This actually really nicely matches my idea that while he was in the big full of black concrete hole the black concrete entity somehow fucked with his brain, possibly possessing him, kinda like with Forever but somewhere not visible if there's any on his skin. Pre-masters programmes are specifically designed for international students who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry to a masters programme in the UK.  It is often a perfect option for people that have already got considerable work experience and need to deepen their skills and expertise in a specific field but don’t have a first degree.

If you've had your eye on studying a postgraduate qualification, and particularly a masters degree you'd have encountered pre-masters programmes in your research. Sometimes it’s not always easy to know the differences between the qualifications and courses on offer and why you'd need to apply or enrol for a pre-masters programme. We hope that the following information will help answer your questions.

What are Pre-Masters programmes?

Pre-masters programmes provide international students with a path to a wide variety of postgraduate degrees at UK universities.  In addition to a particular subject focus such as business, law or engineering, these programmes offer you the tutorial tools needed for study at postgraduate level in the UK.  These tools include academic writing, attentive listening skills, and knowledge of specific subject & academic vocabulary, all of which will give you the confidence for your future studies.

Pre-masters programmes generally take one academic year (9 months) to complete and lead to entry to postgraduate study in September or January. 

What are the entry requirements for a pre-masters?

To enrol on a pre-masters programme, you will need to satisfy a variety of entry requirements. These can vary from programme to programme and also depend on the postgraduate subject area that the pre-masters leads to.  Common entry requirements include:

Recognised higher/advanced diploma in a related discipline

Degree from your country in any discipline

Significant work experience in a related field

You will also need to show that you have an English level equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (some programmes may accept an English level of IELTS 5.5)

What subjects will I study on a pre-masters programme?

Pre-masters programmes have two main objectives, to prepare you for study at postgraduate level in English and to give you a background in the subject area that you intend to study.

So the pre-masters that you choose will depend on the subject you want to study a masters degree in.  Therefore if you want to study an MA in Business Management you would take a pre-masters in Business that will give you an introduction to topics such as Finance,Business Strategy,  Leadership, Enterprise & Innovation and Sustainable Risk Management.

To help you prepare for study at masters level you will also study the specific English academic skills you will need.  So for a pre-masters in Business, these would include skills such as academic writing (including essay writing, bibliography referencing, and  structuring a business case), vocabulary and specialist terminology required in business fields.  You will also learn critical thinking and analytical skills which will help you to clearly present complex business arguments.

Why study a pre-masters?

Studying at a masters degree level is a major step even if you have already studied at the subject at undergraduate level.  This is an even greater step if you decide to change direction and study a different subject than you studied at undergraduate level.

Through a pre-masters programme, you will develop a solid knowledge of the topics  which you'll need for postgraduate study. Plus by the time you complete the course you will have learnt how to write essays, compose bibliographies, and clearly outline your ideas, strategies and theories.  Finally and importantly you will have  improved  your English proficiency to the level required for your masters programme and ensure that you get the most from your future study.

Where to study your pre-masters?

 If you take your pre-masters in an English-speaking country you'll get the opportunity  to live in a foreign country whilst studying.

One important point to consider when deciding to take a pre-masters or masters programme in a foreign country is which country or city you choose to study in.  There is a large range of options out there to choose from so we recommend that you do some research to find a course and also a destination and student environment that suits you the best.  This research will help to avoid any disappointment when you arrive.

Datenschutzbeauftragter unterliegt gegen Verwaltung

Verfahren ohne wirkliche Prozessbeteiligte

FragDenStaat stellt seit Jahren für betroffene Anfragen an Behörden und veröffentlicht die Antworten damit alle die Information nutzen können. Das könnte den Behörden Arbeit ersparen, so dass nicht mehrfach Anfragen zu den gleichen Dokumenten bearbeitet werden müssen.

Nun ist es mit diesem Fortschritt in der Informationsfreiheit vorbei und FragDenStaat schreibt uns: Am 21. März entschied das Bundesverwaltungsgericht in einem Verfahren zwischen dem Bundesbeauftragten für Informationsfreiheit und dem Bundesinnenministerium, dass anonyme Anträge nach dem Informationsfreiheitsgesetz (IFG) unzulässig sind. Behörden können jetzt grundsätzlich bei jedem Antrag Name und Postadresse von Antragsteller*innen verlangen. Und sie können dann ihre Antworten vornehmlich per Post senden, auch wenn man ausdrücklich um digitalen Schriftverkehr bittet.

FragDenStaat wurde an dem Verfahren nicht beteiligt. Damit legt das Bundesverwaltungsgericht die Axt ans IFG – und an FragDenStaat! Dieses Urteil hat entscheidende Folgen für FragDenStaat: Es schreckt Menschen ab, ihr Informationsrecht wahrzunehmen: 13 Jahre lang war es möglich, über FragDenStaat anonym Anfragen an Behörden zu stellen. Jede*r konnte grundsätzlich die E-Mail-Kommunikation über unsere Plattform erledigen, ohne dass der angegebene Name überprüft werden musste. Wenn nun eine Postadresse verlangt wird, werden wohl viele ihre Anträge zurückziehen – vor allem marginalisierte Gruppen.

Es führt zu weniger Informationen für die Allgemeinheit: FragDenStaat.de ist als Wissensarchiv für alle Menschen an den Start gegangen. Antworten auf Anfragen sollen veröffentlicht werden, damit alle die Information nutzen können. Den Behörden spart das Arbeit, wenn nicht mehrfach Anfragen zu den gleichen Dokumenten eintrudeln. Wenn Antworten zukünftig nur noch per Post verschickt werden, können sie nicht mehr einfach mit einem Klick für alle zugänglich gemacht werden. Die Idee von FragDenStaat wird mit Füßen getreten.

Letztlich stritten sich die beiden Behörden also wesentlich um den Umgang mit Anfragen über FragDenStaat – aber ohne unsere Beteiligung. Das Innenministerium bekämpft seit vielen Jahren unsere Plattform und weigert sich, darüber zu antworten. Der Bundesbeauftragte wollte währenddessen durchsetzen, dass Behörden weniger Daten von Antragsteller*innen erheben. Unsere Bemühungen, an dem Verfahren beteiligt zu werden, damit die Funktionsweise der Plattform richtig dargestellt wird, wurden auf perfide Art abgewiesen.

Das Bundesverwaltungsgericht hat in den letzten Jahren das IFG immer weiter geschwächt – etwa durch Urteile, mit denen horrende Gebühren zugelassen wurden oder mit der Entscheidung, dass digitale Informationen wie SMS nicht herausgegeben werden müssen. Es wird Zeit, dass dieses geschwächte IFG durch ein starkes Transparenzgesetz ersetzt wird. Seit Jahren verspricht die Ampel-Koalition einen entsprechenden Gesetzentwurf, dieses Jahr soll er wohl endlich kommen. Mit unserem Bündnis fordern wir: Anträge auf Informationen müssen auch ohne Postadresse möglich sein!

Zugleich arbeiten wir aktuell mit Hochdruck daran, es unseren Nutzer*innen einfacher zu machen, Post von Behörden bei ihren Anfragen hochzuladen. Denn Antworten sollten weiterhin digital für alle zugänglich sein – auch wenn das bedeutet, dass wir alle gemeinsam diese Aufgabe erst einmal übernehmen müssen.

FragDenStaat fordert: Bleibt mit uns dran!

Sobald das ausführliche Gerichtsurteil öffentlich ist, werden wir unsere nächsten Schritte angehen. Fest steht: Wir möchten sicherzustellen, dass der Zugang zu Informationen allen Menschen zugute kommt. Dazu werden wir unsere Plattform erweitern und, wo nötig, klagen.

Here’s Mayv! Kraw’s adoptive mom. She’s wrestling a Glow Gullet Gator. She kind of owns a mutated gator farm on the side, purely for a love of the creatures (and they’re good as guard dogs)

Here’s a little intro for her ⬇️

She taught him all he knows about being a sea hunter and how to process and use mermaids for their organs and oils. She is a hunter first, an apothecary second and a ‘beast tamer’ third.

She found herself as an escapee when she was younger, commandeering a trawler boat with her two sons and a few other humans aboard. Whatever she was running from, she attempted to lose it by sailing straight across Hellmouth, unknown dangers be damned. A strange storm blew her off course however and in the process she lost both her sons and some of her crew.

The boat ended up beaching in the delta of a swamp that belonged to the “Lady of the Shades”, a mysterious harpy witch that gave Mayv her alligator-like appearance in exchange for safety. The swamp was called “Shades of Acheron”, located on the northeast edge of Hellmouth.

Mayv replaced her sons with Kraw and Titus. she found Kraw hiding within the swamp, his little hollowed out log lair surrounded by half eaten crawfish shells that earned him his name.

She ran their encampment and household with an iron fist but a loving and boisterous nature. It was mostly her training that Kraw deeply detested. More often than not, out on the sea she seemed to blur the lines between treating Kraw and Titus like her children and treating them like militant hunting hounds.

i watched a Tale Foundry about what makes magic magical, and now i have Kokichi being philosophical in my head

the idea in the video is that magic is the acceptance of the unexplainablity of something- it's magical not just becuase you don't know how it works, but because you accept that how it works is impossible. if you assume something you don't understand has an explanation, it fails to be magical. and now i'm thinking about Kokichi thinking about this and realizing his life lacks any kind of magic and wonder in it because he can't stand not understanding, and his brain refuses to let him accept the unexplainable

he wears himself thin trying to put logic to things he doesn't understand, and by doing this sucks the magic out of his life. he knows the magic is there because of the wonder in people's eyes, but his hunger for knowledge and control over things in his life has barred him from that same whimzy and wonder. he forces superfical forms of magic into his life with his lies, entertaining ideas that have no rhyme or reason to them, but they don't hit the same way cause he made them and understands them to a degree, so they become more twisted over time as he tries to recreate that magic for himself

the insane duality of a trickster who's world is made up of equations and logic, longing for a sense of magic he'll never get back, and pushing himself further away from it in his attempts to draw it closer. he may be capable of bringing magic to others, but it is a thing he'll never have for himself again
