I don't agree with Cedric dealing with people talking ill will about Sofia immediately with beam blast because that's like Winifred, who would support Cedric no matter how evil his goals were and would allow him to take over the kingdom, and Cedric would never just shoot willy nilly without finding out about the situation. It just makes Roland look better because he would look at the situation first and then ask Cedric to use beam blast if said person was genuinely talking ill will and had no intent to change their behavior.

Can we talk about how Cedric and Sofia had more Father/Daughter moments in one season than Roland and Sofia did in the whole show? And most of those moments came from the same 2-3 episodes when the plot was literally BASED around them.

Like wow- he helped her with an obstacle course, he's such a great dad.

It is never revealed in the show how long it was between Roland and Miranda first meeting and their marriage to each other. So how long do you think it was? Am I the only person who thinks that Roland and Miranda could've Gone about their wedding and telling their kid/s about their new relationship a bit better.

Sofia: has never had a proper father figure because her birth father died when she was young, implied to having been able to take of herself since a young age, didn't know what her own room would look like, slept on her window sill for the first night because she was uncomfortable with a big bed, was surprised with a ball just for her but given no prior preparation (didn't know how to dance) and hadn't even met Roland, Amber, and James until she arrived at the palace, forced to change school's to fit in with her new royal status, isn't allowed to do things she liked to do without being ridiculed

Amber and James: their mother died from childbirth, their father spoiled them because he couldn't spend that much time with them because he's a king, didn't tell them that he was now in a relationship with someone, when they do find out they're probably also told that they were going to be living with two villagers who they must now consider family. It's unlikely that Amber took to these surprises well because of the way she reacted to Sofia, and James seemed more okay with it but I don't think he was entirely comfortable with the fact that he was being given a new mother and sister out of the blue.

Also I understand why they wouldn't tell other people about their relationship because of things like classism and accusing Miranda of being a gold digger. Also being high profile by being a noble/royal or having connections to royalty/nobility would be making it extremely likely to having painted a large "Hey I'm close with this high profile person___, who is extremely wealthy and well connected. Come get me" target on their back, but my point stands that they could've at least told their kids.

Also did Roland even tell his mother or sister or were they just as surprised?

Cannom (Headcanon Rough Draft)

Roland knocks on Cedric's door with his foot. He calls out to Cedric, "Cedric, come quick!"

Cedric opens the door in a panic from Roland's tone of voice; had something happened?

Cedric looks to see Roland holding a baby James in his arms.

Roland had the most sweetest of smiles, "Cedric, you will not believe what James just said!"

Cedric was caught off guard from the shift from urgency to delight from him. And as if he didn't know anything about believing, but that was another story.

"What James said?-" Cedric now realized, "He's said his first words?!"

"Yes!! Isn't that amazing? Look look, watch this!" Roland held baby James up to his own face; James giggled at how goofy his father looked.

"Boom goes the.."

Baby James chimed in, waving his arms up, "Cannom!"

Roland let out a cheerful laugh, "That's right son, cannom!" Roland raised James up playfully in celebration of his first word: Cannom.

Cedric looked a bit confused. Was Roland also pronouncing it as 'Cannom?' "Your Majesty, I believe he pronounced cannon the wrong way."

"I know, but it's his first word after all."

"So, shouldn't you be saying it the correct way so he learns how to pronounce it correctly?"

"Oh, I didn't think about it that way. Thank you Cedric," Roland went back to his son, "That's right, it's a cannon. Boom goes the-"

"Cannom!" Both Roland and Baby James were laughing from their little moment together.

Cedric couldn't help but wish he had that kind of father.

Sofia the First Finale Analysis

First of all I loved it! It feels great to have finally finished the show. I started watching it when I was little and it was fun to wrap up this part of my childhood.

Secondly oh boy did a lot of things happen. I’m going to split my thoughts by character. I love that Miranda is such a good mother and actually thinks logically. Her heartfelt gift of the dress was very sweet and I’m kind of sad that it got replaced with the protector gear. I’m kind of hoping it just got teleported to her room. As for the logical part, Miranda is always out here speaking the truth that they really are just children they shouldn’t have to be the ones saving the kingdom. She’s also concerned about this whole protector thing with Sofia. The way Tilly delivered the line “Oh it’s a great honor, and only occasionally life threatening.” was gold. I’m fairly certain it did nothing to calm Miranda’s worries but it cracked me up.

I loved the way they wrapped up Cedric’s arc. He’s finally fully regained the trust and friendship of Roland. Not only that but people other than Sofia are acknowledging him as Cedric the Great. He’s earned the title that he wanted all along. Also the fact that he grabbed the amulet and just returned it too her with like no hesitation. He’s got what he wanted, he doesn’t even want the amulet anymore.

Sofia as the main character her arcs come to a close. She’s become both a fully realized protector, storekeeper and royal. I find it interesting that the other storykeeper had that prophecy he bestowed upon her. I was confused at first because after he said it she was able to get her allies back. Then of course the amulet happened and I realized that’s what he meant by facing the evil alone. I’m happy that she’s been so successful in all her endeavors but sometimes I worry about all the childhood she’s lost to these things. I mean both the Storykeeper and protectors acknowledged how YOUNG and successful she is.

James doesn’t have as much of a noticiable arc. He’s just fully realized who he wants to be and his purpose, and I’m proud of him for that. I love that he’s ready to charge into battle to defend his kingdom and more importantly his family

Ambers arc also did come to a nice completion too. She’s working to be the best queen and they also harkened back to the true sisters thing of the first episode. She loves her sister so much and was willing to cover for her all the time. Though I’m also very worried that Amber just experienced some serious trauma. Like imagine if they hadn’t been able to free Sofia from the Amulet. It was really looking like Amber might have blamed herself. She suggested that they trap Vor in the Amulet, and she was there and wasn’t able to stop Sofia from going in. It wouldn’t have been her fault but she would have felt that way.

I find it ironic that in Buttercup Amber, Roland tells Amber that she is spending too much time indoors and should join Sofia on the trip instead. Like, wow, whose fault do you think it is that your daughter doesn’t want to go outside!? Just based on his reaction to Sofia (who was raised in the village and has done this many times before) going on a similar trip, we can assume that he’s been at least this overprotective, if not more, with Amber (palace-raised, never done this before). I kinda feel bad for Amber, it must be jarring for her father’s attitude to change from “doing outdoor activities is dangerous for girls” to “why are you spending so much time cooped up in the palace? why don’t you go outside?”. I mean, good on Roland for changing his sexist attitudes, but that doesn’t mean that Amber needs to do outdoor activities now, and he certainly shouldn’t make her do something she’s not comfortable with (regardless of how she felt afterwards), especially since he’s very likely one of the reasons she’s like this in the first place.
