ozzies long-ass TSP ramble

For context, a few days ago i was in a thinky mood when i watched this video on Valve catwalks. it mentioned death of the author, and while ive heard of it, I didnt understand what it meant until after the video explained it. So i got thinking. the following was a series of messages I sent to my friends on a discord server im in (with the exception of the last part bc i just thought of it now even tho im sick) that i compiled for yall into sections so its easier to read. these are just my thoughts and could be totally wrong, i just wanted to share aksjdh :P (plus this is my second time im posting this so there might be some inconsistencies)

(ramble under the cut so yall dont get a massive wave of text on your dash)

"smth smth death of the author smth smth reviews smth smth interpretations smth smth skip button"

like idk if this was obvious to everyone else n im just finally getting it or not, but the skip button ending being about the narrator seeing the negative reviews causing him to create the button in order to appease them, which said reviews ended up making him believe he was being preachy and obnoxious and unfunny, but as a result, he ends up believing it and trying to appease those interpretations rather than be more confident of his dialogue and what it means to him(whatever he may believe) and ending up dying at the end bc of it being a kind of literal version a death of an author of sorts

im just thinking about how timekeeper/settings person/432/whatever is really only interested in the player, but not stanley himself. and if the narrator ends up dying (or decaying at least in my interpretation) during the skip button, could the same be said about stanley as a character as well?

like we never see stanleys model as us, we dont see his feet when we look down, and the only time we see him in game is either as a hand during the bucket escape pod ending, the mariella endings, and the not stanley ending. and the last two are cutscenes. for all we know, stanley could have died at some point during the skip button after the narrator did and we would never know bc we cant see him

but since 432's desk being at the end of the epilogue which happens post skip button ending, i would have said that was the first time we ever see him interact with the game internally rather than asking for the time. but i do remember someone suggesting that the timekeeper was the one who removed the door in the skip button in order to kill the narrator off and get stanley/the player away from him in order to talk more

with that thought in mind, that would mean TK had to kill stanley and the narrator off in order to be able to lead the game, push beyond the barriers of a narrator and character and just talk to the player, one on one

it makes me wonder if what the curator said in the museum ending holds more weight

like, she talks to the player as well. both she and TK talk to the player themselves instead of stanley the character. and when she says "When every path you can walk has been created for you long in advance, death becomes meaningless, making life the same. Do you see now? Do you see that Stanley was already dead from the moment he hit start?"

stanley's function is a character in the narrators story, a literary device to propel the game forward. the narrator makes the race track, and stanley drives. without the narrator where would stanley go or do, without stanley who would move the story along?

"Can you see? Can you see how much they need one another? No, perhaps not. Sometimes these things cannot be seen."

and yet, hes dead, just like the curator said. because no matter what, he's never going to be able to truly make his own decisions. the confusion ending lays out how all the endings are scripted despite what the narrator believes and acts, its all predetermined.

and in a sense, the narrators dead too. no matter what stanley tries to do to change the story, or the narrator changes to the game in order for stanley to react to, its been planned long in advance for the eventuality. every word, every event. and with stanley's deaths, it ends up just bringing them back to the beginning again, "What exactly did the Narrator think he was going to accomplish?" if they always come back to the same preplanned paths, to the illusion of free will, it doesnt matter regardless. death doesnt become a statement, it becomes an inconvenience.

"But listen to me, you can still save these two. You can stop the program before they both fail. Push escape, and press quit. There's no other way to beat this game. As long as you move forward, you'll be walking someone else's path. Stop now, and it'll be your only true choice."

The only way to save both Stanley and The Narrator is by not letting the story play out to begin with. To beat the game, which means to let the game end after you win.

and yet,

the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is never the end is neve-

In a game where there is no ending that stops the game in its entirety, where everything will keep on happening again and again and the end is never the end, the only way to beat it is to make a choice as yourself the player, not stanley the character.

because he doesnt get a choice, the narrator doesnt get a choice. they think they do, but they dont. the only way to beat the game is to not play it. (which makes sense given that there are achievements involving not playing the game in both the 2013 HD remaster and 2022 Ultra Deluxe)

both Stanley and The Narrator are two sides of the same coin that make up The Stanley Parable, and the only way to use the coin is to give it away.

maybe thats why the true ending of the game with credits and stuff like that, is the Not Stanley Ending.

You the player have successfully broken the fourth wall from the outside in, even though that ending was planned like all the others (ie, the game allowing you to disconect the phone), you break the illusion of being stanley the character, which the game ends up booting you out of stanley as it cant handle the "narrative contradiction".

maybe thats why the escape pod ending has the sign that reads "both the player and the narrator must be present in order to leave". its not stanley, its the player, us.

maybe thats why that ending is one of the most cruel. the only way to get there is to leave the narrator trapped in the boss' office. there's no way to get him to the escape pod. the end is never the end.

(this part was the new idea i just had today so this might not make sense i appologize)

going back to the beginning of this ramble about the death of the author and such. perhaps there is a way to get the narrator out.

with thoughts about interpretations and with he idea of the "death of the author", all of us have our own interpretations of the TSP characters. whether its design, or relationship wise, or characterization, or what have you. The Narrator in my head is different from you reading this, and that narrator is different from another persons perspective, and definitely our narrators are different to the one that lives in Davey Wreden's head, or Kevan Brighting, or anyone who has even heard of the stanley parable.

and that's not a bad thing! there can be many similarities to the characters that our interpretations share, some more common than others and some that make no sense at all, but for the most part we all have different interpretations of the characters.

I read a book called Book Simulator (The Reader's guide to not reading) by Chris Yee on stream once. The VOD is gone now. But I discovered the book because I heard the guy writing/the narrator of sorts for the book was written like the Stanley Parable Narrator.

It didnt help that Kevan brighting voiced over the commercial for it too askjdh

but back to the book. this will contain somewhat spoilers for it since it brings up a moment at the end of the book so feel free to stop here if you dont want to be spoiled

basically, in Book Simulator, Booksi (The book's instructional narrator on how to fake read at the start of the book) is arguing with The Narrator (no not ours, but the general narrator who speaks in the third person), however, its revealed by The Narrator that Booksi has a plan to take over the world by inhabiting more book simulators and distributing them across the world. But, the reader could kill off the booksi that they have in their hands that they are reading, to quote:

"Or was he the original Booksi? Maybe not. Maybe the original Booksi had been vanquished long ago, and the reader was now facing one of the many copies roaming the world. Both Booksi and the Narrator knew the answer to this question, but neither would reveal the truth."

Taking from Book Simulator the concept of multiple iterations of one character existing in different copies of the media they originate from, maybe in a way that's how the Narrator may die in the stanley parable, forever stuck to repeat the same endings with the illusion of free will, but he lives on somewhat for everyone that has seen or heard of him in any capacity.

this may sound a bit preachy (oh the irony) but bare with me:

The Original Narrator from The Stanley Parable is dead, dead in the sense that he and Stanley are stuck within the game, given the illusion of free choice, and unable to leave nor do anything to try and escape, is also alive in the sense that we the players perception of The Narrator lives on in our minds.

The Narrator from the game might be stuck, but the Narrator i see in my head, the one i designed and draw and think of is perfectly fine and alive as ever.

and the same goes with you and anyone else who has heard of the narrator. their interpretation is still unique and different to them even if it all comes from the same media. he may not be exactly the same as the original, but hes still there. and in a way, hes free.

(man typing this last segment down makes me feel like a gd priest, and/or someone talking abt the barbie movie akjdhkjasdh so sorry if doesnt make sense at all :P)

the "also sick" comment isn't like "btw I'm SICK, how dare you not know" it's me saying I'm sick like how 2/3 of my roommates are

but like I'm so;;;; it feels so rich that L is like wtf do you want from me about me not replying for 45 minutes when I had to beg his gf over hours and hours of texts every so often to not force me to sit in unwiped shit after my surgery bc she had openly told me she just didn't rly feel like setting up the attachable bidet after telling me for weeks she would, and I never ever got a reply from her or L ever acknowledging that they were wide awake hanging out and laughing while I was like stuck in bed barely able to move begging for follow through on a commitment they made in advance and i eventually had to spend over $100 to hire someone to come out the next day and do it for me and I had to hold my shit for hours lmfao

like L is sooooo great at couching things in flawless tumblr wellness speak but only to talk about how valid they are for not showing up for you and how fucked up it is that you MIGHT ever have a moment where you can't be 100% there w them. like idk what to tell you I've been laying in bed with a sore throat and cough and fever passing out and waking up to roll over in buckets of sweat like the rest of the house. I do genuinely get being annoyed by a lack of response but it's also right back to this whole thing about Always assuming I'm mad at them which is legit one of the only things that actually makes me mad fjdkddhk like bro I do not THINK about you when you're not acting like I'm a bomb about to blow (also, as an aside -- we all take turns buying TP and it's usually me who does it like it's not out of pocket for me to say hey you are the One person who is out of the house already rn, can you get this on your way bc None of the bathrooms have back up rolls and one is totally out and I had to text our sickest roommate telling her to use the bidet and drip dry like.... "am I the first person you asked" yes bc you are the person who makes the most sense dumbfuck. I'm not being "overly needy" toward you or whatever jfc)

they literally told me at one point that the reason they're so scared of me is that my face is "triggering" for them when I'm angry or not feeling good and puts them "back in a really bad place" they have seen my face angry literally 3 times and each time it was on my way back to my room to decompress and each time I said nothing to them other than that I was in a bad mood and I was going to go to my room. I didn't yell either I just said it normal. like I genuinely feel gaslit here like I'm this horrifying monster of a man when it's like dude sometimes people are mad I don't know what YOU want from ME!! I do all my venting here where they can't ever see it even tho we've blocked each other, I censor their name like anyone even knows who they are, I isolate to chill out and it's literally been less than a handful of times like should I fling myself from the roof??????? would that fix it???

I literally know it's bc I'm a man too. none of this was like this until my facial hair came in more and it got crazy worse after I got top surgery and they're so so vocal about how much they despise men and think men should all fuck off and die and there's only a handful of acceptable men that they've personally vetted. despite them pretty clearly having a trans woman fetish bc they only date or look at porn of trans women and they do the whole step on me mommy thing about it even tho their gf has complained like. lmfao you're just a baby te//rf even tho you ID as trans masc yourself. like that's all this even is. Im autistic & adhd. Also have undiagnosed physical health issues which been acting up lately. Really not doing well, need help. Currently in shutdown, include verbal shutdown. And struggling type, forgive grammar plz. Need help & support, but is none. Don’t know what do. Everything feel impossible. Long vent under cut.

Want run away, somewhere no one can find. Somewhere quiet & alone, with internet & tv so can watch comfort shows, play comfort games, etc. But will turn off phone, or get new number, or just block all family except younger sister on everything, or something, idk. Want comfy bed & comfy chairs & good temperature control & good food, and just quiet & solitude. Preferably somewhere out in nature. Let everyone figure out their own shit without me. Can’t do this anymore. ONLY things keeping me from doing are younger sister & lack of money. Mom & twin sister need figure shit out on own, can’t handle anymore. Can’t do.

Dont have a job or any money at all, literally only have $5 (and well over $20k in credit card debt, in collections). Am in autistic burnout & have been for nearly 3 years now. Had quit job in May cuz burnout so bad. But still expected take care of entire family.

Live with dad & twin sister (will call twin). Dad extremely NT & able bodied, dont understand me/twin at all. Knows nothing about autism/adhd & unwilling to learn. Pays bills & does chores so that is helpful, but not willing do any other support. Doesn’t believe in mental health.

Mom & younger sister (will call younger) live with grandma. Younger is 12 yrs younger, i basically raised. Feel almost more like parent than sister. Also is best friend & person i care most about in world, would die for her. Hate seeing her suffer. Twin & younger both also autistic & adhd, and neither have job. Grandma has moderate (bordering on advanced) dementia & need 24/7 supervision & support. Younger currently has busted knee, on crutches & really struggling & lot of pain. Mom refusing to believe is as bad as is, thinks younger is exaggerating, barely helping her. Ive been having drive over nearly daily to help. Mom had multiple strokes 2 years ago, still has both cognitive & physical challenges as result, & just lost job. Mom almost deffo undiagnosed autistic/adhd but refuses to believe. Doesnt believe younger is either (she still undiagnosed, me & twin formal diagnosed recently). Mom never great person, but got much worse after strokes, is mean & bordering on verbally abusive to us (and is DEFFO verbal abusive to grandma). Also has horrible memory & cognitive issues, doesnt understand things correctly, half of what she says doesn’t make sense, makes helping her hard.

Twin sick rn, lots of stomach issue & pain. Found out few months ago has enlarged spleen, but no answer yet, cant see specialist til Dec. Twin also has medical anxiety, so hard to know for sure what is real & what isnt. Every day twin ask me for MULTIPLE favors; get things for her, do things for her, etc. Also get MULTIPLE txts every day complaining about not feeling well, yet she refuse go doctors. Counted once a few days ago: in 11 hour period, asked for 7 favors & texted 13 times about pain.

Even when not sick tho, twin basically never help. Feels like she think I “less disabled” than her, not true. I doing horribly and still have take care everyone else while she sits on couch play video games & ask me to bring her things. No one ever bring ME things. Twin NEVER return favor no matter how bad I do/how well she do. One sided only.

Today twin ask for SO MANY THINGS, CONSTANTLY. Doesnt seem to care that I not doing well either & just CANNOT handle, keeps asking anyway. I tell her how bad am doing & immediately she ask for more favors. Won’t shut up about how sick she is (feeling very “wrong” w/stomach issues, has enlarged spleen but don’t know why yet & is worried that is cause), and says she is NOT OK, and that something is VERY wrong & she is worried she is dying, but also won’t get her ass to ER. Also expect /ME/ take her AND go in with, if decides go. Told her has to ask mom or dad first. Now just won’t go, and instead just keep complain to me about how bad doing & keep asking for help with stuff.

On top of that, am constant worried about all shit mom needs to do: get grandma house in her name so can keep (rn bank gets when grandma dies due to 2nd mortgage or something idk, which will make mom & younger homeless), get grandma car in her name (mom hasnt had own car in like 6+ yrs, just uses gma’s), figure out her unemployment (applied but no check yet cuz needs submit weekly proof of job applications & doesnt know how), get guardianship for grandma (mom never even got power of attorney, and is too late now cuz grandma cant understand to sign, so rn we just stuck cuz grandma not capable make decisions, but legally we cant make for her either), update her resume, get help for grandma, etc. Most of it fall to me. Mom kind of person who just WILL NOT do things, no matter how much help u give (ex: was trying get her accommodations for her job after strokes so wouldnt lose job. Explained process multiple times, both verbally & in writing. Figured out who she needed contact for help & wrote out email for her, ALL she had do was copy & paste & send email. Didnt do it. Now fired cuz couldnt keep up w/out accommodations). Mom also no longer even ask for help, just tells us we are doing. Ex: said to me “I’m going to come over tomorrow so you can help me do my job searches for unemployment.” Just tells me I’m doing it, not even ask. Sick of it. Grandma have dementia, at point where cannot even shower or wash hands, we have no support at all, doing everything ourselves. ADRC says only way to get grandma help is to put lien on her house & sell to pay off when she dies, but mom & younger live with grandma so that would make them homeless once she dies. Says we can’t even get occasional respite care unless give up house, let alone regular in home care.

Just can’t handle anymore. Feel like am being broke into thousand pieces, or crushed by thousand lb weights. Feel stuck. Feel like no choices, no good options, no way out. Want run away. Want take younger & her cat & find cabin in woods somewhere & just go run away from everything/everyone else. But can’t, no money. Feel so stuck. No help. No support. Don’t know what do.

Stranger things 4 (vol2) ?

It broke me. And I was crying while watching it but now I'm just really mad and confused.

(1.) Like WHY did they do that to Will? He deserved better. Will was sobbing like not even a metre away from Mike but he didn't care? Also, we know that he painted that for will and not because eleven wanted him to (like she said something how she thinks its for a girl) and then Will tells Mike it's about Mike and Eleven? Really? Anyways stan Jonathan he's a real one. But seriously, the duffer brothers did Will and especially Mike so dirty, he didn't have a character development, he did that backwards. Also to Jonathan, he also deserves none of this. Let Will be happy for once tho.

(2.) Why are the duffer brothers pushing Nancy and Steve again?? Let the two rest for goddamn, Steve didn't try to forget her for like season 2-4 just for them to come back. If they would have kissed I would have been more pissed. Nancy's and Jonathans relationship is literally over, neither of them trust each other I think. Jonathan with that college thing and Nancy with Steve.

(3.) also, what's that with Robin, Nancy and Vickie? No wonder that Maya loves Ronance more than anything. I kind of thought Vickie would be a good character but she's like a copy of Robin? I mean sure, some people act the same but why couldn't they write Vickie a little more.... like an own character? I kinda like her tho, but it's a little weird to me idk. That whole queerbait thing with Robin and Nancy makes me sick. Anyway.

(4.) Eddie. I love you. They did him SO dirty. At first I didn't really get the hype but now I understand everything, he is the moment. They really filled Eddie, a new character in, just for him being killed off so no mayor character can die. No one besides Dustin was sad over his death. No one. Like he was just some random guy and not their friend. Eddie died just for him being seen as a villain to the town. Fuck off.

At least Hopper and Joyce are fine.

So all in all, fuck this season. Max deserves better. And the queerbaiting ugh. I really expected better tbh. It was great, but so many things that make me mad.

bearjin could be cooking for the boys, with her in a baby chair until she starts calling out for him through growling, and trying to be a bear herself, until he finally picks her up and snuggles her

YOONCAT WOULD DEFO TRY TO SCRUFF HER THO LIKE THERES NO WAY. he’d be overrun by his natural instincts and constantly try to bite the back of her neck, but instantly stop because every time he did, his baby would start crying :(( he would meow at her and lick her tears until she was happily giggling and saying 'kitty!'

j-dog and being a literal guarddog for her, like u said. also him putting on a red suit while shifted so he can be clifford the big red dog and watch his babys eyes light up when they see him <33

ok im gonna be honest, idk what hybrid jimin is. but i'd picture him to be like a penguin maybe. so he naturally wants to hold mc close and underneath him, so whenever he can hes holding the baby. its even worse when he's shifted, he refuses to let her go for even a second. and when any of the others try to argue about it, he says that she's happy with it and wants to snuggle with her favourite daddy ❤️

foxhyung and going beyond just stealing her attention from the others, to just straight up stealing her. like jin could be asleep with her, but wakes up babyless because taehyung woke her up mid nap saying that they're gonna play a game where they hide from everyone else, and she giggles and allows him to carry her to wherever he chooses to hide her from the other 6.

and finally, rabbitkoo, who somehow steals her attention more than tae or jimin combined. he ALWAYS tries to keep her attention on her. oh namjoon is reading to her? well jungkook is hopping across the floor while shifted, knowing she'll instantly reach for him. yoongi is trying to scent her? koo makes sure his ears are extra floppy. because he should be the main point of her attention 24/7.

then the others getting sick of koo so they ban him from seeing the baby for a day. she eventually realises she hadnt seen him all day and starts uncontrollably crying, making grabby hands and calling out 'bunny' over and over, until they lift the ban bc they cant bear to see their princess upset about anything <3

AWWW joons tail wagging when she points at him and slurrs out “puppy!” In her baby speech because yes. Yes he is her puppy. even though he could crush a man’s windpipe with his front teeth.

PLSSS THEM ALL GETTING SO HAPPY WHEN SHE ACTS LIKE THEM!! Whether on purpose or not, her trying to act like her daddies just makes them so giddy. Her making the growling noises with Jin :( purring at yoongi and Jimin :( yipping with Taehyung when she’s happy :(( shaking her head when her hair is wet like hobi does in dog form :((

He would never think of it or willingly decide to do it, but would lose his fight when all of the others are shoving his shifted version in the red suit 😭 but he’d forget about it and lick her face happily when she giggles and runs up to “clifford”

Yoongi not getting to scruff his kitten :(( he’d be so sad :( he knows he can’t do it because of how much his teeth would hurt her, but it makes him so sad that he can’t carry her up to the felines room when he wants a moment with his kitten. (I’m convinced shifted yoongi always thinks of mc as a kitten, whether she’s in little space or not) he would mimic scruffing her with his hands though, pressing down just the right amount to get her lax in the palm of his hand, satisfying his need to gather up his baby by the back of her neck.

So I’m planning for Jimin to be a tabby housecat, but a penguin is SO CUTE. Imagine him getting confused because she doesn’t fit under him like an egg or baby penguin would 🥲 He waddles up on her tummy expecting to warm her and keep her safe between his feet but he can still see her!! Wrong!! He’d be so panicked as to why his baby isn’t safe and sound between his feet :( human version would be so cute too, constantly wanting to be on top of her when she’s sleeping, casually placing her between his feet when she’s playing on the floor, slipping a pebble into her pockets before he gathers the confidence to confess to her, and seeing her holding the pebble (even if she doesn’t know what it means) satiating his need for the time being.

Koo the greedy rabbit, using his fluffy fur to steal the baby 😌 his fluffy ears would be his beacon that draws mc towards him, even at the beginning of the relationship when they’ve just moved in.

OMG IMAGINE!! imagine mc slipping into little space before the boys know about it and are developing feelings for her 🥺 they can tell somethings off with her, but can’t smell weed or alch so they’re so confused as to why she’s off balance, slurring her words together, and being so affectionate

she’s cuddling up to them on the couch, laughing extra loud at their jokes, and they swear they hear her call Jungkook bunny in her quick, fluttering speech. Jungkook rolls with it, a blush creeping across his cheeks as he tells her facts and watches her eyes dart between his twitching ears.

He goes “do you… do you want to touch them?” And leans his head down. His nose twitches as she hurried runs her fingers along his ears, and his foot thumps into the hardwood of the living room and she giggles at the fuzzy feeling.

She ends up in his lap as she gently caresses his ears, bubbly and chatty with them all (except for the uncommonly quiet Jungkook) her actions are explained away by any explanation they can think of… edibles, an all-nighter, anything that could explain it. Though, they don’t really care about any explanation when she falls asleep in Jungkooks lap, her hands curling around his and a small whisper of “bunny” on her lips.

imagine if eventually r can't take being Wands assistant anymore, being close to her everyday but not being with her, so r decides to quit and hands Wanda her 2 weeks notice and some recommendations for other assistants bc she stills wants Wanda to be taken care of and then R gets a job with Natasha Romanoff, who is kinda like a nemesis to Wanda and she knows R knows that so she is hurt but also regretful that she drove R away into the arms of her rival

maybe Nat and R start getting closer but R's heart will always belong to Wanda, so maybe Nat realizes this and tries to help R build confidence in who she is and believe she is worthy of a relationship and persuing her dreams of being a Producer rather than just a personal assistant

Meanwhile Wanda is stuck with Agatha as her assistant and she is sick of her bc Agatha is a bit condescending and apparently can't stand celebrities ('why do you work with celebrities if you hate them so much, Harkness?' 🤨) and at least Agatha is blunt with Wanda when she finds out about her history with R, telling her that real love is hard to find in the industry and she shouldn't let others define who she is and what she can do (who she can do)

eventually maybe probably they make their way back to each other and end up being a power couple in the industry :)

!!!!!! omg that's so sad wanda missing you so much while you're working with some other celebrity wanda has always sort of seen as better than her in some respects, while her new assistant is super condescending and belittling T_T

when i was planning out some parts in the celebrity wanda series that i wanted to happen i actually did imagine you leaving wanda to do something else, tho i never imagined you'd just be switching bosses and wanda would be getting a new assistant!!

wanda would try and get you back through legal means though, trying her hardest to find any kind of loophole or stipulation in your contact that would force you to stay with her, even if only for a few extra weeks

and in my mind i always imagined wanda would be the kind of person who has a reallyyy hard time expressing her emotions, so she always ends up teasing you and protecting her own emotions but telling other people she doesn't care very much for you

so when you tell her you're quitting you mention something about how you know she doesn't like you and that she won't have to put up with you anymore etc etc which puts wanda in such a difficult place because then she also feels pressured to sort out her feelings for you to be able to tell you how much she really values you

omg idk what would happen at the end though.. maybe something cheesy like a confession in the rain or something like that to stick with the whole theme of acting and cinema because in my mind i always imagined celebrity wanda as an actress (which kind of makes me think of a chapter where you get jealous of a sex scene wanda has to do... 😳)

Thirteen Era Rewatch: War of the Sontarans

I'm re-watching Thirteen's era in lead up to the Centenary and since this is likely going to be my last full re-watch for a while I thought I'd do a post on each ep where I just go over all the things I love, hate or just have some general thoughts on.

When S13 aired I made a posts similar to this after re-watching each ep before the next one came out. The War of the Sontarans post can be found HERE.

It’s fluid! The use of the word ‘fluid’ here is cool and feels important. Like it a lot

I love Dan having a moment of wait is this real and 13 being like kinda sarcastic in her response. I feel she has a no dumb questions policy. Like when ppl are shook at the TARDIS and says ‘it’s not possible’ she’s like obviously it is possible’

Part of me loves that Yaz has WWTDD on her hand but another part of me is like… it’s kinda cringe. And it’s also bold as fuck. Like surely the Doctor has seen that?? Idk. It’s a cool way to represent what Yaz is feeling/thinking but it’s also a bit ridiculous imo

I feel like Time being completely ran by a race(?) of women is a Choice

Made a teeet when the Queen died about how 13 wouldn’t give a fuck but idk maybe she’s a Queen hater after all

13’s vibe when talking to the Sontaran is 10/10. It’s fully like she’s having a great time messing with and intimidating him

I know ppl love to cry about in the last ep Yaz said former police officer but in this ep she said ‘formally known as..’ but I really don’t see the issue. It’s obviously bc Vinder just introduced himself with a long ass title and she wanted to be more on his level and show she also knew what she was doing. Her being like ‘lol yeah I’m not anymore tho’ wouldn’t exactly have done he any favours. Ppl blow this wayyyy out of proportion tbh. Literally just think about it for two seconds and it’s a non issue

I looove how sick of the General guy 13 is. Also ngl I love seeing the Doctor be treated lesser bc she’s a woman lmao

Also the whole first Sontaran confrontation is amazing. I think it had a good balance of seriousness and also Sontaran ridiculousness

I love this scene

I think I used to be like ‘lol he’s jealous that the Doctor chooses humans over him’ and I do still get that vibe a tiny bit but it also just feels like straight up he doesn’t get why 13 likes humans generally rather it being ‘why does she like humans over me specifically’ Either way this is a cool scene. Swarm (and Azure) feel like very powerful villains so far. I know some people don’t like they end up. I don’t remember how I felt about them, guess we’ll see soon lmao

I also love the scene where 13 going back to her uni lecturer roots. You can tell she just loves to talk at people for lengths of time lmao

Overall a solid ep, one of the best of the series probably. I think I just love that this ep is more focused on a more contained story whereas 13.01 was introducing us to a bunch of stuff. I also looove 13’s vibe in this ep. She always acts a nit different when she’s not around her companions. I also don’t really mind that Yaz and 13 and Dan spend so much time apart. I think it’s a shame a little bit but also the story we’re getting from is great so I can’t be too annoyed.

This feels kinda like one of those eps where I don’t have too many specific things to say bc I just enjoy basically all of it and would be listing off every scene being like ‘yeah this is 10/10’ and that would be long lmao

OK!! so all throughout finals week i kept thinking about alceste because of The Pain and radiation therapy because of The Exam, so my brain combined them, voila alceste set in the radiology department (nicky as far as niche things go this is surely something)

Alceste is a type of Orfeo ed Euridice: you have the beloved who's not quite dead and the lover whose actions that bring about the story can only stem from their love. You have the somewhat present god who offers a bargain to the lover to bring back the beloved from the dead. And finally you have the clause of not telling the beloved about the bargain. ANYWAY. That's the 3 main elements.

So the Alceste set in the radiology department would primarily incorporate the Euripidean origins of the opera while retaining some ties to show the interpretation in the modern world. We keep the Euripidean """fantastical"""" world because like Orfeo, Alceste represents a fantasy: to bring someone from the dead. You've got Alceste and Admeto who are idk rad tech / medical physicist because they hold relative power in the radiology dept but they dont over matters of life and death. Admeto is dying etc etc except now the context is radiation induced (btw dyk they have this estimate for how long radiation professionals cut down their lives and its BS at this point but y'know. Stochastic effects) which presents something interesting to me because radiation induced means he brought it on himself, like the myth and the play, and also because treating it only means he'll survive and most likely die of it later, when he's older. So it's a terminal thing at least. So Alceste gets the news and its already all blurring into a picture where the foreground is still the hospital, probably Admeto is on a LINAC, but the backdrop is a combination of ancient greece and a hospital. It's dreamlike, because again, its a fantasy, either the audience's or Alceste's.

So the oracle proclaims the bargain etc etc no one will die for Admeto (both in a hospital setting and in Thessaly). She just goes on prepping the machine maybe while she makes the bargain in the forest. NOW HERES WHY I KNOW THIS WORKS AS A SETTING. As a rad tech she has to administer the dose, i.e. she gives the treatment to her husband while she herself is exposed to radiation i.e. she's trading her life for his. it's a long term commitment tho which she probably assumes but the shades tell her she's going to die right there and then she asks for time. insert acute radiation syndrome, maybe on the GI system (i'll explain later!!). Back in the hospital Admeto is feeling better (disclaimer unfortunately this doesnt happen irl the client will most likely feel nauseous after a treatment round) and yay theyre rejoicing but bam Alceste's feeling sick (in radiation sickness GI system level this is what we call the manifest illness stage. the latent stage for GI ARS can last a few hours to days) so the relief that turns into horror scene goes thru and Admeto leaves to bargain with the gods. or the doctors. Alceste is reaching the end of the manifest illness stage and this is followed by either recovery or death. She's being given transfusions supportive care etc all until the 3rd act. Admeto is outside the room because its ARS and thats a major safety breach. Theyre mourning outside with the kids and with Alceste inside and then bam she dies. cue the mourning again and Admeto goes mad, maybe tries to get into the room where her body is and then Apollo deux ex machina saves everyone Alceste recovers (you can recover from GI ARS with proper care) and the opera finishes. Theyre both permanently disabled btw, but theyre alive.

If you read until here you may have noticed this was just a major infodump on radiation safety and radiation induced effects. Dont play with radiation :)) even if its for an opera!

Ohhh ahh anon asking the real questions TT_TT honestly?? no idea. I haven't thought of it. But this is a perfectly good moment to start 👀

I think she would be... super mad lmao. Like obviously, she's mad with him in canon, but it's kinda worse now since his... inbred offspring is a constant reminder of his perversion in the house, and also because lol fucking their other sister is probably worse than being mildly unpleasant and *checks notes* causing you to cause a hurricane, on accident, over 21 years ago :) I mean... I always got the impression that Pepa resented Bruno for random shit to like bury the grief and loss that has haunted her since his departure :D idk how much of it is headcanon, theory or plausible interpretation but it makes sense to me, that she actually missed him a lot. That's why she dropped everything as soon as she actually saw him.

But this?? This crosses a line, right? The anger is much more genuine. She doesn't want to see him. Doesn't want to speak to him. She might even tell him to leave. She feels disgusted, sick, betrayed by two of the people she thought she could trust the most... for the first time, she firmly believes that Bruno never really cared about the family. He's just a sick, lonely, miserable fucker.

Though I admit I'm much more interested in Pepa's relationship with Julieta, because she's the character whose status changes the most in this AU. In canon, Julieta seemed to be the only one of her siblings who could stand up to Alma, she was reliable, trustworthy, responsible etc. Julieta had people's respect. She had their mother's respect. Now tho? She's lost everything. Her mistake turned her into a pariah. Alma no longer listens to her; she dismisses her concerns and remarks whenever she tries to speak up. People don't turn to her for guidance. She still has her husband on her side, and that's out of sheer luck and Agustín being an amazing person, because someone less forgiving would have rightfully slammed a door on her face - which is what Pepa winds up doing. Again, she feels betrayed, but while she always had something against Bruno... Julieta was someone she had always trusted and relied on. Big sister (not so big in age but like, in spirit). She could always open up to Julieta, she could always talk, could always find a shoulder to cry on. She thought she knew her but this... this just shows she didn't know her sister at all. How long? For how many years did she hide this? How many decades? How could she? How could her siblings do such a thing? How could they be so sick? What happened? How did she miss it?

For the first time, she blames Julieta just as much as she blames Bruno, and with Alma's support, it escalates from there: she disencourages her children from spending too much time with her, she talks shit behind her back, she acts rude, inconsiderate and insensitive towards her... passive-aggressive comments here and there and cruel remarks that get no reaction out of Julieta but sad, defeated eyes.

I think that, just like how she buried her grief over Bruno's loss with anger, she masks her feeling of pain and betrayal with cruelty here, too. She feels like she's lost both her siblings. They betrayed the family. And she misses them terribly; misses the relationship they had, the trust, the happiness and love, and wonders if it had all been tainted from the start. When was their last "good" memory together? When did Bruno and Julieta's relationship change? Were they together in their 30s? In their 20s? Their teens? Pepa has no way to know. She's too scared to ask. She just wishes she could have them back ;-;

Jesus Christ .. S makes me feel sick.. he did visit me .. after I begged him to.. because he said he had other plans .. I told him I wasn’t going to beg but I did. Sigh.. how did I get myself into this mess.. first off I feel like he wasn’t even going to visit me it was more like he just wanted a place to stay after going to a concert in my area.. I had offered to go with him even tho the music wasn’t my thing. .. but alas I bought my ticket and went .. he came over to my place for a little before the show.. .. he was tired so he took a nap in my lap and I was just play with his hair. When he first saw me he didn’t give me a kiss or anything.. before we left my place to go to the show I was about to give him a kiss because I asked for one and he said yes and right before he changed his mind because I had lipstick on and he didn’t want to get it on him.. when we drove over there we just talked about random things .. and whatnot .. when we were walking to the venue.. he had told me he hopes he doesn’t see his ex gf there since she likes that kind of music and in my head I started getting the ick… he began to tell me how he has a restraining order against her and another girl.. and I’m like mhmmm… I wonder why , he explained how this girl was so obsessed with him and would stalk him and when he rejected her because he had a gf she went and told his gf a that he had cheated and was emotionally abusive.

At the show he didn’t let me hold his hand and when I was anxious he didn’t let me hold his hand .

Fast forward we go get food after the show he buys me something even tho I said I wasn’t really hungry .

We get home and he showers and gets ready for bed and I do too it pretty late and when I get out of the shower and he’s on his phone and he’s laying down and I start cuddling him and he’s like “ should we turn off the light?” And I’m like no I want to stay up a bit and he said he wanted to sleep .. so we cuddled and all.. it’s was mostly me cuddling him . .. and he fell asleep ..

He woke up at 5:30 am and he said he had to go because he got called into work, and I said if he could stay for 10 min and he said no.. I laid down and told him “ do you even like me? Because you just act like you don’t like you didn’t even hold my hand yesterday or try anything” and he said he was just tired (he didn’t even apologize) and I was laying down and he hugged me and said he will be back. And while he pulled away he said to text him when I wake up and I said” you’re not going to give me a kiss bye?” And then he kissed me and told me not to think too much about it. I walked him to the door and gave him a kiss on the cheek and he kissed my cheek I think ( I was on the brink of tears and sleepy) … he had left and I just went to bed and cried .. I did send him a long ass message about how I felt and he never replied.

I think he is not going to reply , I really wan to say something so petty .. “like maybe those girls were onto something saying you were emotionally abusive and I guess I dodged a built” and I KNOW he’s going to say something like “ I don’t owe you anything” which if I’m being honest I think he does after me being so nice and patient with him. And I know those girls made him traumatized but . I want to be so vindictive to get a reaction out of him. .. just to get his attention but idk .. I’m tired and he just stresses me out
