EJ bought her a plane ticket so she could be in the show she worked her ass off for, drove her home from the airport, asked how she was and boosted her self esteem, swooped in to be her exercise partner & swooped in again when the undercover mission went south and respected her when he thought he wasn’t what/who she wanted.

Ashlyn let her stay at her place so she wouldn’t have to move away, offered Gina a spot with her and Kourtney for their audition song and hyped her when she came up. She also supported her going after EJ because that was what made G happy.

Heck, even Nini basically said Gina was solid af in the moment they had together! Their friendship grew as well with equal support on all sides.

By contrast, has Ricky done anything for Gina just because he wanted to, out of the kindness of his heart, or anything like that? All I remember is Gina constantly running after him/trying to make a connection. They did connect in S1 due to their similar situations/natures but at the same time, the only scene I remember of Ricky doing anything for her was the car ride back to her house.

It just seems like she’s always making the first move with Ricky/chasing, but everyone else puts her first and reaches out/chases her instead.

Sorry for being so rambly today (and last night) I have thoughts so onto the blog they go

I feel like part of the joy of art is in community, like you create something and you get to talk about it and share it with the world. This year I lost touch with the friends who I would always talk about art with and I think that loss is heavily impacting my ability to create (and the enjoyment I get from it.) I miss having a new idea and getting to ramble about it excitedly. I miss texting people the sketches and the mock ups and the color palettes.

I got into art for me. I wouldn’t show anything I made to anyone for years. So I’m no stranger for creating for the target audience of myself. Still, I miss that sense of community. I love this blog and I absolutely adore the lovely comments you all leave on my art but sometimes it feels so one-sided on here. I post a piece, I receive a lovely tag back and that’s it. End of story. I spend hours and hours working on something and it kind of disappears into the void in a day or so.

Trying to put it into words, but I think I wish I could create art that starts a conversation. That inspires people to create their own things in response, or even just talk with me about process. I think the perfectionism has gotten out of hand lately because I feel like I’m missing something—which I attribute to the quality of the piece—but really what I’m missing is buddies to chat about art with. There is no level of being “good enough” that will serve as a substitute for a real community.

The nibblings were discussing what students would call me if I was a teacher yesterday and it reminded me. When I used to be a substitute I never bothered to introduce myself or write my name on the board, literally just never thought of it. One class I had a girl raise her hand and ask what my name was so I automatically gave her my first name and after a few seconds added my last. There was dead silence in the 8th grade classroom for a good 30 seconds to a minute before she burst out with "we can call you by your first name!?" I was like yeah sure. You would probably not believe how absolutely excited this made the students, I heard my name more times over that class period than I hear it in a year lol. The next school year I was at the high school and hear my name and turn around and it's the girl from that class and she yells Hi then turns to her friends see I told you I wasn't lying!

Yes, all of them, because in Sweden we call everyone by their first name. There was only one exception, but that was because we had three teachers named Lars (which only has one natural nickname) and he was the only one with a unique surname. If I was addressed by my surname in any context I'd probably blue screen.

I took a couple of courses in England back in the day and the amount of anxiety I had over not knowing how to address the teachers was insane haha (I ended up just not calling them anything, just raising my hand and going 'excuse me')

I think that people are venturing into like fanfic territory trying to make drama and angst out of a situation we know nothing about if they go down this way of thinking. She sees her dad. She knows he’s her dad. He’s posted when they’re together many times recently. They’re grown adults who are coparenting and can have discussions if this is a problem for him. But seeing how nothing has changed in the past 3.5 years since she’s been born, I don’t think he cares. And I think people who don’t have kids or even if they do, shouldn’t judge others for their choices when the child is clearly happy and healthy and living a good life. People can hate Kelly all they want but P is a child and they need to leave her out of all their arguments that have the sole purpose of saying her mother is bad.
