Whats your thoughts on Mami Tomoe in general? I dont like PMMM but Mami does interest me alot as a character concept: a veteran MG who took other, younger MGs under her wings to guide them; whom sees enough shits in her time that shes gone somewhat unstable but keep up a facade of cheerfulness to comfort her students. Im intending to create a character using this concept as well.

I wanted my character to have her Happy Ending - the rest of her younger teammates as well. I think it'd be rather ironic to base her on a dark MG while she belongs to a lighhearted Magical girl story. Shes still in a vague designing state, with a concept and some basic traits and backstory. I wanted to her to be a MG veteran who saw some serious shits during her younger days too, but with help from her mascot (who is not the bad guy in this story) and eventually the MGs whom shes teaching, shes healing from her past traumas and is on the road to a beautiful future.

I know there are other MGs from other shows that are good mentors for their team, but weirdly enough Mami was the first one who introduce me to this concept (PMMM was also the one to introduce me to the Maho Shojo gerne, but I dont like it so I evetually follow Pretty Cure instead, best choice ive ever made) so shes the one I pick to base my character on. Mostly for the ironic part.

I absolutely adore her. I even had a sideblog entirely dedicated to her back when this account got temporarily deleted, just to have any idea of how much I loved her. Heck, one of my self-inserts was inspired by her, too.

One of the many reasons why I love Mami could dial back to Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon's Kino Makoto/Sailor Jupiter. A strong yet sensitive girl who has lost her parents on a tragic accident and now craves the feeling of a family with the friends she makes.

Mami is indeed a fascinating character herself, and I think her death, while understandably haunting the narrative afterwards at least, was very disrespectful (she died in the span of ONE episode! Right after she debuted!) and the jokes that were relentlessly cracked by everyone and their mother for 10+ years are not funny at all.

Imagine if I were to crack jokes about Flapjack's death. You guys wouldn't like them, would you?

No, you guys wouldn't like them. It'd be cruel and done in bad taste.

Anyways, back to Mami...

She's the cool and experienced onee-san/senpai type of character, approachable and friendly; she's skilled and graceful, plus with an epic theme tune to boot. Of course, her calm and collected persona is just a mask that hides how terribly lonesome and scared she is. To quote Bebe in The Rebellion Story:

"Mami is a real crybaby. She gets lonely super-easy; I know, I know."

Homura's description is more in-depth, though:

"She would always put on a strong front and push herself too hard, despite having the softest heart of any of us."

This vulnerability of hers is more explored in Magia Record, though. She joins the Wings of Magius so she could help in finding a cause to save her friends from despairing and becoming Witches, as she feels guilty for dragging them into such a hostile world.

Except that the WoM's methods were very cultish, thus causing her to be brainwashed and used as a puppet, distance herself from the ones she was supposed to guide and protect, and when she'd be challenged by outsiders, she'd quickly lose her cool.

Turns out that no matter the timeline/universe, Tomoe Mami will always be the first one to crack at the revelation.

And I like that, because it makes her morally grey, which it's something quite rare in the Magical Girl genre. She wants to save her friends, but she has participated in dangerously unorthodox methods to achieve such an end.

Anyways, I've been rambling about Mami for too long, that I've forgotten your concept. Sorry! Your idea is amazing! My followers having galaxy-brained suggestions, as always!

Jason and Hunter and how similar they are

This rant is brought to you by that one person in the percy jackson group chat who discussed this with me.

Ok so both were raised from a young age/basically as long as they can remember in a military organization (the emperor's coven and the 12th legion).

Both have facial scars Jason's on his lip hunters is ... well moving on.

both were elevated to positions of power within their military organizations due to nepotism. Jason due to being a son of jupiter and hunter due to being a clone of beloses brother

both have unrealistic expectations put on them due to who their family is.

Both sacrificed themselves for their friends and then consequently died around a bodies of water.

Both were child soldiers.

both have been haunted by imagery of birds in their military organizations.

MY THE OWL HOUSE SEASON 3 CRITIC

Now that the Owl House is over (Oh God what I'm supposed to do with my life now...) I wanted to get out of my chest my personal opinions regarding this last season. No hard feelings or attacks on the writers or animators of this amazing show, they did their best and I'm not here to judge anyone! Thanks to Them: A mixed bag leaning toward the positive for me. The introduction was done spectacularly (A compilation of everyone's adjustments and development to their new normal) allowing us to focus on the present, no more to say there.

---The premise (the puzzle to the localization of the Titan's blood) although interesting at first sight, it starts to feel dull/uninteresting rather quickly (a compilation of silly, funny moments that takes more than 5 minutes) Looking back it just feels like they could have tried including something a little more... organic to the story [maybe instead of a random puzzle, in reality, they find Caleb's journal tainted with a little drop of Titan's blood, althrought damaged it gives them some clues as to where to find the original portal that brought Evelyn to the human realm, and have Vee use the scent of the Titan's blood to helps them search for it said portal] ---Vee was reduced to a glorified background character and they didn't even address anything related to her (cabin friends, her relationship with Camila, Luz, and Hunter) which is understandable considerating how much else they needed to address but a single piece of dialogue or conversation between Vee and Luz would have been appreciated. ---Luz and Camila's relationship was handled perfectly; is clear that some things happen between them during the time skip. Their relationship seems to have improved, and while there is some air of uncertainty ---Hunter's development is clear all the way to Jupiter, he is more at ease around everyone, and not ashamed of his hobbies and passions. He truly became his true self. This is why his possession although a little out of the blue was a great closure to both his character's development and the episode. (Flapjack's death was truly heartbreaking)

For the Future: ---Similarly, a mixed bag but leaning toward the negative. The introduction was everything everyone expected, a literal infant God going rampant across the world with nobody to stop them, a powerful and impactful intro that leaves us in wonder to what is to come next. (love it) ---Hunter bottling his emotions is perfectly fitting for his character; Is a habit he surely develop during his time as the Golden Guard, the best tool he had to keep himself grounded during missions and around Belos. So going back to said habit after losing his best friend at the hands of his abuser obviously push him to search for any way to keep himself together to confront Belos one last time. A greatly executed idea. ---The Collector was everything I expected (an innocent child with the power to break the world in half, completely unaware of the fragility of others, and ignorant to the ramifications of their actions) they simply wanted a friend, someone to call an equally that they could trust. ---Belos slow psychical and mental decay was the highest point of the episode for me. (together with Luz's palisman reveal) Short, direct, and gruesome until the end. The culmination of Belos's sins is the image of his brother, the cataclysm of everything that led him to this path of horrors. ---Now the thing that dragged this episode to the worst of the season for me is all the time they wasted at Hexide. Including Hexide wasn't the problem, actually, I welcome it, a place to rest and formulate a plan alongside all the survivors? perfect stop for what is to come next, but Bosha and Kikimora's involvement provides nothing to the overall plot beyond stalling time. [I was expecting Hunter to see throught Kiki's disguise and immediately take her down (he isn't in the mood to deal with her bullshit now of all times); and for Willow to put some common sense into Bosha (by instantly beating her in a short fight, perfect to showcase Willow's development). Shortly after Luz and the others gather everyone, realizes how well-guarded the way to the skull is and decides to explore the Demon realm in search of both survivors and resources to create a safe way to the skull. Basically, a journey with the purpose of both reuniting everyone Luz and her friends had met and addressing some of the unattended plots/characters that were left behind] ---Oh, and Stringbean is perfection incarnated and I love them so much.

Watching and Dreaming: (I kinda already wrote one for this so I'm taking some parts for this one) ---This one feels like the only one which succeeds in accomplishing everything it was meant to address and develop. The beginning(approximately 5 minutes) was paced decently, they even manage to cramp the Collector’s development surprisingly well in all of that and it works because the guy was never bad, just innocent and unaware of the bad things they had done, the little guy just needed a little push to the right direction. ---Raine's inclusion as a protagonist was definitely not an unwelcome addition. It was thanks to Belos's involvement that they manage to assure a proper and not out-of-the-blue inclusion and relevance to the overall plot without making their presence too oppressive or unnecessary. ---The Hexsquad and Camila really get sideline in this one! Like, they weren’t even relevant through the whole episode! Truth be told, they got more than enough development from the last episodes so I can understand why that was the case. Eda and King deserved and needed a lot of screen time to compensate for their lack of relevance through the third season. Still… It feels like they wasted time every time they brought the focus back to them by just hanging around helping the puppets. [Shortly after they wake up have them leave the palace and search for Luz, be intercepted by Belos's influence, and for them to change their focus on helping the survivors that weren't inside Hexide.] ---the final confrontation was a stunning spectacle, and Belos's death was beyond satisfying (he got stomped to death by one descendant of his brother, the son of the Titan whose name he used to create his regime, and the nonbinary witch who dedicate a good portion of their lives to fight belos's regime) ---Although I'm not the biggest fan of Time Skips (The one in Thanks to Them is understandable) this one shows us that EVERYONE got their well-deserved good ending.

Just because I have my own opinion and vision doesn’t mean I didn’t appreciate this last season. Although the shortening will forever taint my joy for the show, eternally wishing to see the missing potential we never got to see… I love it and nothing will change that.

This is day 6 of Autistic Hunter Week. For today’s subject of accommodation, we need to talk about public transportation and accommodations for neurodivergent people.

Hello, here is my submission for Autistic Hunter Week. The drawing was initially not that related to the topic of today. I had it planned for another day, but it was taking longer than expected, then I saw the topic of this day, and decided to focus on it by putting Hunter and Flapjack into a bus shelter. As I talk about neurodivergent accommodations and Hunter, there will unfortunately not be much Owl House talk after this. Afterall, most of the series takes place in the Boiling Isles, where the show gets into the common trope of everything being in range of walking or personal transportation. However, to make up for that I’ll be writing up a brief outline how to include this subject into Season 3. A lot of what is said in this can also be applied to the any setting based on modern America.

This will be an essay into problems for neurodivergent people in the public transportation systems, specifically paratransit. From experience, this will be focusing on transit systems in the east coast of the United States. Outside school buses, I have experience with public transit in DC, NYC, and various cities in Florida. While I am a neurodivergent person, I do not have a physical disability, so any thoughts about problems with accessibility for physical disability in public transit are based on what I have read on it.

To begin with, there is the first major problem for neurodivergent people and public transportation: the lack of it. Jacksonville, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa are the only cities in Florida with transit more than buses, and these systems are not that interesting. Consider that Miami is smaller in area and slightly bigger in density compared to Philadelphia but has a smaller rail system. Palm Beach County is bigger in population to Bronx County (Palm Beach is a bigger county than it, but most of the population is east of the Florida Turnpike except for some cities like Wellington and Royal Palm), but only has regional rail like Tri-Rail and newly made Brightline. If you want to get from Jupiter to West Palm, the only choice is to switch between buses (or head to the current northernmost Tri-Rail station and ride it south), taking at least 90 minutes to travel the equivalent to a half hour car ride.

For disabled people, this is a major problem. There are proportionally fewer disabled drivers than there are able bodied drivers. Disabled people make less than able bodied people, lowering their chances of being able to afford a car. Outside of disability rights, American cities are in a problem of being too car centric, full of traffic, and suffering from all the pollution from vehicle fumes. Public transit is a necessity in modern times.

If more neurodivergent people are to use public transit, then it must be made more accessible to everyone. Some improvements could be to extend Tri-Rail north to Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter, even to Stuart and Port St. Lucie. Sun-Rail should be expanded northward beyond Deland and eastward to Titusville. Palm Beach may soon possibly get light rail to connect Wellington to West Palm Beach, but they should also consider building light rail along US-1 Corridor and Military Trail. Buses in cities could be improved by having dedicated lanes or going electric via trolley buses. These changes will be expensive but ultimately affordable and will increase where you can get and how fast you can get there, making them more useful and significantly increasing ridership.

Now that I got past the general problem with the lack of public transit, it is time to get to how accommodations are done for neurodivergent people in the big way. With public transportation in America, buses and rail must provide a variety of accessibility features in their vehicles and infrastructure, even if they barely have or maintain those. However, there is one interesting accommodation when it comes to public transportation: paratransit.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) demands public transit service to have paratransit. Paratransit comes in the form of either a van or a minibus which can be scheduled to arrive at your home and take you to a destination you choose. If needed, the driver may get out to help you onto the bus. Most come with a wheelchair lift if you are using one. If you are a neurodivergent person in the United States, you are most likely able to use these services. Just put your city name into a search engine and add the word paratransit and you will probably find your local service and the application for it. Hunter would probably be eligible too, though we’ll get further into that at the end. The cost is around the same as a ride on a bus, though your only way of paying may be cash or tickets. A lot of these paratransit services need to consider multi-day bus passes like their regular counterparts, so riders don’t need to keep bringing exact change or constantly ordering tickets. At least the Toledo paratransit does so (though they’re currently waving fares entirely), I do not know of any other place which has multi-day passes.

A major problem with these services is applying to access them. To apply for these paratransit services, you must schedule a visit with a physician to assess your condition, see whether you could just use regular transit systems, and sign a part of your applications. You can probably see a major problem with this. You need to afford the time and money visit to physician so you can use the system, which could be at least a few hundred dollars. You may be better off getting a regular bus pass at that point. This could be alleviated by making assessments free or reduced in price via a nationalised healthcare, but that comes with the obstacle of getting nationalised healthcare. Perhaps after sending in an application and getting accepted, the rider is given the option to a further assessment by a physician paid for by the paratransit system. This would not determine their eligibility, but to give a more accurate perspective on how to help the customer.

The final problem I want to talk about is how these systems are setup. You schedule a ride to a place at a specific pickup time, and the bus may come a few minutes earlier or later after it. An algorithm then figures out the schedule for buses on that day, and a lot of times it does so poorly and is made worse when adjustments must be made during the day. On any day, the bus can pick up someone while you are riding it. The bus then either returns to the route to your destination, heads to pick up another person, or heads to drop off the picked-up person. On an ideal day, the other rider is somewhere near your path. Sometimes I can be on a bus which picks up two extra people and only adds ten extra minutes to my ride. On another day, they could be twenty kilometres in another direction. The bus picking up another rider could easily add an hour to a trip. This compounds into a problem of reliability and time. If you are going to schedule a bus to pick you up at 17:00, you must accept that you may get there at 19:30 as you take a tour of the entire county.

Unfortunately for this final problem, there may not be a solution in the paratransit system. The only solutions being trotted out are to just make better algorithms or turn them into a taxi service. I don’t want to see paratransit just turn into Lyft for disabled people, but what public transit can do to resolve this eludes me. The best solution I can see is just having a set of minibuses kept to a certain district and another set kept to handling rides over a longer distance.

This is most of what I want to talk about neurodivergent people and public transportation. More bus, more rail, easier application for paratransit. There are some additional problems that are obvious such as not being able to schedule a ride on the same day or penalties being places on riders for missing a bus or a late cancellation. However, this is currently over 1700 words and made on a laptop with no ability to charge. Now let’s talk about adding this subject to the Owl House.

It can seem hard to see how to tie Hunter and paratransit into a story. While the Owl House has one-off episodes, the “special episode about X” from 90s television is not appealing anymore. However, it’s not impossible. One simple thing that could be done is just having a bus in the background of shots set next to a road. As for a scene of someone riding paratransit, it probably would not fit. I don’t see a story where Hunter applies for it. We don’t yet know how the Boiling Isle characters in Gravesfield will be able to appear in public. If we were to just handwave that over, it could be a way for Hunter to get around the town and state. There seems to be a decent amount of walkability in the town, but he may need or want to visit outside the town and might not be able to have Camilla take him. Luz also could have applied since she too is neurodivergent and might be eligible. Waiting for the bus or van could be a place for conversations. Could there be a special episode (if this season was a full one) about it? Probably not, but its presence can be known.

For further examinations of public transit, I would suggest checking if your local city or town has a rider’s union. That is the best place to see what gripes people have with the system and figuring out a way to push for solutions. Outside of local groups, examine disability groups. The Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund is a good starting point. While I didn’t use them in studying this topic, the Autistic Women & Nonbinary Network seems to be another good source to learn more about neurodivergence.

And that’s this essay. The last thing I’ll say is for all the complaints about buses and paratransit in this article, it’s still better than cars, and it should be made clear that neurodivergent people use it as a means of transportation.
