Alex Gorsky’s educational and early life journey

Gorsky's family history is very interesting as his grandparents immigrated to the US from Russia and Croatia. Gorsky was born in Kansas City and he was the third child of her parents, he has 6 brothers and sisters. His family decided to relocate to Fremont, Michigan when he was 12 years old, As his father got a job at Gerber Foods as a marketing executive.

Gorsky was an outstanding athlete in his high school days. He was also a captain of his football team and had played both quarterback and linebacker. He was also the captain of the swimming team, where he always made sure that everything worked smoothly and equal chances were given to everyone.

In 1977 Gorsky was selected to represent Michigan at the Boy's Nation national conference when he was a member of Boy's State. At the same time, Congressman Guy Vander Jagt also nominated him to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1981, Gorsky was one of the candidates who were chosen for the Army Ranger School, where he earned the famous Ranger Tab.

Gorsky joined the United States Army's Artillery Branch as a lieutenant after completing his degree in May 1982 when was just 22 years old. During his service period, he had even headed an artillery platoon. In 1987, he was promoted to captain after serving as an officer for a period of six years and completing various assignments in Europe and Panama.

Gorsky married Patricia Dittrich at that time she was working as a hospital nurse from Carmel, California and he also took a very important decision in his career to leave the Army in 1988.

His educational path still wasn't over there. Gorsky earned his Master of Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.

Early Career at Johnson & Johnson (1988-2004)

Alex Gorsky started his career at Johnson & Johnson in 1988 as a sales representative in the Janssen Pharmaceuticals department. Later because of his excellent work ethic he rose through the ranks and performed various leadership positions. He was later appointed as Company Group Chairman in 2003 and his responsibilities included overseeing Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Gorsky was very active in the marketing of medicinal products such as Risperdal during that time. Unfortunately, Johnson & Johnson faced major legal issues due to the marketing of this medicine, and because of that, the company had to pay a huge fine as per the legalities.

Venture to Novartis (2004-2008)

Gorsky started a new chapter in his work life in 2004 when he entered the Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. There he started off as the General Medicines Head and the Chief Operating Officer. However, due to his excellent leadership skills, he was later appointed as the Head of Pharmaceuticals North America and then Chief Executive Officer.

Gorsky emphasized inclusiveness and diversity and put his main focus on it while working for Novartis. Gorsky had played a major role while working with Novartis for the expansion of the business's cardiovascular and other medical divisions.

Return to Johnson & Johnson (2008-2022)

Gorsky rejoined Johnson & Johnson in 2008 as Ethicon, Inc. Company Group Chairman. There as well his managerial skills were very quickly noticed and the company appointed him as a Worldwide Chairman of Medical Devices & Diagnostics in 2009. After that, his career bar kept on rising and he was appointed as the Vice Chairman in the Chairman's Office where he got a chance to work very closely with the CEO.

In 2012, the day finally came when all his leadership skills and experiences paid off as Alex Gorsky was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer CEO of Johnson & Johnson. From that point till now Johnson and Johnson's stock went really up and the company made a lot of profit.

Some facts about Alex Gorsky

Alex Gorsky takes charge of Johnson & Johnson's legal disputes including dealing with talc and opioid cases. He even appeared in a New Jersey trial about the company's baby powder product in January 2020.

Johnson & Johnson's stock price touched the sky during Gorsky's leadership. It more than tripled and the company frequently exceeded the S&P 500 with a yearly return of more than 15%. The company's whole market worth also improved greatly from around $180 billion to more than $470 billion as per the reports.

Gorsky made Johnson & Johnson's responsibility in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic as the world's largest healthcare firm. The company's COVID-19 vaccine which was based on a unique adenovirus-vector platform known as AdVac has received high praise for its strong immune response.

According to Becker's Hospital Review, Gorsky was one of the highest-paid CEOs in the healthcare industry in 2021 as he received an annual salary of $23.14 million.

Gorsky was the guest speaker at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania's MBA Graduation Ceremony in 2022 where shared very useful insights and wisdom with the students.

Gorsky has received various awards and honors because of his immense contribution to healthcare and humanitarian activities. Some of those are listed below:

Creative Journey (Re)Begins - Part 1

Tl/dr: I'm finally restarting my artistic journey after close to 15 stalled years. The rest of the images are in part 2.

When I was younger I used to spend most of my free time drawing. It was an escape, but it was also something I loved. Over the years I was taught some negative things about my artistic interests and future, and burned out from lack of support and being surrounded by self-centered peers in my university's art program.

As an adult, I've done very little art projects, and very little on a creative spectrum for that matter. My sole outlet was my Trek-based world my creative writing group wrote. We've been at that for fifteen years!

I moved states about five years ago, and became the "book gifting aunt" to my niche and nephew from where we moved from. My nephew is a huge fan of superheroes, so I decided to live the childhood I never had through him, and then his sister, and gift comics as some the bulk of the reading material, and get some myself (to test the age range, and to start my own collection and read along with them). Ironically, it was easier to find for my niche than for my nephew. But that hasn't stopped me!

Last year a lot of negative (and positive) things happened, and I had to quit my job that I was finally being allowed to at least do things related to what I went to school for (web/graphic design), because I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep at the pace I was going, nor even guarantee meeting deadlines with my grandmother having been moved in (it was always the plan, just...sooner than anticipated, and among other stressors tied to the work). I was introduced to Batman: Wayne Family Adventures (Webtoon Originals comic by Starbite) upon it's release around the same time. I love everything about it!

This past May/June I was searching for their summer birthday gifts, and Amazon suggested a comic called Space Boy by Stephen McCrainie. The omnibus I had found mentioned it was a collection of some number of episodes from Webtoon. I thought that was very fortuitous, and I could go check it out and see what I think. I wound up purchasing the two omnibus books already out, and pre-ordering the third the same day, and read all 300+ episodes on the platform that night thanks to some insomnia. I also sent him an email expressing my affection for the comic, (I never message artists of any kind...and never has anyone replied, but he did! He was very sweet.)

Love. Space. Boy.

Because of subscribing to Space Boy, Webtoon finally managed to figure out that I wasn't interested in manga-style art, (I am, just...wasn't interested in what it was suggesting, and wished there were more varied art options available, but didn't take the time to look). Through it, I found many other wonderful comics by fabulous creators. My first two others being TENACITY by Paige Critchlow, and Sugar & Spies by Paige Keeper.

Through TENACITY I found a group of fabulously supportive, inspiring and awesome creatives, especially Paige! They have been the final kick in the pants to get back into my arts and just do. Two nights ago Lexi and one of her Twitch followers convinced me to finally put up my old works, and what I've done recently, no matter what it is. So...here it starts!

As ‘Official Vehicle Partner’, BMW Group has been closely linked with the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship since the very first race around seven years ago. Since the Rome E-Prix (ITA) at the weekend, a new FIA Formula E safety car leads the field: the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW. The fully electric car was designed by BMW Motorsport such that racing technology makes it perfectly suited to the special requirements of a FIA Formula E safety car. FIA President Jean Todt and the official FIA Formula E safety car driver Bruno Correia (POR) were among those won over at a race weekend with plenty of safety car action.

The positive verdict of former racing driver Correia is a great description of the unique character of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW. In this instance, BMW Motorsport did not convert an existing road vehicle into the FIA Formula E Safety Car. Instead, the engineers used the new MINI Cooper SE (combined fuel consumption: 0.0 l/100 km; combined energy consumption: 17.6 – 15.2 kWh/100 km according to WLTP, 16.1 – 14.9 kWh/100 km according to NEFZ, combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) as a basis to design a totally new safety car.

“We approached the project both in terms of safety and handling as if we were building a racing car, and started with the body in white of the MINI Cooper SE,” described Rudolf Dittrich, head of vehicle development at BMW Motorsport. “The result is a car that sets standards in braking power, cornering performance and agility. And it is precisely these areas that are crucial on the narrow street circuits in Formula E.”

In addition to the body in white, the powertrain is another component taken from the production vehicle. Only details were modified to meet the specific requirements of a safety car, and it yields 135 kW of power and 280 Nm of torque. This sees the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW sprint from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds (production: 7.3 sec.), from 0-60 km/h in 3.6 sec. (production: 3.9 sec.) and from 80-120 km/h in 4.3 sec. (production: 4.6 sec.).

The brakes are largely identical in construction to those of the MINI John Cooper Works GP (combined fuel consumption: 7.3 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions: 167 g/km). For the chassis, the basic concept was adopted from production; however, numerous components (for example, the spring damper system) were replaced with motorsport elements. A totally new feature is the Kevlar underride guard familiar from rallying, and which primarily protects the battery of the MINI Electric Pacesetter inspired by JCW when driving roughly over kerbs. The size, profile and rubber compound of the tyres have also been modified for use as a safety car.

Through the consistent use of carbon and CFRP in the construction of the specific bodywork modifications, some of which were even produced using 3D printing, the BMW Motorsport engineers were able to achieve a weight reduction of around 130 kg compared with the production model, and thus an unladen weight of around 1,230 kg. The safety car contains all the modules required by the FIA for passive safety. In the interior, the driver has all the required systems such as radio, GPS, transponder and the control panels for the lighting system.

Vip, Vip, Hurra! Der Wochenrückblick der Stars ist da. Schaut doch bitte genau hin! Da ist doch eindeutig eine Wölbung zu erkennen! Und auch die Haut ist so rosig! Das ist der Beweis, dass in Lauras Bauch ein kleiner Wendler heranwächst oder aber eine Wendlerin - und damit willkommen zu unserem Wochenrückblick auf die Welt der Promis. Herrje, die Wendlers wieder, mögen Sie sich jetzt denken. Wieso sind die ständig in den Medien? Die machen doch gar nichts mehr, außer ihren Account auf der Erotik-Plattform OnlyFans zu bestücken, den Hund Gassi zu führen und den Einkaufswagen über den Walmart-Parkplatz zu karren. Es ist schon ziemlich kurios, dass die Medien nach wie vor so einen Narren an Laura und ihrem Gatten gefressen haben und teilweise regelrecht danach lauern, was die beiden als Nächstes liefern, was eventuell eine Schlagzeile wert sein könnte. Nun aber sind etliche Medienleute einer Finte aufgesessen. Seit Tagen kursierten Fotos, die eine vermeintliche Laura mit einem Babybauch zeigen sollen. Das mag alles gut und schön sein. Problem nur: Die Frau auf dem Foto ist nicht Laura Müller. Mittlerweile hat die Wendler-Gattin ein Statement abgegeben. Sie ist über die Schwangerschaftsgerüchte und das Interesse an ihrer Person alles andere als erfreut. So schreibt sie etwa in ihrer Instagram-Story: "Nein, ich bin aktuell nicht schwanger." Und weiter: "Jede Frau sollte respektiert werden und ihre eigenen Entscheidungen treffen." Außerdem sei sie es leid, wegen gestreuter Gerüchte und anderen Menschen "in Erklärungsnot" gebracht zu werden. Das Statement ist eine kleine Überraschung, normalerweise äußert sich die 21-Jährige, die nach der Heirat mit dem Wendler offiziell Norberg heißt, zu derlei Themen nicht. "Omikron flutscht einfach überall durch" Auch sonst steht die Woche der Prominenten unter keinem guten Stern - und damit ist nicht der Lohn gemeint, nach dem die Dschungelcamp-Kandidaten aktuell in den Prüfungen streben, sondern schlicht und ergreifend Corona. Etliche Promis hat es erwischt: Elton John wurde positiv getestet, Sahra Wagenknecht, die frisch Verlobten Christina Luft und Luca Hänni sowie das Model Marie Nasemann. Bei den meisten sei der Krankheitsverlauf glücklicherweise milde. Sänger Luca beispielsweise fühle sich lediglich ein bisschen "grippig". Und auch vor dem "Jenseits von Eden"-Interpreten Nino de Angelo hat das Virus nicht Halt gemacht, nur eben, das die Infektion bei ihm eine andere Hausnummer ist. Der 58-Jährige leidet an der Lungenkrankheit COPD und gilt somit als Risikopatient: "Mich hat's jetzt auch erwischt. Das wollte ich wirklich tunlichst vermeiden, aber dieses Omikron flutscht einfach überall durch", teilte er seinen Fans auf Instagram mit und auch, dass er froh sei, geimpft zu sein. Und dann gab es in dieser Woche noch ein Ereignis, das wir hier nur am Rande erwähnen, statt länger zu thematisieren. Viel wurde bereits darüber geschrieben, unter anderem hier, hier und hier. Das Dschungelcamp hat einen Rassismus-Skandal zu beklagen und ein bisschen macht sich in dieser Staffel auch bemerkbar, dass es nicht gut für den Entertainment-Faktor ist, sich zu viele Leute an Bord zu holen, die ihren Lebensunterhalt mit der Plattform Instagram bestreiten und deswegen, wie die Schauspielerin Anouschka Renzi zurecht beklagt, unentwegt "eine Show" abziehen. Gerhard Schröder bald im Dschungelcamp? Diejenigen, die bei unserem RTL die Kandidaten für das Dschungelcamp casten, sollten ihren Pool für die Auswahl im kommenden Jahr unbedingt erweitern. Die Unterhaltungssparte umfasst ja nicht nur die Zunft der Sänger, Schauspieler und Reality-TV-Kandidaten. Einen großen Unterhaltungs-Faktor beispielsweise bietet regelmäßig die Politik. Was die Gagen betrifft, so mag man in den vergangenen Jahren möglicherweise finanziell Sparflamme gefahren sein. Verständlich, denn so mancher Reality-TV-Kandidat würde auch draufzahlen, um an der Kultshow teilzunehmen. Aber vielleicht sollte man wieder mehr springen lassen und sich ein paar ehemalige politische Hochkaräter an Bord holen. Der Einheitsvertrag-Unterzeichner Günther Krause war bereits ein guter Anfang. Schade, dass er nicht lieferte. Aber auch das kennt man ja aus der Politik. Aber wie wäre es mit einem der Minister aus dem abgewählten Merkel-Kabinett? Und was machen eigentlich Philipp Rösler und Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg? Es mag abwegig klingen, aber wenn man einen Blick auf den Instagram Account von Gerhard Schröders Frau So-yeon wirft, stellt man sehr schnell fest, dass der Bundeskanzler a.D. gern kocht. Beste Dschungelcamp-Präferenz "ever". Und was war sonst so los die Woche? Brad Pitt soll einen schwedischen Popstar daten, Fürstin Charlènes Zahnprobleme sind so akut, dass die Frau von Prinz Albert mittlerweile auch psychisch erschöpft sei, und Melania Trump verhökert ihre Robe. Unter anderem bot sie einen weißen Hut an, den sie einmal während eines Staatsbesuchs des französischen Präsidenten trug. Minimales Problem: Kaum einer interessiert sich für die getragenen Klamotten der früheren First Lady. Neben all der Kritik, die sie für ihre Versteigerungsaktion kassiert, muss man aber auch sagen, dass sie "mit einem Teil der Erlöse" Pflegekinder unterstützen wollte. In Deutschland hätte Melania keine Unannehmlichkeiten rund um ihre Robe. Sie könnte sich einfach ihren weißen Hut schnappen, in die Halle von "Bares für Rares" reinspazieren und sich ein anständiges Händlerangebot geben lassen. Bis nächste Woche!

Rocktail aus Kassel im Live-Finale des Deutschen Rock & Pop-Preises!

Die Kasseler Rocktail sind im Live-Finale des Deutschen Rock & Pop-Preises! Die Festivaljury des 37. Deutschen Rock & Pop Preises 2019 hat Rocktail im Rahmen ihrer Anhörung von zahlreichen eingesandten Musikbewerbungen in der Kategorie "Deutscher Funk & Soul Preis" für das Live-Finale in der Siegerlandhalle in Siegen ausgewählt. Das Live-Finale wird am Samstag, dem 14. Dezember 2019 ausgetragen. Dieses auf gemeinnütziger Basis seit 37 Jahren durch die gemeinnützigen Künstlervereinigungen DRMV e.V. und Deutsche PopStiftung organisierte Non-Profit-Kulturfestival, der Deutsche Rock & Pop Preis, ist der deutschlandweit älteste und in Sachen Nachhaltigkeit der ausgezeichneten Künstler erfolgreichste Nachwuchspreis im Gesamtbereich der Rock- und Popmusik. Bereits erfolgreich haben an diesem Festival Künstler wie PUR, Juli, Mundstuhl, Yvonne Catterfeld, Pasquale Aleardi, Luxuslärm u.v.a. teilgenommen. Rocktail: Soul und Funkrock aus Kassel! Dabei setzt die Band überwiegend auf Eigenkompositionen mit deutschen Texten. Das Programm wurde anläßlich unzähliger Hallen- und Clubkonzerte sowie vieler Auftritte bei Open-Airs präsentiert. Im Laufe der Zeit haben Rocktail 4 CDs aufgenommen. Die Songs von der aktuellen CD „Neue Zeiten“ sind von verschiedenen Radiosendern gespielt worden. In der Hörerhitparade von Rockradio.de schaffte es der Opener „Nacht am Hafen“ von 0 auf 1 und konnte die Pole-Position 3 Monate verteidigen. Nach vielfältigen Schaffensperioden hat sich der aktuelle Stil der Band herauskristallisiert: Soul & Funk mit rockigen Untertönen. Hoher Mitgroovefaktor ist garantiert!
