as much as i love the new resurgence of ageswap partakers i have to put in my two cents: mob would not start the Spirits & Such agency
for starters, he would be good at it. i mean, he has psychic powers. he’d be a legit psychic. part of the comedic value (and i guess plot value in general) is the psychic kid working for and believing a fraud who can’t even see spirits. you could argue he’d do bad at the consultations part and that’s where my second point comes in
never in a million years would Mob ever start a career based on his psychic powers. he kind of rejected the idea of being a magician when ritsu suggested it. mostly because he lacked the charisma most magicians had. also i swear he’s said that he doesn’t want to depend on his powers for any domestic task, so why would he start a psychic business.
one last nit-pick from me, if reigen was never around for mob when he needed him the most, i don’t think mob would be… out in society? like the advice Reigen gave to him when he was ten was absolutely crucial and i doubt anyone else would’ve said that to him. I personally believe mob would more or less be in serizawa’s shoes. He hurts Ritsu, someone who he cares very deeply about, and without Reigens guidance, locks himself in his room. Whatever happens next, up for you to decide (cough cough i haven’t figured it out)
SO who runs the psychic business then? Who starts Spirits n Such? Well, who else doesn’t have psychic powers? who else wants to be involved in the supernatural? who else wants to do something with their life? Tome.
Tome Kurata starts Spirits n Such

On the Jedi code: it frustrates me a bit how much the line “there is no emotion, there is peace” is misconstrued by people who have a superficial understanding of what the code is and what it is for. If you read that and think “how dare they invalidate my feelings, I have lots of important emotions, ignoring them is unhealthy and cruel!” you are not placing the words in the proper context. Think of the final line, “there is no death, there is the Force.” Death is obviously real, everybody dies, we know that to be true. To deny that would be to deny a fundamental part of reality.
So what does the line even mean? As I understand it, the code is about shifting perspective from the personal to the larger picture, stepping away and reorienting oneself with a clearer picture of objective reality. It’s a meditation tool to be able to remember you exist within a larger context and regain perspective about where you are inside that context. There are emotions inside each individual, yes, but in the Force as a whole, there is harmony and peace.
It’s not that your emotions aren’t valid, it’s just that they are a private, subjective, internal experience, and it can be helpful to remember that our reactions and feelings aren’t facts, they aren’t objectively true. If you remember the code when you are upset, it helps you process those emotions by comparing them with reality, and prevents you from acting irrationally. If you remember that the Force is always there and always peaceful, you can always find that peace when you look beyond yourself.
Again, death is real, everyone dies, but each individual death is a private experience. Taking a step back and remembering that the Force is eternal and undying, you can release the ego and find peace in the underlying stability and embrace of the Force. So yes, there ARE emotions, but internally. Externally, there is peace, and the Jedi code is a tool to help meditation, not an invalidation of anyone’s feelings.
The inability to see beyond yourself, denying the importance of objective reality in favor of your own feelings (“peace is a lie, there is only passion”) is a meditation that turns someone inward instead of outward, and strengthens the ego and encourages selfishness. It gives you permission to live in a world parallel to reality, where your story of grievance is fact, and not just a narrative in your mind. It gives you permission to hurt people in service of that narrative. It is the mentality of a Sith, and it is not something to be proud of.

things I would do if I had infinite money
1. Shoot a live action tv adaptation of TAZ Amnesty
2. Write a mass-market paperback series set in the TAZ Dust universe
3. Develop a campy RPG video game inspired by TAZ Ethersea
4. Adapt TAZ Graduation into a middle-grade children’s fantasy series

Option #2 for future Omi (option 1 here) and the one that I am imagining fits a little better with the OG Omi/is the ‘happy’ outcome (at least for this point in his life…). And definitely the one I have thought about the most (lol look at all the notes!)
He’s grown in a lot of ways (less hard on himself, more willing to acknowledge faults, has found a good balance between letting himself be himself and being loyal to his friends) but in others he has maybe…well, not ‘regressed’ but decided to actually be a little more selfish. He’s less looking for others approval and more ‘realizing I actually am good enough to exist without approval that will never come and appreciated those who do see me for what I’m worth’. Which is a bit of a tricky place to be since it definitely has led to him not being willing to listen to criticism that he should definitely be listening to from the other Dragons.
It has led to a bit of distance between them all, especially since Omi is also in a stage of his life where he is being a bit more serious in his academics (I know he has always been serious but it’s a difference between childish seriousness and actual full investment in a project) even if he is having more fun in the battlefield. (He is definitely creating and testing out new martial arts moves left and right and is becoming quite prolific with it. At the rate he is going his martial arts moves are going to out-number Dashi’s Wu count!).
When push comes to shove though Omi always comes through to help the other dragons and has never left them high and dry (ha!). Still, there are worrying cracks that are hard to ignore…
Additional note: Omi’s hair is definitely a byproduct of a wu that he decided to keep~
Anyway happy Halloween 🤣

A bonus Molly sketch from my gilded cage things! Given the circumstances for Molly in particular during chapter 4 and the fact that Dutch being the way he is would likely just use her as an accessory for the evening I can’t imagine her having a good time, but at least the dress is pretty

disclaimer i’m fine with my gender, whatever.
but i want to be a man in the way that the people of the internet will ship me with my longtime rival/maybe friend/begrudging enemy who is also a man. like i just can’t experience that level of romance as a cis woman.
i just wanna have what those two fruits from the x-men have and i’m never gonna have it because i’m a woman. people take every interaction between a man and a woman as inherently romantic or sexual and i don’t want that! i want it to be earned.

Nene, Ichika & The Little Mermaid
The Prince hears the Little Mermaid singing. but she runs (or. swims) off before he can get a clear look at her. enamoured by her voice, he decides he must find her. When they meet next, the Little Mermaid is unable to speak. Eventually, she regains her voice and they live happily ever after together.
this is, of course, a gross oversimplification of the story. but at its barest bones, that’s the story.
Ichika hears Nene singing. but she runs off before he can get a clear look at Ichika. enamoured by her voice, she decides she must find her. When they meet next, Nene, with her social anxiety, finds it hard to speak. Eventually, Ichika approaches Nene when she’s alone, and they’re now able to speak to eachother.
Nene is compared to The Little Mermaid a lot. Ichika is her Prince. They fit the story. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk

My experience with the Zadr community:
Tw:Proshipping/children in s3xual situations/ possible grooming
I love Zadr, I think the ship’s great and has a lot of depth and potential, but omfg I hate most of the community surrounding it. Like, I remember talking to a (particularly well known) zadr artist when I was 14 on an old account on here and she basically tried getting me into proshipping, allowed for me to watch her nsfw art streams despite knowing I was a minor, and only after I found her nsfw twt (which had full on drawn C-heese P-izza on it) did I finally delete my account and block her. Before anyone asks, I don’t have screenshots of any of my interactions with said user due to me being a scared 14 year old and not knowing at the time of it was really as big of an offense as I felt it was. I’m also not going to give their username as I don’t want any unwanted attention from her fans because ultimately this isn’t about exposing anyone, it’s just my experiences in this sub-fandom. I’ve had a lot of positive interactions with people in the zadr community, but I have to say my experience with this one particular person might be the worst I’ve ever had from any fandom I’ve been in (yes, I’m apart of the MLP fandom and I was apart of the DSMP and MHA fandom at one point). The thing was that I idolized this person and when she followed me, I felt like I really accomplished something, and when we began messaging each other, that sense of pride only grew. I have to reiterate that this isn’t a hit-piece or anything like that, this (again) is just my experience and nothing more.
Please be careful online.

Can we just talk about how realistic and relatable DreamWorks made the characters of HTTYD?
Here are some things I noticed:
(Go to the end for the TLDR)
Appearance
In HTTYD1, the kids look like actual kids. Their bodies are lanky and/or awkward. Arms too long, heads too big, bodies not yet accustomed to their appendages. They’re all in that awkward teenage stage in their lives where some parts of your body are growing faster than the rest.
Their skin as well. Their skin is dirty with visible “imperfections” and spots. Hiccup is a good example of this, as he’s seen with a large amount of freckles, some darker than others, and tiny bristles of stubble on his chin as well as his scar. His freckles aren’t visible only on his face, but on his hands as well.
Their teeth aren’t perfectly straight either. Multiple people are seen with crooked and even missing teeth.
This makes them ask the more relatable.
Expressions
The facial expression made by the characters of the HTTYD verse are extremely realistic and similar to expressions you’ll see in day to day life.
When they’re happy, their eyes widen and they smile in a way that’s unique to each individual (i.e. Hiccup’s smiles are always lopsided, and Astrid’s smile only show her top teeth)
When they’re confused or intrigued, their heads tilt to the side and their eyebrows furrow downwards slightly.
When they’re sad or regretful, their eyebrows once again furrow but upwards this time. Their eyes widen and grow misty, and their mouths either open or tighten as a way to show the vulnerability being caused by the emotions.
Gestures
As pointed out by Astrid in the second movie, Hiccup gestures with his hands and shoulders a lot. But it’s not just home. Everyone has body language that is actually readable to the viewers, clueing then in to how certain characters are feeling. Some use certain parts of their bodies to emphasize what they’re saying
(Hiccup uses the entirety of his arms and shoulders, occasionally even his entire body to get emotions across, while Astrid uses her head to communicate. Turning it this way and that, shaking it or nodding as she talks for the same reasons Hiccup uses his hands to talk, to get her emotions across)
Aging
The way the characters age is not exaggerated or all that unrealistic, no matter how much it seems like it is.
Teenhood is the primary time for bodily change. Jawlines sharpen, hair texture and color can change, eye color can shift. They grow taller, their bodies become more developed and balanced in certain places, filling out in thinning depending on the area. All of this happens to the teens, and it’s apparent. But they still retain the features they has when they were younger. If one was to put them side by side with their younger selves, you would be able to the see not only the differences, but the similarities as well.
I also like how some grew more than others. Like how one of the tallest became the shortest because the shortest hit a growth spurt and became the tallest. They didn’t maintain the heights they had when they were kids, but they also didn’t grow too much or too little for it to be unreasonable.
Speech
The way the VA’s handled their roles was amazing and so fluent and natural. It felt less like a script being read off, loud and emphasized, and more like a conversation. Quiet or loud depending on the mood, muttering in ways that everyone has at least once, and stuttering during stressful situations but never overdoing it. Humming in acknowledgment or using shortened versions of words when it was appropriate and never over doing it.
All this made the characters feel so alive.
TLDR; DreamWorks did a great job at bringing the characters of the greatest animated movie trilogy in cinematic history to life.
