Because I am literally never not thinking about weird meta, blurring lines between reality and narrative, and the whole concept of actors becoming their characters, I am now entertaining thoughts of a Shadow of the Vampire-style story wherein a late-2010s-style all-female The Lost Boys remake gets derailed when the lead actress suddenly starts not showing up to shooting because she's sleeping all day...

“The Dollhouse” — a dialogue poem between Chuck and Metatron, for today’s prompt of the same name!
this poem was inspired by a good handful of other things, namely Supernatural 11x20 "Don't Call Me Shurley", "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo, and a philosophical dialogue between Socrates and one of his students, Euthyphro :)

is willow gna have a love interest in the story?
Short Answer: not this time.
Longer Answer: ideally I'd like this to be a series, but I'm very very focused on making Lonely Shore a complete and satisfying story all on its own before I talk about a sequel or anything like that. Willow won't have a romance in this book, so I'll say no (for now), because I don't want to confirm anything that would be in a (potential) future book. But, that being said, if we do get to that point, I have a few ideas for potential Willow romance(s)!

Biggest fear is that the long-awaited old guard 2 is going to be really disappointing because we've built up years of fandom and headcanons and whatnot, and that a week or so after it's released the fandom just dies

Reading Giving Sanctuary comments on the last chapter and crying because my brain still won’t let me be proud of the last few chapters but people were so kind that it actually pushed back the darkness of that self doubt a little bit

I didn't really have a song in mind for Link to be playing in my ghiralink Orpheus and Eurydice fic—mostly just unnamed song in an unfamiliar language because that was easy lol—but I'm listening to Zelda music and I think it would be fun if it was Laruto's Lament :) it's a simple harp melody, and the lyrics are in Latin, which would call back to the Greco-Roman origin of the myth:
Ad idem, Ad infinitum
In memoriam, cor unum
vi et armis, vale
As is the same eternally
in memory, one heart
with strength and arms (weapons), farewell
The Latin isn't... great. Also I did the translation while listening to the song so I may be
If you look it up online the most popular translation is
Ad Idem (Of the same mind) *idk where they got mind from, and ad mean to/towards not of
Ad Infinitum (Without Limit)
In Memoriam (In memory)
Cor Unum (One heart)
Vi et Armis (By force and arms) *vi et armis is ablative, so it could be with or by, usually determined by context that doesn't exist here. This translation went for a darker interpretation
Vale (Farewell)
We share one mind
Time cannot bind us
Remember
The heart we share
Now the enemy arms destroy me
Farewell
Which isn't exactly what it's saying but works well enough!

man i have really been thinking about worldbuilding and exposition in books recently
when i was like, i don’t know, twelve-ish, I picked up this book about a teenage girl in a spy school. and i absolutely fell in love with it - I thought it was incredibly neat how the book just seemed to drop me into the middle of the story, even starting in the girl’s second year. in fact, the main character frequently referenced events from her first year (falling in love with a civilian, things ending badly, finding secret passageways, losing her mother’s trust etc.)
and I actually really enjoyed the fact that the character had a rich and vibrant life outside of what i had read and that the book didn’t go out of its way to explain her past in flashbacks or anything. i understood the main takeaways and why she was reacting to things based on what i gleaned, and more than that i understood the growth of the character, why she was cautious in certain places but reckless in others, etc and i felt smarter for not being handed the answer on a silver platter
anyway it wasn’t until i finished the book and realized there was a sequel that i looked it up and found out that. in fact. i had started with the second book in the series.
oops.

I've somewhat made a horror movie blog (not on tumblr) so now I need to figure out what to post there. There's several topics I'd be interested in exploring, but idk how to make them sound interesting or good

Anyway I've been doing a lot of development work on the writing front, and thinking about/refining the concept of How Vampires Work that I used in don't let the sun go down on me specifically (in case that might prove to be a sequel hook for that fic and also because I just like made-up dubiously-plausible xenobiology). And.
Concept: Vampirism as a sort of parasitic fungus a la cordyceps to ants.

So, I don't have a tiktok account, but I've occasionally scrolled through the Metal Lords content on there with my friend who has an account.
(It's mostly not our thing, but there will be interesting stuff every now and then)
ANYWAY- point being, a comment we KEPT seeing the other night was people lamenting how Hunter looked with the side of his head shaved. Just over and over. People went on about how he looked "so good" before and how the shaved side just "ruined" his appearance.
Now,
1. There's an aspect of this I'm just not gonna get because I'm not fucking attracted to him. So I can't see that angle.
2. Obviously, narratively, there's a lot of interesting depth to the whole hair debacle. I've rambled about that before but that's not what those commenters are talking about. They just don't like how it looks. They hate it, in fact.
SO, narrative aside, if we look at it just aesthetically, I CANNOT comprehend someone considering this "ruined"
HE LOOKS FUCKING DOPE WHAT DO YOU MEAN???
RUINED WHERE?????
