Adorable 1904 fairy tale cottage in Ephraim, Utah was reduced $40K to $359K and it's 3 homes for the price of one. Not surprisingly, it already has a pending sale. The cottage has 3bds, 3ba.
Tumblr media
Elegant French-looking living room is pretty spacious and has a great French stove. The fixture looks like it's a kerosine lamp that's been electrified.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sweet vintage kitchen. Look at the original stove, it's still connected to the wall. The sink looks original, too. It looks like all of the lights are kerosine. They must've all been converted from the originals.
Tumblr media
Cleaned up, with some decorative touches, this will be an elegant little house. The dining room is lovely.
Tumblr media
Bath #1 was modernized with a large shower but the sink was placed into an antique dry sink.
Tumblr media
Laundry room has cupboards under the stairs.
Tumblr media
Small staircase to the upper floor.
Tumblr media
And, here we are upstairs.
Tumblr media
Look at the cute little stove and vintage toilet. Interesting little closet, too.
Tumblr media
This home is deceivingly larger than it looks. It has a finished basement.
Tumblr media
There's a sitting room with a potbelly stove and original cupboards.
Tumblr media
Bedroom #2 is in the basement and looks like it may be the primary.
Tumblr media
This is another room that looks like it could be a bedroom, also, b/c it has a closet.
Tumblr media
Look at this property. Besides the cottage, there's a large garage with a studio apt. above it, plus a 1 bedroom cabin.
Tumblr media
Entrance to the studio apt. above the garage.
Tumblr media
Living room/bedroom combo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen is cute.
Tumblr media
Nice little shower room.
Tumblr media
And, this is the log cabin. Wow, all the homes need some work, but they will be too cute.
Tumblr media
I don't see any appliances in the kitchen but it's large enough.
Tumblr media
Bath with a small clawfoot tub.
Tumblr media
The bedroom upstairs.
Tumblr media
The property is .40 acre.

The following consists of spy x family movie: code white spoilers
My dear Yor...
what the fuck do you mean lip balm is 50% oil and that's why it's FLAMMABLE?! It's not THAT kind of oil!!!! What are you putting on your lips? Kerosin????
(I watched the movie with my brother yesterday and let me tell you, we had a blast. There was a lot of stuff going on in the movie and considering Endo had not been working on it himself, I can excuse some of the inaccuracies and the unnecessary plot lines. But the thing with the lip balm took the cake. It was hilarious. Since Spy x family is set in a fictional recreation of the German East West conflict and I am German, here is one thing about German culture you'd probably like to know: 1. If something is flammable, there will be a safety sign on the product. There are no safety signs on lip stick except maybe: not safe for under 3 y/o (cause they might put it in their mouth and choke on it)
I and my brother actually tested Yor's idea because we couldn't find anything about it online and I wanted to be sure. After all, cooking oil (meaning edible, yor!) can sometimes burn in a pan if you've had it too long on the stove. HOWEVER, it has to reach very high temperatures. (It was a very fun experiment, not gonna lie) Before a lip balm BURNS, it'll have to MELT first. Put a flame to your lip balm, lip stick, whatever, it'll melt. I tested it on the one lip stick I own and don't ever use because it doesn't suit me. Anyways... it's not that kind of flammable. )

"listen. listen. i love you. i love you very, very much." he cups her shoulders. she tries not to let anxiety make a hole in her stomache. "but i cannot and will not date your mother."
"what does that mean?"
"it means that when this happens, when you do this, you are behaving like a mini sabine. and sabine is a very good person, i'm sure, but you're not choosing anything for yourself. you're letting your mom choose for you, and you are a grown adult."
"but i--"
"didn't you want this?"
"it'll be easier," she tries.
"for who?" luka gets very expressive when he's passionate about something. it's in the way he moves his arms, swivels his shoulders, palms up and spread fingers, making gestures that she finds fascinating. "your mom, okay, sure. it's very easy to make sacrifices--"
"--'sacrifices'?" she huffs. "this isn't a sacrifice, come on, be reasonable--"
"i am being reasonable." he frowns harder. "this is a sacrifice. this is something you admitted to wanting since you were a child, and you're giving it up after a few months?"
"w-well--"
"is this-- what your mother said-- is that something you want?" oh, but he cuts her off before she's even opening her mouth, following it with: "why do i bother to ask? you've already convinced yourself you want this."
"what does it matter if i do?"
"you only want it because your mother wants it."
"why is that a bad thing?"
"because you can't see it; your mother is manipulating you. you are her little megaphone whenever you get into this trance of yours. anything she thinks and tells you, you're probably going to repeat back out of you."
she sags in her seat, arms curled up around her for warmth. "would it really be so bad if i met her in the middle?"
luka takes a long, long time to look back over to her gain. he's busy looking out into the distance, past the RV, past the little kerosine stove they have that is attempting to give them a little fire in this dry, desert night. "i wish you could see it. how happy you are when you exist. when you exist, not when you're being puppeteered by your mom, trying to make amends, trying to meet someone in the middle who doesn't let you do anything but suffocate. it's her way or you're left for a few days without her talking to you. that really scares you."
"don't psychoanalyze me, please."
"i'm not. i see it happen. i hate it. you cry so hard whenever it happens, and then five minutes later you've sucked it up and you're doing what she wants, because you love her. i don't blame you. she's your mother. how could i blame you for wanting to make your parents happy?" he rubs at his eyes. "but you're just a puppet on a string. when it really matters, you can't make your own decisions. i want to date you, marinette. not your mother."

Lujan's Little Store
Tumblr media
reduction linocut - K. Gum
A battered 63’ Ford truck sat parked on gravel, surrounded by a crowd of angry women. A tall, broad shouldered Haole* stood on the flatbed beside a mountain of pallets, each loaded with kerosine cook stoves, two per box.
Supertyphoon Pamela left many households desperate. Unable to afford both, they pleaded with him to sell a single unit, but he refused without explanation. Demanding twice the going price incited yet more outrage. A squad car quelled the mob. Nobody voiced surprise, for they knew too well the habits of Johnny Varner, owner of Lujan’s Little Store.
He wore ironed khaki knee-length shorts. Bleached T-shirt and socks radiated a dazzling, spotless white. Polished Navy issue shoes appeared forever new, without a scratch. This uniform never changed, the same outfit year after year. Enormous, calloused hands spoke of hard labor. A mule faced middle-aged man, his down-turned mouth resisted the faintest smile. Fumbling speech and awkward gestures puzzled patrons. Yellow ochre eyes avoided contact. An ungainly, hurried stride seemed to avoid something underfoot. You might dismiss Varner as nothing more than a hapless outcast of the islands. A visit to his store showed a more complex character, one you may never forget.
Fifty meters from Marine Drive, the storefront of weathered green wood siding made obvious the manager had no interest in appearances. The grimy window case displayed, in complete disorder, an array of random merchandise. Hinges of the ancient, decrepit door squealed, then tripped a loud bell. Inside, the sheer quantity and variety of items assaulted the senses. Piles of goods lined both sides of the floor, more hanging from walls and ceiling, not an inch wasted. Same, or similar things, didn’t appear together. A hammer over there, one here, and another over there.
Opposite the entryway stood Johnny behind a short counter fenced in by products of every description. A talking myna bird perched nearby. Judy, a longtime island resident, remembers the greeting, “wha’dyuwant,” in a belligerent voice, as though addressing an intruder. A squat, silent woman fetched your order. Browsing customers brought him out of the corner, standing too close for comfort with a sour face and a nastier “wha’dyuwant!”
The Ordot landfill enforced better discipline than Lujan’s Little Store. More compulsive hoarder than merchant, he begrudged every sale, serving up the same nastiness for all who entered regardless of gender or age. But most residents knew he’ll have those hard to find articles. Want a meat grinder? This small, cluttered shed sold both manual and electric. Don’t waste time looking elsewhere. I did.
Yet practical need alone can’t explain why islanders frequent the place. It could be a longing for an alternative to Kmart slick merchandizing practices that condition robotic consumers. His crude manners and the chaotic mess had a greater humanizing touch than all that chrome and glitter, even if we walked away annoyed.
*Caucasian. A sometimes pejorative term in Hawaii but not in the Marianas.
Note: When my family visited, Lujan’s was on the list along with the usual tourist attractions.
He called on our office to import batteries, sitting on his knees at my desk, chin resting on folded hands. In this odd position, we struggled to understand each other, one uneasy as the other.

Bought new pots for camping, I had some vintage aluminium pots, which are not broken or anything, still good, still lighter then the now common stainless steel pots.
But while I was checking what was on the market I looked up Titanium pots, and many have all kinds of fancy, totally unnecessary accessorises or attachments. But these two pots from MSR have not, just a two pots (1 and 1,5 L) a lid and a clamp tool to take them on and off the stove.
But they expensive..
but then google showed me a website that had a huge discount, so I got them anyway. they're 25% lighter then the aluminium pots I already own.
Anyway, I wanted to do a first boil at home before I use them out in the wild. And put them on top of my kitchen stove.
Which didn't work. Titanium and induction don't go well together. So pulled out the old Optimus 00, kerosine burning camping stove and pushed it to a roar.
And as it is fashionable to list how fast new camping burners can boil water. This ancient piece of brass, did 1 Litre in 7 minutes.
PS. Only wish MSR had a 2L model of this pot too, to make a three pot set.

More Tips from a Northerner on Staying Warm
Pick a room in your house in the interior. Try to pick a room with as few exterior walls as possible. Drape blankets, rugs, whatever you can get your hands on, on your walls to help insulate your own personal heat. Have everyone stay in that same room. Pets and plants too. This is also the room you bring any space heater into.
While your mattress(es) should be on the floor to give additional insulation, include rugs or even clothes covering your floor. The time for tidy is not when your survival is on the line.
KEEP. YOUR. TAPS. DRIPPING. Frozen pipes are no joke. Not only could you lose use of that water, but if those pipes explode, your house will get flooded. And that introduces an entirely new threat.
Stay Hydrated. If you have power/gas, place a large pot full of water on the stove. This will help humidify the room to avoid nose bleeds, as well as adding a warm, humid layer of air to the room. You’d be surprised how much artificial heat can dry out your air.
If you don’t have a space heater or you lose power and can no longer run it, hope is not lost. Take a baking sheet and place it somewhere where it’s heat won’t cause damage. Light a candle (small-med candle or a couple tealights) on the tray and place a metal or ceramic pot over the candle. Be sure to leave a light gap for air flow so the candle does not go out. Use your best judgement to make sure the flame isn’t making DIRECT contact with your pot. As it heats up, the heat will radiate out into the room and can last for hours. You can also put a heat safe container of water on top to make sure you keep the air from getting too dry.
While you want to stay hydrated, water is still a mixed blessing. If you or your clothes get wet, you need to make sure you get dry, FAST. This includes sweat. Your best bet is to change whatever layers have gotten wet, whether they are inside or outside.
DO. NOT. RUN. GAS. BASED. HEATERS. INDOORS. Insulating your house to keep the heat in also traps in the fumes. There are plenty of horror stories in the north of people who suffocated in their homes (usually in their sleep) because they ran a kerosine heater in the house. IT ISN’T WORTH IT.
Now I know, odds are, it will still be too cold to be comfortable but these tips will help make it survivable.

6 items you'll need in a long term power outage
Living in America in the 21st century means you probably have access to a good power grid.  Blackouts and busted transistors are rare, but they do happen.  That's why when the lights do go out, you see people running around panicking.
Don't be one of those people.  Plan and prepare for a power outage before it happens so you can turn it into something fun for the family, and not riddled with anxiety.
Here are 6 items you'll need in a long term power outage
1. Flashlights or Headlamps
Tumblr media
Obviously, if the power goes out you're going to need light. A good flashlight will have a zoom function so you can stand it up and use it to illuminate a room. Headlamps are good in situations where you need two hands.
2. Batteries
Tumblr media
Without power, batteries become more valuable than gold. Maybe not on the second or third day but by day 5, when people start running out of juice, they will be ready to trade for power. Consider getting rechargeable batteries, and multiple sizes. You will want a solar charger as well.
3. Portable Gas Stove
Tumblr media
Unless you can cook outside every day, you'll want a portable stove that can cook your meals. In the winter these can produce good heat as well. Kerosine bottles can be found on sale for as low as $1.
4. Power Inverter
Tumblr media
If you're trying to use electronics like a laptop, you'll quickly see how fast you run out of juice.  The power inverter lets you turn your car battery into a replenishable power source.
5. Solar Battery Banks
Tumblr media
A battery bank or charger will keep your devices charged up, even if it isn't very sunny. If you're waiting for loved ones to check in, the last thing you want is a dead battery when they try to call.
6. Kerosene Heater
Tumblr media
If you're in a colder climate, staying warm can be tough.  Cooking meals over an open flame helps, but depending where you live it might not be enough.  For warmer climates, you can try to make your own AC but buying one from Home Depot will set you back a few hundred and they take up a lot of juice.

『Day1239-2-257』 A camping equipment and also disaster kit. I made Coleman 413h stove burn with kerosine instead of white gas.

This dude asked me to help him cook Egusi soup and gave me 2k. Plus transportation. When I was about leaving to the Market, he added 1k and said I should cook stew too.. I got to the market and ended up spending 4k plus tfare. I used chicken and beef. Now, guy had stove. And I am used to gas already. So the cooking was really stressful. Next thing, guy came into the kitchen and started inspecting everything I bought. And asking the price. Down to Maggi. 'How much chicken? How much meat.? How much oil. How much groundnut oil.You didn't price this meat well? Is this two cups of Egusi? Looks kinda small. All these he said with a tone that suggested I probably was trying to cheat him. On top my stress and extra one thousand I added. Not like we are even that close like that or you're even paying me. I didn't say anything o. When I finished, I took plastic plates and packed the food inside. Both soup and stew. Put it inside nylon. Went to the room and gave him 3500 and went home with the food. The 500 extra was for his plates and kerosine and kitchen space I used. Dude sent me a text that I was a wicked girl and i lacked training and I don't have the patience to keep a man🤣🤣🤣 QUESTION. Was her action right or wrong? Answer me pls! Copied!!! https://www.instagram.com/p/Bysfd4PAKe5/?igshid=udrw659bhtat
