I don't think she ever met anyone and by the time she woke up from the coma her delusions of the fantasy of the grandiose of murder was entirely faded and if anything tarnished

the thing about. okay so when i first got into dr i was like ‘i think i prefer an outcome where they ultimately cant wake the other ten members of their class and its just the five survivors because then the deaths meant something yknow’ and while i still think that that kind of thing has. yknow. merit and value. i have actually come around to preferring them being able to do it. with one massive caveat.

it takes forever.

it takes at least a year and a half, two years maybe, before they (lets be real, hajime) even gain the knowledge of the system, work out its quirks, beef up its security and tech, connect it to enough power, and build the proper technology to manage something like this, and even then, each person is going to need a unique plan of action. its going to take ages. i think its best if they start from the first death through the last, which has the added benefit of waking the impostor first and gaining a good moral compass and grounding presence. but… i mean. its almost two years before they even manage the first dive into their brain. two years of living alone, just the five of them, of building each other up of building a dynamic, one that works, and of changing and growing because they have no other choice.

so when it comes down to them actually attempting to wake the first person… theres some anxiety. theres some worry. theres a lot of ‘this is going to radically alter how we relate to each other and everyone else’. theres a lot of ‘this is going to make things weird’. theres a lot of ‘theyre not going to understand a lot of things at first not only because its been two years since we all went under and everything has changed in that time but also because the five of us have a fundamentally different relationship now with each other than we will have with anyone else we wake up. thats going to cause conflict’.

and i dont even necessarily mean that in a romantic relationship sense (though if you know me you know im deeply unwell about kuzuhina and also an absolute sucker for polycule shit so yeah i do also kinda mean it in that way), but just that their bond is so strong. living alone on an island in the middle of nowhere for two years with just four other people will do that. they know each other in fundamental ways that the others may never manage. fuyuhiko may get peko back, but her relationship with him will never be the one he has with hajime, or akane, or kazuichi or sonia. sonia will get gundham back, but despite them definitely regaining their romantic relationship (after an adjustment period, of course), there will be an odd dissonance in how well hajime and akane know her in ways gundham doesnt. akane will get nekomaru back in her life. but he will never be the person she goes to with the things she goes to hajime with.

this isnt necessarily entirely negative, of course. relationships are always going to be different with different people because theyre. yknow. different people. but i think theres going to be a period of time, maybe even the rest of their lives, where the ten sleepers in the vault will understand, intrinsically, that the relationship the five survivors has is never going to be fully understood, and will always be special and different from what they all have as a group.

hajime, fuyuhiko, kazuichi, akane, and sonia all faced arguably the hardest parts of the healing process, the stumbling blindly with no hand to hold except the others with an equal lack of sight, together, and that. does things. to a relationship.

they will all manage the healing process, and they will all struggle through it. but never in the same way those five did.

Kazuichi and Gundham Headcannons and Headcannons of Them as a Couple Part 2

Part One

Kazuichi (cause I had more for him since I posted lol)

While it’s known that Kazuichi has earrings, he actually has six other piercings - two on his tongue, two snake bites and one on each nipple (Gundham is fond of all of them)

Kazuichi can cook

When you only live with an asshole dad who beats you up just for skipping a school trip, it’s safe to say he’d also beat him up for being hungry

While he isn’t Teruteru levels of Master Chef, he is very apt in the kitchen - the only place besides his garage that he’s not a clumsy klutz

Can make some good dishes but seems to really shine in comfort foods like ramen and baked goods

Has to make a rule about making any kind of cookie or cake limit due to his friends always asking for them

Has springs allergies 

They molly rock them unless he has medication and wears a mask outside

Has anxiety

Either major or GAD

Smokes to help it

You damn right he made edibles once and immediately regretted it when Hajime and Fuyuhiko ate them but also how dare they no one told them to eat it 

Kazuichi apologizes to Sonia because he does honestly feel like shit for making her uncomfortable around him, he feels bad for using her as a scapegoat for his own mess and as a means to get closer to Gundham. 

Sonia makes him suffer of course, making him do a variety of different things as a way to test him and she also apologizes later on about her treatment towards the other. This is only AFTER extensive time and reflection on both parts

Not all is forgiven and forgotten, but they do make the steps towards a better acquaintanceship.

They actually get along really well and can talk shop about technology, games (Chiaki) and even to both their delight action films. The duo plus one becomes a comfortable trio of mutual friends 

Kazuichi isolates himself a lot

He was taught by his dad he was worthless and only useful in one thing so after middle school he was proven right

Tried to use becoming Sonia’s boyfriend as a “I’ll show you all!” but it failed

And after the NWP he felt awful about all that and tried to hide

At first they left him alone cause it was a rough time and Sonia felt better without him close by but overtime it became worrying

They’d find him and he’d make some lame excuse but the next day he would be missing again and the last hiding spot abandoned 

They really had to force him to interact which caused an anxiety attack and it triggered a domino effect where everyone realized this was more fucked then they thought 

He still doesn’t interact with them as much as he did before the Tragedy and the NW program, but he’s coming around slowly

Him and Akane see each other as siblings - they both grew up in rough situations but not the exact same. 

When she comes to him about having a crush on Sonia, he’s distraught over his dream shattering but backs away cause he wants her to be happy more than he wants the dream of being someone important enough to be with a princess

He’s their biggest supporter though - gently ribbing Akane on her choice of flirting by offering food and trying to actually get to know Sonia and making amends

Gundham is number 2 supporter and likes that they can be friends but he does at times lament about his peace being “broken”

In their first three months in freshman year they bond over how “out of touch” the more well off of their classmates were compared to them 

During their Remnant Days, they would be apart to heighten their Despair but would always sit close by during meetings

Once Junko died and her control over them waned, they were seen together frequently until their capture

With Chiaki gone, Akane is his first choice of platonic cuddle buddy; with Chiaki alive she’s number two

He will always make Akane food and bake for her no matter what time or day. And Akane will always be there to cheer him up

Kazuichi sews! He can sew really well actually 

It’s a mind relaxing hobby - most times you don’t have to think and it’s soothing for him

Repairs the Survivors clothes if there’s enough thread around

Gets a sewing kit for his birthday from Fuyuhiko and Peko - those really expensive ones where the scissors are lined with real gold and shit

He does embroidery and cross stitch 

Fixed Gundham’s scarf as part welcome back part apology gift for when he woke up

Make Hajime an orange themed handkerchief and a Chinese dragon themed eyepatch for Fuyuhiko

Kazuichi teaches Gundham to swim. 

Once the mechanic sees and hears Gundham’s feverthment protests at the beach, he decides to teach him. 

He doesn’t know why he does it and tells himself it’s to win Sonia over and not to feel up the somewhat hot guy that’s his story and it’ll go to his grave-

Both are Evanescence fans!

This is surprising to the breeder because Gundham didn’t expect Kazuichi to have such good taste lol

Kazuichi is a long time on and off fan - his favorite album being the Open Door and was so distraught when the group broke up with only Amy left

They both like to chill and listen to the classics while explaining to each other what each song means to them

They also like FOB and Painc! but Kazuichi only knows the latest PATD album and Gundham still teases him for not knowing “I Write Sins Not Tradget” but can belt out “Dance Dance” with no problems like a champ

They both slowly open up about their respective pasts and how that made them what they are. 

Both are afraid of being shunned or mocked and belittled, but to Kazuichi’s surprise they both had a shitty dad. 

He tells Gundham about how brave he is and how he wished he was when he was a kid and Gundham admits he wasn’t brave - just scared for his mom more than himself

They talk about it on bad days and console each other 

Gundham is the finale wake up call for Kazuichi’s Pansexual Awakening. 

The mechanic had felt something for Sonia obviously, but also for Hajime, Ibuki (short lived) Imposter, and surprisingly enough Fuyuhiko and Peko at the same time that he just chalked up to liking a bro. But one day while they were strangely alone and forced into a team building exercise, the two found themselves finding a lot in common and then before Kaz knew it he got distracted and twisted his ankle and the breeder had to carry him back and oh momma, oh baby he’s a lot stronger than he looks oh s h i t- 

After that, it’s awkward attempts at figuring out his feelings for Gundham and his diminishing fake ones for Sonia and just disaster flirting with both before he finally decides that yeah Gundham is endgame

Sonia knows what’s up. She knows. 

Kazuichi is not slick and Gundham is hella obvious to everyone BUT Kazuichi. 

Gundham will never hide anything from the She-Cat and admits his feelings, but fears they are only one sided. It takes Kazuichi longer to admit it, but after being cornered by Hajime and Sonia he hastily laments that the breeder would never like him like that. 

Her chaotic nature comes into full sadist play as she drops not so subtle hints and remarks around the two much to both men’s embarrassment.

It takes weeks of active sabotage of group hangouts and finally an upright romantic dinner setting complete with live violin (Ibuki the musician Goddess) the two finally get together. But in the least orthodox way possible- anesthesia. 

Gundham gets injured helping a trapped bear and falling from a tall cliff. He has a concussion but it’s minor and a leg that needed several stitches and needed to be casted. Kazuichi was a complete wreck after he’s brought in - out right sobbing and cannot be calmed down by even Chiaki. 

When Mikan is done he beats Sonia to the door and was hovering over the bed, tears of relief making him look like a complete mess and Gundham, high as fuck, takes one look him and goes “pretty mortal. very pretty.” and just fumbles through several attempts at flirting and hand holding and cheek caressing before finally asking Kazuichi to please let him let the breeder take him out he would die if he didn’t. 

And Kazuichi is speechless cause, ya know, Gundham is high as fuck but uses his energy to flirt and ask him out and??? His brain can’t process. Sonia gently intervenes and tell the mechanic that Gundham wanted to ask him out for the longest but was too scared and he likes him so go on the date already we’ve all been trying to hook you two up-

Kazuichi and Gundham are both touch starved - but on different sides of the spectrum.

Gundham doesn’t actively seek it out and will enjoy basking in Kazuichi’s touch when they do 

On particular days he will hold Kazuichi captive and running his hands down his love’s body

Kazuichi on the other hand craves it and actively seeks Gundham out 

Gundham purrs when Kazuichi scratches his scalp 

Gundham is pale due to his anemia and as a result is always cold. On the other hand, Kazuichi runs really hot - close to unbearable. 

The two love to cuddle because they love the contact - Gundham can warm up and bask in the warmth and love of his paramour and Kazuichi can cling to the breeder as much as he wants without worrying about making him overheat, he feels safe when they do and can cool down at the same time

Gundham can’t swim but can ice skate; Kazuichi can’t ice skate but can swim. Balanced.

Kazuichi helps Gundham with his daily sunscreen application

Pet names. Oh gods the pet names. 

Gundham uses his extensive vocabulary to his advantage and creates new and invited titles almost on the fly. 

He gauges Kazuichi’s reaction to each one and when one seems to get a more positive response than the others then he’ll retain that knowledge to use later when they’re alone in their shared cabin. 

Kazuichi, who never had a partner let alone a boyfriend before, starts off with commonly used ones he’s seen in the media: Baby, Honey, Dear etc. Later on, however, his boyfriend’s way with words rubs off on him and he’ll begin to give as good as he gets. 

He’ll only use one particular pet name when they are either alone or Gundham is so overcome with rage or his tirades that he needs to be brought back to the here and now.

Kazuichi kisses Gundham’s scars to show he isn’t bothered by them while Gundham will whisper praise and caress his body

sdr2 with shuichi as the protag. i truly think this cast would kill him. i actually think he'd try to be a little more empathetic and understanding of nagito than hajime (not hajime hate btw i would never) but would still be unsettled by him. training with akane and nekomaru almost kills him dead. everytime mikan falls in a compromising position his heart literally fails. he finds ibuki endearing but she is a fucking headache. mahiru berates him for not being man enough to take control, hiyoko bullies him RELENTLESSLY. fuyuhiko's probably actually cool with him, peko doesn't pay him much mind, gundham thinks he's alright. i think he'd get on pretty well with sonia, and be only a little disturbed by her occult fascination. he would for sure like chiaki - introverts united.

Wastin' away again in Danganronpaville

OK, the Game Grumps finished their Danganronpa 2 playthrough. So let's talk about how everything played out, and what I thought didn't work in the story.

This is the kind of story you can barely describe without giving away all the twists that come at the very end. (Even moreso than Danganronpa 1, which is no easy feat.) So there's nothin' but spoilers after the cut.

I suppose the biggest twist in the whole game is that the DR2 kids brought all this on themselves. They were bad guys brainwashed by the evil Junko Enoshima. The kids from DR1 tried to rehabilitate the DR2 kids, who agreed to a virtual reality rehabilitation program that would scrub their memories. But Hajime infected the simulator with a Junko AI virus that took over to torment them. This forces the DR1 kids to enter the simulation to rescue the DR2 kids, springing a trap where all of them could be stuck forever. Now that's some true despair: A Killing Game where there's a woman to blame, but they know it's their own damn fault.

Hajime gets a ton of character development at the very end. He spends the whole game being the generic protagonist, to the point that he feels like a cheap copy of Makoto (the generic protagonist from the first game). I just couldn't get invested in this dude. Then, suddenly, his love interest Chiaki isn't a real person, and his whole life is a lie because he volunteered for a mad scientist experiment that turned him into a nihilistic übermensch. These things could have been fun to explore throughout the game, but by the time we learn about them the story's almost over.

Another problem is the kids they chose to make it to the end. Listen, all the DR2 kids have a certain charm to them (except Teruteru, who sucks). But I think DR1 did a better job with its survivors, forging them into a found-family within a found-family. I don't get the same vibe from Hajime, Sonia, Fuyuhiko, Kazuichi, and Akane. Instead of bonding with each other, each of them bonds with someone who died. (Except Kazuichi, who's c-blocked for other reasons.) That plays into the climax well--they're each torn between moving forward or reclaiming what they've lost. But it's not as satisfying as DR1 making me believe that Ultimate Donut Girl and Ultimate Serial Killer and Ultimate Spooky Chick can be besties.

Who would I pick to be the final five of this game? Hajime's a given, I suppose. I think the Fuyuhiko/Peko story would've been more interesting if Peko was the one who had to go on without Fuyuhiko. Akane is a fun personality, but she's not an compelling character, whereas Gundham is both. And as much sense as it made for Nagito to go out in Chapter 5, he'd have been far more fascinating in Chapter 6 than Kazuhichi. And killing off Kazuichi probably would have added more depth to Sonia, one way or another. If I could work in a sixth survivor, I'd choose Mikan, if only to rewrite her into more than a fetish-y sex object.

I don't mean to be too harsh with Danganronpa 2. On the whole, it was fun to spend seven months watching funny people play it, and react to the poignant, shitty, and poignant-shitty moments. But throughout the journey, one thought never stopped being in my head: I hope this is the episode where they reveal something about the kids from the first game. This is one of those sequels that pulls out all the stops to go harder, but it just reminds you that the original is better.

1: Fav Game - V3, hands down. I liked basically the entire cast, which I hadn't with the other games. My roommate was playing it so I didn't have to do the trial mini games, thankfully. But V3 also hurts a lot, too lol (Also Gonta, obviously!!!!!! <3)

2: Least Fav Game - Ultra Despair Girls, unless you only mean the 3 main games, in which case... Idk? I think I feel roughly the same about both 1 and 2, it'd be tough to pick. But UDG is somehow even more fucked up than the others, and I think a big part of that for me was that these were LITTLE children. Like the main games are bad enough with high schoolers, but elementary kids with those traumas? Absolutely awful. Like the whole game was so dark, the only bits of light were the Komaru/Took bonding bits. Too much for me.

9: Fav Execution - I think Gundham's was one of the kindest ones, comparatively. Mondo's still holds the top prize for funniest in my opinion, though.

18: Fav In-Game Moment: Now saturn, we have established that I am no good at picking favorites, and this one is really hard haha! So many good moments!!! Gosh, anytime you see characters having a genuinely nice, safe, happy time together is my jam. Getting excited about their talent, excited to meet new friends, begrudgingly going along with something only to have a great time, little nice bits thrown in there to make it not entirely miserable lol

34: Fav Protag - I love Shuichi and Hajime for different reasons! I was the one to play sdr2 and be utterly lost with Hajime who was just so damn confused the entire time. Sassy boy, sassy!!!! And Shuichi is quite relatable personally, I kept reacting the same way a lot and saying things he was just about to say! I was very excited about Kaede, she was fun too! And Makoto was just cute and clueless a lot as well hahaha

48: A character you thought you would dislike but liked in the end? - I'll be honest, my feelings for most of the characters didn't change much throughout the games! Like I was curious about Korekiyo for so long, very neutral but curious, and his whole thing made me have a worse view of him, his went the other way. The other charas I didn't like the whole time basically stayed that way? And the ones I liked also basically stayed that way too? Gonta is an exception, I knew I liked him instantly, but I didn't expect... this!!!

62: A character you can relate to - Shuichi's near the top of the list for sure, but also some of Kokichi's mischief (and height). Angie's an artist, so that was cool to be like hey I do that! And Chihiro's gender exploration felt familiar too! It's fun to see bits of the others in yourself as well, but those are probably most prominent. Just a bunch of weird kids hehe

ok so i’ve been seeing a lot of ideas and victim swaps for sdr2′s 3rd chapter and trial (i was going to say lately but i have no idea how strong this fandom is actually going now so) and i had some ~thoughts~

so the one topic of conversation is that souda, despite being one of the survivors, has no one he was especially close to. Specifically, he is the only one who isn’t mourning the death of a significant person by the end. And there have been a lot of suggestions on how this could’ve been dealt with; and i had an idea of my own that i actually ended up liking so. thought i might as well record it.

also, obviously, if this has been done before, from the bottom of my heart: my bad. i haven’t seen one like this personally, so these are just my own thoughts and ramblings

with that out of the way: 

firstly, let me quickly mention one of the more popular ideas. namely having sonia die instead of hiyoko. instant no there for me; i love souda (whether thanks to fanfics or his character design or actual canon is up for debate tbh) but his behavior towards sonia in the game is, as everyone knows, pretty fucking awful. 

he doesn’t intend to be creepy but that doesn’t change the fact that he is; he doesn’t respect sonia’s individuality, he’s creepily territorial sometimes (i’m replaying the game and i’m just starting the party scene but he’s already threatened to beat up a guy for talking to/walking with her; like dude, chill, you’ve know her for a day) and his admiration for her comes from this strange, worship-esque standpoint. 

simply put, he loves the idea of her, not her herself. this is pretty clear in the game and i don’t think it’ll really change with her death; if anything it’ll be useless because the most he’ll learn is maybe he shouldn’t have been a borderline stalker when she was alive. they weren’t emotionally close at all, he wouldn’t grieve her the way we see the other survivors do. dead sonia would deserve better.

this got twp paragraphs longer than intended. anyway.

the idea i specifically wanna talk about here was, at first, instead of changing any of the victims or culprits, we can take the quicker and relatively easier way of just. changing some character relationships. specifically, developing a friendship between two characters; just have souda be one of the damn victim’s or culprit's friend. 

my first instinct was gundham for,,,obvious reasons, i think, not least because i’ve been seeing a lot of soudham (+ sonia! i forget the ship name) content and it’s influencing me. he dies, souda cries, sonia also cries, they bond. now the survivors are closer, souda probably learns to see sonia as a person, and he has besties besides hajime (who is practically juggling a whole ass harem).

my second, and steadily becoming more preferred, choice, is ibuki. have souda and ibuki be friends!

we’ve seen intense bonding over less; hiyoko and mahiru’s bond, although a pleasant one, was still a sudden surprise to me. it was really nice but, well, kind of random. maybe i just missed signs? but that’s besides the point; the point is they just need a simple starting point and we can snowball from there.

and what better than to start with their most obvious and likely memorable trait? appearances. they can literally start at surface level and work their way in deeper.

have them chat over hair dyes, the brands they prefer, tips and troubles and they can even have those little events we see with the girls baking or mahiru and hiyoko in the bath (what the heck was that by the way), except we see them helping each other dye their hair. they both specifically dye black to pink too, although ibuki of course has more colors. basically just them messing around with hair, coloring and cutting and whatever else they please, along with eyeliner and piercings and clothing.

and then there’s the rest. why they deliberately chose to be so flashy to begin with. their personalities, just as flashy and bright and often overbearing. not being able to really always connect with others their age. their ambitions and fears, and what inspired or caused them. insecurities. dreams. childhood.

ibuki’s passion for her work and inherent confidence and certainty in herself inspiring souda to battle his insecurity. her putting him in his place when he crosses a line; we see she calls him out when she catches on to his schemes at the diner scene in chapter 2 when she pinpoints him coming to see sonia. ibuki teaches him to be friendlier. souda teaches her to cease the energizer-bunny shtick once in a while, reigns her in (although ibuki’s pretty stable i think, at least in comparison to the fellow emotionally constipated lunatics running around in her class). let them connect.

and then let one of them die.

at first i just went with ibuki as usual, and nothing really changes except that desired outcome of souda mourning someone special to him and growing from it.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, what if we went ahead and swapped them?

they become close friends, souda dies in chapter 3, and ibuki is then one of the survivors. this could let us kill two birds with one stone honestly; it can set up for both of them to have good arcs.

souda’s can be a subplot leading up to the deadly life where he gradually improves his behavior towards sonia and learns to push past his fears somewhat, even by something small like helping or at least voicing concern/some empathy for nagito when he gets infected, despite having been or even still being so afraid and distrustful of him. he doesn’t have to suddenly become fearless or kind, just better. it’d even fit with hiyoko; both victims being people on the road to self-improvement, tragically cut short.

the difference between the reactions could be fun to explore too; because mikan could derail the case by poking at a wounded ibuki who is a) very vocal and b) might be too focused on souda to focus on the essential clues found on hiyoko, because hiyoko doesn’t have her mahiru to take the role of main griever for her

this could just make the trial interesting and more emotionally impactful and also make despair mikan more compelling than “crazy horny yandere nurse” by playing with targeted people’s emotions plus her own meek act

ibuki’s resulting arc be somewhat like himiko’s from ndrv3 but reversed, where she becomes a bit more grounded and serious but still retains her own spirit after maybe bonding with fuyuhiko; she bounces back pretty well from the last two cases but after being personally invested in this one she might try and fail to still keep going then have that talk fuyuhiko did with akane (”i know how you feel, don’t blame yourself”) and then she can have a healthy breakdown idk (and then they can have that awkward Talk with akane together in chapter 4 and then maybe with sonia and hey this can become a whole trend)

this’ll also nicely wrap up the cast in chapter 6 where they all have someone special to think about (souda’s reason for just wanting to live is obviously super valid but since it’s not really explored this may as well happen instead to complete the set)

and yes this is hardly thought through properly; i have no idea how chapter 4 would play out since souda has a pretty big role in that investigation with his talent, though 5 and 6 would hardly be affected, and this could all be difficult to put in nicely considering how much happened in chapter 2 and how little time for set up there was for 3

most of what i said would have to be casual dialogues, lines in free time events or maybe a special scene if lucky. maybe the weird bath scene coulld be replaced by one with souda, ibuki, mahiru and hiyoko together instead just to really hammer it it; dr loves its heavy handed parallels after all.

but anyway, these are just rambles, and i just really wanted my girl ibuki to see the light of day a little longer lmao.

d/r friendships I have been thinking about lately

Celeste and Chihiro: LISTENNN they have been one of my favorite combos since forever and I don’t even know why. Something about how they both change themselves to better love and protect themselves in ways that others don’t understand IDK. Also cottagecore and goth aesthetic solidarity. Also I think Celeste would help Chihiro be more confident and Chihiro would help Celeste be a little kinder. And I think them teaching each other programming and poker would be cute

Toko and Sakura: love the visual of tall intimidating Sakura with Toko hiding behind her like a sickly little chihuahua, and Toko is actually the mean one! but for real once Toko actually gives Sakura a chance I think they would be SO attached to each other. Sakura obviously is a lovely lady who protects and helps Toko talk through all sorts of stuff. And then Toko will like. completely unintentionally and casually drop a truth bomb about Sakura’s psyche that makes Sakura go “oh. I will need to reflect on that”

Akane and Fuyuhiko: I just love that they’re total opposites Fuyuhiko’s like “laws and rules are the backbone of any society” and Akane’s like “yeah I’ll steal shit idc” ALSO Akane can and will manhandle Fuyuhiko she’ll just pick him up and toss him over her shoulder. also I think they’re both so deathly afraid of vulnerability and they connect through that

Chiaki and Gundham: literally they infodump to each other CONSTANTLY. Never has there been a friendship so autistic (said extremely affectionately.) Chiaki goes off about some game series from the 2000s and Gundham rants about a certain brand of pet food and they’re both nodding and listening to each other. I just think Gundham’s utter bizarreness compliments Chiaki’s nonchalant attitude so well they are best friends!!! Also they both aren’t show-y about it but they care about other people so much, even at the cost of themselves

Kazuichi and Mahiru: LISTEN. Mahiru goes into mom friend mode BIG TIME with Kazuichi and for some reason he always listens to her. She’s like “Kaz tuck in your shirt you look so shabby!” and he’s like “okay okay fine! jeez!” like they yell at each other but you know it’s because they care a lot about the other’s wellbeing and opinion. No one knows how they became friends, not even them, but they are ride or die. I have more to say on this but words not working, the point is that they are besties

Hiyoko and Nekomaru: you KNOW I just love when one friend is tall and one friend is small and they are the perfect example of it. Love the image of Hiyoko sitting on Nekomaru’s shoulder smugly like “finally I am Taller than all you Plebs” and Nekomaru’s just laughing and happy she’s having fun. Hiyoko is being awful and mean to everyone and Nekomaru just picks her up by the back of her kimono like a cat and they go eat candy and play games until she calms down

Ryoma and Miu: okay I’ve talked about them before but they are so important to me. tiny jaded depressed guy and a tall loud crass girl and they are BESTIES. also ryoma 🤝 miu debilitating low self image issues they just show it differently

Kokichi and Angie: absolute MENACES. whenever they interact it is literally Shuichi’s worst nightmare come to life. Manipulate mansplain gaslight girlboss they do it all. Also they both redirect their insecurities and loneliness by projecting an image of self righteousness or invulnerability, they’re both like “haha this does not affect me at all!” BUT IT DOES. and I think they can bond over that

❤ Are you in the slow process of becoming one? She probably found out that you were something mythical just by analyzing your behavior. Perhaps your greed has shifted your human instincts - it has made you something more recognizable as other. Junko would probably provoke you, the chance of you being a mythical creature were… slim? Probably? Honestly, she had no idea how likely it is, and she would feel a great despair in learning that her analyzing ability has a fault. Once she learns (or in this case, she figured it out) that the two of you are soul-bonded she sees a great pride in this. She definitely tries to use your negative aura in the same way she uses Mukuro’s military abilities. She has you kill people for her and help her get out of sticky situations.

It drips from your chin, the water now cold, mixed with the chilled blood. She holds no worry, she’s patient, plus you’re content. She has to make sure you’re clean before she kisses you.

She holds a wet rag in her hand as she wipes you down. Your sunken eyes stay on her, not as a caution, but rather in admiration. She’s caring for you as if you were human again.

Truly, she does not seem to treat you any differently and it's odd. You are not the same as her - so why does she seem to think so?

❤ But she still holds an intense love for you because of how unique and dangerous you are.

❤ She loves knowing that something as powerful as you - powerful than most humans - loves her and accepts her for the ‘villain’ that she makes herself out to be.

❤ You’ll be there when the world falls apart, and you’ll be by her side whether you want to or not.

❤ Unlike everyone else she loves, she’s not too passionate about killing you or planning your murder. She predicts that you would be able to overpower anyone - it would make your murder boring. She would simply be sad, not in despair. What would be more despair-worthy is your accidental death. ‘Accidental’ is a loose word - sometimes she sends you on dangerous missions, and when she waits for you to return she is twisting and turning in her seat anxiously, excitedly.

❤ She loves scratching the sides of your head similar to how somebody would pet something adorable and tiny (as if you aren’t larger than her).

❤ She always cleans your bloodied face.

❤ Coming into too much contact with a wendigo can turn you into one as well. I’ll just leave that there.

❤ Also where she went to school before Hope's Peak is by crazy mountains and forests so if she were to meet you at any time it would be there.

❤ The soul bonding is the thing that keeps you together. Without that, there would be no allure towards you - she would be scared, terrified, even. She would be scared of you purposely hurting her. She doesn’t like getting hurt and she doesn’t feel safe around dangerous, large things. Though, Mikan has always been a bit twisted. When you hurt other people, she enjoys watching, keeping an eye on you as you devour subjects. She thinks to herself there’s the main artery, bite there, or even worse, avoid that area to make them suffer for longer.

She grabs ahold of the ankle, trying to drag it that way. Manuel work is not something that she's always used to. There are paramedics that transports patients onto the lift, there are specific nurses that handle the movement of the dead ones. She's never been asked to partake in any of that - so this is something new to her.

She tried a bag, she tried a suitcase, but the rocky and dense environment proved to be hard on her. You'd smell her coming anyway, what's the point in trying to hide it?

In her hands is another dead body for you to consume. You who could be considered a decomposer.

❤ Funny HC Despair Mikan would try to have sex with you.

❤ She likes it when you curl into her and cuddle against her chest.

❤ The time the two of you spend around each other is very short - she is very busy, often traveling all around the country, going to different islands to take care of people, where you prefer to stay in the same place.

❤ But when you guys get together then there is so much cuddling and touching, she loves wrapping her arms around your neck and holding you close.

❤ She feels love through the physical contact you give her.

❤ To be fair the only reason you don’t kill her is because you’re soul bonded.

❤ After his first encounter with you, he had never-ending nightmares. He could hardly sleep at night, worrying that the giant creature in the woods was going to find him and kill him. Which, he is right, you did find him, but your lurking never went outside of that. You knew he would be haunted by you - and at that point, your ‘work was already done’. To lure him closer, all you had to do was disappear. And it worked, he couldn’t think of anything other than you. You could feel whenever you crossed his mind. You could feel how far he was and how close he was getting until finally, he was yours.

He splashes you, immediately getting your attention away from the deer walking nearby. It's perky eyes were in contact with yours. You almost began to strike. With the water to your waist, you have a fun time hopping around through it, circling a clothless Kazuichi.

His hair leaves pink trails down his body. He dyes it rather frequently. It almost looks like blood.

You try to splash him back, the wave not strong enough, on purpose as you're trying not to drown him with one large splash.

A laugh leaves his lips. It's playful and it tingles your senses. You haven't heard somebody laugh in awhile.

He really makes you feel as if you are a mere human again.

❤ Have you ever seen the tiktok audio that says “giving my boyfriend my hand and seeing what he does *silence* *growling - cut off scream*”.

❤ You don’t let him see you feed, you try not to let him see you while you’re bloody.

❤ Most of the time when he comes to see you, you are soaking wet, skin slippery with leaves and dirt clinging to your body. You always wash yourself when you hear him coming.

❤ You almost never talk unless he talks to you first. There, he can hear your hushed voice, your kind intentions but rough delivery.

❤ How does he feel about dating a wendigo? Once it becomes a routine to go visit you, you stop giving him terror and he stops thinking about you every second of the day. Instead, he thinks about you only he sees flowers - should I pick them to give to it? - or things like food - I wonder if they can eat these.

Gundham Tanaka

❤ A new animal… good. He is completely heads over tails with you. At first, he thought it was because of his discovery of this ‘new species’. But something was different - he couldn’t figure it out. Maybe it’s because you’re more human than animal, is that why he feels this way? Do you make his heart race because you’re a predator or because you always greet him with a smile and a nudge of your head? You are similar to a vulture - a mammal vulture (else you lay eggs? he doesn’t think so. he also doesn’t want to find out.). You are his little (huge) mammal vulture.

Truly an animal, he writes. Animalistic in nature and often behavior.

Though the speaking patterns are human - more than a raven, for it knows the words it is speaking and can comprehend them on a level higher than mockery.

But it feeds as if it has cravings beyond what we can imagine. It is always hungry, always wanting more of anything.

It's one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen.

He writes in his little hand-sized pad, eyes flickering from both your feeding body and the paper. It's for his blog, of course. He talks about you in code a lot.

❤ Whether you live in his house or stay in the woods is really your choice. I just think you’re absolutely going to eat his animals so win some lose some.

❤ Sorry I imagine him playing with you like a cat with a little laser.

❤ Out of all of these characters, he’s probably the one that doesn’t mind staying in the forest all day the most. He’s not social, he doesn’t need the space of other people, he is much more content being alone with you. He has no worry about predators like wolves or certain monkeys - you can take anything down.

❤ You are his great ‘weapon’ (he doesn’t use you as a weapon ever but it fuels his imagination to think that he could).

❤ I believe that he talks about you and brags about you all the time to his friends like Sonia but no one believes him and just thinks it’s another one of his made-up concepts.

❤ He is very good at memorizing your patterns (since he’s an animal breeder it’s probably hormonal). He wonders if there are others of your kind!! You can’t be the only one, right?

❤ He might be so involved in the science behind you that he will eventually come to the conclusion that you were once human (honestly he could have just asked but there’s no fun in that - he likes being smart).

❤ ^ Idk maybe the fact that you can talk influenced this conclusion, who knows.

Shinguuji Korekiyo

❤ Ever since he first came across you, he’s known what you are. You are distinguished - a unique folk. He was watching you, you were aware of his presence, deciding not to give him the fear of realizing you knew, so you act clueless. He was beautiful, you wanted to keep him there for as long as you could. Don’t leave, you had begged, your voice echoing through the woods, the environment giving no explanation as to how. He came closer. He’s always been bold. He’s never been very brave, however, so this choice goes beyond him. He knows how dangerous you are - yet his soul was instilling inside him a sense of trust. That’s how he knew something between the two of you was special, it was altering his solemn mindset.

You sniff around his body, trying to think of the sent. America? He smells of deep trees and heavy artificials. Where is it that he came back from?

You cannot tell if he even understands your intention, the way his yellow eyes stay locked on you gives you a sense of caution.

Are you worrying him?

To try and calm him down, you open your mouth, grabbing ahold of it with your mouth and just holding it there peacefully, waiting to see what he would do.

The two of you just stare at each other, his eyes squinting analytically and yours wide with innocence.

"Whatever is the matter?" He soothes, bandaged hand brushing against the sensitive flesh of your face, patting your cheek, to which to let his hair go.

❤ Him keeping his distance is both unintentional and planned. He tries not to have too much contact with you, rather preferring to do simple things like read while you curl up in his lap than sleeping beside you in the wilderness or cuddling.

❤ Literal distance wise, he travels all over the world, and you’re meetings with him are often rare in times where he’s actually doing something and not just traveling for fun.

❤ Though truthfully, most of the time he’s traveling to North America and Canada, meeting with the people in the various tribes and getting their details about the folk of wendigos and whether they believe them or not.

❤ And they do. They do believe them, so much that they will hardly utter the name. So interesting, sometimes, when he’s safe inside, he finds himself muttering the name. Will you hear him? Or will something else?

❤ He lives mainly in a very central part of Osaka so to go near the more nature parts of the area he'd just quickly travel east to east Yao. There's a cute little mountain range over there, too.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu

❤ He has a lot of weapons under his wings. He holds a lot of care for both you and Peko - even if you are a new addition to the family. He never thought you would hurt him, even when he witnessed you eating other people alive. The hardest part was convincing Peko that you were not a threat. He worded it as soulmate - you were his soulmate, to which Peko thought about your bloodied mouth and your tight flesh and thought soulmate?

Your large body tries its best to be sneaky. You approach them from behind, showing yourself to the harsh light - such a sunny day it is! You can see the illuminated buildings in the distance, their windows reflecting such pride. You can also see the light in Peko's eyes when she immediately turns your way, drawing her sword, sensing you creeping up behind them.

It doesn't touch the skin of your neck - you're too high for her to reach.

Fuyuhiko turns at her sudden movement.

"There's no threat," he commands, waving her off.

She only retreats when you make a fake purring noise, nudging yourself closer to him to show your interest.

He says, "there's no threat at all."

❤ Tbh you probably didn’t eat him because he’d be a bad meal, shape wise.

❤ He absolutely does use you as a weapon when he can and he’s not really even ashamed of it.

❤ He loves letting you hold him - it feels as if he is being treated as a king. He feels like a god that has a familiar.

❤ He falls asleep against you quite often. You don’t know what to do - he’s so small and thin, he’s so careful. You don’t want to hurt him. When you want to wake him up you just knock your head against his.

❤ Oh there are huge nature-y parts where he lives, he would have no problem visiting you or walking over to your territory. You're practically in his backyard.

At first she just thought you were shy about your body. But she did notice that you worked hard to cover the scars specifically.

"Y/N~~ There is nothing for you to hide, God loves us all no matter our imperfections" she clapped her hands "I also love you so much! If there is any problem you're having just talk to me"

So she started complimenting your looks more and more often. Especially the area where your scars were located.

When you were cuddling her hands were all over you. She likes squeezing you but she also likes to run her fingers over your scars. But she does it to every little spot on your body.

She may not look like it but she's really mad. From the fact that something pushed you towards harming yourself to now even though you're healed the reminder stayed.

But her inner anger shall remain ever so invisible. Your feelings are far more important to her.

Korekiyo Shinguji

The ugly and the beauty are two sides of one coin. On the one side we have a beautiful Y/N strong enough to overcome their weaknesses and on the other we have ugly cruelty of this world that pushed them to harm in the first place.

He was well aware of your insecurity and he never said a word about it, he just didn't think it was in place for him to speak. But as he noticed how much you struggle he knew he couldn't stand by any longer.

"Pardon my bluntness Y/N but what do you think of your scars?" he didn't know how else to begin this conversation even though he already knew the answer- you hated them.

"I see, I understand how you feel but... Can I help you accept them? I of course see them much differently than you do- that's for certain- but can't I do anything to make you feel better about them?"

Whatever your answer was- if you had it, he followed it. No questions asked, whatever it may be.

He encourages you to be as comfortable as you can be. So if covering your scars is what gives you that comfort he may even assist you... But he still would like you to see that you shouldn't feel ashamed when you're with him.

Gundham Tanaka

He was a bit dense but it didn't take long for him to realize how you feel about your scars... But he wanted to hear it from you.

So he decided to be indirectly direct and you ended up admitting it. Although he expected it he was a little surprised.

"My love you had me fooled for I was unaware of how truly blind you are. The scars of inner war aren't something one should be ashamed of. Do not fear to reveal them to me" his tone was loud and serious yet comforting and soft.

He's not the most affectionate as you already know, but he makes the effort to hold you close whenever you need it. If he catches you staring at the scars with that look on your face he'd turn you towards him and let your eyes focus on his as his hands held onto yours... And since it's quite unusual for Gundham to do this kind of thing it certainly works.

He wouldn't force you to show the scars in public if you're uncomfortable, he just wants you to feel no shame when you're with him.

After all your bond is stronger than anything that can stand in your way. He doesn't fear to be more vulnerable around you so he only hopes for you to do the same.

Sonia Nevermind

She felt a bit lost for words when she caught you mumbling to yourself one day... About your scars.

She couldn't help it but try to help. Although she didn't know what to do. The way you see your scars is probably giving you a lot of feelings you don't want to feel.

When she had the courage to begin a conversation she didn't expect herself to get so emotional.

"Although I know how you feel, I still can't believe it! When I look at you I don't see scars nor do I see weakness. I see you: amazing, beautiful Y/N I love and cherish" she couldn't help but tear up a little and she couldn't fully control the volume of her voice so it did sound like she was yelling at you.

She knew she shouldn't react that way. So later on she apologized and from that moment she decided to show your appreciation more.

She wanted you to know that your scars aren't something you should feel bad about. Sure if hiding them gives you comfort she won't force you to show them off, but her goal is for you to feel okay with having them.

So be prepared for she will give you a lot of motivational speeches.

I think Akane and Nidai were deatines4to vibe no matter what, it's there from the start. They wouldve been so close regardless I think.

Same with Sonia at Gundham, just because the interests align that way. Idk if he wouldve given her much mind in the sea of people though, unless she made the first move.

Peko and Fuyuhiko were a thing before everything, and because Ibuki has a thing for Peko- and seems to genuinely enjoy her, AND is willing to throw a party for shithead Fuyuhiko- I think the three of them could've been friends eventually? I think Ibuki could win anyone over tbh.

Hiyoko enjoys Ibuki's music, so they coulda been friends! Maybe Ibuki could've calmed Hiyoko the fuck down in regards to Mikan.

Teruteru and Akane would've been....like, friends, but for the wrong reasons, I feel.

Mikan and Nidai could've been friends too! He cares a lot about people's health, so does she. He is very respectful towards women, she has boundary issues. They both don't really seem to get "normal" social interactions. He could've been s good influence on hher through their mutual priorities!

Gundham and Souda should've been able to connect, but barring that, they might hate each other for how alike they are. So, Nevermind (hehe)

Impostor and Hajime could totally bond tbh. They both have this sense of responsibility for other people, thought Hajime is more unwilling.

Sonia and Fuyuhiko could've had a mutual understanding of Family and Responsibility and Being More Than Just You and Title First, Person Second

I think Nekomaru and Gundham could've been awesome friends, Nekomaru would totally respect Gundham's 'resolve' or whatever and Gundham would obviously respect Nekomaru's intense strength and dark determination or whatever.

For that matter, Sonia could take an interest in Fuyuhiko and Peko and their criminal lives.

Peko and Gundham bond over animal love, Gundham is the only one who understands Peko's struggle and guides her on like, controlling her aura to let animals near her, or something. She gets to pet his hamhams and almost falls in love then and there. She's the samurai assassin of his dreams- yknow what they make a lot of sense actually.

That's a lot of thoughts but I feel like I could have more! Take this for now.

Hi! I’m here to bring you yet another Danganronpa tier list: the sexuality tier list, which you can find here.

Now I’m going to be honest here: I don’t really have any LGBT headcanons. It’s just not really something I focus on much when it comes to fandoms. Instead I usually just focus on ships, and as a result from that I tend to present a lot of characters as LGBT in fanfictions and posts I’ve made or reblogged. In other words, a massive chunk of my “headcanons” here are a direct result of shipping (as well as information I’ve picked up from the games themselves). That being said, it was interesting to actually think about this for once, so I’m kinda glad I did the tier list. And it gave me an excuse to bring back the rainbow color scheme I usually put in my tier lists for aesthetic reasons.

The original tier list had Straight at the top, but I moved it to the bottom for two reasons. One, this is Tumblr and that’s not what you’re here for. Two, I gave it a neutral color, and having a gray section next to a white section (i.e. the title of the list) like that looked bad to me. I definitely prefer this setup just on aesthetic alone.

Because this is largely based on ships, I feel it needs to be said that representation does not factor into this chart in any way. I know it probably looks bad that the only character in the Lesbian category is one of my least favorite (though NOT hated or even disliked, I should point out) characters in the main series. That has nothing to do with the fact that she’s a lesbian. She’s just a jerk, and usually not in a way that’s at least entertaining enough for me to like her.

Also keep in mind that this is just the main cast of the main series games. If you were to include characters from the DR3 anime, UDG, or the spin-offs, the Gay, Lesbian, and Ace categories would get more rep, certainly. Think Juzo, Yui, Takemichi, that gay guy with the trumpet, etc.

With that said, let’s go through the list:

Gay

Not gonna lie, one of the reasons why Rantaro is here (and not in Ace) is because of ships. Though I do sometimes ship him with girls, canon suggests he’s not interested in dating girls, and most fans seem to headcanon him as either gay or ace because of this, so I respected that. That being said, I also acknowledge he’s a very popular character in mlm ships, and at the time I was putting this together I hadn’t gotten to Taka yet so the Gay tier was still empty, and Byakuya was already sitting in Ace, so all of that swayed me to putting Rantaro here instead of Ace.

Taka was much easier to place here. He strikes me as a closeted gay man who probably doesn’t even realize he is gay. “Hey, let’s all hang out in the bath, guys! Getting naked is essential to form bonds with your fellow man! No need to be ashamed, it’s tradition!"

Lesbian

Again, ships. I only ship Hiyoko with one other character, and as soon as I say that you already know who she is.

Bisexual (Male Preference)

Akane is mostly here to account for any wlw ships I may have of her (e.g. Hina, Sonia maybe). Obviously she has a thing with Nekomaru, so Male Preference.

Chiaki is here for the same reason as Akane. I’ve shipped her with characters like Sonia and Ibuki before, but she really digs Hajime.

Chihiro honestly could have been anywhere in the Bi and Pan sections, but I ultimately went with Male Preference because of ships, specifically the fact that outside of the more... R18 circles of the Interwebs Chihiro tends to be shipped with guys more often than girls. Also doesn’t hurt that my OTP is Naehiro. I mean, have you seen how often Chihiro blushes around Makoto? (There’s more to it than that, as I’ve covered in the past. I’m just trying to add more fuel to the fire.)

Himiko is probably one of the few characters that isn’t here mainly because of ships. I do think she has some attachment towards Tenko, but I also get “I’m uncomfortable around her” vibes from her, and there are moments where she seems to crush on Kokichi (of all people) so that’s why she’s here. Still very much bi, though.

Hina has a crush on Makoto and has a complex around wishing she was more feminine so she can attract boys. So why isn’t she in the Straight section? ...Because Sakura, duh. And Kyoko too. And any other wlw ship you can think of that might work with Hina.

Honestly if it wasn’t for Miu I probably would have considered putting Kokichi in Gay. Again, while shipping plays a big part of my choices here, much like with Rantaro I have no qualms with putting a character in a tier that contradicts any ships I might have with that character, if those ships aren’t something I’m super invested in. This is a very important distinction, because it’s why I let ships sway my hand for so many of these even if I am also okay with going “Just because I ship this doesn’t mean I headcanon it” as I did with Rantaro. And honestly Kokichi’s ship teasing with Himiko does come off as more trollish than a sign that he’s into her, but he really gets into his back-and-forth with Miu, in my personal opinion, and he gets into it far more often with her for that matter. It’s why it’s one of my favorite ships for both of them tbh, and it’s because I like the ship so much that I just can’t ignore it for this sexuality headcanon tier list.

Maki... is here because of ships (e.g. Kaede).

Sakura... is here because of ships (e.g. Hina). ...What, you were expecting me to put a guy in the example? Remember, she has a boyfriend in canon.

Sayaka... is here because of... NOT ships, but DRAT. Yes, really. (”We really got down and dirty, Naegi-kun.”)

Sonia... strikes me as someone who swings both ways. I can’t describe exactly why I feel that way, but yes.

Bisexual (No Preference)

Celeste wants a harem of vampire boys but shipping her with Kyoko is also very popular and honestly i feel like it would fit her character. She’s got a look that says “I could get any ass I want and I know it.”

Ibuki is decked out in blues and pinks, and also I ship her fairly evenly among both boys and girls. She just screams bi icon to me, more so than any other character in the series.

Junko is either bi with no preferences or pan. She is an equal opportunity heart-and-soul-breaker and lust-for-despair machine.

There is no Mukuro in this list, but honestly I would probably put her where I put Junko anyway.

Kaede... is here because of ships (e.g. Miu, Maki)

Honestly I had no idea where to put Kirumi, so I just randomly chose one that I wouldn’t regret later if I ever put more thought into who I shipped her with.

I’m pretty sure Nagito being bisexual has some degree of canon attached to it??? I think??? I’m not entirely sure tbh, but fuck it. I’m doing this for fun anyway, so this doesn’t really matter.

Shuichi, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. I also find him to be more shippable with guys than the other two protags, so IMO he has no preference.

Toko might have a thing or two for pretty boys, but... Komaru, I mean, this isn’t exactly shocking, I don’t think. Probably was closeted before she met Komaru. I mean she did focus on Hina’s boobs a lot in DR1, let’s not forget.

Tsumugi, much like Kirumi, is here because I haven’t put much thought into her ships.

Bisexual (Female Preference)

Gundham has a thing with Sonia in canon, but I can see him being bi. So... yeah, ships again.

Hajime, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. It’s just that his Chiaki and Mikan game is just too strong.

Hifumi might claim to only like 2D, but his interest in Chihiro both in human form and computer program form (and the fact that this didn’t go away after the gender reveal) places him here.

Kaito strikes me as a closeted bisexual. The kind that could start any given conversation with “I’m not gay, but...”

Kazuichi also strikes me as a closeted bisexual, only his “I’m not gay, but...” is rooted more in dumbass than it is in systematic homophobia.

Korekiyo... is here because of ships (e.g. Rantaro).

Kyoko is bi as fuck, and I can see her having a preference towards girls in particular. She gets shipped with girls a lot (e.g. Celeste, Hina, Yui, and even Junko and Mukuro), and when she is shipped with boys it’s usually just pretty boys (e.g. Makoto, Byakuya, Ryota, Shuichi, and, depending on your interpretation, Chihiro). Also note that aside from Makoto and maybe Byakuya, Kyoko’s girl ships are far more popular than her boy ships. Just something I’ve noticed over the years.

Leon... is here because of ships (e.g. Chihiro).

Mahiru is here because I’m pretty sure she has a thing for Hajime in her FTEs, but obviously she tends to get shipped with girls more often (especially Hiyoko), and I agree.

Makoto, like all Danganronpa protags, is bi as fuck. It’s just that his Kyoko, Hina, Sayaka, and Mukuro game is just too strong.

Mikan may be interested in Hajime somewhat, but her obsession with Junko cannot be ignored, no matter how much some of you may want to.

Mondo is another character that strikes me as a closeted bisexual. He is said to strike out all the time with girls, so I do think he’s attracted to women. And I do get some vibes that he’s attracted to Chihiro pre-reveal. And if circumstances had been different, I imagine he probably still would have been post-reveal. But obviously it’s his bond with Taka that I feel cements his sexuality in, at the very least, an mlm category.

Tenko... is here NOT because of ships, but because I’m pretty sure she’s at least sort of interested in Shuichi because of some canon thing... and also I don’t want to put her in Lesbian just because it feels like I’d be stereotyping the Lesbian category if I do that. If we were to compare her to the character that I did put in Lesbian, Hiyoko doesn’t treat people like shit because they’re men, she’s an equal-opportunity asshole. Still not the best representation for lesbians by a long shot, but at least Hiyoko doesn’t follow the stereotype of a man-hating lesbian. She’s just like that, and that’s okay. But putting Tenko there, especially if she’s shown some degree of interest in a male character at some point in the game, just rubs me the wrong way personally, because it would feel like I’m ignoring canon just to stereotype her. But that’s just a personal hang up of mine. No disrespect intended toward anyone who genuinely feels that Tenko is a lesbian. Maybe you see something there that I don’t, and that’s perfectly fine.

Pansexual

I don’t remember exactly how her FTEs went, so I’m not going to get into that, but Angie just comes off as pan to me, like gender doesn’t fit into the equation at all for her.

Gonta I can see as either pan or ace. I feel like he wouldn’t care about gender, and honestly the only reason I decided to put him in Pan rather than Ace is because of that scene with Miu.

Imposter is not only pan, they are currently OT3ing it up with Ibuki and Ryota as we speak, and that’s a fact.

Keebo... is mostly here because of ships. A lot of ships, actually. Mostly male ships (Kokichi, Shuichi, Kazuichi, and, depending on your interpretation, Chihiro) but there’s also Miu to consider. And the Miu game is SO strong that I put him in Pan instead of, say, Male Preference.

Just gonna lump them together because I have the same thing to say about both of them: Miu and Teruteru would **** anything that walks. What did I censor? Well, I’m doing the Nier: Automata thing, so you can put whatever you want in there and trust me, it would probably fit, for better or for worse.

Ace

I know this is an unpopular opinion, because Naegami, but I just don’t think Byakuya is interested in anyone, at least not in that way. He might be fascinated with how common people live, because it’s so foreign to him, but that’s about it.

Straight

Even though I do ship Fuyuhiko with some of the boys, his Peko game is so strong that honestly I can’t see him actually dating anyone aside from Peko outside of some very niche fanfiction.

Honestly, Hiro was another one that I was just like “I have no idea what to do with you.” I think maybe his team up with Kanon made me eventually choose to put him in Straight? I don’t remember. I clearly didn’t put much thought into Hiro.

I really only ship Nekomaru with Akane, so that’s why he’s here. I’m sure if I dive deep enough into my psyche I can pull an mlm ship with Nekomaru in it out of my ass, but like Rantaro that wouldn’t be significant enough to change anything.

Peko is in the same boat as Fuyuhiko. I have shipped her with girls before, but her Fuyuhiko game is just too strong.

Ryoma had a girlfriend once, and as far as I can remember he didn’t really seem interested in anybody in the game, so that’s all I have to go off of for him.

So there you have it. Explanations for literally all of them! Explanations that were definitely not pulled out of my ass as I was typing them, nope, certainly not. Definitely won’t be tagging all of them, but I may tag the ones with the longest entries. And like all the tier lists I’ve done, this was just for fun and honestly any opinion I have for any of these characters could change at a moment’s notice because my brain is fickle like that. Tried my best to make sure that every tier had at least one character in it, but I did so without trying to force characters in places that I personally did not believe they should go. I hope you all enjoyed my dive into this area of fandom that I rarely dive into (the LGBT headcanons, not the ships, obviously). It was a lot of fun, and hopefully it will stay fun and not result in angry anons blasting me for my opinions. I am grateful that this never seems to happen to me, but I’ve seen it happen to others and I know what Tumblr is capable of at its worst. These are just headcanons and a matter of personal opinion, and if you disagree with them, that’s perfectly okay. Your feelings and opinions are also valid.

Korekiyo, Kaito and Gundham cuddling headcannons

Korekiyo Shinguji:

·       You groaned hearing a knock at the door. You opted to stay in bed. Upon hearing that seemingly incessant knocking again you threw yourself off the bed and trudged to the door. “What is it?” You didn’t care that the sheer bitterness seeped into your tone, you just wanted this encounter to be over with. “Ah, I apologize Y/N, but you have not been answering your phone, nor had anyone seen you leave your dorm room. You have not even showed up to class or your lab, so I thought I’d check up on you.” “Kiyo! I’m sorry, I didn’t realize.” Now you so regretted using that spiteful tone. Though his lips were covered by that mask you could see a smile in his eyes. “It’s quite alright. You are in some trouble I presume?” You were silent for a moment before a sigh escape you. You seemed to deflate and just looked exhausted. You took a step back, allowing the man into your room.

·       Kiyo never actively seeked out cuddles, but he was more than willing to accept them. Platonic, or romantic, didn’t matter, to him cuddles were cuddles and should someone want to do so with him, it was like an honor. For you and Kiyo it became a sort of routine that should the other be having a bad day, they would come to the other in their dorm room and cuddle on the bed.

·       Kiyo did not have any positions he preferred, he simply followed your lead and did whatever you wanted. That day in particular you hugged him tight, his back pressed against you as you buried your face into it. He didn’t say a word, he simply reached a hand back, gently patting your head and with his other hand held one of yours. After a few minuets you began to slowly vent your ever-piling list of frustrations that seemed to somehow grow larger and larger even just staying in your room. How you wanted to avoid snapping at anyone or to avoid your day getting worse, but… that didn’t seem to pan out.

·       On some other day as you were heading to the library, Kokichi ran passed you laughing like a mad man carrying something, moments later Korekiyo ran past you as well. After you finished your work, you shot Kiyo a quick text asking where he was. When the only response you got was ‘dorm room’. You knew you were nowhere fast or clever enough to catch Kokichi so the least you could do was comfort Kiyo after. You rested your head on his chest and Kiyo held you ever so tightly, muttering to himself about perhaps asking Miu to make a new security system again to try to keep Kokichi from stealing any more items.

·       For Kiyo, cuddling with a friend or loved one was the ultimate stress relief. Holding close someone he cared for swept his worries away. He simply loved it and enjoyed knowing he could bring you and others the same comfort through that same action.

   Kaito Momota:

·       “Alright! It’s cuddling time!” You, Maki, and Shuichi all looked to the Luminary of the stars in confusion. “No.” Maki then stood up from the table you all had been doing your homework on as if she were going to leave. “Kaito, I… Why?” It appeared Shuichi wanted to say more but was taken so aback by the question he couldn’t bring himself to say more. “Yeah Kaito. I don’t get this either.” He smirked. Making his way around the table he stood between you and Shuichi, draping his arms over your shoulders, pulling the pair of you close as he looked to you two before his gaze landed on Maki. “Team building! Cuddling and physical contact in general are great ways of communication and increases bonds among friend and teammates like us! Cuddling also lowers blood pressure and is proven to relieve stress and pain. And it just feels good!”

·       And that was how Kaito made sure he cuddled with the three of you at least once a week.

·       He’d gleefully go to your dorm, and if you didn’t seem to be doing much or were over working yourself he’d tell you it was time for your weekly cuddle session before dragging you to the bed. If you declined, he would back off.

·       Kaito always insisted he be the big spoon or that you rest against him, cradling your head in his lap or resting yourself against his chest, things like that. Even if you tried reversing roles Kaito would refuse saying he much preferred this positioning. However, on one particularly long, exhausting day you and Kaito flopped on his bed. You slowly stirred from your slumber, a warm feeling blooming in your chest seeing the stars and galaxy that was dimly projected onto the walls and ceiling. Hugging Kaito a little tighter you realized your positioning. You were the big spoon! You also noticed something else. Sitting up a little you saw how Kaito was grinning from ear to ear, he even nuzzled into you a little when you slightly shifted. His eyes fluttered open as he looked over his shoulder. Then he abruptly sat up. “Good, you’re awake! Feeling rested?” A soft, light shade of pink dusted his cheeks. You tried hiding it, but it was so difficult to hold back your devilish smile, and giddy laughter. So Kaito Momota did in fact like being the little spoon, loving it in fact.

·       You and Shuichi were winded after a rigorous evening of training, nagging Kaito to finish his curl-ups as Maki simply watched having finished long ago. When he got us for the last curl, you wrapped your arms around him. “Cuddle time!” You dragged him forward, back to the ground, face first now. With a hand on the back of his head you rested his head against your chest. Shuichi and Maki tackled Kaito, hugging both he and you from the sides. “Yes! Good on you for taking the lead my sidekicks, but Y/N let’s switch-” “Nope!” No matter what he said none of you were letting Kaito go. Reluctantly he gave in, wanting to encourage this new tenacity in the three of you. He blushed and sighed accepting his fate. He liked this, he really did, but felt much too embarrassed to admit it much to his chagrin. What made this even better was the fact all four of you were under the cover of stars, watching as they slowly drifted by. It was simply lovely… Kaito decided the four of you should have cuddle sessions after training more often.

   Gundham Tanaka:

·       You and the Dark Lord of Ice had been best friend for years. It was a long and slow process befriending one another, but in the end you two now had a companion closer to you than any other. In your time together you learned so much about animals and other creatures of all sorts. You sat side by side on the couch in his apartment, you mindlessly scrolling through your phone as Gundham fed his Generals some treats. “Hmm… Hey, Gundham?” “You have my attention.” You scooched over to him and held out your phone. There was a picture of some otters hugging one another. You then scrolled more, finding other picture of cats, dogs, even swans and many more embracing each other. “Staged, or real?” “… Those are all true moments of affection.” You placed your phone into your pocket. Once you did one of the Devas hopped into your lap, demanding pats to which you happily gave. “… All creatures, unless solidary creatures, crave companionship and affection, even from other species, right?” “Certainly. But it’s not only that. Showing affection speaks of the same sentiment as sleeping near another. It shows you have the utmost trust in the other to allow yourself to be in such a vulnerable position around them.”

·       “… Are you touched starved?” Gundham flinched, caught off guard by the question. “Because your skin is poison to the touch except by your companion creatures do you get enough affection?” It was only recently had Gundham started allowing some small touches on the skin. Sure you could touch his bandaged or clothed parts of him just fine before, but skin to skin contact is so vastly different, to Gundham at least. “I know you say you’re only temporarily mortal but, you’re still human now, and humans are highly social creatures. And one such way of communication is touch.” “… That is indeed true.” “Hey, place your feet on the couch.” You scooched back, giving him room. Though confused, he trusted you and did as told. You also placed your feet up, interlocking your legs. “Though clothed, this is bigger contact than accidently grazing hands.”

·       Slowly but surely you and Gundham got more acclimated to bigger touches. It first started with things that weren’t really too claustrophobic, like laying on the ground with your backs pressed against one another or laying your head in one another’s lap.

·       One day as Gundham exited the shower he realized the shirt he had set aside to wear had a stain on it that needed to be washed right away should he hope to save it. Only in a pair of shorts he made his way to his room to get something else. That was till he spotted you. You were laying on the ground, surrounded by a few pillows acting as a makeshift barrier, keeping the Generals penned, though if they truly wanted too they could have easily escaped. You simply played with them, luring them about with some treats you had made for them. In that moment… nostalgia hit him like an ocean wave against cliffs. He recalled how the two of you met. Funny to think back then he had no idea that chance meeting was going to change his life forever. You had been through hell and back with him, standing by one another’s side no matter what life threw you way. “Hmm? You want something Gundham?” He hadn’t realized it, but while lost in thought he had walked up to you… You truly were one of his greatest companions… His best friend. He kneeled down beside you and you assumed to greet and play with his Generals, so you didn’t think much of it. What did surprise you was how he so stiffly laid down, resting his head atop your chest. He even moved your arm out of the way as to not lay atop it, and hesitantly he draped it over himself. You were so shocked and in a state of disbelief you didn’t notice that slowly his eyes drooped closed as he fell asleep.

·       It was rarer, but he’d go to you for cuddles when he was ready. But after each cuddle he’d come back for more sooner. At first it was months till he sought out cuddles, then eventually weeks, then soon he’d come to you every few days or so seeking out the affection. Neither of you ever spoke during these times. Gundham would simply lean his head against your chest or his back against your stomach. He’d never say it, but he felt being the little spoon was a more vulnerable position to be in and… even if he’d feel more comfortable in some other position, he wanted to be as vulnerable as he could to show you he trusted you. Action speaks louder than words, and he deeply, truly wanted you to understand that fact, not just hear him say it.

The Tragedy: So basically the whole thing with (Y/n) is that her parents were just so overcritical to the point where it rooted her complex and felt like they never loved her, right? So basically, Junko was able to attack that by showing her the bare minimum affection and introducing Mikan into the mix, who was in a similar boat with being unloved. Junko made them both feel as though she was the best love they could ever have and then made them compete for it at any opportunity she could.

Mikan always loved Junko but she doesn’t love (Y/n) the same way and vice versa, despite that, they do both care for each other very deeply. They desire no relationship in each other and even view each other as rivals who happen to find somewhat of a friendship together. Mikan thinks, and always has, that (Y/n) is much more talented and worthy of Junko than she is. However, (Y/n), being deeply insecure far below the surface - never stopped thinking that Mikan was more beautiful and worthy of Junko than she was.

They find both comfort and hatred in each other due to Junko making them act as competition. They both know the pain of Junko’s rejection but they also both know that if the other was out of the way, they could have Junko all to themselves.

When (Y/n) found out Mikan took Junko’s womb, it was a betrayal due to the fact that she didn’t know beforehand, Mikan had never said anything about taking Junko’s uterus. And on top of that, she found out that Mikan had tried conceiving a despair child during their separation. Even though neither of them loves each other, they know their relationship can be viewed as lovers - they often view it as such themselves - and so, (Y/n) felt as though Mikan had cheated on her. She basically had. Even so, she still knows that nothing could make her hate Mikan, she doesn’t love her as she did Junko, but she loves her more than any other woman she’d ever known. Mikan is the only grounding she’s ever known and the only person to ever relate to her on such an intimate level.

Going back to the feeling of Mikan being prettier than her, (Y/n) stole Junko’s face entirely because of that feeling of inferiority. She never told Mikan because she was ashamed to admit that she was insecure, it would make her imperfect to be insecure.

Overall, she’s never loved Mikan as a girlfriend but they’ve always been all the other had during The Tragedy despite their ‘rivalry’ and insecurities surrounding the other.

After Neoworld: (Y/n) is definitely nervous to be around Mikan because of their history with each other and Junko. Before Mikan wakes up from the program she’s constantly worried about if the nurse will hate her or be disgusted by her. The way Mikan had treated her right before her execution hinted at some tenderness buried beneath discontent, but that could always change. When Mikan wakes up she immediately looks for (Y/n) on pure instinct.

They definitely try to help each other heal and cope with Junko’s manipulation and lies. They both have come to realize that Junko never loved either of them and they didn’t love each other - any of the comforts they had gathered in The Tragedy was a lie and they help each other through that realization.

“You’re more than what she made you.” is a common phrase between them because they know she only made them compete for her own entertainment and their despair.

It was cruel and they have to live with every emotional and physical scar from that time. But they still have each other.

Any sense of rivalry has dripped away from their bond and is now wholly intertwined by genuine friendship and connection. By their experiences and how they’re growing away from Junko and into themselves. Eventually, all their conversations stop being about Junko and healing and start being about a pretty shell Mikan found on the beach. Or how the water looks so inviting, they should go for a swim.

Or how the chairs need repainting.

Or how some flowers outside the front door would be lovely.

Or how good breakfast was this morning.

Kazuichi Souda:

The Tragedy: Kazuichi wasn’t as “enamored” with (Y/n) as he was Sonia, but he respected her Ultimate and higher intelligence enough to also refer to her as ‘miss’ when they went to school. Though he largely stopped calling her ‘Miss (Y/n)’ during The Tragedy he still respects her a lot and is even a little scared of her sometimes. Again, she’s way smarter than he is - she’s not a super genius like Izuru but she’s a smart cookie and he’s not so delusional to think he’s near her in intellect. So the fact she can copy his Ultimate status and be smarter than most people in their class is quite intimidating for him at times.

Because of the confidence she projects and her charisma and, again, higher intelligence than his, he often follows her word and example without much thought. Like if he saw her jump off a cliff, he would probably go along with it because he knows she probably has some plan to get out of the situation safely.

(Y/n) views Kazuichi sort of as a little brother - but one that follows you around like a puppy and always bugs you. She doesn’t expect much other than blind support from him and kind of accepts that he’s her “sidekick” so to speak. They didn’t view each other as equals or even true comrades - (Y/n) was always just better and that went unquestioned. She definitely used him to gain without putting much thought into the long-term of their relationship.

After Neoworld: Kazuichi had regained his memories in chunks as they left the program and at least could recall being so-called friends with (Y/n). When they awoke, they didn’t talk to each other that often since Kazuichi was extremely bitter about how she’d treated them all in the program (and him as a Remnant) and so she was left alone with Hajime.

It’s only as she actually begins healing and expressing more humane traits that he starts talking to her again. Neither apologizes for anything specific, they just aren’t those kinds of people and both parties can let it go easy enough - they’d both done horrific things and they know that. He invites her into his warehouse to take apart the Monokumas, he offers to go on walks along the beach with her - he finds it nice to be in her presence again.

Because even after what they’d been through, I feel like he does still deeply respect her due to her talent. He just also has gained more confidence in himself while in the program and therefore has more sense to not let her control his actions. Which, he finds that she hasn’t tried doing and that always encourages him to keep coming back.

Kazuichi thrives on positive feedback and (Y/n) knows this, so every time she can she’s expressing how much he means to her as a dear companion - both of them being hesitant to actually label themselves friends. Especially Kazuichi, who had already been hit by poor friendship and trust issues, remembering that (Y/n) used him during The Tragedy makes his brain go fuzzy on how he feels about her. Sometimes he’s angry and other times he forgives her wholeheartedly because he knows she’s sick and he wants her to be able to maintain the friendships that he’s able to.

I think it’s after she apologizes to everyone, pre-Nagito waking up but post Gundham and Nekomaru, that he really just lets go of everything.

It’s not easy to forget that he was just her tool but he knows that she’s better now and they start hanging out more often, by themselves, having a good ol’ time talking about absolute nonsense.

Respect turns into admiration.

Nagito Komaeda:

The Tragedy: So I’d already mentioned that (Y/n) influenced him into becoming Servant, but I wanna expand on that before digging into anything else. At heart, Nagito is a people pleaser to the Ultimates, and none more than the copycat who can master pretty much anything she wants. During their school years, she didn’t see anyone as her equal and that resonated with Nagito’s inferiority complex and while she hates people who have no confidence, she would hate to be like everyone else more. So she kinda just accepted the servitude that came with befriending Nagito on the first day of school up until The Tragedy where he practically begged her to take him with her wherever she went.

She was the first one to really hold onto his chain, both literally and metaphorically. He joined the Ultimate Despair with Junko to create a despair to overcome, but only (Y/n) was allowed to actually touch him - or else he started throwing a huge fit. 

In order to spread despair and crush Nagito’s everlasting obsession with hope, she probably intentionally ignores and neglects him when he needs her.

This largely means when he’s mourning/remembering his parents and dog or his illnesses or when he’s falling into despair and needs her to pull him out, she’s just watching and doing nothing.

In fact, when Nagito had brought up his plans to join the Warriors of Hope he was really hoping she’d speak against it, and she didn’t. She actually encouraged it. Pushing him to leave her alone and join the WOH. It hurt, of course, it would, but he left all the same and they hadn’t spoken since despite their ‘friendship’. (Y/n) never bothered going after him, again to crush his love of hope. 

She left him unhinged, alone, sick to fend for himself until he found the WOH, and even when he found them - she didn’t seem to care whether they let him live or killed him.

After Neoworld: Honestly? To say that she mourns Nagito, and her entire relationship with Nagito, is a huge fucking understatement. Especially as the others begin waking up and Hajime helps her grow, she just gets more and more depressed over her situation with Nagito. And as he takes longer and longer to wake up, she begins to accept that she was horrible to him and doesn’t deserve his forgiveness.

Before The Tragedy even, since they’d met. She always treated him with as little human respect as she could - she did it with everyone but especially him. He was basically just a little errand boy she liked to talk to and she didn’t treat him as more. During their time in despair, she was barely around for him, only holding him together when the others pushed her to do it because he was being annoying. She was so awful to the man she always claimed was her closest friend. And she wants him to hate her for it so bad.

Then he wakes up and he sees her and he smiles. He could never hate her and it only makes her feel worse.

Nagito sees how much she’s changed and he begins changing too, she tells him about how Hajime has helped her so much and he begins to follow her around with Hajime. She’s worried he’ll consider himself her lapdog again but it’s cleared up when he doesn’t run to her side one morning out of the few left before they leave.

In fact, it’s when he doesn’t speak to her for hours on end she realizes that every interaction they had was under his free will and choice. 

He doesn’t do her chores for her. She doesn’t watch him fall apart silently. They talk like friends do. Not about how talentless people are worthless or how hope is all that matters but about how they can’t wait to rebuild their favorite hangout spots and make better memories there together.

They sort of have an unannounced “restart” where they just wipe the slate clean, mostly on (Y/n)’s part so she can treat Nagito how he deserves. As a true friend rather than a pawn.
