I'm watching the most recent US Ghosts episode (2x14 Trevor's Body) and I need to write down all of the points that make me go either "oh!" or "oh?" or "holy shit" etc. Warning for excessive use of caps lock bc I got excited and tbh this is mostly just my thoughts as I'm watching. aw noooo, Trev it wasn't you, it wasn't your death that did it (probably hopefully maybe) they might have had problems before who knows?? just have Sam ask them

Trev looks rightfully disgusted
shouting through windows, lovely ngl I find this so awkward
yes Isaac I'm just as uncomfortable as you are buddy
Trevor 1968-2000 he's 40! he doesn't look it honestly
aww, that's actually a sweet little memorial
yay! Isaac is forgiving Nigel! yay!!
Jenkins is in fact a son of a bitch, well said Isaac It's all your fault, Jafar Jenkins
ohmygosh moving in? moving in? yes?
yes you are baby stepping Nigel but Isaac needs this let him have it
MOVING IN!
told you Trev, told you, not your fault - DAMN IT LENNY WHILE THEY WERE IN SCHOOL?? DO YOU HAVE NO SHAME SIR?
someone give Trevor a hug or so help me I will scream
thank you Alberta TvT lowkey wanted Hetty but you work too, that's so sweet
yeah, you guys ARE #couplegoals you totally are, you're so sweet, the only people that I can say are also goals are Alison and Mike
(who wants another crossover episode?)
oh so is Thor 35 then? good to know
yep, the ghosts are children confirmed
and of course we end with Trevor trying to kill Tara Reid
Ok so that was a trip and a half, I'm excited for next episode now.

REVIEW: Disney’s Descendants: The Musical
Tumblr media
After three long years, Hamilton Theatre Inc. has returned in full force with sold out houses even before opening night (starting with their 64th season opener of the 1980's cult classic turned musical Heathers). The thrill of sold out productions speaks volumes to the cast, crew, band members, volunteers and, of course, audiences who have waited (im)patiently to sit back and be taken away on a musical theatre journey that HTI delivers with dedication and delight.
Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a popular film series turned stage production combining storylines and songs from the first two films and showcases the villainous side of the House of Mouse. The teenage offspring of infamous characters such as Maleficent, Jafar, The Evil Queen Grimhild and Cruella DeVille are granted a royal opportunity to leave the realm their parents have been banished to and see what being good could do for them instead. It's a simple plot but one that speaks to audiences of all ages, especially if, like me, you believed that the villains were more interesting than the heroes anyway.
The set design includes multiple levels, moving pieces, hidden passageways and some truly stunning stained glass windows which feature more beloved characters from Disney classics. HTI is no stranger to utilizing the stage to maximize its fullest potential and this set is no exception. Little touches and "easter eggs" let us know that the Disney spirit is truly present throughout. A huge nod to the efficiency of the stage management team allowing numerous transitions and set changes to flow smoothly.  The lighting design, for the most part, is effective, colourful and deepens the magical atmosphere of the story. There are times where the cast is only half lit or unintentionally in shadow which made it difficult to see their facial expressions and reactions. Some extra spot or warm flood lights would resolve this easily.
Costume design is another strong element of this production, especially with so many recognizable characters from Disney's vast anthology. Designers Jenn Helsdon and Krystal Clarke blend iconic and modern, unique pieces to create original, flashy costumes for every character. Very impressive efforts from this design team who had a huge cast and multiple characters to create for.
The cast of Disney's Descendants: The Musical is split into youth and adult members who almost always bring enthusiasm to their roles. Kudos must be given to the production team for finding a diverse range of talent with several cast members being on stage for the first time ever. There's several praiseworthy performances from both HTI veterans and first-timers alike. Taylor-Rae Scott oozes with delicious villainy as Maleficent and is, by far, the standout in terms of vocal prowess and characterization. Scott's signature song, "Evil Like Me" is a campy delight and channels the energy of the film version's star Kristin Chenoweth to near perfection. It is no small feat to hit those high soprano notes and Scott makes it seem effortless. Bravo.
In their first HTI production, Emerie-Rose Scott (playing lead bad girl Mal) and Julian Braithwaite (as Jafar's son Jay) proved themselves time and again. Both had scene stealing moments and truly relished in their characters. Scott's "If Only" solo was a poppy Avril Lavigne-style ballad that suited her vocals well and was her shining moment. Braithwaite demonstrated a real knack for fast paced lyrics and comedy in "Goal" alongside companion Carlos (played with wicked humour by Julia Leslie) and the rest of the ensemble.
As you can likely guess, there is an entire playbill’s worth of cast members to mention. It would be impossible to list every moment I enjoyed. A few more highlights include Mike Jensen's (in several roles) overall comedic timing, Zachary Glardine (Prince Ben)’s adorkable awkwardness, Fairy Godmother's constant sassy demeanour (what a performance by Graden Bourne!), a Snow White-Joan Rivers mashup and an especially lovely moment between best baddies Mal and Evie (played with endless charm by Rachel Kelly) in their poignant duet "Space Between." There are very few moments I found lacking and, if anything, that's the script and not the cast or director's fault. Some characters and plot points are just underdeveloped and despite that, this production ensures everyone on that stage has their moment.
What the majority of these eager newcomers need to truly shine is confidence. It's clear that everyone is well directed, choreographed and staged by the combined efforts of Dustin Jodway and Bree McLean-Roberts but there are several moments where the lack of certainty in their vocals, projection or movements overtakes the scene leaving us feeling those opening night jitters far too frequently. I am certain that with more performances and basking in the audience's loud, continuous applause, the cast will thrive and their characters and voices will excel.
As stated earlier, the entirety of Disney's Descendants: The Musical is now sold out (though at the time of posting this review, there's some very limited tickets available. Highly recommended hopefuls contact the box office to see if you can snag any remaining seats or be put on a waitlist). This speaks to the calibre of performance that HTI and its skilled members continue to bring season after season. It's a wicked good time for Disney and musical theatre lovers alike. Enjoy chillin' like a villain Hamilton, you won't be feeling rotten to the core after seeing this production.

FACTS OF THE CASE
1) anxelin is a WILD name, particularly for disney descendants when 99% of the characters have the same first initial as one of their parents, and failing that a same syllable, 2) i haven't been able to find a SINGLE disney source saying that anxelin was the name of that character, only secondhand sources (articles, forum posts) saying that that was the name of the character 3) anxelin seems to be a nahuatl word meaning "angel". i'm not 100% sure on this but since when u google anxelin a video on how to pronounce anxhela pops up and anxhela is a variant of angela, so.... 4) one of the articles that has anxelin is in spanish and changes audrey to amara. "...Ben (hijo de La Bella y la Bestia), Anxelin (hijo de Rapunzel), Loonie (hija de Mulan), Amara (hija de la Bella Durmiente)..."
TIMELINE
december 12, 2013 ( the original, as far as i can tell, film synopsis) — "In a present day idyllic kingdom, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic “Beauty and the Beast”) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes, including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?"
may 24, 2014 — a forum user says the disney wiki and imdb have anxelin listed, as well as "Dejan Loyola as Aziz (son of... [maybe Aladdin and Jasmine?]" as we all (should) know by now, the disney wiki & imdb can be edited by anyone, and the school of secrets imdb and the disney wiki don't refer to her, though the descendants 1 trivia section does. i find it likely that the article was sourcing itself from imdb or the disney wiki, just like this person was.
may 24, 2014 — an english article refers to anxelin.
may 27, 2014 — an english article refers to anxelin, who it says has not been cast.
june 17, 2014 — articles in both french and spanish refer to anxelin, as well as calling audrey "amara"
tldr: i can't find anything that i can point to that i know FOR A FACT that was posted before may 2014 that mentions anxelin as being the name of the character, and that means that anxelin came from some 12 year old editing imdb and the disney wiki in 2014 and no one bothered to check that 12 year old's sources so canonically rapunzel's daughter from school of secrets is nameless thanky uo and gnight

Top 6 Favorite Movies Of All Time
Hello friends! I am back this week with a new blog. This week I will be counting down my favorite movies of all time AKA movies that I’ve seen a million times and am still not sick of. I’ll talk a little bit about them and what makes them all so great. I shall start with number 6:
6. Disney Descendants 1&2  (2015 & 2017)
Tumblr media
I feel like it should be obvious by now that I love Descendants with all my heart. For those who don’t know, the Descendants franchise focuses on the children of classic Disney characters. More specifically, the main characters are Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen, Jay, the son of Jafar, and Carlos, the son of Cruella De Vil. Both films center around the characters finding who they are as people outside of their parent’s shadows. They also happen to be musicals. Both of these films and the people in them mean a whole lot to me. Whenever I am not feeling well I can watch them or listen to the music from them and smile. The story line and the characters are so well written and complex, especially for a Disney movie. Although they are last on the list, that does not undermine how trash I am for this franchise. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of either film or supporting Descendants as a franchise.

5. The Karate Kid (1984)
Tumblr media
From this point on, I feel like it should be pretty obvious what my favorite movie era is. The Karate Kid was a pretty big success after its release. So much so that it earned two sequels, an attempted reboot with a female protagonist, a 2010 remake, and even a short lived cartoon series. I love the two sequels, but the original is my favorite which is why it earns its place as my fifth favorite movie of all time. I was introduced to the movies when I was very young and fell in love with them. The original specifically caught my attention because of all of the jokes my dad connected with. I also personally connected a lot with Daniel’s character and how much he grew throughout the film. As I watched it many more times, the jokes caught on with me too. I’ve never gotten less excited to watch The Karate Kid trilogy, and I don’t imagine I ever will.
4. School Of Rock (2003)
Tumblr media
This is the stand out 2000s film among my top 5. I was first shown scenes from this movie in my fifth grade music class. It was one of my teacher’s favorite movies at the time, and he thought we could benefit from seeing the musical scenes, but purposely kept us from seeing the rest of the movie because of the adult language. He also claimed that people told him that he looks like Jack Black (to be honest, I didn’t see it). I remember that music class to this day, because without it, I may have never found this masterpiece of a film, or at least not as early as I did. I asked my dad to get me the DVD by telling him that I had watched it in class which automatically made him believe that it was appropriate for me to be watching. Of course, I didn’t gain as big an appreciation for the humor until I was a bit older. Still though, the story and music has stuck with me this long to the point that I can still watch it and get the same joy that I did when I first watched it as a rebellious 10 year old. School of Rock has given me such an appreciation for rock music and the community surrounding it. It’s such an important film, that I feel like everyone should see at least once.
youtube
3. The Goonies (1985)
Tumblr media
Because do you really have a list of movies without at least one of them having something to do with Steven Spielberg? Of course not. This movie is about as “classic coming of age film” as it gets. I don’t have a complex backstory as to how I began loving this movie besides the fact that Corey Feldman is in it. It just kinda happened. It’s the kind of movie that gets slight chuckles mostly, but warms your heart nonetheless. I love this movie with all my heart. The Goonies is the one movie aside from The Nightmare Before Christmas that my family automatically associates with me. Any time it is on TV, they tell me or put it on if I’m in the room. I couldn’t ask for a better movie to be associated with. A true classic that deserves its spot in the film history books and in the third spot on this list.
youtube
2. Stand By Me (1986)
Tumblr media
Another coming of age film with Corey Feldman that I love. Are you sensing the theme? I stumbled upon this movie while channel surfing and stopping when I saw Corey Feldman. I watched a bit of it and enjoyed it before I realized it was nearly halfway over and it wouldn’t make sense to watch it from that point. That’s why I asked my dad to get it for me, and he agreed. Funnily enough, Stand By Me has even more adult jokes than School Of Rock, and my dad was immediately yelled at by my step mom when she realized he had let me watch it. Still, I watched it and fell in love with it. It was my first and most impactful experience with Stephen King’s work. There are just so many iconic, humorous and beautiful lines in the movie that make it so easy to come back to. There are few characters in film that I love more than Gordie, Chris, Teddy, and Vern, and I suspect that that will always be the case.
youtube
Before I move on to my number 1, here are some honorable mentions:
-The Sandlot (1993) -The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) -The Outsiders (1983) -Little Shop Of Horrors (1986) -Titanic (1997)
And finally my number one favorite movie of all time is...
1. The Lost Boys (1987)
Tumblr media
Yes, my all time favorite movie is the all around masterpiece of a film, The Lost Boys. It also had sequels, but unlike the Karate Kid sequels, we don’t talk about them. The Lost Boys was first introduced to me by my dad when I was 12. He told me it was one of his favorite movies growing up, so I was automatically speculating how could it could possibly be. Of course, 12 year old me automatically thought it would be lame. Little did I know that that day I would be introduced to a movie that would become my all time favorite (and Corey Feldman). It has remained as my number one favorite for all 8 of the years since then. I’ve seen it at least two hundred times in my life, and I’m still in love with it. At this point, I kind of just watch it to feel normal. I also bond over it a lot with my dad. The funny part is that as a more intense fan person than my dad, I know more about the movie than he does at this point. Still, whenever I am feeling reminiscent or feel like talking about vampires, my dad understands the love I have for this film. If I haven’t started hating this movie even after my 200th time watching it, I’d dare say I’m stuck with it.
youtube
Welp, that is it for this post, friends. If you also like any of my favorite movies or if you want to tell me about some of your own, feel free! I love geeking out about movies. Thank you for reading if you did. Until next week. 🤗

This may be a repeat - it glitched a little while I was posting so I just wanted to make sure it went through. Do you think any of the VKs (or AKs, for that matter) have any hobbies/interests that they keep hidden because they don't fit in with the personality they show the world?
Youwere right to risk a repeat, as attempt #1 did not in fact make it.
They do, considering the fact that their “Rottenness” islargely an act/defence mechanism to survive in the harsh, cruel, lawless conditions of the Isle, where the only form of authorityexplicitly wishes to screw you over for her own personal benefit, herown daughter included.
Rotten Four for now, ask again for other VKs.
Mal I would imagine is much more interested in “girlystuff” like dresses, make-up, and hair styling than she would liketo let on. It all started with Evie and Maleficent emphasizing thatshe should look beautiful and intimidating, with the emphasis on highpopped collars, angular features, and leather (Mal isn’t a fan ofthe moth-eaten, now-disenchanted weaves in the Bargain Castle), butEvie’s own attempts at making her more princess-like really hithome, more than she’d like.
“Mal, you can fabulous in frills and still scare the living crapout of people, it’ll probably be a much more traumatizingexperience for them if their torturer is flaying them alive intulle.”
She’s dissociated herself from skirts, dresses, and frills eversince Evie and the more feminine of the VKs like the Step-Daughtersco-opted that, both because it’s Evie’s “thing,” because shereally does not like the Step-Daughters, and she honestlydoesn’t get how Evie is able to perform such daring, acrobaticescapes in high heels and skirts that will flash people if she liftsher leg up slightly.
“Still don’t, actually.”
You can actually see her expressing more of this in the laterparts of Descendants 1 where she starts to wear lightercolours and skirts, and abandons her pants. Notice how, when she’sreturning to “VK” style in 2, she starts donning pants andother traditionally masculine clothes all over again, because now sheneeds to return to that image of “Badass, Unladylike-As-Hell Mal.”
Aside from Evie’s interest in science, reading more“boring” fare beyond the events of the day and correspondencebetween her future fellow ladies of the court about the latestgossip, she’s also had an interest in athletics and self-defencelessons far beyond the “proper ways to forcefully rebuff anunwanted individual/s,” and actually wanted to join some of theyoung VK bonding activities like beating the crap out of each other, going into gang wars for minor territories (and scrambling whensomeone bigger comes to claim it), and hurling sharp jabs at eachother whilst attempting to stab the other with swords, or otherpointed objects.
She had suppressed this side of hers (though not entirely--see hercompetence in the swordfight during “It’s Goin’ Down”)because her mother had claimed that it was not “ladylike at all”and potentially a turn-off to her future prince, and thus, a threatto Evil Queen’s plans to get off the Isle.
She’s had a slightly better time of it because Auradonian Royalsare genre-aware enough to know that athletics, parkour, and theability to fight and escape from precarious situations all on theirown will be a VERY useful set of skills in the future, especially ifsome of the Villains escape like they fear.
Jay’s is education in general. Influence, cunning, andfighting prowess are seen as the key traits for any VK to have, with“brainy stuff” seen as optional skills, or relegated to theminions. For example, Maleficent has “Readers,” poorly paid andconstantly abused lackeys that act as both secretaries and heralds toher more important information that she wants disseminated throughwriting to make sure everyone gets it straight.
Before you ask, yes, Mozenrath is in fact the head of thisinglorious division of her empire.
It doesn’t really help that the icons in his life aren’t bigfans of education. One of Gaston’s key traits is hisanti-intellectualism, everything Rourke needed to know he got frombasic training or experience, and Jafar does not like the idea of hisson getting “dangerous ideas” in his head, like the Quran’semphasis on charity and kindness to all beings as automatic andmandatory.
He’s getting better now that he’s in Auradon and hisathleticism opens the way to scholarships with colleges, but I’d belying if I didn’t say that group study sessions are both for thematerial they need to read, and how to actually, you know, study andlearn stuff from books, videos, and other types of materials.
Carlos’ isn’t a matter of trying to keep his imageup—he’s already near the bottom of the social ladder—butavoiding even more bullying from the others. His “dark secret” ishis passion for the story books and novels about the heroes, and BGUtales that occasionally make it to the Isle intact or mostly, attempting to read as much of them before they’re used for fuel forfires, or Maleficent confiscates them and has them destroyed as amatter of spite and upholding her rule.
“Nothing more dangerous than people getting it into their headsthat they could succeed against impossible odds and evil regimes; notthat I think they’ll actually win, but I’d rather not deal withthe messy uprisings.”
It helped him get through the rougher days, escaping into fantasyworlds and tales of his foes, filling in missing pages by himself, orrewriting the endings in his head to fit his desired narrativebetter—sometimes, he went on to rip out the original pages and usedthem as tinder so he wouldn’t be reminded of his less liked endingsor plot points.
It goes without saying that access to Auradon’s robustlibraries, physical and digital, plus the robust “historicalfiction,” “alternate reality fiction” and regular oldfanfiction industries have been a real boon to him, as with Auradon’sattitude that reading and getting inspired by tales of yesteryear isa GOOD thing.
Being able to connect with like-minded individuals is also a plus.
