Who am I?

I wish I could meet myself from the outside, maybe it would be easier to find myself if I didn’t think I already knew who I was. 

Why is the answer to that given to me? Who am I? Why did they assume they knew who I would be? Who I would love? Why did they give me the wrong answer and leave me to find out that they were wrong? Leave me to look for a new answer? Leave me to unlearn all the things they told me about myself? 

I was a girl who was struggling with the label that was given to her, and now I’m a girl who feels she has fit the label that she gave herself. Who am I?

As kids we were always told that everyone is unique. So when do I learn that I don’t need a label? When do I learn I don’t need to fit in? When do I learn that I can just be whoever I want to be? Whatever I want to be? Because whoever I want to be, that is who I am.
