The Runway -Part 3

Lenny Miller x reader (Cillian Murphy’s role for movie Anna)

Looking at the clock, Y/N felt frustrated because Anna was still nowhere to be seen. A member of the crew talked to the pilot and shoot a long look at the other flight attendant.

“Where are you Anna?” She mumbled to herself, pinching the bridge of her nose.

“Are you going to Paris with those long faces?” Anna appeared with a huge grin on her face, oversized black sunglasses.

Everyone waiting for her sighed loudly as they realized she was hungover, the atmosphere was tense.

“Goodness Anna!” Y/N shook her head embarrassed by her sister’s attitude.

“Oh please just cut the bullshit.” Anna made a face and walked determined to move past them, but Lenny stood up with a death stare in front of her.

“You‘ve a contract, this is unacceptable and so disrespectful from you, we’ve been waiting for you for over an hour.” Lenny spat at her, clearly bothered.

Y/N wanted to intervene but she new Anna shouldn’t have made them wait.

“I really can’t wait to fire you as my agent.” She brushed past him, into the bedroom in the back of the private airplane.

Finally up in the air, Y/N tried to get comfortable in her seat, grabbing a book from her purse, unfortunately it slipped from her lap and landed on the floor, her personal belongings scattered around, Lenny was quick to help her, scrunching down.

“Thank you, I’m sorry about what happened with my sister earlier.”

“Sometimes I doubt you’re related to be honest.”

Y/N made a face. “That’s bold… but I doubt it myself sometimes.”

Lenny was eager to stop talking about Anna, she was a headache. “Are you excited for taking the Runway in Paris?”

“Yes! It’s the first time I’m hired by Miu Miu, luckily it will bring me good luck for the rest of the shows.”

“But you’re scheduled to walk for Luis Vuitton first, Miu Miu is on Wednesday.” Lenny was proud to realize he had both correct; the order and the fucking pronunciation. He spent a good part of the previous night getting involved in the fashion industry, to not look so out of place.

He learned names, trends, important details, designers faces, everything that was necessary. He was also a bit scandalized about the ridiculous amount of money Y/N and Anna got paid just for taking over a runway and he almost got a heart attack when he added the contracts of magazine covers, collaborations, being the faces of make up, shoes, clothing and appearances to the mix.

“Yes, sorry… I always get the dates mixed, but it’s all in my agenda.”

“Right, well I’ll be doing some paperwork right there if you need anything.” She saw Lenny walk back towards his place. “Make sure to eat something.”

She didn’t know what to expect from this trip, Richardson was never worried about her or her needs, on the contrary he used any opportunity to make her feel inferior, insecure, terrified of doing or saying something, he was different with Anna though always cheering for her and he constantly made them fight for contracts with big brands.

Y/N decided then to relax a little by opening her book, but her eyes constantly ended looking up towards Lenny as he was reading something in his computer, typing then leaning onto his hand, completely focused in his task. Unlike, unable to focus on her book, so Y/N decided to put her mask on and take a nap.

Lenny got access to Anna’s photos, nothing relevant, until he found one she sent to a few people personally requesting to not share the information with anyone else as they were invited to an exclusive meet and greet with her. In the message she mentioned the location would remain secret until the date. Lenny was checking for similar photos where she was invited to do a master class of how to walk like a model. Everything looked normal.

He felt like walking in a maze, like going in endless circles with nothing.

Lenny signed one of the contracts, Y/N would wave a flag at the Monaco F1 as the ambassador of a luxury watch brand in a few months, this deal was engaged by Richardson and he realized how unfair was Y/N’s cut compared to what her ex’s-manager got. These kind of inconsistencies had been also present in other of her contracts. He made a mental note to demand an audit later for that.

“You look like you need this.” Y/N offered him a glass of whiskey.

“That’s a nice way to say I look like shit.” Lenny chuckled inviting her to take the seat next to his.

“What’s the matter?”

“The numbers, there are inconsistencies, I’m starting to believe that your ex-manager has been stealing from you. But once we go back I’ll request an investigation.”

Y/N’s face was full of worry.

“I can’t believe it! How long has he been stealing from me?” Y/N asked, Lenny begged her to keep her voice down.

“That’s what I’m trying to find out, do you remember signing something unusual?”

No, everything was legal, Richardson got her the apartment she lived in, signed her assistant, suggested a portfolio as investment, he took care of everything, she barely got involved in those kind of decisions.

“It’s fine, I don’t want you to feel anymore pressure, you have enough with the runway.”

“To tell you the truth, I feel at a much better place now that you’re my manager, I never really liked him…”

Lenny was pleased to hear that.

“Anyways… I was wondering if Richardson told you about the contract I signed with the lingerie brand?”

Clearing his throat, Lenny tried to let his tie a bit loose. “Yes. What about it?”

Y/N smiled but shook her head.

“He wasn’t really excited with the project. Anyway I don’t want to bore you with it now.”

“It’s fine I don’t mind.” Lenny closed the laptop, to give her his undivided attention. “Tell me, what do you like the most about modeling?”

His question seemed to take her by surprise, but it was easy. “Meeting young girls who want to become a model as well.”

“Yeah?” He nodded. “Aren’t you scared of meeting them?”

Y/M shook her head. “No, they’re always nice… most of the people are, they just want a photo, as a matter of fact, I love it when Anna and I meet with fans and take them to a Runway with us for a backstage experience and have a little time you know, chatting.”

Lenny raised his eyebrows shocked to hear that piece of information about Anna but didn’t comment anything else.

“So, what’s your story?”

“Bored compared to yours.” Lenny chuckled, making Y/N giggle. “I’m not a model,” he admitted as if it wasn’t obvious.

“Oh but you could be easily mistaken by one.” Y/N interrupted.

Even if it was for an instant, Lenny blushed by her words. “I can assure you I could never be in front of the paparazzi like you do, I hate it.” He rolled his eyes at the memory of the restaurant.

“You should give it a try.”

“Sadly I don’t have time for a side job, you and your sister keep me busy.” He winked.

Y/N squinted her eyes and a playful look took over her.

“Would you believe me if I say, I’ve never been to the Eiffel Tower?” Y/N sighed loudly on their way to the elevator. “Like see it properly.”

Lenny held the door open for her.

“Are you serious?”

“Yeah, and it might be something silly you may think oh but she’s doing the walk at the actual tower, but it’s not the same you know? I won’t see or enjoy a picnic and have a good time, this is my job.”

“No, I totally get what you mean.” Lenny agreed. “Perhaps you could take a day off once you finish the fashion shows.”

“Oh, you’re saying I get to have a little holiday?” Y/N smiled walking out of the elevator.

Lenny walked to the front door of the suite. “Why not?”

“I thought you’d be demanding to have proof of my weight daily, you know that kind of stuff.” She shuddered.

“Oh no, I’m going to my little room in the attic. Way better.”

Y/N was surprised to learn he didn’t request a suite.

Lenny looked behind her shoulder, the room was ridiculously huge.

“Have some rest, you’ll need it for tomorrow.” As he walked towards the elevator at the end of the corridor, Y/N wondered why Lenny was so different to her ex-agent. He was kind and attentive, praised her work, reassuring, his presence made her feel secure and those blue gems made her knees weak.

Y/N was on the cover of every single fashion magazine, the photographers went crazy when she stepped out of the hotel between one runway and another, but she always gave them what they loved, she posed for them and blew kisses to everyone, even took the time to take photos with the fans that asked her. The camera loved her, she was a natural and it didn’t matter that she was wearing a simple pants and top. She looked stunning.

She took over the most important fashion shows; Balmain, YSL, Dior, Luis Vuitton… and now she would be closing the Paris Fashion Week with Chanel. At the very top of everything and everyone. He was proud to learn about her work ethic, Y/N was always on time, didn’t need to make someone feel bad, was kind to everyone around her, treated her stylist, makeup artist and bodyguard with respect, she always had a smile on when a fan approached her for a photo or autograph and still made time have a good laugh backstage.

But by the end of the night, Y/N knocked on Lenny’s hotel room door make up free, glamour long forgotten with her hair in a small bun or a loose braid and sweats and they spent a good amount of time talking, he learned her ex manager forced her to get eye surgery so she didn’t need glasses anymore, he wanted her to get a nose job as well, but she refused that and the other surgeries advised firmly.

And little by little, Lenny started to warm into her. Between backstage chats, walking back to her suite or in the car ride to the venue, whenever she had the chance to talk to someone, she would choose him, he also noticed the way she was flirting back because she started doing a particular head tilt only reserved for him.

There was no use to deny the attraction that started sparking in those days, it’s was a natural thing after spending a lot of time together.

Lenny stared at the screen backstage as Y/N started walking, the cameraman zoomed out and captured the base of the Eiffel Tower, moments later he catched the entire Tower. Those lips pursed in a tight line, eyes focused in some point in the distance, long and firm strides as she walked elegantly. He wasn’t even able to look away, she was stealing the show.

The city lights illuminating every step, this was the longest runway Y/N had ever walk, it was ambitious and the perfect way to close the Paris Fashion week.

It happened too fast. Her heart was pounding as she returned backstage, her ears ringing from the noise and emotions, her hands shaking but not out of nerves, but the feelings of being walking that runway.

“Goodness I thought it was endless.” She was rushed to get changed into her next outfit.

“Four minutes, Y/N.” Someone announced as she started to undress to change into her new outfit.

The dresser adjusted the fabric while someone sprayed her hair and used a small brush to get the perfect look. And she was ready to go and take the runway one more time.

It was impossible to describe the sensation she got once she started walking. But she loved every second of it.

After changing one more time and finally closing the Paris Fashion Week, she rushed to her corner in backstage to change into her clothes, hang the design she was given, place the shoes she wore in the box and she started to remove the make up from her face, Lenny appeared behind her, knocking on the wall.

“Come in.” Y/N joked.

“Are you ready to go?”

“I thought you’d be back into the hotel by now.”

Lenny offered his hand to take her bag. “No, I stayed here watching the show backstage.”

“Oh, did you like it?”

Lenny shook his head and her heart stopped beating. “Loved it. Come on, I want you to see something.”

He showed her the way to a car with a driver but refused to say anything about their destination and she was too distracted by his voice to notice they crossed a bridge and the car was stopping next to a dock until he pointed out a yacht.

“What’s this?” Y/N asked out of breath.

Lenny chuckled, surprised by the sound he was making. “This is your chance to see the Eiffel Tower, we got it for an hour or so, so let’s go?”

Placing her hand over her heart, Y/N touched Lenny’s arm to mumble a low thank you. She was touched beyond words.

As the yacht started to move, she was able to see a first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower illuminated, lights dancing before her eyes.

“Goodness! This is beautiful Lenny!” Clamping her hands over her mouth to suppress a squeal, she didn’t want to blink so she wouldn’t miss a single second of it.

Lenny was pleased to see Y/N enjoying so much the moment.

“Thank you for this.” She repeated, her heart full of happiness, but when she looked into Lenny’s eyes, she found something else, something new.

“No, thank you for making me see things differently,” he let his fingers wander up and down her arm, “you made me realize a lot of things in a very short time.”

A chill ran down her spine by the intensity of his eyes. “Like what?”

“Like I’m starting to fall for you.” Lenny whispered and tilted his head towards her, finding her lips.

But the best part was when Y/N returned the kiss and placed her hand in the back of his head. It was demanding and she gave in when he intertwined his fingers through her locks.

“So am I, Lenny.” She admitted when they broke the kiss. Looking over at the monument and its lights.

Her line of work was somehow chaotic at times, with a crazy schedule, she never imagined to fall in love with someone in the media, but yet it felt so natural, they shared a couple of interests, got to understand each other over work, she noticed he was so serious at the beginning but slowly, he started to warm into her.

Leaning on Lenny’s shoulder, she fixed her eyes on the sight before her eyes, he was so thoughtful for giving her a moment like this.

Y/N sighed. “But this is going to be a huge thing, because I once had suspicions about my sister and my ex agent and I always told her it wasn’t professional,” she chuckled caressing Lenny’s face.

“What?” He asked with a frown, he wasn’t expecting that.

“I’m not sure if they had a one night thing or something…”

Lenny looked up at the sky, during her rehearsal, he got classified information about Anna. He rubbed his chin frustrated.

“There’s something I need to tell you first, but I need you to listen carefully.”

Y/N’s expression changed. “What’s wrong?”

“I really don’t work for the fashion industry, I’m an undercover agent investigating the girls that had been missing from different parts of the country, some even foreigners, I received information about your sister, apparently she’s involved by recruiting young girls for a meet and greet or a model session, after that some of the girls went missing.”

It was a lot to digest, she was confused after all the information he just dropped.

She was shocked. “You’re a spy?”

“An agent.” He corrected. “Not a models agent.”

Y/N took a deep breath, the beautiful surprise took a different turn.

“Are you sure Anna is involved?”

Lenny nodded. “We’ve been tracking her down for a while and recently got access to a couple of messages codified that started the alarms again.”

“Why? She doesn’t need to.”

“Could be a lot of things.” Lenny admitted watching the sadness in her eyes, the veil falling to the ground and the pedestal in which she put Anna breaking. “I’m sorry, but I needed you to know this, since she has involved you somehow.”

“I’ve been to those meet and greet with the girls, the after parties, but everything seemed to be normal.” She crossed her arms. “I can’t imagine those girls wanting to have a dream come true and then not coming back home.”

As it started to get chilly, Lenny took off the jacket of his suit and wrapped it around Y/N’s shoulders, then he pulled her into his embrace and she leant into him giving one more look to the Eiffel Tower as the yacht started to go back.

As much as she loved her sister to death, she wasn’t going to allow her to hurt innocent people.

“What can I do to help you?”

Lenny ran his thumb across her face, giving her a small peck on the lips. “For now, I just want you to be safe.”

A/N: I found the runway photo on Pinterest but I don’t know what fashion show it’s from ☺️ this was particularly hard to write because although I had the entire idea figured out, I couldn’t get around the document 🤷🏻‍♀️ what do you think it will happen now?

Do you plan on making the talk ur talk universe a trilogy? If you do, then YAYYY MORE FAMOUS NICO, and if you don't, then YAYY I HAVE A NEW FAVORITE AUTHOR

this is HILARIOUS bc i was actually DEEPLY CONSIDERING IT. like. just a few weeks ago. see the thing was i made this playlist, and i was super into it, and i was like, well shit, i already have the rest of this outlined- would i be willing to go on further???

i'll give the gist of it here: basically a majority of the first fic was around the start of his career. this fic is centered around this one album that will come out in a long long time toward the end of the fic + the seven memoir.

the third fic WOULD (heavy emphasis on would bc i'm still not so sure abt it) be centered around the egot.

in case you don't know what that is, it's basically like this prestigious thing where you've won an emmy (tv shows), grammy (music), oscar (movie), tony (musical theatre)

i once responded to this comment on talk ur talk asking whether i was intending on nico ever achieving egot status and i said no, because i don't really see him straying too far from what he's doing rn - he writes music because he loves it, and for the art, not for the prestige, but that i could definitely see apollo getting an egot sometime in the future bc i had mentioned him already having an emmy, grammy, and oscar, so he would just have a tony left and lets be real he would slay on broadway

but then i got into this mini hyperfixation on - if nico were to ever receive egot status - how would he do that?? grammy's are a given, and i went down this rabbit hole for how he could win the others, sticking to the fact that he adamantly refuses to act

oscar would be easy, best original song - something like "no time to die" by billie eilish (which won the award) or "yellow flicker beat" by lorde are movie songs that i 100% think he could write

for the emmy's there's an award for like best documentary pop culture or something like that (i can't find the doc where i put all this in but trust that i did the research at some point) which he could def do, or something that like he collaborated with apollo for - a documentary of some sort

and here's where the mini hyperfixation came in - the tony. now here's the thing i don't actually know a lot abt musical theatre. i was in like two musicals in middle school and that's it. so i did a deep dive on all the musicals that have won tony's, listened to a few soundtracks, found out that the lightning thief got TOTALLY SNUBBED???

and then fell down the hadestown rabbithole

so i'll just leave this info right here - i gave so much detail bc i'm still not rlly sure if i ever want to go into this?? simply bc i *do* know quite a bit abt pop music/production from watching videos and documentaries and stuff, but i'm really not a musical theatre person. so.

we'll see if this ever actually becomes a thing, because i know that greatest of luxuries covers a huge timespan and i'll likely be working on this for *quite* a long time, and we'll see how much motivation i would have to continue it after this! if nothing else, i think i would def go back into the universe from time to time to write little oneshots just bc of how this au has become such a huge part of my lifesjdf

aside from that, THANK YOU SO SO MUCHSDKF <333 i definitely intend to continue writing more solangelo even after talk ur talk is over, i have *so* many other au ideas and wip's that maybe i'd finally get a chance to start once talk ur talk isn't consuming so much of my time!! (not in a bad way, i truly do love writing it) <3 thank you for the ask!!

oh also, bonus note: even if i do end up ending talk ur talk after greatest of luxuries, it most definitely won’t be the end of famous nico!! i love me some fame au’s and wouldn’t be able to be stopped from writing them even if i tried😭 id likely just try out a different form of a fame au at some point, like my actor!nico and country singer!will fic based on so american which i swear is still in progress im working on it it’ll get there !!!

And he’ll do the most cringe dances you’ve ever seen while you play

Especially when you’re walking home together

You guys have multiple collaborative playlists, all with goofy names like “playlist for when I’m with your mom” or “getting mauled by a bear <3”

But you also have some moody playlists

When one of you is in a bad mood, you’ll invite the other over and just put on your moody playlist

You’ll mope around for a while until you’re ready to talk

(If you want to talk at all)

When you’re not being moody, you’ll play one of your goofier playlists

Honestly you guys just kind of vibe in each other’s presence

Stan likes it when you draw while hanging out though, and he always asks to see when you’re done

He’ll back off if you decline, but he’ll hype you up so much if you do show him

Much like with the piano, he’ll request you to draw stupid things

He’ll hang the drawings on his wall if you let him keep them

He also relies on you academically

Study sessions aren’t uncommon between you two

He’s more inclined to come to you for help than Kyle; you’re way nicer than him

Plus you’ll let him listen to music while you study

If you couldn’t tell already, music is a huge part of your guys’ friendship

A drabble!

You harrumphed, slumping against the wall.

Stan looked up from his phone. He was lying on your bedroom floor, scrolling away, while you were drawing on your bed. Well, trying to draw.

“Art block?” Stan guessed.

You sighed loudly in response.

“Want me to give you some ideas?”

The corner of your mouth quirked up in a lopsided smirk. Oh boy, time for something stupid. You nodded.

“Okay, hm… Sonic. But he’s sharing lasagna with Garfield.”

You nodded again, getting straight to work. You drummed your finger on the edge of the sketchbook while you drew, appreciating the music.

A couple songs later, the sketch was done. You tilted your head thoughtfully as you stared at it. “I’m going to add more stuff.”

Feeling inspired, you filled the negative space on the page with as many pop culture references as you could think of. Character after character appeared in the sketch until every corner of the paper was drawn on. It took a long time, but you were quite proud of the result.

“Done.”

“Can I see?” Stan sat up, excitement obvious in his expression.

With a comedic smirk you flipped the sketchbook around, letting him behold your masterpiece.

“Is that Brian from Family Guy?” Stan burst into laughter, taking the book into his own hands to get a closer look.

He was howling within seconds, tears filling his eyes as he noticed each little detail. “Oh man,” he gasped, out of breath from his fit. “This is amazing.”

You were giggling a bit yourself, watching him lose it like that. “Thanks.”

“Please let me keep this.”

You waved your hand dismissively. “You’re the one who inspired my masterpiece.”

With a huge grin Stan carefully tore the page out, handing you your book while he continued to stare at the drawing.

I just finished answering all the asks I had piled up on my main blog, so imma do the same thing here! The time has come... So basically this post will just be me answering every remaining ask I still had lying around in my inbox on this blog! Enjoy!!!

Adventure Time Related Asks

(in reference to the Fionna and Cake finale)

You see I get what you mean, but for me it's less to do with time and more to do with what they spent the time they had doing. I really don't understand why AT feels the need to shove Shermy and Beth into everything. Also I really don't understand why they thought the best way to make a grown ass 50-something year old man who survived the apocalypse and 1000 years of trauma learn that his relationship wasn't perfect was through a video game. And I really don't understand why the crew thought the best way to showcase this was to literally spell it out to the audience like we are toddlers (especially since F&C is supposed to be for an older audience apparently). I agree with the conclusion, but I really hate how it was executed.

@samhadjblog2 I completely agree with this! I like what the show was going for, again I completely agree with the conclusion it came to, just the way it got to said conclusion was incredebly underwhelming and frustrating for me T_T (also big agree on Simon's main flaw being his insecurities and how passive he was in his relationship with Betty, to a point where he didn't do enough to prevent her from hurting herself)

@wintercandle42 Honestly I'd die for a fic that goes into scenarios I've explored in my own Ice King analysis posts and while I rly appreciate the offer I generally only work with friends or creators I'm already fimilar with! Even so, I rarely collaborate in general T_T. I'm sorry, but ty for offering!

I feel really bad for not answering these asks earlier, because I made ppl who had so much interesting stuff to say/tell me like anon here wait for so long. I'm sorry T_T! Yes!! I love indie animation (indie anything rly)

Obviously I'm fimilar with the big two (The Amazing Digital Circus Helluva Boss) however my favorite indie animated series are actually The Vampair Series, Threnody and ENA !!! Ofc, I also love watching indie short films or other such shorter animations on YouTube (I actually have a playlist of some of my favorite animations/animatics on YouTube if you wanna check that out)

Honestly, one-man-team type animated series are super cool to me. Sch Ribbit is another artist/animator who made their own series just out of their sheer passion, and he was always a huge inspiration to me growing up! (an example of stuff they'd make is their Jaden Unshaked series. even though it's scrapped and a bit old, I still find it super cool!!)

But yeah I love indie animation!

Thank you for asking anon! I've def been doing better lately! Gonna be real, late fall/early winter wasnt the kindest to me (I was sick for a long while and then the seasonal depression hit where I wasn't going outside at all, and till relatively recently I was barely socializing and was just girlrotting in bed all day. A mix of social battery dying out but also generally feeling rly drained), but I do feel a lot better now! I'm getting back on track. @cloudbustingss (I assume this ask is refering to this fiasco) Yea you are correct! I know I shouldn't respond to angry randos blowing up at me over nothing, I generally avoid it. I just felt like I needed to in that instance, mostly to make other ppl aware in the fandom that "hey if all it took for this person to blow up and start being transphobic and just generally cruel was a drawing of a GNC cishet couple, they'll likely be even worse if they encounter actual trans art or art made by trans ppl, probably block them if you wanna avoid them doing this to you". But yeah usually I avoid responding to ppl like this, I've been online for long enough to know it's not worth it (I've learned through trail and error XD I used to respond to everything when I was younger. Tbh I'm still learning to control my "I wanna respond to this mean person" impulses but I'm getting better I think!) In any case, I appriciate the advice ty!! ;w;

I really like the first ten songs on the list, but I am going to shuffle it... Some songs really surprised me, because I rarely listen to them... But here we go... What a nice activity for a sunday afternoon ☕ (And I hadn't any idea that this feature of a repeat list existed until now... I love it! Such a good mix for my ears!)

1. Be with you by Ateez

I love Ateez and especially their calmer songs. This is such a blessing for my ears. These boys are talented and not just Jongho with this incredible voice. I love San's voice. It has a vibe I really like! But I am a little bit surprised that this song made it to the list, I haven't listen to it in quite a while... ot mad though.

2. Hard by SHINee

I must admit, I haven't had SHINee on my radar until Hard. I don't know why... I new some songs, but it wasn't something special to me. And then came Hard 😅 I saw some live videos of them and fell hard...

3. Komet by Udo Lindenberg and Apache207

This is a collaboration I didn't see coming and never knew I needed! Apache207 is usually not my kind of music (Udo also not my regular music taste), but this song... damn I love it! I don't know why, but the beat is just so good and the lyrics are perfect! I could listen (and have) to this on repeat for hours. Just a feel good music especially when driving (doesn't matter what transportation). It is just a song while listening to it you want to look through a window and just think about your life or you want to turn up the volume and sing along!

4. Chemical by Post Malone

This song is on a playlist I listen to a lot lately... I didn't notice I listen to it that often. It is quite nice, but nothing I would search for activley to listen to. But a good song. I don't skip it, when it is on.

5. Cardigan by Tayler Swift

Another song I wouldn't think it would come up here 😅 I never was a Swifty, but lately I catch myself listening to her songs and sing along and liking her stuff. And whenever this song comes up, I do play it a second time. It has such a flow that my brain wants to listen to it longer. And it is such a song for autumn... I mean... it just has a autumn vibe... I see rain and darkness and a blanket on a couch when I listen to this song.

6. Older by Sasha Alex Sloan

You know these songs you listen to, but you have no clue how you ended up with it on your playlist? This is one of those songs for me. Guess I was very emotional when I put it on one of my playlists... This song just hits differently... the lyrics are chef's kiss and feel like they've been carved out of my own brain... Damn, my music is kind of an emotional dumbster fire rigt now... just as my emotions are 💃

7. In The Stars by Benson Boone

Yeah... speaking o about emotions... I have some days of thinking about life and stuff behind me... I love this song, especially when he sings together with the choir. Sometimes I just need music, that I can relate to. I love K-Pop, but it is nice to just understand what you are listen to without the need of a translation and just to feel the lyrics.

8. Still Fighting by LUCY

I love LUCY. Their songs are always a blast for my ears and my brain. It is one of the bands I wish I could see live. They have such a great stage perfomance and energy. And there is so much power in the voice! I can get lost in it and the melody and everything...

9. Halley's Comet by Oneus

I am a huge Oneus fan. They have a specialty for building up their chorus and bridge. Their songs just give me eargasms and I am addicted to them! I have to close my eyes and feel their music with my whole body. This might be a little it strange when I am outside but at some age you just don't care anymore what people think about you 😅

10. Bite Me by Enhypen

This song had me with the very first second. The beginning of it is just so good! There are parts of the song I don't like that much, but overall this is a really good song. And yes, I sing along even though I have no clue what I am singing and yes, it sounds awful! My collegues at work would confirm this...

Well, these are my 10 shuffle-songs from my On Repeat playlist. I just listen to it now and give myself to the strange mix of "What was I made for" and "Ring Ding Dong"...

Here is a guide to the Sing Street cast’s original music and other projects in case you’re a fan of Sing Street or if you’re interested in learning more about both Sing Street (musical) and the cast! Since they met in 2019, this cast has been making things together almost nonstop. It’s a very long post so just scroll through and click the links to the songs if you are interested!

Max Bartos (OBC Darren): Max’s biggest musical inspiration is Green Day plus he’s a huge fan of Spring Awakening. His music really reflects his musical favorites and his talent in his album called “Such Is Life” and his single “Playlist of My Life.” You can listen to those anywhere you stream music. Max is also in the process of writing a musical, another album, and he has a podcast called “Clowns ‘R’ Us” where he talks about all things horror! Max also has his own theatrical group who will be putting on a Spring Awakening Concert at the Laurie Beechmen Theatre in NYC on June 17th. Former Sing Street cast mate Skyler Volpe (OBC Anne Lawlor) will be in this concert playing bass in the band. (Tickets are on sale for my many Spring Awakening fans if you’re interested and live in NY!)

Ilan Eskenazi (OBC U/S Conor): has a sensuous song out called “Next to Me” which features the voices and musical talents of himself, along with former Sing Street cast mates Skyler Volpe (OBC Anne Lawlor) and Brendan C. Callahan (OBC Gary). “Next to Me” is available on all streaming platforms.

Skyler Volpe: As mentioned above, Skyler is one of the featured voices in Ilan Eskenazi’s song “Next to Me”. Skyler also plays the bass in an NYC band called “Themme” and also occasionally plays other gigs around New York- a few being with former Sing Street cast mates Gian Perez, Anthony Genovesi, and Sam Poon; and she also sometimes plays at 54 Below. Skyler is also in the Original cast recording of a show called “The Hello Girls” which is really good. That cast recording is streaming on all platforms. Skyler also wrote a play called “One Drop Cool” and is currently working on staging it!

Sam Poon (OBC Eamon): releases music under the name “Spoonuel”. Some popular songs of theirs that I personally like are “B With Me”, and “A Manic Hello”. They also produce music for their girlfriend and fellow DIY music artist Chloe Berry. Both Sam and Chloe constantly have music coming out, and their music can be streamed on all platforms. Sam also produces music for former Sing Street cast mate Brenock O’Connor, and sometimes plays gigs with other Sing Street alumni such as Gian Perez (OBC & Boston Kevin), Anthony Genovesi (OBC & Boston Declan), and Skyler Volpe. Sam and Brenock’s most recent song together is called “Macho”.

Anthony Genovesi: is a drummer who plays gigs in NYC with many with his former Sing Street cast mates’ bands such as Gian Perez, Jakeim Hart (OBC Larry), and Sam Poon. Anthony also has his own song out titled “Swim ‘Til You Die”.

Sophie Hearn (OBC Raphina U/S): has a beautiful song out titled “Wasn’t I” streaming on all platforms.

Gian Perez: Is in a band called “Office Hours” and also in a band called “SU$HI” with Anthony Genovesi. He also releases music as a solo artist under the name “No Love For Cowboy”. He is also still acting in theatre and TV.

Brenock O’Connor (OBC Conor Lawlor): is in England currently playing gigs and releasing his own music under the name “McGovern”. Brenock often collaborates with his former Sing Street cast mates, especially Sam Poon. Brenock also has one song out with former Sing Street cast mate Michael Lepore (OBC Conor, Eamon U/S & Boston Gary). Their song is called “When Your Lips Disappear”. Brenock just recently released an EP titled “Maybe Everything Could Be OK” and the bitter-sweet music video for one of the songs “Let Me Know When It’s Yesterday” features nostalgic footage of fellow former Sing Street cast mates Brendan C. Callahan, Ilan Eskenazi, Anthony Genovesi, Jakeim Hart, Gian Perez, Sam Poon, and Skyler Volpe.

Michael Lepore: has a few songs released, one with former cast mate Brenock O’Connor as mentioned above, and one of his own titled “Tongue Twisted”. Both songs are streaming everywhere.

Zara Devlin (OBC Raphina), Johnny Newcomb (OBC Barry), and Gus Halper (OBC Brendan Lawlor) do not have any music out- but Zara is still doing theatre and film in Ireland, and Gus is still doing TV and film as well.

ALSO: Brendan C. Callahan, Ilan Eskenazi, Jakeim Hart, Gian Perez, Brenock O’Connor, Sam Poon, and Skyler Volpe were in a band together (before Covid) called “The Kings of Positivity” and there are fun videos on YouTube of their performances and one-take covers.

FebruarOC - Penelope

Penelope "Nelo" Straylight is a character I created back when some friends invited me to a short-lived idea of doing a campaign of Scum & Villainy. We barely got of the ground with character plotting before it fell through, so I just had a hot muscle woman kicking around in my head with nothing to do. Her class was literally "the muscle", which for anyone who knows anything about S&V the system or just Forged games in general meant that she could have the ability that made her count as a small gang. So like, ma'am 😳

Around that time, I had also brought Kerri into the FTL space games (I originally created her for a game of Follow that was about superheroes, actually, but now she sort of lives in the sci-fi space despite also using her for City of Gulls) and I went "hehe what if I just put them together in a story".

So, you know, I did? (Kerri still kicks around with the gorls from FTL, who are Sol, Merril, and Max, but it's easier for me to use her in my own projects because it's quite literally at my own pace and I don't have to bother anyone because I'm real bad at collaborations)

The long and short of it was a vaguely political space-opera, or as I liked to call it, "space lesbians". Unlike in the FTL space games, I brought back Kerri's ability to do magic mostly because of Penelope's backstory!

For Nelo, her in-game vice was gambling. She's from a planet that is recovering from a war, and has a big para-military presence on it still, so the only interesting thing for her really is gambling. To the point where she goes massively in debt and gambles away the last thing she has on a losing hand: her own identity.

So she steals a new one: Penelope Straylight, a hunter for what the game called "mystics" but we can call Jedi. They were Jedi. And she thinks "well, it's fine, all the mystics are gone and this one was dying in a ditch on a back-water planet so no one is going to come looking for me trying to demand my participation or w/e".

Her old name had been Enise, but as these bounty-hunters stole it, it sure isn't her name anymore!

Eventually she uses what little money the identity "Penelope Straylight" had on hand to get passage off her home planet, and from there just hops around stations and planets doing odd-jobs (and gambling) until she picks up a request from Kerrigan Kestrel to be a bodyguard. Kerrigan is extremely cagey about the details, and is way too pretty to be from this ass-end of space, but she pays well enough for a cushy job of riding on a luxury cruise liner that it doesn't really mean anything at first.

Until she realizes that Kerrigan is the daughter of the leader of the big political faction.

Until she realizes that Kerrigan herself is a mystic (I call them "whisperers" in this setting).

So she's caught up in Kerri's political struggle to wrest control away from her father and stop a civil war and also the bounty hunters who have her old identity now demanding that she turn over Kerri and they can all get a big payday.

Somewhat recently I decided to combine the space lesbians with my project HOWL, because I loved the cast of HOWL but they had no plot, and I loved the space lesbians but it felt like such a huge galaxy with only the two of them. I'm still working out what this means, especially since I'm making Jack a whisperer and so I have to figure out what that means with regards to Kerri and Nelo's role in all of that.

She also has a prosthetic leg (knee down) and arm (mid-bicep down); she lost them in an accident when she was 12 (land mine), and only just recently was able to afford nicer cybernetic prosthetics -- tho they're still on the low-end of tech available. Kerri finds out when Nelo somehow manages to hurt herself while playing soccer with a bunch of kids.

Slings and Arrows - another Very Canadian show about the theatre. Absolutely hilarious. Essential as someone who grew up in a theatre town.

Leverage (and Redemption) - I just love them so much!

Jing: King of Bandits - one of the only animes that I would still watch these days. I fucking adore it so much. My fav anime (and manga) series of all time for sure.

Miami Vice - Yes, the 80s one. Don't @ me okay I love it even if it's terrible, I went through a huge Miami Vice stage in my teens/early 20s. (My dad and I used to watch it together, and then I stole all his seasons to take with me to University lol)

Parks and Rec - I haven't watched it in a while but it's still SUCH a funny show.

10) Something you’ve created in the last year that you’re proud of (a playlist, a piece of art, some writing, a craft hobby, a social media account, etc)

Oh this is a really lovely question! A few things spring to mind.

I have an art piece that I made this year that was actually acquisitioned by one of my very small local museums. It's a piece that I'm super proud of, and it feels really neat that it's in a museum now! On a related note, I also started an art account earlier this year, which was a really big step for me art-wise. It's been fun, even if I'm really bad at updating.

Honestly I'm also super proud of a bunch of my fanfics that I've written this year! It feels like a bit more of a haphazard writing year, and I've been having trouble writing consistent fics lately, but I'm still proud of it :)

Weekly EDM Favorites 2023 - Week One

So about a year ago I started a playlist where every Friday I add seven new tracks every week, tracks that released sometime in the past week. The tracks stay for two weeks, after which I choose my favorite from that week. The other six tracks cycle, so there are fifteen tracks at all times. I thought I’d start including them on this blog, since I don’t really have anything else to do on this blog. This is place for me to talk about music I like, even if no one is listening.

Breathless - Geoplex ft. Lyra Ivy: Geoplex almost went a full calendar year without a new release, but he subverted it at the very last moment.This released in 2022, but it’s still in the correct time frame to be included here. Geoplex is back with some Drum’n’Bass, which he doesn’t make often. Geoplex still includes the orchestral elements he’s well known for. I especially like the break after the second verse. Lyra Ivy’s vocals work perfectly on this track. She kind of sounds like Laura Brehm, which is never a bad thing. Great way to close out the year.

Can’t Say No - JJD: JJD’s few last releases have been a bit underwhelming, but here he’s back in full force. He’s done Hardcore before, but this is the first time he’s done it on NCS. All the energy associated with the genre is present here. The melody is kind of haunting, especially when accompanied by the vocal sample selected.

In Too Deep - Inpetto, DigEx: Finally, an Inpetto track that doesn't rely on the same quiet-LOUD pattern. I get that Inpetto was trying to carve out a signature sound, but it was getting really stale; all his tracks were starting to blur together. He’s ditched that here, yet it’s still recognizably an Inpetto track, showing that he doesn’t have to do the exact same thing every time. DigEx delivers again, and his style blends well with Inpetto’s. This collaboration was a good idea. I get the sense that FHM is in for a good year.

Into Pieces - John Dahlbäck: Some tracks just have a sound that envelopes me when I listen to them, and that’s how I would describe this track. All the little elements combine and go together really well.

Mike & Nina - Raito: Mau5trap’s We Are Friends compilation dropped this week, and among the new tracks there were a lot that I liked, but the best for me was this one. It’s Techno, which is a genre I’m generally not a huge fan of, but here the quirky sound design and fast-paced tempo make it really enjoyable to listen to.

Sleepwalking - Andrew Rayel ft. Mike Schmid: I can really appreciate a well-executed slow-burn. If done right, one drop can be so much better than two. Rayel utilizes synths and Schmid’s vocals to build up an atmosphere, and when the drop finally hits, it feels earned, like a logical conclusion to the narrative painted.

You Only - Michael Feel & Aleco: I don’t really have much to say about this one. I just enjoy it. There isn’t much to this track, but it’s enjoyable nonetheless. The cowbell (I think it’s a cowbell) lead in the drop just works really well.

All right, I love these! Let's do this!

C - A pairing you have never liked and probably never will

I think the only one that falls into this category is Feylin. Even in ACOTAR, I thought they were really boring together and didn't see the chemistry.

Otherwise, I feel like I have at least been intrigued by every other SJM ship. There are ships I'm not interested in writing and ships I don't think will happen in canon, but there's really no other ship I outright dislike.

M - Your favorite fanart or fanartist

I cannot answer this any other way than to shout out the incredible @carol-pisarro -- I adore the art that she creates, she's a dream to commission, and it was a huge honor to collaborate with her. (Also, she's an amazing human and I'm honored to be her friend! But even if I didn't actually know her, I would still be a stan.)

Carol's Gwynriel art is my favorite in the fandom full stop, her Ruhn art makes me see what all the Ruhn hype is about, and she captures these moments of joy and tenderness between couples so beautifully. I also love the ways she takes care to give the SJM characters a full spectrum of representation. She's truly the best.

O - Choose a song at random, which OTP does it remind you of

All right, so here was my methodology: I scrolled through my "On Repeat" playlist on Spotify and chose a song at random. It was Shakira's "Ciega, Sordomuda" (sidenote: my husband and I both completely love Shakira; when we can't figure out what to listen to, I always pick her music, and this is his favorite Shakira song -- my current favorite is She Wolf).

Further note on Shakira and the SJM fandom: there was a meme going around at one point that Cassian 100% trains to Shakira and I have never agreed with a meme more. This song doesn't give me Nessian vibes, but I could definitely see Cassian training while blasting it, meanwhile Nesta would be very bemused by the whole thing.

"Knock You Down" earned Hilson a Grammy nomination for Best/Rap Sung Collaboration. In 2010, she released her sophomore album No Boys Allowed. The album includes the female-empowering anthem "Pretty Girl Rock." Fellow female singer-songwriter Jade Novah performed the song as a tribute to Hilson at the Black Honor Music Awards. For what it's worth, Keri Hilson deserves more recognition than she has. Hopefully, we will see her make more festival and concert appearances and maybe new music soon. AI in the Music Industry: How Will It Shape the Music Metaverse and Sounds of the Future?

AI has already revolutionized the music industry. AI-generation tools allow creators to generate royalty-free music, and generative AI streaming products offer never-ending mood-based playlists for users to enjoy. AI-generated songs using “soundalikes” and well-known songs of popular artists being sung in the AI voice of another have been a hot topic in the news for two reasons. They sound highly accurate and have encouraged users to make their own, new versions, but there are moral and ethical concerns around them and it has inspired interesting discussions. Companies are having to assess how best to protect artists, copyrights and revenue streams from the threat of having their voices, and music stolen by generative AI tools.

Recently Sony Music’s digital chief called for a US-wide publicity right through which artists can protect their voices so they can stop the unauthorized use of their vocals through AI. Currently, there are tens of thousands of takedown notices seeking the removal of unauthorized voice clones, but the digital platforms are using legal loopholes to delay dealing with them. This story is just one part of a much larger conversation that needs to happen around imitation, copyright and fair use when it comes to AI.

The uptake of AI in mainstream music creation won’t be instant but at some point creators will start putting more faith into smart tools that allow them to generate music through these new means for use in videos. Some creators are already seeing the benefits – chords and melodies can be created by simply inputting into an AI, and these tools will only get more sophisticated. However, once created, that music will still need to be licensed, and there will be commercial models that give users access to the tools and/or licensing opportunities for the music created by said tool.

In the metaverse, we can look forward to seeing music collaboration spaces and music production event areas or venues. Generative AI is useful for creating ‘music stems’ which splits music into their component parts, and building a sort of catalog of ‘music elements’ that can then be used by others, collaboratively, to start making new and original music. This is a relatively new phenomenon and gives creators the opportunity to create and remix tracks to their heart’s content.

An AI can churn out new beats, melodies, riffs, and instrumental sounds easily and continuously, and people will get together to create music on the fly, and that will require AI generative tools at some scale. We’ll see the introduction of musical skins, where Avatars have their own personalized soundtrack or music identifier. How do I know someone entered the room? Well, I just heard their music handle to signify they’re here. Like boxers have ring walks, there’ll be a version of that somewhere in the metaverse.

Music metaverses and venues, and metaverse platforms based around music creation already exist and there are many more on the way. Pixelynx, Deadmau5’s music-based metaverse gaming platform, is a prime example of how to get things right. Within a year of launching their first game experience, the company was acquired by Animoca Brands, a company with a broad portfolio of web3, blockchain and traditional games and a huge web3 holding company. Other examples include Roblox which has hosted highly successful in-game concerts with the likes of David Guetta and Lil Nas X, and just last year Avakin Life hosted an in-game concert with virtual popstar POLAR. All of these concerts were hugely successful and brought in hundreds of thousands of music fans.

Only those living under a rock for the past 3 years could have missed the enormous success Epic Games have had with their in-game music experiences in Fortnite with artists like Eminem, Ariana Grande, Marshmello and more. Epic has committed to evolving music experiences in Fortnite with impressive ambition, most notably acquiring Harmonix Studios in 2021 (the company behind the world’s first billion-dollar game franchises in Guitar Hero and Rock Band) and the subsequent launch of the immersive music experience ‘Sparks’ within Fortnite.

All of these experiences, and all of these companies, represent enormous opportunities for the music industry. It’s important to note, however, that most scalable digital opportunities for the music industry going forward will require a micro-licensing commercial model and innovative tech, either to enable licensing or to protect end users. That’s where music democratization tools for the world’s creators are perfectly positioned. We all know that the metaverse is inevitable. We’ve all been in it in some description as early as 15 years ago when we experimented with virtual meetings, and experiences like ‘The Sims’ and ‘Second Life’ became popular. But as time goes on, it will just start to play a bigger and bigger role in the day-to-day lives of future generations.

With metaverse graphics and experiences improving as more focus is put on it, so do the expectations on how it sounds. When you visit music-themed virtual venues you may hear unrecognizable stock music that’s not adding to the experience and it’s no longer immersive. It all comes back to the complexities of music licensing, but it also tells me there’s an opportunity here and that opportunity is almost always taken by stock music companies on day one. Generative AI will add real value here but mainstream, popular music will always play a major part in helping create atmosphere, nostalgia and engagement.

I see the role of music licensing businesses here as the voice to help bridge that gap, exploring more ways we can coalesce in this ever-changing digital world. With the fragmented music industry and all the complexities around rights, we’re responsible for packaging it up in a way that suits songwriters and artists, but also for the betterment of the environment and that involves us building technology and bespoke commercial models.

In the physical world, there are endless studies around how the right music choices in store can affect purchasing patterns, and how different BPMs can generate different behaviors. It goes without saying that everything built in the metaverse is essentially a meet-up spot of some description, whether it’s a retail outlet, a bar, a club environment, or just a place to hang out with friends. Most places in the real world use commercial music to create atmosphere, to create engagement, and to encourage dwell time. And if the metaverse has any chance of succeeding, it needs to be able to replicate that real-life experience.

The metaverse is very early on in its development, but it will eventually get there. And so the opportunity for the music industry is posing questions to creators like, ‘How can we help the metaverse sound great?’, ‘How can we all benefit from that?’, ‘How can we enable it by building proprietary technology and creating viable commercial models?’ and ‘How can we benefit committed music fans and artists alike?’.

When we see an opportunity like that, we ask, how can we solve this problem? What’s the opportunity for everyone involved? And often you’ll find that there’s a win-win for everyone. When you see a win for everyone in a value chain, it becomes a no-brainer.

About Echoes of Eternity

A new compilation after the next batch of six album releases: Echoes of Eternity is now available. This new set offers 35 songs of chill beats with some eclectic ones towards the end, carefully selected from a number of releases between 2021 and 2023.

Albums featured

I ended 2021 with Sapphire LP, inspired by one of my favorite retro games, which I have been replaying that time. 2022 on the other hand, started off with a huge milestone: the 20th album. Honestly, I worked a lot on this release, and therefore Travellers is also featuring a number of beats on this release. Bit of fun to follow afterward: Rock 128. Inspired by one of my most played childhood Game Boy games and a new synth, the PO-128. Pairing Sapphire, Ruby was my next release, still in 2022. And finally started 2023 with Diamond LP. Lastly, Pearl was just recently added to the roaster in October 2023.

EPs featured on Echoes of Eternity

A mass number of 15 EPs were released during this 6 LPs, all being featured on Echoes of Eternity compilation. So, let me list them for you in this paragraph. Starting off with City Lo-fi featuring lofi hip-hop beats inspired by cities, I have been to. Cafè Tokyo on the other hand offers true Tokyo-inspired bar beats. Cowboy Gospel kicked off a long journey, I still enjoy, featuring Cowboy Bebop live series inspired space chill beats. But still, in 2022, I released an EP in collaboration with Viktor Hegedüs with 4 new disco songs: Up in the Air. Venus Pop quickly followed this release returning to the space lofi genre, along with Dog Star Swing. But I had more up in my sleeves for 2022: Urban Night. Again with Viktor, this time dwelling into the depths of classic chill (electronic-based downtempo music). Was it enough for 2022? No, Callisto Soul edged in. Space chill indeed dominated my roaster this year.

EPs of 2023

Next year's spring offered Moon Festival, a tribute to sakura (cherry blossom) and in general the reborn of nature. I worked with Viktor again on this EP. We tried to show you another side of ours. Hopefully managed it. Hospital Playlist was born originally in 2022 and has an interesting story. But I only decided to release it later in 2023. Experimental Disco was my last collaboration EP with Viktor for now. As the title suggests, it is less lofi chill, but still an enjoyable release and offers a change on my palette. Shogunate followed the list with a set of further experimental, yet oriental-inspired songs. Finally Dark Side Tango, Binary Two-Step, and Galileo Hustle. All 3 EPs are inspired by the already-mentioned Cowboy Bebop live series. And yes, more to come.

Compilations on Echoes of Eternity?

I label every release apart from LPs and EPs as compilations. However, some could rather be called special releases. 3 of them feature beats on this release, let me mention them below. Travellers B-Sides - as already mentioned, I worked a lot on Travellers LP, so essentially I pilled up some extra beats, which I released later. Summer Chill with Ermine-chan is a set of T21CB cover songs. Lastly, Cherryland is a pack of 12 songs covering my old band, Dark Cherry.
