I was going through some posts I missed and came across the “tatsumi is mature but still does 19 year old things” and I just wanna say I’ve never been able to put it into words when my friends ask but like. That’s exactly what I love about this game.

We’ve got scandals and drama and weird crypto currencies and convoluted backstories of implied murder or identity theft or military shit or relations to underground gang activity or so SO much more and yet the writers still succeed in reminding you that this is a game full of high schoolers.

Natume was one of the five oddballs and suffered through so much during the war where it affects him to this day, but he also refers to his tech savvy and love of the occult as magic and loves the junior he “adopted” to death. Despite Aira struggling against every odd to become a real idol he still buys merch and looks on the internet to look for content of the ones he likes. Rinne was destined to become the monarch of his homeland but ran away in an attempt to find happiness and acceptance and is an amazing strategist who uses it to take down corruption, but his sense of humor is entirely made up of sex jokes and romantic teasing like Aira being “hiiro’s little girlfriend”. The amount of characters that assign themselves the mom friend role just because. Trickstar. I don’t think I need to explain Trickstar-

Like this game has made me cry so many times and it has its ridiculous moments but it also has its genuine ones while also being the most teenage shit I’ve seen in my life and I feel like so few media can balance those and still have a decent story like that. Sorry for the long ass post I just have so many feelings about this kind of stuff 😭

YEAH this is exactly what i was talking about in a previous ask when i said i have nothing meaningful to add to the enstars cast that isnt a headcanon . its all very well thought out and the interpersonal relationships are nuanced enough to feel realistic but outlandish enough to be interesting .

worldbuilding and character design is one of my special interests and i say this any chance i can get: the most important part of building a character (and a story in general) is realizing the importance of comedic irony and comedy as a whole regardless of genre or tone. it makes characters feel more 3 dimensional and relatable because people arent stagnant and theres multiple facets to any individuals personality (this is also why some of the most popular animes of all time have filler episodes or funny bits that show the characters personalities, every event hits with 3x emotional impact the more you know about the characters as people but that's a different discussion) enstars does a really good job of this . like for example if wataru were to have had a realistic reaction to eichi starting the war it wouldnt be nearly as good of a story. the fact that eichis ridiculous ass backwards plan to get wataru to fall in love with him actually worked is a perfect example of comedy used to make a story more interesting. another thing similar to this is how sometimes its better to not detail something and let characters do things for a mundane reason or even no reason at all . for example subaru hating chiaki just because he annoys him, or shinobu being on the broadcasting team despite his character not being associated with technology otherwise and therefore having no real backstory on why he likes radio stuff. its all really well planned worldbuilding with an insane amount of subtle details , which is why enstars is one of my favorite stories to analyze . the only thing i could possibly want more out of it is hardcore tragedy but thats entirely a personal preference rather than a critique because im a slut for catharsis and i love sad endings , especially ones where characters die . (don't worry im in therapy)

Hi guys, I am back on the Chiaki tag. Yes, I'm analyzing him again and sort of picking up on a point I mentioned in my last post.

I think there's an interesting divide in how Chiaki acts in front of the other Yumenosaki graduates versus the rest of Ryuseitai (yes, even Kanata). He has this serious, no-nonsense personality that he tends to conceal in front of Ryuseitai, because he needs to act like "Ryusei Red," but this other side leaks out more in front of the other graduates. You can see this clearly in stories where he isn't interacting with his unit.

Chiaki's more complex than people make him out to be, especially if they don't know a lot about Ryuseitai and think he's some dense hero. In reality, he's an extremely perceptive person. This is a given, considering one of the main roles that he imposes upon himself is to read the emotions of the people he cares about, so even if he comes across as brash and pushy, there's this indirect sense of "I need to look over them and make sure they're all okay." His pushy, energetic personality disguises how he discreetly tries to read into situations with startling accuracy, defending the people he loves most.

In fact, he was so perceptive that he refused to let anything bad happen to Ryuseitai anymore after the events of Comet Show, thwarting Gatekeeper's move to try to alarm Madara of the false information that Kanata had been enshrined as a god again during Submarine.

Moreover, I'm of the opinion that Chiaki knew that he didn't do the best thing by reclaiming the leader role, but at the same time, the reason why he did so makes more sense in the context of the situation; he is trying to make Ryuseitai last at all costs, and he won't let the corruption of the idol industry take them down. While Chiaki does have a problem with taking things on his own, something that gets on Tetora's nerves and leads to that growing tension depicted in the prologue of the Universe story when he punches him, Chiaki's intentions were very much calculated. Chiaki is constantly reading the situation and emotions of the people around him to make the next optimal move that can help others.

While in front of Ryuseitai, he feels the need to be this "beacon of light," as symbolic as the blazing red sun that is the essence of his role as Ryusei Red, this facade is something that he is only keeping up because it's his "idealization" of himself. It is what he had originally wanted to become in Meteor Impact, and now that he finally has the power to become a hero in others' eyes, Chiaki partakes in this "fake it until you make it" act where he acts like a competent hero in front of the rest of Ryuseitai. It is to the point that his unitmates may admire him, but don't see his true self, marked with hidden insecurities of never being the main character of his own story. It is something that I really wish was explored more when Chiaki mentioned to Tetora how he wasn't that cool senior he tried to make himself seem to be. (Tetora and Chiaki's dynamic is so important to me if you haven't noticed by now.)

Essentially, Chiaki's personality is outwardly boisterous and passionate, channeling out his love for heroes and tokusatsu, but inwardly, he is extremely critical of how he enjoys such things. He also may seem like an unrealistic fool who views everything through the lens of tokusatsu, but he's also too realistic for his own good. He just thinks he'll seem like "no fun" if he shows that in front of Ryuseitai, but he does show his seriousness more around the other graduates.

I think an optimal example of Chiaki's more serious side was displayed in Shu's gacha event story centered on the graduates (Astraea's Atelier), specifically with how Leo and Chiaki interacted there.

Leo is generally a very playful and often unpredictable person, and you might initially think that this would go hand-in-hand with Chiaki's energetic personality. This isn't entirely a false assumption; in Red Hot Island (the water park gacha story) the two of them got along like two peas in a pod with their enthusiasm for the trip. (Their dynamic also goes so hard, btw.)

Nonetheless, there is a key difference between the two that shows a lot about Chiaki's character: while Leo tends to cope with problems by becoming increasingly more unpredictable and erratic in his personality, or isolating himself when he can no longer do so, Chiaki tends to shrink back and start showing cracks of his serious self when encountered with something grave, putting a halt to the energetic act rather than dialing it up.

This is why Chiaki is more likely to become suddenly realistic and even slightly irritable if people aren't taking things seriously when it matters most, which you can see when Chiaki sometimes shows a bit of annoyance for Leo's antics when they go too far in Astraea's Atelier, since he thinks that Leo isn't taking the situation of a stranger invading Shu's place in France seriously enough. Which is something I kind of love considering I wish we saw that side of him more.

I recommend reading the story in all honesty since in general it reflects the graduates' friendships and how they interact with each other (and it's really funny).

I find it really interesting that Chiaki actually does seem almost hostile to Leo at some points in the story, something that might seem strange at first, but makes a lot of sense if you consider the fact that this aspect of his personality has always been a part of him; you could even conclude that it's very likely that he just swallows emotions like anger, but feels them just as much as anyone would.

In the end, however, the two do understand each other and I'm honestly really glad that they're interacting more in recent gacha stories.

I do hope to see more !! stories like this one where we see more of Chiaki's serious side since I think it's really interesting, and maybe even more on showing himself more to the rest of Ryuseitai because he is just human in the end. I think those are all my daily Chiaki thoughts for today. (I am very normal.)

teruteru’s execution could have been so much better. like, his is similar to mikans, in that it’s more comedic than serious. i can kind of see why it would be terrifying in universe, even with the silly concept, but ive seen basically every let’s player laugh about it, and it didnt hit the same as leon’s or kaede’s for me.

to be completely honest, most of the executions in sdr2 are kinda lackluster, which sucks because there’s so many possibilities for cool deaths. the only ones that really affected me were gundham’s and chiaki’s, and peko’s was interesting because fuyuhiko leapt in to save her, which is the only time that happens in basically the whole franchise.

anyway, i think mikan and teruteru suffer the most from bad executions. ive seen so many better rewrites of mikan’s, and i would have given anything to see them really, truly lean in to the whole medical theme instead of fanservice. i just think sdr2 in general could be done so much better, especially since it’s got such an interesting concept and fun characters. i just feel some type of way about it.

this spiraled into a post criticizing my favorite danganronpa game idk how that happened lmao. it couldve been done better but i still love it. but god. spike couldve done more with it.

Yakou DLC spoilers

hot take, i don't think Yakou should be revived.

don't get me wrong, i love Yakou Lives aus, and Yakou Revivial aus- but i just don't think it should happen in canon. it's fine to explore in fics but can do active damage to what little integrity the canon story has.

it nullifies the hit of Yakou's death, and that's a big deal when Yakou was the only character in the proper main cast to die. it's got the same issue as the dr3 anime reviving the full sdr2 cast (sans Chiaki) but worse cause while in ronpa you expect the cast to die due to the killing game inviroment, Raincode makes an effort to lull you into a false sense of saftey after ch0 trying to get you to think the main cast has plot armour, only to suddenly kill Yakou- argueably one of the most loveable and importaint characters in the cast. it hits alot harder, and to undo that death is to ruin it's impact

this whole regentivie pill thing also causes an issue where it could effectively retcon one of the most interesting setbacks of the faulty homunuculi. i didn't like how the zombie shit was handled in canon- i hated it actually- but it does create an intetesting hurdle for homunculi to jump over whenever they leave Kanai Ward. i was kinda hoping if we got a sequel that stuggle would be explored more, as well as the existential crisis of becoming eternally between life and death and without control of yourself after passing, but if this pill is going where i think it is- that's just going to get macguffin'd out of the conflict

What's your main reasons for the choices you made on the hair//eyes// ect from DR post?

Height: There are a bunch of 5'7 characters in DR and I was happy to use Junko's queen sprite cause I would also wear a crown everywhere-

Hair: my hair is the length and color of Akane's and can be messy like hers too (I was gonna add maybe Toko cause I keep it pulled back most of the time. Double braids are my favorite so would feel right) :))))

Eyes: here are only a handful of characters with brown eyes and most of them are greenish-brown or just really light brown. Yasuhiro was one of the only ones I found with purely dark brown eyes!

Personality: I'm a pretty happy and positive person in general! There isn't one or really even four characters I think could describe my personality so I tried. Saying I'm positive is entirely scrapping the surface though. I'm not two dimensional.

Humor: Miu makes me laugh SO MUCH! There's any opportunity for an innuendo? She'll find it. Luckily my politeness and common sense win out so I don't go spouting the shit she does lol. Point is: she gets me humor-wise.

Intelligence: I know I'm a smart person so I just had to pick a character that was like that too, ya know? I really enjoyed playing Shuichi because we're on the same wavelength and he's as curious about everything as me. There was barely any Me yelling at the screen for the protagonist to be smarter than they are or Me being unable to keep up.

Voice: My friends and I have been playing the dr games together and we divide up characters to voice and Hina was one of mine. She was really really easy to voice but it was just my voice lol.

Clothing Style: So many characters have so much going on style-wise and my day to day is very much Normal. Jeans, graphic T-shirt, comfortable jacket. Nagito's was perfect.

My Danganronpa Crush: I don't care if this makes me basic, it means others have good taste too: Chiaki is my love. Her personality, her looks, her failed humor, her goals, her interests, her intelligence, her kindness, etc.!

Which Character's Killing Game Experience I Think I Would Have: I'd try to be like Kyoko and Kokichi in that they work behind the scenes to stop the game. If I were to be a blackened it would be similar to Leon as I would not plan it but it's out of self defense. If I was a victim it would be either like Imposter because I'm trying to stop someone else from getting hurt or like Sakura/what Ryoma wanted to do because I'd give up my life to save everyone else's I think. (Yes, don't worry I'm in therapy). As a regular player I'd try to be like Kaede/Imposter/Kaito in trying to bring everyone together and getting morale up.

Which Motive I'd Be Most Swayed By: The motive videos are absolute classics. And for good reason. I don't know who I'd see but, yeah. Either that or the despair disease because killing is so out of my character.

Who I'd Kill: K1-B0, sorry man. No hard feelings! (Warning: robophobic) you're just not human. You can be brought back.

Who I'd Let Kill Me: Sayaka, my queen. She didn't know about the class punishment if she got away with murder so I'm assuming I wouldn't either, I'd let her kill me if someone had to. Or Gundham, to save everyone from starvation.

I'm a wee bit of a sucker for vampire aus. But I dunno, for some reason having the Remnants as vampires and the Future Foundation as vampire hunters feels kind of like the most obvious choice. I think I'd be a little more interested in something like…maybe Vampire Chiaki? Might be due to me going through a bunch of Despair!Chiaki AUs. But now I'm picturing her trying to contain her powers and urges for a while. Surviving off of animal blood initially. Until eventually she starts using more and more of her powers ostensibly "for good".

Like she realizes that she has access to vampire hypnotism. With Nagito being the first one she uses it on. Hypnotizing him into not fixating so much on talent anymore, since she thinks that will help him. Not realizing that without being able to associate hope with talent, all she's really done is left a void for him. Since he still desperately craves hope, but doesn't have any idea now what could be its source. Chiaki gets emboldened by this apparent "success", and begins doing it on others. Kazuichi and Teruteru being next, as she leaves them with mental suggestions to tone down the pervertedness.

And eventually she ends up turning her attentions to the Twilight Syndrome girls. Luring Mikan, Hiyoko, and Mahiru to a private lunch where she hypnotizes all three at once (Chiaki's gamer mind is like "Triple combo!"). Trying to instill a greater sense of self-confidence in Mikan, make Hiyoko stop being a bully and be more polite, and leaving Mahiru with a mental suggestion that she'll rein in Hiyoko more. In practice this ultimately leads to Mikan being more open about her private resentments and turning the tables on a meeker Hiyoko. All while Mahiru feels like she wants to stick up for her best friend, but can't bring herself to. Things taken an even weirder turn when Chiaki hypnotizes Natsumi and Sato to be friends from now on...

Little by little, the power starts to go to Chiaki's head. And she can't help but show off some of her newfound physical abilities. Showing off her enhanced agility in DDR contests and the like. Even bridal carrying Hajime in her arms. And she's gotten a little too accustomed to hypnotizing Nagito, starting to feel quite comfortable being viewed as by him as his goddess. All while the hunger for human blood starts to increase. Which she initially satisfies by stealing blood bags from the school's medical offices with help from Nagito. But at some point down the road, Nekomaru looks like he might be in serious danger of dying to his heart condition. Giving Chiaki the idea for a way to save him...

Lol, I love that the idea has already gone off the rails. You've definitely spun it in an interesting direction! Cool arc for Chiaki!

DR3 really did rob us of some comfy friendship moments between Nagito and the others in Class 77-B. The writers played so much into the fan perception of him that it ended up making the others look absurdly unreasonable with how they treated him. Making him the class outcast BEFORE he actually did anything bad with that gym incident. When compared to the sexual antics Teruteru was getting up to and Hiyoko's bratty behavior, Nagito making cringey hope speeches is pretty inoffensive. Me personally, I choose to headcanon that he actually did start to form some bonds during his time at Hope's Peak. Not just with pre-Kamukura Hajime and human Chiaki. But I think there's some good potential between him and Sonia, Mahiru, Fuyuhiko, Peko, Imposter, Nekomaru, Ibuki, and Gundham. Maybe they don't become full-on friends before the Tragedy hit. But they start to see him as more than just the class weirdo and recognize some of his more likable qualities. And he in turn develops a fondness that goes beyond idolization of them as Ultimates. Oh, and I like the idea of him being Matsuda's only real friend too...Possibly with a little romantic flame. I mean I love Komahina just fine, but the boy deserves some romantic alts too. Komanami, Matsukoma, Komazumi, Kuzukoma, and Nekomaeda are all very fun to me.

i definitely have things i like and dislike about dr3, but one big gripe was how much nagito was outcasted before he even did anything bad. it doesn't even bother me on a personal level, its more of just from a writing standpoint because i really dont understand it, like it's inconsistent with the characters. because there are definitely some weirdos (lovingly! unless you're teruteru) in that class besides nagito, yet he got the most shit for it.

the most he did was just be offputting and go on some weird hope speeches (nagito did make a comment about how he got intense on a speech and apologized, which shows he had SOME self awareness at least then) and everyone really disliked him, hardly any concern when he was gone for a lot of the school year. but then when he have characters in the class that i think could be comparable to nagito at least before the gym bombing issue, in terms of being an outcast or oddball. people such as; gundam, teruteru, hiyoko, mikan, and even fuyuhiko who is literally the heir to the yakuza. but the class still cared about all of them and were good friends with them, but nagito is where they drew the line.

it just, doesn't really make sense? it would have made much more sense if they had all disliked nagito AFTER the bombing incident. there could have been some angst about how they WERE friends with him, but felt uncomfortable around him after he planted a bomb in their gym. it just would have made a lot more sense. it just felt inconsistent to me and like lazy writing.

i also like to headcannon that he was at least friends with some of them too though! i've always felt like he could have an interesting friendship with fuyuhiko, sonia, and even ibuki just for the chaos lol. i can't say much about matsuda because i have yet to read danganronpa zero, but yeah, give nagito some friends smh.

i do think nagito might have a difficult time learning to like the ultimates as people though, because he's only really loved them for being symbols of hope. he knows nothing about them just as people, because of how warped his perception is. which again, could have been an interesting plot point so see developed. but, oh well! i do like to think after they all woke up, he did start learning to see them just as people and even make some friendships, since they're not really symbols of hope considering yknow... destroying the world lol. he did look to be on better terms with everyone in the brief moments of the cast we saw during hope arc. it's just a little thought i like to indulge myself in!

Despite the Shinkai cult having been ceased to nonexistent by Madara's hands, and Kanata himself abandoning his duties as a god to become human and exist alongside them; what would stop Kanata from picking up his duties as a god again and declare you as his god/goddess at his own cult?

Would Madara and Chiaki be mad at their darling for wasting their efforts of making Kanata more humane during their yumenosaki years? Or would they join the cult centered around their darling?

Would the characters form a cult for the player?

Hmmm I actually don´t think current Kanata would start his own cult again, even as a yandere. I think he´s pretty happy to be human because that gives him a chance to be with you! I think he might start to see you as a god though, maybe? So he might start treating you as someone "superior" to everyone else.

The main reason why I don´t think a cult would be started by the self-aware characters? This is kind of petty but most of them are too possessive and jealous for that, even if there are ones that treat you like a god and worship you. Being in a cult with everyone else means that they all worship you and offer themselves up for you and that would mean sharing you in a sense! They are the only ones that truly adore and love you as you deserve, the others aren´t worthy of even sending a glance your way!

They also want you for their very own, not to be shared with the others under any circumstances so I assume pretty much everyone would protest against joining a cult where your "love" needs to be shared with all of its members. They would much rather monopolize all of your time and have the others stay away. They don´t need to join a cult to build their own shrine of you!

I want to reference a different post I made some time ago where I talked about how the fans would act around the player. Please give it a read before continuing here!

Anyway, in that post I described that the fans would kind of be like dolls without their own thoughts. They aren´t established characters in the enstars games and are just faceless people that don´t have any real importance ( they´re even a game mechanic). So they probably wouldn´t be self-aware like the characters or even actual individuals with their own thoughts and feelings.

They´re part of the game and as such, the game itself twists everything to be as welcoming to you as it can. So it´s only natural that the fans that listen to the new lovesick lyrics of their favorite idols would soon grow to favor you as well! The game immediately erases such ugly feelings like jealousy and instead turns them into love for you!

So remember how I said the idols wouldn´t form a cult because they all want to have you to themselves? Well, that doesn´t really apply to faceless masses of people that are suddenly very interested in you, right?

I mean, they are artificial, they are told by the game itself to love you so it only makes sense that they would get obsessive, right? So maybe it isn´t too far off to say that the crazy fan club might one day turn into a cult where they can properly worship you.

They don´t care about having you for their own, they aren´t *actual* real people. They only exist to adore and serve you.

A list of my favorite Danganronpa ships and why I like them, that no one asked for. (Not in any specific order)

(It also contains spoilers so if you don't want that scoot)

1. Kaede X Rantaro

A bit rare but I really like them together. Aside from the fact that I like calling them A and A, I like the dynamic of person who can't be trusted and person who trust too easily. And that nail painting scene with Tsumugi third wheeling was just adorable.

2. Sonia X Gundham

Who doesn't love SonDam? I liked their interactions throughout the game! I live for Sonia unintentionally making Gundham all blushy blushy and the fact that she indulges his interests sincerely is adorable. They're both nerds and I love them for it.

3. Fuyuhiko X Peko

Now this. THIS made me cry, bawl, scream and throw up more tears. Fuyuhiko and Peko are EVERYTHING. Childhood friends, Fuyuhiko most likely having romantic interest in Peko but Peko still feels confined in the I'm a tool thing. Not only that I believe Peko mentioned that she had a childhood friend that she wanted to take on a date once the Killing game was done (most likely Fuyuhiko). That whole emotional scene in Chapter 2 was just beautiful and KuzuPeko is just the best.

4. Miu X Kiibo

Aside from just ultimate pervert inventor wants to fuck the robot thing, I feel that they can be so much more. Maybe I'm just high off of headcannons (which I am) but I vibe with the whole no one understands Miu so she only vibes with robots and Kiibo, who's a robot, tries to understand humans but can't so who better to help them with their shit than each other.

5. Mondo X Kiyotaka

No explanation needed. They're bros and the bromance is strong.

6. Maki X Kaito

Idiot space nerd in love with cold blooded caregiver who turns out to be an assassin. I believe that confession in Trial 5 speaks for itself.

I'm a sucker for beauty and the beast and this ship is the embodiment of everything I love about that fairytale. That scene in the anime where he cries for her and he doesn't even know who the hell she is hits hard.

8. Kokichi X Shuichi

I have no idea why I fell in love with this ship. I guess I really like the idea of the Phantom Thief Au where Shuichi chases after Kokichi. This ship gives me Akechi and Akira vibes from Persona 5 and I kind of like it. Also the potential of the ambiguity of Ouma's thoughts and motives gives me life because I can project the angst that I had when shipping RyoMina from Persona 3.

9. Mukuro X Makoto

Another one with a cute nickname, I like calling them the MnM's (Moxxie and Millie brainrot). I just wanted good things for Mukuro and who better to give her love than our good-hearted protag Makoto.

10. Mahiru X Hiyoko

This one I don't really ship hardcore but I find it to be very adorable and I wish they had more screen time because Mahiru made Hiyoko more tolerable and genuinely a good person for like 4 seconds. I also feel like the strong bond they have is just so cute.

11. Nagito X Hajime

NOW, I have a love-hate relationship with this ship. I love it because I think that they both make each other better (more like Hajime can control Nagito to an extent) and they have really cute moments with each other. BUT on the other hand I despise this brainrot inducing trash, not only does it give me insurmountable amounts of anger but it also makes me hate the shipping fandom of Danganronpa. This ship just kind of doesn't make sense to me because Hajime doesn't like Nagito?? And the toxic KomaHina shippers are just the worst.

I thought it was funny lol

It genuinely started off as a joke. I see those Danganronpa but the wheel decides their fate videos all the time and almost all the videos I see Angie always gets killed by Kiyo and I started shipping it for shits and giggles. but now it just stuck to me so it went from "it's just a joke" to "it's not a joke anymore 😦".

This one is a bit of a doozy lore-wise.

I already talked about Rinne in the Agency post, but here goes. The Amagis were victims of the Great War like everyone else, hence the usual oh here’s some orphans that have been abandoned by society. well! guess they have no choice but to join the mafia! oops! and that’s pretty much what happened. except Rinne is a smart guy and good at scheming and planning and Ibara was like oh shit this guy is useful (+ no longer human). so he ended up becoming an executive.

Hiiro just kind of was a package deal with Rinne, but he’s not as good at planning and all that, so they snapped up this kid with an ability (Rashomon) and taught him how to fight, except no one really needed to teach him. since Rinne’s ability is noncombative Hiiro believed it was his duty to protect his older brother and you probably know from bsd how survival behaviors can get unhealthy in the mafia

after Rinne leaves Hiiro is devastated and starts his journey to try to bring him back. once Tsukasa leaves too he kind of gets worse about it. he meets Aira during the Guild conflict and Aira is like. maybe not a good influence all the time but definitely a Normal Influence.

Tsukasa’s family is like. Not exactly in the mafia but they run one of the front corporations for the mafia. Tsukasa is having a rebellious phase/formative experience when he joins the actual mafia. this complicates internal politics, but not nearly as much as it does when he leaves. (his ability is Demon Snow; most of the abilities are pretty much the same unless otherwise noted.)

Jin was one of the underground doctors and then ditched to go to Real Medical School after leaking information to the government and getting a pardon.

Nagisa is the boss because he inherited it from his adoptive father. Ibara is the one who knows practically every detail about how the mafia works and basically runs it. He does carry out Nagisa’s orders when Nagisa feels like making any.

i do what i want with my aus and that includes ELIMINATING ALL THE WEIRD STUFF. i hope youre happy readers. yes Hiyori is Elise in that he’s the manifestation of Nagisa’s ability. hes also a wholeass adult that grew up alongside Nagisa and they are best friends and also in love. Hiyori has agency in this weird ability-typical roundabout where Nagisa wanted him to be his own separate person So He Is. but also he’s badass and occasionally superhuman

Jun is just here. idk. if Karma had more of a backstory i might be able to elaborate more. he works mostly closely with Ibara but also acts as a bodyguard for Hiyori and Nagisa.

listen. i know akatsuki mafia is an interesting choice. but listen. Keito is opportunistic and willing to set aside his morals for greater ends and would fit in well. anyway he’s cool his ability is golden demon but possibly with occasional design choices that reference Vampire Shogun.

Kuro.  yeah.. Kuro. he’s got for the tainted sorrow but without the human experimentation part. (can you tell i havent read stormbringer part 1) his sister has no clue he’s in the mafia and no one in the mafia knows he has a sister. Keito’s right-hand man.

Souma is so loyal to Keito for saving him from the Shinkai cult after the war and there is nothing questionable here at all! the mafia totally isn’t exploiting his intense devotion i don’t know what you’re talking about ^-^

ryuseitai in the mafia is another interesting choice, I know. i think of them in this au kind of like the Sheep. yes Kanata is technically ex-mafia but it’s okay that was just his emo phase

Chiaki. oh, Chiaki, you poor, sweet, misguided boy with nowhere else to go, so you cling to the only place that gives you a sense of belonging. you had such ideals. (his ability is basically comet punch. idk what to tell you. he punches and its like a comet.) disregard any canon information about verlaine (can you tell i havent read stormbringer part 2)

Midori just wants to sleep but he’s got one of the more powerful abilities in the mafia (falling camellias) and his coworkers are stupid

Tetora doesn’t have an ability but he makes up for it with brute strength and various weaponry. everyone is terrified of him. Kaoru swears he saw Tetora in a dress once and mistook him for a girl and no one will believe him. (this would be easily solved because if anyone would bother to ask Tetora, he’d confirm the rumor and come out as genderfluid in the process, but everyone’s too intimidated to ask Tetora.)

Kaoru is just some guy (this is totally a front, just like being heterosexual is a front. more on that in part 5)

Shinobu has exploding ninja weapons. idk what else to tell you. they’ve got exploding ninja weapons, man.

Tori is cute (it’s a trap) (come on. who else would be Q)

HiMERU was not directly involved in the mafia, but while he was away on a “business trip”, Kaname got mixed up in some shit and ended up in the mafia (briefly) and died (for profit). If you look very, very deep in the records, well... you actually won’t find anything. But if you asked Rinne, he might remember a self-proclaimed “revolutionary” with a righteous complex that tried to single-handedly destroy the Mafia...

{Rinne was friends [as much as one can be friends in the mafia] with Jun (and Shinobu, callback to asobi club) and was kind of friends by proxy with Kaname for the short time that he was there. The seemingly meaningless death and sacrifice caused Rinne to leave the Mafia. And oh, was it interesting to show up at the Agency later on and see a vaguely familiar face...}

anyways. got tired of that whole "being sick" and "resting" thing so i made a tierlist! enstars characters and what i think their best/favourite style of competitive dance would be

explanations/notes under the cut if you're interested whatsoever in my thought process

ballet: starting with the obvious ones we've got izumi (canonically did ballet) and then the mfers who seem to have obvious ballet training (fushimi, shu). the other 4 i can't explain aside from like. vibes. look me in the eyes and tell me that adonis wouldn't absolutely kill it with the jumps expected of guys in ballet. hokuto has the prince vibes necessary for like every pas de deux ever! i think tomoya would get lifted a lot. and i think midori could do the lifts

jazz: there's like three threads of reasoning behind every character here. either 1) they aren't rigid enough for ballet but benefit from the structure and technique of jazz, 2) have the Energy for it. the Sass or 3) have the other kind of Energy for it (energetic/jumpy/etc.)

contemp/lyrical: i feel the need to point out that i accidentally put 4/5 of la mort here. Not On Purpose. (worth also noting that noir neige's choreo falls loosely in the vein of contemp/lyrical) kuro and tatsumi might be weird ones but hear me out i think they would both benefit from the looser amounts of freedom and ability to express yourself that contemp and lyrical have. how directly it is used to express emotion, particularly Sad or Upsetting ones

tap: now i'm biased because My favourite style is tap but i think everyone here either has the natural rhythm to understand tap from a musicality point of view or they would be able to make the rhythms of tap make sense to them in a logical way. (also i think tori did tap? in the fine vs. trickstar DDD match?? at least it sounded like it in the anime) specifically for hajime i think he would find it easier to just have to coordinate two of his limbs instead of his entire body at all times until he eventually gets better body control via dancing more because lord knows i was also like that,

hip hop/street: mostly self explanatory! tsumugi is there because of the brilliant smile music video are u kidding me. who taught him to fucking breakdance. i think shinobu would be surprisingly good at it because he's got good body control and would be good at picking up specific details of choreography! and i think aira just deserves to have cool moments

improv: barring the canonical one (leo tsukinaga ur insane) these are all guys i think have a lot of natural creativity and talent and would love to just fucking go at it with any song! they get to express themselves and their dance style and knowledge in arguably the most raw way possible on a competitive stage

musical theatre/variety: if you've never seen musical theatre/variety at a Dance Competition let me tell u this is some of the funniest most over the top shit ever. anyways. wataru is here bc he's the theatre bitch (otherwise he'd be in ballroom or jazz) and chiaki is here because he is so over the top (otherwise he'd be in jazz or hip hop)

ballroom: i can't see them doing any competitive styles and feeling comfortable in them. that is why this tier exists. they'd both do ballet tho if they HAD to choose one bc it has the necessary structure/similar expectations of elegance and poise

Everything. love him a lot. Has been obsessed with him since my first watch of the playthrough almost four years ago. There's nothing you can do about liking him you just have to accept it. But I think I can say that I especially like the way he's written

the way fandom treats him. It's super rare to see someone interpret him normally, without falling into either "uwu soft baby who did nothing wrong" or "insane freak without a sense of morality who loves to commit arson for the fun of it". I think his behavior in the prologue of sdr2 is the most accurate version of him

His "huh?" in the 4th trial... I just find it pretty funny. The "Am I allowed to speak now?" also deserves mentioning. All his other memorable lines are SO memed in the fandom that I kinda even find them annoying lol xD

YES ryuseitai having a super sentai themed sekai would be soooo cute. like imagine a lil glass case w figurines and reader listens to chiaki infodump abt the tokusatsu heroes and a lil aquarium for kanata and lots of plushies for midori... etc etc

NO ANGST THIS MIGHT ACTUALLY BECOME A SERIES YK LIKE. i could write a full series with like chapters for each unit to see how their relationship w vocaloid idol is.....
