it, or to have even arranged a purposeful date with the expectations it might well end with a kiss. (That said! The ol' classic post mission I-just-saw-you-nearly-die-in battle-and -I -must -snog -the- living -daylights- out -of -you- this second is still a gold standard for a reason and could totally work for them, perhaps pilot steve gets everyone safely off planet, sets a flight course, climbs into the back of the shuttle and smooches Thane silly, for example. Hmm, but he's a professional, so maybe he lets everyone clamber off the shuttle and then grabs Thane, pulls him back in, a brief eye linger, and they move move in and are kissing like their lives depend on it. hnnn.) In the game canon Shrios relationship, Shepard is the one to kind of initiate a more intimate romantic relationship by stating their want for that, then later telling Thane to be alive with them, but that's also with a Thane who is still dealing with only recently awakening from battle sleep, having just found kolyat in quite a state, and is dying of keprals. So a more healed, living to live, more established 'awake' Thane might be more bold than we've previously seen in intiating things compared with that time. Steve I believe would be unwilling to inititate romance at the start of ME3, recognising he's not ready yet. But after the memorial scene (him placing his husbands picture in the refugee camp I mean) and spending a bit of time finding himself again (plane watching, enjoying some fun driving sessions, having lots of chats with Thane and crewmembers), I can see him being the brave, bold, "I want you it'd be great if you wanted me too lets kiss about it" type. Steve I feel would take the initiative to look up drell customs and would offer Thane a frill to cheek caress (in drell would be frill to frill), a nice and loud 'I am very, very interested in being more intimate with you' even if he can't subvocalise it (I headcanon that with drell a lot of intent is communicated with subvocals, a mix of emotional feelings along with questioning tones as a form of asking for more intimacy). So you could even say that's their first 'kiss' in a way, and it would take Steve's research to do that, Thane wouldn't necessarily expect a human to understand the gesture. Perhaps Thane would be so struck by how thoughtful and romantic Steve is by offering that, Thane would be like 'oh i'm kissing the daylights out of this amazing human right now'. Bonus points if he does it so imuplisvely he doesn't stop to think about his venom at first, he didn't have time to stop and remember that, he was so caught up in the moment. (Those eidetic memories take purposeful application I reckon, they can still get caught off guard by impulisveness sometimes). Well that's all quite rambly, as you can see, I don't have any solid headcanons for this and enjoy thinking about a few different scenarios. They both have the potential to be the bold intiators, but the most likely answer is somewhere in between, a growing intimacy between them that naturally leads to an eager kiss.

For the character asks: Joker, Ashley, Kasumi!
First impression
Joker: Oh hey it's Seth Green!
Ashley: I too would want fantastic pink and white armor
Kasumi: So I first learned that Kasumi was a thing so when second hand embarrassment drove me to restart my playthrough of Mass Effect after making out with Liara in front of Garrus who I was planning to romance I went ahead and tracked down the DLC for her which was still on the bioware site at the time and it was the best decision.
Impression now
Joker: Oh hey it's Shepard's buddy Seth Green Joker
Ashley: I would die for Miss Ashley Williams
Kasumi: I am so glad people are experiencing Kasumi for the first time with MELE she is absolutely delightful and I wish she hadn't been dlc to begin with.
Favorite moment
Joker: The oh shit moment when the Collectors attack the Normandy and the bigger OH SHIT MOMENT WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING HIM!
Ashley Williams: Her telling off Terra Firma if you bring her with you onto the Citadel after Virmire. Also just her dialogue in ME1 is my favorite because it gives you a lot of room to roleplay your Shepard.
Kasumi: Just the moment she goes after Hock's ship. It's so good!
Idea for a story
Joker: I just want to see a fic where EDI instead of being like "I do not need clothes" because fanservice is instead really into clothes because she wants to experience that aspect of organic existence and just has super weird fashion (wearing 10 different broaches, sweater over dresses, novelty sunglasses etc) and Joker is just really enamored
Ashley Williams: So in my long fic, Liara tells Ashley that she gave Shepard's body to Cerberus which changes a whole lot and it's been really fun to play with.
Kasumi: @spookyvalentine 's Mercy Shepard met Kasumi when they were younger and gosh if that doesn't make me think about how if Kasumi had maybe intercepted Artemis before she enlisted somehow and gave her another way to earn the money to keep her family's land, they could have been unstoppable.
Unpopular opinion
Joker: Not sure if I have one I can think of. I mean I think he should have been romanceable that popular round the fandom circles I travel in. Also he deserved to have a unique character model and not be shredded when he has brittle bone disease.
Ashley: Apparently that I like her I guess 8/
Kasumi: I am not big on her writing at the party in Citadel DLC for the party section.
Favorite relationship
Joker: Shepard and Joker have a great dynamic that develops throughout the games and of course as a resident ace robot fucker, i love EDI/Joker
Ashley: Shepard and Ashley have a fascinating dynamic to explore other romances I am interested in for Ashley are Ashley/Garrus, Ashley/Samantha, Ashley/Miranda, and Ashley/Liara. This marine can fit so many ships in her
Kasumi: I would love to see more Tali and Kasumi stuff I like to think they hung out. Also Thane and Kasumi bonding over meeting in the vents.
Favorite headcanon
Joker: I like to think Joker and my Shepard were friends before ME1 started because Shepard never treated him with kids gloves because of his brittle bone disease and he never treated her different just because she's Shepard.
Ashley: I like to think Ashley and Thane became friends when they were both staying in Huerta and Thane and Kolyat invite Ashley's sister, Sara, to stay with them since space is very limited on the Citadel.
Kasumi: Rolan Quarn and Kasumi are introduced by Shepard and become fast friends/partners in crime maybe more i haven't decided.

nightmares turn to dreams
for @flaine1996 as part of the @masseffectholidaycheer
Part 2 of 2: after (fic) [part 2: before (music)]
aka Thane & Kaidan during ME3, and how they’ve dealt with their lives after they met Shepard (background F!Shenko) because how you do a thing matters.
*
Hospitals are too damned bright.
This one's at least got big picture windows, so it's not all that fake white sterility.
If Kaidan thinks about it too much it makes him feel worse, though, because he's inside a space station. It's not real sunlight, it's not real fresh air, and yet it fools him for a moment every morning when he first looks "outside", and wants to crack the window to let some of that in.
But the outside's not much different than the inside, even with all the cultivated plants and water out there. (There are plants and water in here, after all. They'd wheeled him to the atrium as soon as he could manage sitting up, and they let him walk himself there now that he's a bit more mobile.)
He misses the wind off the seashore, the tang of real pine as the air starts turning cold, the way frost makes the inside of his nose tickle. (It'd be a terrible idea, of course, sitting outside in a Canadian autumn in the shape he's in, but he wants it, beyond rhyme or reason or logic.)
Or maybe he wants it to be summer, sitting on a porch drinking a cold beer.
Nothing quite like a cold beer on a hot day, his grandmother had told him once, back when he'd been granted his first spare sip of his father's drink, and almost spat it out again at how dank and bitter it had tasted. She'd had a quirk of a smile on her face, and the rest of the adults had barely smothered their laughter at his expression. Though you might not agree with me on that one just yet.
Or ever, his mother had answered, shaking her head over her sparkling water. She never did drink beer, and seldom used wine for anything other than cooking, either. Some of us still don't.
"You still with me?"
Kaidan blinks, makes himself focus on Tiana, his physical therapist. "Sorry," he answers, his voice rough in his too dry throat. He reaches out a hand, and she slips a water bottle in it before he can even ask. He drinks, tries not to think too much about how different the tepid liquid is from the beer in his memory.
Tiana shakes her head when he passed the bottle back, a smile clear in the flare of her mandibles. "No apologies necessary. We're almost done."
Kaidan sighs out a breath in relief, ignores the ache in his thighs and back, and makes himself do one more rep, than another.
"There we go," Tiana sighs with him as he finishes. "Time to cool down."
Kaidan nods, and doesn't bother trying to speak again as they go through the familiar routine. Sweat is slick on his skin, and he hates how exhausted he is, hates the dull throb from the neutral amp they'd put in to make sure his biotics didn't flare during his recovery.
SOP for head wounds; he knows that, but that doesn't mean he likes it.
He never thought he'd miss that sharp-sweet pressure from his L2 implants, that constant background he'd forced himself to accept over the years, but now that it's temporarily suppressed he doesn't quite feel like himself, almost as off-kilter from the change in the static between his ears as from relearning the shape and stretch of his body.
He wonders, a little, how much worse it must have been for Shepard, to wake up with everything different around her, body and mind and galaxy...
He shakes his head, and makes himself focus on the here and now.
He's got it so much better than she did, he doesn't have anything to complain about, not really.
He's not isolated, he's got messages from his folks waiting for his reply, even a quick note from Anderson in his inbox. He's got a tech analysis to go over from Tali, who asked for a second opinion, and a rant from Garrus about their current REV that ends with a truly bewildered how the fuck does this damn thing make me miss the Mako?
Nothing from Shepard, but he understands that, he does. They need more than blank words on a screen. She'd come to visit him, he knew that, but he'd been too far gone, not yet awake, and he wishes...
He just has to wait.
He's getting better, even if it's at a frustratingly slow pace...
Unlike his standing dinner engagement. Krios is never going to get better.
He and Thane eat together most days.
They don't ever talk about Shepard, the one thing that they have in common, the one thing that brought them together...
It's nice, actually, to talk to someone who didn't know him before, who has no expectations, no preconceptions. Who goes still whenever Kaidan does, whenever one of them thinks of something from their past that's too heavy to let slip away quickly.
Only tonight, Thane doesn't go silent, as if he can tell that Kaidan's worries are closer to the surface than usual.
"She keeps a picture of you."
Kaidan blinks, his fork hovering somewhere between his plate and his mouth.
"In her quarters, on her desk." Thane blinks, more slowly than usual, the movement of his eyelids easy to follow. He exhales, heavy and rasping. "A reminder, I think, not just of why she fights, but how she chooses to do so."
Kaidan closes his eyes, puts his fork down with a soft tunk. It aches, twisting and bitter, somewhere in his chest where his heart's supposed to be.
He'd failed to be there for her, and yet she acted like he had been, and he wasn't sure he'd ever forgive himself...
Thane scoffs in the back of his throat, the noise softer and deeper than one Kaidan would make, caught in the dregs of his illness, in the shape of his mouth and tongue. "I do not say that to make you feel worse, Alenko."
Kaidan manages half a smile, opens his eyes. "But I'm good at feeling guilty, Krios, what else should I do?"
Thane rolls his eyes, his expression soft. "Not that."
"You any good at taking your own advice?"
"I have made my peace—"
Kaidan scoffs that time, louder and sharper. "No, you haven't. Settling into dying isn't the same thing as accepting how you lived."
Thane is truly still this time, his hands pressing down on the table hard enough that Kaidan can see the shape of the seam through the thick joint in his middle finger.
"There are things I've done..." Thane trails off.
"I killed my first man when I was a teenager." Kaidan shrugs as Thane tilts his head, clearly listening, even as he doesn't quite lift his head enough to meet Kaidan's gaze. "And sure, it was provoked out of me, was mostly a protective instinct, and I'm not sure there was a way to have stopped it, not with everything else that was happening..." He trails off this time, swallows. He knows Thane is waiting for him to finish, recognizes that he's not trying to stop, that he just has to line up the words properly. "But for just a moment I was glad I'd stopped him, proud of what I was capable of doing to another person, and no matter how horrified I was a moment later, I will never again not know that about myself."
Thane nods, slow and steady and understanding. Kaidan had thought he'd understand. Not a lot of people would. "And then what did you do, once you learned yourself?"
Kaidan huffs out something that's not a laugh. "I got lost for awhile."
"Perhaps I should let myself get lost." Thane's voice is thick, and a little damp, and Kaidan can't quite tease out the emotion from his illness.
I don't think you have the time. But Kaidan knows not to say that. Doesn’t even want to, really. Thane doesn’t need the time, after all, not like Kaidan had, all those years ago.
"I don't know, I think that's hard to do when you've found yourself again, already." Kaidan lets himself smile; it's not entirely happy, but it's there, and he sees the tension in Thane's shoulders ease at the sight of it. "You've got Kolyat, and your memories. And the Normandy."
"We both have Shepard."
Kaidan nods. He knows he does, knows he will, when he can stand on his own, when she comes back. It might not be what it was, nothing's ever exactly what it was, but they'll still have... something. They'll make it enough, he's sure of it. "We'll always have Shepard. And she'll always have us."
"Always?" Thane doesn't have an eyebrow to raise, but the expression's familiar nonetheless, sardonic but not as heavy as he was a moment ago. Thane doesn't have much time left.
“How she chooses to fight, remember?” How you live matters, even when you're not around to see the consequences. Kaidan knows he'll never forget Thane Krios, and the company he had during this odd oasis in his life. Knows Shepard never forgets any of her friends. Kaidan's smile is a bit easier this time, and it widens even further when he sees Thane smile back, small but sincere. Thane understands. "So yeah. Always."
