Hi, can I request a one-shot of Jax with a ballerina! reader? 👀, it can be romantic or platonic (she/her pronouns)

Jax x Ballerina Reader (FEM READER)

You'd tried your very hardest to avoid Jax ever since you'd first met him. And it wasn't just because of Ragatha's firm suggestions, it was also because the first time you'd interacted with him he'd smashed your porcelain arm and played it off as an accident.

Caine luckily could fix your arm with just a snap of his fingers but it offended you nevertheless and you'd made a point to stay away from him ever since.

Unfortunately for you, it just intrigued Jax further and egged him on.

He didn't directly approach you anymore and let you distance yourself but conducted mischievous pranks on you from afar instead.

It began with him laying a rat beneath your sheets, so when you uncovered it during night, it left you shrieking and hobbling away from your bed, drawing the attention of many other characters.

You slammed backwards onto the floor, holding out your fragile palms to steady yourself. Luckily nothing on your body had seemingly broke or cracked, but you barely acknowledged it as you jerked your head around the room in an attempt to watch the rat flee.

To your annoyance, the rat had scampered away just as they all peeked in.

Jax, who had joined the gawking characters at the entrance, cocked his head and grinned directly at you, eyeing your fallen position on the floor.

"Wow, rather ungraceful for a ballerina." He quipped smugly.

You glared right back, connecting the dots immediately.

You attempted to explain to the others that he'd planted a rat in your quarters but as Ragatha searched your room alongside you, in search of the pest, she discovered nothing.

"Maybe you just imagined it?" Ragatha guessed.

"You don't believe Jax would do such a thing?" You sighed back, smoothening down your leotard and grimacing.

"Well... he definitely would." Ragatha admitted. "I'm just surprised he's done it to you of all people."

"Why wouldn't he do it to me?" You asked in annoyance, placing your hands on your hips. "He's a prick."

Ragatha shrugged, giving you a slight smile.

"He just hasn't really insulted you much, not even behind your back."

You frowned; but shook it off.

Insults weren't needed when you tormented people instead... as annoying as it was, that was probably Jax's logic.

All you could really do now was prepare yourself for the second prank.

But this one was different.

You strolled through the circus, eyeing the combustion and flurries of colours with wary eyes. It was always overly colourful but these walks tended to help you clear your head and escape from Caine's wretched adventures so you took them anyway.

But of course, all things must come to an end and you reached the edge of the tent pretty quickly. You were preparing to swing back around again when suddenly voices rang out distantly from behind a green block.

You frowned. Who else could possibly be these deep into the tent as you were?

"...Somebody has to tell Caine to stop using Gloinks..." Ragatha grumbled.

"Doubt he will, he loves them." Zooble deadpanned. "Do you think that the newcomer will get swept away by them like me someday? She's really breakable."

You pressed up against the block, resisting the urge to peek.

"Hmm... maybe you guys will go back down to the queens nest together then, killing two birds with one stone." Jax said pleasantly.

Zooble audibly scoffed.

"Whatever. You'd come down to save her anyway. Your stupid little soft spot for her is so obvious!"

Jax's snarky protests were drowned out by Ragatha's giggles and eventually their footsteps echoed away until their voices finally faded completely.

You tried not to feel too special but it was a little difficult to drop the possibility of Jax even caring slightly for you and as you walked back to your quarters, narrowly avoiding gloinks, you could barely suppress the urge to beam or smirk triumphantly.

As you nudged your quarters door open suddenly you heard metal clink from above you and you glanced up to see a can of yellow paint, tipping straight over you.

You tried to avoid it but you were practically a deer caught in headlights at this point and it washed over you, leaving you to spit out paint.

Footsteps breezed by you accompanied by cheerful whistling, no doubt Jax.

But this time, you didn't feel as angry as you were before.

this one may be a little short since my back is already starting to get all... stiff... sobs.... might go lay down for a few minutes then come back and knock out the other request that got sent in !!

CAINE:

caine is a little perplexed as to why you stay at the lake all the time, your room does have water... though, to be fair, your room is blocked off and small. i think it would take him a while to directly interact with you but just know that every night when you sing hes listening to you... actually now that i think about it, i dont think it would take him long to make himself known, he would probably clap and applaud you after one of your personal performances... probably makes sailor jokes, because, you know, sea stuff and mermaid lore... wants to include you more in stuff so he probably does IHAs that are lake themed, or perhaps makes something sort of like a portable tank..

POMNI:

she probably mistakes you for an NPC for a moment LMAO... i was going to go with an idea that pomni would be into mythology and stuff but now that i think about it, i actually see the opposite now thats more of something i can see zooble and gangle being into... not many ideas for pomni, unfortunately, but i think she would be friendly around you for manners

RAGATHA:

she thinks your really pretty, i think... while ragatha doesnt strike me as the type to be into mythology and stuff, i think she subconsciously is attracted to you because she grew up on stories about mermaids, fairies, and princesses... sure she doesnt remember all that since shes gotten stuck in the digital world, but the instinct to be near you is still there... i think if she got caught listening to you sing she would be so embarrassed, probably tries to excuse herself unless you tell her she can stay.. having someone come by down to the lake is nice, to finally have company

JAX:

has probably snagged your comb and darted to the shore of the lake far enough so that you cant reasonably crawl out of the water and grab it back, assuming you actively need water to survive instead of mobility... but either is really mean in my opinion.. toss him into the water/j actually i dont think he can swim, jax doesnt look like the kind of person to swim.. omg omg bonding moment for when you two get closer, imagine teaching him how to (admin never learned how to swim so theyre unqualified to write this </3)

KINGER:

rarely leaves the tent but lets say he goes down to the lake one day while you happen to be out.. similar to pomni i think he would mistake you for an NPC simply because you are almost never in the tent... i think he would enjoy your singing, though, very calming and it eases him.. quietly listens and returns a few times when he sees youre out. meek apologies when hes caught, hes almost sheepish about it and admits that he should have asked before getting up in your business.. ooo i love this man

ZOOBLE:

"so like, do you drown people," just straight up, probably asks this after a day of jax being more annoying than usual... as mentioned earlier i think they would be really into mythological creatures and lore, as well as cryptids, both before and after joining the circus... sure you probably arent lore accurate to mermaid stories in the real world, but i think they would like to learn about youre whole deal.. sometimes helps you get stuff out of your hair if things get tangled up

GANGLE:

gangle is what gets tangled up in your hair^/j

no but i think she would also be very interested in your whole deal, but is less blunt about it unlike zooble... also thinks your pretty.. i think she would bring stuff down to the lake for you guys to do together, like games and drawing stuff... its nice for the both of you to be away from everyone else but still have company in someone who knows what its like to be cast to the side; be it due to shyness or being locked to a place

Enjoy some more doodles! More under the cut if ya wanna look.

Finally got around to drawing @fannele's Able, he's largely based on: "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream". I drew Able if he somehow managed to be unabstracted. He's just a little lad looking for new coping methods cuz he feels bad for everything he put the cast through, and my Abel loves to help with mental health care!

Also drew an interaction between the three Able designs I've seen so far. Sorry for not asking if I could draw your little guy @sm-baby! Had an idea and the doodle was already half way there before I knew it. Hope it made you smile a little!

Short blip for my version of Abel that's deviates a little is that his Caine doesn't actually resent or feel jealous of Abel in anyway and actually adores his little brudder.

Hey guys, and welcome to another piece for The Amazing Digital Circus! :) This was inspired by another yandere!Ragatha set of headcanons, written by the talented @xciiii! I highly recommend checking it out, so I will leave a link to it here.

Without being said, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! :)

Ragatha is someone who will get attached to her darling slowly as she gets to know them. At first, the realization that she possessed such feelings will embarrass her greatly, these….feelings she has towards them. Yet as time went on, or if anyone keeps tabs on time anymore, her love grew and grew until she…she just couldn’t stand the thought of someone else falling for her darling.

Being trapped in the Amazing Digital Circus is not an ideal place to get attached to anyone beyond being friends, even when Caine’s little adventures have helped her from abstracting like poor Kaufmo. And Kaufmo had been her darling’s friend. Her darling was so upset when they learned about his abstraction. And there was nothing wrong with comforting her darling at their lowest point. Not at all.

At least she wouldn’t have to use the key to their room yet. Jax had been so #@$%^&!* stubborn with handing it over. But she’ll deal with him when the time comes.

Thankfully, Pomni seems to be adjusting just fine and doesn’t have any interest in anything beyond finding a way to leave this exit. If Ragatha was honest…Pomni seemed kind of scared to be around her darling and tried to avoid being paired up with them during activities.

Maybe it’s because her darling is a tiny rabbit doll with floppy ears and tiny red eyes? Ragatha wasn’t sure. Not everyone who comes to this place is able to retain their human form. Look at Kinger, Gangle, Zooble, and Jax.

Gangle liked her darling's form because it reminded the circus' artist of an anime that she used to watch before coming here, though she struggled to remember the name of it.

Ragatha will try not to get jealous when her darling spends an afternoon helping Kinger build a pillow fort or drawing with Gangle, she really will because she knows they like them as only friends, never anything beyond that. A certain periwinkle rabbit will make it hard on her, though, if he tries to flirt with them.

When it came right down to it, Ragatha didn’t care so much about appearances as much as her darling’s personality. And in her defense, she never thought her curiosity, this tiny little crush would become something so suffocating, so lovely, that all she can think about is her darling and making sure they are safe.

If something happened to them…well, she’d go crazy and tear this whole world apart like Kaufmo had tried to do.

anyway- i wanted to ask for a platonic tadc one. jax, caine, ragatha, gangle, zooble, pomni and kinger x teen reader (im not sure if u are used to making multiple in one post, but u can choose just one or somes if u are struggling :3), the reader have a personality similar to a eeve, if u know what i mean. shes kind and caring, a bit energetic and fun-loving, she protects the other characters and give them some weird things she finds around, she smiles a lot and i imagine one trait of her appearance, it being she having a cardboard box in her head that shows her facial expressions by emoticons, like ">w<" and ":0" (u dont need to add that, i just thought its a fun concept to write about). bUT in the other hand... shes not so sweet. she is chaotic and not much as jax but she loves to tease others (like playfully fighting or being playfully mean but never crossing a boundary by doing so), shes stubborn to do things she dosent want to do and shes lazy, she is bold w her feelings and she have a bit of a short temper to some topics (even tho she dosent physically hurt anyone, she does create a beef w them and is sure to show it, by dirty looks and being passive agressive)

anyway, i dont think i have further ideas. so have fun!!1! u can deny this request if u want. its totally ok ^_^

✰If you like pranking people, you're surely going to ask Jax for help.

✰he's like the pranking master there, just ask and he'll help you!!

✰definitely bullies you at first, kinda depends on how you look and act. Also endlessly bullies you because you're really young. Would not care that you're a 'teen', you're still a little child in his eyes.

✰You're short? im sure you won't mind if Jax puts his arm on your head!

✰Tall?? like, taller than Jax?? Hes gonna kick you behind the knee so you're shorter! (be ALWAYS on guard because this guy kicks hard even when he doesn't mean it)

✰You're like, happy all the time?? He would try to make you sad (as a joke)

✰If you're small, he IS going to throw you at things and maybe people too in certain occasions.

✰If you're arguing with someone, he just roots for you on default. He doesn't even care what it is about or with who you're arguing with, he's gonna trip the person you're arguing with either way (unless it's caine, that dude floats)

✰If you have a cardboard box as your head, he's surely drawing on it or putting stickers on it. Everyone would do that, sure. But his stickers are either offensive or just ugly (will act as if you stabbed him with a fork if you remove them)

✰If you've got long hair (or hair that you can tie up) he'd go like "let me tie your hair, it looks ugly" and pull on it as hard as he can (ultimately making you fall)

✰teaches you comebacks so you don't look like a 'loser' while arguing with someone (please don't use his comebacks they are really bad)

✰might let you see where he puts his keys to various places (like rooms and stuff, yours included somehow) but dont tell anyone or he's going to kick you into the sun

✰Personally, i give rocks i think are pretty to the people i care about. I draw a face on them, and bam here's the gift. If you do that too, but maybe with other objects, Jax is probably going to hit you with it atleast once (not too hard though)

✰If you tend to give lots of gift he's probably going to need a little corner of his room called 'gifts from ___'

✰Some gloinks came into his room once and stole some of the gifts from that corner. Jax never told you (he forgot to..)

✰Steals your food at the dinner table while bullying Gangle because he has nothing better to do

✰If you're in time out for any reason (like swearing too much) he's going to get you out of the punishment (he always fails bruh)

✰The only reason why he fails is that he's bad at coming up with an excuse because it's to get YOU out of trouble. It's easy when he's trying to get himself out of trouble and comes naturally, but it just doesn't with other people.

✰overall really annoying if he actually enjoys spending time with you, would recommend unless you're really irritable

₊ ⊹ZOOBLE

✰Zooble is really chill, they may even become your 'gossip buddie' if you'd like.

✰The fact that you're younger than them makes it easier (for them, at least.) since you can learn alot from them!

✰Pulls up to your door, rings the doorbell and when you open she goes "i HAVE to tell you about-" and just enters your room while he speaks(unless you don't want to, of course)

✰if you have a cardboard box head, they surely wrote 'zooble' on your carboard box and some insults somewhere (mainly for Jax)

✰laughs ALOT when you tease or straight up pick on people (especially Jax)

✰If you see one of his parts not in the place it's supposed to be, please put it in it's respective place! If you've become friends with zooble, they will surely trust you with things like putting back a body part if she doesn't notice it's in the wrong place!!

✰If you swear a lot, they'll probably laugh until Caine puts you in timeout (that's when she knows she's next)

✰If you ask nicely, they will try to find some (digital) nail polish and let you paint their nails (or them painting your nails, they don't mind either way.)

✰Almost chopped some of your hair off once while trying to do a cute hair style (the crab hand thing is really sharp. They didnt mean it!!!!)

✰flips you off on daily basis for random reasons and roll their eyes in the sassiest way possible

✰If you give them gifts, they'll act as if it's horrible but store it in his room later (he's NEVER telling you that)

✰Is grateful when you (try to) protect them from gloinks. Everytime Zooble is around, some gloinks are already there to just steal her body parts! Help her, do something please!

✰Overall very chill, would recommend unless you get offended easily

₊ ⊹CAINE

✰oh boy!!

✰the circus is a place for children. Finally a child or someone close to one!!!!

✰He's very excited. Makes you and the others (Zooble doesn't usually come though) go have adventures! you even got to choose once!!!

✰Again, if you wear a carboard box head he will sign it like hes a celebrity and write a something next to his signing. (his handwriting is really elegant too!)

✰Once made you look after Bubble while he was dealing with... some things and the whole circus was almost set on fire (all thanks to jax trying to see if Bubbles were flammable)

✰If you swear too much, you'll have to go in timeout!!!! (Zooble goes in timeout often)

✰Stores every single one of your gifts even if Jax says they're ugly

✰𝘓𝘖𝘝𝘌𝘚 your energy and attitude!

✰Very happy to see you enjoy your time here with the others.

✰If you're a picky eater or dont like the (digital) food chef Bubble cooks, hes surely going to make Bubble cook something of your choice!!

✰If you entered the circus when you were 10 years old or less, you probably had a bedtime before turning 12. If you were up past your bedtime, you were usually put in timeout!

✰Finds it funny that you tease people.

✰Overall much of a father figure if you've entered the circus when you were really young. (like from 7-11 years old)

✰Pomni was NOT expecting to find a kid in the circus.

✰Why aren't you trying to find a way out? You're young, get out of here and live a happy life!!

✰Other than than, Pomni is very shy and awkward at first.

✰She's not.. sure on what to say. To you, to everyone.

✰She's still trying to find a way out so she won't talk to you or anyone at first.

✰After some time, you speak more and more to her until she gets comfortable with you.

✰She chuckles when you tease people, sometimes.

✰will draw on your cardboard box head if you have on and write her name on it.

✰She often talks to you about the exit door, about the real world.

✰"Don't you want to go back?" she literally bombards you with questions of all kind..

✰Try to be friendly with her, please! She's still trying to get used to the circus and it's weird individuals... (ahem.Jax.)

✰i just KNOW that Jax tripped Pomni atleast once. Please don't let that happend..

✰(tries to) Keeps your gifts somewhere in her room, often loses some..

✰Overall really nice when you get to know her. Stutters alot when shes nervous and is still shocked.

₊ ⊹RAGATHA

✰a kid?? here?? Oh my.

✰She WILL tell you about everything you should know.

✰"Oh, be careful or you might-" "This is where we usually-" "don't! Its dangerous!"

✰She tries her best.

✰Shes always there for you! She tries to get you involved in activities, adventures and everything!

✰Writes a happy phrase on your cardboard box (if you have one) so that you're happy, even when not feeling like your best.

✰loves your gifts! Is a little weirded out at first but loves them alot! She keeps them in her room like trophys.

✰Will make your hair look very cute if you let her touch it. She will put bows, ribbons, every cute thing that she think might fit you.

✰Loves to have someone as nice as her (for the most part) and is glad that she's not the only one with a 'cheerful' attitude at the circus.

✰You can protect her if you want but be careful for random sharp things! Ragatha will be mad(not at you) if you accidentally get hurt while you try to protect her..

✰Shes honestly like a mother figure or an older figure you can count on.

✰Overall the nicest person at the circus, would recommend

₊ ⊹KINGER

✰He jumpscared you once.

✰Apologized right after, of course!

✰Kinger is a rather.. paranoid person. He doesn't get out of his impenetrable fortress unless someone needs him, and gets starled easily.

✰At first, he wasn't sure on what to think about you.

✰When you decided to gift him a little handmade insect collection, he immediately thanks you and invites you into his fortress.

✰You two had fun, and he said you could come in his fortress at any time, but to just warn him beforehand.

✰Stores every gift you give him. Could be an insect collection, rocks or handmade stuff. He doesn't care. He collects them.

✰He still jumpscares you (accidentaly) most of the times. He doesn't mean it!

✰He's super convinced that 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐞 would've 𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥 you.

✰He wishes she was still here, just to show you off.

✰Would get amused when you tease people!

✰Please dont let the gloinks just steal his fortress!!!!

✰Overall pretty chill aside from the sudden jumpscares and random screams, would recommend

✰would warm up to you pretty quickly.

✰Please comfort her when shes crying or when Jax breaks her comedy mask!!! :(

✰Almost always has her comedy mask when she's with you. Shes just so happy!

✰If you try to help her fix her mask, shes going to be really grateful.

✰Please teach her some comebacks so that shes not completely hopeless against Jax :(

✰Shes mostly kind to you, but Gangle is also a shy soul.

✰She's like a bigger sister to you.

✰She tries her best to be as happy as she can around you.

oh well long-post comes-

okay i did a little searching, since i often don't understand such ship names. if google doesn't lie to me, then the first one is Pomni/Jax, and the second is Pomni/Caine.

damn, I thought funnybunny was the name for Ragatha/Jax 💔💔

i don't ship Pomni/Jax but i find the pairing cute. i don't sense any special dynamic between them, Jax just makes fun of her the same way he makes fun of everyone else because he's a jerk (i say this lovingly). when i discovered that this pairing was the most popular in the fandom, i didn’t really understand why, since i wouldn’t say that there was anything particularly interesting going on between these two. I think the dynamics between Jax and Ragatha were more distinct, which I immediately noticed, they had tension and i really liked it x) but then, after thinking about it a little, i realized why Pomni/Jax is the most popular ship (I guess?? it's just my supposition) — people combined two of the most main characters, one of whom is a badass-tumblr-sexyman, and the second is an angsty ordinary person with whom people could identify themselves. anyway i just find it funny that so many people like this ship. i saved fanarts of these two a couple of times because i thought they were cute. to be honest, kitsch's (@ bunnyjesters/ nuzipilled) works probably influenced my opinion about this ship the most. arts with Pomni and Jax from kitsch is probably my favorite among all the other fanarts for this couple, i think that he well preserves their canon behavior and characters despite the fact that the pairing itself in the cartoon is non-canon, and their interactions in his art feel quite realistic for me! i love how kitsch draws them and how he uses gestures and body language to show their emotions, it's very, very cute. so yeah, i don't ship them, but i do find some of the fanart of them cute. i drew this a while ago, so have this if it will make you happy 🌸

now Kaine/Pomni...ahmmm, to be honest, i was even more surprised that this is probably the second most popular pairing in the fandom? :D apparently it really comes across often and haha, i don’t understand it... i’ve never been interested in the dynamics of student/teacher or employee/boss, in my understanding there can be no romance in their relationship, maximum platonic, family relationships, understanding each other. Kaine is very quirky and doesn't seem like he's interested in romance (i generally like Kaine/Moon, but i really think Kaine is just confused by Moon's behavior since he's not interested in her romantically x)). it's more like he treats all the guys in circus like friends, colleagues or something like that. so yeah, it's weird for me to see romantic stuff with Pomni/Caine, but like the first one, occasionally i might come across fanart with them that i think is cute. once I saw a mini-comic (don't remember the author) dedicated to that circus teaser, in the comic Caine suddenly appeared in Pomni's room. Pomni, out of fear, hits him sharply, after which he got upset and she began to apologize <з

if we talk about my fav ship, i love Ragatha/Jax! i don't remember this "name" for the pairing, but yes, that's them. dynamics like theirs are my favorite dynamic in couples, i just love it when characters can't stand each other lol. i love the tension between them and i'm afraid i paid too much attention to it while watching the pilot... oh my god, a moron, who pisses everyone off, with a good-natured girl, who wants to help everyone, but she has to deal with this asshole. i guess it's the "from hate to love" trope, right? i like that the first thing that manifests itself in such couples is negativity, they just piss each other off and cannot calm down. but after a while the annoying cools down and they begin to open up to each other. ofc i don't know Gooseworks’ plans, but you guys probably thought that Jax is actually not such a jerk as he shows himself to be, and in fact he is a deeper character, with his own traumas and trials? let's not turn this into a tragic sob story, but nevertheless, Gooseworks said "every tadc character has a reason why they behave the way they do" and i believe that we will be revealed that. it seems to me that to some extent Jax and Ragatha can complement each other. Like, you know, it’s like N helps Uzi cool down and be calm, and Uzi helps N to be confident and defend his positions. maybe Jax can show Ragata that her toxic positivity is not the best option and sometimes you need to be tough, and Ragatha can help him open up, share his problems and well...to be less jerk-like. and yes, of course i can't get it out of my head that Jax called her "dollface" while he gave the others rude nicknames haha

also i like Ragatha/Pomni, i probably don’t pay much attention to them, but they're good. there are cute interactions between them and it seems that Ragatha was better than the others in being able to approach her and become somewhat of a friend. Ragatha has this energy of a caring mother or something, so her desire to help Pomni get comfortable in the circus and direct her to positive thoughts is cute. at the same time, Pomni looks extremely confused, but Ragatha is the one she turns to because she seems the most adequate and friendly of the others. i liked to draw how they hug, but in i think that most likely Ragatha would not have allowed herself to hug someone without asking, at least she would have asked permission x) however, it seems to me that physical contact and kind words are Ragatha's way of support, so simply holding hands with her would calm Pomni down

also i like Pomni/Gangle and Gangle/Kinger and i don'tind other ships as well !!

Did y’all get to see the New TADC Episode just like I did? I hope you had the chance to do so. I was able to have motivation to draw one of the new characters from there. Gummigoo! I loved this little Gummy Croc if that’s what he is. Spoilers ahead but…

I really hated how Caine just wiped him off from existence just cause he was an NPC coming into the circus. I also loved the interactions between him and Pomni. I will be adding making TADC OCs into my list along with making my own group with them! What do you guys think?

Sception Reads Cass Cain #21

Ghost / Batgirl #1-4 Words: Mike Kennedy Pictures: Ryan Benjamin Additional Work: Randy Emberlin, Howard Shun

One impression I used to have that going back to look at ~all~ of Cass's early appearances has forced me to reconsider is the idea that she didn't appear outside of her own books very much. While later on that is more the case, early on she does have a fair few guest appearances and cross overs, including in this bit of non-canon dual publisher cross promotion with Elisa Cameron, aka Ghost, a Dark Horse character with a solo that had been running since 1995.

The miniseries pits long time Batman villain Harvey Dent against brand new Ghost antagonist Malcolm Greymater - a (fictional) confederate general turned zombie libertarian corpse reanimator - in a conflict over Greymater poaching some of Dent's employees (ie reanimating goons that Dent killed). Babs, Cass, and Elisa get caught in the middle and are forced to work together after following separate threads of a bombing by Two Face and bodies stolen by Greymater only to be sold off into unsavory employment after failed reanimation experiments.

I don't want to go through the whole thing with a plot summary - it's four issues of non-canon stuff after all. But as a stand alone story it works fairly well, worth a read if you're a fan of early Cass. In particular there's solid characterization of Harvey Dent and what it's like to work for him - pretty bad actually. You can see why he'd get upset at someone trying to poach his guys, working conditions for goons in Gotham are terrible, if word got around of better conditions in Arcadia (Ghost's hometown) or wherever else then Batman's villains could easily find themselves suffering a labor shortage. The mere idea of that is funny enough to me that I can't help but like this little mini series, and it's an idea I'd love to see brought back. Goons On Strike - now there's a solid idea for an ongoing Gotham event crossover.

Anyway, Ghost/Batgirl is definitely a higher fantasy story than we usually see from Cass, at least back in the early days, but there's a focus on the individual lives and humanity of the underlings working for the villains that's very grounded and down to earth. That fits in really well next to the "street level" focus of Cass's early solo title. As for the book's cross-promotional function, it does make me curious about Ghost, though probably not enough so to go back and look at her solo title. I like her villain here, but Malcolm Greymater and his crew seem to be more or less exclusive to this crossover? Comicvine is telling me he maybe appears in a single issue outside of this, so that's kind of disappointing.

So setting aside the story, how's our girl in this? Well, first of all, she's being drawn by new hands. In costume she's mostly fine.

Sleek and spooky, glossy black. The details of her form are sometimes lost in the darkness, which loses some specificity in the action panels, but in a way that mostly works aesthetically. My only real complaint here is that her facial expression doesn't really show through the mask. You don't get a sense of what she's thinking or feeling in costume, she's just this dark angry spooky form, not so much a person or a character. As I've said in the past, though, that's as much or more a criticism of her costume design as it is of how any particular artist draws her in it.

It's also worth noting that, as with Cass's early pairing with Azrael, her costume contrasts very nicely with Ghost's. White with round hood and billowing cape vs. Cass all black and pointy. Aesthetically it's a great fit.

Out of costume, though...

I don't know. Just doesn't quite look like Cass to me? I know, I know, comic character facial features don't have the same specific canon as their costumes do, different artists have different styles so characters will look different, and there's definitely a stylistic element here that isn't gelling with me. The overall shape of the head is too thin, maybe, making her look a bit older than she should, where I'm used to Scott's more rounded face, stronger jaw, bushier eyebrows, shorter, poofier hair.

Scott's style, at least at the time, also just packs in more emotional expression, which is absolutely critical for a silent protagonist.

By contrast Benjamin's Cass, when she's not in costume, is often just standing a bit behind Babs with a sort of blank, neutral expression while Babs interacts with other characters or the audience for her.

Which also kind of brings us to the writing for Cass here. Ghost / Batgirl is probably the best example yet that silent Cass was a mistake, because yeah, the creators of this book just do not know how to convey her character to the reader without words. The first image starts with Cass looking out over the wreckage of a bombing, and of course there's pseudo noir internal monologue all over it, because how else do you start a bat-book, only Cass can't narrate so Babs provides the narration even though she isn't even in that scene.

Babs goes along on the adventure mostly so the writers have someone who can talk for Cass, or even in some panels quite literally talk over Cass.

Cass is an intimidating physical presence in costume, but in this book she functions more as an extension of Babs than as a person in her own right.

...

It's not all bad, though. In particular there's this one bit introducing an additional ability for Cass that makes perfect sense with her backstory and yet sadly I don't think is ever mentioned again in a canon Batgirl story:

Cass gets poisoned, but she survives, and recovers remarkably quickly, because she has a natural resistance to many poisons and venoms built up from repeat exposure to tiny amounts when she was a child, because of course that's something David would do. You could just imagine little Cass and David having drinking contests to see who could take the most poison before passing out, or even sneakily poisoning each other as a little game of escalating pranks.

...

So yeah, overall a nice little stand alone series with maybe not the best depiction of Cass, but one that is illustrative of why the major change to have her start speaking, while I still don't like how it was done, was probably for the best.

Seven Years Later, a wedding unfolds in the Omega Timeline between a skeleton and human.

Gradient

“Gradient stop squirming.”

“I’m not!”

“Gee Grady, did you gain weight?”

“N-no?”

“Come on Grady, I just want you to look good on your big day! I am the artist, you know.”

Ink grabbed hold of Gradient’s pant leg, trying to hike it up until it draped over Gray’s foot.”

Gradient grumbled. “Well the artist picked up the wrong pant size from the boutique.”

Ink then began to fiddle with Gradient’s long draping, green and black overshirt. “Well, well, well that’s what was in the bag when I picked it up!”

Gradient sighed. “Whatever, just, try to keep yourself together for just one day. Don’t bother other guests. Don’t start doing interpretive dance when the music starts in the hall. And please, for the love of god, don’t start explaining skeleton anatomy to anyone, especially not my fiance.”

Ink looked Gradient up and down, getting to his feet. “Huh? I don’t do that!” He tapped a finger against his cheek. His eye sockets shifted between a few rounds of various shapes. “Ugh. What is your special guy’s name anyway? Uh. Caine, Carrie, Raphael, something along those lines right?”

Frustrated glitches began to spritz off of Gradient’s body as he dragged his hands down his cheeks. “See? This is exactly what I mean! Casey! His name is Casey! Here!” Gradient found a rotting bandaid on the floor of the wedding hall’s bathroom. Ink mindlessly handed him a pen, an excited expression gripping his face. He was probably just excited by the thought that Gradient was going to draw something. Gradient pasted the bandaid on the wall and etched out- “C-A-S-E-Y” on the portion that wasn’t bloody, and handed it to Ink, whose eyes rapidly scanned over the name.

“Ah. Casey. I remember now. Thanks Gray.” Ink patted Gradient on the head, ending with an affirming smack, and just stood utterly still, a goofy smile stretching across his face.

Gradient pulled up the decorative hood that was attached to his shirt portion. He didn’t realize that his hands were shaking and that beads of sweat began to streak down his forehead. The hood’s cool darkness made him feel a bit better though, as it always had in the past. Like a little dome where he could escape the grip of reality. And Ink. And PJ’s crayon-eating sessions.

“Aww.” Ink clasped his own hands together and striked an adoring pose. “You look so skrunkly wunkly, my little Grady. Hahahaha.” Ink abruptly swept Gradient into a smothering embrace, lifting him above the ground with surprising force considering the artist was significantly smaller than him. He could feel Ink’s hip bones jam into his side. It hurt almost as bad as that one time Casey chucked him down a full flight of stairs, resulting in a shattered rib bone and two rolls of cheap adhesive bandages.

“Uhhhhgg.” Gradient managed to wheeze. Finally, after an eternity and a half, Ink set Gradient down, yet continued to stare at him with a dopey smile. An awkward silence existed between the two until Ink lifted a finger into the air.

“Oh! I almost forgor, uh, forgot. Dream wanted you to have this. He thought it would add a ‘splendid accent’.” The artist dug inside of his pant leg, retrieving a silver circlet that sort of broke off and overlapped delicately near the center. Like that thing that Dream unconditionally wore as if it was a part of his body.

Gradient stared at it, the bathroom’s LED lights bouncing off of the reflective silver surface. It was typical of Dream to assert his opinions and authority wherever he pleased to put it. He was equally bad, if not worse, than Ink in terms of invasive qualities. But Gradient had a whole separate list of worries regarding the small yellow guardian. He was mostly afraid that he would judge Casey for being a human, which would spiral back to arguments about Ink being a bad parent, which would result in a disaster to say the least. Those two were highly corrosive with each other, anyone could tell if they just glanced a bit whenever they talked or spoke or were at all in each other’s presence.

“Here!” Ink took the circlet from Gray’s hands and reached up on his toes, trying to squeeze the piece of metal onto his head.

“Ow! Stop that!”

“Hold on it’ll fit, almost got it!” Ink stuck out his tongue and tried different angles, but the thing wouldn’t slip. It seemed as if Dream had used his own proportions to measure the decorative piece. Someone who was probably at least a foot shorter than him.

Ink eventually gave up and twisted the metal around his arm. Gradient stared at him, concocting a way to make him leave the bathroom because, quite frankly, he had had enough Ink to last another hour, and needed peace.

Rhett had the blade of his hunting knife poking tenderly into the soft underside of the flesh on your chin. He tilted your head upwards to hold your gaze. You were sat on the kitchen table with your legs dangling off the edge and Rhett placed in between your spread thighs.

The single kitchen light swung gently from the ceiling above you both. It emitted a soft glow over the both of you and illuminated Rhett’s features gently. It highlighted the stream of Rhett’s own blood running down from his nose and covering his stubbled chin.

“Those guys at the bar, they didn’t deserve you, Darlin’.” Rhett’s voice cut quietly through your empty kitchen and called out for you.

Your eyes tore away briefly from Rhett’s and you fiddled with the hem of your fraying sundress, mumbling to yourself, “I tried to be good, am I no good?”

You felt so guilty that Rhett got into a fight because of you. The blade pressed a little deeper into your chin and signalled at you to look back at Rhett.

“Sweetheart, you were so good for me. You’re the best thing I’ve ever had.”

Rhett had his face angled downwards to catch your wandering gaze with his eyebrows turned upwards sympathetically. He wanted you to believe what he was saying was the truth, but you were still toying with the guilt. You could feel it swimming around in your gut.

“I always think back to what my Ma’ told me. Don’t talk to strangers or you might fall in love, but you just looked so handsome when you walked over to me.” You were rambling openly to Rhett now, in a lovesick daze.

You hadn’t known Rhett for every long, but you were possessed with each other. Completely infatuated with one another from the moment you met in the same dingy bar Rhett took a swing at for you tonight.

Rhett trailed the edge of his knife around from under your chin to draw back against your jawline. You moved your neck in the opposite direction and let your soft flesh feel the drag. Your lips parted and you let out a small whine.

Your eyes fluttered shut at the arousing feeling of your lover drawing the blade over your neck and you pleaded at Rhett.

“Can I be yours? Just tell me I’m yours, Rhett.”

Rhett let out a low chuckle at your question. He second guessed why you were asking such a question when he already was yours.

“Well, I just wan’ to be yours, can I be yours, m’ love?” He counteracted with a playful tone in his question back at you.

You turned to face Rhett with a soft smile mirroring his own at his reassuring words. His smile caused his own blood above his top lip to drip and pool in the corner of his mouth. You reached your index finger upwards and gathered Rhett’s blood on the pad of your finger. Your lips parted and your tongue darted out to run around the tip of your finger and eagerly suck it down.

You could taste the metallic tinge on your tongue and Rhett. You could taste Rhett. It was euphoric in some strange delight. A lasting bond that no one could ever break between the two of you and you wanted more.

You leaned closer to Rhett and dipped your tongue over your bottom lip to savour the remaining taste of Rhett’s blood on you. He was careful to release the blade from your neck as you moved against it. You were mere millimetres away from Rhett’s face and barely above a whisper, you granted him your heart, body and blood.

“You can be mine, mine, mine, Daddy.”

“Good, Darlin’, because you’re mine.”

You made the final leap and pressed your lips against Rhett’s. He groaned instantly as he felt your tongue now run over his lips and dip inside to collect his blood further into your mouth. You moaned in response as you tasted more of him. You pulled away from his lips and licked at every drop that ran down from his nose. Your tongue ran a board stripe under his chin, feeling his stubble graze you. You met Rhett’s lips again and a debauched moan was caught in between you both.

You pulled away completely and Rhett’s pupils were blown wide black in ecstasy. There was only a small rim of his sparkling blue coloured eyes to be seen. The sight of his own blood smeared across your lips made his cock twitch in his worn out trousers.

Rhett held the blade of his hunting knife back to your neck and drew it down and over your collar bone.

“I never blame you for loving me the way you do.” Rhett spoke whilst his eyes were focused intently on the drag of his blade and how your flesh dipped in response.

The blade of Rhett’s knife drew all the way down your cleavage and pressed into the material of your sundress. At Rhett’s words he made the first streamline cut on your right breast, an inch above your nipple. You gripped onto the edge of the kitchen table to steady yourself and your knuckles turned white. You felt euphoric and you let out a satisfied moan followed by Rhett’s name. Rhett let his hunting knife drop to the kitchen table with a clang and he dipped his head down, latching his own bloodied lips to your blood that came trickling out of the fresh wound. Your hands shot outwards to clutch onto Rhett’s hair and the licks of curls at the nape of his neck. You tugged at the soft strands and he let out a groan in response. You bucked your hips upwards and closer to his off the edge of the table, keening towards his crotch with need.

You couldn’t help yourself but whine out in pleasure when Rhett dipped his tongue into the wound and prodded inside. He wanted to get every drop of you inside of his stomach.

“If I'm turning in your stomach and I'm making you feel sick, am I still good for you?” You gasped out with your head now thrown backwards and your eyes shut in bliss at the sensation Rhett was providing you with his wet muscle.

Every swipe and flick stung a great deal and caused your nerve endings to twitch, but deep down in your gut, it caused it to twist and turn in exhilaration.

You heard Rhett swallow thickly as he sank your blood down his throat. He pulled away momentarily and pressed one, two and three, fleeting kisses around the tender flesh of your nipple that was slick in your blood.

“So, so good for me, Darlin’.” He murmured in delight against your crimson stained breast before pulling his face up to meet yours.

The sight had you moaning and reaching out to cradle Rhett’s face. You wanted to pull him back to you and taste yourself. Rhett’s own blood had bled into his flesh and stained his stubbled jaw. But like a fresh coat of paint, your blood was smeared over his lips and staining his teeth.

“You’re so handsome when I’m all over your mouth.” You whimpered, with your eyes drooping heavily at the thrill of arousal.

“Stay there.”

Rhett hurried around in a top drawer in your kitchen. You could hear the rustle and clanging until he fished out what he was looking for. Your old Polaroid camera.

You perched on the edge of the kitchen table, with your legs still swinging. Your hands gripped at the edge to steady yourself and you squeezed your arms into your breasts to make them, and the trickling blood, stand out.

“Smile for Daddy, Darlin’,” Rhett called out, holding the Polaroid camera up at you.

You wore a sweet and lovesick smile on your face as the camera clicked and the flash went off in your eyes, blinding you for mere moments. If you were to die tonight, your memory would be restricted to a Polaroid in evidence.

not only is this the design and characters ive been needing my whole life, this dude- the brazilian portuguese dub is coming out and the voice actor is one of my favorites!! very famous and loved by many, he voiced the characters in portuguese: mickey, buzz lightyear, superman in a few cases, and even mewtwo!

i love a lovable silly fella, despite having no face he is one of the most expressive characters of all! making the jaws move like eyebrows is so smart :D i'd love to know more about him, the silly ai guy (who in theory, is just an ai made for a video game who's supposed to entertain children for a little while, not keep adults sane! <3)

A little birthday gift to myself I been wanting to talk about this au I made and make art for it but just haven’t anyways introducing what I like to call the jester who didn’t like musicals au with one of my fave moments from the og musical! More about it is under the cut

Now this follows the story of the starkid musical “the guy who didn’t like musicals” but with tadc characters as well the characters, also while I know it’s the first part of the Hatchet field series in this au only tgwdlm is a part of it since tbh I haven’t watched the others, the story is mostly the same besides for a few small changes to make sense anyways here’s the list of characters.

CAINE:

Loves hovering over your shoulder in the air while you're working on art! Not in the annoying way that people do when they hover and watch your every move, literally watching you draw and having the nerve to ask if they can take your sketch and finish it (totally not ranting about personal experience)

It can be a little irritating, but caine just loves how fluid you look when you get in your zone

Keeps every drawing youve given him within arms length. Probably keeps it in his hat. Comically has loads of storage in his hat

POMNI:

Crochet! You try to get pomni into it but she fails so so bad and has a tangled mess of material. Oooo please domt take her hands in yours and guide them on what to do that totally wont make the poor jesters soul part with her body I prooooomise

Gets so excited when she manages to make a simple thing, like a bee plush? Idk I love crochet bees, sm

RAGATHA:

I already headcannon ragatha to knit, sew, and crochet! So perhaps you two sit down and do dates where you guys make something for one another? Or perhaps, for a twist to keep everyones pieces unique, imagine you're new to crocheting and ragatha is helping you make stuff! I think thats a cute idea, me thinks

JAX:

Very bad at both but similar to caine likes watching you do either of the two. Now is he interested to learn either? No I dont think so, but he wouldnt make fun of you for your hobbies and he would join you if you offered or asked him to join you

KINGER:

Make him crochet bugs please please please hes gonna keep them all on his bed/inside his pillow fort!! He always holds one in his hands while hes walking around

You guys sometimes draw together, but zooble is more so a.. musical artist, imo. Idk they give me musician vibes that I cant quite explain... loves keeping any art of you make of them in their room, probably tapes them all over the walls in a unneat fashion

GANGLE:

You and her draw a lot together! In fact that's what brought you two together! It's nice to have someone around who cares about you and shares your passion, I think... very nice.. honestly it's very refreshing for gangle to finally have someone! You guys gifts each other paintings and lil crafts and I think that's cute. Art dates

i can make it so fucked up — not so much anymore, due to the amount of staring at Sampo I've done, but um. "Gibson Girl" by Ethel Cain is still the first song on my Luka playlist for a reason AAHAHA

they're fucking the same guy — GEPARD.

basically canon to me — definitely the shipping brain + almost zero canon Luka appearances but honestly. honestly! their voicelines about each other?? WHAT HAPPENED THERE and is Luka being silly! is he being serious? does he actually like Sampo? is this a bit they're doing?? I need more. I NEED to see them together so badly

i can make it so stupid — consider, for a moment, Luka being an honorary member of the Moles. consider, additionally, that Hook is apparently good friends with Sampo! consider them hanging out with the Moles, and the Moles figuring something strange is going there between both big brothers.... hmm.... they sort of like each other a lot.... and yet when confronted about it they deny everything!! >:O

they make me feel insane — I think I've written about 26k words of fic about them so far. I've been drawing fanart for them since I rolled Luka back in october last year. when I first heard Hozier's song "Too Sweet" my immediate thought was SAMPOLUKA! THIS IS A SONG FROM SAMPO'S POV ABOUT LUKA

i like it in specific scenarios — I do really prefer my dynamic for them above other people's but I have read pretty much every fic in their ao3 tag and most of the ones where they're both tagged and show up and I love each and every one of them

oh there's no way this will end well + in a relationship not sure what but they're in one — I think Sampo is an extremely closed off person, emotionally. both him and Luka are like this. Luka has an easier time opening up to him, of course, once they get to the point of being intimate, physically and emotionally. I don't think Sampo would ask for anything concrete from Luka, they'd probably just be ~good friends~ for a while. but Luka is very much a puppy, a dog, very loyal to those he considers his friends and family. once he considers Sampo as that, there's very little Sampo can do to shatter that loyalty. even if Sampo ghosts him for a while, he'll still wait for him to come back. dog at a train station behavior.

they're sweet — so, Luka has spent pretty much his entire life in the Underworld, right? he was born before the separation order (because it lasted ten years) but before that, he lived with his dad at a blacksmith's forge, so they probably didn't have a lot of time to visit the Overworld, and if they did, Luka probably doesn't remember a lot of it from how little he was. please please please imagine Sampo taking Luka on a tour of the Overworld, treating him to food, and the opera house, and just. Luka seeing the sky and being allowed to just take it in. Sampo buying him flowers. please

oh the devotion — dog at a train station behavior.

thematically delicious — scammer x scammee. performer x audience. two protectors of Belobog (Sampo is a protector fight me on this) finding a bit of comfort in each other.

compatible brand of freaks — so we've talked about how Luka is very much a dog, right? Sampo being a ringleader, a stagehand pulling strings behind the curtain. they're both performers, and honestly, if Luka were a bit more unstable, I could see him being a Masked Fool. I have an AU in my head where Luka goes with Sampo instead of Oleg, like, in a Funny Bone MV type AU, and Sampo introduces him to the Tavern. Luka finds purpose entertaining and bringing hope to people through there, even though as he gets dragged further in, the worse Sampo feels about it.... but yeah :]
