finished watching netflix atla! i think the hate is unjustified lol like all that hate seems a little too intense for what i think the show missed. it didn't hit all the same notes as the original show, yeah, so i'm not sure it quite succeeds as an adaptation, but as a standalone show it's pretty good. and i might have some gripes with the characterization, but there was love in the casting and in the costumes and the world, and that goes a long way for me.

He groans. It would be admonishing, that name on that tongue, except that tongue can never be admonishing, not to him. Curling, twining, dancing around names and words like rain on a window during a lazy afternoon, fire-warmed skin all around, soft to the touch. Harsh. Stabbing. Laughing. Choiring through rafters to rustle owl feathers and cause them to shake and shudder. It can be so many things, that tongue. Too many to him.

Sirius is actually quite fascinated by that tongue. Thinks he might like to taste it at some point. Forgets in some moments that he already has in the past, once on a dare, another time in mockery. Not entirely earthshattering but really…

You don't purposefully block things from your mind that aren't. Humans don't crave things that aren't masterful in some regard.

A frustrating thing about media perceptions of violence is that there are a ton of ways I want to write Cybertronians experiencing war and violence in terms of "what are the physical limits they can take" but it seems less extraordinary than it actually is because media already tends to portray even regular humans in combat with improbable or impossible abilities.

Like, how can I say something interesting about "oh Cybertronians have more stamina in battle because they don't bleed [in my headcanon] which means getting cut won't inevitably take them out of a fight in a few minutes" except when was the last time mainstream action media ever took bleeding into account. What about the fact that Cybertronians can break limbs or lose them completely and just get a replacement put on, but human characters losing limbs or getting prosthetics are rarely shown getting physical therapy or anything that would come with losing a limb. Even something as basic as "Cybertronians can be in direct combat for hours without tiring" falls flat when so many media portrays human combat as this crazy thing where people have the stamina to do flips and shit for minutes on end which isn't accurate at all.

#squiggposting #the first thing you learn about fighting (in research or in practice) is that fighting is fucking tiring #and that the smallest of injuries can fuck you up badly #see humans suck because there's a lot of pain points or vital structures on our body that are very exposed and easily targeted #but to me the appeal of cybertronians is that they. they don't have those weaknesses or at least can take far more punishment #it's hard for me to look at human anatomy the same way any more once i was taught that stabbing someone in the inner thigh #can bleed them out in seconds #or you can throat chop someone and crush their windpipe and make them basically suffocate #humans are so fragile man it's kind of terrifying #anyways. basically what i am saying is that all cybertronians by default are superhumans in terms of athletic ability and stamina #but like beyond superhuman because machines work in a completely different way than organics do #machines can hypothetically run forever as long as they're given fuel but organics just can't do that

…Thinking about an au where Tim gets leitnered into a cat and Elias ‘coincidentally’ walks in just as Jon is like petting him and shushing him because oh no! This poor cat is so obviously distressed! And like Tim would find this cute and tease him over it under any other circumstance but seeing as he’s the cat and would very much like to become a person again it is kinda annoying! And then Elias is like ‘is that a cat, Jon?’ And Jon gets all flustered is like ‘ah-uh-yes, someone must have let it in… I-‘ and Elias just cuts him off and insists on taking is outside and Jon wants to prove he can be responsible by doing it himself but Elias refuses and takes cat Tim and Tim doesn’t really like him and he doesn’t seem to know anything cause this is s1 so he’s scratching and biting but Elias just won’t let him go and…he’s not actually taking him outside?

And so Elias just brings him up his office and is like “well this is quite the predicament you’ve gotten yourself into mr stoker” and then they spend the rest of the day trying to figure out how to reverse it with Tim getting to be all cuddled up to Elias and being pet.
