haha if they dont like talking, the conversations going to be mad dry! or like, one of those that send very sparse replies, like one word answers and whatnot. i hate those, its making it very difficult to figure out how to make the convo flow, but honestly, if i feel like someone who does that, doesnt put in effort, i have began to not put in effort either. i used to, but then i figured why the hell should i when they wont? its almost like dragging a wet rag or sommet.

i never really heard of anybody watching films and, or, series together! is that a legitimate thing? i know on discord they do sometimes watch a series together, but never heard of people doing it together just 2 people. you ever done that?

Difficult in a sense that I’m a very dry texter so I’m very difficult to make conversation with 😅 I also struggle with my attention span (I’ve adhd) so I jump from topic to topic. Also I can’t keep very basic conversations up: like about schools and work place stories or whatnot.

Also in real life my convos always turn out well, I’ve become good at mirroring ppl and forcing the conversation to flow and make people comfortable but it really feels like a job. They don’t notice fortunately :) I would love to actually join in on them tho. Like adding value and enjoying a convo. (Which irl I only do with my only friend and my brother.) What makes it harder is that most of my topics are weird or too personal etc. If I don’t find people online worth talking to, I just don’t. Which feels like a privilege and is nice that I can do that here. I don’t have to force nothing. I don’t dislike those people, don’t get me wrong (only if they’re being mean about it), because as I said: I’m very bad at texting so I relate.

There are two things you need to know, here.

First: There’s a style of Greek pottery that was popular during the Hellenic period, for which most of the surviving examples are from southern Italy. We call them ‘fish plates’ because, well, they’re plates, and they’re decorated with fish (and other marine life).

They’re very cool. We’re not 100% sure what they were for, because most of the surviving ones were found as grave goods, but that’s a different post.

The second thing you need to know is that when we (Classics/archaeology/whatever as a discipline) have a collection of artefacts, like vases, sculptures, paintings, etc. and we do not know the name of the artist, but we’re pretty sure one artist made X, Y and Z artefacts, we come up with a name for that artist. There are a whole bunch of things that could be the source for the name, e.g. where we found most of their work (The Dipylon Master) or the potter with whom they worked (the Amasis Painter), a favourite theme (The Athena Painter), the Museum that ended up with the most famous thing they did (The Berlin Painter) or a notable aspect of their style. Like, say, The Eyebrow Painter.
