i have some opinion about f/f fics... i watched few episode of house of dragons and Alicent / Rhaenyra shown as friends in the same age and both of their mother died so their kinda close and at first it was quite popular but later on ofc story changed their relationship and ship kinda become infamous... the amount of hate this ship gets is so unreal... i dont even know what it is... even when u make a silly joke about them having sexual tension or whatever the fandom takes it so seriously like i never seen that with mlm ships

it's internalized misogyny and just straight up bullying within female dominated spaces anon, and I really do roll my eyes at all the self proclaimed sapphics who insist that f/f ships just don't have the same fandoms as m/m.

first off, depending on the show, if more straight women are watching it than men or wlw, then yes.

straight women will gravitate towards straight or gay ships. they're attracted to men, and they make up the majority of the population. I'm sorry, but the truth is not always what we'd like to hear.

but also there are plenty of goddamn wlw ships that do real well here.

because if it's well written or at least has a great capacity for juicy interpretations, then the fandom will only grow.

and the toxicity over f/f ships... well that doesn't help at all.

there's like this pedestal too, that female characters have to rest on, and if they are genuinely bad people, they get shit on by everyone, not just misogynistic men or straight women, but by sapphics too.

I honestly think that the main problem with a lot of f/f spaces is just a spillover symptom from misogyny in fandom in general.

You arch your eyebrows and crack a small smile, he widens his eyes afraid he said something wrong. "But not in a possessive way, dammit, that sounded like an asshole, right? I was trying to be cute. Nevermind."

He rests his face in one of his hands, his grimace showing that he is upset about the whole situation. You get up and sit down next to him, he watches your every move with his eyes.

Quick Review of Hirogaru Sky Precure! CURE WING IS EVERYTHING!

As said, with Tumblr being a butt with allowing my reviews to show up in tags, I haven't done much reviews. I've been writing the review for Delicious Party Precure. I've just been super busy with other things and my anxiety had been for a while so haven't been in the mood but now with Cure Wing out, I feel like I should give my thoughts on the new series so far!

I feel like this has been a solid series so far. At first, I wasn't too won over in the first episode, even though Cure Sky/Sora is a power house and I relate to her in some ways, I wasn't buying it too much until we dove into more of Mashiro/Cure Prims, who up until now I gravitated towards but now that we have the BOY, wow!

Please note, I haven't watched episode 9 yet but I did see Cure Wing's transformation and attack and it is everything!

But before that, there are some stuff I wanted to get to. I like how this series as Leo from Magical Cinnamon Channel on Youtube has said, connects everything very neatly. Like how in episode 8 Mashiro explains that the kids were worried about Sora because she wasn't at school and everyone knows she's healthy and strong. I like how they try to give us a few twists and turns with certain scenarios we maybe familiar with. Like for one, our lead cure is not only a blue cure instead of a pink cure, but she's from another land and Mashiro is a Skylandian as well or at least descendant from one. We have a fairy turned cure that not only isn't the midseason cure but he's also the first male cure of the main team.

The animation is probably the best animation we've seen since probably in a while. I didn't hate Delicious Party Precure nor Healin Good Precure but in terms of animation, they really brought their A game with this one!

Sora I like okay, but maybe that's because she reminds me a bit of me that I think I don't gravitate to her as much. I mean, something about characters reminding me of myself too much has always been something off to me but I don't find her a bad character and she certainly is more interesting than any blue cure that came before her.

Mashiro is a great foil to Sora. She's not really the shy cute type and that's what makes her a great character. She seems one thing but she's also energetic without being a "Happy Go Lucky Type" or a "Shy Type". I like how she's logical too. She has common sense and brings everyone back down to earth!

Yoyo is also a nice little add as the mysterious grandmother but I'm glad she's doesn't know everything. I wasn't sure how I felt with her seemingly to know everything but when she shows legit concern, it comes across as natural and I started to like her more.

Ageha, I wasn't too sure of but she grew on me and I like the fact that she's kind of diva in which she can be bossy, but she's also understanding, supportive and ready to help. I was worried that she was gonna be another snob when we first got a look at her as Cure Butterfly but she's not and I'm glad.

And then of course, we have Tsubasa and he is everything! He's sweet, he's smart, he's shy but knows when it's time to speak up. He has a dream that is relatable in which wanting to achieve something but people make fun of you for it, but I like how his dream is a little more on the down to earth side. Not that we didn't have cures with realistic dreams, but I like how he actually learns a bit of the science about how to fly. I feel like we've seen cures achieve dreams but not really explain the details about those dreams like the overall work put in it. Maybe we have and I just don't remember.

I hate the fact people make fun of Tsubasa's hair! Like seriously! I honestly think it makes him look unique. The hair piece on top makes sense especially considering some birds have feathered crowns which seems to represent that in Cure Wing! I also think the emo thing makes him look different and honestly, may represent him as a character. I mean most people who do the emo thing are outcasts and he certainly is that among his tribe, he's the only fairy so far in his season to transform and most of all, he's the first male cure of a main team and the only boy in his group. I even think that his hair may even represent a "broken wing" because he felt useless not being able to fly, only for "his wing to be repaired" once he becomes Cure Wing, this that part of his hair goes up when he transforms.

Elle Chan is okay. She's a baby and not much to her but I did get get misty eyed when she was missing her parents.

Now the I wouldn't say bad parts but yeah I don't like Kabaton. I think they were trying to do a "Close" type thing but make him more goofy so he didn't scare kids and he just doesn't do it for me. If you like him and many do, more power to you. I guess it makes sense cuz I thought he was saying "Underdog energy" when I realize he means "Under ground energy". So pigs are earthy creatures and he's an underdog because he's a punk but yeah...Not the best. I do like it when the cures literally tell him to shut up and stop hogging the screen time, that self awareness is beautiful! XD

Overall, I think this series is solid so far and may join the ranks among the best precure seasons if continues working like this. The animation is beautiful and stellar, sometimes the story is slow in some parts but overall, the music is solid and the characters are well likeable with the exception of a weak first henchman. I won't give it a rating just yet! We'll see how it goes!

So like at 12 years old I used to be a major and I mean MAJOR Zane fangirl. Zane Ro'Meave was my everything as a kid frfr like I would deadass defend his every action when I was 12. Like even in his MCD form you best bet that 12 year old me was using their every waking breath to stand up for Zane. I would see someone make a valid point about Zane being a dickhole for killing Jeffory and I guarantee you my 12 year old self would still try to find a way to defend Zane. That's just how much I was fucking in love with him bro. This man's straight up shaped my whole personality as a kid because his existence is why my main persona/online alias is Zana. Deadass before I gave her a heavy revamp, my persona was straight up just a female version of Zane 💀 And I always find it kind of funny because I created her long before we got canon genderbents so like... Jess you copying me gurl??/j Anyways, I was such a Zane fangirl that I even cut my bangs at 12 to try to look similar to him. I had wannabe emo bangs in 6th grade because of this fucker. He ruined my life I tell you. I never technically got rid of them either, I just let them grow to be the same length as the rest of my hair. No one in the present day will ever know about it but I will always remember. It's a memory of my middle school days that will never leave me.

And then there's the dramatic irony that after rewatching MCD and Mystreet now, Zane is no longer my number one fave anymore. It's fucking Dante now. Of course I will always love Zane, that bastard clearly holds a special place in my heart. But ultimately, Dante did in fact steal Zane's place as my number one favorite Aphverse character. He pushed Zane off the goddamn podium and snatched up the first place medal for himself. And I have no problem with that. But I just know my 12 year old self would be in pure shock if they saw that I ditched Zane for Dante lmao. Yet at the same time, I can't help but look at this in a poetic sense.

As a child I know I had such an attachment to Zane because I related a lot to him with being that person that was kinda seen as weird because I was quiet and wasn't a social person. I also had a few friends like Zane but just like him, I met some of them through a single friend that interacted with me first cuz I was far too socially awkward to speak to literally anyone. But now that I'm older, I don't really relate to Zane anymore. I'm not a full on social butterfly but back when I was 12, I couldn't even talk to people my own age that weren't friends because of my shyness and socially awkward personality. But now I'm not like that anymore. I would still say I'm a quiet person ofc but nowadays I don't freeze up and immediately get awkward when people I don't really know try talking to me. Sometimes it can still happen but I just don't really do that anymore. I don't think I actively made this choice though it just sorta happened. Growing up will just do that to you I guess lmao. And that's probably why I don't relate to Zane as much anymore and have now gravitated towards Dante. I grew up and now I find myself being more attached and sorta relating to Dante way more now than Zane. Zane's still cool to me but he's just not my fave anymore because I'm not the same person I was when I was 12.

That got way more deep than I was actually expecting lol. But I still stand by my point regardless. Zane was a huge comfort to 12 year old me but not anymore. I still love his character but he just doesn't bring me that same comfort like he did when I was 12 because I don't need that type of comfort anymore. Dante however is my new comfort character probably because I relate to him more now than I did as a kid. I barely paid attention to Dante when I was 12 but look at me now. He's all I ever seem to post about on this blog lmao. Honestly, seeing myself go from having Zane as comfort character in the past to now having Dante as my comfort character kinda brings me a peace of mind because I think it truly represents all the healing I've done over these past years. Even if it is a little silly to think about it in a deep and poetic fashion like this but I don't really care, thinking about this topic just brings me this sort of warmness I don't really know how to explain. I feel like maybe some people will understand what I'm trying to get it. Hopefully. I feel so odd as far as liking Loki goes because I like him as a villain so I don’t fit with his fans who collectively woobify him. No he was definitely a bad guy.

This is just me yelling into the void about shit I used to care about- more under the cut

Do I think Loki made up for killing a bunch of people by admitting he loved his brother? Nah! Is possible for villains to change their point of view? Yes! Loki couldn't redeem himself for the things he did in Avengers I think he just changed his mind on who he wanted to be.

Loki isn’t even the first bad guy to rethink his choices it’s pretty common. I wouldn’t classify him as a hero or a anti-hero though. IDK what to call him really. More like he just went “oh yeah that was wild LOL let me not do that anymore.” That’s honestly fine. I think it’s a unique and unintentionally funny character arc.

Taika deciding to humiliate the character to boost up Thor’s popularity was unnecessary IMO. Loki just has a character archetype people gravitate towards. Emo, violent, daddy issues, no friends, whoa is me, (black hair? LOL?)

They will always get people trying to make excuses for them it is what it is. And I do think these characters do add to the story even if I think fandoms babying them is lame and weird.

I feel like what Aang and T'challa have over Stefan and Thor is their writing. I feel like Stefan wasn't different enough from Damon to earn his " good brother" label and it felt like gaslighting every time it was pushed by the narrative. He was a whole serial killer??? With Thor it always felt like the writers weren't that interested in trying to flesh him out. His personality changes depending on what movie he's in. It's unfortunate because Chris is really charming and Thor has plenty of fans. I blame the messy inconsistency.

Marvel leaned into how funny Chris is but couldn’t decide if Thor was a joke or not. They couldn't find the balance and I think that hurt his character, not Loki.

Loki isn’t doing great character-wise now anyway. He was a side character on his show and no longer feels powerful enough to really do anything that matters. They are both down bad IMO.

Wow I haven’t rambled about anything to do with Marvel in years. Just feel like the ball was dropped with every character in Thor’s story. You find yourself needing to ruin one character to prop another one up then you're a bad writer. All your characters should be good.

Oh gosh, hm... rouge doesn't strike me as the type of person to go out and purposefully get an animal, but I bet they would adopt HER. shadow fosters chao and cats, and after a few days they always gravitate towards her. Rouge tells them to leave. They do not. She's just too calm and comfy, making her the perfect person to forcibly cuddle for hours on end hehe

team dark: omg.. okay so I kinda think both shadow and omega would be the type to listen to EVERYTHING, they just love music in general! but rouge is more picky, she's mostly into classic rock from like the 80s/90s so that's a lot of what they all listen to! Rouge almost always has the radio playing when she's cooking, shadow purposefully tries to switch it to songs that annoy her but she ends up getting him hooked on bon jovi. omega doesn't sing much but he likes to sit with shadow and jam out to whatever band they're both into at the moment

sonic: this kid listens to vocaloid and you can't convince me otherwise.

tails: i think I've been on tumblr too much but the idea of Tails enjoying stuff like Nine Inch Nails is one of my favorites :3 especially him bonding with Shadow over it!

You're basically analyzing Granblue Fantasy and A3 and coming up with theories and interpretations based on what's in the text and what's implied and what that could mean for the future and how that informs their character, y'know. The power was inside of you all along.

and thank you 🥺 I do love analyzing stuff in general, like, this is how my brain works, i really take pleasure doing those things and everything

but honestly it's really just a question of lack of confidence. Like i constantly second guess myself and doubt my own analysis as in, what if i missed a crucial element? what if i'm letting my bias get in the way of a proper analysis? (despite the fact that there is such a thing as analyzing the text for what the author meant vs for what it meant to the character vs how it is received by the audience, so there's value in bias, but still). What if i completely missed the point, what if those others analysis i disagree with are actually correct and it's me blinding myself? type of things.

it's just that i always do my best to remove any showcase of doubt from my analysis when i post them unless it's something that comes less from lack of confidence and more from seeing different possible interpretations. Esp on my blog where it's generally something i write for myself and i try to allow myself to not be this critical, as a treat.

But i'm genuinely always doubting because of lack of confidence, you have no idea the amount of relief i get when i see people finding value with the angles i explore and everything. I'm honestly much more stressed about that that i let it on ALKDLKFJDLFK (i try to believe in "fake it until you make it" when confidence goes but i'm at a point where i'm faking "fake it until you make it" hoping i get to make it one day)

And also it's easier to have people who gravitate toward similar ideas than me agree on my blog in general, since well, I'd say people come to read me because they already have those affinities to start with, so it makes the bias thing even more something i end up doubting.

(and also it doesn't help that as far as my family is concerned they tend to belittle the way i approach analysis in general to downright calling me stupid for those so i'm DLKJFDLKFJ constantly expecting the worst)

So having a teacher, someone specialized in that field, actually review my analysis process on something i don't have a strong bias about, on something that's pure analysis of text rather than feelings outright, is probably the most unbiased and neutral view of my process and that the compliment was this strong just makes me so emo.

And honestly i'm also relieved she told me that feedback as the exam ended (she also told me usually they ask the students question after the exam to see if they really understood the text but she skipped it for me because i clearly got it, apparently), bc else i think i would have ended up overthinking myself into another panic on how i talked pure nonsense or something.

But aaah still, thank you so so much for the sweet words anon, it genuinely makes me happy that you think so!! i'm just a bundle of stress and it's a relief to get some words of affirmation like that 😭

Oh, like you, Anon, I too worship at the Altar of Angst.

While I'm paying my respects at said altar, throw me some hurt/comfort; a meaty slow burn; time-honoured 'enemies to lovers'; great humour; bromance; intimate m/m slashy goodness with some raw yang energy and I'm all but singing Hozier's "Take me to Church."

As for why? Well, combine all those things together and for me it creates a rich and dynamic experience I can really sink my teeth into. Sure, PWP can be fun, a quick-hit pick-me-up...but it often leaves me jonesing for the stronger stuff. Because I do love layered intimacy in the fics I read, especially with the m/m slash pairings. The edge of vulnerability that never loses its capacity to turn, like a blade, from smooth steel to the razor’s edge...then back again...

From something as intimate as this...

...to this....

....to this....

I especially gravitate towards such a dynamic when reading my m/m pairings. And you'll probably notice most of these pairings (90%) are with warrior/soldier archetypes.

They are my sweet remedial poison.

As for the altar, there's something about the angst that nourishes me. And ruins me. I'm pretty sure there's some eloquent quote about that delicious interplay and the feeling it evokes. Don't get me wrong, I hate when things slide into emo-depresso mode. There's a difference between depth and darkness. I like the deep. Doesn't always have to be dark.

2. Do you have any sort of process when it comes to developing a character, or getting into the characters head? What does that look like?

It looks like headphones on, eyes closed (or vacant stare, ha, either works as I zone out)....and total immersion into the character. Obviously this varies depending on whether I am tackling an OC or whether I'm writing fanfic. The former is a hell of a lot more immersive for me. The latter involves getting into their established trivia/meat and digging under their skin. OCs require a whole different level of madness from me. I need to get in their bones and their blood...and yeah, I realise how sadomasochistic I'm sounding right about now. But it's true. Unless I have a physical ache in my body where my OCs carry their wounds, their ghosts, or their shadows, I'm not satisfied I can do them justice on the page. So yeah, certifiable processes are required for me to channel that. 🤪

3. I see those merlin gifs you be posting, is that new? Tell me why you love them Rayne. ❤️

Because I never expected to. I literally went into this show for the mindlessness of old-school, corny-as-hell escapism -- I did not expect to fall for the characters

Because I love the sudden unguarded ways they will look at each other -- even if the writers are playing to the fanbase ;)

I love what they bring out in each other

I love what they challenge in each other

I ache for the tragedy and secrets surrounding them

I adore the loyalty they exhibit; Merlin's devotion and Arthur's protectiveness...it belies the arrogant neglectful way Arthur behaves and hits on his deeper nature, beneath the princely surface

I love Merlin's depth of feeling in all things (seriously, this actor draws me in with his capacity to convey emotion without a damn word) and how his sensitivity does not in any way diminish his strength -- the secrets he has to keep from Arthur are heart-rending at times

I love how hard Arthur clings to his pride and arrogance whilst his vulnerability often betrays him; in his eyes, his sudden rough humour, or in his unconscious actions.

Their banter is good fun; especially the re-direct when things get too intimate or familiar, namely for Arthur.

I love their integrity as people and how that integrity causes them to infuriate one another yet also how it cements them closer together

...I'm sure there are more reasons. I'm not yet finished with the series...so there will undoubtedly be more.

Look at that gushy list. You can tell I'm swimming in the feels of these two at the moment.

For the character bingo: Matsumoto and Kira!

IZURU KIRA

They are sooooooo cool looking and Why do they look like that:

I can say this about almost every character Kubo created, the man just knows how to make characters look cool and different (even if he sometimes has a bit of 'same face syndrome' going on with a few characters). Kira's got a great design that's both simplistic (in terms of colour choices) but also dynamic (have SEEN his hair?! That fringe is so pointy it could probably cut paper and so emo his fascination with the macabre and depressing doesn't need to be said, it's right there in the hairdo). Where the 'why do they look like that' comes is the eyebrows...They're a mystery to me and one of the more unique designs Kubo came with, so there's that!

Wasted potential: like with a few other characters in the series, I really feel like seeing his recovery journey more in the manga was a missed opportunity. Also, the fact he got shelved pretty early on in the TYBW arc was one of the few things I didn't like about the arc. However, it was somewhat made up for when he emerged later to fight the Lillie bird clones (or as I like to call them 'chicken Lillies'). Also, as part of his BROT3 with Renji and Momo, we could have gotten so much more!

If they were real I would be afraid of them: this gets explained more below in the 'free space' section.

They work better as part of a dynamic: Izuru is a great character by himself and I've come to appreciate him as an individual character more and more over the years, but I first liked him as part of the BROT3 with Renji and Momo.

Free space - has that one badass scene that makes me completely reevaluate them: In Kira's case, it was when he emerged to fight the chicken Lillies. Kubo just knows how to make things look cool and badass, and this panel, this GLORIOUS, BADASS PANEL, made me reevaluate how I felt about the character:

Look at this! I was caught between being afraid and totally in awe of Izuru here. He's like a zombie risen from the dead, a fearsome entity that won't die and has a weapon that suits him so well here. If that was Kubo's goal he succeeded with flying colours. Then later I thought about what his life will be like from now. Will he always have a hole and rods in his chest? Is he going to be properly healed after the war? What are Momo and Renji going to think? It made me appreciate their friendship even more, but also see the tradgey behind Izuru. The betrayal of his captain hit differently for him. Gin wasn't close to a lot of people and creeped out most, but he seemed to have a spot somewhere in him for Izuru (I don't want to say a 'soft spot' because I don't think it accurately describes how he saw and felt about his former lieutenant)

RANGIKU MATSUMOTO

They are sooooooo cool looking:

I know the manga and anime have different colour schemes for Matsumoto, but I'm not gonna lie...I like the anime's colour scheme better. Don't get me wrong, the canon colour scheme of blonde hair and blue eyes is great, but I first saw Rangiku through the anime and I guess it's the design I gravitate towards for that reason. Aside from that, Kubo once again knows how to make character look cool. Rangiku can be the comic relief one moment, and the next she can get serious; her design really lends well to both sides of her. For me, she's one of the most beautiful looking characters in BLEACH, and I love how Kubo revealed her character through how she wears her uniform (no I'm not just talking about her cleavage (which I think shows her confidence in her appearance), but in how she wears her lieutenant's badge , how she ties her obi, and of course the scarf and necklace which without she would not be the same character).

They're like a blorbo to me: she's in my top 10 characters for the series, so yeah!

They're deeper than they seem: I like that more and more fans are coming to see the layers in Rangiku character, because she definitely has a lot going on for her throughout the series. This depth is perfectly summarized by this post by @iz-star and I honestly couldn't have said it better myself.

They work better as part of a dynamic: Rangiku as an individual character is fantastic, but her dynamic with Toshiro is one of the most memorable parts of BLEACH for me. It's what steered me away from having not the best first impression of her to realising there was a lot more to her than met the eye. We're able to see the comical side of Rangiku just as much as the serious to side her through this dynamic, as well as the sisterly role she plays for some of the character.s Also, they just work SO WELL together and balance each other out perfectly, they're the best captain-lieutenant dynamic in the whole series for me. Also, I may not like it as much as I used to (mainly because I think if Gin had lived it wouldn't have worked) but Ginran is a fascinating and tragic dynamic; it's where more layers of Rangiku's are revealed and how she (as someone who seems to be there for everyone to support and help them through struggles) deals the betrayal of someone who, even though she was growing distant from, she still considered important in her life (to point of loving them).

Free space - a bad first impression: more on that here, but yeah, when I first saw Rangiku I wasn't a fan. As the Soul Society arc went on though, I gradually warmed to her, and in time became one of my favourite characters in the series.

Favorite projects!

Let's see. One of my favorite projects to work on is Second Chances, which has immense personal meaning to me. But I'm always a little worried if I let other people read it, they'll just to think I'm a complete freak ahahahaha

I really like Laero because I love the characters! Sometimes working on that one in the past actually has made me cry though, because the main character struggles with depression in a way that hits very close to home. Unfortunately, as much as I love the characters the story needs a ton of work which I have not worked up the strength to do yet, but I have always wanted to make the story work and I will do it someday.

I really like Coyote Song even though it's incredibly pretentious, basically unreadable, and possibly even unsalvageable? But I had so much fun writing it at the time even though it's bad.

I also generally find Miracles very fun to work on :3

Character types and themes!

I love fairy tales. Fairy tale tropes, set ups, and themes show up in my work all the time. I especially love selkies and swan maidens and Beauty and the Beast, so my work involves a lot of shapeshifters. But there's generally just fairy tale references everywhere in everything that I write. Also, I love storytelling in general and so very often my characters will spend time in stories telling legends and fairy tales and ghost stories to each other because that's such a human thing to me and I just love including it. (Also when they do, the stories usually end up having something to do with the plot literally or symbolically~)

As for character types, I think I have four that I love the most.

But if we want to go with the standard raptor/big cat set up and I could pick anything, I would go with a laughing falcon and a snow leopard~

Thoughts/theories on the boys:

Short in stature but big in personality, Scotty’s a fast-talking teenage entrepreneur from the Florida panhandle who dreams of making the Forbes 400 list one day. And by his side always, both in life and on the island, is his best friend Bo.

I think Scotty's a parallel to Toni, but I don't see any mention of anger issues in his description... maybe they have another "flaw" planned for his character. The big dreams make me feel like he'll get along with Kirin easier than Toni with Rachel. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing his friendship with Bo. Will they make him openly gay like Toni?

Bo is a soft-spoken, contemplative teenager, also from the Florida panhandle. He has a naively optimistic outlook on life, despite a difficult upbringing, and he’d gladly lie down in the street for his best friend Scotty. His loyalty knows almost no bounds.

I think that Bo is a parallel to Martha, and I'm really excited to see a male character with a softer personality!!! Also, interesting that they say that his loyalty knows no bounds, while that was mentioned for Toni in the promotion for the girls.

The opposite of his personable stepbrother Seth, Henry is an emo reclusive type who prefers to retreat into the safety of his noise-canceling headphones and dwell on the darkness in the world.

Henry's a parallel to Leah? an interesting choice, curious to see how the relationship between the stepbrothers works out. It would be interesting if they make him the one who figures things out (if any of the boys even figure stuff out?). He also sounds a bit like Nora...

Seth Novak, who is naturally funny, Ivy-League smart, and full of charisma. Though he doesn’t necessarily aspire to a leadership role, Seth’s steadiness and sense of humor win him the respect and loyalty of the others, except for his step-brother Henry who clearly has issues with him.

Seth seems a parallel to Shelby, the rich and successful white boy (with more issues than meets the eye I'm assuming). It'll be interesting to see the stepbrothers and their relationship (especially seeing as they are parallels to Leah and Shelby, but feel more like a parallel to Shelby and Toni in a platonic way). Although he does have some traits similar to Dot....

Josh Herbert, a talkative, hypochondriacal teenager from a wealthy family in San Diego. Unlike the rest of his athletic, tennis-playing family, Josh is an awkward, nervous type who takes a number of homeopathic supplements to handle his chronic stress.

I think that Josh is a parallel to Nora, and I just know I'll love this character. Very interested in his backstory! Especially since it seems like he'll be the odd one out in his family (like Rachel) and how that will affect his place in the group. He's talkative, which isn't like Nora, but it'll be fun to see the different take on an awkward and nervous character.

Rafael Garcia, a quiet, sensitive teenager who lives in Tijuana but attends high school in San Diego. Straddling two worlds has made it difficult to get a clear and certain sense of himself, so he gravitates toward people with stronger, more charismatic personalities than his own.

Rafael seems a parallel to Dot, especially looking at the "caught between two worlds" bit and also taking in account that Dot lost her sense of self while taking care of her dad. I don't think they'll have him take care of a parent, but that they'll instead find another backstory (but if they have him take care of a parent, it would be really cool to see the differences!). The lack of a clear and certain sense of himself and being sensitive also sounds a bit like Shelby...

Ivan Taylor, an activist and aspiring playwright with an impeccable fashion sense and a razor-sharp wit. But his words can be cutting, sometimes too deeply, which has cost him friends along the way.

I think that Ivan is a clear parallel to Fatin, and I'm excited to see what they'll give him as a backstory! Also the "cost him friends" makes me feel like there'll be a similar fall out as Leah with Fatin, but I'm also curious about what his backstory will entail.

Kirin O’Conner, a short-tempered lacrosse player who doesn’t have much patience for weakness. Among the castaways, he’s ready and willing to take the lead first, though his hot-headed approach might not appeal to everyone.

Kirin definitely seems like a parallel to Rachel, so I'm curious to see how that turns out. I hope they give him a similar backstory as her, it would be interesting to see a male character with ED. The hotheaded approach also sounds a bit like Toni...

I find myself frequently revisiting 920london because the characters are written at just the right approximation between a sketch of knowable thoughts, feelings and philosophies and a coherently fleshed out human caught in the momentum of a developing narrative. the more you look the more you see - or perhaps it would be more honest to say that the story takes on an optical illusion like quality. we only ever do see fractals of Hana and Kiki’s lives, and much of their history together is left up to interpretation beyond the fact that they used to date. trying to look for an objective answer to if the end of the world is actually coming, or if Hana and Kiki are going to be able to stay together detracts from experiencing the perpetual aimlessness and stagnancy that actually constitutes the characters realities. its a very effective mood piece.

I get Hana. It’s difficult for me not to find her relatable considering that she’s the more responsible one of the duo (while also having slight chuuni loner qualities). her tendency to draw the reasons for doing what she does (or does not do) out of seeing death as something inevitable is something that I think most freshly made ex-adolescents can relate to. her fatalism also makes her fixation on mushrooms interesting as well, seeing as it is born both from them being one of her few reasons for living while also a symbolic end of the world for her. when you believe that suicide or catastrophe is inevitable, you don’t need to change. she is (presumably) not in college like Kiki is because she sees the inevitable end of the world as nullifying any gain in that pursuit, and clearly sees the stability that Kiki’s friendship gives her as enough. she accepts Kiki’s more volatile moods in the same way she finds herself gravitating towards thoughts of grand death and destruction in order to feel the most human. when Kiki asks her what she is going to do when she graduates and moves away, it’s only then that she snaps back to reality and realizes how small her life is.

I love Kiki. Kiki does a good job at reminding the reader that Yes This Comic Takes Place In The 2000s. If you weren’t a city emo then you probably know someone like Kiki. Kiki will repeatedly insist that she is going to be an important person one day, but in the end of all her pursuits is still drawn back to Hana. it’s through a lot of Kiki’s action that you see that her and Hana are drawn together due to history and circumstance more than anything else. who knows how to deal with Kiki’s moods better than Hana? who knows what to say when Hana begins to catastrophize more than Kiki? neither directly acknowledges what one means to the other, but they always know what to do when the other needs it; and yet, their relationship feels like it is at a perpetual crossroads. anyway those are my thoughts on furry comic 920london.

OoT/MM, TP, and BotW Link are my favorites so these apply to all of them unless stated otherwise. I got a little carried away 😅

* Again, he's always a bi enby to me, but more specifically agender. He leans towards a slightly masculine expression, but is also super comfortable presenting femininely. He just wants to be pretty tbh. The only exception to this is SS Link who is cishet. Those ugly khaki parachute pants scream dumb straight boy unfortunately :c

* He's tiny. Very short and rail thin. OoT Link is the tallest of the bunch, standing at a whopping 5'6"

* Selectively-mute, especially when stressed. Has a soft voice otherwise and is pretty good at singing/humming/whistling a tune

* Permanent resting bitch face, but an absolute sweetheart beneath

* Animals naturally trust and gravitate to him (BotW Zelda obviously abuses this power for her research)

* Actually quite sensitive, but bottles that shit right up. Eventually has a massive breakdown where he suddenly feels e v e r y t h i n g and it is a bad time.

* A horse girl, a cat dad, and an emo cowboy all-in-one

* Stinky, but it isn't so bad. He just smells earthy.

* TP Link was a vegetarian (and occasional pescatarian) pre-game, but post-game has a horrible craving for meat. He, of course, feels guilty about it.

* Cremia gives OoT/MM Link his first hug when he's eleven. He's so touch-starved that he has no idea what's even happening, but gets v emotional and absolutely craves affection after. I had an idea for a oneshot where he falls into an obsessive time loop just to get hugged again and again, but given the gross undertones of the original scene (the reason I have this hc in the first place), it will forever stay in my head.

* BotW Link keeps his hair long because playing with it calms his anxiety. Zelda knows this and offers to brush/braid/play with it to help. When he can't sleep, he cuddles into her chest and she threads her fingers up the nape of his neck and slowly scratches. He falls asleep in a minute.

* His hair also gets slightly poofier/frizzier when he sleeps. It's v cute.

* I really loathe the way a lot of characters have a crush on Link. There is just no way stinky feral twink is everyone's type. So, I headcanon that since Hylia is partially responsible for his reincarnation, she takes his best traits and forms him in her image. Hylia's most devout would then be more susceptible to falling for him because they'd see him through her lens, like through the eyes of a lover. I touched on this briefly in Homebound, but I love the idea that Zelda thinks this too and so when she starts having a crush on him, she's like, "I don't actually like him. It's obviously a sign I'm getting closer to Hylia." Makes me giggle.

* And finally, the first time BotW Zelda kisses Link (because of course she initiates), he can't talk for the rest of the day. The first time she kisses him with tongue, he can't talk for a week.

1 . So I dance. A lot. I’m no professional but I’ve danced Bachata for like 3 years now and am staff in a local dance club. I also dance Zouk which I doubt anyone here knows of and it’s hella fun. It started out with my friend hooking me in and riling up two other friends of mine, though stuff happened and now I’m on my own lol. Apparently I was always good at it, just took the right thing to get myself invested in.

2 . Unlike mostly everyone else in this stupid country, I never had a minute to rest during quarantines. I have military training as a combat medic and, when the first outbreak hit, I was immediately enlisted as a medic to deal with corona panic. This repeated every quarantine period we had here. I was unemployed at the time so that was a nice source of income tbh ~

3 . I’m vegan. So I practically live off eating grass and committing photosynthesis. Mmmm, sunlight.

So I’ve been roleplaying on forum RPs for the longest time. Since I was 13-14, which makes it... 14 years now. I’ve roleplayed almost exclusively on Animanga RPs since that’s my preference tbh. I’ve had experience with combat RP, romance, adventure and just general plot-driven stuff too. So Tumblr was new to me when it came around at 2014. My first blog was an Uryu Ishida in a closed Bleach RP group, and my first indie subsequently too. Though I switched names and some of you may know me as Cricket. Ultimately my longest-running blog was a Smoker RP blog from One Piece. And now here I am!

I almost exclusively play dudes. I’ve had female muses before but I’m mostly uncomfortable writing them. I also almost always played canon characters given the chance. Having no personality means I can easily insert myself in a canon’s mindset - and dare I say, I’m good at it. My preferences in characters however, seems to gravitate towards the kinds most don’t notice immediately. I usually don’t like fan-favorites and somehow end up taking... Well, idiots.

Humor. Oh my god, humor threads. Are so criminally underrated. I’m not talking crack or modern-day humor, I’m talking good-old Shinigami Illustration Book stupidity. Give me the opportunity to make you laugh with my muses’ actions and I will get so invested it’s not even funny (pun intended). Screw angsty emo kids, show me your emo kid annoyed at not being able to brood. I’ll take that any day!

Romance. Hello, I’m Red, and I’m a huge sucker for romance and shipping. I thrive off all the disgustingly cutesy stuff between two muses. From establishment to progress to encountering issues and solving them and the smallest things in like, 3 PM Saturday afternoon sitting together at the apartment listening to music on speaker. I mean of course it depends on the muse, but wow do I love my tackyness.

Fluff. I am a stern believer that angst needs a reason to happen. Fluff, or just idle day-to-day, being the norm. Reason is, most of the time I can have muses interact with other muses they never got the chance to (especially true if it’s canon muses). The best thing about it is that fluff can easily develop into angst, and depending on muse and verse, can evolve into fight threads, which I also very much miss. Speaking of which --

Combat. I’m not the best writer when it comes to combat, but I can’t help but appreciate a good fight. The tension of two muses that can actually square off, doing just that; for whatever reason. In popular fandoms, I’m honestly shocked that I barely see this kind of genre played out. We all have superpowered muses, but nobody cares to use it. So why not let loose?

I love both. Memes are awesome when you’re having brainfarts and can’t figure out proper muse at the time, but plotting can get you to so deep levels of muse exploration you just can’t pass it up. Memes are also inherently flawed in providing a mixed bag, which can be either underwhelming, satisfactory or fucking amazing in potential response. I think overall, I’d take plotting over memes.
