just finished dead silence by s. a. barnes! it was good! fast-paced space horror/psych thriller with a side of near-future capitalism-is-bad. 3.5/5 i think it was enjoyable but didnt wow me but it was a Exactly what i was wanting out of it.

ALSO. the cover says "a ghost ship / a salvage crew / unspeakable horrors" but theyre NOT salvage crew theyre a comms station maintenance crew!!! VERY different.

the rest of this has minor spoilers (overarching concept but not plot events) so ill chuck it under a read more.

mc is a repair ship captain working for a megacorp (though there are other companies out there so its not quite the usual "only one megacorp" scifi conceit), she and her team find the space-titanic and try to figure out how everyone died.

they start hallucinating once on board due to [plot reason i shant spoil but DID call very gleefully at the first hint about a quarter of the way thru the book] and Events Happen and crewmates die, she ends up on an escape pod but she cant rmb how and then winds up back with the megacorp and then on another recovery trip to the ship with them.

the mc deals with it generally better than her crewmates bc she has dealt with hallucinations her whole life, which i *think* was handled mostly respectfully, but also its unclear narratively if she can just straight up see ghosts? possibly both as well. but its smth ur sensitive to it may be smth to keep in mind bc the entire book pretty much is spent with her experiencing psychosis to one degree or another, exacerbated extremely on the ship by [plot device].

the narrative also jumps back and forth between the time on the ship and "now," where shes institutionalized briefly by the megacorp she works for before she goes back with them to the ship, so heads up for that too.

im trying to figure out what i like in non-fantasy books (yeah yeah this is scifi horror i Know but) and i like any book thats a puzzle i think, i like finding answers and putting the pieces together, so this one was fun bc i knew what was going on and could just slot the pieces into place.

now hear me out,,, an au where lan wangji is an editor who works for an erotica publisher and wei wuxian is essentially chuck tingle. (also lwj writes romance novels on the side)

anyway they’re sitting there, eating their hangover food and wei wuxian goes so uh my story was good right? and nhs is like yeah it was, top stuff i would buy it and wei wuxian goes what if i actually wrote it,,, haha just kidding,,,,, unless?

and in his defence he doesn’t actually write anything for the story for another like three months but then he finds himself in the middle of exam season and he’s like fuck it stress relief let’s write some erotica

he finishes the book and his exams (which he does well in but whatever) and then spends his summer holidays editing the book

when he comes back, he slaps down a paper copy on nhs’ desk and is like i finished it. nhs, thinking he meant his latest lab write up, opens it up to a random page and starts reading it out loud which was a Mistake

he trails off mid-sentence, and whips around to glare at wwx with all the wrath he can muster. it’s raunchy nhs says and just read it wwx tells him so nhs does

like 2 hours later nhs turns to him and says if it wasnt for you and the librarian staring at me the whole time i definitely would’ve felt something and wwx is like so it’s good? and nhs is like fuck yeah it is but i dont get what you want from me?

pretty much wwx passed out after exams, slept for like 20 hours and then woke up and went i should publish this and decided that nhs should draw the cover art.

wwx blusters about a bit bc how is he meant to respond to that and nhs is like maybe you’ll finally move on from reading those trashy romance novels and read something more exciting and wwx is like how dare you call them trashy!! hanguang-jun is a master of the romance novels!! he understands the heart in a way that no other person has ever!! 

and nhs just chugs a bunch of wine and is like yeah hon okay, do you still blush when the main characters hold hands? and wwx is like no! of course not! (it’s a lie, he blushes a lot)

so nothing really happens with the book at first and wwx forgets about it for the most part but then he wakes up one morning and he’s got an extra like RMB 1000 (i dont actually know much about currency so it’s roughly $200 if my quick interneting is legit)

wwx is like wtf? and once he finds out it’s from his novel he’s doubly like wtf? but then he finds out that someone had purchased his book and did a dramatic reading on youtube bc wwx decided that regular erotica was boring and decided to make it satirical or whatever and people loved it??

he’s got nothing better to do so he just goes hm yeah remember that Author i dated who had an “incredible idea that would absolutely amaze The Critics and helped explore his own convoluted mind” let’s make something of that and he writes another book kinda mocking that idea in a very horny way.

he publishes it and someone writes a review of his two books on their blog and now he’s actually starting to get popular - he’s got more money from those two books than he did by working at the local cafe for the whole week

Suho surprises you by turning up at you place but starts breaking down suddenly

It was an excruciatingly long day at work. But this sweltering sun wasn’t making you feel much better about getting off work. You trudge your way back to your messy crib that’s not going to be welcoming. 

You stood by the front door with your keys and sighed, ‘welcome home Y/N, to the mess you made’ .

‘Oh what...’

To your surprise, you were greeted with a clean and kept house instead. And the lights of the house were on.

You frowned quizzically , what exactly happened, did your landlord start being an angel and send a free house keeper over ?

Just as you were conjuring 1000 seemingly impossible possibilities , a voice broke through your reverie

‘Y/N! You’re back! I just went to the mart to stock up your fridge for you’

‘Oppa! Why are you here!’ You jumped towards junmyeon and hugged him tightly.

‘I was thinking of so many impossible scenarios of how my house was magically cleaned , but never expected it could have been you! You always left the lights on, how could I not have thought of you, hahaha’

Bringing the groceries in, you were about to start your string of curses about work

But you can’t help but feel something just doesn’t feel so right with Junmyeon today .. In that 5 minutes you spoke, he didn’t even look over at you or gave a response.

‘Oppa, are u listening? You’re rarely this dazed when I speak’

‘Oh, yes I was , Mag right? And the coffee she spilled on the carpet’

‘Yes it was Mag, but it was about her giving toffee to my nasty boss who hates it and spat on the Carpet ..’

‘Oppa, what’s up? You didn’t sound quite alright when you made the comment about being forgotten earlier already’

He shook his head and looked at you, blinking a couple of times emphasising

‘ no I’m fine, really, nothing’s up at all, sorry I wasn’t listening earlier , haha. Can’t really multi task with the grocery unpacking.’

You scoot over to him, giving him a hug from the back and leaning against him, you softly asked again

‘Oppa, what’s wrong?’

He tried to resist you, attempting to remove your hands and laugh it off. But you held tight and asked again ‘what’s wrong, jagi’

Suddenly he was silent, his breathing suddenly turned uneven, and his hands moved towards his forehead. You slowly let him go to turn him towards you, and he broke into uncontrollable sobs.

Your heart broke, looking at him crying. You watched him holding his tears back and calming himself down.

‘I just felt like I lost control of everything .. We ended early today because I was having such a hard time focusing I kept messing up in dance practice.. I haven’t slept well each night, thinking bout all the members’ worries , thinking bout you , stressing about our new album ....then the members were just joking around when I kept messing up but I just burst at them in frustration... it caught everyone off guard then they decided to end the practice early ...’

‘Oppa..’ you reached out too take his hands, and his eyes, still welled up in tears , looked towards you. A streak of tear flowed down and he quickly wiped them away then continued

‘And when I came and heard what you say about thinking about who made your house clean but I never crossed your mind, just hit me again how horrible of a boyfriend I must have been. I feel like I’m losing control of everything and I can’t handle it anymore Y/N’

You hugged him tight and pat him on the back, letting him cry all he wants, not looking at him so he doesn’t have to worry about being strong in front of you.

‘You are doing enough for everyone. You know that the kids love you and they probably know in the back of their heads how much you might be going through. They understand you more than you think’

Pulling apart, his head still hung low, refusing to look up yet. You held both his hands and said gently

‘Being strong doesn’t mean trying to hold it all up and take control of everything. It means being brave enough to admit to yourself you might not be able to control all these, and it’s okay. Don’t feel bad about needing to take a break, that’s how you can come back stronger. Oppa , you’re running a marathon , not a sprint, you need a break to finish the race..’ you paused to lift his head up

‘Let me get something for you’

U walk briskly to your room and pull out the gift you’ve bought for quite awhile but haven’t had a chance to give him.

‘And I got this for you that day, it’s a bracelet with this small pendent of angel wings, it writes : guardian angel..

I wanted to give this to tell you you’re my guardian angel and I want you to know that I am yours too.

Everything will be okay, just lean on me when you need ,ok?’

Trying to hold back his tears again , he held the bracelet tight in his hands , and choked out

‘thank you’

He gave you a tight hug and you both stayed that way until he felt better.

Some tips i should’ve known

1. Use your FAs to their fullest

I only ever started using them properly when i was probably mid to late game, i never really knew what exactly to do with them cuz i’m just lazy to smelt them until one day i just got sick with the almost full inventory of my FAs and i just wanted to clear them out. 

So i actually looked into guides online to which FAs i should use and stuff liddat and the difference was so big. They did so much more dmg than ever and that kinda shooked me but not rly either xD 

USE YOUR FAs

2. Farming for fame in restaurant

This is also another that i really didn’t know about until late game as well. I was just cooking whatever i wanted cuz why not but in order to lvl up your restaurant, you need fame and i came across some people giving out tips on the official discord regarding cooking so i took em ya know

Butter bread and pineapple juice

butter bread is the best for farming for both gold and fame, pineapple juice is more for fame but it’s good too. 

the bad thing bout them is, they take a “short” while to cook so you have to go back into the game constantly but most of us don’t have time for that LOL. 

So i looked into the attributes of recipes: flavor is for fame, texture is for gold, aroma is for customer flow and appearance is for reduction of cost.

I looked into the dishes that had high flavor, as well as the time taken to consume them but ultimately, it also depends on how you play. Thus, it’s good enough to concentrate on flavor and texture when cooking. 

And here comes my 3rd point

3. Gold is important to an extent

You won’t know how much gold you will spend until you get to that pop-up which says “You have insufficient gold” 

I was once chilling in my in-game gold coins ya know, sipping on my mango smoothie just living the in-game high life. 

But things like fusions, enhancements and even fishing bait cost so much and once i started farming for fame, used my FAs properly, money just seems to be so insignificant. Dropping like flies like no one’s business.

Solution is: texture , balcony orders(provided you use souvenirs that increase gold), cutting down on bait and all that..

4. Save le stamina

Again, something i didn’t know bout till i chanced upon a post. I’m not really a competitive player so I wasn’t really aware about gate of trials, ikr i’m living under a rock. 

I do know that there are artifacts and stuff like that but to me, they just seemed to be like extras and stuff that i didn’t really bother about. Because to get energy, you gotta have cards and stuff like that and i didn’t have much of that either. 

Anw, i started to save on stamina, from bentos, the tip shop and not spending it on ingredients so more fishing...which means more bait, which means more money, which means insufficient

5. Join an active guild

I was in an inactive guild for the longest time ever since the start of my FF journey until i read a post on tumblr. It was quite sad ngl cuz there was this other active member. We didn’t talk but ya know it feels sad to leave them behind ;.; i wonder where they are now

I left anw, and got into an active guild, again big difference. You will get more benefits...you basically will get more benefits. 

6. Being active daily

I have 111 days not signed in from the previous months and it pains me to see that huge bar of red on the activeness streak report.

You don’t have to go active active, just reach 100 for activity daily and that’s enough. 

I’m sure most of you would’ve known all of these LOL, it just took me research and chance-upons to know even more bout progression in the game

Frankly, the tutorial at the start of the game wasn’t the most informative, it just gave the basics of what you need to know, hell i didn’t even know there were restaurant tasks until mid-game not even kidding 

At least new journey gave a “guide” on artifacts which i don’t rmb the other ver. having but oh wells.

Anyway these are things i should’ve known from the get go, feel free to include more stuff and discuss what nots xD

the two hit it off immediately and they end up texting till 3am. they exchanged socmed accounts before they went to bed as well, and js decides to tell bamjae in the morning abt it.

they obv know who the hell mark tuan is and are freaking out over this. jackson rmbs that mark had told him not to spread this and realises that’s the reason why. he warns bamjae not to tell anyone, even their other close friends. bamjae suggest for him to keep texting and to even meet mark on the weekend.

they meet and it goes well and stuff, them slowly establishing their own sort of relationship. they’re more platonic than sexual most of the time, but they do look for each other when they’re horny and in need of release

one day, the press captures mark waiting for js after school at seoul uni + js getting into his car. they post an article with a caption insinuating that mark has a secret relationship, which he fires down with an instagram post about invading his privacy and posting false rumours. he does this because he’s scared that js might be affected.

The Break Up Blog - Day Forty One

I’m a in a crappy mood today.

It’s not for any tangible reason save for the fact that it’s close to that ‘time of the month’.

Oh, the joys of being a woman…

So naturally, I find everything irritating, even the sound of other people breathing around me.

I fell asleep around midnight after working on Katie’s portrait, but it wasn’t the best quality of sleep. Mainly because I kept stressing about my bloody fourth grade class and having some of them do more work on their diary entries tomorrow.

Why do they have to make my life more difficult than it needs to be? Some of my boys have all the etiquette of children raised in a wasteland far away from human civilization. It’s like they’ve never set foot in a classroom a day in their lives.

It was bad enough when I left Korea 4 years ago with high blood pressure after teaching there for two years. At this rate, I’m going to leave China eventually with high blood pressure and a nervous breakdown under my belt.

I texted SH about it over the weekend and she was very sympathetic, which made me feel even worse. She’s got enough on her plate and I feel like I’m adding to her burdens these days. I hope class goes better than what I’m expecting.

I have officially checked out of everything to do with my school. Sure, I’ll still go to work every day and continue doing what’s expected of me, but my head and heart are just not into this crap anymore. I’ve thought about it for two days now and I’ve decided that I’m not going to turn my fifth grade classroom into a democratic forum like H recommended. The parents and my colleagues may not like how I discipline my students, but I’m still their fucking teacher last time I checked. So I won’t do anything in class save to give my students their classroom points or not give them any points on a bad day when they’re not listening and disrupting my lessons.

When I went to get my hair done at the salon, C texted me and told me that the latest rumour mill is saying that no one should approach her at work and ask her for anything because she’s apparently so angry about being dismissed from work that she’ll lash out at anyone who approaches her.

I feel like many of my teaching colleagues have some hidden talents geared towards writing sensational fanfictions or fairytales. Anyone who knows C knows that she would never not help someone in need just because she’s going through a difficult time either personally or professionally. I don’t know where these pack of lies are suddenly coming from.

Well, that’s not true. It all seems to be coming from ML. I’m beginning to think the woman really thinks she has a penchant for mind-reading.

Or maybe she’s just demon-possessed.

I really don’t know what’s going on at my workplace and why the atmosphere has become so tense and poisonous in the last year. It wasn’t like this when I first started working there. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d blame on it too many new staff members and too many new students coming in and upsetting the ecosystem.

I can only imagine what people will say or what they’re already saying about me wanting to leave. At this point, everyone at work who has time to gossip and make up shit instead of doing their goddamn jobs can kiss my big, brown ass. I’m done playing politics with people who have no fucking common sense.

I am sick to death of shitty people besting me and having the last word. To all the shitty people in the world, here is my final piece of advice on the subject:

If you can’t do right by others and live a good life during this existence, then just kill yourself so that the rest of us trying to make sense of this crazy world can get on with our lives.  

I know that’s a cruel thing to say, especially when my life has been touched by the loss of a loved one through suicide.

But that’s honestly where I’m at right now. If you’re not good or even useful to me or others, then just kill yourself and be done with it. Because if you’re still alive and not living the right way or doing right by others, then you might as well be dead for all the harm you’re putting back out into the world.

Yeah, I’m in a really terrific mood today.

I managed to finish marking my student diaries, save for some of the fourth grade ones that aren’t finished yet. I took the box I packed it in back to my desk at school. JI, one of my Korean colleagues in the elementary department, was working late too. I hope she doesn’t stay at work too long and manages to get some rest later tonight. I left her pretty early on after finishing my work and gave her one of the Oreo bars in my backpack.

Now I’m typing angrily at this blog entry, wondering why I feel so tense and wound up today. It’s probably just emotions. At least the meds the doctor gave me yesterday are working well for my sinuses.

I’m so over exercising, it’s ridiculous. Since I might be riding the crimson wave soon, I think I’ll slow down with exercising this week and just take it easy. I’m still in two minds about this, but I’m probably going to quit this blog after tonight too. It’s too exhausting doing this every evening after a shitty day at work and having to rehash my feelings about that and about X in one fell swoop. I’m just over everything.

At least there’s Golden Week to look forward to this coming weekend, plus next month’s pay cheque. Despite my crazy spending this month, I haven’t done too badly for myself. I just have to make sure I have enough cash to spend on a flight home to see my family in January. Given the ambiguous state of my parents’ marriage, I’m not exactly looking forward to figuring out whose place to crash at during my holidays.

Can people just sort their shit out and leave me the fuck out of it?

I’d better stop typing here before this becomes more of a shit show of emotions and bottled up resentment. Then I’ll do my bloody exercises, shower, eat dinner and then hopefully have a dreamless sleep. Whatever will happen tomorrow will happen with or without me.

As for X, I’m done feeling anything about her, good or bad. She’s a piece of shit in human form and I’m glad that she’s finally out of my life. Now she can find herself another dumb and rich foreigner to manipulate.

I hope I actually feel better by the time I finally stop typing. My wifi is being so shitty today too. What do I pay 300 RMB a month for anyway? Fresh air, wifi-adjacent, connectivity?  

I’d better switch to watching old movies or TV shows on my USB for now till my fucking laptop behaves and actually lets me use my VPN without any problems.

I guess it doesn’t matter anyway.

Nothing matters.

I need lots of sugar to get me through the night.

Chapter Seven: Orientation Part 1.

11/30/2020, 7:30 am, Monday.

     I arrived at Sky’s home 30 minutes early. Sky sensed her and went to the door to greet her. 

Sky: Morning. -smiling-

Sky: Did you sleep well?

Sky: Not bad. Did you eat?

Sky: Yes. There’s breakfast being serve. Mom thinks that having guests over it’s polite to serve food. 

Jazzy: I see. Let’s go. Don’t want to keep the other guests waiting. -smiling-

Sky: Mhm. 

      Sky and I went inside the house. I was greeted by the maids and butlers. But I didn’t see any of Sky’s family members. I wonder where they were. Also, I feel like I’m the first one here because the other guests has not arrive. 

Jazzy: Where’s everyone?

Sky: My father is in his office, mom is in her study, and my little sister is sleeping in her room. Everyone else is in the kitchen eating. Do you want to meet them?

     Just then Sky’s father came out of his office. I quickly bow to the King. 

Jazzy: Your Highness. Good morning.

Sky: Father.  

King You: Morning. Who are you?

Jazzy: My name is Jazzy Tam. I’m a friend of Royal Prince Sky. I’m here for my Patrol Orientation. 

King You: Oh. Nice to meet you. -walking away- 

    When the King was out of the ear shot. 

Jazzy: He’s not much of a talker is he?

Sky: Mhm. Come. Let’s go to the kitchen. 

Jazzy: Okay. 

    In the kitchen it was more rowdy. There were a lot of people. I started to feel nervous and shy. There are 28 people in the kitchen plus Sky and I there is a total of 30 people in the kitchen. Sky did the introductions which took up 20 minutes, but that was okay because I was enjoying my coffee. Everyone in the kitchen seems nice. At exactly 8 am a butler came into the kitchen to announced that the Patrol Orientation is about to start. All the boys stood up and said bye to their girlfriends and left the kitchen. The girls thought I wasn’t attending the Patrol Orientation, but I got up as well and left with Sky. Of course I said bye to the girls. The girls were actually surprised that I was part of Patrol Orientation. The 15 boys and myself walked down the basement and into an elevator. Sky pushed a button that said SB. 10 minutes later we arrived to SB. 

    Sky opened the door to SB. The King and my father was already there. So were all the other boys fathers. We all went to our seats and the entire room was very quiet. A few minutes later the King greeted us. 

King You: Welcome to Royal Court Orientation. The 16 of you are the new team of Royal Court. Today, you will come up with a new name because my old team didn’t do a good job of coming up with a good name. -blushing-

Everyone: -laughing-

King You: Then we will go through the rules and guidelines. Following these rules are a must. Because it’s for your safety and the safety of your team. 

Everyone: Understood. 

King You: You have 5 minutes to come up with a name for the team. And we’ll go from there. 

Everyone: Understood. 

       The 16 of us started talking among ourselves. 5 minutes later we came up with the name that I was thinking about since last night. 

King You: Ready?

Everyone: Yes Sir!

King You: What’s the new team?

William: Royal Mythical Court. 

Mr. Tam: Why?

Jazzy: Because I have a sense that we are going to be helping a lot of mythical creatures and humans. -blushing-

   After I spoke everyone was silent. The quietness made me blush even more. I can’t stand the silence. After a few minutes the King spoke. 

King You: Great name. Now for the rules. There are 5 of them. You get 3 chances if you break the rules. Use up all of your 3 chances than I’m sorry to say that you’re kicked out of the Royal Mythical Court. Once you’re kicked out and depending on how bad you did, you’re either arrested for your crimes or you’re exile from the kingdom. If you’re exile than you’re not allow to bring your family. If you are arrested than your family is allow to visit you until your trial. Here are the 5 rules: 1) Always stay with your partner, 2) Always call for backup if you need help, 3) No sex while working, 4) Write your reports, and 5) No alone patrolling. 

Everyone: Understood. 

Mr. Cai: Each of you have a mentor. Which us the Counsel. We are on call 24/7. Don’t haste to call us if you need something such as help. :) 

Everyone:  Understood. 

Mr. Zhu: We have Royal Mythical Court meetings every last day of the month. You all must attend these meetings. These meetings are held in different locations. We will send you all an alert to let you know where the meeting is located. Don’t miss any meetings. If you do, you better have a good explanation. And no “I was having too great of sex to come.” Does not count. The Counsel used up that excuse already. 

King You: -ahem- Yes, please don’t use that excuse. 

Mr. Wang: That only happened ONCE. 

Rich: Sure it did. Dad. 

Mr. Wang: It true. 

Rich: Then why did I have 6 other siblings?

Mr. Wang: ......

King You: -ahem- Let’s move on. These cases can be Rank from A which is the highest, hardest, and longest. The easiest, lowest, and last only a day or two is Rank F. All of these cases must be completed in the correct amount of time. You only are allow to have extra time if the case is Rank A+. Once each case is completed a report must go with the case file. If you don’t want to fall behind on the paper work, please keep up with the paper work each night. 

Everyone: Understood. 

Mr. Bei: We do get vacation days and sick days. We also get paid for our work. So, if you see an extra $2,000 RMB in your bank account don’t freak out. It’s $2,000 RMB is for each of you. Not $2,000 RMB for each partner. 

Everyone: Understood. 

Mr. Bei: Also, you can keep your day job. But no matter how busy you are with your day job, once you are paged you must answer with in 10 minutes. 

Everyone: Understood. 

King You: All of the training will take place at Royal Mythical Court HQ. You won’t be living in the HQ, but I have a feeling that all of you will want to live in the HQ or next to it. Because it’s going to be difficult to come up with excuses for your families. But that is in the future. But during the next 6 weeks you’ll all be staying at the HQ. Please let your family know that you’re going to Basic Patrol Training. 

Everyone: Understood. 

King You: For every training you’re to stay at the HQ. You can go home on the holidays. There are no days off on the weekends. So either you are training or doing paper work. Yes, even in training you all still need to do your paper work. The paper work you’ll be doing while you’re training is to write in your journals. At the end of each training, you have to turn in your journal to me. For example, at the end of your 6 week Basic Training you’re to turn in your journal. 

Everyone: Understood. 

King You: Since you’re 6 weeks of Basic Training falls into Christmas and New Years. I’m happy to say you are allow to return to your families for one day. The next day you have to return to HQ by noon. No excuses. 

Everyone: Understood. 

King You: Okay. Now, you’re to sign an agreement. This a must. It is agreement that you’ll serve your life to Mythical Kingdom and your King. If you don’t sign this agreement than I’m sorry to tell you, that you have to leave this room right this minute. -handing Sky the stack of papers-

      Sky handed out the papers to everyone of his team mates. 10 minutes later all of us signed the papers. And handed back to Sky, in turn he handed all 16 papers back to his father. 

King You: Okay. Couple more things before I release you all. I’m going to put you into pairs. Listen up! 

Everyone: Yes Sir!

King You: Royal Prince Skylar You, your partner is Jazzy Tam. 

Sky and Jazzy: Yes Sir!

King You: William Cai, your partner is Phil Zhu.

King You: Good. You’re all partnered up. Rely on your partners when you patrolling different sections of Mythical Kingdom. The Counsel is your Emergency Back Up. For example, if there is a pack of rogues inside a section of the kingdom and you need the Counsel back up let us know. Because we can’t have one section of the kingdom unwatched. That is how surprised attack from neighboring kingdoms starts. 

Everyone: Understood. 

Mr. Lin: Also, the King is our General. The rest of us are your Lieutenants. We Lieutenants have our own set of teams. We won’t go through them today, because you can read about us in your Basic Training Handbook. Each training stage you’ll meet a Lieutenant and his team. The only time you’ll see your General is when we are having a war with a neighboring kingdom.

Sky: -softly sigh a relief-

Mr. Lin: Your Captain is Sky You and your Co-Captain is Jazzy Tam. Before we go all 16 of you will go into separate rooms. Don’t worry. You’ll find out soon enough. Right now, I hear stomachs rumbling so we’ll break for lunch.

    We all went back to the main floor. Lunch was already been served. The Queen and the Princess were no where to be found. The King joined us for lunch. The other 14 boys girlfriends joined us for lunch. I didn’t say much because I was too shy and I don’t really know them very well. My father can sense my shyness and lean towards me. 

Mr. Tam: You need to get over your shyness. 

Jazzy: I can’t. I’m too nervous and shy. 

Sky: My brothers don’t bite. And neither does their girlfriends. Some of them are jealous that I’m sitting next to you. But they can’t have me because I made a law that if I’m interested in someone, I’m to be with that person until I decide to end it. Basically, I’m set a law for myself stating that I’m to be with one person and one person only. No mistresses for me. 

Jazzy: You’re parents agreed?

King You: I set a good example for my children. I don’t have any mistresses. But my wife disagree. So, she does have a side piece but lets keep that between us. -winking-

Queen You: I don’t have a side piece. 

    Everyone was very surprise by appearance of the Queen. Everyone stood up and greet the Queen. All but the King. 

King You: Oh, then where do you usually go when I’m working?

Queen You: I go to work. I still have my day job dear. The only time I do my Queen duties is when we are entertaining guests. At night I go play mahjong with my friends. Then I come home. If I have a side piece I would’ve divorced you a long time ago. I wouldn’t wait this long. -kissing the King on the cheek-

King You: -blushing-

    I can sense that the King was joking with his wife and everyone. I also can sense that Sky’s parents are very loving. 

Jen: Yuck! Please get a room you two. 

King You: You’re home early. 

Jen: Mhm. My friends had to work and they can’t really hang out. -sitting down-

Sky: Don’t you have a day job?

Jen: Oh, that little place. I quit. About 2 weeks ago. Dad, I’m low in cash. Can you lend me some money? 

King You: For what?

Jen: I need to get a new phone.

Queen You: What’s wrong with your old one?

Jen: The screen broke. -showing her phone to everyone to see-

Sky: -sighs softly-

King You: No. You find yourself a new job, and you can get yourself a new phone. I’m not going to be giving you anymore money. 

Jen: -looking at her mother-

Queen You: Don’t look at me. I’m not going to give you money. You’re old enough to earn money for yourself. 

Jen: -looking at Sky-

Sky: No way. I’m not giving you a single cent. 

Jen: What about your little girlfriend?

      Everyone looked at me. Waiting for me to answer. I looked Jen in the eye. I’m a type a person who don’t spoil people that I don’t know. Also, I don’t spoil my sister like that. Once in while I will get my sister something that she wants for her birthday. So, I know how to take care of this situation without having a fight with Jen. Plus, you never know Jen might be my sister in law. I have to be in good terms with her, or she might stab me in the back in the future. 

Sky: You don’t have to answer her. My sister is a spoil brat. 

Jazzy: I’ll make you a deal. If you find a job and without quitting for 1 whole month. I will get you the new iPhone 12. Deal?

Sky, King You, and Queen You: Ah! Good plan. 

Jen: Deal. Starting when?

Jazzy: Starting tomorrow. Because I have Basic Patrol Training starting tomorrow. If I can last an entire month without quitting from my new night job, and you can do the same thing. And by the end of year 2021 if both of us still have our new jobs. We’ll get each other something that we both really want. As an reward. 

Jen: Deal. 

       Jen and I shook hands. After lunch we went our separate ways. Sky and I along with everyone else that came from the Orientation, went back to our Orientation. Before our meeting continued. Sky pulled me aside. 

Sky: You just made a deal with the devil. 

Jazzy: Your sister isn’t that bad. I can sense it. She’s a little spoil but being nice to her now, will do me some good in the future. 

Sky: -confused-

Jazzy: -laughing- 

Sky: Why are you laughing?

Jazzy: Even though, we are in the Friendship Phase. But your sister thinks we are together. So, making this kind of deal with her will be good for me in the future. Because you never know what will happen in the future. :)

Sky: -laughing softly- Okay. Come. We’re going to be late. 

      Sky and I walked to the meeting room. Just as the meeting was about to start.
